It’s a really powerful vacuum cleaner and it does work well on carpets and solid floor. I have a dog and a cat so lot’s of hair around and it really works.
It’s very heavy though! I wouldn’t recommend this for an older or petite person, it’s like doing a workout every time I hoover!
The storage unit can be detached, but need to be carried with your other hand so, yes it’s a hard job! For this reason my husband does the stairs for me.
It’s a very good vacuum cleaner with excellent suction and versatile in the way the wand detaches easily to make it lighter and more portable when using to do round skirting boards and on the stairs. As for its “anti-wrap” credentials, I’m not so convinced. I had to spend about 20 minutes today with a sharp knife hacking my way through a huge amount of hair and bits of thread which had wrapped themselves like rope around the rollers. Having got rid of it, the rollers turned round fine, although they are showing signs already of getting clogged back up again. But taken as a whole I think the Shark (just about) earns its five stars.
I do love this hoover but does have some downfalls.
The suction is great, probably the best i’ve ever had. BUT the anti hair wrap function does not work as you can see from other reviews.
The hair, string anything gets tangled in the rollers which need cut out. Another annoying issue is you can take the orange roller out but the others you can’t unless you want to dismantle the whole thing taking the screws off (which needs a special screwdriver) and i don’t understand as the other models you can do this no bother.
I would also be so wary not to run over a cable as this will literally slice it in half!
If you accidently run over lego/hair grips ect aswell it gets stuck and you have to take the bottom off to get it out.
Plus side its not too heavy, easy to push around, long cable so you can do multiple rooms without having to change plug sockets, has different tools for the stairs, sofas or areas you can reach!
The lift away button is good as you can get under the sofa. Has a carpet function and the other is for lino/wooden floors! The carpet function is very powerful its great for my rugs.
I couldn’t beleive the amount of dirt & dust the hoover gathered after the 1st use and i thought it was clean after using my last hoover! Needs cleaned regularly so take the filters out running under warm water which dry really quickly. They advise to clean it after each use as any bit of dust can effect the suction. Has a green light which means its fine and a red light if theres a blockage.
I love the headlights as i call them aswell! Not a noisy hoover either.
Wanted a shark for a while since using one at work & loving how it picks up. Had a pet vax but never picked up all the hair, the shark gets every hair (there’s a lot with my dog, plus mine & my daughters hair!)) Really good suction. It’s quite heavy but that means quality, everything clicks into place well. You can detach for stairs & the lead is plenty long enough. Very pleased I got one at last. Always hated hoovering but this makes it less of a chore.
We recently purchased a Shark to replace a leading brand up right vacuum cleaner. We vacuum the floors daily and we thought that they were clean, however we were surprised to see the amount of hair and deep down dust that the Shark removed from the carpet even on the stairs. The machine comes dissembled but all clicks together simply. It’s light weight and easy to use even on stairs and the suction is brilliant so far. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a vacuum that is powerful, light weight and simple to use.
I’ve been using this for around 6 months and came from a Dyson Animal that was ancient & had lost it’s suck.
First, things that I like:
Lots of sucking power.
Great on carpet, laminate & tiles (It has two settings but I just use carpet setting as it’s more powerful).
Very customisable: can be used as a standard upright, you can also remove the main body & hold it in one hand while doing the sucking up with the other giving you the ability to get under really low gaps (sofas, beds etc). You can also use smaller attachments to do stairs, tops of doors, wardrobes etc. Also works well inside of your car.
I thought the headlights were a gimmick but they’re very useful for highlighting areas that you might otherwise miss.
Things I don’t like:
The cool Orange finish on the main pipe was damaged after a few removals of the main body. Certainly not a deal breaker but it now looks older than six months.
The cable doesn’t retract into the body but wraps around 2 points on the bodywork. Again, not a deal breaker but I’ve been used to a Dyson where the cable disappears inside the body – you could look at this as a weight saving plus point though.
It’s light enough for me to use hand held, but if I were older I can see how this may get heavy when holding the main part in one hand & the wand in the other (you can only use the wand ‘one handed).
There’s nowhere to store the attachments on the unit, so you need somewhere to store them in your house, plus you have to stop what your doing to go & find the attachment when you want to swap it.
On the whole though I’m very happy with my purchase. It was priced well, and does the job well.
Great powerful quality product. Love it. Any vacuum that can cope with the moult from my labra adorables is good news. This feels study and attachments come apart and go together snugly with a reassuring click fit. Not to heavy and easy to use all over the house including the stairs. If it lasts I’ll be delighted with it!
I expected far better than what I got! Oh yes the anti hair wrap is great, but thats about it! It doesnt pick up well at all and expect to pay 25-40 for a new hose if you get anything stuck!! I got one of my kids sock stuck…. and I mean stuck, jammed, never to be seen again and I tried EVERYTHING to get that little foot warmer out but its well in hibernation! Then the brush stopped working and the led lights gave up too. I only had it 3 months. Was sent back for a refund. U would be better off with a lint roller on your hands and knees than this. Im going back to VAX
shark? More like a goldfish!

I have two large dogs, one that Sheds hair constantly. My old cleaner used to break down regularly and needed cleaning. Cleaning it took ages, finding the right screwdriver and undoing numerous screws.
So far after several months I have found that the suction is amazing, it copes with the dog hair and the one time some cotton got tangled around the rollers I was amazed at how easy and quick it was to clean.
It gets to all the places my old Vac couldn’t and is so much easier cleaning the stairs with the lift off option.
Its altogether worth every penny.
I have very long dark hair that has been building up on my carpets, and my Dyson for some reason never managed to pick them all up. After one cleaning session in my living room with this, the dust compartment was full, and I did hoover regularly before buying this! I could not believe the amount of dirt this vacuum picked up. I did have to manually cut and remove the bunches of long hairs from the brush roll, however this is a minor thing for me. There’s no more hair in my carpets which was the main objective. I’m very happy with this purchase.
My 12 year old Miele kicked the bucket yesterday, mid clean. On a recommendation I went for the Shark as a replacement. It arrived today and 15 minutes later it was in action. I am ashamed! What a filthy pigsty I used to live in. I didn’t realise how bad the Miele was until the Sharks tank was full of dirt after only a couple of minutes, the carpet actually looked cleaner! OK, pitting it against a 12 year old vacuum may not be the best comparison, but I’m very impressed with the performance. By the way, I’m a man, so I will be handing it over to my Wife for the long term test. Oops, about to get cancelled 🙂

Incredibly easy to put together and on first use is made us realise how our old dyson had not been working well for some time. Suction is good, lifts all the hairs up (long haired human, two dogs and two cats), anti-hair wrap technology works well. The shark is incredibly well thought out, long electric cable, you can remove just the handle to add attachments to, or the entire wand, or you can take the cannister off and just carry that around while vacuuming i.e. cornices, stairs etc. Super silent, and the switch on the handle makes it effortless to switch from carpet to hard flooring. I love this machine. If I had one gripe, it’s that the stair attachment is very noisy.
Bought in January 2021. I’ve always been a Dyson lover and was extremely dubious about changing to another brand. I’ve got to say the Shark is far better than any other vacuum I’ve ever had (with 6 kids I’ve had a few) !!! Can’t recommend enough. It’s easy to do stairs , under furniture, lifts dust off of laminate floors. Suction is strong and has easy removable parts, making it extremely versatile. I’m so glad I made the change. Shark all the way !!! It’s that good, after showing my brothers how good it was over FaceTime they ordered one each as well. Their verdict is “it’s the nuts” !! Well done Shark.
Best hoover I’ve used. Initial unit developed a fault within a week but amazon were brilliant and had a replacement sent out to me which arrived less than 48 hours later and the faulty one was collected the next day from my house. Many people I know have this model and all rave about it so this is most likely an isolated incident. The hoover has incredible suction power .. having used my old hoover a few days previous I was shocked at how much this unit picked up from my carpets. The roller and anti hair wrap feature is outstanding, what a difference its made to my floors. Works brilliantly on my hard floors as well. Could not reccomend highly enough and the 5 year shark warranty gives that extra peace of mind.

1its easy for manoeuvering turning round a daedle
2 it’s very quiet 3 good array of tools and cable length is good for what I needed 4 breaks down easy when doing the stairs so you just carry motor and hose on stairs with you with whatever attachment needed 5 it’s very light and very easy to empty maybe one downside could possibly have had a bigger dust collection tank but again its so easy to empty . 6 one review I read was before you use it go over carpets with your old hoover (which I did) then use your new hoover it’s amazing how much it collected that my old hoover failed to pick up . Yes buy it I would not hesitate to buy it again
Stewa
It’s light in weight, cleans exceptionally well, the various parts lift off without fuss for stairs, curtains etc and clip back together easily.
Better than Dyson by far( we’ve had a fair few of those) and much less expensive.
We got this just for upstairs after having a slightly different model for 3 years.
That one suffered a split hose which was VERY fiddly to replace. Bought part on eBay and got instructions from YouTube. Now works fine
This is the best hoover that I have ever had. It is easy to assemble and use. I had a Dyson before which was good but was continually slowed down by hair tangling round the brush. A friend recommended Shark and the anti hair tangle feature was a bonus. I was amazed at how much it sucked up on first use. I have used probably about 8 times now and had to untangle hairs once but I still love it! The dirt chamber is quite small but easy to empty into kitchen bin after every use. Highly recommend.
Like many it seems we were bored with reading reviews and had to plump for a new vac.
Only seen Shark on TV but 2 friends have bought one and are very satisfied. We got this and have been ‘sucked away’ ever since.
Beautifully engineered, everything clicks and slides wonderfully. The stair attachment is awesome and we were stunned when we first used it. Starting to wonder how many fibres are actually left in our carpets…
The only downside is the weight, a bugbear of most competent vacs. I couldn’t recommend it to elderly folks but there may be more suitable Shark products out there. Other than that we are chuffed to bits with it.
So good – much better than my Dyson. Too much hype about Dyson – apart from bagless, the upright Dyson just copies the Hoover ‘Beats, as it sweeps as it cleans’!
My Shark is corded with plenty of length on the cord and great suction. Why bother with a cordless when this works so well and does not need charging? After assembling – I did need to read the easy instructions and pictures on the box – it took me a few minutes to find the settings switches and dust container removal. Another few minutes showing my wife the controls and we both love the Shark. I have a corded Miele that I use for Stairs and picture rails. The Dyson is relegated to the spare room.

After a while with 2nd hand hoovers we decided to splash out on a new one and the difference was so much better than expected!
After the first hoover I would’ve been convinced we’d never hoovered before (despite having only just hoovered yesterday with our older Dyson).
This thing got up so much hair and dust it was remarkable! At the end we noticed we only had it on the hard floor setting despite having carpet, so we went over again and it took up just as much dust as before, but this time a lot finer!
The anti-hair wrap tech works relatively well, although it is not perfect so just make sure you don’t rely on it 100% and take the time to de-tangle the brushes occasionally to stop it clogging. The hoover has a warning light on the top to tell you if it is getting too tangled which is helpful!
The extra extensions it comes with are very handy and the container is fairly large but may need to be emptied once or twice during one session depending on how big your home is and how long its been since your last hoover.
This is an ‘out the box’ review so I can’t comment on longevity at all as we only bought it yesterday (but it is reassuring that it comes with a 5 year warranty). On overall first impressions, this was much better than we were expecting for the price and I couldn’t really imagine needing much more from a hoover. Would definitely recommend.
Cannot fault this vacuum cleaner. I’ve been a faithful user of the Dyson for over 20 years but have since loss confidence due to lack of suction. Since it’s lockdown I can’t arrange pair and to be honest I didn’t think it worth it. The Dyson I have is just over 12 months old so will maybe keep as a spare.
The difference between the Dyson and Shark (both pet models) is the versatility. Much easier to do stairs and under furniture as you can detach the cylinder. Tools are just as good as Dyson too.
So far very happy and would highly recommend.
Really good at cleaning and after a couple of times all the functions, buttons and options for use are a doddle. The anti-hair function seems to be working a treat especially in a house full of lockdown hair. The only thing to be aware of is the pet hair option gives a natty little attachment for the hose end for getting hair off furnishings. It works well but only fork out the extra if you really need it. I have a Labrador so it will earn its keep.
Had Dysons for years but must say their quality slowly goes downhill and their warranty gets shorter so even they don’t have the same faith in their product. So time for a change and if I didn’t like it I could always send it back.
So this vacuum is reasonably quiet, versatile (separates into 2 parts) and very powerful (up to the point it can be difficult to push).
So the main point of a vacuum cleaner is to get dirt out of the carpet and this does that really well. Went over the living room carpet with the Dyson and then used this one. The amount of dust and rubbish in the cylinder afterwards was unbelievable, point made and vacuum cleaner not returned.
I had a vacuum for 10 years before this one, it was a pretty stable relationship, then, I decided it was time to move on with my life. Let me tell you, it was not an easy decision to make. My old vacuum was reliable and really good… but something was missing, especially when it was about picking up hair from the floor.
This vacuum was pricey but I decided it was time to treat myself. Since this shark arrived I filled so many bags with a lot of dirt that I have never imagined it was accumulated under the carpet, it made me aware that what’s on top of the carpet is not everything.
It is a heavy machine, but it helps the suction power, so I don’t mind. It is really easy to manoeuvre, and also I like that I can keep the extra bits on the main body, so it is easy to interchange tools when I need to.
I have really long hair and 3 cats, a kid, and my house was never this clean, also my hair does not tangle on the cleaning brushes, which makes me think there’s some kind of sorcery going on there, because it was a problem with my old vacuum and I had to stop all the time to clean the brush.
I feel like I spent all this money on something that is helpful and always ready to use.
Absolutely love this, we’ve brought every vacuum cleaner on the market probably, and saw this one on Amazon in a sale and thought, why not try this brand, and it’s absolutely amazing. It was really easy to set up, really love the little headlights on the front and it picks up everything. It also doesn’t frighten our cat which is an extra bonus. Would definitely recommend this product, and wished we had thought of this brand before.
With 3 large dogs and 2 Maine Coon cats, this hoover has been a godsend. Anti hair wrap works well, suction great although it’s worth investing in a set of spare filters as these seem to need washing more often than the competitors (instructions say every 3 months, I do mine every 2 weeks!)
Lift off makes doing the stairs very easy. Easy switch between hard floor and carpet on handle.
Most user friendly vacuum I’ve ever owned.
I could have kissed this vacuum. The last decade has been awful in terms of having a vacuum that can cope with copious amount of hair from my two Pugs and trust me they moult!!! I had THREE vacuums and they were all useless as couldn’t get hairs up. I tried shark cordless- red light came on constantly it was ok on the laminate floor but carpet oh no!!! Then i had a cordless Dyson purchased 10 years ago which was every bit AS GOOD AS the modern SHARK cordless. I then tried my VAX dual vacuum and carpet washer – again ok but useless on hair!!! So alleluiai found this vacuum. Its a lot heavier than cordless but worth its weight in gold. The bag was completely full in such a short time – full of dust and dog hair!!! Hopefully my bad chest will ease off once the dust is vacuumed away!!! I wont buy cordless anything again. Ive tried all sorts and you cant beat the POWER of electricity!!!! I actually enjoy vacuuming once again !!!!
After having Henry for years I thought he was a good hoover, I was incorrect!
I vaccumed the house the day of my delivery, top to bottom including the stairs. Anyways, my shark arrived and in my excitement I used it around the house once more.
This thing has some MEGA power, my “clean” house wasn’t clean at all it was filthy!
This shark cleaned 3 containers worth of hair and other random girl detritus, 3!
And I’d only hoovered hours before.
Get this, get the car adaptor and smash this baby around the crib, it’ll be cleaner, smell nicer and on the 6 month finance thing. It’s a no-brainer.
For many years, we’d used a cylinder vacuum cleaner and found them generally satisfactory. Most recently, we’ve had two Mieles and inherited a Henry. The Henry had a nice long flex but was pretty hopeless on carpet. The Miele had begun to lose its power and was incapable of picking up dog hair (our Golden Retriever sheds a fair bit of long hair) and even when it did, it would wrap round the roller of the suction head. In fact, it was not until we discovered how much hair was left behind by rubbing a foot over the carpet and seeing it come up, even immediately after vacuuming, that we realised that it may never have been very effective at all. So, we thought we try an upright, the Shark was not as expensive as the Dysons and it was getting good reviews.
The Shark Upright gets 5 stars for suction, pet hair removal and carpet cleaning. It’s also good on hard floors. I guess the anti-wrap technology must work, because I never have to remove any from the rollers. The dust collector is easy to empty, you can see what you’re collecting, and you don’t have to pay for disposable bags. The whole machine is easy to manoeuvre as it’s not too heavy and has small wheels to roll it from room to room. The switch to change from carpet to hard floors is at the handle so it’s easy to access. There is also a small vent in the handle so you can adjust the suction power. The ‘lift-away’ makes it easy to reach inaccessible parts under furniture and for doing stairs – so much easier than the cylinders which you have to drag and balance on stairs as you go. You can also detach the handle/stick at two different points so that you can attach nozzle or small brush to the hose.
I have some minor niggles.
The hose is short and quite heavy and if you don’t ‘lift away’ the detachable section, it can cause the whole to overbalance, or it can drag along and gets in the way.
The hose has a habit of falling away from its holder (held by a ‘ball and socket’ connector) when using the whole machine.
The flex is long, but this can make it difficult to manage as you move about as you have to unwind it all from the holders on the side of the stick. (The Miele’s cable had a retraction mechanism so you didn’t have to have out more flex than you needed.)
The two-in-one crevice and soft brush tool is a clever idea, though the soft brush can be stiff to retract when you want to use the crevice.
It’s less easy to manoeuvre on small rugs and mats, even when you adjust the suction power.
But these are small irritations. This is by far the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever owned. Vacuum cleaning the house has never been such a pleasure!
The Shark is easy to use, has some interesting features, and is an improvement on my Dyson. It has a nice long flex and hose, which is very helpful in a house with several flights of stairs. I was surprised when I first switched it on to see that it has lights, which make getting into dark snd difficult places easier. I have a very fluffy Maine Coon cat and, as she is an indoor cat, we have a certain amount of litter to sweep up as well as cat hair. The Shark deals with both very efficiently. Regarding the anti hair wrap facility, I haven’t found it to be quite as good as I’d been led to believe as I’ve had to unwind a certain amount (mainly cotton threads) from the roller by hand. However, this is not too much of a problem. The suction is very good and is adjustable to cope with hard floors as well as carpeted ones. Altogether I’m very pleased with its performance. The reservoir for the dust etc is very small and needs to be emptied often (or perhaps I just have a very mucky house!)
Bought this to replace an ageing Dyson DC07 which had finally died. So far after 3 weeks of use, we’re pretty happy with it. Love its versatility, being able to lift away the main body to vacuum stairs or under furniture. The main base is smaller than our previous Dyson which some reviews have said is a negative but we find it useful as it can get under furniture and in small gaps and the headlights help to see what you’re doing in these places. I don’t think it’s lighter than our previous Dyson but it’s definitely less cumbersome to carry up/down stairs. The only thing that loses it a star is that it can be a bit awkward to push around until you get used to it. Tools are good and the pet hair brush works well on our rugs and stair carpet which tend to collect clumps of fur from our white cat. Would recommend.
I’ve wanted a Shark for a while but the price was too high. I saw this deal just before Christmas and didn’t hesitate to buy.
I was not disappointed.
Easy to assemble and the suction power is second to none. I was amazed at the state of my carpets, even though I vacuum everyday.
The amount of dust and dirt that the Shark picks up is astounding.
I have a dog and two children and they obviously make mess; cleaning up now is no problem.
100% would recommend this vacuum, I wish I’d bought one sooner!
If you think your hoover is good and your carpets clean, I urge you to buy the Shark and see the difference. I was shocked, disgusted and amazed at how much dirt came out of my carpets using the Shark. I hoover 3 to 4 times a week and only hoovered yesterday and today went around when the Shark arrived. It’s so light to move around and you have to adjust the suction to hoover rugs as they just get stuck otherwise. Under furniture is a breeze with the main body removed and made like a stick hoover. Also the main body and stairs attachment are great and lightweight, my only criticism is that there isn’t a storage point on the hoover to keep this tool. Tiny issue on a fantastic product.
I bought this on impulse as it was reduced in Boxing Day sale. I have a 20 year old Dyson which has served me well but us showing it’s age. Absolutely delighted with this purchase though … I have 2 dogs and horses meaning a LOT of mud, dust, hay, hair, shavings get into the house despite my best efforts!! Its suction is fantastic and personally I find it really light and easy to lift, empty etc I’m a 56 year old woman. Love the light which shows up fluff etc under furniture and in dark corners. Only slight criticism is that the dust canister is small meaning it needs emptying perhaps twice when I do the whole house. Small price to pay for it.
What’s not to like? All the good reviews are true. Lived with a dodgy dyson for years, treated myself to this and wasn’t disappointed. The dust that came off my stairs after first use was shocking and half filled the chamber. Truly amazing power and I love the attachments for the stairs and couch. I have very thick, long fine hair and when I’m in shedding season it’s everywhere. Love the fact you switch to hard floor at the click of a button and it has lights so you can really see what your doing if your lighting is poor in the house. I just love it and will be purchasing sharks for many years to come
I have waited ages to get one of these. I have arthritic hands and I bought a cheap cylinder hoover but was unable to use it as the suction was too strong. However this is just right. I was not disappointed. Took a couple of times so get used to the swivel head but in fact makes the hoover even better. Its great for getting under the bed. The only thing I find is when cleaning the stairs the pip seems a little heavy. However I can live with that. As my sofa is very close to the floor the other hoover would go slightly under however this wont. But that’s not a problem it gives me the excuse to pull the sofa out to clean under as I have a wooden floor and gets a lot of dust. Best hoover I have had in over 40 years. Does a great job of cleaning.
Overall, this is an excellent vacuum cleaner. Arrived early, easy to assemble with good instructions. Powerful suction, but a little heavy to push on carpet. The lift off feature is very useful for under furniture and on stairs. Lights, although seemingly a gimmick, actually prove quite useful! Small collection pod, so needs to be emptied frequently, but enough for me to do the house (no pets/children, though!). Push in hose clip keeps dropping out which is a little annoying. Small head allows easier cleaning in smaller gaps, swivel takes a bit of getting used to after fixed head machines.
This is by far the best Hoover I’ve had. Bought in the sale which was a bonus as I normally buy hovers that are cheap and regret it. This would have been well worth the full price anyhow.
The suction and brush roller are brilliant and I was actually appauled by the amount of dust and pet hair that came out of the carpets. When you use a cheap Hoover every day thinking your getting all the bits up…you definitely aren’t. This proved it! Has settings to change from carpet to hard floor, and has the main accessories you need for different areas of the house. The great thing is that you can unclip the cylinder so that you can hold it to do stairs etc instead of trying to drag the whole hoover around. The buttons etc are labelled so you know what they are for without having to read through the instructions. Very easy to put together from unboxing. My 10 year old daughter did it in just a few minutes and figured out how it all works. She even offered to Hoover the whole house and gave me a lesson on how every accessory works. If your looking for a very decent Hoover, this is it!
Great vacuum so far. Can’t comment on longevity as only had it a month. Works well, suction is excellent and definitely manages hair wrap better than anything else we’ve tried. It’s still worth giving it a check as it doesn’t completely stop hair wrapping, but that could be because my wife and 2 daughters all have long hair, so it’s a lot to ask. However, it deals with all but a few strays that occasionally latch on. The lift away makes it good for stairs and getting into awkward places. However, the stick (main pipe with the handle on top) is quite long and it isn’t adjustable, so it can be difficult if your using in a tight space, such as in the car. Shorter people may also find it a little difficult in its set upright position (probably less so once you’ve tilted it for cleaning. Overall it’s great buy, if a little more expensive than some alternatives. It is still good value IMO.
Recently purchased this vacuum after a long-distance house move and specifically sought something that could deal with large volumes of pet hair. I have owned numerous vacuum cleaners in the past including Bissel, Dyson and Miele and the Shark Duo Pet Hair is probably the best one I have used so far. The cleaning and suction power easily beat that of my old Bissel and Dyson cleaners and is on par with the Miele vacuum that I used to have (which was 2200w compared with just 750w for the Shark!)
The Shark came in quite a compact box and was easy to assemble, simply clicking the components into place as directed in the instruction manual. There is nothing fiddly to do and no screws to tighten, just click it all in and off you go! The product is well designed but does look a bit industrial although not ugly per se. The whole unit is very quiet which is to be expected as it is a modern vacuum and adheres to the newer noise regulations. Compared to my old 2200w Miele, this 750w Shark is only using a third of the electricity and makes about half the noise which is an absolute win in my book!
Despite having three cats and two large and very hairy Golden Retrievers that seem to shed endlessly; the Shark Duo Pet Hair makes short and easy work of cleaning both carpet and hard flooring. The handy suction control valve is very useful when switching between flooring styles as it allows me to lower the level of suction when hoovering my tile floor which stops hair and dust flying everywhere because of just how powerful the Shark is when you have it going full tilt.
The main cleaning head on the vacuum was a little smaller than I had hoped for. It seems narrow and short compared with my old vacuum however, because the suction power is so great, I do not need to keep going over the same spot to clean my floor which means despite the bristles being smaller it takes me much less time! The main head is quite flexible and while it will not turn a full 90 degrees, it will bend to quite a reasonable 65-70 degrees which is plenty fine. At first glance I though the LED lights on the front of the cleaning head were a bit tacky, however after vacuuming some dark corners and the cupboard under my stairs I have come to really appreciate how these lights help you spot pieces of dirt, hair and general flotsam that may otherwise have been missed.
The main body of the vacuum clips onto the upright portion and is really what makes this vacuum a neat piece of design. The lift-away button allows you to pull the entire motor and dust chamber away from the main cleaning head meaning you can take it throughout your house for cleaning those smaller spaces where having the whole vacuum can be cumbersome. Personally, we use the lift-away feature for cleaning our stairs, closets/ cupboards, and for cleaning the car. The main drawback of the lift away feature is that it does not balance all that well on stairs, meaning you must hold the motor in one hand while vacuuming with the other. This is fine for me, but my wife finds it tiring as the engine is quite heavy and of course exhausts hot air onto you since you must hold it. I also find the dust chamber to be on the smaller side which means I must empty it frequently thanks to my small menagerie of pets leaving hair everywhere. The chamber is designed in such a way that dust and debris does not fully occupy all the space in the chamber before it starts to clog up the filter. I have attached a picture that illustrates the strange design of the vacuum chamber.
The handle detaches at two separate points, either in the middle which allows you to use the full length of tube for easy cleaning while remaining standing, or at the top which allows a short cleaning handle for detailing work or cleaning in tighter spaces. At 190cm tall, short vacuum handles have been the bane of my existence for some time, however the Shark handle is long enough that I don’t have to bend down and break my back in several places to vacuum the stairs or the skirting boards. The Shark came with four useful attachments: a long and narrow angled nozzle for corners and skirting boards, a soft brush head for dusting and detailing, a flat brush for stairs and furniture, and an anti-hair wrap pet tool. Despite having four attachments there are only two spaces to store them on the vacuum meaning that I often leave the pet tool un-used in the cupboard as its quite unnecessary given the overall power of the Shark.
Overall, I would rate the Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner [NZ801UK] 4.5/5. Huge positives would be the enormous yet variable suction power, the low noise and wattage of the motor, the fact that in three months I have not once had to untangle pet hair from the rotor blades, and how simple and QUICK that cleaning has been since I got this. It makes me want to clean more because of how easy it is. A few points knocked off because of the small dust chamber and that the lift-away feature can be heavy and tiresome for my wife but other than those small niggles I can highly recommend this product to anybody that finds cleaning to be a chore and especially to those with several pets.

I’ve been thinking about buying this since the summer but wanted to get it at the best price – got it for under 200 in the Boxing Day sale which I was very happy with!
I’ve been using an 8 year old hand me down Miele for 3 years and have been convinced it’s not sucking properly and this has absolutely proved me right. I vaccuum every day – so the carpet should have been fairly clean when I tested out this one. The picture attached is of when I had only hoovered the lounge – it pretty much filled up!! Made me feel quite ill that we’d been living on that much dust but ho hum.
Stairs are easy with the attachment and the lift away mode, and the headlights on the front make things easier too. Really glad I bought this.
The suction on this vacuum cleaner is really excellent and the carpets look really clean after vacuuming. It rides easily from carpet to hard floor and has the added bonus of lights on the front so that all tiny bits are picked up. It has an exceptionally long lead, which means that you don’t have to keep unplugging from one room to another. The only disadvantage is that it quite heavy but you do get used to it, the handle height is high too but this actually means when lowered it can reach under tables etc much further. I would definitely recommend it.
Having tried other brands of vacuum cleaners and been disappointed, I decided to check out a Shark. This machine has been well thought out. Easy lift away short and long wand, detectable canister for hand held operations. A good suction which can be adjusted to suit your requirements. Easy empty, easy to locate filters for cleaning. All in all a good alround vacuum, one criticism is it’s weight. As a complete unit it is rather hefty. But, as you break down the components it’s weight obviously then becomes lighter. Would recommend
Omg I am in love! The car kit is brilliant fir radiators, behind pipes, little gaps between appliances etc. The vacuum feels like quality. Picks up great bringing the pile back up on the carpet. Everything is labelled so you know what all the buttons are for. I hate cleaning my car but can’t wait for a dry day when I can get out there. Wish I hadn’t stuck with dyson for so long. I don’t normally write reviews but this deserves it. Only downside is it needs emptying quite often with three dogs
Best thing about this product I found was the suction and the amount of debris it removes from both hard and carpeted floors. The rubber cushioning around the head is great when you are going along skirting boards etc, no marks or knocks. I would highly recommend this shark vacuum, this beats all other brands used, Hoover, Dyson, Bosch. I bought the corded type purely and simply as I’ve had other cordless vacuums and the life of the battery does not last as long as I would like, at least with corded you never have this problem, the cord is long enough for my house.
Only negative comment I can find is that it is quite heavy, but that’s all
I have just used this vacuum cleaner for the first time, and it picked up a lot more dust than my old Vax machine, probably because of the ‘old’ rather than it being a Vax. One of the pictures shows a bag full of dust after cleaning the house.
What I liked:
– parts clip together easily and firmly.
– excellent cleaning ability
– the narrow foot makes it easy to clean little spaces between furniture, etc. where I would have had to use attachments preciously
– The detachable unit meant I could clean right under the king sized bed. Previously this was only done very occasionally as I needed to shift the bed from one stone of the room to the other.
– This also made stairs easy.
– The dust container is easy to empty if you do it on or below the maximum line.
– The light was bright and effective.
– nice long cable, I can plug in the hallway socket and clean several rooms.
What I didn’t like:
– The dust container is rather small. As this was the first time I used the cleaner and if was collecting more dust this meant emptying it rather frequently.
– If you keep going after the max line is reached the dust reaches a cone shaped filter which is tricky to clean
– if you have a large house or little furniture the narrow foot would mean it takes longer, but I would think for most people the advantage of teaching small spaces would outweigh this.
– it came with three attachments, there are two places that attachments can be fitted. This is a minor issue as you probably don’t need to take the stairs attachment with you round the house.
I have not had it long enough to tell how well it wears, but the five year warranty makes me thick it will be reliable.
We have always had dyson or vax hoovers and tried a change after the reviews and a Black Friday offer! Glad we did as this is probably the best hoover we have had – it’s very light to move around, really good on All surfaces, clever design makes the stairs easier and it’s great for pet hairs (we have four small dogs). Also looks great and has lights which is a nice extra feature!! It’s also very quiet to use which our kids appreciate!! Al in all very good so far with no issues!!
We have always had Dyson vacuum cleaners, from vack when they were really good. But our cordless wasn’t working well and it was time for a replacement.
While corded wasnt Ideal, the price of this vacuum swayed me and i ordered it.
My new shark arrived 14 hours after ordering (gotta love prime!) and my house was clean very soon afterwards.
Fantastic power, very quiet (no complaints from the whingers next door!) and manoeuvres brilliantly. The cord is long enough to do all the stairs (4 storey town house) without having to stop and unplug and the lift away is a brilliant idea, makes doing the stairs easy.
My only quibble is that it does need emptying fairly frequently.
I rarely leave reviews but this vacuum cleaner has really left me stunned. I’ve been using a Henry Hoover for a while and was growing frustrated at how it was performing – I have a short-haired dog and the dog hairs get trapped in the carpets. I’ve tried deep-cleaning the carpets with product and hoovering over and over, to no avail. I purchased my mother this Shark model, and boy does it clean WELL. We were shocked at how much pet hair came out of the carpet, having only hoovered yesterday (we usually hoover daily). The carpet genuinely had so much more texture, and using this hoover has revitalised carpet that we were considering replacing. The amount of money this has saved us in new carpet is incredible. The hoover is a little heavy (feels like I’m doing a bit of a workout), but no heavier than any other hoover I have used. It’s also ideal for doing the sofa and stairs, as you can detach the dust part from the rest of the body. I’ll keep recommending this product for the rest of my life!
Well I did the shark challenge and vacuumed my lounge and stairs with my existing vacuum cleaner and then went over them again with Shark. I was mortified with how much more the Shark picks up compared to my existing vacuum cleaner (well known cyclone brand) I didn’t think there anything was wrong with it, but clearly it isn’t as good as the Shark! I pride myself on having a clean house, especially as a result of COVID, clearly it wasn’t very clean! Take the challenge and see for yourself!
I needed a vacuum that deals with my girlfriends long thick hair that seems to get everywhere. My last vacuum burnt out because of the hair tangled up in it. I am really impressed with the SHARK as it deals easily with the hair and has a good suction. It also has a great stair/settee tool that is powered by the suction that cleans efficiently. In fact the whole design has been well thought out and it seems well built. It is very versatile in all home cleaning situations and very easy to empty and clean. The only drawback could be the rather small (10″) cleaning head if you have large floor areas but for me it is ideal.
I’m really pleased with the Shark vacuum. It was easy to assemble and has some really nice features. The pet hair system is great and the tool for cleaning the stairs means hoovering the stairs now takes a couple of minutes where as it used to take at least 20 with our old Dyson. The suction is really good and can be adjusted depending on the surface you are cleaning. The dust collection bin can be removed to get to those hard to reach places (looking at you coffee tables). Due to the portability of the collection unit, the collection bin is quite a lot smaller than the Dyson, however it is really simple to disconnect and empty and I don’t see it being a issue personally. The extra long lead is also a great feature which means less unplugging and plugging in when cleaning around the house. I’m very pleased with this purchase.
This vacuum cleaner has everything required to do the job it is meant for. Excellent pick up on both carpet and hard floors and easy to change between the two. I have a dog and the cleaner really does a good job dealing with pet hairs. I only gave four stars because it is very heavy . It is easier if you take the main cylinder away and either carry it in other hand or set it on floor beside you. This does make it a bit awkward sometimes but worth it for the efficiency of the vacuum. Very long lead is handy so you don’t have to change sockets all the time but again can be awkward keeping it out of the way. I was using a very lightweight cordless hoover so maybe it is just a case of getting used to this one.
OK fantastic product light enough to carry up and down the stairs cord long enough to let you do so
and OK we had to empty it a few times but that gose to show what our old vacuum cleaner was missing,
and it is easy to do so no great problems there.
This is supposed to have the no clog anty tangle hair thing on it but had to stop it 3 times because it got stopped by hair and cotton so I don’t think that but works as well as advanced. But the carpet looked better than it has been using my kerby
And it’s a dame sight lighter!
I bought the Shark in the Black Friday deals. Its fantastic, I’ve really put it through its paces. Cleaned the house multiple times and cleaned my father in laws house and that was in a really bad state. My previous vacuum was a kirby and for those who have used one will know it’s the tank of cleaners, extremely heavy and cumbersome. Because of the weight of the kirby I couldn’t clean as much as needed it was a chore and I knew it wasn’t picking up as it should. Along comes Shark and its changed everything. Moving carpet to tiles is a sinch, hoovering the stairs etc. It takes less than 30 minutes to clean a 3 bed semi, this is mainly due to the length of cord. The collection isn’t an issue for me as Iong as you keep on top of the vacuuming. It’s a game changer and the fact that the spares are easy and cheap to replace means i can regularly service the Hoover without masses of expense. Should be able to keep for years.
This Shark vacuum cleaner certainly have come a long way since it was first launched I seems now it is a major brand up with the likes of Dyson Vax & Hoover I has got a name for itself purely on recommendation. After 2 family members bought them and raved about their performance. I have no purchased the anti hair clogging version. It arrived from Amazon and was soon in operation on my carpets I was amazed how much dirt and fluff came up out of my carpet that I thought was clean and didn’t need vacuuming incredible performance. I am very happy with that.
However just a couple of niggles The Shark looks fairly small but its heavier than it looks and pushing it around its not quite as manageable as you think. The tool holders seem like an after though and fiddly to get the tools back in the correct fitting. Other than that it is a very good machine and the build quality feels good with solid clicks when releasing pipes and the lift away body I am happy with this product mainly on its incredible performance
Allow me to share the actual text I sent my work group chat after less than 2 hours with this vacuum:
“I love it. Like, I’m literally in love with this appliance. Its so quiet, its so smooth, it picks up EVERYTHING. It has HEADLIGHTS – i didnt realise i needed a hoover with headlights until i saw what I missed under the heater. Oh my god!”
There are more where I continue to rapsodise about my love for this vacuum, but I also start to drop some fbombs so I’ll probably get blocked. Suffice to say you NEED this vacuum.
After much deliberation, I bought this vacuum cleaner as a replacement for my 11+ year old Sebo Automatic Pet X4 which I knew would take some beating, despite some age related issues. The Shark is quite cute straight out of the box and only took a minute or so to assemble. I was expecting a heavy appliance given the reviews I read, but with two kids and a large dog, I figured it was probably a necessary evil. I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised – it’s definitely a workhorse, but it feels slightly lighter and it’s definitely more manoeuvrable than my old vacuum. It’s also a little lower and reaches some previously inaccessible spots under furniture. (Retrieved a ‘lost’ iPad, so that was a bonus :-D).
There are three main bits that can be used in various ways (the handle/hose, the bin/container and the floor sweeping base part.) With one click, you can detach the handle from the bin/base in two places to provide either a long or short reaching hose; you can even remove the bin part in the middle and connect the short handle directly to the sweeper. I thought this was a bit gimmicky until I realised how useful having a 1ft mini-vac was for stairs, or doing a full carpet vac under furniture without the restrictions of the bulky bin. The upper part of the handle has switches for carpet / floor settings and airflow. My previous vacuum cleaner did this automatically, but I have to say it was great being able to vacuum upholstery without covers and cushions etc trying to disappear up the hose was a much-improved experience.
I was amazed by how much the vac picked up – and more significantly how much really fine dust it sucked out of the carpet. It works well on floor and carpet; it was better than my old vac in relation to hard floors in the sense that it didn’t have so much of a draught that had a tendency to simply blow dust and debris around. It doesn’t seem to have much, if any suction from the sides, which I do kind of miss. The tools work well – particularly the crevice/brush tool for skirting boards and corners. Might forgive my other half now for throwing my old ones away when we moved house 12 months into owning my old vac.
Features I’m slightly less impressed by include the bin. I’ve never used a bagless in anger before, but I was a bit shocked how small the dust collecting part of the box was (specially in this house?!) – I’ll certainly be emptying it more often – I imagine after every couple of uses. The bin detaches really easily, but I didn’t find it that easy to empty – the dust canister part is quite narrow, so it needed quite a few shakes to dislodge it into the bin. This is definitely an outside job – trying to empty it into a kitchen bin or even a bin bag inside the house was really awkward and messy.
I’ve only used it a few times, but I don’t find the buttons and release mechanisms instantly intuitive – the on off switch is on the midsection at about knee height; the two hose release buttons are in different places along the hose; maybe that’s just a consequence of having had the old vacuum cleaner for such a long time.
Overall I’m definitely impressed and pleased with it. It does an excellent job and is much more versatile than what I’ve been used to.
We had already purchased a SHARK hoover with the Anti wrap tech and totally love it. So when I saw this on offer I thought why not. This Pet version is brilliant. I hoovered the lounge carpet and the amount of hair and dust that came up was unbelievable. So as a joke we suggested that we run over the carpet again and blow me even more dust came up from under the carpet pile. Fantastic. Having 7 fur babies this is a must and would recommend to anyone.
As a vacuum cleaner it’s excellent. The build quality, the versatility. It’s heavier than it looks but you can use it in so many modes it’s not a problem. The ‘headlights’ are actually quite useful not just a gimmick. Bagless, so that’s one less ongoing expense and fairly quiet too, but it doesn’t have a huge capacity. Emptying is so easy though . Seamless transition from carpet to hard floors. I was truly shocked what this machine picked up that my beloved Henry didn’t although Henry does things this can’t….liquids rubble, crud in my garage etc. That’s why all the builders use a Henry.
My primary motive for buying this was the anti hair wrap feature. My wife and daughter have very long dark hair, that gets everywhere (how can it get INSIDE cupboards?) I had a Dyson pet hair which always felt as if was going to break, and weighed a tonne, a Miele hair vacuum that was ultra compact and quiet, and of course a Henry which I still wouldn’t be without.
None of them worked on the hair problem.
So, with glee I thought my problem was solved. …….but once more, despite the tech, I still had hair wrapped all round the roller necessitating a scissors removal again.,, albeit a lesser amount. Henry excused as it has no roller.
I think my girls’ hair is some kind of spider silk/carbon nanotube hybrid.
All in all, for the sub 200 price I am very pleased, in 98% of ways it is a brilliant vacuum cleaner. However it doesn’t do EXACTLY what it says on the tin so I’m knocking a star off.
Recommended in every other way though.
Decided to bite the bullet and buy one of these, given I have 2 dogs (one being a shedding Golden Retriever) the anti-hair wrap was enticing.
Works brilliantly and really effective on getting dog hair up off the carpets. Love how portable it is too! Hoovering the stairs is no longer a treacherous ordeal.
The only down side is that there’s a little vent on top of the base with a circuit board directly below it, drop any water into that and the whole base stops working (as I found out when my partner spilled water into it). Thankfully it was quite easy to take apart and fix with a handful of rice.
Well, where to start. Firstly it looks like a great bit of kit, all sleek and modern looking, and it’s got headlights so it feels like you’re driving a little car.
Proper easy to put together without reading the instructions cos that’s the right way to go about things.
Then the performance – wowzers it can suck, thought it was going to pull the downstairs to upstairs through the carpet.
All comes apart to make cleaning the stairs an absolutely dream, I just wish this was about when I was a kid. Growing up in the 80s we had one of those upright Hoovers with a zip bag on the side with a paper bag on the inside – useless for stairs unless each step was the size of a pallet, in which case you had a weird house. Anyway, I suffered from Asthma pretty bad as a child but as it was the 80s this was no concern to my parents who made me sweep the stairs with a small brush. I’m surprised I’m still alive to be honest. If the Shark was about then it would have added another 10 years to my life I reckon.
Got very swift delivery from Amazon and was really excited to try it when it turned up, even though I was running late for a meeting I had to give it a go.
Fired it up in the front room that we don’t really use (yep, I’m doing pretty well for myself having rooms in the house that I don’t use) but do vacuum each week with the trusty old Dyson. Well blow me down, the little cleaning box was half full of dust and fluff and general detritus after 5 mins.
Also it’s surprisingly quiet, you could definitely maintain a mid range conversation with your half deaf gran when it’s switched on.
So I’ve had stern words with the Dyson and sent him to the loft to think about his actions.
Welcome to the house Shark.
Do yourself a favour and get one. It will not disappoint.
FANTASTIC HOOVER! I have never had a hoover like it. I have a dog and a cat and have never felt that I have been able to hoover up all their hair effectively until now. On my first time using it in my flat I had to empty it 3 times, it has amazing suction and the pet attachment works wonders!! The liftaway aspect makes doing stairs so much easier! The only slight down side is it is quite heavy so would not be suitable for anyone unable to carry something for long periods of time.
Spent a long time researching, reading reviews & dithering…before finally committing to buy. So glad I did, this vacuum is amazing!! Easy to assemble from the box, fairly heavy but not unmanageable. The suction power however, is immense…nearly ‘ate’ my rug until I adjusted the power features. The dust box does not have a large capacity, but it is not a problem to empty – I’m always amazed how much is picked up. Although I do have 2 dogs and hoped it would be efficient, I am extremely happy by the overall performance!
Great purchase.
I’ve had Dyson, Vax, Henry and various other vacuums but this beats the lot of them put together, I’d just hoovered when the bell rings and its my new Shark being delivered, like a child with a new toy I had to have a go and WOW!!! This hoover is amazing, I did the lounge and the compartment was full of dog fur (Golden Retriever) I was amazed so did the whole house again, the device was easy to put together and looks lovely, the suction is very powerful and although it’s not the lightest of machines it’s not too heavy to manage, it’s got a nice long cord and the lift away and all the tools are easy to use. I’ve also got a mixture of carpets and floor tiles and manages both with ease very quietly.

I cannot rate this hoover highly enough. I had an older dyson ball model which needed replacing after having burnt out after a couple of years. The difference in suction compared to the Dyson is absolutely night and day. We have two large dogs, one long haired and picking up the fur with the anti wrap technology has been a walk in the park. We were disgusted by areas we previously thought were cleaned by the dyson as they were ‘dog-free’ filled up the dust container almost immediately. The additional pet hair attachment is great for stairs and cars etc
I cannot speak to the longevity of this unit yet, but its certainly made a great impression so far
Having gone from a ball to an upright, I have to admit it definitely is noticeably heavier to weild but being able to remove the motor from the base negates this when on stairs etc
I know a lot of people here and commented about cat and dog hair and it being great for that but I have two rabbits. Two cat sized free roam rabbits. They have recently gotten their winter coats in and were shedding like crazy and it’s that thin, fluffy hair that coats your carpet and can be an absolute nightmare to hoover up.
This thing does exactly that. Even under the bed in lift off mode where it feels like the suction couldn’t possibly be getting it- it does. It sucks up the hay and the sawdust, the fur and general grubbyness very very easily and it’s a damn miracle machine.
It is a little heavy but not unmanageably so. I’m clumsy so I have to be careful not to trip over the cord but it also means one plug socket and I can go everywhere. The lift away function makes it easy to get under furniture and it’s very easy to clean- just make sure you clip everything back on the bottom correctly and if you feel a loss of suction you haven’t done it right.
Honestly the best purchase I have ever made and I really wouldn’t ever consider another brand of hoover now.
Great quality vacuum for hard floors and carpets. I live in a house with cats, dogs and girls work long hair so I needed something that is good at lifting hair from carpet and furniture, this is excellent. Really smooth to operate, a bit heavey on the turn out pulls apart really easily for lighter work. Had a Miele CX1 Powerline before and this a much better vacuum, might not have the top line power of the Miele but much better to actually vacuum with it’s excellent roller design.
Previously to buying this I had a vacs blade 2 which kept braking then gave me the powerone in exchange which is just as bad sore the shark on offer on a daily deal and was not disappointed both the vacs were rubbish for cleaning rugs and felt like if you could manage to half clean them they hadn’t done a good job the shark does them brilliantly got loads of dust out that the vacs had missed suction is great used the stair tool that’s good and suction nice and strong some reviews say it’s a little bet heavy I find it lighter than the both vacs one and blade 2 it’s also very good on hard floors overall very pleased with my purchase
We have 2 dogs and a teenager and it definitely shows on our carpets! We were at the point of looking to replace them all with wooden flooring, but took a final chance on this vacuum cleaner to replace our Vax pet version. So pleased we did, despite being horrified at the amount of dirt, hair and dust that it picked up, our carpets now look like (almost!) new. You do need to empty the dust collector quite often, but not really a problem, easy to do. Also a lot quieter, and lighter than the Vax. Highly recommended!!
Our – admittedly old – Dyson couldn’t make any impression of the hairs from 2 dogs in the carpets so googled new hoovers. Dyson came out on top but 600 for a hoover? So opted for this Shark model and it is fantastic, carpets look like new, maybe slightly heavier than Dyson but for half the price its still a better deal. Like other models they are clever in the sense that the dust container is quite small and needs to be emptied quite a lot but it is a relatively straightforward operation and still worth it for the overall effectiveness of the machine.
I have owned a lot of vacuum cleaners over the years, including most of the big brands, such as Dyson, Hoover, Little Henry, Vax, etc. My main vacuum was no longer working, and it would probably have cost more than it was worth to sort out due to it’s age, so I opted for one of these as they seem to be very popular at the moment. They also get very good reviews.
Overall I am pleased with it, although as the title says it is not perfect. First the good points:
1) it picks up the dirt well.
2) It is lightweight and can be used on stairs
3) the attachments work well, and it can be used to clear high areas such as ceilings
4) it goes around corners nicely, and fits into places which a larger model would be unable to do.
5) it is bag-less, which makes emptying it fairly straightforward
The not so good points:
1) it claims to have a mechanism to remove hair, but on the very first use I had to untangle the rollers by hand as it got clogged up with some long hairs
2) The dust compartment is quite small, and needs to be emptied after almost every use (not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of
3) it comes with three cleaning attachments, but there are only two places for storage on the cleaner. This means the third one will probably get lost, unless you can trust yourself to have a designated storage space for it.
4) The vacuum tube feeds along the back of the unit, and has a fastening point to attach it to the body. This mechanism simply does not work, so the tube does not say in place and flaps around in a really annoying way whilst you are vacuuming. For me this is the biggest problem, and I nearly sent the unit back as a result. Having used it a few more times, the problem is still there but I’ve decided to put up with it as I like the unit otherwise. I think this is a design flaw, so not point in asking for a replacement as I believe the problem would still be there.
So overall I like it, but it’s not perfect.
The last 20 years I have bought and trusted Dyson vacuum cleaners. My new Shark beats them all! So glad I took the risk to change. It’s easy to assemble, and switch from carpet to hard floors, it’s a doddle to empty, and the suction is simply perfect – we went over carpets previously vacuumed with a Dyson and the amount of dust / pet hair lifted off was incredible! It’s also far quieter than anything I’ve used before. Excellent value for money, I thoroughly recommend switching to Shark if you’ve not had one before!
I love it , it really beats Dyson because I have had two of them and neither were any good. I also bought a Vax pet the wand type that you have to charge .I had it a week then sent it back because it’s rubbish, I call it a glorified Ubank . The price of the Vax pet and the Shark is around ten pounds more on the Shark , and the Shark beats them hands down .
It has fantastic suction, I have the one with the pet one with anti hair wrap .
Thank you for making a Shark Vacuum, if I could give 1000% I would do .
I have always used Dyson cleaners, so was quite apprehensive changing make. After my old vaccum cleaner was passed its best I wanted a change and was swayed by the fact it had a lift away part. I wasn’t disappointed it picks up dirt brilliantly. It does look like it cleans beter than my previous cleaner but I think this may be because the bin is so much smaller so it looks like it has picked up a lot more. The suction is great and it’s a bonus you don’t have to get hairs off the roller!
we were deciding whether to buy a shark vacuum a few years ago. We have had dyson for years as they were technically the leading brand in vacuum cleaning. However after using dyson and Gtech, we decided on testing the duo clean anti hair wrap shark. We were absoloutely stunned by how much this vacuum pulled form the carpet. Its suction is market leading. And the change up from tile to carpet enhances the performance. Corded yes but what you get is a really impressive performing vaccum cleaner. The anti hair wrap is seriously next level and my wife is always molting. The fact I no longer have to pick here hair out of the rotating bar is an absolute dream. This is truly the vacuum of vacuum. 9 out of 10 simply because the cord could be a bit longer.
We have new carpet fitted and have been using a Dyson corded animal vac, my wife was away for a wile so I had to do the vacuuming, talk about a work out, so doing a load or research found that the Dyson had no hight or vac adjustment and that is what is needed, this vac is so easy to push around and the amount that it picked up was amazing it has a setting for carpet and hard floor and the suction can be adjusted to, I have been a life long Dyson fan but not any more, this will out preform our newish Dyson with ease oh and it is quite to.
This is–by far–the most expensive hoover I’ve ever purchased and I was hesitant to do so. I’ve got a golden retriever and thick carpets. So I’ve been battling (and losing) pet hair since we got the dog. I’ve tried a brand new Bosch pet hoover from Costco, a used Dyson cyclone pet hoover, and a myriad of others. Nothing worked and it made me hesitant to spend so much on another hoover that wouldn’t be worth it.
How wrong I was! This lifts so much hair and dander out of the carpet it’s effing unbelievable. It’s surprising quiet. It’s not light and can be a bit stiff to push around, but that’s in part because of the duo roller really aggitating the carpet. And that’s what gets up so much pet hair. My wife’s jaw dropped at how much of a difference there was even after we just used our old Dyson to compare.
Well I am very impressed, so much so that I’m leaving a review! I’ve got through many Dysons which have been fine but hair wrapped around the roller has always been a big deal. So I was intrigued when I read the reviews as I did not think the hoover could be that great but it is. Excellent suction, gets out more dirt than the Dyson and really does collect the hair without clogging up the roller. I live in an old dusty house and the picture shows the dirt and hair from the stairs and my daughters room. She had already emptied the dirt from the bottom of the carrier and this pile is from the top part where all the hair collects, and none to be found on the roller! It is quite heavy hence the three stars but then it has to have a strong motor for the suction. Lovely manoeuvrable roller head too.

Superb for me to spend 250 quid on a hoover is a big thing but I love it. The headlights are superb (I’m obsessed with lights). Seriously this has transformed my carpets like many have said. I have a big German Shepherd who melts like crazy and you should see the hair its picked up. Did the stairs and every room in the house perfect. Not sure on the odd negative feedback I dont know what some people expect, the build quality is brilliant once you get used to all the buttons to lift away and use certain features of the hoover and also has a hard floor button and carpet button so no idear how it ruined someones flooring but each to there own I guess. Never owned shark brand before and this for me was a brilliant investment to keep the house tidy with ease. If you need a good hoover with impressive features and …headlights, this is the one!
Absolutely great product, my other hooves get clogged with hair from myself & my daughter who has very long hair. Quite a heavy hoover but it gets loads of stuff out of your carpet, I tried it on my daughters bedroom floor first, was amazed at how much hair came out, separates tbe hair from tbe dust & dirt.
Great for pet hair it’s amazing how much it gets up & carpets feel great after being hovered, attachments work really well, & lead long, I could take middle part that collects hair & dirt off hoover & hoover all tbe stairs while not having to carry whole hoover.
You get the odd hair on wheel but just pulls off. Hoover great for hoovering under chair without having to move them.
Not the best looking hoover its name suits the hoover!!
Would highly recommend.
Shark is a star! I’ve been looking for a vacuum cleaner for some years now. I used Dyson previously, and the early models were great, but then they started innovating… The ball upright vacuum is a big disappointment. I tired VAX. This was ok, but broke quite quickly. It also had serious design flaws. I tried cheap vacuums, but these were completely useless. Shark is excellent in pretty much every area. I have floors and thick long pile carpets, and finding the right vacuum was a huge challenge. This machine is just excellent. Picks up everything from any surface with ease! The anti hair wrap does work really well. We have three females with very long hair, and all the other hoovers were full of wrapped hair. Shark solved the problem, amazing! It is light, easy to push, in fact it pules itself. Hoovering a thick carpet is not a problem any more. The big head can be used for hoovering stairs as the whole thing can be easily clicked and unclicked in different configurations. Everything fits perfectly and works perfectly. And believe me, I haven’t been paid for this review. I’m an engineer, and I just appreciate good design and the thought that went into this machine. Good materials as well. Wheels are rubbery, so they won’t scratch your floor or bounce on it. Just great. However, I returned this particular model as it had a slightly too small dust compartment for my liking. We have a lot of floor surface, so I replaced with a bigger model. But, for a smaller house, absolutely not a problem, in fact it is lighter and easier to manoeuvre than the big one. 100% recommended. Don’t look elsewhere.
To be honest I’m happy with this vacuum. It’s a well thought out designed machine and super quiet. The dust storage is small but it is really easy to empty and clean. And washing the filters could not be easier though they take a day or so to dry. I might order a spare filter set. Luckily you don’t need to wash them a lot. 1 month 1st wash.
All but one tool from the three it comes with can sit on the vacuum. It’s also quite narrow so fits in areas that others do not.
If you remember to switch it to hard floor mode it sucks up well. If you forget and leave it on carpet mode the brush has a habit of flicking the dirt away.
Wife has long hair and I have not seen any hair tangled round the brush so I’m guessing that’s working well.
I bought this because of the anti hair feature – my previous cleaner just could not cope with long hairs and I was always having to cut the roller free. This vacuum is very good on carpets and soft furnishings but not so good on hard surfaces. It is very heavy too. My previous hoover was a GTECH which was very good, lightweight and manoeuvrable apart from the difficulties it had with long hair. Disappointingly, it just didn’t last and despite regular cleaning of filters and rollers, it eventually “died” because the internal workings (which you cannot access to clean) got clogged up. I took it to be repaired but was advised that it would not be economical. Hence the new Shark. Hopefully this will be more robust (has a 5 year guarantee) than its predecessor. No complaints so far – apart from the weight.
My last few hoovers have always been Dyson, but after my most recent one broke out of warranty not long after a service, I thought it might be worth looking at other brands.
I was a bit hesitant going for a Shark, but had heard good things from friends. Happy to say that I am absolutely delighted with it. Its easy to use with good suction power, but it’s portability and flexibility are its main pro’s.
Hoovering stairs was an absolute chore with my Dyson, but the Shark makes the job so much easier with the way it disassembles in seconds thanks to the lift-away feature.
My only peeve would be that the bin is quite small, but I am not going to dock it a star for this, mainly because the hoover is so light and portable that its easier to move around, and also that the bin is so ridiculously easy to empty that you don’t spend much time on it.
Highly recommend this vacuum cleaner, if you are on the fence – go ahead and buy it!
Compared to Vacuum cleaners I’ve owned before (including Dyson, Henry, and even the very expensive Kirby – which I still use for the car, but far too heavy for the home) it has the best suction, and is incredibly versatile.
Very easy to set up and use, and with one flick of a button, the main part detaches, and the foot can reach under most furniture, including beds.
The negatives are not deal breakers, but should be mentioned:
(i) Needs to be emptied a few times if you vacuum a 2/3 bedroom home (and we do ours every week)
(ii) Some of the attachments fit as if they are for a different model, but the do fit, and stay on.
(iii) The foot could have done with being a couple of inches wider, and this affects the balance.
(iv) The lead is actually a bit longer than some other makes, but could have been 2 Metres longer to avoid having to unplug for different rooms.
The advert is accurate, which is quite rare, and the quality of the vacuum cleaner’s build is very good.
The price is very good for what you get, and in terms of performance, it would be hard to beat (it literally pulls the fitted carpet up off the floor on full setting!). Highly recommended.
Amazing. I can’t believe how much this sucks up. I hoovered on Monday, then my family came to visit, there were a couple of boys on the carpet from opening presents so I gave it a quick hoover and I couldn’t believe how much it picked up just from one day. It feels so clean every time I hoover. It’s still quite heavy and the lift away is no cordless but I’ve always been disappointed with the power of a cordless and battery life. The cleaning power of this makes up for the drawbacks of not having a cordless.
Amazing vacuum cleaner. I have 2 cats & the hair this cleaner picks up is amazing. I love the lift away feature & the pet attachment which is great for sofas & the stairs. This vacuum cleaner is an upright & cylinder in one. Love the headlights when cleaning under sofa or beds! I bought on a Black Friday deal. Having had the vacuum for a few weeks now, I would honestly have paid 300 for it because it really is that good. Worth every penny – I feel my house is much cleaner now!!
Brilliant product easy to use uprig. And can take off section so you hold it. Only bad points I would say is that the electric wire personally I think is not long enough and the dust waste could be a little bigger other than that really super happy with it! So easy to use different parts and easy to put it back together aswell!
I am absolutely enamored with this vacuum cleaner. I didn’t know that a household appliance could make a person so happy lol. My previous vacuum cleaner was a Henry and I absolutely hated it. It was annoying to move around, the hose was too short which meant I was always bent over, the cord tangled- it was generally just the most annoying appliance I have ever used. I saw this vacuum cleaner on a deal and thought I would give it a go, the reviews were good and it looked slick and like it would tick all the boxes for me.
It works so well and it is so so nice to use after using a Henry for several years. It pulled so much dust out of my carpets it was disgusting. Since purchasing this vacuum I have noticed the overall level of dust in my home has reduced significantly. When we used to clean the house within a few hours you could see dust settling on glass surfaces etc that is no longer the case and I’ve only vacuumed my full home about five times since purchase.
I thought the anti-hair wrap technology was a gimmick but actually it works really well. I have nearly waist length hair that gets everywhere and I was forever having to take scissors to my Henry to cut the hair out of it. When I check the head for this vacuum cleaner there is nothing wrapped around either of the brushes, which is fantastic.
It is slightly heavier but it is easy to manoeuvre, it doesn’t feel heavy unless you actually lift it up. The lift away and all the different ways you can use the vacuum cleaner make cleaning your home a slick and easy job. I love that I can vacuum the floors and then pull out the handlr to do the baseboards and easily lift off the canister to clean other places all with the click of a button.
I really can’t say enough good things about this vacuum cleaner and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Saying that I wouldn’t pay 300 for it, it might be worthwhile but that just seems like a lot of money for a vacuum to me. I purchased this for around 179 and it feels like an excellent value for money at that price.
After reading a few reviews about how heavy this cleaner was and how the suction was so strong it was not capable of running over carpets to clean, I bought this item with reservations. I must say, however, that I have been delighted with its performance so far. It is heavier than a cordless cleaner but certainly not too heavy for me. Using it on stairs is just a little harder but the detachable item helps.
The suction is very good and not difficulty for me to manoeuvre, even though I’m in my 70s and have one long pile carpet. The container is a little small but not a problem as I empty it after each use.
This is, by far, the best cleaner I have had for a long time and, as long as it carries on performing this way for some years to come, I would certainly recommend it.
Update: I have had this for a few years now – still going strong.

My Shark has just been delivered and I have vacuumed the whole house. It’s a bit heavier than I expected but it’s very vanouverable. The light shows up the dust a great addition but the dust collector is a bit small.
I will willingly recommend the Shark.
