So I’ve held off writing a review for a while so we could properly test it first.
Let just say it’s amazing! We have hard floors through and use this daily, so quick and easy, floors are immaculate, suction is amazing, completely replaced our Henry hoover and shark steam mop! Amazing, amazing, amazing
I have only briefly used to quickly test. It is light weight, easy to assemble, self explanatory instructions, it also comes with floor cleaning solution and a stand to keep it on when not in use. Seems to do exactly what it says, clean my wooden floor with no issues and no streaking, if used properly. Really happy with this purchase as I bought it as I am disabled, I find anything too heavy quite cumbersome, I can finally throw away the hoover, mop and bucket as this does everything in one go.
Came across this product in USA when on holiday and was impressed at how clean it got both tiled floor and messy carpet. Purchased when we got home with hope that our tiled kitchen floor would come up looking as good as it does after bucket and mop. It did. So tried it on badly soiled carpet area in hallway where everyone comes in with shoes on. Really, really pleased with the results. OK then went a bit mad doing downstairs loo which has come up like new, a couple of marks on sitting room carpet and lots of marks on dining room carpet, courtesy of our exuberant grandson, bless him, and all gone. The only down side is how quickly the dirty water fills up and a bit depressing at learning how much dirt it found. Will use it more frequently to keep everywhere nice and presentable.
Easy to use. The detergent water flew out uncontrollable when I used with filled up the full tank. The cleaner is quite heavy when I have to bring it the upstair bedroom.
Really useful for large tiled areas. It cleans and vacuums well. Stands on its own. It’s not really light weight though. Doesn’t need charging very frequently
I’ve bought so many floor cleaners over the years, endless steamers, last one was an air glide (returned after a year), I’ve used the Bissell a few times and I really hope it stays this good, I will edit this if it goes down hill. I have 5 French bulldogs and two kids so the floors get dirty, this thing cleans really well and the floors are dry within minutes (5 mins tops), the water it sucks back up into the waste tank is dark brown. Battery lasts well, I do the lounge, kitchen and hallway (the dog sleeping zone) and barely use one third of the battery. Cleaning the machine is easy. It’s a lot of money but I have no regrets so far. I don’t really use it as a vacuum, we have a battery Dyson and robot vacuum but the vacuum aspect is certainly a bonus.
Go for it.
I don’t normally write reviews but I felt I needed to after using this product for the first time. I have lino wood look floors in my kitchen which has small grooves in. It’s incredibly difficult to keep clean with a traditional mop and bucket as the mop just moves the dirty water around, ultimately drying in the grooves. Our GSD also loves to dig in the garden and bring in her muddy paws. I thought I would never see our original floor colour again. This product fixed it on the first go! It cleaned the whole floor in about 15 minutes. Spotless! The deep clean button on the handle really tackled the dried in mud. Do not be put off if you feel it takes too long to clean because it is a time saver in the long run. Take your time going backwards and forwards and allow the bristles to do their magic. Just be careful not to overfill the dirty water tank as the water does squirt onto the clean floor. Really easy to clean and manoeuvre about the home. The rug setting isn’t too bad either and doesn’t leave them soaking wet.
However it doesn’t quite reach the edges of the kitchen so I did need to go round with a small mop to get those bits.
With that said, the time I have saved getting this product is life changing!
You can also use other cleaning products, just make sure it’s really diluted.
BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Sorry, it’s a long review, but trying to capture everything that I hope will help someone..
Like all Bissell machines now, they are not made to work fully, or last. Long gone are top quality machines& customer services&companies that care.
This machine is amazing, brilliant& game changer, love it. It’s quick easy to use& light. It takes away the stresses&pain frustration , time consumption of mopping.
I don’t understand the reviews that say it’s useless, hard to use etc etc.. It’s so not, if you have used a carpet cleaner, then you don’t need instructions on how to use.. Even if not you don’t really tbf! It is incredibly simple, really easy to use.
If you are logically inclined person, then you won’t need instructions. Trust me qualifications are not needed or strength!!
You simply push it forward, giving squeeze of button under handle, too get the roller wet & then pull it back to suck it up. It’s something you just do subconsciously&work out self when to press button&speed to pull back on ,etc etc etc.
You don’t need to keep pushing the button for solution as the roller, will be wet with it for a long time.
Due to the machine&you, not pushing, dispensing out to much solution, the floor isn’t soaking wet, like it is with mopping (even dry mopping).Plus, the empty bin should take a long time to fill up, that means needing emptied (now here is the problem, fault& when it doesn’t works part, further down review).
The end result is floor, isn’t soaked like a mop, but same time it doesn’t completely dry the floor but more than enough, it’s ample. It is dry in seconds, where mop forever compared.
No rinsing mops every 5seconds, as someone commented on reviews this pushed dirty water around???eh ? No it doesn’t, it sucks the dirty water up immediately. A mop pushes dirty water around, that is why a floor, that is mopped is never clean. With this your floor is clean like new flooring again, wow!
It’s really fast&I find it therapeutic, it’s like painting (art)with a roller brush. It Gets extremely close to corners and sides. (Why I chose this 1 as the other older models, couldn’t achieve this as well).
It’s quiet that’s important,as I have severely ill people at home, noise intolerance. Even pets are not bothered about this&stay on bed whilst I clean around them.
The Bissell solution is fantastic, I don’t have a problem with the price,as it’s worth it,it lasts a long time, works well smells nice. Plus free litre bottle, with machine, that lasted me ages. The clean bin ,I fill up once week roughly, I use daily& more than once, fair size rooms.
It cleans itself that’s cool, though you will have to unwrap stubborn hair from it’s roller, that’s easy unclip front, take off the hair or remove roller to do simple. The only thing you will need to clean is the drip tray, no problem, cloth ,tissue, spray cleaning thing or anti bacterial wipe. Fast easy job.
My floors have never been so clean& long gone are the dreaded, miserable ,time consuming, cleaning times with mop. Mop floor, wash mop, wash floor, wash mop ,wash floor, wash mop , still only done 1 section of floor, much more to go.etc etc etc. Where Lots, lots,& lots water used, just to end up with a really wet floor & still it’s dirty.. drives you insane.
I use this several times a day, it’s easy and pain free, no more trying to clean up area first, that pain vacuum just so can mop,or getting rid bits that are wet in something first just awful. Now it’s grab clean all done.
It works on mats and low pile carpets, it’s not a carpet cleaner, but I have used it to rid dirt. Battery lasts well, though I guess like all batterys will start to lose its life. Plus amount times it’s on charge ,I don’t think that’s good for the battery.
However! Now for the bad part, my first machine. Few days into ownership, started out blue 1 day, to stop dispensing the solution onto the roller& I tried everything, watched videos& the bissell ones, it didn’t make a difference, but after ages&tears, I finally got it to work, just a blip I thought.
But then not long after that, it started sounding the red empty bin alarm. The bin was not full, no matter what I did it wouldn’t stop. I ended up buying new roller&filter, thinking crikey! This machine is going to be so expensive to run, as just few weeks old and needing new filter roller. However!
This made no difference,I couldn’t work it out, I cleaned it all, was all dry..I let it’s battery run down put back on charge, then everything perfect. Put it on it worked hooray, then it screamed empty bin.
Really ,really upset me,worked at it for days trying to get it to work& bissell are extremely hopeless & depending who you get are rude.
But I’m used to bissell as my carpet cleaner is exact same, constant repairs, every few weeks, instead replacing, patch jobs, They are a nightmare.
BISSELL Customer service, basically told me, that it must have a fault with the sensor, but that it must be me not putting the bin on properly????.arghh!! I’m not stupid been using it daily, putting a bin on simples& yes it clicked into place, even got her to hear that.
Then she said you can, but do you want to send it to us to repair?in a what the heck attitude, question& don’t even do, but guess thats what you want to do then tone . Then she said Send it back to seller get new machine.
If Bissell take they will have for how long?for it to come back, claimed by bissell no faults, with it’s original working new bits removed& old broken ones added on, as they did each time, to my carpet cleaner, with the exact same fault there& now new ones added to the mix.
Seller was the best option. So, I reached out to seller& they replaced. As, How am I going to live without this machine?? as you can see how much difference this crosswave makes already in weeks, can’t live without it.
So new machine, thought all good, must just had a dodgy machine before.
But then a week later guess what?? The empty me!! but I’m not at all full, and going to keep shouting this even though you have emptied me, and checked everything& everything clean on properly etc etc etc. alarm Started.
I Could cried, but it started to work again.. Praying everytime use, it’s been behaving longer than the last machine, we have made it over the month timeframe, but now it’s started this again..works then starts the alarm.
I think it’s the suction? As I’m watching it sucking up then it stops and then the alarm sounds. I don’t think its to do with the sensor personally. I’m scared to use it now, and when do I’m frightened to move, waiting for the dreaded alarm, trying to clean essential bits first while working before stops. Yes hard floor, doing everything right.
And I can’t be the only person with this problem, someone on here when I asked, made it sound like I was rough with the machine, therefore I did it..I can reassure you I am not& I haven’t.
I have been Using machines for countless years, I can reassure you I’m pretty apt & capable.
And the others that dont have this problem, lucky you, but that does not mean that this or other faults, aren’t real problems, happening through no faults of the owners suffering& made to feel worse by others, when asking for advice help, by accusing owners of doing,or mine is fine therefore it must be you or lying.
End day, if I want this I would ask Bissell, as No point going to bissell , you get all the don’t care attitude of them&stupid procedures we all know done and not the problem.
I hope this helps ,I can’t be without it, just hope this& other problem gets addressed. Like other Bissell machines, I end up buying 2, just for when 1 is in repair, so have one working to tie me over, but shouldn’t have to do this.. But this the new era, throw away greed society of industries.
Thank you x
Fantastic product if you want to see how dirty the floor actually is, every time it’s used the water picked up is greyish black ???
I really like this machine. I have Lino in my kitchen and laminate in my front room. It cleans laminate 10/10. Lino needs more work (more going over on harder stains) as it has some texture, so takes longer, but the end result is great. I think battery life could be improved but it’s enough time to clean my large kitchen and front room before the roll gets too dirty (depends obviously how dirty the floor is) mine was pretty bad. I got this machine instead of having to vacuum and then steam clean and I’m very happy with it. The cleaning of the machine after using it isn’t bad at all, it’s easy and fairly quick. I would recommend this machine and will be cleaning my floors more often than before 🙂
This is my 3rd Bissell prodcut. Very happy with the compnay and its products.
I like that it’s cordless – makes it so much quicker to get around. Suction is very good and it keeps the floors clean. The battery life is enough to allow me do my 1300 sq foot home on one charge.
The main con is that you have to disassemble and clean it after each use. Although you get used to it, that can be a little time consuming.
Overall glad I purchased it and would recommend.
I’ve become a bit of an expert on cleaning hard floors and this is the 5th washer/dryer I’ve tried. All the others either got sent back or e-bayed! With two dogs I need something that works as I don’t like spending my life cleaning floors. The Bissell Crosswave really does the job! I like that it is very easy to use, i.e. all the bits click nicely together – no struggling to put bits back once cleaned. Cleaning it is very simple – the roller does itself automatically and the other bits just need a rinse under a warm water tap and left to dry. The clean and dirty water tanks are both big enough to do 3 rooms plus 2 bathrooms and the battery time just about allows me to get round before it runs out. But in fact it recharges in about 15 minutes.
Dog hairs are sucked up and collected in a filter, so you don’t block the sink when you empty it. It also goes up close to the edges which I like. I’m not sure how it would perform on really dirty, greasy floors, but for what I would consider normal use, I really recommend this machine.
Wouldn’t want to pay full price, but really useful for our downstairs area – tiles in kitchen and a new wood floor (that wouldn’t like our old steam mop).
Clever design that can cope well with carpet as well.
I cannot rate this highly enough, we can properly clean all the floors downstairs in about 30 minutes and then just empty the waste water out. Previously the tasks of hoovering, mopping and drying the floors used to take forever, this does it all in one go! We have 3 under 4 year old and 2 border collies so you can imagine the mess the floors can get i
It could fulfill its basic functions as stated, despite a bit heavy indeed. It is after all very convenient to have all functions into one machine. Unlike some other reviewers, I think the duration of half an hour for use after full charge is okay considering it is cordless. I just separated my cleaning tasks of the whole house into different parts. If there can be a handheld function, it’d be 5 stars.
I’m happy with this vacuum, ideal for small mid. apartment. you can finish your whole home with one charge, great cleaning job with hard floors and rug as well.
It’s a little bit heavy on the rug but really efficiency.
If you have big house with many rooms I would recommend the one with cord.
Excellent product.. personally thought it could do a slight bit better compared to other brands. Price is quite high at the moment compared to others.
Drying is prob the best feature of this.
Bissell Crossway cordless max is an amazing product, used it for the first time today and it puts my dyson v10 to shame. Hoovers edges really well, mops up simple stains, for more stubborn stains you’d need an old fashioned mop but on a day to day basis this product makes your floors so much cleaner, I was astonished at how much dirt was in it when I finished. It’s really easy to open every compartment to make sure the hoover is cleaned and I just can’t rave about it enough. I noticed one of the reviews on here said it was really heavy, it’s not, it’s lightweight so easy to carry up and down the stairs, after a while my hand and arm ached but what hoover wouldn’t after a certain amount of time. This is the best thing I have bought in a long time and actually makes me excited to clean my floors. If anyone is thinking whether they should buy this or not I can assure you definitely buy it, you won’t be making a mistake.
Brought to clean by business premises – I have now got another for home . It is much better than a traditional electric mop and I can hover at the same time workout damaging anything. Think cleaning bathroom floor post children having a bath or cleaning the floor post young children eating. It makes life easy. Works for family life. The original one we purchased is great for cleaning the floor for work- but this was definitely for parents who need an easy way to clean up messes quickly. So does great job of full house clean – but I am absolutely sure it’s day to day cleaning use will be spills and muddy floors. Dries so quickly. Absolutely love i
I have had the original corded crosswave for a number of years and have bought many replacement filters and brushes but I am aware of it’s faults so after been given Amazon vouchers for Xmas I did my research and decided on the cordless crosswave max as after reading the comments seemed to address my issues with the original crosswave.
1. The integral hair debris catcher is definitely a winner, with 3 dogs shedding hair liberally I usually let the roomba do the hard work and then move onto the crosswave however when the roomba ran out of juice before finishing the kitchen I just went for it dog hairs and all and it did a fantastic job.
2. weight, whilst this is a lot heavier it works to its advantage, we have a slightly uneven wooden floor which the original struggles with but the cordless crosswave max is not daunted and cleans as well in the uneven area as the flat floor
3. The self cleaning brush when placed back on the charger was a revelation normally I would have to take the brush roll assembly to pieces and remove all the dog hair, whilst the cordless max had dog hair on the brush when placed in self cleaning mode it got sucked dramatically up the machine and into the waste water bucket and gathering on the new hair trap, amazing!
4. Just the fact it’s cordless is in itself a massive bonus
5. The edge cleaning, this is much much better than the original
6. I admit I am anal about floor cleaners of any type but with 3 dogs it’s an everyday necessity so to sum it up I love it!!
7. No reason to put off cleaning the floor now, being cordless makes cleaning a doddle, as I have a bad back fighting with the corded version just made me put off cleaning the floor.
So easy to use and clean. With 3 dogs and 3 cats, my kitchen floor was always a nightmare. My previous cleaner didn’t do the job. This is fantastic and with a tiled floor that has contoured grouting it’s been a nightmare until now. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
Easy to manage not bulky but still a bit heavy to take it upstairs.
Enjoy vacuum and mopping in one go but the head can’t get deep underneath of cabinets, sofa, even bed due to the thickness of the machine body which is not in a pole size. You need a Dyson handheld machine for daily causal use.
Most annoying me is I need to spend 15-20mins every time to remove all long hair twined on the two ends and middle of the brush roll, another 10-15mins to wash the filters and containers
Original Bliss cleaner solution is only enough for cleaning living room. you just feel the floor is wet but was not wiped and cleaned. Must buy extra cleaner solution (other brand) together with your machine to enjoy the first trial. Need to refill once for covering an area of 3 bed house including kitchen, bathroom and utility room
A very loud sound will come out when the bottom container is full when you turn your handle either left and right side. It sounds scary and makes you feel there is something wrong with the machine.
All in all, happy purchase.
We opted for the Karcher equivalent 4 years ago, which has been ok but I found that I still had to vacuum first, so was a bit disappointing. When it broke I thought I would try the Bissel and I’m so glad that I did.
There’s nothing to dislike about the Bissel cleaner. It really does vacuum and wash at the same time, saving loads of time. It is easy to use, is lightweight, with great manoeuvrability and it’s so easy to clean out afterwards. Brilliant!
This cleaner is so nearly perfect for our needs. As the advertising says, it has both clean and dirty water tanks and also vacuums up bits on the floor, so no need to vacuum before cleaning, unless you have a large amount of litter on the floor.
We’ve been amazed at the amount of dirty water it collects and the amount of dog hair contained therein from our two Labradoodles, who DO shed (that’s the trouble with steam cleaners, as far as i’m concerned, they put water on the floor and leave it there so the dirt doesn’t really get picked up).
It’s also great not to have to kneel on the floor to give it a good scrub by hand (which is what i’d previously resorted to)
Downsides: As previous reviews state, it doesn’t clean right up to the cupboard plinths, so you really need to wipe the last inch/couple of inches with a cloth. Also, we have tiles that aren’t smooth, sort of a stone effect, which tend to collect dirt in little corners. Whilst the cleaner does a good job of keeping them clean it doesn’t get into all the little spaces, so i had to scrub every inch of floor before starting to use the cleaner for the first time. Once I’d done that, it’s doing a pretty good job of stopping any more pockets of dirt forming
It’s convenient as I thought. Just a little bit heavy and not suit for stairs.
Best so far we had. Cleans well. The charging base is tricky to use and a better fit would be helpful. Certainly one of the better or on the market. Tank easy to use… but only for prescribed cleaning fluid .. guess no foam formula? Warranty affected if you don’t use it .
I run a small.domestic cleaning business and therefore clean a lot.of houses, many with large areas of hard flooring. There is absolutely no doubt that this item saves time on the traditional vacuuming and mopping and anything that saves time in my industry gets a big thumbs up from.me.
The suction on this machine is excellent and it will suck.up almost anything, wet or dry. However, I wouldn’t say it is a miracle cleaning machine, it cleans no better than a vacuum and steam mop and one downside is that it doesn’t really reach the edges and corners of the room. It works well on most hard floors, wood, tile and ceramic, however, if tiles are very shiny, the roller tends to skid around and leave marks behind. It is also good at cleaning rugs as long as they are large and weighted, otherwise it will just suck them up and get jammed. I don’t agree that the machine dries as it goes, although it doesn’t take long for the floors to dry, it cannot be drying when the roller brush is constantly wet!
The dirty tank is small and gets full very quickly, however it is quick and easy to empty to carry on. Cleaning the machine when you have finished with it is also easy and quick but I would recommend getting a second filter and roller brush as they take 24hrs to dry between uses.
The biggest thumbs down is the cost of the formula, which doesn’t go far, I can get through a one litre bottle of this stuff after cleaning about 3 houses, so.I do have to limit how.much I use the machine because of this. Shame really as I would use it.much more otherwise.
Overall, an excellent time saving piece of equipment but expensive to run.
As this is an expensive purchase for the equivalent of a mop and bucket I decided to write a review which I hope will help others. I have wood, laminate and tiled floors. I have 3 poodles (non shedding) and 3 cats. However despite the Dogs being non shedding there is a lot of very small bits of hair from grooming along with bits of grass, leaves etc dragged in from the garden along with cat litter.
Previously I would vacuum the floor then use either a steam mop or a vileda spin mop. Despite the prior vacuuming there were always very small bits of hair that would gather in a line and required using dry kitchen roll to remove, the kitchen roll always looked dirty when wiped over the cleaned floor. I have a bad back and constant bending was painful.
After one particularly hard clean up job where the handle of the steam mop detached from the head I decided to try an all in one solution. I couldn’t find any direct comparisons between the Krcher or the Bissell and reading the reviews there were good and bad for both. I decided on the Bissell because I have a Bissell carpet cleaner that I love.
First of all there is virtually no assembly required, and I was able to use it within a few minutes. So I first of all cleaned my kitchen and there were the usual stains plus some blood. I like the Bissell 2 tank system where the dirty water is collected and it is constantly clean water that is being used on the floor. At the end I was disgusted at how dirty the water was – I’m far too embarrassed to post pictures. But the main point was the amount of hair that was collected. This volume was never collected by my vacuum leaving the small residue on the floor that needed a manual wipe and a quantity of kitchen roll.
It is easy to use and not too heavy, it uses far less water than either the steam mop or my bucket. The squeegee on the machine leaves the floors drier than my other methods and I loved the clean, streak free finish I achieved,
The vacuum power was demonstrated when I accidentally picked up an Allen key, it was easily removed from the roller without causing damage.
It has a reasonable length of cord, longer than my steam mop.
If my opinion changes once I have used the mop for some time I will revise this review.
Pros
Quicker than other methods
Picked up more small particles, I.e hair
Always used clean water
Powerful vacuum
Leaves floors drier than other methods
Cons
Price it is an expensive item
It can’t clean in corners.
It is a corded machine therefore requires to be plugged in and plugs changed throughout the process. I really don’t believe that battery technology is at a standard to allow a cordless model.
I used to have a Vax Floormate, but it gave up the ghost after a year. I had kept my eyes open for something similar and then a Youtube video introduced me to this wonderful machine. I am so pleased I bought it. In comparison to the Vax Floormate, this machine looks so much more cosmetically appealing, but more than that, it is so light and easy to use. Once the machine is running, the spinning brushhead helps pull it along the floor and it just makes such easy work of cleaning the floors.
I was sceptical about it’s hoovering capabilities but alas there is no worry to be had, as this machine sucks up everything on the floor. In a home with children (girls hair) and dogs, this machine literally sucks up the hair and it doesn’t clog the brush head, unlike with my Dyson cordless. It uses Bissell’s own detergent, which smells lovely but isn’t overpowering.
You fill the detachable pull out container with warm water and the detergent, turn the machine on with either the ‘hard floor’ or ‘rug’ button and away you go. The difference between these two buttons is it puts down more water on the rug setting than it does with the hard floor setting. I use the rug setting on my slate kitchen tiles as it works better that way with more water. The good thing about this machine, with the hard floor setting, is it seems to hardly use much water unlike the Vax Floormate, which literally soaked the floor.
I like the handy tray it comes with, which you stand it in. This is also where you clean the machine after each use by pouring clean water into the tray and turning the machine on so the roller brush cleans itself. You can easily detach the front (see photos) to get the roller brush out to stand it out the machine to dry and clean inside the head of the machine – not that it really gets very dirty!
This floor cleaner seems to have mixed reviews but I am SO pleased I bought it. The sheer ease, light weight and how it is so easy to steer makes this a dream when washing and hoovering your floors. I was forever vacuuming, then hoovering, only to find you had missed some dirt with the hoover and the mop wouldn’t pick it up. This machine solves all this as it’s constantly hoovering as it’s washing your floors.
I intend to buy another roller as a spare, but from watching Youtube videos, this machine in America comes with an additional stiff brush roller. I plan on purchasing one of these too, but you have to buy those on a different ‘bidding’ site as Amazon don’t stock them.
As for the roller brush not being the full length of the head of the machine head, I don’t think it really matters as it really only leaves an inch and if you go in the direction of the wall as opposed to going along the wall, it gets right up close. So glad I bought this machine and the icing on the cake is when you see all the dirty water!
