This headphone is excellent. I am very pleased with the quality and surprised that I can listen without any sound “leakage”. Makes this ideal for use without annoying others in crowded places.

These are the best earphones for running I have ever own load enough so you can hear your music while still being able to hear traffic and anything else you might want to hear. Highly recommend!!

Great sounding earphones, can take a little getting used too with the vibration if really loud but I do like them alot. Don’t move at all when I’m wearing them

Ideal if you find earbuds awkward or sore to wear or over-ear headphones too warm.

Great if you would like to wear headphones but still hear the surrounding as if you are not wearing anything.

Very comfortable, had the openmove which caused pain at the back of my ears – these dont have that problem, and the sound is an improvement from them (not by much).

However something I have noticed that I didn’t with those is that these seem a little loose. Not that they’ll fall off but it sounds like I’m listening through a pipe – the highs arw a tiny bit muffled. If I apply a (very light) couple of grams of pressure on either side the problem goes away. Slightly frustrating but I can’t think of a solution. This is only a problem with some songs however – with extreme deep bass. Because there is an alternative eq that seems to reduce the mid emphasis (I say mid but it’s 125-250hz), but while most basses are ok, very low basses (closer to that 20hz limit), thats where the bass goes away with this alternative eq – which makes me sad because I like my DEEP bass. Furthermore, it doesnt entirely eliminate the problem, some songs still sound incredibly tubey – lacking the treble. Then again these are not designed for that purpose. I’ve managed to sort of fix the problem with another custom equaliser in my phone’s settings. But again it impacts the bass which is sad.

I’ll be keeping them anyway. Great for running, none of the *thud*, *thud* you get with normal headphones or earphones when running. I find I can finally zone out while running.

Ive paired these with some loop reusable ear plugs in order to achieve better noise isolation than I’ve ever experienced before (and I’ve had many active noise cancelling earbuds and headphones including the Anker Soundcore Life P3s – which are great don’t get me wrong, best in-ear buds I’ve ever used, especially for the price; and the Sony WH1000-XM3 – which are also great).

I’ve used the second gen for a number of years, mainly for cycling. This generation has significant improvements in sound quality, comfort and telephone calls. I now use these daily for work, walking and cycling. The sound is not comparable to wired headphones or earbuds for immersive music listening but a decent allrounder.

My hearing is poor, even with normal hearing aids. For some time now I have been unable to follow TV programmes without subtitles.Music, which I have always loved, is now often quite annoying to me since I cannot hear it properly. I had heard about Aeropex. It is a revelation. I can now follow speech easily and enjoy music as before as long as the TV,radio, phone etc has a bluetooth connection. They are also very much cheaper than any hearing aids.

After several in-ear variations i decided to try theses as they are the only design that allow you to hear traffoc also, which in a rural location was key for me. Very light, excellent quality, fast to charge and super easy to team with my garmin and spotify. Only minor criticism is the fiddly volume control and does not like to “rewind” a song. Other than that this is an excellent product for running.

Really like these and have found them fairly comfortable when wearing for extended periods. Battery life is good and the sound is not too bad. The volume could be allowed to go higher though and if the band was adjustable for round the back of the head/neck, that would be great too. They re not really noise cancelling unless you use ear plugs with them. The quality of the sound is pretty good but as I ve said, ideally could do with a little more allowed volume. I like em, I like em a lot. Recommend!

Good product for what it was designed for. If you want depth of music don’t get these as it’s very tinny perfect for listen to background music while running and being able to hear everything else that’s going on around you

I have a 78% hearing loss at higher frequencys in my left ear and with these it just seem not to matter. So mutch better than in/over the ear headphones for me. And with earplugs in the bass response is great.
I don’t find them much good for cycling due to the noise of the wind. They do work if you put earplugs in too but that kind of defeats the object of the open ear design for safety on the road.
Ive not used the noise cancelling feature so can’t comment on that.
Just want some I could use in the swimming pool now.

I’m a window cleaner and these headphones are perfect.

You can hear what’s going on around you, have conversations with customers, all while hearing your music and the controls are easily accessible.

The sound is good, not fully immersive but that’s not what these are for, yes there are vibrations which sometimes tickles but it’s not distracting.

Battery lasts about 8 hours but charges quick.

Glad I tried these, well worth it.

I’ve had the Aftershocks for 4 months now and they’re fantastic. I use them to listen to podcasts, for work calls on zoom, and for hands free phone calls. They connect to my phone/laptop easily, the sound quality is great.

Downsides – they aren’t comfortable to lie down/sleep in (I use them for the Calm app), but having said they they are as comfortable as any others, I haven’t found great ones for night time. The volume control could be more sensitive, the jump is too loud/quiet and I use the volume control via my phone to get the correct volume.

These are slight downsides though, I would definitely recommend them.

The greatest problem I was having was finding earphones that would stay in place when active. This does so spectacularly well compared to the others I have tried and are very comfortable. I have not rated noise cancellation because they don’t even go in the ears and I haven’t used them when it would be useful. I did not buy these for noise cancellation. There are earplugs supplied but I suspect they would be no different to any you can buy in a chemist. Sound quality is good – I use them for spoken word not music.

Comfortable design and very light weight, barely know I have them on.sound is clean and distinct at normal levels, turn them up to max and sound gets a bit ragged .I never expected them to compete with HI-FI quality headphones and to do so would be unrealistic ,but for on the move earphones/Mic ear piece they work well

I wish I’d discovered these years ago.
Yes they are expensive, but worth saving for. I’ve never been able to wear buds or headphones as they give me inner earache. These are perfect. I can’t believe how good the sound is, I can wear them when working and still be aware with what’s going on. I can now listen to podcasts while walking the dog as I feel safe being able to hear everything else. You’d think being able to hear other things would put you off but it doesn’t. Charging is fast enough for me and the battery life is also good. Easy to pause and adjust volume without pulling out my phone. Very soft and comfortable to wear. No complaints. Highly recommended!

I bought these headphones in November 2019 and have used them pretty much every day since, either walking the dog or cycling. They are particularly good when cycling so that traffic can be heard, although on busy roads the traffic takes over!
My only gripe is that something has worked loose in the left hand unit which distorts the sound. I can hear something rattling around, but as the unit is sealed I fear it cannot be repaired.
I guess two years use isn’t bad, but am unwilling to fork over another 120 for a replacement at this time.

Absolutely love these, I use them for the commute and running. I got them because a marathon I am entering said they were the only make they would allow as some governing body authorises them.

Was sceptical as have had bone conducting earphones in the past that weren’t great. These are brilliant, loud enough to still hear over heavy traffic but allow awareness.

I listen to podcasts in the main or talk radio and the sound quality is superb given they aren’t in ear.

They are pricey but worth every penny, can’t recommend highly enough!

These are a great set of headphones for workouts of any kind or just using for work. I have problems with my hearing and because these sit in the outside they don’t cause me any problems.

What I would say is check they work with your device before buying. I have a garmin watch which they work fine with. But they won’t connect to me apple phone at all.

Just check if you are planning on using these with your phone that they will connect.

    Other than that there perfec

I read the reviews and took the plunge. I am so glad I did as these headphones are so good. Not only do I use them for running and cycling, leaving me free to hear surrounding traffic etc, but they are great when working as I can listen to music, but also be totally aware of my surroundings and not have that “cut off” from the office feeling that you can get with in ear headphones. I find the sound quality absolutely fine. It feels like being in a room listening to high quality speakers, but you can still hear your surroundings. I really don’t think you would be disappointed with these headphone.

Had fancied a pair of these for a while but took ages to take the plunge as wasn’t sure how the sound quality would be. In the event, I’m really impressed. It isn’t quite as good as my similarly priced in-ear buds but it is very good, lots of detail and even the bass is better than you’d think it would be. Bought for running and they are ideal for that purpose – comfortable, stay put and the big thing for me is that you can still hear the world around you. Would recommend to anyone who wants good quality sound whilst not blocking out the outside environment.

Very comfortable for running long distance. Not very loud though, and you can feel vibrations on your cheek bones at full volume thought I knew this before purchasing.
Sound quality is not great and there is no noise cancellation but that’s the reason I bought them. Very good build quality and super easy to use.

Ever wanted to run with music, but don’t because you’re concerned about the safety implications of running near traffic with impaired hearing? Then these are for you. A runner’s dream come true. In an age where the majority of the headphone market are all about noise cancelling technology, these are the opposite. Designed so you can still hear the world around you. I’ve also always had issues with any in-ear headphones staying on while I run – they always fall out, unless they have an over ear loop. These are sooooo light & comfortable it’s unbelievable. I could do burpees in these & they wouldn’t move. Seriously, seriously impressed. Grab them while they’re 30 off!

An overall excellent sports headphones, with the flaw of being bit overpriced.

    The Pros:
-product is light weight and compact, good mini alistic design
    -comfortable and sturdy in use
-clear and good sound quality, with earplug if you wishes to block out the noise from outside

    The Cons:
-Pricy, although sound quality is good it doesn’t quite meet the expectations of the price tag
-The voice over for operating the headphones is poor and robotic, sounds like some 20-30 wireless headset/headphones .
-and the quality for answer phone calls are bad, music for workout is fine though

Also, Amazon’s review includes a noise cancelling score, which is useless for the OPEN EAR headset. Those who wants these products are not looking for cancelling outside sound.

I use the headphones so much. My son bought a pair so I was able to try his on, a complete revelation. With home working and zoom going on I can’t have audiobooks/podcasts at a high enough level to hear above usual kitchen noise. The Aeropex are perfect for me, I’m not cut off from hearing the door etc. Infact if I’ve turned them off to have a conversation I forget I’ve still got them on! Just used for the first time on a long train journey, was able to keep an ear out for any announcements. Great battery life and weighs nothing in my bag. I did buy a rigid case to protect them as they are really important to me now! Just delighted with them.

These are the best. There are times I dont even KNOW i am wearing them apart from the low ambient music (I set it on low volume). Im so used to always having these on that my whole day has music playing just in the background!

I can have full conversations with people WHILE listening to music.

ALSO its great for picking up phone calls.

Ive bought 3 aftershokz over the past 3-4 years. I have other headsets for various reasons, but these are the ones I pick up for: dog walks, bike rides, gym, shopping, cooking….

HIGHLY recommend giving these a go.

On the flip side: not the best for sound quality – but not noticeable if youre using it for the purpose its meant (ie: getting on with things and being present while having music in the background). There is NO noise cancellation – thats the point, you got these to hear your surroundings.

I used to run with ear buds, but after a few near misses with cars passing me far too closely from behind on country lanes, I decided to leave them at home.
I do miss the beats though. So, I bought these aftershockz headphones to see if they were any good.
I’ve run with them for a couple of weeks and really like them. They’re really light and they fit well. I almost forget that I have them on, sometimes. The audio is much better than I thought it would be. As others have said, they lack base. Still, good enough for running. I also took a call with them today and they were crystal clear.
When there is a lot of traffic, their sound does get drowned out, but I don’t mind that as I want to be aware of my surroundings. I love that I can hear cars approaching now and can move to safety if required.
Now I get the best of both worlds, I can enjoy some upbeat tunes, remain more aware of my surroundings and feel much safer.

I was looking for headphones that don’t fall out when running. Stumbled across the AfterShokz range and due to good reviews went for them. The bone conducting is great, really pleased with them. If the volume is turned up the vibration can feel a bit odd next to your ear, but soon goes with sweating. As they are not in ear you can hear your surroundings better. Sound quality is good but not as good as in ear. They feel totally secure when on which was the main reason for buying. Very happy.

  37. RockyHyman says:

     United Kingdom 🇬🇧

Absolutely love these headphones! They are the best bone conducting headphones I’ve used. Really clear sound and good quality. It will never be as immersive as in ear headphones but they still have a rich sound and good bass.

Very comfortable to wear and lightweight! Sometimes I forget I have them in my head. They are well balanced and secure when running too and do not move about at all

Be mindful they do vibrate if you turn the volume up full but there isn’t really a need to have the volume full as the sound is clear at lower levels

Only niggle is that it’s not as quick or easy to switch between devices as you have to go through the pairing process with new Bluetooth gadgets

Overall though – these are excellent headphones, well worth the money and I highly recommend these for everybody, not just runners

Great product at a great price (paid 120 for them from there site special deal)I have now used them a number of times and don’t know why I did not get these before! They never fall out as not in your ear battery last a long time and sound although not as good as in ear head phones great for running on the open road as you can hear what’s going on around you all the time. I don’t need any fancy features I just want a headset that does the job and these are superb I run 3 times a week and I like the fact that when I put them on it tells me the battery situation and also so fast at pairing with my running watch or phone. So all in all a great product and suits me

I cannot begin to explain how brilliant these are. Prior to buying them the reviews said that the sound quality was not the greatest. In the past I have used Bose and maybe the sound quality of these is not as good as these BUT, I have around 75% ish hearing lost in my left ear. Also I have really quite small ears so cannot fit earbuds in my ears. These are life changingly good. Like I can listen to my music. I can take calls. It is brilliant. The only teeny tiny complaint would be they don’t look like headphones so they don’t have that effect of people leave you alone but they are wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone but especially if you have hearing loss (obviously consult your doctor and depends on why you have hearing loss).
Only thing I marked these down on is noise cancelling. They don’t do noise cancelling.

Had previously owned the TredzAir version, but upgraded when I needed to replace them.
The sound quality is great, although not an abundance of bass, but then these are small bone-conducting headphones.

Bought them to listen to music and podcasts whilst out on a run, hence the bone-conducting part.
They work perfectly for that, and better than the previous model I had.

It does use a magnetic USB charging cable. Whilst this is very easy to use, it is a shame that it does not use a standard micro USB cable. Now if I go away for a few days and want to use these quite a bit, I have to remember to take yet another cable with me.

Overall though, these are fantastic and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase them again.

Given their intended purpose of providing audio while maintaining awareness of surroundings they are great. Music sounds surprisingly good, and they are invaluable for directions when running new routes using something like komoot for planning. It can be hard to hear when alongside busy, noisy traffic but I think that’s pretty unavoidable with this technology and not a fault.

They drop one star because there is no feedback for when the assistant is activated and ready to accept voice commands. The assistant is useful if you have your phone zipped away while running.

If you accidentally press the button twice for the assistant it redials the last phone number which is NEVER what I want to happen! I wish this could be disabled and there was a beep when the assistant was waiting for commands.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy first review was accurate BUT THE HEADPHONES TOTALLY FAILED AFTER APPROX 4/5 WEEKS AND THE SELLERS AFTER SOME PUSHING SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE ASAP. WELL THIS IS N OT GREAT AS I HAVE NOW BEEN WITHOUT THE HEADPHONES FOR SOME TIME AND AM GETTING FED UP WHICH I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT COULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY RETURN POST/LOGISTICS FIRM.
HARD TO RECOMMEND IN ANY WAY EITHER THE PRODUCT OR THE SELLER. CONTACTING AMAZON NOT VERY HELPFUL AT ALL SEEMING TO AVOID RESPONSIBILTY AS THIRD PARTY SELLER, I LOVE THIS AS SOLD ON THE AMAZON WEBSITE !!!!

Good product to allow near headphone advantages and not shutting out the world . Much safer in the street than a closed system and good enough quality of sound.

Device look and feel great when worn, could easily leave these on all day without any discomfort. Used them a few times now for walking, running and cycling. No problems wearing these with my Oakley Flak 2.0 and cycle helmet (and face mask) who would’ve thought our ears would be so utilised for wearables in 2020/21.

Had a couple of issues with them where they stop playing my music either because the BT drops between phone and devices or it still shows connected but for some other reason the music has stopped/paused. Not a issue I’ve had with wired earphones previously on the same phone, will have to continue testing to see what could be causing this. Possible my phone is registering a touch on the screen to stop the music playback in my pocket, but I find this unlikely.

Only other annoyance I had was my phone (currently OnePlus 6T) reports the battery level on the connected BT device, it was showing 20% when I left work but I only got 20mins use out of them before the battery was flat. Managed to power them back on and phone was still reporting 20% battery but the device turned off immediately when I tried to use them for playback. I now know not to rely on the reported battery level via my phone screen which isn’t a major concern. More a nice to have if I can get an accurate battery level reading

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m not a techie or an full on audiophile — just a regular person who enjoys a variety of music styles and podcasts on the go. My motivation for getting these was primarily for use when out alone after dark both dog walking and running, which is not always safe when you have one of your sensory systems is disabled.

It is a new experience being able to hear both the music in my head and people talking to me or traffic passing by and it’s really quite impressive. The sound quality is good. For the same price, I’d want to be blown away by the quality of an in-ear or over-ear bit of kit, but that’s not what these are. The sound quality is not much better than old my 40 earbuds, but I couldn’t wear those in a shared workspace without cutting myself off from surrounding conversations, they didn’t allow me to do my own thing at home without disengaging from family life and they didn’t give me the freedom to confidently listen to anything when out on my own after dark. These are pretty nifty and what you’re getting for your money is both inclusion and freedom as well as sound quality.

In terms of Cons, these are not adjustable and, as a petite woman, I find they don’t always site 100% right. This can also be affected by my choice of clothes, headgear or hairstyles. But generally they are comfortable and they always sit correctly enough to work well. I wouldn’t recommend if you intend to use lots while lying flat (I do on occasion in bed, but they can push up at the back and be a little annoying. Again, this could be because I’m on the smaller side). I have not used the accompanying earplugs as noise cancelling is not what I’m currently after, but these will probably be necessary at the gym etc where there is loud background noise.

Back to Pros – another plus is the battery life — it lasts for hours. And when it does run low, the warning is given well in advance of shutdown so you don’t just suddenly lose it mid workout (I got the warning as I headed out the door recently and was still listening when I returned 45 minutes later. I haven’t pushed how much longer they would have lasted beyond that).

Noise leakage doesn’t seem to be a problem – I haven’t been blasting techo at full volume but have listened to podcasts and music in quiet spaces and in bed with my partner and been told it’s not noticeable to anyone in close range.

Overall, whilst these are not perfect for me — and are not cheap — they are a clever bit of kit and I would recommend or gift them to others.

This is my first encounter with bone conducting technology, I had over exaggerated expectations that turned out to be false, yet I’m still pleased with some aspect of it. Just to point out that I don’t have issues with ear canal or membrane, I bought them purely to try out new tech. So..
    Positives:
    – Light and comfy, none of negative reviews regarding issues with pressing on cheekbones or awkward design are true. They are extremely light, easy to put on and comfortable to listen to music for long time(I used them while working for several hours)
-Quick to charge and battery last for long. I haven’t charged it for 3 days although I’ve used it a lot.
-Last but not last – loved packaging, design and all accessories coming with it.
    Negatives:
-Music can be heard by people around when it’s around maximum
-Expected to hear well everything around me while music is playing(good use for cycling), however when music is turned on more than 50%, I can’t hear anything
-Sound quality could be better than expected

Surprisingly little sacrificed in terms of audio quality, podcasts, speaking etc is excellent. Listening to music is not quite as good as with most other decently priced headphones but it’s still serviceable.

Safety is the biggest reason why you might opt for these, as they don’t go in your ears. I use these on my runs and I can hear most traffic and I don’t feel disconnected from whatever’s going on around me. Even for those who don’t go running, headphones like these might be an option just for walking around town, you can hear what’s going on around you and still be able to hear what’s being played through your headphones.

On the negative side the higher volumes are pretty unusable as they cause too much tickling in front of the ear and the volume up/down sound and other settings sounds are far too piercing and are no quieter when volume is turned down.

I have really enjoyed them from the day I received them. I wear glasses and hearing aids so a lot going on around the ears. Because they don’t go into the ears but just go around to the front of the ear it works out fine. If you frequently take off and on your glasses can be fiddly. I use these to listen to pod casts, radio and news while walking the dog and can still listen to sounds around but obviously if you have them to loud you want hear ambient sound so clearly. If on 3/4 volume the will vibrate and becomes slightly uncomfortable. Very easy to connect to anything with Bluetooth and can connect to two devices. I sometimes forget I have them on. Take out the extra insurance if offered, our dog chewed them only had them for 4 weeks a lot of money to be damaged or lost/stolen.

This is my second pair. I had the original product for many years and they just broke. Although I like these new ones I do have a number of issues:
    1. When used for cycling or running, wind noise does reduce the effectiveness. Same issue in a gym with background music
    2. A pair of ear plugs is provided to overcome the above problem but I find it more effective to just slide the earpieces over my ears. It would have been nice if the ear plus were somehow integrated into the headset with the ability to swing them away when not needed
    3. Charging – understand why they’ve not gone for a micro USB but it’s just another cable to lose/forget. It’s about time the electronics industry standardised on these.
    4. Packaging – weighs more than the product and goes straight in the bin – so much for green credentials

I tried a friend’s bone-conduction phones 4 or 5 years ago and they were pretty useless for cycling, being readily drowned out by even light traffic, but these have really made the grade.
Not cheap, but they’re nicely designed to be dead simple to use, and the maximum volume is pretty good while allowing full awareness of everything in the real world around you. A lot of my cycling is on country and suburban roads, and I listen to podcasts while exercising: so far I’ve found the volume and clarity to be fine, although I only rarely cycle in town and usually don’t listen while I do, so I can’t comment on that aspect.
Straight away I found the best way to fit them around my helmet straps, and the headset fits OK under my balaclava which is often needed at this time of year. I’ve got quite a large head (7 3/4 hat size) and they fit fine.

After years of trying in ear pods for running I splashed out on these. 150 is a lot of money but in my case I do think it was worth it for two main reasons. First is that whichever size adapter I used on my in ear pods, inevitably at some stage on my run, they would fall out. As AfterShokz sit in front of the ear, this isn’t a worry.
The second reason I love these is because I suffer with tinnitus. In ear pods always made this much worse and I ended up only ever wearing the left pod as the tinnitus is worse in my right ear. After a run with in ear pods my tinnitus could be awful. As Aftershokz don’t sit in the ear, they don’t affect my tinnitus at all.
I’m not really a music ‘fan’ so I can’t comment of the music quality, just to say I have no complaints and can hear the music loud and clear when running. What I will say though is that the sound does still ‘mask’ background noise so I can’t hear if another runner is approaching me from behind.
Easy and great to use. If you are looking for a good set of bluetooth running headphones and can swallow the price, these are very good.

I never right reviews! And this ones for the guys struggling with wireless buds!

For the last year I have had issues with apples AirPod pros and have read multiple accounts with people having the same “itchy” issue. Which meant limited use. It has been soul destroying not enjoying my daily work out. And after search for an alternative I found AFTERSHOKZ

I got these yesterday and I was worried about the sound quality, volume, base mostly… and I am surprisingly shocked, I have to keep these at 50% volume because I can’t hear my colleagues talking to me two feet away.. and they headphones are not even near my ears.
The base is so much better than what I was expecting so for the value … compared to others like apples.. I couldn’t be happier.
Sound quality is great but the best part was adjusting so quickly, obviously these products vibrate, it took me an hour or two to not notice them anymore (they’re tiny btw, picture above! I have small hands lmao! And they still have space wen wearing them)
You guys should really have charged more for this product. #TheFutureOfHeadphones

    Buy it lol 😂

These a fantastic for workouts, running, cycling etc. They are super easy to put on, charge etc. The design means no worries about falling off or wires getting caught. I thought there might be less wind noise when cycling than normal in-ear buds but this is not the case. If anything it’s slightly more. However, I feel much safer being able to hear the road and surrounding noises more clearly with nothing in my ear.

Once familiar with them, the buttons are easy to operate when wearing but can be a little fiddly with full finger cycling gloves on.

The sound quality is fine. I wouldn’t expect them to be as good as a decent set of normal headphones, and they’re not. However, it is perfectly adequate and I’m certainly not complaining here.

The charge seems to last a good while- I can do a good number of runs or rides before thinking about needing to charge them again.

Overall easily the best headphones I’ve had for exercising with.

    Love them! Ideal workout headphones

I’m in my mid- to late-70s and use headphones both out walking and around the house to listen to audiobooks—though occasionally music and news-feeds.
Previously I used largish, cushioned headphones indoors (easier to take on and off) and smaller, less bulky in-the-ear Jaybirds outdoors … and of course I always had to connect or disconnect one or the other on my iPhone.
All that is in the past … these are by far, by light-years, the best headphones I have ever had … I no longer have to swap when I come in or go out AND I can hear my wife when she comes into the kitchen to ask what I’m cooking.
Occasionally, when traffic is particularly close, it interferes but, as I always hear it approaching, all I do is cup the ear at that side for a few seconds and I hear every word of my book. I could use the earplugs supplies but have not had to yet.
Best thing I ever did was to buy these AfterShokz Aeroplex headphones … and there’s the obvious bonus in that the younger generation (anyone below 70) think I’m really trendy, in most cases trendier than they are. They’re right, of course.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was skeptical regarding these headphones, I had done some research online about bone conduction and opinions varied regarding music quality etc.
I decided to push the boat out and go for the aeropex and I’m certainly glad I did. I find the sound quality excellent, for total base heads these would not cut the mustard but for people who like their tunes and not have the outside world totally blocked out they are great. They are also comfortable to wear and don’t bounce around when running, they stay in place exactly where they should. For phone calls they aren’t great in noisy environments, if there is a lot of road noise then being able to hear what is being said if a touch tricky and the person on the other end struggles to hear with lots of ambient noise but they work. The only downside is noise bleed, people around you can hear your music, not in a boom box way, but it is definitely audible at higher volumes.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBeen wearing these almost non-stop for two weeks to make sure I really wanted them since they are not cheap.

    Pros:
1- I can do chores around the house but still be able to hear my kid if he needs me or easily stop to talk without taking them off.
    2- they are light
3- the sound is great! (For bone conduction) Im not interested in hearing every minute detail of a song, just need music and books to get me through these Covid days. I imagine they’d be great for office use.
    4- no ear fatigue
    5- Bluetooth connection is excellent
6- excellent for cycling- fits with helmet and glasses

    Cons-
1- slight pressure behind my right ear (easily fixed by placing headphone on top of my ponytail
2- if walking outside and traffic is super loud or wind is super loud- audio seems to fade and you have to turn volume up (however I didn’t find this to be the case when cycling)

Excellent for everyday use, cycling and workouts

I decided to go for bone conducting phones as I run a lot and ear bud types are not accepted in most official UK races due to safety concerns. The sound quality of Aeropex is balanced and they are comfortable on a long run. Noise cancellation is irrelevant for these phones when listening as the whole point is to allow you to be aware of your surroundings, however, when ambient noise is low they perform like other phones but without having something stuck in your ears. When used for phone calls the microphones are noise cancelling. Bass is a bit light but I think if it was heavier it could get very tiresome hence my comment about balanced sound. My main criteria for purchase was a good fit so they didn’t need constant adjustment when working out, wireless connection which works well, and as mentioned previously they are accepted for use in official events. I didn’t know what to expect when buying them but I was pleasantly surprised and they certainly do the job that I wanted them to do. They are a bit pricey but they are well made and come with a silicone case with a magnetic catch, a waterproof running belt (which was unexpected but a nice touch) and some ear plugs that can be used to block out sound entering the ear via the eardrums so the effect is more like that from earbuds. There are also two charging cables so you also have a spare. These are magnetic and click into place when the polarity is correct. The other end terminates in a USB connector.

These started by giving me what i can only describe as a migraine… However i have used them a few times now and it would seem that my brain has adjusted. This was tested when i took them on an hour bike ride over 15 miles on Sunday. The sound quality for music is good, and i can fully hear everything going in a round me, important when on the road.

The sound quality for phone calls started very “tinny”, but has improved and have had a god few conversations when walking the dog.

I would recommend them, i needed something that was waterproof as my iPod Pros are not. They are comfy fitting, the battery is good, hooked up easy with the iPhone X Max, only thing is “Hey Siri” doesnt seem to work on them. Have only given one star on noise cancellation as if they cancelled the noise it would be daft as these are designed to hear other things at the same time.

These are witchcraft as i you can listen to music crystal clear AND hear the tv crystal clear at the exact same time.

I use it for when I’m cycling on road. They fit around the front of the ear allowing for any noise to come through. I wear glasses and wear these and I don’t personally have a issue with these. I’ve used them in winter with a hat under my helmet while the heavy pours and I can personal confirm for myself I have had no issues with that.

Does what it needs to take phone calls and listen to something while I’m out and about but at the same time allowing me to listen to what’s happening around me.

Works with Siri as well. The only thing yo get used to is using the volume control if your phone isn’t in front of you. And pressing the button to activate Siri or whatever you use as a personal assistant on your phone.

Do not accept these to noise cancelling which they don’t. They will bleed whatever your listening to out if it’s loud. You get to hear what’s happening around you while your cycling without getting bored if your commuting to work or just out and about.

As a runner, trying to find a suitable set of earphones that won’t fall out when running has always been a task of struggle and futility. I did find a 80% stable pair of bluetooth earphones from Anker, but they’ve been discontinued. I liked those earphones.

Looking ahead to a future marathon, I read that only bone conduction headphones (specifically AfterShokz) would be allowed. I previously watched lots of reviews, due largely to my reluctance to spend so much money on “earphones”. The reviews leaned me more towards the expensive end of the range rather than the more budget-friendly end.

So, I saved up, waiting for a sale, and bought these Aeropex.

I wasn’t expecting brilliant sound, and I didn’t think the way they sit so far from your head would make them stable. I also didn’t think the claimed 8 hours of battery life would be likely.

I was surprised on all three counts. The sound is easily as good as, if not better, than the earphones I’d previously been using. They sit perfectly still on my head – no bouncing around. And the battery life is crazy. I logged my runs since first charging the Aeropex. The first time they lasted about a fortnight, during which time I’d run for about 13 hours. The second time they didn’t seem to last quite as long, a little under 12 hours, but still well over the claimed 8 hours.

Needless to say, I’m pleased I bought these and wish I hadn’t hesitated to get them. For me, they really are the best running earphones/headphones I’ve ever used.

Sound quality not great compared to other ‘normal’ earphones but this is, apparently, as good as it gets for bone conduction headphones. Main problem for me is a tinny sound/lack of bass. This is despite experimenting with their position as much as is practical. Given it’s supposed to be an improved model I can only imagine what it was like in earlier models. Even 25 non-ear canal devices sound a lot better to me, and I’m not a ‘bass junkie’.

Having said all that, they really ARE good for jogging etc. as, as AfterShokz promote, they don’t fall off or out and you can hear what’s around you, even if they are somewhat drowned out by passing traffic. “Better safe than sorry” as they say, and I have some near misses with noise cancelling alternatives. I think my brain normalises the poor sound pretty quickly, actually, and by the middle of a run I’m thinking they do sound better than nothing – “ok’ish” given their benefits.

Perhaps the earplugs supplied would be better being “leaky” to allow most but not all external noise in?

So… a keeper for me on balance. Just.

I purchased this headset as a replacement for my old Trekz Titanium. I loved that headset and my colleagues very quickly got used to the fact they could talk to me still while I was listening to my own music.
I had to replace it due to wear and tear, as it used to get chucked into my rucksack without any case to protect it.
Straight out the box these new Aeropex have a fantastic silicone rubber case, which although not rugged, is enough to make you think twice about how you put the headset away.
Sound quality is better than the Trekz Titanium, a little more bass, or warmth to the sound; that is not to say these are any comparison to standard headphones for tracks with heavy bass sound, but these aren’t designed with the audiophile in mind.
Personally I have found these are great for listening to quiet Classical music while I’m working, and I’m still able to hold conversations with colleagues; and also take business calls without having to pick up the phone, being able to use the computer whilst talking is a massive bonus.
Outside of work, these are very comfortable whilst running, and you can still hear everything going on around you.
I have found you get used to listening to music through these after only a short time; and you can crank up the volume plenty, unlike the old Trekz Titanium, you don’t get as much vibration from higher volume.

Like the old headset, you can use the multifunction button to voice dial for phone calls, and with an Android device you can use voice commands to select music in Spotify, I’d imagine other such commands work as well, but I’ve only used for Spotify so far.

To summarise, these are fantastic for listening to music whilst working in an office, round the house or when you’re out and about; but you are still aware of your surroundings and able to hold conversations with people.
You also have seamless transition from listening to music to making Phone calls.

I don’t normally bother writing reviews but these headphones were so impressive I felt I had to! I have been jogging (in the city) for many years. I have never used headphones or buds, etc. because I felt uncomfortable not being able to hear people, cars and other city life around me. But these don’t go on or in your ear – I can hear that ambient noise and my music! The sound is excellent. They are very light. And my two kids were very impressed with how it works/looks. For me they are a game changer. I can now exercise whilst listening to podcasts or music if I want. However, i still love my Sony noise cancelling headphones for shutting out all noise in some scenarios (eg. train or plane). If you jog/exercise and want to listen to music I would really recommend them. Oh, forgot to mention the free bumbag that comes with it. It is well made and a good alternative to putting your phone and keys on an arm band.

Good: First of all I’d say comfort, they really fit well on my rather big head 🙂 also flawless contact when jogging. Great office headphones. Multipoint connection is brilliant I can listen to podcast from phone and use for PC tele-conferencing without reconnecting. Bluetooth headset phone operation for phone is flawless, great microphone noise cancellation too, useful battery check, ability to mute during call is great too, overall pretty good control functions. I am fine with sound quality which is better then I expected for open ear, the reported vibration in high volume is reproducible but not a problem I dont listen so loud anyway, with earplugs you get more conventional experience but the open-ear is the whole point of this headset, so you can interact with environment. Battery seems excellent get me through 12h of fairly frequent use at low volume.

Minor gripes: in multipoint loosing one of connections (walking away from computer brings in annoying alarm need power off/on to ignore), the beeps on key presses are too loud when wearing with earplugs

I bought these headphones to use at the gym as I seem unable to find any that will stay in place and not fall out of my ears when working out. These stay in place, I think the sound is good but if you’re looking for for a brilliant audio experience, these aren’t for you as they do exactly what they’re made for; allow you to hear music/audio whilst being totally aware of the sounds in your surroundings. They don’t move when leaning down whilst I’m doing yoga but I do find that when I’m on my back, the neckband means that they move forward a little but I can still hear what I need to. I haven’t had them very long so I cannot comment on battery life yet. All in all great sports headphones but for the price, I would have thought the manufacturer would have included a hard case as the soft one will not prevent damage to the rather expensive headphones and they seem to be squashed into it. I have now purchased a hard case from a different manufacturer as I want to ensure my headphones last as long as possible without damage.

I put the Aeropex on at a stand in a local shop and was blown away! I tried to order via the local shop but they couldnt get them in time for my christmas travel plans. I ordered them form Amazon and they came in 2 days!
Firstly they packaging really has that wow factor so if its a gift for someone they are going to love just opening them! The Aeropex themselves are fantastic, like nothing ive ever seen or heard before. I have always had problems with getting traditional earphones staying in my ears, especially when doing something active. ive tried them all even the ones that hang on your ear but they still pop out. not an issue with the Aeropex, they are sooo light and stay in place no matter what, some of my colleagues tried to head bag them off but were unsuccessful! I wore them all day and the battery was excellent. The sound quality too was fantastic. as they dont go into the ear canal i gave them to alot of my intrigued colleagues to try and they were blown away! Aftershokz, expect lots of orders from where i live and work lol
    Im delighted with them!

These headphones are superb. I gave them 5 stars for sound quality as well, because I knew what I bought. You cannot compare them to normal headphones and if you do, you should be looking at something else or you might need something else for a different use-case. For sound quality most mid priced or cheap in ear headphones would sound better, but for bone conduction headphones, they do sound much better than I expected.

They are really lite, they are loud enough to listen to my audio books to some loud areas, they have really good microphones and I have successfully used them for phone calls & meetings as well.

These headphones changed my life. I have quadrupled the number of Audiobooks that I listened to since I have bought them. You can actually forget them on your head. It’s like getting an implant. Press a button to talk to someone without reaching your phone, listen to audiobooks, podcasts and occasionally music.

Oh, and I forgot. I used them successfully while doing sports(really good grip, never felt they would come off), while taking a shower, etc.

Excellent for what they were intended.

I have been a fan of Bone Conduction products since the very first generation of headphones. That being said for all newcomers to the experience here are a few things you should know before you decide to buy a pair.

    The good:
    1) They are super light and low profile when being worn. This makes them comfy for extended use.
    2) The battery lasts quite awhile.
    3) They are quite resistant to most forms of weather, ie rain, fog, heat, and cold.
    4) Bluetooth 5.0 makes them retain a signal quite well even if you are 5-10 meters form the audio source.
    5) They fit quite well on a variety of heads.
    6) The controls are good.
    7) Mic is clear and concise.
    8) Low sound bleed.

    The bad:
    1) A little pricey.
    2) Sound interference. (will elaborate below)
    3) Vibrations can be a bit uncomfortable at higher volumes. You will get used to it after awhile.
    4) Sound quality.

Sound quality. These headphones will never match up to IEMs. They will also lose out to some other headphones at this price point. The sound you hear can be with minimal bass as the interpretation of bass is a strong vibration which can feel quite uncomfortable the first time you experience it. That being said you are not getting these for the sound quality alone. The whole point is to be able to hear outside sources of sound while you are exercising or commuting through your day. For that they are excellent in what they provide. They beat out the Apple AirPods in this regard. Where you can have an imperfect fit with the AirPods the Aeropex fits like a glove and is way harder to lose. The sound quality it does have is also in my opinion better than the AirPods. AfterShokz also provide a pair of foam earbuds which was a nice touch if you ever want to block your ears.

The primary use case for these is for commute. I cycle 30 mins to/from works. Mostly quiet roads and a trail by a river. So that’s about 4hrs a week. I also struggle to find time to listen to my podcast subscriptions. Hence the purchase. These are great for this whilst staying aware of traffic.
You’ve probably read mixed reviews about audio quality for music. If you are into blues and folk then they sound great e.g Eric Bibb really enjoyable to listen to. If you are into rock/pop/dance then they sound poor imho. Bass and treble are not its strong point but middle range is awesome. Others have mentioned the ear tickle you get at max volume, yeh its a thing. What may concern for some is that these earphone’s max volume is drowned by heavy traffic e.g you won’t here much on a dual carriageway or when cycling faster than 25mph (wind noise). Also you probably won’t be heard on a call if cycling more than 10mph (microphone wind noise). Some of the above may seem negative, but for me these are near perfect. Solid bluetooth, good battery. I’ve got a big head btw and they fit fine.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been looking for the perfect “sports” headphones for years and I think I’ve found them! I don’t get on with in ear bud type, there is always a risk they will fall out after a while when you get “sweaty” I’m not a runner as I have replacement knees but I hike a lot and have just started cycling, the last time I went out with in ear buds which were not meant to cancel out all of the noise, I could not hear traffic and felt unsafe. I cycled 35 miles yesterday with these Aeropex on and I can only say…absolutely fantastic! The only time I couldn’t hear music was going down hill at 35 mph with wind noise but that is only for 30 sec or so! I’m looking forward to my speed walk at the next Park Run where it’s always useful to hear the faster runners coming. In October I will be hiking with my family so will be able to listen to music and chat! I do like the fact that these headphones are waterproof as I’m often out in the rain. Yes they are expensive, but money well spent 🙂 Just waiting for the blue ones to be in stock so I can get a pair for my wife.

Riding a mountain or gravel bike in the countryside is always a pleasure, but when I wanted to have a training ride always felt that I had to sacrifice something if I was to train hard yet still be aware of things going on around me. Earplugs would isolate me from my surroundings so that the only thing I’d be aware of was my heartrate and the music.
Wearing the Aftershokz I can now hear the birds sing in the trees, or a river running down the side of the track. Importantly I can hear how the bike is moving beneath me, and best of all I can say hi to anyone else I meet in the countryside without them realising that I’m listening to my music.
The sound quality is good and I have never felt the need to have the volume high in order to be able to focus on the music. The headphones just sit there without the need to adjust them. For me they’ve been a great investment that will keep me motivated when perhaps I wouldn’t have wanted train quite as much.

My first foray into bone conducting headphones, and i’m quite pleased.
The sound has come a long way since I tried out a friends set of aftershocks several years ago. That could be down to advances in Bluetooth, but it could just as easily be down to updates the the BC technology.
They will never be bass rich, but realistically I don’t want booming bass when i’m wearing these (usually on my bike), it would totally defeat the object of them by making outside noises difficult to hear.
On the whole they are quite comfortable. I’ve only experienced some mild discomfort once, Sympathy for the devil by the stones came on shuffle and the right hand side felt like it was tapping the side of my head. It’s repeatable so is likely down to the specific beat and frequencies of that track.
The one thing I have been disappointed with is the mic, I’ve made a couple of test calls to my voicemail and I’m hardly audible at all.
So, if you want these for listening to stuff without impacting your awareness of what’s going on around you, then they are just the ticket, if you want to make regular calls with them, then i’d be prepared to switch to our handset.

The headphones are a minor technological miracle. You’ll swear that you are hearing with your ears, but you are just fooling yourself. Now sound quality is good, but don’t expect the perfection of some expensive over-ear headphones, it just can’t work like that, but then these are for when you are running (or playing with your Bicycle if that’s what you are into), so the noise of the world will always outweigh and lack of perfection in the reproduction anyway.
The fit and comfort level is by far the best of any sports headphones I have ever had, they are extremely light and stay securely on you head regardless of what you are doing (Unless you are Sky Driving perhaps?).
Sources with a lot of bass, including spoken word audio books can sometimes “tickle” your face where the conductors are, but it is very slight and you just learn to ignore it.
In summary, these may be a little pricey, but they are well worth the cash if you are a runner of any kind or do one of those other sports that I’ve heard of like caber tossing, three-legged race, egg and spoon racing or sack racing. Maybe even cycling?

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersI’m a long term aftershokz user. I’ve had the wired versions, to the titanium, air and now aeropex. Honestly I was happy with the upgrades from titanium to air. I felt like they added some valuable alternative features that allowed for great sound quality, long battery life, at a comfortable lightweight size. I figured that was it. No updates right? I was shocked to here they had now created the Aeropex with smaller footprint competitive battery life and improved sound. I’ve had various other Bone conduction headsets, and bone conduction sunglasses. I guarantee you, there is no better than this. I’m still trying to figure out how they managed to decrease the size, but improve the bass and overall volume and sound quality. the only unfortunate trade off this time is the switch from micro-USB for charging to a new proprietary cable type. I think this was likely a concession made so that they could fit more inside the small space, instead of giving up space to a micro usb connector. Honestly, it’s worth it. I’ll just have to stock up on cables just in case.

I highly recommended this. I cant recommend it higher. Maybe you just want to listen to music at work but still hear your surrondings. Maybe you have kids and you want to listen to podcasts while you pay attention to them. Maybe you’re into sports and you want a lightweight solution that also lets you stay safe and hear your surroundings. It fits all of those. I use these more than my various headphones because I often forget the aftershokz are still on. Walk through life with your own personal soundtrack. It’s a weird sensation to hear the world and music at the same time, but it’s a worthwhile experience. My only hopes now are that aftershokz will master the bone conduction sunglass headset game.

Golden Review Award: 154 From Our UsersAfter hearing a friends AfterShokz Air, I was impressed and decided that I needed to get these to try for myself.

I am not their main target customer. I use these in the office primarily with the intended occasional bike ride at the weekends (still yet to try this). I wanted to be able to listen to music but still hear the conversations going on around me in case I need to join in, or simply if someone wants to ask me a question and they can just say my name without doing a wavy dance to try and get my attention. For this they work exactly as intended.

I also take several calls throughout the day and the quality is excellent. I can hear people loud and clear and I have been told that I come across very clear with the quality on par with most headsets. Watching films seems to have audio in sync and sounds great.

I also have these connected to my laptop at the same time and can seamlessly switch between my phone and laptop.

Battery wise I am still amazed. I have not timed it yet myself, but I have no issues getting through a full day of music listening and calls with the odd pauses throughout the day.

Comfort is really really good and most of the time I forget that I am actually wearing them. I do have the music at a normal volume (not so loud that I cant hear my surroundings) so the vibrations into my jaw are not too harsh which I think also helps with reducing fatigue. But I pretty much have this on my head for a solid 10 hours to put it into perspective.

Sound quality is going to be very subjective. They are not your normal headphones and therefore will not be as good BUT they are far from average. Yes the bass response is not as good but Im not listening to loud heavy dance tracks and for the most part I forget that the bass is lacking. Music still sounds nicely rounded and pleasant to listen to.

If I was to find fault it would be with the vibrations on louder volumes. It cant really be helped, but the vibrations are a weird sensation and fatigue does set in much quicker. There is also a confirmation beep for things like volume up which is unnecessarily loud and makes me want to use my phone volume instead of the headset buttons.

Other than that I couldn’t recommend enough if the use case fits you.

    —update—-
Tried these on a ride and work exactly as you would expect. The helmet straps aren’t an issue and the rear band sits low enough to not interfere with the rear helmet strap (at least on my normal helmet)

Still very happy and they have been glued to my head all day everyday at the moment.
