Amazon Basics LED B22 Bayonet Cap Bulb, 14W (equivalent to 100W), Warm White, Dimmable- Pack of 2 [Energy Class F]

Light Colour

Light can have different colour temperatures, indicated in units called Kelvin (K). Bulbs with a low Kelvin value produce a warm, cosier light, while those with a higher Kelvin value produce a cool, more energizing light.

Energy Saving

This AmazonBasics energy-saving bulb conserves energy compared to traditional light sources, helping you to save on your electricity bills and do your part for the environment. The AmazonBasics LED bulb includes an EEI rating of A+ or A++, depending on the model.

Colour Rendering

The colour rendering index (CRI) is used to describe the effect of a light source on colour appearance. Natural outdoor light has a CRI of 100 and is used as the standard of comparison for any other light source. The CRI of AmazonBasics LED light bulbs is always higher than 80, close to the sun’s value, reflecting colours vividly and naturally.

Long-Lasting Performance

Each bulb offers a lifespan of 15,000 hours, which means if it’s used for 3 hours every day, it will last for over 13 years. Spend less time replacing bulbs with AmazonBasics long-lasting LED light bulbs.

I’ve bought a few dimmable LEDs over the last few year to work with the dimmers in the house. These are great. Good light output and will dim reasonably low and more importantly no squeal when doing so. Have bought more and will buy more.

Getting brighter LED lights (100W equivalents) is quite tricky. These do the job well. The light is nice and ‘fresh’ and bright without being weird. I have them in a ceiling pendant and seem to perform like traditional bulbs. It works with the dimmer switch even though the switch is decades old.

A great swap for my old halogen 100 bayonet bulbs.
Works great with the dimmer and no flicker on any setting. On full power they are fantastically bright.

I bought these to replace a pair of 9-year 40W bulbs. Much brighter instead of the warm glow I used to have in my hallway. Amazon Commercial products are really good quality.

Can’t fault the price for these bulbs. They seem well made, good design and as per spec.

I’m not sure if this is a fault or by design but when the dimmer is on very low, the bulbs seem to hum. I don’t think it’s the dimmer switch – one I’ve used before. I can’t test other bulbs as my others are screw in not bayonet type 22.

This Amazon Basics LED light bulb works properly with our existing touch dimmer, no flicker or faint light when off, whilst my purchase of a Megaman LED Light Bulb 142582 Dimmable RichColour R9 GLS Style Classic Opal LED Light Bulb B22 Bayonet 2800K Warm White 13.3W 1055lm A+ Rating 2500, Did Not. There was still light being emitted when switched off. Previously we’d had to use a 150W tungsten or 100+W enclosed halogen.
Will this Amazon Basics LED bulb work OK with your dimmer I cannot say, it does with ours.

OK for outdoor use, who knows? The specifications below the headline says outdoors/indoors, yet reading further down it reads indoors only. Anyway what’s the issue with this bulb being in an enclosure outdoors that’s protected from the rain?

Some negative reviews go back to 2018, those purchased then might not be the same ones that you buy today. This LED bulb has reduced our power requirements to light this bedroom with it’s touch dimmer switch from over 100W to just 13W, and that’s brilliant.

No issues with any noise coming from them like with some and they’re bright.

Upon moving into my new apartment, the previous owners had standard 60w incandescent light bulbs in the bedroom.

I decided to upgrade them to LED but wanted the same colour temperature and brightness as the standard 10w bulb.

Amazon basics bulb seem to be well priced and a direct replacement.

Rated at 9w — equivalent to 60w the amazon basics bulb was a direct plug and play.

Great warm colour temperature and brightness

The dimming capability is ok, there is a noticeable brightness jump from zero brightness to the minimum brightness.

Hopefully the bulb lasts, although its nice to know that amazon’s warranty is there for peace of mind if you needed it replaced.

Another thing to note, it does have a slight delay upon start up.
It is noticeable and might be a concern for some people.

I’ve fitted a few dimmer switches in the past without issue. Fitter 2 to mu new house one worked fine with old bulb , one was flickering badly .I had to google and some saying it was down to bulb, I didn’t think it could be but was wrong – as soon as I fitted this flickering stopped.

    Would happily Recommend these bulbs.

Quality and light colour great (a clean warm white like traditional filament bulbs, no greenish cast like cheaper LEDs).

Silent in operation (take note Philips!!) but the 75w equivalent I bought is much larger than a traditional or even Osram LED bulb, so if this will be a problem with your lampshade or light fixture check measurements first.

I bought the warm white ones, and they’re a nice eye friendly colour – good at night when you don’t want to disturb your circadian rhythm. Plenty bright enough without glaring. I can’t really comment on the energy efficiency or longevity of these bulbs, because we’ve only just started using them. Pleased so far, and I’d buy them again.

These bulbs seem fine. They work with the LED dimmer switch that I use and offer a wide range of brightness levels without any flicker.

There are quite a few reviews of these bulbs where people have experienced problems with limited brightness settings and flickering when using these bulbs with dimmer switches. The only explanation that I can think of is that they are using dimmer switches that haven’t been designed to work with LED bulbs.

I’ve recently redecorated my room and changed the entire layout in order to create a workspace to work from home during the pandemic. I had a large lamp that was clunky and in the way of the room space because of this I decided to get a dimmer switch fitted and needed a new LED dimmable bulb. This was the perfect option, with great reviews, great quality, and also budget-friendly!

On top of all of the above, it was simple to install as well, all I needed to do was place it in the appropriate place, twist it in to secure it and voila it worked right from the get-go.

I could not recommend this product enough to anyone looking for a high-quality and budget-friendly LED dimmable bulb.

These were good value and gave a warm light.

Nice brightness, you can get brighter but as a general bulb used everywhere on balance very good.

We ended up buying two packs they were such a good match to what was needed throughout the house.

The new Lightwave Smart series dimmer switches are fussier about what bulbs will work with them (compared to old Connect series). I was pleased to find that these bulbs work with the new Smart series switches. I had previously ordered some other Amazon bulbs which do not work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B079X9KPRS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These bulbs worked well. Unlike some, they are, as they claim, about as bright as a 100W incandescent bulb and the light is a pleasant tone for a living area. I bought two: they both worked fine out-of-the-box, and have been in use about two months, with no problems
Two of the fittings in which I’m using them are controlled by dimmers, albeit old, mechanical ones rather than modern electronic versions. I had only intended to use them on full power, but in fact they seem to work fine with these dimmers, with the only point of note being that the adjustment seems to be more sensitive — setting them to an exact brightness level takes more care.
I’ve knocked off one star because they seem expensive (13 for 2). However, I’m comparing them to non-dimmables, so that may be unfair.

Very happy with the quality and the price. The bulbs are extremely bright. I’ve deducted a star as when used in a dimmer switch, the bulbs do produce a rather noticeable buzzing noise. These light bulbs certainly are basic. And that’s why they’re cheap. I use them with a dimmer switch which they respond to well, for the most part. However, sometimes they’ll go very dim and quite suddenly, plunging you into near darkness. I’d hate to think you would be doing something that needed light when this happens. Also, they buzz slightly which is annoying when there is no other background noise, like when you are reading a book. But, hey, they’re basic and cheap and so probably worth the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI had a pair of Philips 13W LED bulbs lighting up my living room, and when one of them broke (less than 2 years after purchase), I replaced them with these AmazonBasics 14W ones. The colour of the replacement bulbs is much more like what I would describe “warm white” (the Philips ones had a green tint to the light, the Amazon ones are much yellower), and they are noticeably brighter too — much more so than the 1W of additional power usage would suggest. Very happy with the purchase, definitely would seek out AmazonBasics bulbs again in the future.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWas replacing an LED of 10W and this 14W for the bedroom means I can now read with the main light at its maximum. Only concern is that both bases seem to have substance on them that could be corrosion? Have never noticed on other bulbs but these come in the eco-friendly boxes that means perhaps they’re exposed to the elements more than traditional packaging?
Hoping that doesn’t effect their longevity but seems to be working fine and the dimmable functionality is smooth transition from brightest to dimmest setting.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWow, just replaced the ‘old-skool’ 1st gen eco units, the ones that flicker & ‘warm-up’ before they work properly. The light output is phenomenal, for a lower wattage rating [14 instead of 20], the difference is massive & instant, finally a serious replacement for incandescent, after about 25 years.

I hope the life-span is as good as the fluorescents, I’ll be back if it isn’t…

This is a great combination of powerful but low-energy LED bulbs in a traditional format – very useful for bulbs that are visible in the fitting. The light is very bright and the colour temperature is ideal for a domestic situation. Having changed the whole house to LED I now don’t get too upset if people leave the lights on.

  73. Anonymous says:

Really well packaged bulbs, no way these are going to be broken by the time they get to you that’s for sure!

I have used these in my living-room and bedroom, and there was an immediate difference in the light – although the previous bulbs I was using claimed to be the same wattage they weren’t as bright as these, the light from these Amazon Basics bulbs wasn’t just stronger either but I swear also crisper and it’s made working at night much easier. The light isn’t a ‘cold’ light so doesn’t feel too artificial.

The price is currently at 12.99, these are strong good quality bulbs so although maybe pricier than some others they are still worth the investment – particularly if they live for as long as claimed, whereas my normal bulbs don’t seem to last out a year.

  74. Joan A says:

     United Kingdom 🇬🇧

Over the past few years we have been gradually replacing all of our old bulbs with various brands of energy-saving LEDs. These bulbs are probably the heaviest and biggest that we have had, but not the first to have a large opaque area or dimmable capability. Unlike earlier LEDs, these reach maximum brightness immediately, and run at vastly reduced temperatures compared to the old-style ones. This particular set of two 14W bulbs are classed as warm white, and – when placed in a pendant light fitting without a dimmer switch – were each incredibly bright. When tested in a table lamp fitted with a dimmer switch, there was no audible background hiss that we’ve noticed with one particular make of bulb. Apart from this individual bulb, we haven’t had to replace any of our energy-saving bulbs, so this pack should be very useful – and represents good value.

Sturdy heavy bulbs, that look good quality. Instantly switches on to a very bright warm light- similar to old fashioned lightbulbs, although obviously they are much more energy efficient. Only the top half of the bulb is transparent so they emit a somewhat directional light. These bulbs are dimmable. I’m consistantly impressed with the Amazon Basics range.

This review concerns the AmazonBasics LED B22 Bayonet Cap Bulb, 14W (equivalent to 100W), Warm White, Dimmable- Pack of 2, price at review 12.99.

The ideal modern replacement for a traditional 100W bulb, these ‘Class A+’ bulbs promise a life of 15,000 hours whilst consuming only 14 watts.

Emitting a warm pleasant white light, they also have the advantage that they reach maximum brightness in a matter of seconds unlike earlier variants, an obvious advantage for those quick trips to the bathroom.

Additionally, a feature not found in other similar products is that these are dimmable, so ideal for creating low key moods.

Two basically packed light bulbs at a competitive price.

  79. The Brunette Librarian says:

     United Kingdom 🇬🇧

I wouldn’t normally waste your time reviewing packaging but, judging from the blurb and photo’s above, Amazon are really quite proud of the ‘frustration-free’ packaging this pair of LED bulbs arrive in – but it frustrated me fully. The bulbs’ box alone is overkill, with the bulbs held in place by carefully cut inserts and surrounded by lots of empty space. That box however arrived inside another slightly larger but equally hefty box (sturdier than most Amazon packaging) which served no purpose – and all for two little light bulbs that aren’t even made from glass. Loopy.

The bulbs are also quite sturdy and surprisingly heavy, as heavy as the early versions of those low-energy fluorescent bulbs were and possibly heavy enough to be a problem in some light fittings. For example I used to have an Anglepoise-style desk light that wouldn’t stay up with a bulb as heavy as this in it – though admittedly it shouldn’t be a problem in most lights. These LED bulbs are dimmable, which is unusual for LED’s and maybe that’s what requires the extra electronics that contribute to the overall weight. That might explain why only half the bulb emits light too, the electronics take up the other opaque section, and that also might mean they don’t suit all fittings, it does look a bit odd if the whole bulb is visible.

Despite the nit-picking, these are very bright and effective bulbs that cast a lot of useful task light, certainly bright enough for a central overhead light or a work light. The light colour is pretty close to old-fashioned incandescent bulbs, so if you want to maintain that effect but save lots of money (eventually) then they’re great. They get a bit warm in use but not really hot, you’re unlikely to get a burn from them even after they’ve been on for a while. They also don’t keep you waiting for the light and switch on to full brightness instantly, no mini-delay or warm-up period. I haven’t had them long enough to judge if Amazon’s promised lifespan is accurate but they certainly feel like a well-made item and work perfectly. I haven’t worked out how much you’d have to use them to save enough on your electricity bill to cover the cost of buying them but I’m guessing quite a bit. However I think they’re probably worth the (competitive enough) price just for use in normally inaccessible fittings like outdoor security lights, giving you a super bright bulb you don’t have to climb up ladders to replace every 6 months.

These light bulbs are slightly bigger than normal glass bulbs and seem to be from a toughened plastic type material. They can last up to 13 years. We have one in our dining room and spare room and they give off a good bright glow. They come on instantly, some come on in a second or few,I suppose these type of items progress and get better as these certainly have.

I love LED bulbs. They give a good non flickering light with no “warm up time”. These tow completed my switch for the bayonet caps in my house from the horrid and much hated stick bulbs that flicker and take a while to fully illuminate and also the halogen bulbs I fitted in some roses a few years back which are hot and don’t last well. The bulbs are heavy but are easy to fit – they give a lovely light – comparable to old incandescent bulbs. This set comes well packed in a card holders and a box. they are equivalent to the old 100w and I would say that is accurate. they give off a “warm white” light which is soft and not garish or brutal – no harsh blueness that some eco bulbs give off. I really like how cool they remain as the electrical cord does not yellow (like with halogen or incandescent bulbs) and I feel the coolness also makes the unit safer. The bulbs are around 12 at present which is a competitive price. What’s not to like?

I got these bulbs as I’m trying to slowly move all the bulbs in the house to LED for their energy saving characteristics. These bulbs are much more expensive than halogen bulbs but are much more efficient and last longer so if you can manage the outlay it will save so much over their lifetime. I used these in two fairly dark rooms and I was amazed by how much it changed the appearance of the room compared to a normal halogen bulb in a central pendant light. It was much brighter but also the light seemed to spread more evenly across the room, leaving no dark spots or shadows across the room. I had turned the light on before I changed the bulb so I could compare with this light but the difference was so amazing that it really felt like a different room. I will definitely be buying some more of these for my other rooms.

The colour is close to tunsten but with much better colour rendering. They dim smoothly with one slight jump on a conventional dimmer switch. Instant on with full illumination.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve put these in the garage, one at either end, and they are noticeably brighter than the two they replaced both of which are supposed to be the same power as these two. I found it very difficult to get bulbs that would illuminate such a large dark space, but these are definitely the best I’ve tried. I can’t say anything about the price because Amazon haven’t yet said how much they are, but I’ve always found AmazonBasics to be very good quality at a very reasonable price I have only one issue with them – they are very heavy, possibly twice as heavy as the ones they replaced and two or three times heavier than the old fashioned lightbulb, so your light fitting will need to be in good nick. They give out a good, clear, white light that comes on instantly and being led they use a lot less power. I would be happy to buy them when I need bulbs and would definitely recommend.

These are quite large and heavy, but work really well. I replaced a “cool white” bulb which was ridiculous. My landing looked like a dental surgery. This is far softer. much more like a traditional tungsten bulb.

I got this as a replacement for our previous 75 Watt equivalent bulb and at first it was so much brighter I got quite a shock;however now I’m used to it I’m delighted;it comes on instantly and lights up the whole room beautifully;it’s now a pleasure to step in to the kitchen,it looks so good. These bulbs are extremely easy to fit;they are a standard bayonet fitting. They are described as Amazon Basics, but they seem like superior quality to me;they are supposed to last for 15,000 hours and cost just 2.15 a year to run.
They are designed to be dimmable.but I don’t have a dimmer switch,so can’t report on that;however I can say I’m really pleased with the performance and would definitely recommend them.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese LED (light emitting diode) bulbs are an excellent replacement for the old obsolete incandescent bulbs, which are in the process of being phased out, due to their tendency to convert electricity into heat rather than light. These LED bulbs burn only 14 watts compared with the incandescent 100 watts, yet they are equally as bright. The colour of these LED bulbs is better, emitting a pleasant warm white without any harshness. Altogether the near natural light they produce is much better for the eyes.

A good feature is that they emit light the instant they are switched on, and there is no lag or delay as there is with some types of mini fluorescent tube bulbs. These LED bulbs are almost identical in shape to the old incandescent bulbs, so that they will fit exactly into any table or standard lamp you may already have. The bulbs seem to be well manufactured and I couldn’t find any difference in quality to more expensive LED bulbs. The may be marketed as Amazon Basics, with a lower price, but there is no noticeable lowering of quality. The bottom half of the bulb is made of a strong white plastic which means that only the top half is transparent and allows light to shine through. This results in a bulb which tends to emit light in a forwards direction, rather than 360 degrees as with incandescent bulbs. There is a slight tendency to act as a spot light, however this is not a problem since there is sufficient light emitted in all directions. They are great in reading lamps.

The bulbs are dimmable and therefore adaptable to change in moods. Because they operate on such a low wattage, the bulbs do not get as hot as conventional bulbs and consequently are much safer. The small amount of heat they generate will not cause any fires. The energy class A+ is good, as good as any competitor’s. The lumen rating is 1521 lumens of light emitted, which again is a good rating, as is the colour temperature rating of 2700 Kelvin, which is an industry standard. The 14 watts of power consumed means you can operate just over 7 of these LED bulbs at the same cost as just one conventional bulb great savings.

The individual LED bulbs, at 206 grams, weigh more than conventional incandescent bulbs and you may find them surprisingly sturdy and weighty. The average life of the bulbs is 15 thousand hours which is an incredibly multiple times longer than both incandescent and mini fluorescent tube bulbs. Both the reasonable purchase cost and their low running cost makes these LED bulbs easily the best buy. The bulbs are well packaged by Amazon in a double sturdy cardboard box which is highly protective, easy to open and 100% recyclable.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThese bulbs are absolutely amazing, I was a little hesitant about buying them having read some of the reviews stating that they didn’t produce the same amount of light that incandescent bulbs do. All I can say that I can’t tell any difference between a 100w incandescent and a 10w LED bulb. The light is even and uniform leaving no dark or shadow areas as some bulbs can do all in all a very pleasing light with no loss, apart from the loss of energy used. I am a disabled person who obviously keeps an eye on my budget with energy bills ever increasing It was time to take matters into hand. I changed energy provider and saving 35.00 a month and the addition of these energy saving bulbs I’m certainly looking forward to further energy savings each month. The bulbs have a life of 8 years, even if the only last 12 months for what the bulbs cost you’re still well in pocket. The way I see it I have nothing to lose, everything to gain I highly recommend these bulbs to anyone.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersSuper bright. Super cheap.

What more can I say? I obviously can’t comment on how long they’ll last, but so far I’m impressed. They come ob bright, there’s no flicker and 1 of these is enough to light an average sized room. If anything they’re a little too bright, If I’d known I’d have gone for the next brightness down, make sure you have a lampshade! These have all replaced CFL bulbs rated at 11, to 14 to 20 watts and they beat the crap out of them.

I’ll be buying another pack to replace the rest of the bulbs, the way the remaining cfl bulbs come on dim is just so depressing compared to the instant blinding light of these.
