Bref bon acha
Literally the only problem is the velocity sensitivity (how hard you have to press to get a loud sound) but you can fix that with a software download relatively easily.
-The keys are full sized and soooo springy. It feels better than any 88 key keyboards I’ve played on.
-The pads are just sensitive enough and just big enough and feel satisfying to hit (not like my old Novation controller)
-The knobs and wheels and general body feel really nice and sturdy
I would have thought this keyboard cost like 400 dollars. Every human should have this on their desk.
By far the best thing about this midi keyboard is the full-size keys. They feel just like my $600 Casio keyboard, and the black keys have a slightly grippy texture making them much easier to hit without your finger slipping off. The ability to switch up and down octaves on the fly is super useful. The only downside is that the drum pads aren’t always super accurate, and you will sometimes notice they input twice when you really only pressed once. I don’t use them all that often so it’s not a huge deal breaker for me, but I noticed this problem right away with very minimal use. Overall for the price it’s not bad, but there may be some better options out there. This worked great for me though considered I wanted full-size keys and 49 of them!
This cost the same as my Akai MPK mini which i use primarily for adding strings and basic piano to my recordings but has 61 keys meaning I can properly play it as a piano.
It’s important to note that this is a MIDI keyboard and does not have its own speakers so you need to plug it into a compatible device to get sound from it.
I use it through Studio One Pro and I love i
I wanted a new keyboard to work with a DAW via midi. It looks and feels well designed. It plays perfectly well for a basic keyboard. Installation was simple and it talked to my DAW with no problems so far. Pretty good value so no complaints.
My son bought this to connect to his laptop for music making he’s very happy with i
Perfect for when you have grand intentions of learning how to play the piano again but also want to make your own retro synthwave music and then you play for a few weeks and then it sits on a shelf by your computer forever afterwards!
Quality is great, keys have a good feel to them. The software takes some getting used to. Had an issue with input delay when I’d press a key to when I’d actually hear a sound. Found a latency setting in the program and it solved that issue. Still have fun using this thing every once in a while. The drum pad is a blast!
If you know what you’re doing and how to use the program that comes with this midi pad then I’d suggest buying it. For me, it was a bit confusing, but I was still able to use it. It has a pretty accurate timing when you press on the buttons which is what many MIDI Keyboard products lack. It’s lightweight and has a looooooooooot of settings for you to mess with and learn.
Just plug and play with GarageBand. Unfortunately the software to program the keyboard doesn’t work on MacOS 11 🙁 but atleast the keyboard and octave parts work. Has a good feeling to the keys. Not like a normal piano, but definitely more quality than the old keyboard from the 2000s I had. I have yet to test it with a foot pedal, but I’m sure it’ll work just fine. I mainly bought this as a 61 key keyboard so it’s fine I can’t program anything, though it is a bit sad. Overall I would recommend.
This was the first proper midi keyboard I bought myself, so did a looot of research before hand and after stuck between the Akai mk3 and this I finally chose this.
My main reason for the Alesis (V25) was that I wanted the keyboard mainly for my desk and not on the go, and preferred full sized keys.
Keys: The keys themselves are brilliant, friendly due to being full size and the velocity on them is great. One point is that (like others said) the keys are slightly stiffer than on other keyboards, although I find that after the first 5 mins using them you completely don’t realise, in fact now I quite like it.
Pads: The pads surprised me how good they were. Saw many comments saying about the double tap issue, however after 4 months of heavy use I have rarely ever witnessed this. Maybe just not the best for live performance? But otherwise done great with me.
Other controls: The modulation and pitch wheels do the job perfectly and octave buttons are as expected. One of my only issues is that since it was made with mainly Ableton in mind, the rest of the buttons and nobs aren’t easily assignable in other programmes.
Build quality: Like I said this keyboard stays pretty much in one place on my desk so I wasn’t as concerned about it being super sturdy, though to my surprise this keyboard is solid for its price. I think its mainly plastic, yet does not feel like it, very solid. My only wish was that it was a little thinner, so would sit flatter, though realise this would be tough with the full size keys etc, so wouldn’t change it.
Note if you were wanting to travel with it more then it is definitely not as small or light as others like the Akai MK3, so maybe keep that in mind. Though I think this could still fit in a backpack if you made it.
I like this one a lot. Works out of the box. Fun times.
I bought this midi controller for my friend this Christmas. I was happily surprised when using the midi controller, it works amazingly, the overall feel is brilliant and it’s a joy to use, not to mention the worth of money (seriously, you won’t find the the same amount of quality in a product anywhere else for this money).
The only cons I can think of is the drum pad double-registers sounds sometimes. It can be fixed with the software included. Otherwise it can be physically fixed by screwing off the back and applying tape to the pads (from the inside) to dampen the registration of your clicks (tutorials on YouTube) (have not tried this).
Do not let that put you off because this is seriously a gem of a product. I would buy it for myself If I didn’t already have 3 midi controllers hehe.
This is a neat keyboard. Well built and feature packed for the money. At present I am just setting things up but I have been suitably impressed by the quality feel this keyboard has. The only thing I was surprised at was it arrived in shop standard packaging and not sealed in anyway or with extra protection. None the less it was fine.
Easy to set up and works very well with Reason and Cubase. I have had no issues with the drum pads double triggering and once I ran the set up application and got all the dials and switches behaving the way I wanted to, everything was easy. On the downside, I’m used to a decent hammer action keyboard and these keys don’t even come close; they feel more like the plastic switches that they are. There is a relative lack of buttons and dials compared to some competitors but I bought this unit for its compact layout, so there has to be a trade off. My existing sustain pedal works well with the keyboard without issue. For 110 or so, this is a good controller and despite its shortcomings it has found a permanent place in my set up.
Prodotto arrivato conforme alla descrizione e all’immagine.
Love the keyboard, the material is good quality, when you press the keys they are very smooth like a piano should be. Works great with my all the DAWS great performance a nice little feature it comes with Ableton intro if u want to learn how to use it. Would buy agai
He ido probando el teclado. An me faltan cosas por ver.
I may not have a lot of experience with MIDI keyboards and the “feel” or “experience,” but I can without a doubt say that the feel of the keys on this are astronomically better than what I was using before this, which was an Akai MPK Mini.
I’ve never played a real piano so I cannot give you comparisons from that perspective, but I can tell you after a few months with this bad boy I’m absolutely addicted.
If you’re just starting out I highly recommend grabbing some note stickers to put on the keys! Once you get the hang of things you’ll start to notice that you don’t even pay attention to them, but they’re handy for building memory of what is where on a keyboard!
This is one of the best MIDI keyboards I have purchased so far.
Comparing this to the popular akai mini, it is much better in terms of quality, design and price. The keys are much thicker and smoother which is good for people who struggle to use smaller midi keyboards like myself. The touch pads are very responsive and reveals a soft touch. The Blue LED is quite bright which gives a futuristic look which will enhance your set up!
Only problem, as it is much thicker and longer midi than the akai mini, it will be harder to pack in your bags and carry around for travel. However this is not a issue for me as I do not travel to studios with my midi.
Alesis is my go to brand for electronic musical devices, I know and trust the brand to produce good quality at excellent prices. This little keyboard with make great music and beats for most users of varying skill levels.
The software is packed with options to make any kind of music you like.. The software does take some time to get used to but the tutorials are great and with time and patience you can have a lot of fun.. Highly recommended product.
I bought this to get a 5 octave controller, having used another makes 4 octave product. One of the main features I wanted was that the pitch wheel was not sprung loaded, as all the Organ VST I have found, use the pitch wheel to control fast/ slow Leslie, and with certain makes, the spring means it will not stay on the selcted speed. A big feature I value, is that the Key size is Full Size width. Many Japanese keyboards are slightly thinner, and I use 2 keyboards (organ style) and they often don’t line up with the lower Weighted Piano keyboard I use. Although this is not weighted, for the price this keyboard works well, and feels good.
I wanted a keyboard in my control room so I bought this mostly because of the full size keys, I dislike playing on keyboards that feel like toys. On first glance it feels study and fairly well made and the I like the pads positioned on the sides. The first issue I have with it is that the keys feel very springy, a little too much resistance for me personally, not a natural feeling at all. The next issue is the pads take a bit of getting used to. I was double triggering at first but got accustomed to it before too long.
Overall I find it’s a well made keyboard and at a decent price. This is just an extra key for me and I’m sure it will suit my purpose for a long time to come. I would have given it 5 stars if the keys felt more natural but I’m happy with the purchase
This is literally the best midi keyboard for this price point if you aren’t looking for special keyboard features such as the ones in the Akai Mini or Arturia Minilab. As a producer in FL, I rarely find myself needing to use the knobs and the pads are great for coming up with quick beats. 10/10 would recommend this keyboard for beginners and even experienced producers looking for a budget controller.
The keyboards functionality its self is very good for the price. The drum pads, knobs and buttons on the left are very useful. Although the drum pads a very sensitive to the touch! The keys are very thick and require a small amount of force to press them!
This is the first MIDI keyboard I have gotten and I would of preferred to get a smaller keyboard.
Overall it’s okay for beginners but a bit cheap quality.
First off, the keys on this keyboard are great. They are heavy like some reviews have mentioned, but are equally weighted, smooth and with uniform action. 49 keys is a very sweet middle ground between compactness (it’s definitely not portable like a 25 key but doesn’t require a super wide desk to use) and having the ability to play with both hands, with about an octave to spare depending what you’re playing.
Many reviews mention the strange and unpredictable response of the keys and drum pads – the key response can be fixed by changing the curves in the V49 editor, but I agree the pads are a little unpredictable. The octave up/down and preset buttons 1-4 are a bit cheap feeling which is a shame but expected for the value you are getting here.
The Alesis V49 Editor could do with some more detailed user instructions and the UI could be more intuitive, maybe it is for someone used to MIDI but for a beginner which I believe is a key target market of this product, it wasn’t clear how to assign functions to different controls
The sustain pedal (not included) is a bit naff for this, (and not even cheap), but does the job. The sustain input jack is very stiff, the force you have to use to insert and remove a jack is a bit off-putting so this could be improved.
I use the keyboard with Ableton Live 10 and it works well, the volume dials are already mapped to effects such as reverb, hardness etc. Haven’t yet mapped the modulation rockers though.
Overall, a great keyboard.
The box appeared as if it had maybe been opened but it was perfectly fine inside and it worked first time so I’m happy. The software is for download once you register the product (using the serial number) so that was easy enough. I haven’t tried the drumpad yet it doesn’t feel like the best but I didn’t buy it for that anyway..
I put the most important detail in the headline and I will say it again: this keyboard fits perfectly under an iMac — 21 and 27 inch iMacs. The Alesis V61 a medium-quality MIDI controller…ok maybe high-medium, whatever. It works. Complaints have been fielded about velocity gradations and velocity control. I’m not that discerning a consumer (yet?). I had the V49, tried upgrading to an M-Audio 88 key model, found it didn’t physically fit into my setup, returned it, and bought this: the V61. Also, 61 keys has some legitimacy inasmuch as it’s the number of keys on a single organ keyboard. So, it’s, like, “normal”. Anyway I love this thing. Not only does it work musically, but it helps me compact my home studio, which frankly is just as important. I got a sustain pedal for it today and I am extremely happy 🙂
It is my first midi keyboard and I’m loving it. It will take a long time to learn how it works properly. The softwares that are included with it are complicated and are not easy to download. They made it very complicated to download and install. That is why I’ve been using FL studio instead. Thank you for the hat as well!
I am a beginner music producer and i bought this after my akai mpk mini. it is absoluteley amazing! that is all i need to say!
Good addition to record music at home. Being portable wasn’t really a consideration as it is for at home recording so I wouldn’t call it portable but having said that it is easily movable around the house to store and get out when needed
I had this device only for a brief period of time. The drum pads needed to be hit a little harder than I expected, but were a joy to play with. The keys felt good, and I experienced a minimum amount of velocity weirdness, mostly related to the black keys. Pitch Bending, and the knobs all felt and worked great. The buttons it comes with though feels stiff and gross. All in all, I would recommend this keyboard. As a device for a professional in a live setting? Maybe not, but for a home hobbyist music producer? Absolutely yes. I’m only returning my keyboard because my needs have changed. 61 keys were not enough for me to learn the style of music I wish to play.
does what you need it to do what more can I say, looks nice too and the keys feel decent.
I use Alesis v49 on logic and I have no problems with it, the only thing is that the four knobs on the left don’t work in Logic but I don’t care that much to be honest. The pads are good, it doesn’t double click unless you press it with a whole finger or with a superpower so no need to worry about that 🙂 The keys are (I would say) regular weight – like the typical weight You expect the MIDI keyboard to be. I’m very happy with it. I also like the design – the sharp edges look much better than the other keyboards and the blue lights is a nice surprise for blue color lovers. Enjoy your creating people ^^
Wasn’t expecting to have the thing dropped (literally there was a massive dent in the box!) off to my front door and the postman run away after “delivering” it. However the keyboard works fine and is a lovely piece of kit for the money you for it! The only gripe I have about this keyboard is the drum pads. They are not very accurate meaning that if you want to play soft drums you may end up having a random loud note or a doubling of others. They keys are weighted well however the unit has a bit of flex when playing hard. This isn’t really that noticeable if you are planning to play with synth presets but its not an expensive unit so this is to be expected! The LED’s are bright… Too bright sometimes! So I unplug it when it’s not in use and when I have to go to sleep. The macro knobs are nice and have a good feel to them however if you’re wanting to do quick modulation they need to be worn in a little before hand. Other than that I think it’s a competitively priced midi keyboard and well worth the money for someone starting out or if someone needs a budget option for a proper fully-ish sized keyboard!
Fonctionne trs bien.
Simple to use and understand. Great for the price you pay. Highly recommended.
I got this as a christmas gift for my brother, and he loved it. A lot of reviews mention that the drum pads are not very responsive and that is indeed correct but my brother has little use for it so overall it turned out to be a pretty great gift! Design is sleek and beautiful, easy to use, and matches his set up wonderfully.
Unpacked and setup. however, the software that comes with it does not work on mac or pc. alesis support does not reply to any of the opend tickets.
Fortunately it works with GarageBand that is available on a mac. But i need to buy some other software for windows 10.
The parcel didn’t arrivein the usual amazon standard packaging (usually an additional amazon outer box is used to further protect the goods). The box had been dented, good the keyboard didn’t get damaged.
One of the most potable midi keyboard. The sensitivity and versatility of this product is very good. It comes with the necessary software to use it. However, there is a small lag that can be negligible for most songs, but not it you plan to use it to play live really quickly. This is not bad, just something to keep in mind when using it. Also, it is compatible with standard keyboard sustain pedals, which increases its versatility.
I love this thing – I can stick it in my backpack and take it wherever, but still have proper full-sized keys to use. It feels solid and sturdy, but not too heavy. I tried out a lot of alternatives around this size, this one was my favourite by far. Obviously you’ll need a full sized keyboard as well, but this one works for quickly working out a bassline or topline idea, and composing on the move, of course.
I received this midi controller yesterday and have already used it with Musescore to separate voices for choir members and to record my own musical composition for next January. I spent several days examining the reviews and weighed the pros and cons before purchasing.
My priority was a quality keyboard with keys similar to a piano. The quality is definitely there. The keys are a little heavier than I expected, but it didn’t take long for me to get used to them. You certainly can’t play compositions quickly. I use this device strictly for inputting notes and for playback, and it does the job perfectly. I’m very impressed. If you need a piece played fast, then create it first and then edit the time signature until you get the playback speed you want.
One of the drawbacks of this device is it’s size, but it’s not heavy. It’s just tall and wide to accommodate the keys and control knobs/pads. Its size doesn’t allow it to sit perfectly in a keyboard drawer so I have mine placed on top of an open keyboard drawer with a padded backing to prevent the drawer from being closed accidentally and knocking the controller to the floor. It may not be ideal for some, but it puts the controller at a perfect height for me, and having the control pads and knobs on the left, means that I can move my laptop directly in front of me. (With many manufacturers the controls/pads are along the back of the unit which would mean keeping my laptop farther away in order to access the back of the controller.)
The item is described as having only 4 programmable keys, but in reality it’s more versatile than that, since all of the controls except the octave up, octave down, pitch and modulation wheels are programmable through Musescore. I have programmed all the other keys for the most used commands so I don’t need to use my computer keyboard all the time. For example, I have programmed all the major notes from sixteenth to whole notes, the dot augmentation, play, stop, note input, rests, and return. I have also programmed the sustain pedal.
I haven’t installed any of the included software that came with the controller since Musescore has everything I need. If I download the software now, since using Musescore, I’m not sure if I can uninstall the included software and return the midi controller to Factory Settings so I can go back to Musescore. Maybe someone else will have an answer to that.
I did rate this controller as low for new beginners because you really have to know some music before using it, or being open to researching music theory. It’s not a piano. That can’t be stressed enough, and there’s no sound unless you hook it up to a computer. What is amazing is that given its size, it uses a computer as it’s power source, and I haven’t noticed a huge loss of battery power on my laptop.
If I had one wish, it would be to have programmable keys on both sides of the keyboard since it’s difficult to play with the left hand and leave the keyboard to use one of the programmed keys. If keys were on both sides, I could choose which hand to use for certain buttons. Regardless, it’s still better than using my laptop keyboard or the mouse for note input, and it’s also better than having the controls across the back. Since Musescore 3.x has a feature that records automatically as you play, it’s really a minor inconvenience.
For my purposes, I couldn’t ask for a better midi controller.
I like this keyboard and the full size keys with a very nice weighted action are easy to play. It came with a number of very useful downloadable programs (serial key code provided) and connected to my laptop without any issues. The build quality is very good and, although not overly heavy, I wouldn’t like to lug it around too often, but I personally rarely move it, so this has never been an issue for me.
This is a very good value-for-money MIDI keyboard.
This is the ideal keyboard/controller for minimalists who demand real (full-sized) piano keys. I have the V49 and I love it. The keys aren’t weighted, but they have a nice feel and spring-reaction. It feels like a real piano. I’m pleased with the drum pads too. I have mine connected to an Ipad Mini and I use Fruity Loops. I love the simplicity and I’m getting some real sound out of it.
TIP: I found a cheap rifle bag on Aliexpress that fits the keyboard very nicely. This is the exact product name (paste it in Aliexpress.com):
Lixada 93cm/36inch Padded Rifle Case Tactical Hunting Bag Airsoft Gun Holster Rifle Bag Hunting Equipment Military Backpack
Excellent keyboard! My son uses it with logic and it sounds brilliant.
I love this product. One problem is that you sometimes have to press the keys quite hard to get the result that you want. It was bigger than I expected and it is probably not going to fit in a normal size bag. It’s really good for the price and does not feel cheaply made.
The drum pads are both bouncy and responsive. These two qualities are great and all, but often lead to multiple drum hits on a single button tap. Definitely not every time, or even 1/3 of the time, but definitely at least 1/10 of the time when I am not super careful and methodical about it. I once grabbed the keyboard by the key/flat side to raise it from the floor to my desk, now that key is squeaky. I’m just an idiot for that. Other than that, it works with Reason, and it even has knobs to control things in Reason *(and likely other programs too) so that’s nice. Pitch wheel is kinda weird and has a threshold where it doesn’t detect pitch change till you’re almost halfway up or down but maybe that’s adjustable. Overall, though, good value. With the right sound drivers it can register instantly with your music programs. ASIO4ALL software is my preference. Random side note: ASIO4ALL will tend to mute every other program, but it gives you quick responsiveness with your real-time key taps. That said, buying a nice keyboard does NOT guarantee your computer will instantly pick up your key strokes. That is software-side, folks!
Great starting MIDI keyboard! Used it a bit since buying and it has good responses on the pads, keys feel great to play on, very reminiscent of traditional keyboards/pianos with the chunky key design. Good build quality overall, not too heavy either. Very simple to plug and play and will work on most DAWs out there.
Es un teclado controlador MIDI por USB. Punto.
just what i needed! sounds great and had no issues with i
Really like the keys, but I have been having some double hit issues with the pads causing me problems. A little too sensitive (which may be a me problem, but I hope it helps out other people with fat fingers) and causes issues. The keys feel great and everything else is great quality. All the software that comes with the keyboard is incredibly useful for a beginner.
I bought this to replace my $80, 49 key controller which finally died after 10 years. The Alesis has solid weighted keys, an easy to figure out interface, and programmable dials, buttons, and drum pads. It powered up immediately from my PC USB port (I wish the power supply cable was a foot longer), and appeared in my Acid Pro interface as an optional controller. That was all the installation necessary.
If you are a concert pianist, this will probably be enormously disappointing, but if you just like to fiddle out some orchestrations through your computer, then this is perfectly adequate. I found the keyboard, and drum pad responsiveness more than adequate.
Two things to note: there is no MIDI port on this thing — just a USB power supply (and data throughput) cable, and a sustain pedal plug (pedal sold separately); the software (which I didn’t use) doesn’t come on a disk, but requires downloading from instructions they give you.
Bought as a gift. Arrived well packaged to keep item protected. The recipient is extremely happy with it making music. Easy to use. As described by seller. I would highly recommend this product.
Didn’t want a massive one but this one is just right. About the size of a computer keyboard and a little thicker than a VHS tape. Well worth it.
Anyone wanting a full-sized MIDI keyboard will like this. Nice design, good quality. Works smoothly with my DAW with no need to install anything.
Bought this to practice scales and chords while sitting in front of the TV. The only keyboard of 25 keys that has full size keys!!!! Also purchased a lighting to camera converter so I can plug into ipad Garageband, this is awesome!
With the built in pads this makes composing music a dream!
Bought this after my m-audio keystation mini 32, also bought from Amazon, died after six months. This feels well built and is very substantial. Not cheaply built like the m-audio was. The keys feel nice and have a great action to them and my DAW picks up the assignable knobs very easily, so assigning them to VSTi parameters is a breeze. Excellent value for money and comes with the 8 velocity sensitive pads too, which no other USB midi controller in the same price range has got. Hopefully this one lasts longer than six months or Amazon will be refunding me.. again.
I have loads to say!
DAW: This works perfectly well with Fl Studio 20 Producer Edition. I have Windows 10. I had some trouble getting the settings right in Fl Studio to be able to use it, but once I figured it out it was a breeze.
Use: okay, so I use this to make vocals easier to produce (I use VOCALOID to get the vocals). The keys are really easy to pay around with, so I can experiment with notes, which is was what I wanted.
Usually, I record basic notes and chords (usually either key of C or G) and then edit my mistakes after the recording is done. I’m not the best pianist, but the fact that this is a midi makes it so much easier to edit the noted in the piano roll after using it.
SIZE: Apparently I can’t read, I honestly thought that this was going to be 1.5-2ft in length. Nope. It’s 3ft long. I am 5’5″ and this goes up to my belly button when put parallel to me.
KEYS: Okay, the keys are not weighted, but because of their length, you get a sense of some weight. The only problem I have is the drum pads… they kinda suck. Like, they double tap or they just don’t tap at all. They don’t really feel good either. I’ve never used s drum pad before, so I don’t know what others feel like. But because of this, I plan on buying myself a separate drumpad (probably the lit asf one from Akai).
Overall, 4/5 Stars. Blue is my favorite color, so the LED lights REALLY turned mama on.
A superb piece of kit. Weighted keys with velocity detection, seemless connection to your DAW, and at a good price that won’t break the bank. Worth it.
As someone who’s played piano for 10 years I wanted a keyboard that would feel as close to the real deal as possible, and this is definitely up there. The white keys have a nice weight to them, they’re slightly heavy and feel like they’re pushing back a bit, but it’s definitely not a big deal at all when the general feel is so good. The black keys do feel a little less natural, almost a little clicky at times, but again it really doesn’t bother me and this is definitely a keyboard I can get used to. Worth a purchase for sure.
I keep this on my desktop to use when I want to try something without taking out my big keyboard. This is my third try at this type of midi controller, I won’t mention the ones before this. This time I was smart and purchased the insurance package. The best thing about this keyboard are the keys. Full keys with great action. So even though there are only 25 it feels great to play.
This really is so compact. Ths build quality is remarkable!
Gret product. Alesis V49 keys are little bit heavier comparing to my previous one, and I find them similar to a real piano which is also quite good.
This keyboard has been excellent to me so far. Just like the other users have said, you will definitely want to update the firmware as soon as you begin using this keyboard and also make sure to change the velocity curve to your liking. It comes with a curve of 4 which is a wild looking pressure sensitivity. It has a use but for most people I’m sure it is not the desired setting.
49 keys is plenty of workspace for me. I’ve played piano here and there all my life but am only now learning and teaching myself how to play. Anything less than 49 keys I felt wouldn’t be a enough workspace so I chose this. The keys are stiffer than I imagined but you’ll get used to it.
All knobs turn easily and the pads feel great to the touch. Modulator turns with ease and the pitch wheel has good spring to it.
I’m using this with the supplied Ableton Live 9 Lite software and I love it. Implementation was a breeze and fast. Though, you will have to get through the activation and account creating phase to get everything setup. And Xpand!2 is awesome! Just make sure you grab the code for it after you register your V49.
Last thing. Make sure you have room for it! It’s a fairly large keyboard and is 37″ wide! Make sure you have the real estate for it.
This is a very good keyboard, the keys feel particularly good being a bit heavier than most keyboards. Absolutely love it.
A marked improvement over the Alesis Q25 which this purchase replaces. The Q25 feels cheap in comparison and the keys and their action on the V61 far exceed those on the Q25. The V61 appears pretty solid and well made and the key spacing and height is uniform on the whole with a couple of exceptions. Nothing that will annoy me. A couple of the keys have a slight squeak but keyboards in this price range usually do and it is nothing compared to what I experienced with the Q series of controllers or my very old Fatar SL-161. To be fair, the key action actually feels better than on some far more expensive ‘quality’ synths that I’ve used. So no issues with the quality of the product. The form factor suits me due to my restricted desk space so it’s ‘slim’ form factor is a winner and one of the reasons I chose this model.
In use I immediately checked the Firmware was bang up to date (it was) and using the V61 Editor I changed the keyboard sensitivity from 4 to 2 as is advised by many on the relevant online forums.
Spent a good day messing about in Logic and I am very impressed with the positive action of the keyboard. The drum pads really do appear to suffer from double tap midi messages. However, I actually found this handy when doing snare rolls as it inadvertently put in the odd double hit which sounded quite good. To guarantee a single hit you must hit the pad fair and square in the middle but to trigger doubles try hitting near the corners. Believe it or not it actually works quite well and I was coming up with some interesting patterns. I really like the addition of the pads on the keyboard. This means I can get rid of my Akai pads and further minimise the amount of kit on my desk.
So all in all a good product at this price point which exceeds my personal expectations.
Good quality in general, the keys work good, the pads too (some of the reviews mention that unexpectedly you get a repeated sound with some of the pads, and it happened to me a couple of times, but not anymore, I think it’s because it’s new, then they are working really smooth.
What I didn’t find that friendly is the software to assign the different MIDI capabilities.
Nice and sturdy. Keys have good action, and the pads are a nice addition.
Absolutely sick. Using it on Logic Pro X and it works awesome.. don’t get what people are talking about with the whole velocity sensitivity I haven’t had a problem at all.
Just go download the V25 Software on Alesis.com, and from there all you need to do is plug it in your computer, follow instructions in the V25 software, program your DAW, and it’s up and running just like you want. The keys are full sized squared front, the pads are LED-backlit, and respond quite well, I think it should be just a little more sensitive, so I don’t have to hit it so hard to get the velocity I want, but still works fine, just kinda annoying at 1am lol. The assignable buttons and rotary knobs are useful for controlling parameters in the soft synth’s controls without having to go back into the DAW, but I haven’t used it much as of now, so I can’t say much on their performance. Other than that, it has a sustain pedal input, like many other MIDI controllers, and just overall, the quality is impressive, seems like it could last me years of use.
eally great keyboard! I love it, sturdy build quality! works out of the box with Ableton! Cubase you need to program the knobs 🙁
if you’re looking to learn piano via a midi keyboard though I suggest getting one with a higher key count!
a very minor issue is on the pads: sometimes if you’re too light with the tap or let your finger bounce it registers as a double tap. BUT it works perfectly when you tap with purpose!
Had this for about a month now. Perfect. The Octave up & down buttons allows you to access a full sized piano/keyboard. Works great with GarageBand on Mac.
This was bought for my son who is doing sound engineering in uni, and he has been very pleased with it.
The quality is really amazing for the price, really happy, no complains
Works exactly as advertised no problems pretty much plug an play no need to download drivers I use it with FL Studios 10 I like how the keys are full sized an not small flat ones like other ones are this is more realistic piano keys an to me it gives me more of a better vibe when making melodies it doesn’t feel cheap when I’m playing the drum pads I don’t ever use but I’ve seen ppl complaining about it the most but for it it’s all about the octaves an piano keys an the design it fits perfection cuz I don’t have much room on my desk.
Bought this for my son who is studying music tech and he loves it.
Delivery was fast, action of the keys is fantastic. Setup on both Windows 10 and OS X was a breeze. Integration with logic and ableton is flawless. Mapping of the pads for midi drums is intuitive.
Only thing that I dislike a little is the feeling and the size of the pitch wheel. But at around 100$, the value is INCREDIBLE. great little controller for pitching ideas.
EXCELLENT. I have only had this for just under a day and i knew it was a solid purchase right out of the box. What is important to note with this is that it is aimed at the music composer who wants to minimalize hardware as much as possible hence the alesis ‘s very small amount of features. but what it lacks in function it makes up for in build quality for sure. i traded my M audio oxygen 49, a keyboard which despite having 4 extra knobs, 9 sliders, transport controls and another feature or two, it just pales in comparison to the alesis V49’s construction. The V49 has semi weight keys which feel so much more responsive, the 4 knobs are a little stiff but smooth and sit solid in the side panel, the pitch and mod wheels have a very firm slick feel for accuracy with added rubber coating for a nice grip, and the drum pads are SO MUCH BETTER then the oxygen’s in terms touch and responsiveness. the assignable buttons and octave buttons are a little too clicky for my own taste but its a minor thing i can live with. The entire thing overall feels like it has weight yet simplicity with the controls sifted to the left side leaving room on your desk for your monitors or display. One of the biggest issues with controller keyboards today is having too many features for the sake of variety when we live in an age where software is king and can do so much more with the click of a mouse, and for me i prefer to keep most of my function and editing in the software and not the hardware. If you are one who wants a very straight to the point, no hassle, and very neat clean laid out keyboard then the alesis V series is for you. I have not tested the mapping software that comes with it, then again i never bother with it anyway because it can be a hit r miss situation setting things up. its easy to just plug it in and use your DAW’s built in midi learn function as and when you need hands on editing done =)
I think this keyboard is great! I’ve never played a piano so I bought this to use with learning software/game like Synthesia and it’s fantastic! It plugs directly into your computers usb port and only with software can it produce sound. Will not work without software!! But you already knew that…
The software it comes with is Ableton Live 9. The program comes with lots different sound presets including (and my favorite) the grand piano. In Ableton Live 9 (with stock settings) I did notice some input lag, but you just have to change the preferences to get rid of the latency. The keyboard is pressure sensitive (not sure if that’s correct wording) – what I mean is it can differentiate hard key strokes from soft ones…and I was super pleased with that!
I haven’t found a use for the pads yet, but I did try them. If you hit them with correct force they work great, but if you softly tap them- you may get double hits out of them. So play like you mean it!
All around I love this keyboard! I think its great for learning and I would definitely recommend it!
Great Midi Controller alone for those nice sem-weighted keys. They feel great and spring right up for very responsive chord runs. Design is super slick, and its shaped really nice, great for limited space.
Then the pads…. oh the pads.
Imagine inheriting a new house, but the house is in ruin. That is how I see these pads. On one hand, It’s neat and they work ok 80 percent of the time. On the other, I had to tinker with velocity curve for about an hour to get to 80 percent. The double tapping happens, its annoying but not a deal breaker, since I’m using it for home recording not DJing, so a quick snip in piano roll fixes it fine.
Back to those keys, of those wonderful keys.
Pros: REALLY nice keys for the price,
Good design, space saving
Cons: The pads need tinkering and double tap sometimes.
Still give a 4 for the price to usability
I just received the keyboard, everything works fine. The keys are sensitive and well disigned. However, I can’t pull out the port of the keyboard after I hardly plugged in.
Apparently everyone complaining about velocities can’t be bothered to Google the problem.

Go there and follow the instructions. I recommend setting the velocity curve to #2. Updating the firmware (on Alesis’ site) is a good idea, as well. I used this keyboard at practice for the first time yesterday and I love it. The action is a little stiff compared to what I’m used to, but that took all of about 20 seconds to get used to. For the price and functionality, you are going to have a hard time finding a better deal than this keyboard.
I love the editor, too. Being able to change the pads from note to CC, change the pad behavior to momentary or latch, and change the CC & on/off velocities for the pads and buttons is absolutely fantastic. I wish all keyboards had such an easy way to reroute and rework the internal commands.
Should Alesis have shipped this with velocity #4 as the default? No. Is it difficult to fix? Possibly: if you are blind, paralyzed from the neck down, or just straight up have no arms or legs. I am NOT an Alesis shill, I just think it’s ridiculous that this keyboard is getting bashed by people who obviously don’t know what they’re talking about.
Brilliant little controller, it’s perfect if you are looking for a way to make things that little bit easier. The lights look amazing in a dark’ish room. The keys are quite heavy which I like but I guess for a soft handed person this might be a problem. The reasons why I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is because it is an amateur controller but for the money you can’t complain !. I think I might upgrade soon to one with more keys so I don’t have to keep jumping octaves to lay down tracks. Conclusion a great little controller for a beginner !
Great value for money. I am vrr pleased with this keyboard
Bought for my son, he’s delighted with the keyboard, it does everything thats required for his music course. Good price and fast delivery. Well pleased.
So far so good, I’m really hoping not to experience any problems with this keyboard, it has very wide velocity range which sometimes it’s a bit annoying… But if you adjust the velocity sensitivity through the instrument your controlling then it’s perfect. it’s nice and compact…the pads are practical but maybe not the best pads out there. It is very useful for what I neee it for which is producing and quickly transferring ideas from my head to the computer… Maybe it’s a bit unpractical for those with a different purpose? Maybe. It was also packed very neatly with its box and cables, instructions and receipt. It’s worth its price.
