ANCEL FD500 All System OBD2 Code Reader for Ford Vehicles Diagnose with Oil EPB BMS TPMS TPS PCM TCM KAM Rese
The ANCEL FD500 works on most OBD2 vehicles sold in the EU after 2002 and OBD2 16PIN Ford Group vehicles(Ford, Lincoln, Mercury) after 1996.
Please note:
1. Each car model has different system configurations, the specific reset functions may vary.
2. FD500 supports software updates on WIN 7, 8, 10 devices ONLY (WIN 7 OS needs to install the driver before updating the device).

Battery Test and Registration
Battery test function detects real-time data from 12V batteries to help you monitor your battery status.
Disregarding the need to register and code for a new battery may result in improper charging. FD500 can help you register a new battery once you replace it.
Notes:
1. Not all vehicles need to do the battery reset after changing batteries.
2. If the parameters of the new battery are inconsistent with the old battery or the parameters are too different, registration may fail.
Battery test and recording
TPMS reset and EPB(Electrical Park Brake) Reset
Oil service reset
PCM TCM/KAM clear adaption and TPS Adjustment
Engine System for Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
Reads and clears check engine light codes, both generic and manufacturer-specific, and resets monitor;
I/M Readiness to test misfire, fuel system and Comprehensive component;
Displays live data stream items;
Displays vehicle information via VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).
Transmission System Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
If you notice the following: transmission slipping, rough shifts, delayed engagement, fluid leak or transmission warning, then your car may need to be maintained. You can use FD500 to do a series of diagnostics and pinpoint the problem area for repair.
ABS for Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
When you see the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) light is on, you know it’s serious. FD500 can help. Just use it to identify what has gone wrong by plugging in the unit to your 16-pin port (normally under your steering wheel). You can make a determination what could be the causes of the error: low brake fluid, a blown fuse, or abnormal signals from wheel sensors.
SRS(Airbag) for Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
When the SRS (Safety Restraint System) light is on, it means that the Airbag Control Unit sees an issue in the system. The system is subsequently disabled and the airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident. You can use FD500 to check if there is a malfunction in the SRS system and get it fixed. It is very important that airbags are functioning properly at all times.
TPMS for Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
If the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) light is illuminated, it means your tires could be under inflated, which can lead to undue tire wear and possible tire failure. FD500 can read codes on the TPMS system to identify possible problems including a bad sensor or under inflation and clear them when a solution is found.
SAS for Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
The steering angle sensor (SAS) is a critical part of the ESC system that measures the steering wheel position angle and rate of turn. SAS is very important for the safety of the driver and the passenger alike. When the SAS light is on, you can use FD500 to read error codes. Once a problem is fixed, you can use FD500 to clear the codes.
Fuel Pump System for Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. When a fuel pump completely malfunctions, fuel cannot reach the engine upon ignition. If this happens, the engine will crank and rev but never catch. FD500 can help you diagnose the fuel pump to find out whether there’s a problem. This will save you from replacing unnecessary parts and wasting money.
High Beam Assist & Body Control Module & Instrument Cluster for Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
High-beam assist system, the Body Control Module (BCM) and the Instrument Cluster is so important to driving safety. FD500 can help you diagnose these three systems and tell you the faults in time.

Solid professional quality unit. Has a nice weight and material it is made from feels like a professional quality tool.
Works great for my Ford Explorer. It can scan any car, but has ability to show details specific to the Ford computers.
I used it on a 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum.
Easy to use, works well. Used to put electric park brake into maintenance mode for rear brake service, also reset battery management system after battery replacement. Also read and clear codes.
I have several obd2 scanners but this was the first that would do manufacturer’s specific codes. It worked like magic! I have been chasing a 4wd problem and this thing identified it and it was an easy fix.
There is a lot of dissatisfaction with a number of these devices unable to read Peugeot and Citroen data in particular. I returned a Thinkcar OBD2 THINKOBD 100 because of this problem despite its supposed universal application.
I decided to spend more money on a more advanced model, especially since I had seen a YT video of someone successfully using one on a 307 that was two years older than mine.
It paid off. You can see the two error codes it found. One of them is a fault that was previously found by a garage using a laptop with professional OBD software. The other is the legacy of an earlier problem that a Peugeot dealer told me should only be solved with a new 1,200 turbo. It is clearly much less serious than that.
Anyone owning a PSA Group car would do well to try this OBD. If it doesn’t read your codes, Amazon is great with their returns process.
4 stars out of 5
This code scanner was specifically designed for use with Ford vehicles but will work with other newer models as well. It connected easily for my husband, who was the one using it to scan a code, and the code was easy to decipher. The cord is long enough to make it easy and comfortable to use and my husband didn’t have any connection issues.
This looks to be a durable scanner and the price is right for any at-home mechanic to be able to diagnose their own issues.
Unit is being used on a 2018 motorhome with a ford V10 engine with just over 10,000 miles. Unit identified vehicle without any problem and found the problem without error. I had an engine light on the display that indicated there had been a misfire within the first few hundred revolutions of the engine after starting. I cleared the fault and ran the test several more times without the error occuring. This saved me several hundred dollars if I would have taken it to a shop.
I get so much data from this thing but have no idea what most of it means. Wish that the manual was more informative so I could get the full benefit of this machine.
The ANCEL FD500 is a well-made and versatile All System OBD2 Scanner. This scanner is specifically designed for Ford group vehicles, including Lincoln and Mercury, but it will actually work on any car with 12V cars and trucks made after 1996 that are OBD2 compatible. My first impression is that the scanner is well built and something you’d likely find in a mechanic’s shop. It has a durable body, that should stand up to daily wear and tear. The rubbery body should absorb shocks well and is very grippy so it’s secure to hold. It also has a large, easy-to-read screen and is comfortable to grasp with one hand, while using the other hand for navigation.
Unlike many other OBD2 units, I like that it has a long enough cord to reach my car’s port while sitting in the driver’s seat. The navigation buttons are logically out, are large, and have a quick response time. Using them is probably quicker than a touch screen would be. With this reader I am easily able to read and erase codes, retrieves VIN numbers, read the data stream, do EVAP testing as well as perform battery test functions, and more. All of these functions are well laid out, so using them on the screen is very intuitive. Overall, it’s a robust and versatile tool, especially for Ford vehicle owners. Full marks from me!
This scanner is dead simple to use. The screen is bright, menus are easy to navigate and the output are easy to read and make sense of. I really like that this makes self-diagnosis possible and allows us to make a more informed decision before bringing our vehicles into the mechanic. I like that it is able to clear some codes – I haven’t had to do it myself so I can’t speak to it though.
One thing I really appreciate about this is that the company provides access to software updates to keep this up to date and to iron out bugs.
The review is for the model I received, which is the AD210 model (see image) which a is lower end ODB reader to this listing. Under its own listing it is economically priced when compared to this one in features as it is essentially generic in the functions it offers. The unit I received is a generic ODB reader and does those basic functions very well. It is easy to navigate through the scroll down menus and obtain information on codes as well as to clear them. It plugs in easily into the ODB plug on my 2017 Ford escape. The readout is clear and easy to read.
The unit is well built and does not come with a case.
The ANCEL FD500 All System OBD2 Code Reader for Ford Vehicles Diagnose with Oil EPB BMS TPMS TPS PCM TCM KAM Reset” is easy to use and does everything that we needed it to do. It detects all systems: engine, ABS, airbags, transmission, radio, climate control, instruments, immobilizer. We found it easy to read the fault codes. It also has an EPB brake pad reset. Overall, it is worth getting if you have a later than 1996 OBD II compliant US, European or Asian Ford/ Lincoln or Mercury.
instead of looking up the code this unit tells you what’s wrong and is easy to use
Pity it did not come with a carry case, purchased one for 12.99.
Works perfectly and checked all systems and reset as required.
hard to rate , I disconnected the battery before I received this scanner and it wiped the engine light that was on . Now have to drive and wait for light to come back on to see problem or if there is one . Other than that it seems pretty straight forward , if you have problems figuring out how to use and what things mean just Youtube the scanner and watch videos it helps . Its a nice scanner appearance and feel , recommend buying the case I did , will keep it from getting all bumped up .
This OBDii (On-board diagnostics) scanner is no slouch. I still drive the first car I ever owned, a 2004 Ford Mustang that I bought in high school. It’s been my daily driver since I got it in 2005 and I love it but now that it has over 200,000 miles on it, it requires more maintenance to keep it going. Over the years I’ve learned a lot from working on my car and for a long time I used a bluetooth OBDii that was useful but very basic compared to this one.
This scanner will work for any car that’s OBD2 compatible (which includes all car models sold in the US after 1996) but it has enhanced features specifically for Ford vehicles. For other cars it will still cover the same basic functions that any scanner can, meaning it can read trouble codes. There are some extra goodies for Ford drivers including Steering Angle Assist (very helpful tool when working on suspension, especially when getting the alignment done after replacing parts).
The smog testing tool is a must have, especially if you are like me and drive a high mileage car in California. In recent years the required smog checks have become a bit of a nightmare for me so it’s nice to be able to check for myself and have peace of mind when I go to get it checked.
Quick Review:
So I have a few of these things…a few less sophisticated and one that is better.
It works on pretty much any OBD2 compliant vehicle but shines with Fords.
Note that there are better / cheaper options out there if you do not own a Ford.
However if you own a Ford (and any other make) then this is great. I own 4 vehicles and it works on all 3 makes.
Will do all the basic scans and clears codes on non ford vehicles but is capable of MUCH more with a Ford.
The display is easy to read and it is fairly easy to navigate.
Price is fair as long as you own a Ford and like to do your own diagnosis, repairs, etc.
My Autel scanner can do even more on almost any vehicle but it comes at a price that’s almost 3 times this.
Overall it works well on non fords and really good with them…I have nothing bad to say here whatsoever.
Plugged this in to my ford Fusion and it worked like it should scans codes like it is advertised to do. Nifty little gadget to have around if your a ford person.
I originally have been using my phone with the torque app and a Bluetooth ODBII adapter. While this is convenient, It’s still software and is glichy and in my opinion. Unreliable.
I have a 2015 Ford Explorer. I got this device specifically as its made for Fords. However, it will work on other makes. There is just an extra option on the screen for Fords.
I love the ease of use, the clear options on the screen and for a complete car notice like myself, easy to understand. But yet advanced for those that need it.
It actually comes with a rather decent size manual explaining all the features. Certainly helped me learn the device a little bit.
If you want that professional knowledge prior to going into the mechanic and actually sound like you know something and minimize your chance of getting screwed over, this is a great deal for the cost.
We have an older Ford vehicle and feel that this ANCEL FD700 All System OBD2 Scanner may prevent our getting stranded somewhere (in the winter of course!) or having to deal with a problem on an expensive emergency basis.
It has a good long cord and a very good built. Material allows for a a solid grip. The on screen instructions are quite helpful too.
Scan cycle is helpful to find issues you didn’t suspect. Well made!

I got this for my husband to help me to review as he is always working on our (and friends) vehicles.
He was very impressed with this right out of the box. This is very easy to use and is ready to go without any significant installations or upgrades needed. This plugged right in and the cord is a good length- no bending awkwardly just to read the screen. Within minutes he was able to clear a code in my car using just this reader. The screen is clear and easy to read and is a good size.
One small suggestion that he had was that this should have come with a case for this price and it did not. He’s not quite sure where in his garage he should be storing this as he doesn’t want to damage it.
This is an excellent quality dedicated scanner for ford vehicles. It’s easy to use, feels perfect in the hand and is constructed of durable materials. The display is large and easy to read, the buttons are perfectly placed and responsive, and the menu system is simple and fast to navigate. It works perfectly to scan for and reset fault codes; Simply plug in the exceptionally long cord into a Ford IDB socket, turn on the scanner, then select OBDII to start scanning. It will quickly return any fault codes, then the fault codes can be cleared. It’s a perfect companion for any ford vehicle, knowing what errors you vehicle is returning is a valuable piece of information to have when taking your vehicle in for work, or to do the work yourself. Overall, it’s an excellent product that works perfectly and is exactly as described.
Works great! Plugged it straight into our F150 and it diagnosed two issues right off the bat. Just like the mechanics in most garages use. It took a minute for me to get to the port (bottom right of the steering wheel for me.) But it plugged right in without issue and immediately started to read.
Just remember to bring a pen out with you to write the codes down because you’ll have to look those up online.
It’s a bit expensive which isn’t surprising for what it is. I’m no mechanic so I still have to bring the truck in for service.
I have a Toyota and this worked fine on my vehicle.
Easy to use, plug in and follow the menus on the screen.
Buttons and screen were easy to see and get the info I wanted.
I am sure if it was on a Ford vehicle you would be able to see even more specific information.
Does its job to help you resolve those annoying flashing light issues.
I do like the handheld scanner. It is robust and capable. I find the layout of the buttons as well as the menu system easy to use and navigate. The onboard software works well with a 2015 SuperDuty. It resets DTC’s and has monitoring functions that make it more advanced than cheaper models that aren’t Ford specific. It does however fall behind in the over $100 price category for OBD2 scanners when it competes with wireless versions than sync up with your smart device. The manufacture’s website ANCEL is glitchy and doesn’t allow you to download and update the firmware and software easily. I haven’t been able to successful do so on an iMac running the latest Mac OS. I have a wireless scanner that cost less than this one and it is controlled with your own app of choosing. It allows you to look up the trouble codes on the internet and do research real time. It is also updated and maintains a current live database. If Ancel’s website and updating process was better then I think this would be a 5 star rating for Ford owner’s. As it is however it still needs work. Looks like a new product offering as of Sept 2020. I would check out Ancel’s website and see for yourself how well it is working before purchasing any of their scanners. Otherwise seems like a good product.
One thing I really appreciate about this is that the company provides access to software updates to keep this up to date and to iron out bugs.
For households with mixed vehicles, this OBD2 reader will work with baseline functionality with almost all modern vehicles but there’s much cheaper options if you do not need the Ford specific functionality.
This scanner is dead simple to use. The screen is bright, menus are easy to navigate and the output are easy to read and make sense of. I really like that this makes self-diagnosis possible and allows us to make a more informed decision before bringing our vehicles into the mechanic and arming ourselves with some knowledge so we are not swindled.
Not a cheap unit but it does seem pretty nice overall. especially if you have a ford (enhanced functionality for ford for this model but will work with all OBDII vehicles)
For the price I would like to see the error code database be a little more complete. WELL built unit with a serious rubber casing designed to be put to work. I appreciate that. really needs a case/bag to store it in. its an expensive tool in a harsh environment.
has a few nice extra testing/diagnostic functions. reads and clears codes no problem. you can also plug this into a PC and Download data from the unit. that is a nice feature to have if you want more than just checking and clearing codes.
We’ve been looking to get a ford and thought this scanner was a great idea. I tested it out on a friends truck and it seemed to work well.
The screen is large enough and easy to read and navigate. We were able to find out a lot of information about their truck, including
1. TPMS reset and EGR Reset
2. Battery registration
3. Injector Coding(IQA)
4. Electrical Park Brake(EPB) reset
5. Reset PCM KAM
6. Throttle Position Sensor(TPS) reset
7. ABS Service Bleed and Oil service reset
8. Steering Angle Sensor(SAS) calibration
9. Diesel Particulate Filter(DPF) Regeneration
10. Fuel Injection Pump Learn
11. Basic functions for Ford Group Vehicles Diagnosis
12. Engine System Diagnosis
13. SRS(Airbag) Diagnosis
14. ABS Diagnosis and TPMS Diagnosis
15. Transmission System Diagnosis
16. SAS Diagnosis & ESP System Diagnosis
17. Battery System Diagnosis and Battery Test Function
18. Immobilizer System Diagnosis & Fuel Pump Diagnosis
It’s great to know what’s wrong before going into the mechanic and then trying to up sell you on things you don’t need, it also gives you peace of mind.
I’ve never used another scanner before but I’m happy with how this one works.
I like to think of myself as a shade tree mechanic and I have tried different ways of reading and resetting car engine codes over the years, including the old stick a paper clip in it trick. There is no substitute for an actual car scanner and if you like to tinker or are a serious car mechanic, it is a necessity.
This scanner far exceeded my expectations. Plug it in to your automobiles OBD port and the unit will turn on and after a few seconds you will be presented a screen with a few options – OBDII, Oil Reset, EPB Reset and more. If you want to read your vehicles error codes, select OBDII and it will start to scan your vehicle for the appropriate mode. Pro tip, turn the ignition to on for this step, not the engine, just the ignition – if you don’t it will continue to search for your mode, as pictured above.
After you read your codes, there is a reset option which allows you to easily clear your codes and reset your vehicles check engine light. I have tried this scanner in several vehicles so far and have not experienced a single issue.
There are a lot of pros for this scanner – The full screen color display, large buttons that are easy to use and are placed where you would expect them to be, ease of use, speed, live data streams, ability to capture data and the list goes on and on.
I could not find any negatives with this product though if you are looking for a con, the written instructions are not exactly precise, though if you are looking to purchase this product I would assume you know what this is for and how to use it. Also, this is an OBDII scanner so if your vehicle is pre 1996, it will not work and would require an OBD scanner.
This is a basic OBD2 scanner that will work on most gasoline powered vehicles manufactured after 1996. I bought this scanner to replace my generic OBD2 scanner because of the special functions it has for Ford Vehicles and because the firmware is upgradeable. My previous scanner worked great on my small fleet of Ford Econoline vans but it couldn’t be upgraded and was missing some diagnostic features for the new Ford Transit Vans we now home.
in addition to the regular OBD2 scanner functions some of the special Ford functions on this scanner include Reseting TPMS, Battery Registration, ABS Service Bleed, EPB Maintenance, SAS Calibration, Restting the EGR plus more.
The LCD screen is easy to read and navigate and the connector cable is long enough so I can sit in the seat and connect the cable to the ODB port.
Overall I’m very happy with this scanner. My only complaint is that you have to use a Windows PC computer to update the firmware.
If you have a Ford Vehicle and are looking for a ODB2 scanner specifically made for your vehicles this is the one to get.
Simple, easy to use and connect device for inspecting and clearing engine codes. The unit is well constructed – study, with large and easy to press buttons that don’t feel cheap. While easy to follow the onscreen menus and prompts, it does come with a manual in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. The cord is long enough to plug in and use comfortably while in the driver’s seat.
No issues using this on 2010 Ford Fusion, which has a recurring check engine light code for a small emissions leak. I was able to reset the light following the onscreen prompts to erase the code.
Wow, I’ve just started to scratch the surface with this. I did not own an OBD2 reader before and I’ve seen a lot of them around for about half of what this one is. But I decided I’d go for this one instead because at some point, you get what you pay for. Just looking at all the options in the menu is enough to clue me in to the fact that there is a LOT more here than the cheapo code readers have to offer.
I am a Ford guy, so I bought the Ford model. I’ve already used it to check my buddies truck and found both his left and right banks were running lean. I went to look further into the ‘why’ of it, but he had to go and hasn’t been by after. I have a Ford diesel F250 and it connects and reads just fine. I have no codes issued right now so nothing to diagnose at the moment. But this will do the ‘normal’ OBD2 functions for any modern era car. So it doesn’t matter if it is a Hyundai, BMW, Ford or Buick. You can read and clear the codes for pretty much anything.
I come from a family that believes in the ford company and we have always owned fords. There have been the times when we had to get something else because it just had to be. This obdII reader has settings that are for the Ford vehicles and also some lesser settings for non Ford. As soon as I plugged this into my 1999 Taurus wagon this reader lit up and could tell me anything about my car. I brought it over to my dads house to plug it into his ranger and once again it could tell me everything I needed to know about it. I even plugged it into my bosses 2012? Charger and it gave me the info I needed for it. Now of course not as much info as on the aforementioned fords, but good info none the less. Unlike other obdII readers I have seen in the past this can plug into your computer or laptop to get current updates. I am very excited about having this in my tool chest.
This scanner sets the bar for OBD scanners. I am impressed and surprised by features that I have not seen on more expensive units like ABS bleeding and EGR diagnostics.
It is also noteworthy that the build quality is topnotch and solid. The cord is long enough to sit in the seat and read codes and even lean back a little. The menu system is easy to read and button large and functional.
I did have to download some firmware but it was super easy, fast and user friendly. This is a plus, as you know, the company offers continued support.
A great tool for anyone with on OBD 6 or 11 vehicles.
I highly recommend it.
This is a very neat code scanner. It’s small and portable fits right in to the obd port. It has many different functions. If you have a Ford vehicle it allows you to monitor all the sensors, engine diagnostics, spark plugs, abs, fuel consumption battery status and many more. It also works on other vehicles as well. It reads the codes if your car has any. Once you get a code you can search it online and it will tell you what it is. Sometimes just by erasing the code your car may be fixed. This is a great tool to have. It will help you diagnose the problem you car may have or what’s causing it. Some repair shops might say what ever they want to charge you more for a service. With this scanner you can know if the problem is what they are saying it is. Works perfectly. Just plug it in and follow the steps. Has a bright lcd screen that allows you to see it even with direct sunlight. Excellent little device. My friend is a mechanic and he has a bigger scanner made by the same brand that he uses in his shop. He said it’s a good brand. Every house should have one of these.
This is a nice unit which specializes in Ford vehicles. I tested on my 14 Ford Fusion titanium.
Once you plug it into the ECU, obd2 port, the unit powers up using the vehicles power.
The scanner can automatically tell you everything about your vehicle, or you can manually input information.
There are many options, but the most important one is scanning codes! I dont have any engine codes currently, but it will tell you what possible causes and solutions are for fixing your vehicle.
Some places charge to scan your vehicle, even if you can’t fix it yourself, you can gather the codes and take them to the mechanic. You can literally fix your own car using this scanner though, I have ones like these and I haven’t had to have a “professional” fix my car since.
This ANCEL All system scanner for Ford vehicles has features not readily available in other more economical ODB readers. It can do fairly in depth diagnosis specific to the Ford vehicles while at the same time obtain basic ODB reading from other vehicles. I tested it on a Sonata and was able to reset one of the error codes. On my Ford it does far more than what I normally need but it is much better to be able to see what there is in the diagnostics before seeing a mechanic to be prepared. I had rolled up a window in my Ford the past that was obstructed but never new that it was recorded as a malfunction. I was able to clear that code with no issue. I also ran the battery check on both my vehicles. I like it in that is shows the starting voltage as well as when you start the engine followed by the voltage while it is running.
The run of the mill Bluetooth ODB readers are good enough for average diagnostics. This reader takes it a few levels higher in standards and ease of use. The screen is easy to read and the unit is easy to operate with the built in keyboard.
I bought a high dollar OB2 scanner for my car(s). I needed it for my 99 Honda civic and 01 Mustang Cobra. After I got it I found out that it doesn’t work on a Ford. I wasn’t happy about this fact lol. I seen this one and it had a good price so I got it. Hooked it up to my mustang and it works like a charm. It told me 3 obd2 codes that I’m throwing on it.
It even listed the ABS and Airbag codes that I need to fix. I really like how simple this scanner is to use. You literally plug it in, type in the information about your car(just pick what features you have) it has a auto feature if you don’t know what things your car has.
Its made for Ford obd2 vehicles but it will do other obd cars which are 96 and up vehicles. You can hook it up to your computer and see what codes your vehicle was throwing and then look up what the codes mean.
It’s a color display and like I said earlier it’s really simple to you. Basically plug it to the obd2 port, type in the vehicle information and push some buttons. That’s all they are to it.
This is definitely a tool you need if you have a 96 and newer Ford.
The ANCEL FD700 All System OBD2 Scanner for Ford Vehicles Automotive Code Reader Diagnostic Scan Tool is specifically made for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury late model vehicles. I tested my 2012 Lincoln Navigator and was able to reset my vehicle’s learned systems as well as clear and reset any DTC, SRS, ABS codes.
This is a professional level diagnostic scanning tool specifically designed for my vehicle. If I need to–down the road–I can calibrate Oil, TPMS, IQA, EPB, BMS, DPF, Regen EGR or I can also perform a comprehensive all system diagnostic of the ABS, Transmission, SAS, ESP, TPMS or other systems.
To be honest, I am experiencing a real learning curve with this scanner so if you are not an ASE Certified Technician or experienced mechanic you will be well advised to do your homework when purchasing this scanner. On the other hand, there is a fairly exhaustive user manual included with this tool and I am presently learning how best to use this device.
This is a top quality scanner which has and will help me to maintain my vehicle. One really nice feature is that I was able to download my computers codes, systems evaluation data on to my PC in order to do further research on any potential fail codes or problems that may come up. I recommend this product as a serious scanner tool for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury OBD 2 compliant vehicles.
It is geared towards Fords. It will work some basic features on other vehicle types. Some of the features it has can be pricey on other code readers. Checks systems much quicker than a blur driver. Seems to be well made. My husband works on cars as a past time and not for a living.
Perfect scanner used it for my Honda Pilot easy to use has update cable. Made vary well.
This is a great code reader. This allows me to do so much. I was able to check the voltage on my wife’s Ford Edge. I was also able to use this to reset her oil change. I did a scan with this and it came up with no problem which of course my light isn’t on so I wasn’t expecting anything to show up. I was also able to do an evap test which the car passed which was good. I haven’t tried this on any other car because it plainly says it’s mainly for Ford vehicles. I highly recommend this code reader. It’s well worth the price. The reader also comes with a thick book explaining in detail how to use the tool. Again this is a great code reader and I highly recommend.
This thing is pretty awesome. I got this for my wife’s 2017 ford focus, which until recently, I was using a bluetooth obdII connector and one of the many apps that are out there. Most of those would only let you read and erase the basic codes, not the abs, srs etc. So not only does it allow you to read specialized codes, it let’s you erase them after you’ve fixed the problem and dont have to take it to a stealership. The special functions part of it is an added bonus, depending on you’re vehicle. My wife focus is the basic model so it doesnt have a lot of bells and whistles, which also doesnt have many special features/functions via this scanner, but that’s not the scanners fault. If you are wanting to be able to check your own codes like transmission, ecu, airbag system abs system and/or want to or need to monitor the data from your car live, I highly recommend this obdII scanner. It doesnt feel cheap or that it’s going to break easily either. Now I just need to get one specific to dodge rams and I’ll be all set for both of our vehicles lol
I am very happy with this scanner. Not only does it scan the basic OBD systems of any 16-Pin OBD2
compliant vehicle, but it also scans many additional systems of the Ford family of vehicles (Ford, Lincoln,
Mercury).
The scanner is compact, yet has a large easy-to-read display and large buttons. The scanner is encased in a removable non-slip rubber case, which helps in holding the scanner securely and should also prevent damage if dropped. The connecting cord is adequate at 34″ long, but it would be a great improvement if it were a little longer, to make it more convenient for a passenger to monitor the scanner during a test drive.
The scanner comes with a lifetime update program. To download the updates, you must register on Ancel’s website. It would be nice if they allowed consumers to download the updates without needing to create an account. To perform an update, you download the files, connect the scanner to your PC with the included USB data cord, and launch the update file.
I used the scanner on both my Ford and Dodge vehicles. On the Dodge, the scanner was able to scan the basic OBD systems that all readers can access, and was also able to do a battery/charge system analysis. Using it on the Ford, it was able to access all of the main systems in addition to the basic OBD systems.
The scanner will scan all systems at once, or an individual system. Running it on all systems will identify
any problems, which can then be viewed. If further analysis is needed, then you can do a scan of the specific
system. Drilling down deeper, you can analyze the data stream that makes up the data for that specific
system. The scanner will operate while the vehicle is being driven so that you can analyze a system in
real-time. There is also a battery/charge system test that is useful in identifying if the battery or alternator is
at fault for a low battery.
The device itself is made well and seems pretty tough and feels like it can be kicked around a toolbox without much concern. The screen is large and easy to read, though I found that for use outdoors it could be brighter as it does look a little washed out even when viewing inside the cabin half under the steering column. It’s not a touch screen, but the menus are easily enough navigated using the physical buttons and everything is pretty much self explanatory in getting around the UI and using all of the features.
The main reason to get this is if you have a Ford-made vehicle and want to utilize some of the Ford specific features of the scanner like the EPB service mode/reset, service nag reset etc. but you’re probably wondering if it can also replace the need for a dedicated OBDII scanner as well. My opinion is … not really, depending on how basic your needs are. It supports a huge number of protocols, I highly doubt you’ll find a car it can’t scan at some basic level, but compared to dedicated OBDII readers especially anywhere near this price bracket it is lacking a lot of advanced features. For example, if it supports any kind of graphing out sensor data either real time or recorded I could not figure out how to do it and there isn’t any mention of it in the manual either.
It doesn’t come with any kind of storage case/bag, which is a bit of a bummer, but not really out of the ordinary. There aren’t any bits and pieces that can be lost from it (apart from the USB cable, but it’s a standard micro USB and we all have hundreds of those littering our living spaces by now anyway), so not a big deal.
Big plus here is that Ancel seems to support the device with after production/after sales software updates. You can download the updater from their web site (which unfortunately requires you create an account before they allow you to access anything…) and using a PC and the USB connection easily update the device. There was an update to apply to the one I received and the process was quick, smooth and problem free… and a breath of fresh air as a lot of these devices never receive any fixes from their manufacturers after production and are simply abandoned even if there are known bugs.
Excellent OBDII scanner. Troubleshoot errors just like the pros. Reset and check all codes. Update to latest firmware using included USB cable. Heavy duty construction with rubber case. It’s advertised as working on all models post 1996, and I found that to be true. Tried it out on my 2015 Ford Fusion and it worked like a charm. Very easy to use. Great for doing your own repairs or keeping your mechanic honest.
Lets get the dislikes out of the way, note they are all around the vendors website. Registering for an account is a pain with multiple website error messages (although my login did eventually work) but I was never able to successfully register my device with serial number. That said, I was able to download the latest version of firmware/software for this scanner device and perform a firmware update on the FD700 itself using a Windows 10 laptop (took ~5 mins to complete). It takes being a bit tech savvy to figure out how to install the device driver for the scanner to then plug it in via USB cable to get Windows to see the device and then be able to run the UPDATE.EXE utility to update the firmware.
As far as the FD700 scanner itself, this is one solid built device. The screen is decent quality resolution to easily read when inside the car, the exterior body has a grippe rubberized coating that should protect it well. The cord is just long enough to get to the ODBC connector when in the drivers seat. The screens are very logically laid out and the navigation buttons are easy to use to move around the screen options (note: no touch screen here). My Ford vehicle has a bunch of upgrade features and the scanner seemed to detect and report on them all (trailer brake controller, electronic parking brake, hill decent, etc.) This device lets you do basic maintenance resets for oil change interval, reset the electronic parking brake, ETC reset, transmission learning reset, etc.
Overall, if you are a Ford owner and do some vehicle maintenance on your own, I easily see this tool being part of your garage tools collection to make the work easier to complete! The scanner itself I would rate 5/5, the vendor’s website and support take that down 1 star (hopefully they work out the website bugs around registering a new account and registering your new device).
