I bought this filter to replace Fluval 401 which had started to leak at the join and from the pipe connectors. Although this filter is much cheaper than a Fluval equivalent, I think it is just as good if not better. But time will tell, as the Fluval was at least 8 years old befor I had to replace it.
Like the size of the infeed holes no need for rubber seals connections ,in and out feed connections good , pump works well with suction and out flow in my 6 foot fish tank
I have been using this for three months now. It is a replacement for a 1200 litre /pump. It has very efficient suction. We have oversized the filter pump to the size of the tank do this doesn’t have to work too hard.
It sits inside the tank cabinet on some carpet underlay. This deadens any reverberation from the pump through the cabinet, so it is super quiet. You can buy replacement components, which very helpful.
It is easy to shut off and take out to clean, far easier than an internal tank filter pump.
Fitted this to my old Aqua AR980 Tank, the integrated filter system was failing and I decided to replace it with an external filter. This unit was recommended by a friend, I did have to alter the Tank rear top edging for the new clamps to secure the pipes to the tank. I then followed the instructions which were easy, I like the syphon pump on the top of the unit three or four pumps and the system was purged, switched on and the water was instantly circulating. It is quite in operation and sits nicely in the cabinet below
The water is crystal clear and is keeping all the levels correct. I am very pleased and the fish are all good, Guppies are breeding ! baby’s everywhere. I have not yet had to clean/empty the filter but my friend tells me he has no issues just take your time and all will be good.
Update: I have had this over a year now and all is good, what I have found is when I clean out the pump and replace the filters, I get as much water in the pump as possible so when I re connect the pipe connector it only takes one or two pushes on the priming pump to purge the system. It still runs almost silent and I have not had any leaks. I change the filters/charcoal every two to three months maximum with a 50% water change and the water is always crystal clear.
What can I say but BRILLIANT SO EASY TO USE.
The water quality was clear within roughly 30 mins fish look and behave like the have a new lease of life!
It works fantastically well, you do not notice the noise level during the day but of an evening with the t.v. off and no music playing then you can hear it but it is not to loud.
There is only one flaw to this filter and that’s the rubber seal on the lid, it’s not big enough to be water tight and the huge pressure involved in the water it’s moving around means it leaks.
However there is a simple and cheap way to make it perfect, and that’s to wrap duck tape or thin plumbers tape around the rubber band. The duck tape creates a water tight seal, takes a bit of effort to then clip the lid but that’s the way it should be. After that I had zero leak. I have it sitting in a basin just in case though lol
The fish are loving it, zooming about the tank enjoying the water flow.
Read good n bad reviews , not had any issues after 6 months no leaks easy to set up . I have recently put in a prefilter so this helps with less cleaning . Less cleaning means less opening .

I love this filter! My water is crystal clear since i set it up. Very quiet easy to set up and clean works just as well as the more expensive brands. My tank is around 160 litres and I’ve had no issues. Also quick delivery.
For the price I was a bit weary of buying but at this moment in time I cannot fault this filter. Easily put together and dismantled for cleaning. Great powerful filter and maintains the cleanliness of the tank so VERY HAPPY!!!
Great product for the money only problem was noise level gradually got noiser, I took apart and noticed the impeller needed to be pulled away from magnet noticed if u twist lots of slop once pulled apart slightly

This is my second pump from this retailer, the 1st lasted over 10 years non stop running. It has sadly bitten the dust so time for a new one. Great build quality. Easy to maintain and spares are not expensive. Only changed the UV bulb once in all that time. The priming system works brilliantly. Think I’ll be back for another in 10 years.

My water is really murky and now it’s very clean I’ve got to leave it 48 hours I’ve only just done it that’s why it’s not a full five stars because I don’t know how easy is it to clean but it looks easy enough it’s absolutely brilliant to be hones

We’ve had this a couple of months now and haven’t cleaned it out yet but the tank is still crystal clear. Strong in & out flow, easy to use, looks clean & sleek. Only small issue is if you have a completely silent house you can hear a quiet buzzing.
Awesome buy. So pleased with this product. Purchased 1000l pump for 3ft tank and works perfect, tank has never looked so clear. I am amazed at how quiet it is. It is a sturdy, solid piece of equipment which was so easy to install, the set up video on their site was a great feature too. Excellent value for money, the cheapest I could find and so far has proven to be the best one ever purchased. So if you are looking for a professional piece of kit to enhance your aquarium then look no further – this is it.

Great filter for the price. A little difficult to prim but in the end I stuck my syphon pump down the inlet pipe with the motor running and forced water through which did the trick straight away. Only draw back is the motor is a little noisy. But all in all very happy
I needed a new external filter that wasn’t too dear. This one is amazing, first of it came well before the delivery date. It’s not noisy at all (I sleep in the room as the filter and have trouble sleeping and this doesn’t effect it at all) it’s really easy to assemble and does a great job! Definitely got so much quality for the price.
The pipes (black) do feel cheap but that’s all, it’s still very worth the price. I have a 333 litre tank with sand and it’s doing miracles.

As a filter it’s not too noisy. Wasn’t too bad to put together but wasn’t the easiest either – tubes can be a bit fiddly to attach. Was a bit difficult to get it to prime so haven’t actually tried to clean it yet. I have had it set up since March when my old filter broke not suffered any problems with water quality (although I did pack out with my old filter media) must be doing the job.
I really like this filter it is easy to clean and cleans the tank really well. The one downside is that it’s quite loud so you might not want to have it in your workspace. Also be careful will the green pipes make sure they don’t pop out.

Where do I start with this amazing piece of kit from all ponds solutions (which most of there items are amazing) … We have 3 (1 with uv steriliser attached also) these spread over 2 tanks in our living room (1 is 520l, the other is 300l) I’ve read previous reviews saying they are noisy, they are to an extent however what to you expect from the gigantic cannister that’s pumping 2000l/h? These filters are amazing we have crystal clear water in both tanks and the fish love playing in the water that comes from the spray bar. They are fairly easy to set up, we packed ours our with extra filter media for optimum affect and its worked. I would recommend these to anyone who is in 2 minds of buying a cheaper brand and thinking its rubbish because that’s what we though and we were massively proven wrong (a friend who has only ever used fluval has comment on the products we use and rates them massively)
3rd canister has been attached for about 1 month now (newest 300l tank)
2nd has been in use for about 3 months (2nd one in the 520l tank)
1st has been in for 6+ months (it was bought for our old 300l bow front and then transferred into our 520l tank)
I write this because alot of reviews state they have leaked etc, I’ve had no problems with any of my 3. Just make use all pipes are fully on and secure (I recommend using boiling water to expand the pipes to make it easier to put on).
This new external filter is amazing. I wish I’d got one years ago. It’s a brilliant price and works excellently. A little bit fiddly to set up getting the pipes the right length but that was more me not taking my time than the products fault.
The extra room in the tank is a nice bonus. The water is crystal clear. It also produces a nice gentle water current from one end of the tank to the other. The unit itself has a great feature allowing you to just stop the water flow and disconnect the pipes in one button. Then just take the whole filter to the sink to clean.
The filter is a bit noisier than the internal one I had, its located in a cupboard below the tank and it is jsut audible above the TV.
Over all a truly excellent filter at a great price. If your tank isnt in a tv room dont even think twice about getting this, amazing! Even if it’s in your lounge (mine is) still get it!
This is my second filter, my first one was one of the named brands, cost me nearly 200 and was absolute pants. Pain in the arse to put together and I ended up my tank crashing and lost all my fish even though I was running it with an already established filter. I’ve not had this filter long, however, I found it’s easy to put together, quiet and I’m just loving it. I’ve no fish in my tank as of yet as I’m having to do a complete cycle, so far however it seems to be doing the trick.
For those having problems with flow, you need to make sure that NOTHING is petruding into the fan (such as filter floss etc) and that there are no air pockets preventing the flow. Wiggle it around to push the bubbles out and the flow is incredible. Very strong and powerful. Used on a small yet high maintenance tank and it’s doing wonderfully. Would recommend.

As much i love this filter, i find it frustrating that it has small parts that break very easily.
I had a small plastic bit snap off from the “in” nozzle on the lid. It caused a leak that almost flooded my office.
You cant bye a spare nozzle, you have to buy the whole lid with the engine. It’s half the prize of the whole filter.
Lucky for me I found the minuscule plastic bit and managed to glue it back on and the leak was fixed.

The unit its self is almost silent so already a decent buy. The only down side for me was the time it took to get it up and running, as the priming was a bit of a pain. However minimal in the long term. I recommend this product.
If its behind a door on your aquarium stand then its quiet otherwise there is a bit of a noise from the motor, other than that it gets the job done.
Would be best suited for maybe a 3ft x 18″ x 18″ i had it on a 7ft x 2ft x 2ft next to my fx5 just to help.
So far so good, we are using this for turtles which are smaller and messier than fish and we are very happy so far.oh and it is silent.*UPDATE so a year on and it started leaking upin further investigation it seems the seal around the top wears over time and this is a common problem. I tried mutilple things to try and remedy it but they all failed result ruined carpet and had to pay out for a new filte

My 3ft tank was sold as a package from a pet shop and was always struggling with the internal filter it came with. I struggled if I’m honest to get the pipes on myself, so I got my husband to do it. I’m ashamed to admit the water wasn’t very clear, which became apparent after the new external filter was on.. I swear, all it took was about 10 minutes, bearing in mind my tank was bad. Oh yes and one more thing, with a clip on the side filter, I couldn’t fill my tank to the top as there was a maximum water level on it, now with this new external filter I can fill it to the top. My fish now have room to swim about. They’re cichlids so they need room. My hubby’s after one too now for his tank!! Thankyou!!
I bought this pump as I was just setting up my Fishtank and my old pump broke when I first saw the product in the box I was quite astounded how good it looked it was easy to put together and it came with every think you need to set your tank up so I put it together I was impressed with the flow and the amount of power at head for the size of the unit and within 24 hours my tank was crystal clea
No regrets. Myself and my partner, instantly, saw a crystal clean difference, strong flow – creating quite the cycle and, most definitely, quite an outburst of quality, clean water. Resulting in my fish, Angels, with my limited amount knowledge, had began to lay eggs. My fish enjoy their home, thank you for helping to take that last step making them happy.
I could use a little guidance, filter media wise, though please? And how often do you suggest to change or clean the filter? Including water changes, please?
Firstly I do own an eheim Ecco pro which is an incredible filter, the noise levels are the biggest difference and the cost is a lot cheaper to run. However that was over 100 so if you don’t have the money to spend but want a high power filter… defo worth considering.

The plastic media inside isn’t really the best and I have replaced it with fluval bio media.
Basically the filter is a bargain… if you want silence and the best media then buy a more expensive filter. Maintain as it should and set up as per YouTube video (search- “pimp my filter all pond solutions 1000ef” it is awesome and full of good tips).
It has been so good in my cichlid tank that my dad asked me to order one from him and he loves it too!
It’s huge. And that’s great because I have a huge tank housing two very greedy turtles. which means there’s always a lot of pooh going on, invariably inside the tank. This filter was a long time on the shopping list. It arrived and I was keen to open the box. There is everything which is needed compactly stored inside (media), and all of the contents were present. I was slightly unnerved at its assembly process but eventually completed as per (extremely vague) on box as well as booklet instructions. I was ready to go and waited for miracles. What promised itself to perform miracles simply didn’t happen. The whole of the tank was a cloud of murky and disgusting looking water. I held out for a few days and decided that I’d return the item simply because it was not filtering any one single thing. As a final attempt to get the thing to work I decided to completely clean the tank. After several hours if carrying this out (I used the out hose to empty the tank….fantastic), I refilled the monster tank using the other hose. Last final attempt to get the thing to work. And it did. The water is as clear a week on as it was following the cleaning. I won’t be returning the filter. From being as bad as the worse filter I’ve bought to the best, I cannot fault it. Truth is I should have attempted at least a complete cleaning at the start. It’s as simple as that. There is little noise, ever, and no tank stink ant more. Five star recommendations. Thanks.
I’ve had this filter set up for just over three weeks now and it works well, hardly audible over usual ambient noise (tank set up in living room)
There is noticable filtration, after reef rock had been added to the tank it took less than 10 minutes before all the floating debris, sand and insect carcuses had been removed and the water was pristine again.
The filter is easy to install and the removable piece with the stop tap is convenient when cleaning/changing the media.
My only gripe is that there is very limited personalisation with the fixtures of the inlet and outlet pipes. My tank lid has a panel open at the back and I cant accommodate equipment on the side of the tank, meaning I have no adjustment on the positioning holding the pipe to the glass. Would have been great if it came with a ‘t’ or ‘l’ junction just to give more options for positioning within the tank, although it’s easy enough to order the piece and attach it which I may do before the end of the cycle.
Overall, chuffed with it so far. We are new to marine tanks but it’s working well for us in a 3ft 135l tank. Would definitely recommend, especially with an open tank.
Good product, no sound at all in the filter, an option to tilt the water spout in the aquarium to vertical would have been great.
So I bought this to run along side my fluval 306 external filter. At first I was really skeptical about getting it but for 41 I thought it was worth the risk as an additional external filter. It was extremely easy to set up and the self prime on this filter is a lot easier than fluval! I can’t really complain about the cheaper plastic tubes as the price definitely makes it worth it. So far, so happy. I will edit if anything changes.

Great little filter (actually a lot bigger than I was expecting). Had it installed for a few days and seems to be doing an amazing job at making the water in my tank crystal clear! Only downside is that the instructions are a little lacking and seemed like there were a few pieces missing (I believe there was meant to be 4 suction cups, and two pipe clips. I only received one of each). Also design of some of the elements seem different in the instructions so took some guesswork to set up. Had to cut down the inlet pipe to get it to fit in my aquarium. Other than that it seems to be doing a great job and is a hell of a lot quieter than my previous internal filter!
I have waited a year before reviewing this product. This is exceptional value for money and has worked faultlessly for 14 months. I have a well stocked 5 foot cold water tank. I have undertaken maintenance every 2 months and each time the process has been very straight forward. I have had NO water leakage or any real issues with this process. It can take a little while to get rid of trapped air but that is the worst problem I experienced and is largely a user problem (me) as opposed to a product issue. I could not recommend this highly enough. The only gripe I had was that I thought I was getting the UV version – My fault again but worth verifying of that is something you are after.
My aquarium stands on a nice oak cabinet. I wanted an external filter to put inside the cabinet and was worried about spills etc when taking the filter out to clean.
No need to worry. This is really good.
On the top of the canister, where the hoses connect, there’s a release catch – flick that back and disconnect the hose bracket – not a drop is spilled and you can take the filter away to be cleaned leaving the hoses, still full of water, hanging in the cabinet. That release catch seals off the system so not a drop of water is spilled.
One down side is the noise – in my case it’s standing in a wooden cabinet which acts like a drum amplifying the vibration noise. I stood it on foam (actually the free kneeler that I got from ScrewFix) and that fixes the noise problem.
Another downside – well I think it’s a downside – is that the supplied filter medium is a kind of fabric pad just half an inch thick. Each level of the canister is a separate stacked basket capable of taking quite a fat (maybe 2″) foam media so, in my mind, the space was wasted by having such tiny pads in each basket. Eventually the fabric pads started falling apart so i replaced with nice fat foams. Also the plastic balls aren’t that brilliant either. I prefer ceramic balls. so added a load of them as well.
So, anyway. 9 months in, I’m giving this filter 5 out of 5. If there was more than 5 stars I’d give them.
Don’t be fooled by the advertising, it is a noisy filter. Not as noisy as the 2000ef which rattles loudly. I would rather buy two of these if you were considering the 2000ef.
Simple design, and east to setup. Plenty of space for media inside dispite it’s small size, around 2.2KG with foams in the bottom. It’s a shame the media it comes with isnt of a better quality, however this would most certainly put the price up so I can see why this is the case. It’s also a little noisy, however I currently dont have mine in cabinet so I suspect that once it’s in a cabinet the noise level wont be an issue at all. This filter pump is ideal for a first timer or even a more experienced fish keeper especially if it were to be paired up with the filter booster that houses the foams leaving this filter to be maxed out with media (3.6kg approximately).
After having my first one of these delivered the box was damaged but nothing bad however upon setting the filter up getting it all ready, plugging it in to then hear the racket it made i knew something was wrong. Spoke to all pond solutions sent them a video of the noise for them to tell me the item was faulty and to get a new one. Re ordered one with Amazon (came better packaged) set it all up and it works faultless can’t even hear it working and has great flow rate 5*
We use this for our 190L tank. Our pervious external filter broke on us. We replaced with an internal filter but it wasn’t cut out for the job. In hours the tank was crystal clear with this filter. It’s easy to assemble & instructions are clear. I’ve only put 4 stars because it is a little noisy but for the price I can’t complain really.
This filter has plenty of flow for a 300/400 liter tank. The only part I found to be a very small problem, was the spray bar.
It has a good flow rate, but a lower pressure on the jets, due to the size of the holes. Simple fix just cover some of the holes.
Now pushes the water round the tank.
Other than that easy to set up & easy to restart after a clean.
Worth the money.
On setting up a little disappointed by how little media is included, and a little concerned about the flow rate on hindsight I should have brought the larger model, I have connected it my old canister filter which had more media and all seems fine.
after reading the reviews on this i was a bit sceptical.but i kept an open mind instructions are ok not to hard to understand tells you what media goes in what basket and where it sits in the canister. Priming the pump was a doddle.
i fired it up expecting the worst but was pleasantly suprised its not very noisey to be honest its been running for 24 hrs now and clearing the tank at a steady pace.
its not a Fluval by any stretch of the imagination but it does the job its meant for.
Can’t fit it into my cabinet and the spray bar doesn’t fit straight but they are tank problems not filter problems lol, water doesn’t come out the spray bar as fast as I was expecting but it’s keeping it clean happy overall

My fairly mucky turtle tank 80ltr was clean and clear in 30m.
Noise…a whisper and I haven’t got it enclosed, the water return jets are noisier! (So they’re pointed against the glass for a quiet life!

I’ve bought this a long time ago and had forgot to write a review all this time. It’s still working miracles on my tank to keep it fresh and clean.
I have a custom tank that’s around 2m width, 0.8m height and 0.5m depth, it’s tank which holds a lot of water and a home to 9 gold fish around 20cm size on average. This pump works hard 24/7 to keep the water clean. I never had any issues with it.
It’s already paid for itself. If it breaks, I’ll buy this same one again.
I’ve waited for 2 months before writing my review because I’ve read mixed reviews on this product and was unsure weather or not to buy it, but I did and it’s fantastic,
I was unsure due to mixed reviews on the amount of noise the unit produces, initially I was disappointed but now the unit has had time to settle in I’m very impressed it’s extremely quiet, sure it make a humming noise but it’s no louder than the noise the water make as it sprays back into the tank. The water is very clear and the fish seem very happy in there.
Seems like a really good product so far. Only had it set up a couple of weeks but it works exactly as stated. Practically no noise and comes with simple, easy to follow instructions on how to set up. Would recommend.

So far so good. I read all the reviews on this and decided to go for it, even though some warned me off. Arrived very quickly and unpacked it, all good, it looks ok, (not that looks really matter) I watched an online set up guide, which made it simple. Set it up, cut all the hoses to size, plugged in and all primed, and away it went. It’s very quiet, good flow rate so I’m very impressed (so far)
One small point the 1000EF does NOT come with the surface skimmer head, or the L shaped tube to allow you to position the spray bar along the back of the tanks (that is very disappointing), so I can only use half of the spray bar, as my tank is not deep enough to accommodate both sections of it. Gonna contact Amazon about that, as it kinda states on the page that EF range does come with them.

I would use fine …medium and coarse foam in the bottom tray as the water wasnt as clear without changing that…i also dont use the carbon…it has a good flow and my 160L tank is looking as clear as the first day i set it up…pond guru on you tube gives a great tutorial on filter media for these..

Flow is good, storage for media and is very quiet indeed. Handles bit delicate plastic but just be gentle. For the money, can’t be beaten I’m affraid.

I would buy again. Priming easy, just fill your canister up with tank water just before you put the top I . An inch under the top ofcourse for the depth of top. Two button presses and mine was primed and working.
Great value for money! I have a 100L tank and it works super good, the water is crystal clear and more importantly, it’s very quite I’d recommend this to anyone but as I bought this filter 2 weeks ago I still need to see how it works as it gets older. Overall it’s perfect for my tropical fishes
They are quiet, spray bar is a good size for these 3ft tanks they are on and loads of room in the trays for media.
On a slight downside, there is no foam for the bottom tray so I brought a few sheets from my LFS and placed a 3 layer filter in the bottom tray of foam going from coarse to fine, this of course has changed the flow (which I hoped it would).
Also as I’m using in growouts, spray bars are pointed upwards and towards side wall so little current, and I added a pre-filter sponge (this one in fact Fluval Edge Pre-Filter Sponge ).
There is a lot of room left in the trays out of the box after adding the media (it also has plastic bio-balls, not sure why for this sort of filter but they are in the pack), I packed the trays to full with bio rings (and set aside the balls) and because of the foam filtering on the first tray I have not used the filter floss pads that came with it. Came with charcoal too, straight in the bin, it a pointless media for a filter in everyday use as it does nothing but remove smells and meds and needs replacing almost weekly.
All in all, I think for the price I paid I could not of hoped for better products.
The water in my tank is much clearer all ready and my fish do seem happier.
Good product the only problem I have is the skimmer doesnt fit the pipe so thats a little pointless. Caution for those who want to put it in a small tank like 50 odd litres, beware that the current from the water out bit, will be strong for fish. Put the avaliable attachment on to distribute the the strong flow of current. I injured my lionhead from it :,(
Very good filter but gave four star review due to a sone of the ceramic media coming crushed in the post i tried contacting APS about this and they told me to go through amazon so will give that a try i hope i can get it resolved without having to return the entire unit back as i still need i
Good ext filter. I swapped my internal fluval u4 filter for an external filter and this one is good. Very quiet. It’s bit bulky and the set up instructions are not too helpful but it is self explanatory anyway. Cleaner tank and happier fish and no need to worry too much about filter cleaning and disturbing the fish.
From Dirty to clean in a few hours. I have a 500 Liter tanks used for Aquaponics so I have a lot of fish and this filter really was great. I do not run this constantly as I use the Nitrogen waste to feed my plants but when I want to clean up the tank i just turn this on.

It has been up and running for about 3 weeks now and doing a nice job of keep ing my malawi ciclids happy (a fish that is really sensitive to bad water quality).
Did not use much of supplied filtermedia and set it up according to how many youtube videos suggested and not the manual.
Setup is easy and the manual is not really needed.
Everything you will need is included, but I suggest spending a little extra on getting better filermedia.
The filter is setup about 4 meters from my bedroom door, and with the door closed I can’t hear the filter when in bed so it is not extremely loud, but it is way to loud to want to have it in my bedroom or livingroom close to were I si
two weeks in the filter is working well and is very quiet

Excellent item, at an excellent price, keeps my tank so clear. Easy to clean .. The only thing that let this order down is the fact that it was delivered in the standard manufacturers box with no extra protective packaging, hence to say the item turned up with the box quite badlty damaged, but thankfully the filter inside arrived undamaged ..
This is excellent filter for the price(budget filter)i had fluvial 406 which packed up on me inside a year.i decided to go for this filter after reading reviews on amazon and not wanting to spend to much like i did with my fluvial 406.for the price 65 i decided to give it a try,ive had this for 2 weeks now and water is crystal clear.i had problems with trapped air which was very annoying but then found video on you tube regarding this issue and now no more trapped air.all in all this is a cracking filter and for less than half the price as my last one, excellent value
First off, the price is great considering you get 3 media pads, ceramics, carbon and balls.
Tubes are 1.8M each and the set up is so simple. Genuinely took me less than half an hour to get from opening the box to a working set-up. I have only had it running 24 hours but already there is a better clarity to the water. Really impressive for less than fouty quid!
I love how quiet this filter is. I only installed it yesterday but I am giving it five stars for being so quiet. I realised as I was setting it up, the instructions are slightly vague in places. Be sure to fill the unit up inside level to the basket lid, and fill the green tubes also, once they are attached to the unit, but before you attach them to the tubes which go inside the tank. This will make your set-up much easier! I’m looking forward to introducing my rather large fancy goldfish into their new home. I have this unit running on a 125ltr tank, ans since it’s meant for up to 400ltrs, I’m sure it will do the job. It’s quite robust and I like the external thing…It give more space for the fish!
I have brought two of these, As the first one I sold on with a tank. there was no instructions in the box but was very simple to set up.i use it with a 180 litre tank and the water is crystal clear. vey quiet and so easy to take out into the garden and wash out.
I developed a leak a few days after the first review and it seemed to be the hose adapter. I emailed all pond solutions and they are sending me out a new one free of charge. I cant fault them
Wow what a filter! Did take me an hour to get it all set up but half of that was giving the carbon and ceramic rings media a really good rinse before use. Easy to set up the actual filter and its super quiet! Makes half the noise of the air pump lol. The flow is perfect for my 200l tank. And now my water is crystal clear and my mbuna are super happy. You really do get a huge amount of space for media in this thing. It comes with a full tray of ceramics and carbon. There was however enough space in the bioball section to sqeeze in the media from my old 400xl filter -The whole lot. So that was enough to get it seeded and up to full bio function within 3 days.

This is my first external filter and I’m very pleased with it. My water is crystal clear and my stocking is a little higher than it should be and it’s a marine tank, so for this reason I’m very pleased with it. Also the noise isn’t as noisy as I would expect it to be. I sit about a metre away from my tank and when watching TV I can’t hear the filter, I can only hear it when there is no other noise in the room. The delivery from All Pond Solutions was also very quick. Again, I’m very happy with the speed of the delivery.
So having failed with the big brands I tried this one. Best I’ve had so far. It’s easy to open up to clean and then seals nicely. The priming button is very effective at getting the water moving and the air out. It maintains it’s flow, even when it’s due a clean and it runs silently. They haven’t tried to be clever or fancy and as a result you get a solid and reliable filter.
Supplied with plenty of smooth tubing, which works better than the ribbed stuff which is prone to clogging and a nice mix of media.
Arrived next day well packaged. It’s a big filter and well made. The instructions are a bit brief but there are online videos to show you how to set up if you do a search.
I set up and was immediately impressed by the quality. Also there is a big prime button which works really well and primes up in seconds. All in all up to press a brilliant filter at a great price.

After reading some of previous reviews i was a little bit worried after allready ordering as states no good for turtle tank due to low level water however this is very easily overcome simply detatch all the tubing for the inlet pipe and attatch the part with the cage direct into the tube took some wiggling but works perfectly. I still complete water changes on a bi weekly basis but this is more of a preference i never actually let my tanks get to the point where a change is definatly required. Previous filter that was provided with the tank is still keeping a tank with smaller turtles going but as soon as i have the money i will be buying another one of these as it works perfectly and soooo much cheaper then other external filters i was looking at buying.

What a fantastic product. I have had this filter for a few weeks now and they tank water is crystal clear. The fish are much happier with the water quality now and it is completely down to the product in question.
The build quiality to the product is on power with what I would expect at the price and feels sturdy and secure. I had no issues with building the filter and fitting it to my tank as it comes with many features and fixtures to tailor to the needs of any tank.
Pros;

Cons;
– Pipes require some bending to ensure they are securely in place.

I like the All Pond Solutions 1000EF Aquarium External..because it early to use and quiet. The fast way you can take the hose of is a good idea and will make clear simple the primer button on this real did help me set it up to.did mot like the spray bar or the scimer that came with it so i use my old one but all in all for the price this is a good deal
I keep 3 very messy turtles and I bought this filter to replace a faulty eheim ecco external filter (RRP around 129) and this filter has gotten my tank water clearer than it’s been since I first set it up 3 years ago.
I had an initial problem where I could not get it to take any water from the tank, a quick call to allpond customer services soon sorted this out, they emailed me an FAQ and said to call them back if none of those things worked. It turned out that I just didn’t have the intake tube enough in the water (all joins must be under water) and as my tank is for turtles my tank doesn’t get completely filled as they need basking space. Once I had put all the joins in the water it worked a treat, the priming is much much easier than it was on my previous filter too.
Would definitely recommend this filter.
Easy to assemble and set up had no issues priming 1 push and it was cleared of all air however the prongs on the plug were bent and it wouldn’t fit into the socket so had to manipulate them into place with a pair of pliers doesn’t pump out even half as much stated just enough to give a small ripple on the surface of the water only had it set up 2 hours so far 7 out of 10 for the product I received bent plug and low flow rate bit of a let down but nothing major for the price I paid. Also Fits Nice and snug in a juwel rio 180 without needing to carve away at the plastic flaps in order for it to sit flat so chuffed with that 🙂
Works well but it isn’t as easy to get the water flowing as the product description would suggest. It doesn’t start with a a few simple presses of the pump. I have to pour water down the pipe first to get it going. The filter unit is really simple though and it works well. Overall I am pleased with it and it works well compared to more expensive models
The Filter work well even for tanks nearer the lower size of it’s spec.
The only issues I’ve had was:
a – the manual’s not great so best left to figure it out yourself.
b – the size of the pipework was larger than my tank hood ports (low level plastic type hood) so ended up getting the hole saw to it to fit it in.
Don’t be fooled by other bad reviews, I have been keeping fish since I was a kid and for the price, this product is amazing. Ok, the instructions are a bit wierd due to the translation, but if you don’t know how to put this together, then you should’nt be keeping fish! I found that putting the thick coiled tubes in a bucket of warm water will make them more plyable if you need to twist them round your tank. The set up is so easy and it just does what it is supposed to do. The water is crystal clear and its very very silent. The built in pump primer is fantastic and makes setting it up so easy. You’d be a fool not to buy this item, if i could I would have given it six stars!
The instructions were dire to be honest, but setting these things up is common sense, and boy, did I notice a difference. The filter is whisper quiet, and the water, which was pretty bad, was crystal clear in just about an hour. Why people see the need to pay twice as much for an external filter is beyond me. Save yourself some cash and get one of these, you wont regret it.
