Ideal if you find earbuds awkward or sore to wear or over-ear headphones too warm.
Great if you would like to wear headphones but still hear the surrounding as if you are not wearing anything.
Love the fact you can hear surrounding noise while running which makes it 100% safer.
These are fantastic for any kind of exercise, they have a good battery life, are waterproof and light weight. I bought them for cycling, walking and running.
Fantastic to use when cycling, I can easily hear my music but also traffic and people.
Good sound quality, easy to connect to phone, comfortable. Allows you to hear the cars coming!

These are my second pair of aftershocks as I list my first. They are fantastic hands free. And even warn you if they are too loud.
Absolutely EPIK.
Excellent product I am partially sighted I do a lot of walking I like to listen to music which is very hazardous with AirPods or normal headphones with this item I can hear what’s going on around me at the same time as enjoying the music

OK, to all the audiophiles who want crisp this and deep that. Don’t buy these. You will not get any of that. They are best for anyone who is wanting tunes but also has to keep an ear out for other things like cars or other road users. I liked them the minute I put them on. They are comfortable, feel good quality and the sound is very good for something that is basically vibrating off a bone next to your ear canal(or something like that). I found them comfortable at full volume on my phone but the more you add volume wise the more vibration you get. Its not unpleasant but just feels weird until you get used to it. Oh and it sets off your ears itching a bit if you go too load. Would recommend as long as you know what to expect.
They’re great head phone very loud.
I’m not an audiophile, but have holes in my eardrums so I cannot hear parts of words, but these to me I here everything perfect while knowing when someone’s trying to get my attention to press the multifunction button to pause.
For music I would say they are 2x times better than cheaper 30 in ear buds that I have owned.
Draw back is that where they rest can get a bit moist but better than moist sweaty ear canals
I just wish they would use this technology in hearing aids it would be perfect for me as nhs ones useless.
I bought this for my mother who has a missing ear drum and a perforated ear drum. Combined with an app called Petralex which made her phone act as a microphone, she was able to hear perfectly in both ears for the first time since childhood. No more shouting at her, and this has transformed her world.
These phones are definitely the best I have used. Loads better than the usual plug-in type that I always feel are not super secure whilst riding my bike, or when running in the forest. I use one earplug so I am able to hear and converse.
This for me is certainly the best option.
As a piece of technology these headphones are fantastic, I have no doubt that they are near the best you can get for open ear headphones. I’m super impressed with the build quality, the battery, the magnetic charging wire, the carry case … it all screams quality. Another really nice feature is pairing 2 things at once – I frequently pair my personal and work mobiles at the same time (it just works, I don’t know how!)
The thing I’m disappointed about is not the fault of the headphones it’s just the way this tech works … if there’s too much background noise you can’t hear the headphones.
There comes a point in turning the volume up that it starts to vibrate and feel a bit weird, so you get to that point and then turn it down a notch. At that volume, in a quiet setting, it is about as loud as someone talking to you from across the room. Or if you’re walking down the street, it’s like they’re walking beside you talking to you.
So if you’re out for a countryside walk (i.e. there’s not much noise about) then these are fantastic. They let you listen while still being aware when the odd car/mountain bike/faster walker is coming along.
If you’re in a quiet office then they’re great too (as another reviewer mentions) … let’s you listen but still be aware if someone walks up and says hello. I’ve also used them doing odd chores around the house … again, a mostly quiet environment, but I’ll hear if someone shouts for me.
My main use for them is for dog walking … but I have to leave them off for the first and last 5 minutes of the walk as that part is near traffic and it’s just pointless trying. The noise of the traffic easily drowns out the headphones … I had no idea just how noisy tyres rolling on the road are until I got these! Once I’m away from the stream of traffic it’s fine and I can hear if/when the odd car is coming.
Like I say, it’s a problem with the technology rather than these specific headphones. All open ear headphones will have this problem, just be aware of it before you buy – I’m disappointed as it is, but if my whole walk was near traffic, if I lived in a more built up area, I would be totally gutted.
You must know what you are buying. If you are looking for a quality of sound compared to a Xiberia gaming headset, then you will be disappointed. Also, not sure what they mean with “great noise cancellation”. I mean, how can it be? Your ear is fully exposed to the environmental noise, THAT is exactly what you want with this kind of headset. If I want to be isolated from the rest of the world I use the above mentioned Xiberia, and I don’t even hear the dog.
You can safely run, walk the dog, and even ride a bike while listening to your favorite music and still be connected with the world like people calling or cars approaching. Riding with the wind is another matter. You definitely hear also the wind.
Said this I’m super happy of this item. I paired it with my computer and done some conference call, and it is also super comfortable for phone calls.
One “defect” (no big deal): the arc behind your head is fixed length. This turns out to be a little uncomfortable if you wear a hat unless your head is exactly the size of the arc :-). It fits perfectly if you wear a bicycle helmet though, because there’s no contact.
I know this seems a negative review, but it’s not. I totally subscribe the good comments/reviews others have made, and I recommend this item as a good solution to ride/run+music+safety
I originally bought these so that I could listen to music and audiobooks while cycling, while still being able to hear traffic etc. They are ideal for that, a work really well. What I have discovered, however, is that I use them just as much around the house and even in the car. The convenience of not having to take earbuds out to unblock my ears, and being able to hear my surroundings, has made these my first choice especially for audiobooks.
Audio quality is good. It’s not as good as in-ear buds, or over-ear headphones, but it’s perfectly decent. Volume is also good, easiky sufficient to cope with most fast downhills on the bike (so up to around 35mph). Comfort is excellent – I wear these all day without issue. Battery life is also good, giving several hours of solid listening and so much standby time I’ve not hit the limit of that.
The one thing they’re not good for is listening to something in bed. The stiff headband normally sits away from your neck and against pillows tends to push the headphones out of position.
Bought these because a friend brought them into work, and I was really impressed. I have so much trouble trying to wear ear buds. I have had 3 different kinds of ear buds but have to keep taking them out because my ears itch like mad. With these they don’t go into your ears they sit on the bone just outside your ear. You can still hear what’s going around you. They are just brilliant. Would definitely recommend these to anyone and everyone. And if you don’t want to hear what’s going on around you, they even provide ear plugs.
My husband has a lot of ear issues and I bought this for Xmas present. He loves them and stays out longer listening to podcasts and music (what’s not to love:))!
Great if you do not want noise cancelling, have tinnitus ar like to hear what’s around – a bit magic really.
Charge lasts days at about 2 hours min a day
I read the reviews and took the plunge. I am so glad I did as these headphones are so good. Not only do I use them for running and cycling, leaving me free to hear surrounding traffic etc, but they are great when working as I can listen to music, but also be totally aware of my surroundings and not have that “cut off” from the office feeling that you can get with in ear headphones. I find the sound quality absolutely fine. It feels like being in a room listening to high quality speakers, but you can still hear your surroundings. I really don’t think you would be disappointed with these headphone.
I find them good for cycling in the country. You can listen to podcasts and hear them clearly but you can still hear a car approaching from behind. They’re so good in town when the background noise of the traffic is loud. I’ve not tried them for noise cancellation. I guess you would need to use earplugs. Noise cancellation is not what I bought them for.
That score is lower than it should be because the things I was asked to score on weren’t the AFTERSHOKZ strengths. I like them.
Ok, these are generally sold for sports, but I bought them because I have industrial deafness in one ear and tinnitus in both.
First the positives:
1. They’re light and I found the Aeropex the most comfortable AFTERSHOKZ model. Try before you buy.
2. They leave my ears clear to hear normal conversations (and I don’t like having things in them).
3. They connect to Bluetooth quickly and hold their connection better than other Bluetooth headphones I’ve used.
4. The sound is surprisingly good, and at normal sound levels I can’t feel anything where they touch my temples. [Note that I use them more with tv/radio/podcast than music].
5. The microphone works well with my iphone.
But, there’s always a but:
1: They’re expensive.
2. Obviously no noise cancelling. If it’s noisy it means using ear plugs; back to something in my ears.
3. They’re sold for running/cycling in traffic, but once I’m listening to something I’m not sure what other sounds I’d notice. I need to pause the source to hold a conversation, as with any headphones.
4. Turning the sound up high starts a tickling vibration where the Aeropex touches my temples, and I find that annoying enough not to do it.
Yes you can buy better over-ear, or in-ear, head phones, But if you want to be aware of what is going on around you and be heard when using your phone with the roof down in the car, or even be cool in the summer these are the things to get. PS. unless you’re hearing is that perfect that you can hear a pin drop with perfect clarity from 30 ft the sound is excellent too.
I have some hearing loss and tinnitus.
I bought these to use on Zoom & listening to podcasts at home however I found that they made my tinnitus worse. It will probably settle down over time.

As you can see my only worry will be the compatibility with my helmet + glasses, no issue there compatible with all of them, the quantity of volume and quality it is more than enough to keep you safe on the road, once again I been using bose earphones, they are NOT comparable, the sound quality of earphones are a lot better, this one’s are GOOD enough to give you safety + the joy of music while pedalling, awareness it is most important thing cycling under the heavy traffic of London so 5/5 to these ones.
Ever wanted to run with music, but don’t because you’re concerned about the safety implications of running near traffic with impaired hearing? Then these are for you. A runner’s dream come true. In an age where the majority of the headphone market are all about noise cancelling technology, these are the opposite. Designed so you can still hear the world around you. I’ve also always had issues with any in-ear headphones staying on while I run – they always fall out, unless they have an over ear loop. These are sooooo light & comfortable it’s unbelievable. I could do burpees in these & they wouldn’t move. Seriously, seriously impressed. Grab them while they’re 30 off!
Firstly these earphones shouldn’t be compared with over ear noise cancelling sony or bose. Its like comparing a motor bike to a van they both are modes of transport but after that they are for different purposes. I have been using these continously for weeks and cant praise them enough. You forget you have them on they are so unobtrusive. Ive went to bed now several times forgetting I had them on. Ive owned the preceeding two evolutions of these earphones and these win hands down. Charging lead is so much easier than usb leads. The sound is loud and clear. Bluetooth is fast and solid with no lag. Multi device pairing is great. They are waterproof listening to music in the shower. Or even taking a call mid way through. A proper handsfree approach to audio without obscuring your hearing. Your ears don’t over heat and there is nothing in your ears to irritate or block them. Easily recommend. Best of its type.
Really happy with these. They are a great fit and have tremendous battery life. Paired in seconds and no issues dropping signal. As a test I wandered 50 feet away and worked just fine.
The sound quality is excellent, although don’t expect any noise reduction – esp on aircraft! Cunningly though they come with a set of ear plugs. The best thing for me though is that you don’t detach yourself from the world around you. I struggle with normal buds having had a mastoidectomy amongst other things and these are the answer to my prayers.
Well I’ve had these for a couple of weeks now, using them to exercise daily with, my first bone conduction headphones.
Addendum, I’ve had these 6 months now. Still excellent and battery life remains phenomenal. Perfect for exercise
Pros… Sound is excellent, feel so much better than buds / full ones. Cooler when working out. Instant connection, no issues as yet. Battery life is incredible and the set tells you high/medium /low battery when you turn on. Size is fine even on my potato head, I’m 6’5. Comes with 2 charging leads.
Cons.. None, try them guys
These are something else! I’ve tried ear buds, round the ear rubber things, none of them work for me whilst running. These are bone conducting so work differently, they’re not noise cancelling, they actually let some background sound in so if you’re out and about you can detect danger, cars approaching etc. Sound is really good, but it’s the comfort and security that win it. You don’t even know you’ve got them on. Also work with specs no issues. Quite pricey but well worth the money. You get what you pay for. In one word: Superb!
So many ‘buds’ drop out on walks (no matter what the manufacturers claim, and I’ve tried a few) so I had these recommended to me and they are brilliant. Obviously, because they’re not ‘buds’, no dropout issues and the sound and battery life is great plus the controls are easy and intuitive. No noise cancelling but then that’s the point for me: I need to have a sense of what is around me when dog walking and the occasional loud car is not an issue for me (finger temporarily in the ear!)
I really like these headphones. They really feel like a bit of the future. They also feel ever so slightly uncomfortable when worn for a long time, but not that bad, there’s no adjustment so it is what it is.
Bone conductive headphones, i just had to get a pair when i read that, and they work. They don’t have a ton of bass but they certainly don’t sound tinny. In fact the sound quality is really very good, crystal clear, very well balanced. Plus i can hear whats going on around me, which is a constant surprise.
I bought them for a bit of music when i’m on my bike, i won’t have them on loud and i can certainly hear everything around me, they feel safe. I’ve also started using them in work, because again, i can privately listen to music / podcasts / radio 4, and i can hear everything thats going on around me.
The headphones come with a booklet explaining quite a few control features. TBH i haven’t explored these at all, there are straight forward controls on the headphones for volume and pause, thats all i need.
Magic.
As a person with tiny ear canals, these things are just wonderful. I’ve never been able to use earbuds or even in ear earphones successfully. My only feedback would be that the band at the back could do with being adjustable. Apparently I have a small head too.
Can’t argue with the fact that they are an expensive bit of kit but in my opinion they are definitely worth it. Very good sound volume and quality, pair and controlled easily with my mobile and comfortable to wear. If you want/need to be totally immersed in sound then some ear plugs would be needed. However, these headphones have some clear benefits; at lower volumes they don’t completely shut you off from your surroundings (a definite plus for safety), the batteries last a long time (even if you forget to turn them off), they are waterproof (not swimproof) and can be comfortable to wear in bed. Another health benefit is that because you are not putting anything into your ears, as you would with ear buds, you don’t increase the risk of ear infections. What’s not to like?
In short, quite a pricey outlay, but a superb product.
I use the headphones so much. My son bought a pair so I was able to try his on, a complete revelation. With home working and zoom going on I can’t have audiobooks/podcasts at a high enough level to hear above usual kitchen noise. The Aeropex are perfect for me, I’m not cut off from hearing the door etc. Infact if I’ve turned them off to have a conversation I forget I’ve still got them on! Just used for the first time on a long train journey, was able to keep an ear out for any announcements. Great battery life and weighs nothing in my bag. I did buy a rigid case to protect them as they are really important to me now! Just delighted with them.
These are ideal for what I need as I use them when exercising, and around the office/house when I need to be able to hear what’s happening around me.
Sounds quality isn’t going to blow you away, but let’s be fair they are not for that. You also can’t use them in really noisy environments, but that’s inherent to the design. Aptx or similar would be a good addition on the next model.
Overall would recommend if you need a product of this type.
I was unsure about buying these but I’m so glad I did on a recommendation of a friend. I walk alone fairly often and being able to listen to my music and yet still hear any traffic, cyclists, or pedestrians is a god send. They come with ear plugs which if used makes the sound loud and clear but even without the ear plugs the sound is good. The controls are very easy and intuitive to use. Over all I would highly recommend these headphones!
If you are running or doing general riding these are fantastic. You can listen to your music and also hear all ambient sound. If you are riding along a busy high street or maybe a major road with lots of traffic around you aren’t going to be hearing the music.also don’t attempt to answer or make a telephone call whilst near lots of cars. I tried to answer a call from the wife. She kicked off because she couldn’t hear me because of the road, wind and car noise. If you try and take the headphones over 70% the pads vibrate and tickle the side of your face.
So to sum up.
If you are looking for a solution of listening to music and also hearing the ambient sound around you these are perfect.
Just keep away from busy roads with lots of traffic and you will still be able to enjoy your music.
With nearly 18k reviews, which is very suspicious, and almost twice the price of the next competitive headset, I did not think that I would like these but I do and here’s why.
I can wear them with glasses and I can use them whilst lying down. The material appears to be of a high quality and so they should last a few years – I think the band contains a titanium wire.
They are very water resistant and have a decent runtime of over 8hrs. Plus they have a great silicone protective covering and a great, thick, silicone case.
I’ve tried several conduction headsets and these are a magnitude better than the next expensive headset in every way.
Surprisingly, these have what no other headset I have tried has – Bass. But, you must block your ears, for which they provide you with plugs. I use my motorcycle filters which are far more comfortable. Because of the bass and plug thing, you sort of get the best of both conduction technology and in-ear phones.
The conduction benefits are when out and about but then in-ear type headphone benefits of bass filled music at had when listening in private. I think the bass issue is more down to physics and so something that no conduction headset will be able to truly provide. If that is the case, what Aftershokz have achieved is even more incredible and makes them even more the only choice in the marketplace to date.
I’ve been on a bit of a journey with trying to find a conduction headset. These are the third and most expensive pair I’ve tried and I’m even happy at the price as I now know that these really are the best on the market and are precisely what I was looking for – well done Aftershokz.
I’m hoping they really do last but I was finally won over by the two year warranty which I think shows a great deal of confidence by the manufacturer.
I did read all the Amazon reviews and can only say that, as a result of the issues raised by some, I will always wipe the terminals if wet and before charging. For safety, I already use a timer plug when charging any of my gadgets to prevent over-charging and I will always use earplugs when I want to listen to music in private.
Hope this review helps
Absolutely love these headphones! I have never had this type of headphone before but after trying earbuds which kept falling out and trying over the ear headphones which are also inconvenient when out exercising I found out about these Aftershokz headphones, so glad I decided to buy these, they stay on perfectly. I was looking for something that will stay on comfortably and secure and have decent sound quality, also I like to hear what’s around me traffic etc these are ideal for all that. I also use them to listen to the TV later in the night whilst others are asleep so I do not disturb anyone. The build quality is excellent, very, very lightweight too.
Distance covered is very low compared to other Bluetooth headphones.
No keys for skip/forward/etc. Only stop and play which is very basic and not as useful as other cheap ones provide skip/forward and other keys. This product should have been able to provide it as it has more space due to the design.
Quality is not great for the price.
Absolutely love these headphones! They are the best bone conducting headphones I’ve used. Really clear sound and good quality. It will never be as immersive as in ear headphones but they still have a rich sound and good bass.
Very comfortable to wear and lightweight! Sometimes I forget I have them in my head. They are well balanced and secure when running too and do not move about at all
Be mindful they do vibrate if you turn the volume up full but there isn’t really a need to have the volume full as the sound is clear at lower levels
Only niggle is that it’s not as quick or easy to switch between devices as you have to go through the pairing process with new Bluetooth gadgets
Overall though – these are excellent headphones, well worth the money and I highly recommend these for everybody, not just runners
These headphones are great for situational awareness but recently the left side started rattling and I am unable to claim the warranty because I hadn’t got the serial number which is on the box and on a card, not on the product themselves, SO BUYER BEWARE
EDIT: They are sending me a new pair even without the serial number, changed review from a 3star to 4sta
I bought this explicitly to listen to podcasts and for that purpose it’s perfect. I tested it with music when i first got it, and it’s okay, but not as good as noise cancelling headphones and at high volumes, you do get an annoying vibration.
However, seeing as I don’t use it for music, it’s ideal.
Great for daily work use… I’m not a great lover of in-ear headsets and over ear headphones exclude much of the world around you. These are comfortable, allow me to fully interact with family or colleagues and yet provide full and easy communication with incoming calls, online conference calls etc… all whilst allowing me to enjoy my music between voice calls or on-line conference calls.
Sound quality is good, but let’s be fair, these will never compete with in ear or over ear alternatives.
I cannot begin to explain how brilliant these are. Prior to buying them the reviews said that the sound quality was not the greatest. In the past I have used Bose and maybe the sound quality of these is not as good as these BUT, I have around 75% ish hearing lost in my left ear. Also I have really quite small ears so cannot fit earbuds in my ears. These are life changingly good. Like I can listen to my music. I can take calls. It is brilliant. The only teeny tiny complaint would be they don’t look like headphones so they don’t have that effect of people leave you alone but they are wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone but especially if you have hearing loss (obviously consult your doctor and depends on why you have hearing loss).
Only thing I marked these down on is noise cancelling. They don’t do noise cancelling.
I’ve been toying with the idea of buying these for months, I read loads of reviews about sound quality and how different they are etc to normal earphones as I like my music, but I’m so glad I bought them, I wear them at work for conference calls, out running or just listening to music while working. If you are worried about sound quality dont be they are amazing, these are the first bone conducting earphones I’ve ever worn and couldn’t be more happy.
They come with 2 charging leads, ear plugs if needed and a great little case , they have really thought about this product, I wish more manufacturers showed the same commitment.
You won’t be disappointed!
Oh! Wow! I was truly amazed when I tried these for the first time. They arrived on 27th, they charged really quickly and I was wearing them on my dog walk straight after. I have problems with ear buds as my ear canals are small and finding these has been a game changer. Very comfortable to wear and so so easy to use. I was amazed at the sound quality. Very clear, no interference/buzzing or distortion. Volume control so simple to change and quick. I could still hear my surroundings if I wanted to (my dog running and sniffing) but could still listen to a podcast clearly and crisply. Love, love these! Would definitely recommend. Very happy custome
Had previously owned the TredzAir version, but upgraded when I needed to replace them.
The sound quality is great, although not an abundance of bass, but then these are small bone-conducting headphones.
Bought them to listen to music and podcasts whilst out on a run, hence the bone-conducting part.
They work perfectly for that, and better than the previous model I had.
It does use a magnetic USB charging cable. Whilst this is very easy to use, it is a shame that it does not use a standard micro USB cable. Now if I go away for a few days and want to use these quite a bit, I have to remember to take yet another cable with me.
Overall though, these are fantastic and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase them again.
I bought these for two reasons. The first being that I have always had in-ear headphones, bu t a recent ear infection stopped me from wearing these and I couldn’t handle the idea of running with over-ear headphones,
The second reason was safety, being able to be aurally aware of your surroundings whilst listening to music as you run, and therefore not stepping out in front of a bus seemed to b a great idea.
Sound quality is reasonably decent, the headphones are very comfortable to wear, they don’t slip or fall off. or move around whilst you’re running and the battery life is just fine. Very happy to have these.
I use these headphones for both Microsoft Teams calls and mobile phone calls. As it connects to both at the same time, it is great and allows, me to take calls during video meetings. All background sound is blocked out and the Bluetooth is very strong allowing me to have meets in my house and while out side for a walk or ride.
My wife loves the quality and comfort for her daily walk so we plan to purchase a second set.
The only improvement I would like would be for the software to cut out wind noise as this would allow me to continue on my bike – currently I stop to take a call as the wind noise the other person can hear is very loud.
Bone conduction headset. Straight into the inner ear. I wonder why bone conduction hearing aids aren’t mainstream. These are not that though, designed for sport where you need your ears for what you are doing whilst piping music podcast of phone in in parallel.
I didn’t like them at first – sounded all tinny and high frequency but then I realised that I am used to not hearing those frequencies (due to age) , everyone else in my family thinks that they sound great. So I am learning to appreciate the experience. Good battery life. Press on the bone infront of the ear which gets a little uncomfortable after 3 of 4 hours. I thought they might be good for my open sports car but the noise of it drowns out everything. Ear plugs and a sports belt for the phone are included and the plugs provide noise cancellation for what they call total immersion.
I previously owned Aftershokz titanium headphones which I was more than happy with. However, these were classed as sweatproof and not waterproof. I decided to upgrade to the Aeropex for this reason and have not regretted it. The sound quality is great for someone like me who has hearing loss in both ears. I can now listen to music in stereo, which was almost impossible previously as hearing loss is different in each ear.
The headphones also allow calls to be taken clearly and am told by call recipients that the sound is also clear at the other end. I would say they are slightly expensive at full retail price, but I bought mine at a big discount on Prime Day.
I would recommend these.
These are brilliant, as a keen runner and rider I wanted some earphones that would let me listen without stopping me hear others, be they runners, bikers or motorists (for obvious reasons!)
These leave your ears open to the world around you and play music direct into your skull using your bone to carry the vibration into your ears.
They don’t have the sound quality of my Sony XM3 over-ear cans but I didn’t expect them to – what they provide is perfectly acceptable for you to listen while retaining spatial awareness. Apparently you can even swim in them, but not tried that yet.
Picked them up on the Prime day sales, great buy with the 33% discount applied.
These are my second Aftershokz headphones. I previously had the Trekz but they gave me ear fatigue, so I got the Aeropex.
They’re definitely lighter than the Trekz, with a kind of velvety feel. The battery life is a bit better and the sound is as expected. My only issue is that they don’t automatically shut down if they’ve been left on without being used. Cheaper models can do this, so I’m not sure why these can’t – it was the same with the Trekz as well.
I’ve been able to wear them with sunglasses and either a headband, visor or cap, without experiencing ear fatigue, and I don’t run in anything else. You will have to adjust the sound as you change environments but that’s not a big deal to me. I can hear everything around me, which is one of the main benefits of owning them.
I wish I had bought these in the first instance but you live and learn. If you can get them on special offer or at a discount price, buy them! Either way, they’re definitely worth it.
I had some little non iPod earphones that would constantly fall out during cycling which isn’t particularly safe. I would only use one so I was aware of everything around me. These aftershocks are a game changer! No chance of falling off, fit comfortably and I can now hear both sides safety because it isn’t even in my ear. The sound quality is excellent too. They are expensive but I hope they will last a long time.
It does what it’s designed to do and I’m pleased with it.
Received product on 11th May 2021
Pros:
– Sound = Don’t expect any anything amazing. Very good sound quality though. Bass is very minimal.
– Mic = Very good/clear/loud > Sent voice messages on Whatsapp, made phone calls etc and so far no one had mentioned my voice sounds very low.
Battery = So far it does last and perhaps beyond the 8 hours. Max 9, as I currently work from home have it on all day with Youtube on.
Cons
– Noise Cancelling – these are absolutely not made for that, hence for environmental awareness.
– Commuting – Could get drowned out by road work. Have not tried on UK underground tube yet, so no comments.
I love these headphones – they feel great and give me excellent sound as a nonaudiophile who mostly listens to podcasts and audiobooks.
However, my first set failed after about a month. I was taking them off while wearing a hoodie and they died and would not turn back on. I suspect it was some sort of poor static shielding. That being said, it was very simple to get a replacement set which arrived within a week or two. Excellent customer service.
HARD TO RECOMMEND IN ANY WAY EITHER THE PRODUCT OR THE SELLER. CONTACTING AMAZON NOT VERY HELPFUL AT ALL SEEMING TO AVOID RESPONSIBILTY AS THIRD PARTY SELLER, I LOVE THIS AS SOLD ON THE AMAZON WEBSITE !!!!
Good product to allow near headphone advantages and not shutting out the world . Much safer in the street than a closed system and good enough quality of sound.
I do alot of cycling on road and off and found these headfones great. They do not restrict Mtb helmets or road cycle helmets alike. As they do not go in your ear you can ear surrounding traffic when at medium volume. Easy to take calls but if very windy around you or heading down hill it is difficult to hold any form of conversation. That said if your on the flat with no wind then calls are ok. Have used them on 8 hr cycles with heavy rain during cycle and worked well. Very comfortable over long day and charging easy and takes around 3/4 hours from low to charge and lasts me an easy 8 hours on fairly active use of music and calls. Music quality is very good. Easy to use. Not the cheapest.
By playing certain unobtrusive white noises I can eliminate my sensory issues, it’s been game changing.
I also love being able to play audiobooks or music while I’m with the kids. I can still hear the kids fine while having enough distraction to pay attention.
I’ve worn them every day for about 3 weeks. The battery lasts all day, often more if they’re not playing continuously all day. It does buzz a little if at top volume but you get used to it pretty quick and with most things you don’t need top volume.
They’re really easy to connect, comes with two charger cables which are magnetic so no dust in holes. The pouch it comes in is nice. Phone calls are great and apparently the mic is much better than any other headphones I’ve had for cutting out traffic etc.
If I could change one thing it would be the band being smaller as it catches on my jackets but I’m small and it’s not enough to drop a point.
Mainly being able to listen without awful buds in my ears or headphones pressing on my ears is wonderful.
I gave 1 star for noise cancellation only because that’s not what they’re for, though they did come with east plugs if you want that. Nice touch.
So the main benefit of these is that you can hear your audio whilst also hearing your surroundings. You aren’t getting earth shattering audio quality – you’re getting utility – and for that they are very good.
The audio quality is hard to describe really. It’s crisp and clear, just with barely any bass. People say this sounds like cheap earphones.. that isn’t true. Cheap earphones are muffled and shrill.
I bought as my AirPods block out my surroundings so I don’t hear people calling me or the doorbell etc, but with these I’m still aware of surroundings. You can’t really hold a conversation with them on and playing music at a good volume, but you can tell that someone is calling you etc.
The pause button on the side is useful.
Other reviews say the alert beep is loud – I think it’s totally fine.
The magnetic charger is nice and it is good that you get two.
Initially I found them quite uncomfortable but this passed. They’re not quite as comfortable as the AirPods – I never forget that I’m wearing them – but they’re fine.
You can’t lie down wearing them.
Hope this helps someone.
What a great product. Comfortable fit sitting on the face rather than squashing down the ears, innovative way of hearing through use of the bone rather than the ear canal and ear drum, and slide easily down and into place. The sound quality is great, clear and depending on volume not audible to others around you. The mic picks up audio well and is clear to others you are talking to. Lightweight, charge quickly and easy to use with the on/off button, volume controls and the multifunction button – kept simple! The only thing that is a down for me, is that if you wear them the whole day, it can start to make my jaw ache a little, which I imagine if the vibrations that run through it, and when I take them off where the pads have been can feel a bit warm and stiff – but once I’ve massaged the area feels fine again. Highly recommend.
I wanted a set of headphone I could wear on a bicycle that didn’t block out traffic and pedestrian noise. I also wanted something I could wear while in a wet atmosphere such as a hot tub. They are comfortable to wear, I often wear them all day and forget they are there.
I use them to listen to talking books while working so sound quality is not paramount, someone who wants perfect sound may not be so impressed. When at maximum volume they do cause a vibrating sensation where they touch the skin, some people have said its off putting, doesn’t bother me, if I need them on maximum volume I’m usually doing something thats far more off putting than headphones vibrating.
Bluetooth does work over quite a distance, I can be in a different room to my phone and it stays connected, even between upstairs and downstairs. And it seamlessly answers the phone so I can speak normally and the inbuilt microphone picks up everything, when call is complete it switches straight back to whatever I was listening too.
Can’t find anything to fault about them as they do exactly what I want, including working all day, and if they do run flat 10-15 minutes on the charger puts enough life back in them to continue. The charger connection is also excellent, no fiddly usb plugs. The electrodes are encased in a magnet so by offering the magnetic charger port up to the headphone it connects itself, you can almost throw the headphones at the charger and the magnetic pins find locate and connect immediately.
After two years of use, one warranty swop out, these have been fantastic !
I will not hesitate to recomend them for use.
Just to be clear, I tend to use them (the Aftershokz Aeropex) all day long now, for general listening and workouts, and my other studio audio grade headsets and earphones for different purposes.
Have now purchased the Aftershokz OpenComm headset to test for conference call use. Will update with a review on those after a year or so of use.
The overall value of my review, is to those discerning buyers, who are not looking for a passing review of a product, rather a genuine, long-term user review, and then to give the review appropriate weight in a buying decision. I do this to help. Hope it does.
The sound quality in the Aerospekz is way better than the Trekz and worth the extra cost. Not only is it deeper and clearer with the Aerospekz you can hear clearly when outside in the wind. So the best headphones for runners.
However, despite the advertising saying they have 8 hours of battery life, the most I have got is 4.
I want to add this experience – my Aerospekz went through the laundry with my running kit. I feared the worst, but, No. After one hour in a bowl of rice they charged and worked just fine. So much more waterproof that I thought.
These are really good headphones, like the fact the sound quality is good, and I can hear everything that is going on around me which i need when out running/walking. They also work well for hands free phone calls.
However they have just stopped working after using them for 2 months. Aftershokz have a 2 year replacement warranty so I’ve just asked for them to be replaced. Waiting to hear back so hoping all will be OK and they get replaced.
I had a pair of the old corded Aftershokz and have absolutely loved them, so when these were put on sale I finally treated myself. They arrived today and I have already taken them out for a run to test them out. Bluetooth 5.0 is great, I have them paired to my phone and my laptop and they switch between the two easily (check the user manual for multiple pairing, it is a setting that needs to be turned on). The sound quality is a step up from the old version, and they are so light I could almost forget I was wearing them. the IP67 rating means I don’t have to worry about taking them out in the rain. It came with a running belt, a very snazzy pouch, and 2 charging cables, the spare charging cable is a great touch. Can’t comment too much on battery life, but there is great audio prompts when you turn them on to let you know how much battery you have left, considering I have run out of battery 5 minutes into a run using the old set (and then had to run half an hour with no music), this is a massively appreciated addition.
All in all, I am absolutely loving them and am definitely glad I treated myself.
I bought these to wear while cycling. Sound quality is best described as ‘OK’ (think cheap open-back headphones), so given that these are the the latest generation and supposedly sound the best, I can only assume previous models sounded awful… But they’re good enough for listening as a distraction while doing something else –and, importantly, while still being able to hear ambient noise.
Wind noise while riding can pretty much prevent you from hearing anything, but that’s so far only been an issue on downhills –flat riding isn’t affected anywhere near as much.
They fit under my bike helmet comfortably enough, but only if I put them on after putting on the helmet and fasting its strap. The headphones’ band needs to be outside the helmet strap, else it presses the bars that go over your ears and the bulky bits that sit behind your ears deep into your skin and that soon gets painful.
I can’t figure out a way to wear them with anything covering my ears, though –a buff or winter har also needs to be beneath the helmet strap, which means there’s no way to then fit the headphones. So these aren’t really suited to riding when you want to keep your ears covered against the cold. The controls are also very fiddly to use with winter gloves, but that’s hardly the headphones’ fault.
When cycling leaning forward with your head tilted up –the standard position for any drop-bar road bike –the band that goes around the back of your neck (and that normally has plenty of clearance) touches the base of your neck and shifts the position of the headphones around your ears. This is worse with high-necked cold-weather tops, but is more of an annoyance than a problem.
I’ll stick with them for cycling — they’re safer and more practical than traditional head/earphones, but they’re not a perfect option for the reasons outlined above.
[Incidentally, Amazon reduced the price by 30 the day after I bought these, but was unable to refund the difference. So I had to return the originals and buy them again at the lower price — not the best solution for all concerned.]
Bought these to wear whilst running and for working out. Great build quality and easy to pair to devices. Taken some phone calls with them too and the voice clarity is great.
Saved my life a few times as I can now hear traffic whilst I’m running. Easy to clean the sweat off too and the IPX rating on them means they won’t break in harsher weather.
If you want a pair of earphones for exercising then these are great. Decent sound and you can still hear your surroundings.
If you want earphones to enjoy music then don’t get these. Buy some proper headphones or in-ear phones.
I initially bought Jaybird Tarah Pro for workout that include skipping rope after watching reviews on Youtube. Users were claiming Jaybird are great for running and some wrote that jumping should not be a problem. It was a total failure! Headphones got out of my ears on multiple occasions and flew to the neighbors backyard. The sound was good only if you don’t move. So I was looking for the alternative…
I have decided to risk and get Aftershocks and they didn’t disappointed me so far. You can do skipping rope for several minutes without any problem. The sound is also pretty decent – it is better than Jaybird! plus you can hear your surrounding. Some people mentioned buzzing/vibrating sensation with them – no issue like that from my experience. Spouse said she cannot hear music while I wear them. All controls are there – pause, skipping tracks, volume and answering calls. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone with active lifestyle.
This is my first encounter with bone conducting technology, I had over exaggerated expectations that turned out to be false, yet I’m still pleased with some aspect of it. Just to point out that I don’t have issues with ear canal or membrane, I bought them purely to try out new tech. So..
Positives:
– Light and comfy, none of negative reviews regarding issues with pressing on cheekbones or awkward design are true. They are extremely light, easy to put on and comfortable to listen to music for long time(I used them while working for several hours)
-Quick to charge and battery last for long. I haven’t charged it for 3 days although I’ve used it a lot.
-Last but not last – loved packaging, design and all accessories coming with it.
Negatives:
-Music can be heard by people around when it’s around maximum
-Expected to hear well everything around me while music is playing(good use for cycling), however when music is turned on more than 50%, I can’t hear anything
-Sound quality could be better than expected
I was dubious about these and was aware that they wouldn’t sound as good as an in ear headphone. But I’m totally blown away with the sound quality and functionality of them, I have to say that they actually sound better than my shure in ear Bluetooth headphones and everyone that I have shown them to and let them try them are amazed at the quality of the sound.
Ideal for mountain biking and road cycling I can still hear others and road traffic so completely safe and great for keeping me entertained on solo cycling.
I’ve marked them as a three on noise cancelling as they are not designed for this but there is a set of earplugs included with them that I have not tried.
Don’t be a sceptic but yourself a set and you won’t regret i
I have really enjoyed them from the day I received them. I wear glasses and hearing aids so a lot going on around the ears. Because they don’t go into the ears but just go around to the front of the ear it works out fine. If you frequently take off and on your glasses can be fiddly. I use these to listen to pod casts, radio and news while walking the dog and can still listen to sounds around but obviously if you have them to loud you want hear ambient sound so clearly. If on 3/4 volume the will vibrate and becomes slightly uncomfortable. Very easy to connect to anything with Bluetooth and can connect to two devices. I sometimes forget I have them on. Take out the extra insurance if offered, our dog chewed them only had them for 4 weeks a lot of money to be damaged or lost/stolen.
