fantastic and the speakers work a treat, if your wanting to go good quality without spending ridiculous amounts then i 100 percent recommend you by this. if i would change anything i would add a stylus lift so that you can move the needle without using the finger lift which (if your clumsy) can risk you nocking and scratching your vinyl. but overall, fantastic value for the money
I’ve been after a record player for a while and decided on this after the reviews and I’m so glad I did. The set up was easy, thanks to the video in the product pic selection. The sound is wonderful, and the design fits in very well with my decor. I’d heartedly recommend this record player!
Really nice build quality, feels and looks really premium. Great sound, the speakers are really good, they get loud enough and are super clear whilst being easy to upgrade if you wished. 10/10 would recommend, very happy with my purchase.
Easy setup and easy to use, I only wish I had seen the version with built in speakers before hand, in this version they are 2 seperate units and they sound amazing
I bought this for my partner as an early Christmas present, and it has been absolutely delightful for both of us.
As first time record player owners, the set up was a little daunting, but the instructions were clear and we were listening to our first vinyl in a matter or minutes. The sound quality of the speakers was the thing i was most wary of, but i have been pleasantly surprised by both the crispness of the audio quality and the volume.
The Bluetooth is also very easy to set up and use and the aesthetic of the player itself is very much my style.
My only slight nitpick, is that it’s not entirely clear how to wake up the player when in goes into sleep mode, but once you’ve got it figured out (hold the “mode” button for a few seconds) it’s a breeze.
After a month of almost daily use, I have to say this has got to be one of the best purchases I’ve made in the last few years.
Lobe the look, modern yet old school, shame it doesn’t have self return arm though
It’s smart looking there are 2 different instructions 1 written and other diagrams if you ignore the diagram and only use written one it only takes seconds to get the arm rite sound is very good and great value for the money would definitely recommend
Set up was a little bit complicated but the video on the Amazon product page helped and was easy to follow
I bought this for my grand daughter to replace one I bought from hmv last Xmas which the sound was like it was coming out of a dustbin these is 10 times better sounding and now I have connected new rega speaker cable sounds even better a great buy at a great price I can’t praise it enough
Great looking item, sound quality is good for the price, could benefit from better speaker cables as I needed to upgrade them. Also the arm is weighted using fishing line ???? A bit risky
But overall a great produc
This turntable is absolutely amazing, I had my reservations at first as I read a few negative reviews, but the fact that around 80% of the reviews are positive speaks volumes. I have no idea why there are any negative reviews; maybe some people can’t or won’t read the instructions or just don’t know how to use an upper market turntable. The bass and Treble are fantastic and the bouncing between the speakers creates an amazing surround sound. I would highly recommend
Very easy to use. Good sound quality. Was very sceptical about buying, but I’m very happy that I did.
The player looked and felt great. The records played well and the speakers were decent enough for the price. There is an auto-off feature to save energy which came very handy.
All that said, I had to ask for a refund (promptly fulfilled with Amazon) because the tone arm was left biased. It was swing leftwards (towards the arm rest) when in in the air. This wasn’t so much of an issue initially, but over the first 4 months it got worse to the extent that it couldn’t stay on the playing record any more. This obviously is a big issue.
Apart from that the only small issue is that the location of the anti-skating weight meant that it knocked the lid when it was down, could have been better positioned.
If the tone arm issue was fixed it would have been a pretty great manual record player with a built-in bluetooth receiver.
Another thing to mention was that when the tone arm stopped working correctly Amazon was really great in refunding it but I was keen on just getting a replacement part / repair. Unfortunately they couldn’t do that (despite being a manual and changeable design) so I had to end up contributing to waste. I hope they are able to renew the product with a new tone arm.
My next record player purchase will be with a record player that can be repaired rather than junked!
This sounds great out of the box.. the supplied speakes are smooth with a nice bass punch and it looks and sounds higher end than the price tag..
I’ve played around and even paired it with my Marantz amp and Monitor audio Gold speakers with sliver speaker cables bi-wired. This turns this into a 2k setup and the line out performed great..
Now for my biggest surprise.. I changed the supplied speaker cables to heavy copper HIFI quality cables (difficult to get in the speak out on the deck, these could have been a bit larger) and connected the Monitor audio gold’s directly to the turntables built-in amp..
WOW thought I was going to have trouble driving the speakers, but no it drives them well and the sound is amazing. Intact I have sacrifice a bit of top end volume and a very small amount of clarity for the streamline look without a power amp and I’m happy with the results for casual listening..
You need to know that you can’t alter the balance, bass or treble, if you want this then you’re going to have to use an amp, however the preset settings and good..
One note when buying…. this only does Bluetooth input not out… so you can’t pair with Bluetooth speakers., but then again I don’t like Bluetooth speakers as the cable you save is then replaced with a larger power cable.. so not a problem for me..
When connecting your phone via Bluetooth the sound is equally good and once again I was surprised..
So far a very happy custome
Very happy with the turntable, great sound and well made. Speakers are nice two. Very good packaging and info.
Being able to connect via USB is really helpful and easy to do. To me it is good value.
Bought this just after Christmas. When it arrived it was easy to set up and sounded amazing. Unfortunately after a few weeks we noticed the motor was turning way too slow distorting the sound. I emailed customer service who sent me a new belt and advised to put some oil in. I tried this and it still wasn’t working so customer service said they’d send me out a replacement free of charge which came within 2 days.
The new one works great it’s a really nice piece of kit and the sound quality is second to none. The customer service made the whole experience a pleasure and I couldn’t recommend the product or the company highly enough.
Well made and a great sound. Easy to set up. Didn’t expect much but i can honestly say this is a lovely system. Great sound
A little bit confusing as for the beginner but u got into it quickly. Absolutely stunning performance and look. Love i
Easy to put together, I found it easier to follow both the instruction leaflet and the more detailed instruction book together, a really good depth of sound quality and clarity, and very good value for money.
Really pleased, brought my vinyl record collection back to life, I’d forgotten just how good vinyl brought out the music and vocals.
Go straight to you tube and watch the set up video
Excellent produc
Fantastic sound especially on those old vinyls, easy to use would highly recommend
I found the video more useful to set it all up. It was easier to follow than the booklet.
A really good turntable and speakers. A bit of an effort to set up balancing arm and anti skid. Works beautifically enabling us to enough long forgotten records
Great little all in 1 turntable and speaker system. I got this as a present for my girlfriend over Christmas, and she loves it. I DJ so I know a good turntable when I see one, it’s obviously not a 1210 but it’s fine for someone getting into vinyl for the first time. Instructions aren’t super clear, especially with counterweight, so recommend watching YouTube tutorial. Sound quality is good, and the vinyl doesn’t skip or skate.
Easy to set up. Instructions are good and had vinyl on within 15mins. Great sound quality
So what can we say about this!?? There is some “assembly”, or set-up, to undertake before use. It does help if you have a plan on where this will sit before you start. The Quick Start-Up is very useful here and I would strongly recommend following all 10 steps for a fault-free experience, as there are some fiddly bits to sort out, including fitting the drive belt, ensuring the counterbalance has been correctly set and the anti-skate mechanism is attached; patience is your friend here and you will be rewarded when you get it all right!!
The turntable itself is very good, the platter coming with a slipmat and straightforward controls. There is, however, no self return, but doesn’t spoil anything for me! If you find yourself somewhere else when the record comes to an end the turntable will automatically stop spinning; and there is an auto-power-off. It’s a case of select the speed button, press the play/pause, , ensure the lower/raise lever set to “raise”, gently move the stylus arm to the start of the record and set the lever to “lower”, set some volume!
Some basic vinyl maintenance is required to ensure best playback quality, if, like my collection, records are rather old (30+years) and has spent the last 25 years in your loft, don’t be surprised if there are some slight teething issues during playback, where the stylus collects an inordinate amount of fluff!!
The unit comes with a pair of two-way 18W (each) “bookshelf” speakers, which, let me say, I found impressive. These give an excellent balanced sound…doesn’t over power the bass frequencies (bearing in mind the record in the picture!!), or sound “scratchy”. If you crank up the loud dial this gives a rich room filling sound with out any distortion. The turntable has Bluetooth to connect to an external speaker or headphones, but I’m still enjoying the speakers! I’ll come back when I’ve tried this out!
Overall an excellent package for any budding vinyl collector to enjoy their collection and any young upstart wanting to try out, lets face it (having tried them all, CD, Tape, Stream!), the best music format ever!! Well worth the money!
I owned my own record player ages ago, but eventually got rid of it when I stopped collecting records. It was about 60 and pretty reliable – decent for the price – but it still skipped sometimes in records and the sound quality wasn’t anything spectacular. Fast forward to now and I wanted to invest in one that would last me a good few years – possibly the rest of my life. I didn’t want to go mega fancy. I wanted a good, beginner turntable for those who take record collecting just a bit seriously.
Well, this is perfect. Was unsure if 220 for the player and two speakers meant they would all be lowered in quality, but that’s not the case. This didn’t take me too long to set up (I also fumble with setting stuff up in general, and it took me just under an hour) and wow, it sounds amazing. The speakers have perfect sound quality – I genuinely love playing all my records again.
The player itself is easy to use and switch on – adjusting the volume is a piece of cake, too, as well as switching speeds. I found getting the anti-skating weight exact was tough; it’s by far the most fiddly part of the process. I’ve got it near enough perfect (the needle/stylus may still skate a tiny bit when I drop it down), but any error is on my part. And I always have the option to balance it fully later.
What really cemented this as a great record player for me, however, was the fact it played my 12″ copy of ‘Blue Monday’ from start-to-finish perfectly. Something I only achieved once; the first time I played it. Over two subsequent turntables since, it always jumped a lot and sounded awful. But on this, it was just amazing. Great bass pick-up, a solid volume range and just dynamic sound. I find playing records a treasure again. Was very anxious to see if it worked, but this early Christmas present to myself paid off tenfold.
Connecting via bluetooth to your device is also incredibly easy – obviously it uses the same speakers, so sounds just as good. Perfect for when I want to listen to a song or album between records that I don’t (yet) own on vinyl.
Genuinely recommend this – either to casual fans of the wax, or those who have spent a few years amassing a decent collection. I think it’ll please fan and veteran alike. It also looks stunning, and goes with near enough any kind of decor or aesthetic.
I had a issue with the cover and the customer service sorted everything and sent a new one within 5 days
This is my 3rd turntable purchase, I returned the others (price range 100) and it was worth paying the extra. I’m not an expert but the difference in the quality of the product and sound is apparent. It was well packaged and protected, the assembly wasn’t easy but not particularly hard either if you just follow the instructions. Just right for reviving my love of vinyl, I’m sure I’ll upgrade in the future but for now this is just perfect.
I was pleasantly surprised with this record player the price and sound are brilliant for the money I would say it’s one of the best on the market for price and sound don’t hesitate you can’t go wrong it was 186 a month ago it could’ve gone now but probably go back to a low price after xmas
Wowie wow not only is it beautiful but it sounds beautiful too. Honestly could not be happier with this. The only thing that was difficult with the setup was the counterweight they included (this is my third turntable and I’ve never had to deal with one before) but the rest of the setup was so easy helped along by the fact they included wires for the speakers. Get this turntable! So so good.
It’s really good system, instructions can be improved, also the way that automatically switch off is not the best.
This was a birthday present for my son, who is delighted. So am I!! Hearing exceptional tone and quality from some of his new LPs which are actually my favourites from decades past, is a joy. Unearthed my records from the loft, Adam Ant sounds even better than before!!! Seriously good sound, and quality for the price.
Bought as a present for my Wife, this turntable is very good value for money with a quality sound ! I’m sure there are better Sounds available out there but for most of us mere mortals this turntable is of a very high standard. A bit fiddly to set up and the pictures weren’t as clear as they could be but once sorted, really user friendly with many connection options.
Just unpacked and set it up 24 hours after buying it , great service. I am already in love with this machine and so glad I did not harp back to the past and buy an old classic. This turntable is beautiful to look at and reassuringly weighty with a lovely wood finish. Delighted.
Sounds and looks amazing. Be warned you have to put the whole thing together yourself. It is not a simple unbox, plug in and play record player. There is a video on here in the pictures on how to put it together, use it! The instructions are rubbish. If you’re happy to put it together then I’d 100% recommend.
Very pleased with this turntable. A little fiddly to setup the counter balance, but not too bad. Sound quality good for the price. Looks great on a retro sideboard!
This was exactly what I was looking for when I decided to re-visit my vinyl collection. A good looking and compact set-up with quality sound reproduction.
Very pleased with this purchase. Quality overall is brilliant and the sound is excellent.
Will definitely be recommending this
Great little vinyl player, sound is clean and powerful, the set up is easy. Speakers and amps are very nicely integrated , wooden finishes and minimalist design do the trick for me.
This is a great record player, great price for what you get. Easy to set up, easy to use! This is my first record player and I absolutely love it!
Amazing and beautiful product and a great quality of sound
Absolute bargain, looks stylish, sounds awesome, lots of power from such small speakers.
I’m delighted with look of my new record player however, I am struggling with the balancing of the stylus arm which is causing the music to distort occasionally … I have removed the weight on the nylon string at the end of the arm and records seem to sound much better and clearer … I’ve set to 1.75 as per the instructions … am I missing something ? … thanks … Liz x
Brought this for my husband. He is very pleased with it. The sound quality is outstanding and the look is superb
Great product. Looks stylish. Easy to set up. No issues to date, 4 months after purchase
So glad I made this purchase. Sound quality is good and pretty easy to use. Only thing I would add if I could would be the auto return.
Its a bit fiddly to set up the arm but worth the effort to be able to play all my old LPs agai
This was a very easy set up, alot of comments saying the weight was hard to install but i found it quite simple the instructions were easy to follow. Very clean and smooth sound quality perfect for just a middle of the road system if you dont want to spend a fortune
Good sound from the small speakers, turntable easy to assemble,l thought l was going to have a bit of a problem with the cartridge and the tonearm just follow the instructions and it works. I have shakey hands and l managed i
Gave this as a gift and my daughter loved it. Great wood and amazing sound. Easy to ensemble. Fast delivery.
Thank You!
Beautifully made turn table with a sleek “retro” look.
Sound quietly is great, it’s crisp and volume is excellent for the size of the speakers.
Sits perfectly on my side board and is a great addition to the room.
I was concerned about the set up, and wasn’t sure if I would be able to do it myself. However the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The parts are small and can be a tad fiddley, but after a couple of tries I was able to sort it no bother.
Would highly recommend for casual listening!
Completely satisfied with the overall good quality. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
Very good value for money. Good sound quality for price and excellent for a beginner or someone returning to vinyl (like me).
I have been a dj for 30 years, I own a set of technics 1210s for my work, I needed a small system for my office so I could listen to my vinyl collection without having to set up all my mixer and decks..and I have to say this turntable is great, great sound, very stable and looks the part, easy set up, no need for anti skating device, very pleased so far.
After trying a few ‘budget’ turntables and having endless issues withe the quality this is right up there with those that are more expensive. Not a single skip or jump, the sound is smooth, the turntable is solid, playing both new heavyweight vinyl and old.
Perfect gift for my husband he loves the product. Lovely finish too. Perfect sound and base to blast all his vinyl. The best gift I’ve ever bought him apparently
Great sound. A little difficult to set up and the arm does not return automatically. Overall very good.
Excellent sound quality, a bit fiddly to set up. Foam turntable mat not very good but when replaced with a rubber mat performed a lot better.
Sturdy (although directions were a bit unclear…thankfully I know about belt drives)
Beautiful looking piece of kit easy to setup although the counterweight did take a bit of time to get just right, it’s now perfect and produces great sound.
I’ve been collecting vinyl for about 14-15 years and I’ve owned this turntable for a couple of months now after my previous one suddenly died. I must say, it’s incredibly good value for money if you’re looking for a starter turntable or stop-gap until you purchase something more high-end (like myself). First off, out the box it does look & feel like premium turntable with a nice walnut veneer covering the turntable and speakers. It was reasonably quick and simple to set up, no need for an amp so you can plug the speakers directly into the turntable, however I did (as other reviewers have touched upon) find the anti skate mechanism a bit fiddly to set up but persevered and finally managed to get it positioned properly. I honestly wasn’t expecting much for the price but the sound on this thing isn’t bad at all, you can raise the volume to a reasonably loud level before hitting the speakers’ limits.
There are a few things about this turntable that I don’t particularly like though, for instance the fact that it stands on 3 legs rather than 4 although it still sits level and hasn’t given me any problems as such so far – i just don’t get why the manufacturer has opted to build it like this. The volume dial feels a bit loose and cheap. Finally, and quite annoying, the turntable powers down after about 2 minutes after the records finished spinning, I find this quite frustrating and from reading other reviews it seems i’m not the only one.
Overall, still very good for the price and i would certainly recommend this turntable for anybody thinking about or just getting into vinyl.
I haven’t had a turntable for a few years since I transferred my vinyl to my PC but I still have my records and it was sad to just have them in storage and never be able to play them. I chose this model based mostly on its looks. I like the simple near minimalist design. When it arrived it was very easy to assemble and set up, I don’t know why some of the other reviewers were having difficulty. The sound quality is excellent and you can easily connect it any modern sound system instead of the speakers that come with it, although I find the speakers perform very well. It’s actually better than some of the turntables I had when I was young.
had teething probs with a tiny part and had to get it replaced but works fine
Good bit of kit, the downside is setting up the tone arm weight, but other than that it looks good and sounds good as well. A good starting point for a newbie or a person returning to vinyl
Good quality sound, looks really nice and easy to set up.
Really good turntable. This is my second one and its well made, looks nice and with all speakers and features is a good value for money. Assembling and setting up isn’t too difficult, just needs attention while balancing a tonearm. Thing that made me knock off a star is built in auto switch off after 30 sec idle on signal. This is so annoying, when you have to come down and kick the play again. That’s the only complain, the rest is completely good value for money.
Having purchased a lower end turntable a year ago with built in speakers I wanted to upgrade to something a little closer to the excellent turntables of my youth – but not pay huge money for it. This unit delivers on sound quality in a big way – nice bass, not tinny, and you can crank it up quite a bit too! Built in bluetooth for use with my other devices through the excellent speakers was a huge plus. Totally satisfied and having a blast with it listening to all the new vinyl I’ve started buying again. Stop your hunt for a decent mid-level turntable – this one is fantastic!
First Vinyl player I’ve bought and in the main I’m very happy.
Easy enough to set up and plays the vinyl like a dream.
My one and only issue which is quite a big one is the Bluetooth aspect. I’m playing songs off Spotify (downloaded so not streaming) and it’s very patchy and it’s rare that a song will play without some playback issues.
The only problem I had was setting up the balance weight. The recommended method did not work well, so I bought a small stylus balance (about 9) and set the stylus load to the recommended 3.5 grams in a couple of minutes. I was planning to get a separate stereo amplifier for tone control, but in the event the sound quality even from the two small speakers supplied will keep me going for a while!
Great piece of kit. A bit tricky to figure out how the weight and anti skip feature are set. However, once you’ve mastered this you’re away. Excellent sound quality and well made. Supberb value for money, would recommend, no regrets.
***Update*** 20/3/2019
Had the turntable now for a month or so. In the end attached my old Cambridge Audio separate to it and sounds fine. There is only one issue which I think one of the other reviewers touched on. That is the auto switch off feature. Its not a stand by. This happens after a 5 mins when the turntable has not been used. You have to manual switch turntable back on. In the grand scheme of things its not major.
I have experienced the 30 sec stand by feature which is plain odd.
For these two things I have knocked a star off. Im the end for the price its still good.
So looking at a new turntable to replace the old 1 by One. I had no intention to buy another 1 by One, not because it was a poor choice. Just wanted one an upgrade as it was a cheap purchase option at the time. So looking for an upgrade with a magnetic cartridge, at a reasonable value. Checked out Lenco’s, Teac, AudioTechnic and others. Values range from 70 to 250. All had mixed reviews, a minefield. Then I found 1 by One now did a turntable with Audio Technic stylus / arm plus you got two speakers chucked in for 159.00. So I took a punt.
So whats the outcome:
It came well packaged. All aspects of the turntable well protected but this does mean you have to set up the Counter Weight, Anti-Skid function and belt for the drive.
The construction of the turntable all felt very nice not a cheap feel. Even the lid has some weight to it and a heavy metal platter.
The instructions are good perhaps not idiot proof. The one issue was the anti-skid weight which is very fiddly in the end it took two of use to tighten the knot up. Oh and you have to move the arm from its cup for it to work (Not idiot proof instructions).
So all set. Its not automatic drive, you press a play button. It also has a lovely slow descending stylus action onto the vinyl after the lever is released. At the moment I have it aux into a GPO speaker until a new unit arrives to place speakers on (The GPO has bass / treble controls). When I connect the speakers up the pre-amp built into the turntable will power them. There is no way to control treble or bass EQ etc. Having said all that the GPO is adequate with nice bass and treble but if you push the GPO it distorts. Which I already knew and has nothing to do with the turntable.
So the Sound you certainly can tell the difference with Audio Technic Stylus. Even through the GPO its a vast improvement from the previous 1 by One wooden plinth turntable in sound, build and quality.
So is it worth the price and any good? Well I got it for 159. Im no Audiophile but I like a good sound. I am also a musician. This a good turntable. Perhaps 1 by One has gone to all the manufacturers of named turntables given them a shopping list. In essence a parts turntable. If Lenco, Teac or Audiophile was stamped on the lid, this would have hi-fi reviews rated from 4 to 5 stars in its price band. Of course they would probably knock it down as it has a bluetooth function which is no no in Audiophile world.
Its good, for the price band excellent. Improvement? I suggest 1 by One do go and find a Hi-Fi amp manfacture and design a simple mini amp with bass / treble / balance surrounded by a wood casing. Sell it as a package.
For the buyer: remember you have to set it up. You may need an amp to push the sound when the speakers are connected (If possible cannot see why not it has phono output), as your currently relying on the pre-amp built into the turntable.
Plus points: it has a choice of aux or speaker output, industry standard magnetic stylus, bluetooth, transfer vinyl, well constructed, looks good. You can change from 33 to 44 without changing belt position.
After trying a version with intergrated speakers which was a little tinny I was looking forward to try this turntable out. It is small and looks smart and the sound is much richer than the turntable with intergrated speakers. It’s not bass heavy but it does not sound tinny. Would of been good if it had a dust cover as the deck does attract dust but it is easily cleaned. Ideal if you don’t want a great big stacking system, personally I have it in the bedroom where I now keep my records, you can also use this to transfer your vinyl onto computer, phone, iPod etc.
