I have a few Ryobi cordless tools, The router is good but I do feel it is a little expensive, Having said that it is a good product and ideal for small jobs where an edge is needed.
The run time for the battery is very good, you also get a guide .
Works well for basic routing work, it’s lightweight but effective and the battery life is good. Setting the depth can be a little hit and miss, but once you have the bit set the mm scale works well.
Not as powerful as I had hoped. (Using a 4ah battery)
And guide rails a bit flimsy.
But overall for smaller jobs, just putting a camfer on a board or so it’s perfect. Light and portable. Still good value.
I was putting in a 12mm deep straight groove in a board. Had to first do 4mm, then another 4, then another 4. Got there in the end and result is good but a bit of hassle.
Also, make sure your bits are high quality. Lots of complaints I see here in reviews is not about thus machine but about the router bits
Brilliant palm router I bought this to go fully cordless fitting fire doors. The speeds perfect for doing hinges.
Only negative I have is the chamber can fill up around the router bit.
This is a great 1/4 inch router especially if you have the ryobi batteries already. Only issue I personally have is the cost, but at the moment I guess everything is slightly inflated. Works perfectly for what I needed it for which is to fit new hinges to new doors and making new panelling edges. Would still definitely recommend.

I have a bigger, more powerful two handle router which is great for doing larger, heavier work but the Ryobi Trim router is just so handy for small edging and rebating door hinges etc where the heavier one is more work. A great 18v tool to have in your collection.
If you have invested in ryobi batteries then it’s a great little router it’s not a plunge so don’t expect it to handle that type of job but for rounding over of soft and hard woods it’s coping very well. Some say the collet is no good but I’ve not had any issues and expect this was people not fitting bits properly rather than a mechanical faul
Being a bit of a novice with this type of tool, it took me a while to et used to how it moves across a piece of wood. Got the hang of it after while. Changing the tool tips is fairly straightforward so long as you ensure to use the right adaptor collar as there are two spindle sizes. The spindle locking bar is very handy to immobilise the spindle while you swap out the tool tip. Recommend that you only replace a tool tip with the battery removed as this is the safest way to do it.
Nice and light, even with the big 5Ah Battery. Perfect for the small detailed jobs

Having never used a router before I used it to round some edges for a handrail. The Ryobi router was easy to set up and use. It does make a lot of mess but that’s expected. It went through the edge like butter. It come with a single straight bit and a guide. The guide is only useful in some cases and rarely used.

It’s not quite as solid as I’d like, compared to full size router, there can be quite a lot of vibration from the shaft – (before any of you say) yes, even going slow with sharp cutter….. But that’s the trade off, compact, easy to use with battery power. Overall Good tool- definitely worth the money!.

Already have Ryobi One+ system so made sense to get this, it’s a great little trim router, plenty of punch as long as you remember it’s not a 1/2″ mains powered router, and will give great results. Comes with edge guide and straight bit, it will get well used with me.

This trimmer is great for small jobs I’ve used it for edging and trimming out door hinges. Battery lasts ok if you have a larger capacity one.

What an epic little tool, punches above its weight provided you know how to use it! 20mm deep in a sleeper and this thing did it in two passes.
Service from buying to arriving was good. Use of the router is easy, was so glad that I bought a battery operated unit as have mainly used in the garden so not tied to a mains lead.

Im a bit of a Ryobi fanboy and i have a range of tools that all use the ONE+ battery – i bought this to trim the hinge section and door latches on some new doors in the house, works a treat and a much nicer finish than trying to chisel them out.
I have messed around with edging some wood and it looks great, im sure you can do some super cool woodwork projects and i will have a go when i have my new mancave. There are some excellent Youtube videos available for anyone wanting to know how to make use of this quality tool.

Nice little router, I got this to do a few small projects around the house. Perfect. Very quite and easy to use. I would recommend buying a box of bits to go with it, they are very cheap.
Lasts about 10-15 minutes with the 1.5Ah battery that came with my drill. It is very easy to use and a very accurate tool. Shame it does not include a copy router bit, but at this price, it can be forgiven.

I have several routers and a router table which are great but take time to set up, OK when doing a lot of shaping but this is easy to set up for smaller jobs like rounding edges. Bought it 18 months ago to replace a Bosch hand held which expired and it made sense to try One+ as I have several tools and batteries.
It could do with a speed controller but used with care and a steady hand works very well and wouldn’t want to be without it.
Got this on an Amazon flash sale. Very pleased with it. Useful to have a cordless trimmer in the power tool horde.
For small jobs, especially those well away from a power source, this is a great little router. Copes quite happily with most jobs and is small and light.
Bought for a forthcoming project for my new home. Ryobi have never let me down yet from Drivers to Drills so stayed with a brand I know.

Not a bad little product. My only problem with it is the difficulty in changing the bits. It’s difficult and awkward. The least used of my Ryobi tools. And the only one I have not given a 5 star review.
Wow, 29,000 rpm! Good huh? Well, it turns out, no, this isn’t so great. Why not? Because there is no speed control. And router bits are all speed rated. Even a chamfering bit requires max 18,000 rpm. And this is exactly the sort of operation I thought a router like this existed to perform. It can do it, but it’s at your own risk if you use a router bit that might come apart on you at 29,000 rpm. I am disappointed tbh, and only now when it’s too late do I realise why other brands all have speed control.

Amazing trim router, match it with a 5.0amp battery and there’s no stopping it, I’ve had a great experience with it so far and the fact your legs aren’t tied up with cables is a god send. The only downside is that Ryobi haven’t made any dust collection or vacuum attachment options, other than that I’d definitely buy it again!

Nice device, as are most ryobi one+ tools. This could do with a variable speed controller, but other than that, very good. Quick and easy to use, compared to mains router.
Cracking wee tool, just be warned tho its sore on a battery. Small battery lasts about 10mins, even the 4.0ah battery takes a beating.

Delivered bang on time.
Used it a few times and did the job well. It was much more accurate than my old router which had too much free play and very often ended in a few mm of error misalignment. This one do not have that free play at all. Although this one is designed only for side cut and not plunge cut but it is in the name and specificaion.
Easy to adjust the depth of cut with the knurl screw. Good kit. I use the battery from my other Ryobi One tool and last much more than my needed cutting time.
Handles well, would of preferred a more accurate height adjustment but very manageable. Purchased to supplement other ryobi tools and batteries.

Good bit of kit but not the quality of Dewalt so slightly miffed that these are so expensive.
Still a good router though
Another good product by Ryobi a nice sized unit in the hand that is solidly built. The depth adjustment and micro adjuster work well. Unit is well balanced with a 5ah battery and has good runtime.

Made my own door latch strike plate jig out of scrap wood which works really well.
Absolutely brilliant!
Slight niggle is the location of the on/off switch which is away from where your hands are holding the tool but it’s by no means a deal breaker.
Be aware though that this is NOT a plunge router so any cuts made that do not start on an open edge will need a starting hole for the router bit to fit in BEFORE YOU TURN IT ON otherwise it will fly off. Likewise get in the habit of turning the router off before lifting away from your work.

was used to corded, heavy weight ones and in the choice to go cordless had to replace my good old router with this one: no trouble, does the job perfectly, enough power to fly through the wood, easy to replace the bits, battery last a long time.
At the 60 odd quid I paid this is an absolute bargain. It’s powerful, has a light, fence, easy fine depth adjustment. The fence rails screw in which is a pain if you want to keep your setting but remove the fence and reattach later. Fine adjust on the fence would have made it perfect but most trimmers lack this. Recommended.
with a 2ah battery this is not so cumbersome as a corded model. Nice to use.
It’s easy to use, has been very reliable and feels like a sturdy piece of kit.
Is it the best? No idea, I already had the batteries and wanted a small router so I’d stop tangling myself in cables and this has met the requirements for me.

Bought this to complement my plunging router. Compact and lightweight compared with my plunging router. Well made and easy to use. Produces a nice clean cut which is ready to paint without further sanding. Good addition to my growing collection of Ryobi One+ tools.

And so here we are at a cordless router. What a great thing. Really. At last count I have six routers. A couple of 1/2″ for the bigger stuff and one 1/2″ fitted to a bench and three 1/4″ ones for light work. All are mains powered and useful especially as I have each one fitted with different but regularly used bits. But….not having that cord makes life so much easier.
And a battery router makes a lot of sense. Because the bits are not huge diameter the need for epic torque isn’t there so you can get really useful life out of a cordless router. Without the utter pain of dragging a cord around.
Build quality is superb. On the outside at least. That said, over the years I’ve been buying Ryobi I can see an upward curve in standards – and price of course. And Ryobi is owned mand made by the same people who own and make AEG, Milwaulkee, Hoover etc. You are not telling me that the Hong Kong owners are using different tooling for the same gear. Different colours maybe.
Anyway, this tools is well made and feels it. Robust and nice to hold in the hand – despite the admittedly top heavy look.
The adjustment and clamp is excellent with easy operation and adjustment. Almost as good as the more expensive and undisputedley high end Makita – which I have compared this with because my son has it. I admit the Makita is better – but not by much. And when you already have the batteries this is a no brainer.
In use it works excellently. In the picture I have tried this out on a very well dried out bit of English oak board which is damed hard to cut. This didn’t bog at all and cut just as easily as my 1/4″ corded router.
