This is my second one got one about 6 years ago so pleased so bought new one, However it’s faulty will only work with remote as on button is broken just springs back , as the remote is small it’s easy misplaced which happened to us as my husband is housebound at mo & I’m partially disabled we ended up pay22 for a replacement remote in fairness amazon gave us this money back , but with fire still having 14 months guarantee iv sent in 5 emails to Dimplex with no reply I’m allowing until
Fri to allow holidays over to give them
A bigger chance to fix or repair incase happens again eg battery done & we can’t get replacement for few days, if I don’t hear by then I’m taking it to trades discrimination or Omnibus .too much money for something that doesn’t work right my other fear is if constant use of infer ted remote will that break down as well
Attractive fire, attractive flame effect, sits flush to wall but with a sloped top frame, does not look too chunky. Fan has a little noise, but that’s expected.
This electric fire from Dimplex seemed to tick all the boxes. Firstly, I could push it in front of the existing fire without going to the expense and mess of having the gas fire removed.
Secondly, I could just use the real flame effect whilst the central heating warmed the room.
I have to say I was immediately very impressed with how effective the real flame looked and would recommend this fire to anyone in a similar position to myself.
Just a word of warning….I returned the first fire they sent, as the real flame effect was randomly switching itself off (Amazon’s customer service were excellent). The second fire Amazon replaced it with did the same. It was only by chance that I realised that there was nothing faulty about either fire…..it was one of the buttons on my TV remote that must have been the same IR frequency as the fire that was turning it off! I hope this information helps someone and you don’t end up feeling like a complete Muppet like I did!
I decided not to use supplied coal but some amber stones instead. It’s on a free standing plinth. The one real negative I have is the situation of the controls and working them. Underneath the canopy where the heat comes out. Impossible to see if you have any mobility problems. I have storage heaters and this was more for a room feature. Trying the heat output it is very hot. So is the grille where you have to find the controls. Not the best design feature I’m afraid. On the side would have been easier! Maybe manufacturers could have a rethink!
Instructions could also be clearer. Saying that I do like it and have received many compliments on it.
Perfect, covers existing gas fire, free standing no installation and looks great.
Mine does not click or make excessive noise as mentioned in other reviews. Everything is in the box: fire, coals (they are NOT dusty), a magnetic Dimplex badge for the front to hide the ‘ Do not cover ‘ if it bothers you. Even a glove to use when adding the coals.
Very happy with my choice.
Put it in place, plug it in. Job done.
I bought this to replace the gas fire during a heater/back boiler replacement.
Of course, the gaping hole in the wall had to be repurposed and this fire was part of the decoration.
The flame effect is very good and the slight noise is much less than the original gas boiler and heater arrangement.
So far I am very happy with this heater.
Had the fire for a few months now and no problems. Just plug it in and away you go!
This a good quality fire with built-in surround edge so sits nicely flush to the wall. The heat output is very good and the flame effect is realistic, only thing I would have liked to be able to control the flame speed.
Bought the Dimplex Electric Fire from Amazon. Noticed it was around 40 cheaper as the packaging was damaged. Nice fire, packaging was damaged, but no problem with the contents.
Nice looking fire, a lot of coal, didnt use all of it. Had to wash coal prior to putting it in place, very coal dus
Flame effect with real coal looks realistic and can be used without switching on the heat settings. There is a very useful small remote control. You can choose between 1KW and 2KW heat settings and there is a thermostat as well. It warms up a room quickly and it looks really good.
Haven’t yet used the heater, just made sure it works so can’t really comment. The fire was really easy to fit, no problem at all. It looks much nicer than I expected, have placed it in front of my gas fire and was worried it might be a bit overpowering but it isn’t. One thing though, shame dimplex don’t do different types of back, would have been nice if it blended in a little more. Only down is the remote, it only turns it on and off, no option for level of heat but at the price I paid who can complain?

Needed to change from our old gas fire. This free standing fire is easy to fit and operate. Has real coal and realistic flames. Gives out a good heat and quickly warms the room.
Arrived a day early and was very easy to set up, the flame effect looks very realistic. The heat output on both settings is very good and the controls are easy to use, haven’t used the on/off remote yet. We’re very impressed with this fire and feel it’s a real bargain.

The remote is a waste of time really, it only switches the fire on and off, so I don’t use it.
Overall, I am quite happy with my purchase.
