Great looking and feeling jacket, only downside is that you need to order a size up. I’m usually a medium in Berghaus and most clothes but although this fit me it was quite fitted and once base layers or jumpers are thrown in it becomes a bit tight, swapped for a large and it’s spot on.
For this review it is worth remembering this is meant to be a tighter fitting, tailored cut jacket.
I’m 6ft 1 and 14 stone, slim build with long arms and size Large fits me well. It is a snug fit but incredibly comfortable.
Jacket looks great, is shower proof (tested) and very light, so great to roll up and chuck in a bag.
Only gripe I have is sometimes the feathers make their way out of the seams – eventually it will be empty!
I have a happy 15 year old! (And I’m happy because he’ll now wear a coat that he’s not embarrassed in!)
I purchased this item on the “try before you buy” scheme.
Before trying the jacket on, I was 90% sure I wouldn’t be keeping the jacket( I have so many jackets ).
The jacket is lightweight, comfortable and warm. It looks great and for the price – a bargain.
The colour is lovely the fit is perfect the price is good great coat well worth the money
Took this on a trip to the states and love it.
Keeps me nicely warm without sweating and rolls up to be packed away nicely.
Minor complaint is that some of the down will come out of the stitching, ideally there would be some covers under the seams, however with an otherwise perfect jacket this is a very minor negative point.
This is the sh!t but raincoat probably best in a down poor, get the correct size for you.. As I believe it will stretch enough to get another top under it, even tho not needed. I have been out with just a t-shirt on , its just the start of winter tho but has been icy with a good wind chill and I was like what wind.. What cold.. I may even move to a different country so I can wear it all year round
I liked the slim fit but it may not suit everyone. I am tall(6’2″) and fairly slim (certainly not skinny though) and needed the XL. Product seems to be doing what the manufacturers claim so far.
I really liked this Berghaus Mens Trepha jacket, it’s warm and comfortable and a good price against other premium brands.
The problem I have with it is the sizing. I found this to be quite small. I ordered a large as I usually do but it felt more like a medium so I have had to return it.
It’s very eye catching. The only downfall of this jacket to many feathers come out, but that’s not necessary. I wore this jacket on my birthday. Again I’d definitely recommend 100%.
Great fit & quality – very light but very warm the perfect jacke
Bought for my son, item is very comfortable and fits nice. My son loves i
Love this jacket very lightweight and warm nice and comfortable to wear went out Saturday to do a wainwright weather not nice but the jacket kept me nice and warm defo recommend
This is very lightweight but also warm – it’s “only” 600 fill rated but also has some sort of heat reflecting witchcraft which I don’t understand.
It is fitted better than comparable products.
If you are going out in HEAVY rain I would recommend an outer waterproof layer.
This is a cracking jacket – I’m pleased I bought it.
The jacket is a great layer, it’s fantastic value, comfortable and a great fi
Superb jacket, I’ve been looking for some time at a jacket like this, so many models in the market place but prices can be on the high side from competitors like Haglofs, Arc’teryx etc.
This jacket is light weight very warm and packed with technology features to make the jacket more functional. All this and a really good price on Amazon, no brainer !
I live in New York. It’s not for winter more like fall and sprint jacket. Color is nice and quality of fabric is above average. Only drawback is some time it bleeds down.
I’ve purchased two of these Jackets now. Really nice fit, warm and comfortable. It’s not a jacket you’d wear in extreme weathers, but for a casual day out when it’s colder or drizzly, it’s perfect.
Incredible fit and style. Extremely comfy and lightweight, feels so good to put on. Would easily be 5 star were it not for the fact that feathers do tend to come out of the seams which is pretty visible on a black jacket so have to frequently clear up. Also the material is slightly thin/weak in my opinion e.g. a brief brush past a bush of nettles and you could end up with small holes. But like I said, the jacket has a superb design and fit and overall I’m very happy with it. Very warm although not winter proof.
Material will tear if it catches on something. Fit is a little strange. I ordered two sizes and I’m between both. The arms on both are long and quite wide. I’m a muscular build too. Waste is tight but chest has room. (I understand that’s the fit of it but my chest inst classed as small) It’s also very thin and the feathers are already finding their way through on first casual wear. So taking into account how thin the jacket is there’s likely going to be not much left inside in about 6 months I’m guessing.
The concept of it is still quite good. I just think it hasn’t been put in place correctly. Saying all those negatives I’ve still decided to keep one of them.
all round decent coat, would be better with more pocket space.
I love this coat. Stylish and fits well, but go one size up. Warm and lightweight.
I know others have said it but the amount of feathers this coat loses is unreal. It also starts to look unsightly at the seams if you dont get rid of them.
This is such a great jacket. Amazing quality, very versatile so can be worn winter but also in summer on a cool evening with a tea shirt. Stylish, practical, and good value for money. Definitely use the size guide.
Beautiful coat the pictures don’t do it justice I love the 2 fabrics mixed together! Looking at the design it can’t be 100% waterproof due to the mixture of fabrics, but it does turn heads everywhere you go, it keeps you nice and warm as well the coat can be warm on a warm day with it unzipped.
Great fit, very snug. I was right on the edge of the medium and large sizes. Medium is a nice fit without it being uncomfortable.
It’s a warm jacket without a layer. Excellent with an jersey or fleece.
Perfect jacket for hiking with the added bonus of being made with ethically sourced down.
Forget the north face, go Berghaus.
Beautiful jacket, like weight land warm and looks great. I normally wear a large but got medium and fits just fine, very slimming. Only problem is it sheds feathers a lot. Forever brushing them off. I won’t buy a feather down jacket agai
This jacket is a perfect mix of kind of no weight (for a winter jacket), perfect fit (slim fit style, but not too tight) and it is easy to wash (did it already a few times).
Bought it for my boyfriend who is not used to winter temperatures, and he likes it like crazy.
Son loves it and saved bit money on prices elsewhere
I was sent the wrong size, which really worked in my favour as I only chose the XXL because it was so cheap. I was sent a XL, which fits way way better. I have not taken it hiking yet as it literally just arrived (i am sitting in it now), but it seems to be authentic and it is light, it fits really well and is nice and warm.
I deal for layering over other garments works even when wet compact easy to roll up stretch fit panels down sides and inner arms perfec
Bought for someone, they like it. They seem to wear it most of the day. So it must be comfortable and warm.
I’ve been a fan of Berghaus kit for years and have always found it to be of top quality design and manufacture. This extremely lightweight and cleverly designed cold weather jacket is no exception. Another piece of brilliant Berghaus kit!
Lightweight and relatively water repellent.
I wear this to the shops as its a great lightweight jacket and is pretty versatile (i can wear it with jeans and joggies)
Keeps me toasty under my waterproof when i am up climbing munroes.
Written 2 months after purchase and have not noticed more feathers leaving this jacket in comparison to others i have owned
Gracias!
This was for my 14 year old son and he loves it. Warm, stylish and great fit.
Light weight very warm and stylish, love my new jacke
I normally wear a medium and this fits well around the middle, slightly long arms but not too bad
Very comfortable and warm, I like the way the hood is tigh
Been a big Berghaus fan for over 20 years, and was very pleased to get t his on sale, for just 85 or so. Good piece of kit, but be aware it’s a SLIM-FIT!. I’m usually a Large (Berghaus in particular), but had to go up a size (XL) with this, as the L was just a little too snug!.
Enjoy!.

Fantastic fit – more space in shoulders & chest than S size in other brands such as The North Face.
Love the colour & look – and perfect for wearing during outdoor tennis in the Scottish winter thanks to the ‘stretch’ fabric. Warm too – and showerproof and stylish.
A great jacket!!!
Men’s Tephra Stretch Reflect Down Jacket.
This is a lovely jacket made by berghaus. It’s a mans jacket so my husband has been testing this and he loves it, but there has been an issue with feathers coming out from the seams, we have pulled out that was hung out at least a dozen, that was at the beginning of first wearing, but now a couple of weeks on there is more starting to come out the seams, at this rate there will be none left to keep warm!
Apart from the one issue it’s a fantastic jacket that fits my husband perfectly as you can see from the pics.
Its lightweight and warm , it has two zipped pockets and one inner pocket which is good for your phone, my husband Carrie’s his phone in this inside pocket.
It’s a smart looking jacket and the side stretch panels are a good idea for movement.
This really is a brilliant jacket just spoilt by the leakage of feathers! Hence 4 stars due to this.
Got this my son as a Christmas present…Although we had a mess up with delivery & it didn’t come until the 29th of December my son is really happy & its a beautiful coat well worth the money ( &the wait)
Xmas pressy for son he likes it very much fits nice and it is lightweight but warm
Lovely jacket really nice feel and warm. In colder conditions you may need an additional fleece too. One small issue is that sometimes the feathers do poke out from the fabric which you can either push in or pull out but it is minor and not worth worrying about.
Fits perfectly, looks so nice on body, very light but super warm also very comfortable.
This is definitely great quality jacket, details are worked to perfection, jacket seems expensive, material is so soft and nice. I can say only positives about this item and I would fully recommend
This is a lovely jacket. It is a stretch jacket and slightly fitted — this is a large size and my son is normally a medium, but this fits him perfectly. It is worth keeping that in mind, if you like your jacket a little roomier; in which case, it might be worth buying a size up.
Other than that minor point, this is really soft and comfortable. My son has folded it up into a backpack and it unfolds, looking perfect, as well as being extremely light to carry. The side pockets are zipped and there is also an inside, zipped pocket. The hood stays up — unlike those on many coats — even when we went out in strong winds. He finds it very warm, comfortable and light to wear and it has quickly become a favourite.
Purchased for my teenage son who wears it everyday and loves it! It’s warm and lightweight which is what I was looking for.

When a small, very lightweight box arrived, I was not expecting the Berghaus Down Jacket to be inside. The jacket is of very thin quality with a partial nylon lining for the front and just the padded quilting at the back. The material holding the down is very thin and I was careful not to hang or wear the coat where the cats might come into contact with it as I am sure their claws would easily tear at the quilt. The Hydrodown filling certainly holds the body heat but I haven’t worn the jacket out in the rain as yet. The stretch fleece panels at the side and arms ensure a comfortable fit.
I am 6 ft 2 ins tall, 40-42 ins chest and 34-36 ins waist and the jacket in large size fitted me perfectly. Because it is so lightweight, the jacket was comfortable to wear, zipping up high under the chin to protect the neck from cold and with a hood, without drawstrings but elasticated, which pulls comfortably over the head. There are two side zipped pockets which are very deep and an inside zipped pocket on the left.
For a stylish look, I found wearing the jacket partially zipped up at the front and with a white tee-shirt underneath received some approving looks from friends. Overall, I was pleased with the jacket but still worry about the thin material snagging easily if caught on something unexpectedly. However, the garment is guaranteed during its lifetime and there is a web address to contact to express any concerns.
… is not a hit!!
My son takes a Medium in all tops, but the Large came up small on him. If he’d been wearing a jumper, this would have been a little tight to do up. As it was with just a t-shirt on, it closed and there was a little bit of breathing space, so if you want to layer up, I’d say go one size bigger.
The coat is feather light and not overly padded, so it doesn’t make you look big – in fact, the ‘cinched in at the waist’ look is slimming, but tbh, more like a cut that’s styled for women, which my son commented on and didn’t at all like. Length is just about mid-bottom, so it doesn’t cover as much as expected. It’s specified that it’s a stretch item, though, so perhaps it’s meant to be really fitted? The hood isn’t detachable, which put my son off, but if it’s cold and windy, the design of the hood will protect your ears and mouth and your vision won’t be encumbered like with larger hoods. Pockets on this are excellent – there’s one inside at breast level that’s deep enough for a phone and wallet, and the side pockets (all pockets have great zips) are long enough and wide enough for water bottles, umbrella, etc. – that’s really impressive (but again, more for a woman, maybe, unless you’re out hiking?)
It is certainly showerproof, but I think that prolonged use in the rain, despite the claims about keeping you warm for up to 16hrs when wet, might mean that you do get uncomfortable – as it was, on the parts not covered by clothing, my son did get a bit sweaty. The DWR coating – Durable Waterproof Repellency – will eventually wear away with normal use and will need to be reapplied – see below). It is windproof – you do feel the coat flattening against you, but there’s no feel of biting wind getting through. Deep inside the jacket (i.e. not visible), there’s some kind of silver tech that reflects your body heat back to you, which is a great part of the design, but which causes the sweaty feeling, I suspect.
The sides and underside of the arms are made of a stretch jersey-like fabric (Berghaus call this ‘fleece’, but I wouldn’t agree – it looks like jersey on the outside, but the inner is non-towelling fleece-like fabric) in a contrasting colour, which spoils the look (I got it in black with a muddy green fabric). The jacket is 100% polyamide, with the lining being the same, and the panels 95% polyester and 5% Elastane. The inner insulation is 100% down (80% down and 20% duck feather), which bunches when wet, so care is needed during washing and drying.
Washing is, frankly, overly complicated: the jacket can be machine washed by itself at up to 30 degrees, but you cannot use any kind of bio detergent or fabric conditioner as these will damage the properties of the coat. You need to use a gentle cycle and slow spin, but the coat can be line dried (with frequent shaking to disperse clumps of down, I’ve learned, from washing and drying a similar coat) or tumble dried (with tennis balls) on a low heat. After the initial wash and low spin, you need to run multiple spin cycles, increasing them in speed to remove more water. If after several washes you notice that water is no longer beading on the coat, it needs to be treated with a product called Nikwax TX Direct, which has to be applied post-wash, on clean items, in a washing machine on cool wash and slow spin, and upon drying, the water-repellent properties will be replenished. Right now there’s no smell of down to the coat, but if this occurs during wet-weather wear or washing, I will update the review.
The coat comes with a lifetime guarantee (Berghaus will review all product returns and assess them individually based on their usage. If a genuine fault or defect is found in your item that shouldn’t be there based on normal use, then they will repair or replace it for free– no questions asked). According to a table on the website, you should get on average 4 years’ use from this.
My son didn’t like the look of the coat, despite agreeing that it was light, easy to carry and store, because of the cinched-in waist and the non-detachable hood. Based on the tech behind this, compared to similar brands, I think the coat is worth around 75.
I was surprised, given how light this jacket is, how warm it is with just a t-shirt underneath.
I am somewhere between L – XL so it is a snug but comfortable fit. The stretchy side panels are excellent and overall I am more than happy. The only gripe I would have is that while you could survive a light shower of rain in this jacket, you won’t get away with being caught in a downpour. Showerproof definitely, waterproof – absolutely not.
But still a great looking, and feeling, jacket.
When it comes to outdoor wear, some brands seemed to have pushed to the front in terms of their popularity and quality. Think North Face, or, in the case of this jacket, Berghaus. Being the owner of two dogs, I need outdoor wear for their walks – it needs to have a modicum of versatility, because weather can be so unpredicatable – the old ‘four seasons in one day’ – so outdoor clothing needs to be warm, but breathable, and because I have to move about a bit – to pick up the dogs’ ball, or other ‘matter’ that a dog will leave in their wake – it also needs to be flexible, so a good fit is essential. Pleased to say that this jacket covers those bases nicely, although it’s more showerproof than totally waterproof. It also has a bit of stylistic elan, too, the jacket looking as good as a style item as a practical garment. It’s pleasantly lightweight, which I like, and I think it’ll be great in those periods when the weather is changing from really cold to more temperate climes. Not the cheapest, but a very smart item, good fit (size L), and well worthy of your consideration.
Fabulous jacket! This can be worn with a thin top underneath yet still leave you feeling toasty warm.
The jacket is so lightweight that it’s hard to believe that it is so durable. The style is very flattering the sizing spot on and looks good. What more can be asked of a perfect jacket. Practical design warm and worth the price from Berghaus
This is described as a winter walking coat but it is so light and comfortable you could easily use it in spring and autumn too. It offers good wind and rain protection as well as the warmth of down but it doesn’t feel hot and stuffy, even wearing it around the house.
The sizing is smaller than I expected. I am 38 chest 34 waist and the L fits me perfectly – except the sleeves are quite a lot longer than my normal-length arms. Fortunately they bunch up to the correct length on their own volition so I only noticed this the first time I put them on.
The relatively tight sizing means you won’t wear it on top of a lot of layers. It is definitely a walking coat, not a standing-around-in-the-cold coat. Overall a quality piece of kit that will go nicely in your suitcase.
Really nice jacket, light and warm in cold weather. A little on the big size, I’d usually wear a medium, but overall very happy
Very light. Well made. Looks smart.
Had to send mine back though as it is a very slim fi
Recently revived wrong colour berghaus tephra jacket not happy sending back for replaceme
My son is delighted with this purchase. It is a beautiful lightweight jacket and fits perfectly.
I bought this jacket and I believed it was to be blackout but it came with a red line down the middle which is fine for me. But straight away feathers were coming out and the stitching clearly isnt the best.
Quality ,, comfort ,, and this years edition in black .. very smart in my opinion delivery was only 3 days cant complai
Jacket fits very well (slim fit so be careful). It has suitable pockets. So far it has kept me warm although not tested below 5c yet. Also not test in damp/wet conditions.
Love my jacket
Delivered promptly and well packaged
No complaints..
I originally bought this to go up Mount Kilimanjaro. It was quite a cold trip and I found the jacket to be very warm even though it’s quite thin. I wore it on the way up and for the final ascent day (along with a base layer and rugby jersey) and found it to be adequate. I now wear it out and about and for walking the dog and it’s suitably warm.
Had two of these coats a great fit light and comfortable
My Son loves the jacket its never off him back, looks good and nice and warm.
This is an attractive lightweight padded down jacket in a dark charcoal colour. It features stretchable fabric inserts that also add a nice detail to the design. The large size was a good fit (as expected) for my dad. The design is a fitted style, including the hood. The zips are smooth and the seams are high quality, as to be expected from this brand. My dad found it comfortable, snug and smart, but not great for the coldest of our weather – for him it’s a spring jacket (anything below about 9 degrees, this coat is a no), so I’m not sure how that fits into to the promise of keeping you warmer. But my dad is in his 60s and gets cold easily, it might be different for others.
I got this jacket to keep warm in cold conditions without having to wear a heavy big jacket it works really well and keeps things cosy (especially with a warm jumper). The inside of the sleeves can get a bit drafty as can the sides of the waist but this is balanced out but the fact that reduces the amount you sweat when doing activities. The pockets are large and the sleeves are long as is the area back of the jacket which covers your butt when you sit down.
I found it a little bit annoying that some of the down can put through the seams, it seems that every time I pick the jacket up there are a couple of bits of down poking through. I hope that over time the jacket doesn’t lose some of its effectiveness because of this. It’s not a very good jacket for water resistance and the water doesn’t bead off so I wouldn’t recommend in wet conditions beyond a light rain shower, it would be best to match with an impermeable outer shell. I’m not a huge fan of the rustling noise the jacket makes my arms move but this is a very OCD point.
Great product and delivered on time. Would go one size up from your normal size option.
I bought this for my son who as at university. He absolutely loved it. It is lightweight and has kept him lovely and warm even on the coldest mornings when he is out and about on his bike. It is breathable too which helps regulate his temperature. It is not too bulky and looks really smart. Brilliant!
I’m 5′ 11″ slim build and Medium size was the idea fit for me. The stretchy side panels makes the jacket fit perfectly and is flexible enough so you don’t have to worry about ripping it. The pockets have zips so phones and keys are secured.
To be honest, this style of jacket is not one I wear often.
However, thought I’d give it a try. It’s not the most stylish, but actually it’s pretty functional. It’s very lightweight, but keeps you surprisingly warm. I have winter coats which are far warmer, but this is definitely a good one to throw in your bag if you aren’t sure what a day outdoors is going to throw at you.
Recommended!
Really snug fitting jacket.. Nice and warm and great colour. Couldn’t have fitted me any better .. Looks the part.
This is a top of the line Berghaus jacket, make no mistake about it. While it’s expensive, what you are getting is a really high quality piece of clothing made of top of the line materials and technology to give an overall excellent experience.
It is super light, which would make you worry it won’t keep you warm, you’d be wrong. The Hydrodown and Reflect technologies work perfectly to keep you snug as a bug, even in rainy conditions.
It is has multiple pockets on the outside, and a decent sized inside one as well, so no issues around having carry space. It is also really attractive, using different types of material and paneling, with the cut of the jacket almost feeling “tailored” so that it fits around your body. Overall effect is very nice.
Excellent product, highly recommended.
You get maximum warmth without the bulk. The jacket is crazy lightweight but really really warm. As in winter dog-walking in Scotland warm.
Its so lightweight you could easily stuff it in a backpack without bulk.
The pockets are placed perfectly to keep her hands warm.
Its a high quality jacket that you would expect from Berghaus.
Toasty toasty warm
This Berghaus Tetra jacket is great quality and I like its slim fitting, athletic style. There’s room around the chest but it is a tighter fit around the stomach area compared to my other Jackets (Vaude Sesvenna [2017] & Millet Mana [2018]). The arms are also slim fitting which I like – I’ve never been a fan of baggy arms – They’re perfect in terms of length too. Also, the tighter fit makes it easier to add more insulating layers along with a waterproof out layer without bulking up too much.
The majority of the outer fabric of this jacket is Pertex Quantum which is soft, breathable, windproof and water-resistant – It is NOT Waterproof! The arms and sides of the jacket feature lovely and soft fleece lined polyester fabric panels, providing enough flex so you don’t feel too restricted. The jacket would probably be even more water resistant (and perhaps a bit warmer) without these panels as these offer no protection from water at all but I like the panels for the extra stretch and freedom of movement. The cuffs also feature soft polyester making them very comfortable around the wrist.
Insulation comes in the form of Hydrodown with an 80%/20% duck/feather fill, treated with Nikwax to keep it resistant to water and retain its warmth when wet. The seams on this jacket are not taped nor are they ultrasonic bonded, so water will get through to the down in heavy downpours. I’ve only tested it in short showers and drizzle, and it performs fine. The fill power of this jacket is good at 600 and ensures the down clusters are good quality. It’s worth pointing out that Fill Power alone should not be used as a primary indicator of warmth. “Fill weight” is equally important and it seems surprising that many manufacturers don’t specify it, including Berghaus. As an example, my Kathmandu Epiq Hooded V2 jacket is 550FP, with 190 grams of down fill and 620 grams overall – It is much warmer than this Berghaus (@ 500 grams overall). This isn’t to say this Berghaus isn’t warm but testing it at 4 degrees with just a t-shirt underneath, it needs another layer, whereas my Kathmandu doesn’t. This is warm enough for temperatures hovering around 7-8 degrees, maybe a bit lower if you’re active. Anything towards freezing, you’ll need to add layers. As a mid-layer jacket, this is perfect. I visited Lapland last Christmas where the temperature went down to -17 and I chose to use the Vaude Sesvenna Jacket which is similar to this in weight (except it uses 60g/m of Primaloft). I used that along with a couple of merino baselayers and had the brilliant, life saving “Montane Black Ice 2.0” as my outer layer (it’s dry snow over there so you don’t need waterproof jackets) – I never once felt the cold.
To conclude, this will be one of my go-to jackets to be worn on its own for the milder winter days and as a mid-layer for the colder ones. It’s versatile, lightweight, warm, very easy to layer and superb quality. I would also recommend the other jackets I have mentioned in this review.
This turned out to be a tiny bit too tight for my partner which I’m secretly glad about because it means I’m getting to use it instead.
It’s (obviously) a high quality, well-made coat but it’s surprisingly lightweight, not in the slightest bit bulky yet really retains your body heat and within 5 mins of putting it on and feeling really cold, I’m already feeling toasty. It has a nice hood, one of those little hooded flaps that covers the zip at the neck to stop it irritating your neck, two nice deep pockets st the sides for your hands, and an inner zipped pocket on the left side for keys, money, etc
This jacket is so light that I thought I had been sent an empty box!
Down filling is definitely one of the warmest and this certainly feels really cosy to wear. It is quilted but because it is down filled it is not at all bulky and looks pretty neat. There are stretchy inserts in the sides and underarm areas.
The fabric is breathable and showerproof (not rainproof) and claims to keep the wearer 20% warmer. It is also windproof (although we have not been able to test this so far). Please not that the Large size is actually quite a snug fit so it may be wise to consider a size up from your usual one.
A robust high quality jacket that should give years of service.
It’s been great to see the evolution of ‘down’ jackets over the years (I’ve owned quite a few!)
In the past, it might’ve been easy to think that ‘more’ material, would be better, but on a personal note I would find that larger, bulkier, jackets were just impractical for being able to really be ‘active’ then out and about.
I really like this Berghaus ‘Tephra’ jacket, as it immediately strikes me as a great balance between warmth, efficiency and (lack of) bulk.
‘Core’ areas, at the sides of the torso and under-arm have stretch / thermal panelling, rather than the down and shell. This make it more comfortable, a little lighter and makes for easier movement (less bulk gathering under the arms); but the main body of the jacket has consistent, pocketed, down; which is warming and, again, not cumbersome.
The outer shell is also innovative, with coating(s) that are designed to ‘trap and bounce’ more warm back with your body (a feature which allows it to be a lighter jacket, whilst also being efficient).
The ‘long tail’ is always welcome, to keep the small of your back warm while out and mean that your own ‘tail’ is cover, even if you’re seated.
All seams are snug / neatly fitted and the ‘hood’ provides a really ‘snug’ wrap around.
The only point of caution to anyone would be, to check on the fit. That might seem obvious, but I know that some like a jacket to be a little larger, so that they can fit a jumper / jersey underneath.
Personally, I tend to just have a thinner (‘technical layer’) layer underneath (probably worth a note that, at the time of writing and with temperatures dropped down to single digits, I’m more than ‘toastie’ warm, if I were to put a merino layer under the jacket).
It certainly comes up as a ‘true’ fit (neat), with not a lot of stretch (other than at the waist band and cuffs), so make sure that you check chest size to get a great fit.
This is now my ‘go to’ jacket for walking the dog, as I love the lightness and versatility that it’s giving me, over my bulkier jacket.
This is stylish and nicely cut, though on the slim side so you might want to size up. It feels very light but traps and holds warmth so insulates well in cold weather. It withstands some rain but not a downpour. The sleek outline means its at home in the city and looks urban-smart as well as practical. Very nice.
Perhaps more for the younger male who is thinnish. It seems to me it is made more for the thinner male. It is a quality jacket. It is very well made and stylish. It is light yet very warm and comfortable. It is showerproof as opposed to being waterproof. My son in his late teens is very pleased with it. Lovely jacket.
I can typically take a large or extra large and this Large is a little long in the arms and tight around my hips.
It is light weight, 2 x side zipped pockets and another one inside.
No tie cord on the hood but it has a stretch strip to help keep it on your head.
Lightweight but nice and cosy. Looks good and feels good. Slim fitting. Good winter coat that doesn’t drag you down. Showerproof but not waterproof but apparently designed to keep you warm even when wet. Yes I will be wearing it this winter.
Finally a stylish down jacket. It’s nicely designed to give a slim and flattering look , and although it feels lightweight it certainly keeps me warm .
It has nice elastic details on the side panels which fit snuggly to your body and help prevent the marshmallow man effect from ghostbusters , that down jackets usually give me. This for me is one of its main selling points, it’s the kind of smart winter jacket that you would see 007 in for a winter scene but not overly kind if you have a bit of a middle age spread .
It has a nice wipeable , and smooth appearance where rain run s off from , but like most jackets it is showerproof rather than rain proof .It is also really easy to pack , as it is so lightweight, so perfect for trips away or walking /camping . but I would watch your sizing as I had to take an extra size up .as it is a bit neatly made .
Overall I’m very impressed by the quality, warmth and versatility in that I can wear it for outdoor walks or just for everyday wear. Plus is looks very stylish .
