I purchased this heater as a way to support my daughter still being able to see her small group of friends as we were no longer able to have people in the house.
we’ve only used it a couple of times but it’s so far done the job. The biggest worry after getting it was the availability of the actual gas! There seems to be a national shortage of this size of canister and companies were only doing a swap and not letting you buy the canister.
Luckily though we found one!
It did get damaged in a storm even though I moved it to a sheltered corner – it didn’t blow over but the halo was compromised by a constant battering and eventually came off. We’ve not had a proper look at the fix but I’m sure we’ll be able to get it sorted.
It’s not ideal when it’s a bit too windy but on still evenings (and maybe during the day during the winter) it’s so far been ideal.
I don’t know how long a canister of gas will last as it’s not run out yet after using it three times and on all occasions it was for several hours.
It’s sturdy and looks good.
We found that a 13kg canister fits perfectly.
Patio heater not so easy to assemble but good heat when assembled. The recvomended Vorgas heater cover too tight to fi
Easy to set up. Top reflector plate a little small so some heat is lost, however, very good for the price.
It comes in parts which you have to assemble but The instructions were very clear and we had difficulty assembling it. Some people say it’s difficult to remove the protective film from one component but we found it easy. A ladder is required for the final fixing of the top. I also bought a rainproof cover and this is the most tedious job requiring ladders to take it off and to put it on. it’s a super looking piece of garden equipment and I’m delighted with it.

I bought this in plain stainless, very good looking. The only drawback, apart from not being able to get hold of one now and the incredibly girating price, is the bottle holder case which doesn’t open simply on a hinge but you have to lift up and hold while trying to wiggle the 15kg canister in, and then lift up it right to get at the canister again every time you turn on. That is design fault but otherwise good looking, and works very well . I also have electric patio heaters which are much better if less warm and I would strongly recommend a pair of them as better for the environment and easier, and keep this for most freezing
We liked everything about the patio heater. It was a little bit complicated to assemble but with the help of family members, we succeeded in getting it going.
This is a fantastic heater, it chucks out loads of heat and is sturdy and good looking; that plus it is cheaper by far than the nearest competitor with a similar heat output and what more could you want?
Well, the one thing I’d want and the only reason I didn’t give this 5 star is it is a real fiddle to get a Calor Green 13Kg cylinder in. To be fair the instructions say it only takes a smaller size, but it is so close it is frustrating; 2cm more height on the legs and it would have been a breeze.
If you want to fit a 13Kg in then I’ve found you have to remove two bolts, put the cylinder in, then replace the bolts. Not by any means a deal breaker, but with a full cylinder you do have to take care not to trap your fingers …

buy it dont hesitate – well made looks good arrived on time really really cheap but looks and feels exactly the same as one you pay much more for’ Sadly had no coloured ones in stock but this looks nice in chrome.
Great product, only thing I would fault is it took a while to discover it takes patio heater (grey gas) only. This could be more clearly outlined when purchasing.
Lovely and warm sitting near this. My guests are very happy! Quite attractive as well.
Quick and easy to assemble, looks good, heat is excellent.
The 13kg green gas bottle wouldn’t fit no matter how we tried. We have put a 5kg in there for the time being. I think probably 9kg is a nicer fit and will save you the hassle we had with going back and forth the supplier.

It was easy enough to assemble with the instructions also I had no problems with fitting a 13kg green bottle with red top of calor gas (propane), it fitted perfect with the 27mm Push down regulator that came with the heater. I was nearly put off buying this heater because of the reviews about which size gas bottle to get etc..but I’m really glad I bought now.
Assembly is straight forward but the blue plastic stuff they have on the stainless steel components is a faff to get off.
The instructions clearly state that the maximum gas bottle size is 15kg. From Calor the 15kg is exactly the same dimensions as the 13kg. We went for the 13kg Calor Patio Gas as it’s a pretty standard size and we have local suppliers.
Here’s the down side.
The bolts that hold the steel column get in the way of the gas bottle handle. The instructions indicate that you install the bolt from the top and nut from the bottom the extra thread further impedes the bottle handle. We swapped the bolts over so that the nut and therefore extra thread is on the top. This helped slightly. The key design flaw is that the three uprights (the black arms around the glass bottle in the photos) are secured to the base with a bolt through the bracket and into a captive nut in the base plate. The 13kg standard patio gas bottle has to actually sit on these three bolts and there is no other way of getting the bottle in and sat centrally. Because they sit on these bolts this raises the bottle height by 5 to 7mm causing the handle at the top to be impeded (see photos). This means it’s a very very tight fit (seriously watch your fingers!) you can’t easily access the regulator and the on/off valve. You are advised to switch the valve off when not in use. There is no way of taking off the regulator when the bottle is installed. To fit the regulator you have to have the gas bottle propped half way in to the housing. They are quite unwieldy. You can apparently get an 11kg patio bottle but there are no suppliers of this type near me. I think they are FloGas.
All in all a decent product for the money but you will certainly struggle if you want to fit a 13kg gas bottle.
Overall impression is that for the money this is a great heater. It says it’s commercial grade but I would say it was domestic +. The heat output has a good range even on the low setting.

If you’re any doubt about this heater don’t be it does exactly what it says on the tin.. Someone complained about protective bluefilm on parts you have to remove it really wasn’t that bad…. Easy to assemble and use and looks stunning in the garden what more can I say great product and great price
Exceptional value for money. Good quality product. No problem at all with 13kg propane bottle. Can’t understand why some are saying it doesn’t fit. I almost didn’t buy it due to these comments.
Assembly instructions very easy to follow. Heat output better than expected. Most others for sale state kw output so do a conversion to compare this one.
Quality was very good.
The price goes up and down based on demand so keep watch for a few days before you buy
This is a good heater for the price but I’ve deducted a star because of the poor assembly instructions.
So a couple of tips for any future buyers:
Don’t remove the sand box from the base as described in the instructions. It’s a nightmare to refit…and it’s not necessary. Simply remove the plastic cap from the box whilst still fitted to the base and pour in sand.
When assembling the heat deflector don’t start with the central holes as shown. Start with the outer set of holes otherwise it doesn’t work.
11kg Flowgas bottle fits perfectly, however the heater came with a push fit regulator and a screw fit regulator is needed for these bottles so had to buy a new one.
Overall happy with the finished item after a bit of a chew with the assembly.
The heater came well packed and was easy to put together if somewhat time consuming. The biggest issue for most is liable to be the size of the gas bottle. The heater comes with a propane gas regulator which will only fit in my case the green bottles. I can just about get a green metal 13kg propane bottle in but it is a squeeze. The best size would be the 10kg patio gas bottles. Otherwise it looks very good and although only tested briefly threw out plenty of heat.

Great patio heater, big and sturdy and produces a good amount of heat if close enough.
A bit confused with other reviews as we easily slid a 13kg bottle in.
Was fairly straightforward to assemble, although the top section was pretty heavy to support when adding!
I agree with all the comments on the blue protective film, that took longer to remove than the complete assembly.
Really happy with the look, think it is too tall. Due to the fabulous weather have not tried it yet but will update

Great purchase, once the cylinder of gas is in it is very sturdy, great heat off it.
It’s bigger than you’d expect around pub size.
It gives of tremendous heat but as you’d expect it can be adjusted. The centre pipe connection on assembly can be cut down with a suitable saw and the holes for connecting the burner can be drilled. So ideally you can cut a foot off the height.
It looks good and the the construction is rock solid.
On assembly it will take around an hour to put together. The manual is fairly basic but is easy to follow but take care with the screws and bolts in the blister pack as they are not number but referred to as large bolt or small screw Etc.
On a final note it states that you should use a 9 kg lpg (Propane) cylinder. Good luck with that in the UK as they are rarer than hens teeth. The largest cylinder that will fit is a 11 kg Patio cylinder which is better value, so no problems there. On no account try the 13 kg as it is two centimetres too big in height.
There’s not a lot that you can write about a Patio Heater, so I’ll just give you the bare facts.

1. Per the manual you *can* fit a Calor 15kg butane bottle in this. It is tight but you don’t need to loosen screws or anything like that. 15 is heavy but makes the most sense economically and reduced refill trips.
2. It comes with a propane regulator so if you want butane you will need to buy one. The petrol station sold me one for 15 but I’m sure you could get one cheaper online.
3. Use butane not propane (“patio gas” is 100% propane but more expensive). Butane gives out 40% or so more heat when burnt than propane so price wise it is a far better deal and will last a lot longer. No idea why you would use propane in this.
4. Peeling the blue plastic protector off of the reflector pieces takes about 5 min and is nowhere near as bad as some others say. It helps if the metal parts are colder before you do it.

Love it ..came with a kink in the pipe to gas supply but one this was cut off it worked fine ..great heat ..a bargain actually .
Great value for money. Easy to use, great heat. Get a smaller bottle!!! 13kg does NOT fit.
Very good quality and with a little thinking about assembly it will take a 13kg has cylinder.
Not had the opportunity to use it much yet but heat output is good.
Easy to build however I purchased two and it took the best part of 2 hours to remove the blue protective plastic from the reflectors.
Works well, looks nice and and easy to put together on your own. You can get a normal 13kg propane tank in it. It’s tight but at the right angle goes in.
Bigger than I thought, but good all the same. Excellent.
We managed to get this during a price discount!
It’s a fantastic patio heater and we’ve already had our moneys worth!
Brought as a gift for my father. Assembled it for him- easy enough! Fits the generic sized gas bottles. Looks great in the garden and gives decent heat output- he loves it!
Love this, my husband had wanted one for ages so he gave it ot me for my birthday! Works very well, radiuant heat is just perfect.
Have used this many summer nights. It gives off great heat so have been able to sit in the garden until late.
Excellent price. Easy to assemble and the blue film on the parts that alot of the reviews said was a nightmare to get off, my 10 year old daughter took it all off in 5-10 mins. Bought the Havana bronze and it’s basically black in colour. Looks great.
Really good patio heater. Kicks out plenty of heat and uses the gas up much slower than expected which is great.
Works well on the patio. Good heat output. Good value for money.
You need two people to assemble I was on my own when I put it up
This turned out to be great value for money…it was under 80 the day I bought it. It is big but I was expecting that. It gives out heat to a wide area but not as wide as some reviews have mentioned. It was really easy to assemble although getting the protective foil of the top heat shield blades took some time. I haven’t bought a cover for it yet and it’s been out in all the recent August torrential rain and winds, it still looks good as new and it hasn’t blown over. Very pleased with it and enabled us to stay outside much later into the evening than without it (when it hasn’t been raining of course!)
Bought to replace an original which was 14 years old! If you have your own tools/spanners fairly easy to assemble with patience! Looks smart!
I used my original gas regulator to enable me to use 11 kg propane gas canisters which fits in the housing!

No issues at all……does what its supposed to do.easy assemble…good heat output…manoueverable…looks good…v happy with this purchase.and you can fit a gas bottle into the housing with a bit of tinkering.
Great value, quick delivery – highly recommend the product. BUT be warned that there is a lot of assembly required. It was not difficult but quite time consuming – especially removing the plastic film from many of the pieces.
Very good and has made my bbqs much better. Reasonably easy to assemble. It needed two people for the last bit. Started first time and great heat. I also bought the cover for it which fits great and easy to put on and off.
Like other reviewers I would say easy to build, if you can read and follow instructions. You will need sand or water for the base weight, I used stain free play pit. You will also need some small flat washers for the four screws which secure the burner, otherwise the lock washers squeeze into the hole and make tightening and aligning difficult. It does take longer to peal off the blue aluminium protective layer than to build the entire heater! Took the top tip on Homebase (Flo Gas) 88 for 10kg bottle, fits a treat.

Overall a nicely made item, easy to assemble. After some troubleshooting, I found the supplied gas regulator didn’t work (lucky I had another one spare). With a working regulator, it works very well.
Cant fault the heater easy to asemble no problems to recommend the heate
so far so good, works well, pleased with the heat output, and takes the large gas cylinder no prob.
The gas cable was long enough to reach a small propane cylinder so try before purchasing bricks as I did.
The cover seems of excellent quality and I would consider essential. It has survived very strong winds, lashed to the side of the house.

Came well packaged and was very easy to put together with great instructions. 13kg has bottle fitted perfectly and lit very easily and quickly. Puts out a good amount of heat too.
Works as well as more expensive models with same BTU. Easy to roll in and out for the wife. Seems well made. I suggest getting two to avoid everyone sitting in a circle around it.
Perfect, stainless steel is a must to stop the weather so I am glad we paid the extra for it.
The original heater failed at the start of the summer – thermocouple failure I think.
However I contacted Amazon and they were first class at sending out replacement, I got the replacement first allowing me to repackage the original one back in the box for return. Customer service was first class.
Despite the original being faulty, this is still an excellent piece of kit and an added attraction to my garden. Certainly worth having.

I would recommend an 11kg propane gas bottle as the 13kg I got didn’t fit and cost me 12 in lost bottle deposit
The 11kg fits perfect
This heater gives off great heat and is quiet on high or low settings but in between is a bit noisy
Works really well, only a short assembly time.
Perfect for late evening BBQ.
Quick tip when inserting the gas cylinder – Don’t fully tighten the bolts at the base unit that keep the 3 rods up that surround the gas cylinder. Well don’t fully tighten the two on either side. I kept the one in the center tighted at the base but left the other two a bit loose. Then Tighten the top 5 bolts leaving one a little lose because it pretty much won’t fit. (it will make sense when you’re doing it. Otherwise just get a smaller cylinder as the 13kg is boredline too big although it will work….just. Also the regulator (gas switch that connects to the gas cylinder). It clips on easy but to remove it there is a plastic button underneath the regulator switch where if you press it down hard enough it will click and then you can easily remove the regulator. It took me ages to figure that out after i hunted youtube. So other than those nuances it’s really good works a treat and i do recommend it!
Am v happy with quality and price of product / bought the basics cover too which fits perfectly and is v good quality- if you are thinking of getting a heater this is s good choice
Good value for money – bit fiddly to assemble but really pushes out the heat.
Really gray product – easy to assemble and no problems in lighting it. Amazing heat and looks good too.
There are a number of questions that other people have asked about which gas cylinder to use. After some investigation it seems that one that fits perfectly is the ’13kg green patio gas cylinder’ that Calor make. BUT there are actually TWO DIFFERENT SIZES of this! You need to ask the supplier to give you one with the SHORTER regulator attachment. This allows the bottle and regulator to fit perfectly into the base. If you get the one with the LONGER attachment it may be too big and certainly won’t fit easily. This observation probably explains why some people have described the fit as difficult or very tight.
Fantastic value worth every penny. Easy to assemble would recommend highly.
This is an excellent lamp for the money. Instructions are easy and supplied bolt set all laid out well. I did mine outside to give more room. Get your gas bottle before you buy this and it comes with the push on attachment for the bottle not screw in. Get a small pair of step ladders to do the top deflector at the end.
Knowing what all these are like I greased all bolts as they will rust especially the top but be careful as the grease will melt under the high temperatures.
Bit of a faff putting the top shield together But nothing hard. Recommended
I was worried that the heat would simply escape upwards without actually warming everyone below, but I’ve found it warms the patio very effectively. Still a little cool to convince people to come outside but I think when the weather hits around 8 or 9C we’ll be able to enjoy a drink with the heater on. I haven’t used it enough to expend the 20lb cylinder yet, so I’m not sure what the running cost will be.
I’m impressed with the quality and effectiveness of the heater for the low price and hope to use it a lot more as the days get lighter.
Once setup (which was about as easy as I thought, only a couple of small niggles to deal with), it stood nice and tall and once the gas bottle was in the base it was weighty enough for even the strong winds of late to not take it over, I do have it tied up against the wall now just to prevent any sudden gusts taking out my glass patio table though – better to be safe!
Igniting and controlling the unit is a doddle too, I quite like the bronze finish too, goes nice with some of our bronze and copper planters on our decking. Our decking it 3×4 meters square and with this in the middle everyone on the decking was warm. Well accomplished and a great price point for such a unit. Hope it stands the test of time but so far very impressed.
^^ Firstly, this is a heavy piece of kit when delivered, so you are best to make sure you are in when this arrives.
^^ This takes a standard 20-pound (9 kg) LP gas cylinder, but with this reviewer, I had never had one of these heaters before and realised that the gas cylinder required to make it work is not included. Where to source one was a bit of an issue for me. Needless to to say, I found one at the local supermarket.
^^ That aside, putting this together was fairly simple and quick.
^^ The extra addition of the wheels, make moving such a large and heavy item much easier.
^^ Once set up, this stood very tall, and is rather impressive. It is designed for commercial use, and even though I do not want it for anything other then private use, it has a large heat radius of around 5.5 metres (18 feet). So it not only works, it works well. Plenty warm enough for those warmer winter night gatherings, as well as those long, hot summer nights where the sun might be going down and the air cooling, but the party is still in full swing!
^^ I’ve tried to look subjectively at what the negatives are, and cannot think of anything. If that changes over more frequent use, over the warmer months, I will let you know.
^^ Finally, I’ve not used it much yet, as it is March and the weather is not warm enough to really encourage outdoor entertaining. But I have sat out there a few times to test it out and the prospect of entertaining more in the warmer months and being able to stay out longer when it gets cooler, is very exciting. I love entertaining outdoors and this is the perfect accompaniment.
Overall:
I am very happy with this. Partly, because I have always wanted to try one of these, to see if they work just as well as the commercial types you see in pub courtyards – and partly because it does work – better than expected. Don’t let the sound of AmazonBasics, put you off! This commercial patio heater is great for private outdoor entertaining. There is nothing basic about it.
This AmazonBasics heater is well made, reasonably sturdy and features a large 360 heating element with hood. It’s commercial, so I was hoping it would be better than my old Gas heater and thankfully it is. It emits a good amount of heat and whilst it’s still not quite as good as the infrared heater, it’s not far off, and obviously benefits from having 360 heat rather than 110 of the infrared heater.
Overall, I’m happy with this and can easily recommend it.
We’ve not really had the weather here lately for al fresco dining but I couldn’t wait to try this out so set it up outside on the side deck and have had a few nightcaps out there on still nights and all in glorious warmth. It’s pretty easy to set up, particularly if this isn’t your first heater. and took us under an hour, just. The hardest part of it all for us was finding somewhere locally who had the gas bottle in stock. Finally got one at a caravan sales place and although they’re not cheap they do last a good while and the caravan place has a bottle exchange thing for our next one.
Our last heater didn’t look too great by the time we took it to the recycling, due in part to being out in all weathers but also because we mistakenly thought that a cover would help save it from the worst. All it really did was make it easier to get blown over. It’s probably only a good idea to use the covers in the nicer months because with ours it acted like a balloon in blowy weather and we had to tie the whole unit down in the end because the cover made it too unstable.
This new one is going to be kept in the garage in all but the best weathers and just wheeled out when we need it and hopefully it’ll last for years that way and keep looking its best. It’s possible to fill the base with sand to weigh it down and make it more stable but because as ours will be stored when not in use we haven’t tried that. Might give it a go over the summer though when it’s outdoors for longer. The little wheels on the back make it easy to move about so it’s not hard to get it shunted about, regardless of how heavy the whole thing is (which is pretty heavy when the gas bottle is full.)
Very powerful at pumping out the heat and we were still comfortable at a distance of about 10 feet, although on these chilly nights closer is better. Despite the ‘Basics’ tag it’s very stylish and powerful and brilliant value for money at the current price.
On receiving an Amazon basic patio heater I was kind of expecting something that looks a bit cheap but worked ok. In actual fact there is nothing basic about this at all. It’s a very heavy solid construction and actually looks very stylish indeed.
I did need help in putting this together because it is quite big and heavy but maybe a man would be able to do it alone. Once constructed it is very easy to use with extremely simple heat controls.
I did find the gas quite expensive but think it will last quite a while.
The heat from this even on a very cold evening was surprisingly warm for those sitting around it, although of course the minute you turn it off you feel the cold immediately.
This attracted lots of compliments, and I don’t think you would ever think that this was from a basics range.
I think this is a very stylish good quality patio heater and would recommend
All in all a good improvement over the ordinary painted steel version. I hope it lasts a bit longer than its predecessor though. You might take the precaustion of putting some anti-corrosion paint on the nuts and bolts after assembly as they are not stainless steel. You might think a cover would help and it will certainly keep the elements out – however it makes the heater into a giant sail which on windly days will certainly be blown over. Best thing is find it a home for the winter or at least get it inside when Storm Frank is blowing in!
When I saw this Amazon Basics patio heater I really wanted to give it a try. I’ve had Amazon Basics range before but for tech items not for the garden. This is a big patio heater and I suppose the word ‘commercial’ should have tipped me off to that! It takes a little bit of Ariel to get it put together but wedge it is assembled it is a bit of industrial inspired garden art …
Once assembled all you need is a bottle of gas from your local supplier or garage (whichever is handier) and you are ready to sit back and relax in a garden which will be made more comfortable -heat wise- by this patio heater.
I think this will really come into its own when the weather picks up a bit more but there is still a chill in the air. It will be perfect for relaxing by yourself or with the family and excellent for keeping guests warm if you are entertaining outdoors. It is, as I said previously, rather large so be sure you have enough space on your patio for it and also for storage. It would have been great to have had a cover included but there isn’t so I’ll have to start the search for one that’ll fit and provide good protection – now I’ve finally got something to keep my patio warm I want to make sure it is protected from the elements!
