It came with a wall mount for a more permanent fixture and also a standard tripod mount too
You need to establish a Connection to Bluetooth first, then a Wi-Fi connection can be established. It’s possible to see live video stream, saved photos & videos and change settings. Its a perfect camera for outdoor surveillance
I’d spent a long time researching which wildlife camera to buy, There were lots of positive and negative comments about all the vast array of cameras available on Amazon. I finally decided on this one, it had Wi-Fi and no-glow LED’s, two qualities that I wanted. There were a number of negative reviews on the connection to Wi-Fi that did concern me, but I went ahead.
I tried connecting to a really old Samsung phone without success, but my my more modern Samsung (still about 5 years old) connected without a problem. It really isn’t useful to view videos over Wi-Fi, far to slow to download, but the photos work great and you can change all the settings.
Picture quality is really good and during daylight they are excellent.
All in all I’m well impressed.
Put this in our nearby golf course wooded area and the images are fantastic the amount of rabbits I’ve seen up close is unreal!
I didn’t expect this to have such a good image quality. Well it obviously needs to be set on high settings for that, I do feel that it has great quality. When the settings are higher it takes up more space on the card and might end up without space to record more. So I would recommend a high capacity card to be used. With a 32GB card I got about 14 videos at 3 minutes each, one video getting to about the size of 800MB which is quite a lot.
I like that the camera kinda blends in with the forest if used on a tree, so it is not easy to spot. I use mine to observe wild birds activity in my garden so far.
The batteries last probably not too long if the camera records constantly, but if you use the low settings for the sensors than it might not record unless there is real movement. I would have liked it to have the option of power bank energy supply. Or maybe solar power so it wouldn’t be dependent on batteries.
The unit is heavy and sturdy, well made and the settings can be also adjusted in the app. The app really has all the settings that the camera has so everything can be adjusted from the app. So far satisfied and recommend for short term observation. I wouldn’t say it can be necessarily used as a security camera as it can’t be accessed from the app unless close to it. Can be used to see if there are regular things going on on a particular time or space but only after it happened can that be checked.
This is a really impressive wildlife camera. Having something that detects movement and captures high resolution imagery is really great. I’ve no issues with the night vision capabilities and such. The only issue for me is that it’s a little disappointing there isn’t a rechargeable battery built-in. It seems like that would be less wasteful. That aside, this is grea
So first thing you need to do is go through the settings:
Put in micro SD card and batteries
Switch the switch to “Test”
Choose 32 Mp images in the menu.
Choose 4k video
Set motion sensors to high
Remove time/date stamp
MOST IMPORTANTLY, set to either photo or video, NOT both. If set to both, the photos will be taken, but the animal will have moved away before the video has been taken.
Set the camera in your desired position
Switch the switch to “On”
You can see a fox caught on the camera with the photo. It is blurry, but you can clearly see the fox. I will set it to video instead – the blur will be less noticeable and the magic will be a little more exciting than pixel peeping a photo (not that you need to pixel peep to see the blur). My daytime photos are much better quality, but only have rabbits in them. When the light falls, the shutter speed gets longer and the photos get blurry.
When setting it up overnight, make sure nothing is too close in the foreground to reflect light – give it a good clear space to shoot into.
Night vision is less impressive than the daylight photos.
Anyway, would I recommend this? Yes, you can see the photo is blurry, but this is super easy to use. 8 rechargeable batteries easily last a night, and I have other cameras (not trail) that perform worse. As for where this sits in trail camera world, I’m less sure, but reports suggest this is better than most for the price – many trigger too late, I think you need to go much more expensive for a jump in quality, so I would very much recommend this to start out seeing what is in your garden.
I left the camera set up for over a week, it caught a few nice videos of deer – i’ve added my favourite one.
I’ve resituated it to see if I can gain any night vision videos, although it did trigger a few times it was only fleeting glimpses as the deer passed by. They spent more time round the pond during the day.
Set up was OK, it’s a little difficult to place as you need to open up the case to view what the camera can see and when it swings open (the camera is on the back side of the door) the focus of the camera moves too. It’s a little trial and error to get it placed right.
It also appears to default to camera – so if you’re wanting video, remember to change the setting.
Great picture on this wildlife spotting camera, very clear during sunny spells and really nice quality videos can be made with the footage. Night vision is clear but obviously the best footage is taken during the day imo. We had this outdoors during the last 2 days of snow showers and it still works which I was a little hesitant on but we will see if it’s able to withstand being outdoors over longer periods and will report back any issues.
Design wise it isn’t as compact as I would’ve liked but I think that’s the trade off for having something waterproof ‘as the camera needs more protection. The app does work well though and I find it a great feature for watching back any footage without hassle. I’d recommend.
I found this camera reasonably compact and easy to use. The case opens up to reveal a screen and buttons. This allows the user to preview the camera images and access the inbuilt menu to setup time and date, wifi connection details etc.
Using the trailcam link app on a phone, you first connect to the camera via Bluetooth which is low power consumption to save on battery life. This then activates the wifi on the camera to allow quicker file transfer to your phone. The thumbnails appear quickly and then you can select which to download in full and view from the app. The videos played fine on the trailcam app and on my laptop but in my phone gallery they wouldn’t play.
Image and video quality are extremely good in both day and night vision mode. The camera caught various wildlife including chickens, cats, and mice. The sensitivity seems just right, every image or video had something in it.
The device takes 8 x AA batteries, it could be improved by having an inbuilt rechargeable battery.
After fiddling around in the cold trying to remove SD cards out in the woods Wi-Fi connected wildlife cameras are now a must have for me.
What this one does, is that if i am in range of the camera then i can connect to it through the app and pull off all the recordings that it has taken off that, essentially if i had unlimited battery power, i would never have to open it once setup. It does have a DC port so i could charge through that, however i’ve been using rechargeable batteries due to it’s location but have been looking into a battery / solar charging add on as a possibility too.
It’s motion detector captures the moment anything walks into view so you don’t miss much at all, then depending on setup can record until it no longer sensors anything moving.
If an animal is running past it at night however, you will get a slight blurr which is to be expected, but most of the time you can still figure out what it is or the animal is actually moving slow enough to see it clearly anyway.
This item was well made – but the manual is/was poorly written. After downloading the official app to my android 11 phone-pairing did not happen. For this one reason I have dropped one star. This is a shame as the pictures were superb from this camera. Maybe the distributor should get a writer to rewrite in plain language. For those who wish to use this camera without the share feature – I would recommend this item.
For full working condition you will needed 8 AA batteries, I would recommend rechargeables and MicroSD card, I’m using 32gb and it’s been attached to the tree for last 3 night and it’s definitely waterproof.
Best part – WiFi built in, you can see in live what’s going on around camera without stepping out from home. Do not forget , to download TrailCam app.
And built in light doesn’t light up at nights, soo no one will see your camera at night.
The camera is well constructed with a good weather proof clipped seal, internal screen and menu options. The instructions are nice and clear but the menu options simple to click through and set up. You do get lots of options from photo and video quality, recording time, time setting so you can set it to capture within a specific time period, as well as time lapse which can also link the images for a time lapse video. I connected the app which requires you to be in Bluetooth range to activate the camera Wi-Fi and then set the Wi-Fi on your phone to the Wi-Fi signal and password. Once connected you can change all the same settings, watch delete and download images and video remotely without disturbing the camera.
I set the camera up to test, had it take a photo and then video (other options being photos only or video only) Set at max quality video and photo. The camera takes 8 AA batteries but should point out it does work with just 4 AA batteries (see photo) obviously they wont last as long as with 8. I had 8 running for a full day and night and still showing 2/3rds battery left.
Quality – I find the image and video quality clear, night and day on a small screen. I may not have helped the situation as the camera was set up within 30cm from the container of nuts, and so focus is better at a distance. Image size is big but pixels per inch and frame rate are low which is why its not super sharp when I zoom in or very smooth video. It did pick up a spider at night near the container, so I expect it will be triggered for moths etc.
On checking the data on my PC the video on all settings is 30 fps- I did originally think maybe the 1080p would be 60 fps, but not the case – all the video settings are 30 fps. Images even on the highest 32mp setting are 180dpi. Images and video are not going to be as good as a 300dpi image taken on a DSLR or 4k video running at 60fps that hasn’t been upscaled. On the small internal screen or your phone screen the quality wont be noticed its only when viewed on a monitor or tv and the quality appears lower. The camera does take pictures when triggered quickly BUT I found it cant freeze fast motion, so you do get some motion blur on faster moving animals in the photos. I also tested the photos from set distances 30cm, 50cm and 1m from the subject. Anything under 50cm is not focused well on the photos, which is why in the attached images, the background looks more in focus then the subject.
All this said the camera has good functionality, for the purpose its intended for, spotting any wildlife it works fine and the image quality is more than good enough to identify the subject. The added app control works well, although I found I did need to re-link to the camera if the app is closed. Overall a solid camera, just as long as you are aware the stated images and video sizes are likely upscaled or on lower dpi and fps rate so don’t look as good on bigger screens. Hope this has been helpful!
Update my memory card seems to have been faulty as I changed it and the choppiness on the PC has gone.
Very easy to set up and operate, the manual is easy to understand and in a sensible font size. Does not come with batteries (takes 8) or a memory card but has a mounting bracket and strap included. Gives good quality pictures (dependent on resolution selected) colour daytime and a good night (B&W) image.
Useful for all sorts of remote monitoring or wildlife watching/recording.
I did find the sensitivity to be quite high on the medium and high setting, triggering the camera with just the wind moving vegetation but once set to low I got more reliable results and less empty frames.
You have to be careful of sun position I found some video highlights were blown out due to bright sunlight reflecting off off animals. Video playback at very high resolutions was choppy on my PC.
If left out overnight, in some weather conditions, condensation can form on the lens and cause the pictures to be misty until this has dissipated.
Apart from that I had no issues with its reliability and build construction is very good, worth looking at if you require this sort of camera trap. I can’t wait to take it out into the countryside.
I’ve got a couple of these trap cameras and this one is by far my new favourite. The wife/Bluetooth connection makes all the difference, I can now connect to the camera from a distance without touching it, download any footage I want or change any settings without disturbing the camera or location. Footage is very good especially at night. Test images shown here from my garden visitors. This takes 8 aa batteries but they seem to last a reasonable amount of time compared to my other cameras. With several different setting for image quality selectable from the menus or phone it’s perfect for all kinds of animals. Love this camera.
I’ve wanted one of these for ages so, when I saw the price reduction, I ordered one. The set up is easy despite the surprising sophistication of settings. I’m still sorting out which is the best for different times of the day and which wildlife you’re after. These examples were taken at 23MP which allows zooming in on the images. You have to decide whether to take an instant picture or delay after triggering, whether to use the side sensors, whether to take video or stills, how long between takes etc. Experience will show you the way forward. Being able to change settings and look at images direct on your phone over wifi (range about 10-15m), whilst leaving the camera in place is really useful.
Good quality wildlife camera, which is great for seeing the foxes when they come out at night. Also spotted a badger that was well out of his comfort zone. It is easy enough to install, but it will need batteries, which are not included. Motion activated too, so you don’t have to worry about going outside to press play or anything like that. The camo paint also makes it great for placing in a hedge or tree. Night vision is also a nice touch, and was a lot sharper than I had anticipated.
A wildlife camera. It arrives with a wall mounting plate for permanent fixture, a set of straps to mount it to a tree, and data cable.
Consuderably larger than I expected it to be, about the size of a thick paperback, it is nevertheless very discrete in its camouflage livery. There are no external lights, either.
It is controlled by a dedicated app, which allows you to view through the camera and to take stills, start and stop it. There are other controls for levels of sensor sensitivity, etc. Otherwise it is prompted to start and stop when it detects movement. This is very efficient, and footage caught both by day and night is clear and sharp.
It does take a huge amount of batteries – 8 AAs – and these seem to be good for about 12 hours of running time, though of course the camera is not ‘running’ unless it sees something move.
So, while it’s very effective at wht it’s designed for – capturing wildlife footage – one could certainly use it for surveillance, security, or even creative applications.
It’s very well made and presented, and good value in it’s field: A great choice.
Well, I’m really impressed with this. My expectations weren’t high, but this is a fantastic trail camera. It can be increased to 4k imaging, albeit that it’s likely interpolated due to the small camera lens. To be fair though, 1080p is probably more than enough for most people.
This is easy to setup. To my surprise, there’s a screen inside for viewing images and video or for changing the settings.
This does require 8 X AA batteries, however these are fairly cheap if you buy Amazon basics ones (I order 100 at a time and they work out at something like 15 pence each). This states a standby time of up to 12 months, which is amazing if it’ll last that long.
Pop a micro SD card in and you’re good to go.
The Bluetooth and WiFi controlled app does a good job of connecting to the camera. It initiates via Bluetooth, then connects it directly via WiFi. You can view live video, change settings remotely or download recorded videos or photos. This means you can stick it up in a tree and view your images without needing to take it down.
I’m really impressed with this. The case does up tight with a water resistant seal and the night vision works well. I can definitely recommend it.
I’ve been using this Trail Cam for over a week now and really impressed by it.
I’ve been able to identify the cat that has been scratching my door mat and the motion sensor range is closer to 40m rather than 20m as advertised (detecting cars, rather than animals)
The trigger time is nice and quick, easily capturing moving objects. One thing to note is, I have the camera setup to take a photo first (32MP) then video — if the object is moving fairly quickly, by the time the video has started the object has sometimes already gone. However, the photo captures quickly.
Setup was nice and easy. The instruction manual is a translation, however, well done and it’s easy to follow. There is a hole on the case clip where you can fit a padlock, to prevent anyone from opening up the camera.
You get a wall mount for a more permanent fixture and also canvas straps to wrap around a tree. There is also a standard tripod mount too
Connection to Bluetooth is required first, then a Wi-Fi connection can be established. It’s possible to see live video stream, saved photos & videos and change settings, which is really handy when the camera is outdoors.
The photo quality in both daylight (colour) and night time (black & white) is really good. The camera has a 32MP camera and can record in 4k. The images have the date and time, moon phase and temperature, which seems really accurate.
If you are looking for a camera for surveillance, wildlife monitoring or security — I can highly recommend this Trail Cam to do a great job.
I bought this camera for use for a “different” idea at a wedding to capture guests as they walk by, but thought I’d test it before using it on the day.
It is bigger than I expected – a little bigger than a big can of beans and, with the 8 AA batteries inserted quite heavy.
It is, however, very well made and the case feels substantial enough to withstand any weather. I briefly tested the night vision and it’s surprisingly clear.
Normal photo/video quality is good – certainly good enough for capturing wildlife (or wedding guests!). Sensors are quite sensitive so I ended up using them on “low” sensitivity mode.
There are lots of options, continuos recording, picture and video together, video and picture size etc. and all are easily configured from the app available on IOS and android. This was pleasingly easy to use too and can be used to see through the camera as you are setting it up.
The manual is well written and understandable too.
I’ve tested it for maybe 5 hours so far and seems to have used about half of the power in Amazon basics AA batteries.
Overall, it’s better quality than I expected and ideal for short term wild life camera use. I would imagine having to change the batteries once a day, however, so I’ll probably use rechargeable in future.
