Just what we needed for our large area of stone flooring.
It’s a little bit heavy to me. But it made me realize how dirty my carpet is!
Have been thinking of buying a carpet cleaner for some time and really delighted with this one. Very compact so easy to use and get into awkward places which a larger machine couldn’t. Did a deep clean and thoroughly ashamed but delighted by the colour of the water afterwards. Easy to store in the cupboard under the stairs as the handle is telescopic. So far I’ve done my large living room and two bedrooms and next week will attack the stairs. There is no separate attachment for stairs, but the brochure explains how to use the machine. Am delighted that I opted for this machine, very very pleased with the purchase.
I have only used this once for a bedroom, it worked very well and did not get all bunged up with carpet fibres like previous ones I have tried. It did get out a lot of dirty water. Yes you do have to refill it quite often but I don’t see that as being a problem.
I love this little gadget! Having struggled for years with a big, heavy Bissell Powerclean, I decided to change it (after a friend who had borrowed it managed to break the foot pedal) and I’m so glad I did. This mini Bissell does the job brilliantly without fuss and is light enough to carry around from room to room and up the stairs. Thank you Bissell.
This carpet cleaner is excellent because:
It’s very lightweight
It’s easy to assemble
It’s easy to use – fill with water to a line, top up with cleaner to a line, press button for deep or express clean, then use a trigger on the handle.
It’s effective
It’s small – perfect for my little three bed terrace. I can store it and use it without wishing I had a bigger house.
Even better if:
It had an upholstery attachment or tight spot attachment. If a small hoover couldn’t do it then this machine can’t
That’s also an issue on narrow, steep, terrace house stairs. It’s possible but not ideal.
All the instructions are pictorial so I *think* I’m operating it correctly, but who knows!
Short answer? Very glad I have it, still lusting after the perfect solution to small houses with carpets.
I had to throw away my Vax after many years and spent a long time researching for a new carpet cleaner.
When I used it for the first time, I couldn’t believe how clean and fresh the carpets came up, and they have stayed clean too. I used the deep clean programme selector, I have yet to use the quick clean one. Very impressed with this.
Didn’t like the enclosed instructions, made up of drawings and numbers, U tube video better.
Bissell say cleaner is designed for cleaning carpets, the water tank is marked for carpets and hard floors
water levels. A hard floor kit is available but hard to find. Awaiting reply from Bissell for purchase details
Overall am satisfied with the cleaner. I found the initial assembly fiddly as there were no written instructions, only pictures. It was not clear how to release the handle or remove the plastic front brush cover for cleaning and I did not want to force it for fear of breaking the plastic. Have now got used to it as I found a video online which explained everything more clearly. Otherwise the cleaner does the job and has cleaned the carpets well.
This cleaner is great. Well made, and the disgn is good. The telescopic handle is great for storage. Being able to remove the brush bar for cleaning is great. I would definitely recommend this.
Did an amazing job with my awful difficult to clean cord carpets. As a tenant it worked out cheaper for me to buy the bissell and clean them myself. Having a young child who is prone to dropping things on the carpet this is essential, I’ve only had the carpet cleaner a few days but I liked the way it was easy to take apart to clean and although it left the carpets wet, I had no hope of getting them clean yet it worked really well and left the carpets smelling fresh when dry. Pretty good , would recommend.
Really easy to use and set up. Great suction power for a compact carpet washer. The large brush is great at lifting the dirt from the carpets too. You do have to fill up the water tank and empty out the dirty container a lot when on deep clean mode. But when on express clean, the tank can last an entire room!
Amazing product all in all! Would 100000% recommend bissel over a vax after trying to use a vax prior cleaning a dirt trach from our back doors onto our lounge carpet from our puppy and the vax didn’t shift the dirt at all. But the bissel lifted all dirt and stains effortlessly!
Also GREAT and clever way to clean it once used with the wash tray and brush bar is easy to remove too to dry out properly!
This product works very well , easy to use , easy to fill in with water and to empty and clean , extremely easy I would say . The carpet now look very very clean and the color is bright again , the dirty water looked literally black . It works perfectly well on stairs as it is a small machine that fits easily on the stair steps , though I must admit I’ve used this in Italy where home stairs steps are not as small as in UK, so larger than the cleaner , and as it is light and easy to manoeuvre and move up the steps . it It is indeed a shame you need to carry on replacing water as the tank fits only 1.5 litres. To avoid walking to the bathroom to through dirty water away I’ve carried with me a bucket where I emptied the dirty water , though for the clean water you do need to get hot water so is unlikely you will have it available nearby . It comes with a 750ml bottle of Wash and Protect Pro Stain & Odour.
Our last carpet washer was a hoover which served us well but was very loud and very heavy.
Also over time it was performing so so and accessories never worked as they should so it was time for a change. In rolls the Bissell Hydrowave.
We have living room, hallway, stairs and one bedroom carpeted with the rest being hard.
So far it has done them with ease and we are happy with our purchase, no complaints here.
PROS – Quiet, light, efficient, small footprint.
CONS – None really but if I were pushed I would say the tank empties too quickly but its not as if I am
doing it every week. and my time is that important.
Maybe one simple hand tool should haver been included but we also have a hand held so thats
also not an issue for us.
I had a vax which worked well but was very hard to clean the Bissell works equally as well but is so much easier and quicker to clean. I am so glad the vax stopped working prompting a new purchase.
For a small lightweight carpet shampooer this is brilliant. Very easy to use and suction power amazing. Only downside is small water tank and therefore needs emptying more often but this is far outweighed by the lightness and ease of use. I love i
Got this cleaner to use on some old carpets, wasn’t expecting too much as others hadn’t given great results and carpets always looked much the same as they did before using the cleaner,
On using this carpet cleaner the results were very good, the difference was fairly amazing, really surprised how black the water was on the first clean, really looks brighter.
Don’t make the same mistake as me when emptying the dirty water, I tipped in the sink and managed to block it, so flush it down the toilet.
Very happy with this cleane
This performed better than I expected. I wanted to know my carpets were clean but it actually removed a lot of very old stains in the process which I didn’t think would be possible!
Lightweight and very easy to use. I did every room of a 4 bed house with one large bottle of cleaning fluid (16)
Very impressed and would recommend
Reason for purchase seemed a good compromise; carpet / hard floor cleaner including ease of maintainance. It also gave us something to do during lockdown.
After extensive online research the problem with most inexpensive home use cleaners was the time and difficulty of cleaning the machine after use.
We have a mixture of about 50% carpet to Tiled flooring, total area about 130 m.
Usage: This cleaner works well on both carpet and tiles.
Carpets: areas of about 2 m worked better than trying larger ones. Cleaning Fluid tank emptied per area of about 10 to 15 m. Dirty water Tank was emptied and the suction plate was cleaned frequently when “fluff” and foam streaks were observed being left behind.
Tiles: the whole area (assuming <20 m) can be cleaned in one pass without needing to empty either Tank. Minimal hand drying i.e. Mop, is needed.
Note: Manufacturers reccomendation, more cleaning fluid is required for Tiled floors in comparison to Carpeted ones., but total amount per square area is much less.
Carpet: Obviously the time taken, when compared to a proffessional doing the job, is this one takes about 5 times longer to achieve a similar result. How we measure cleanliness as an amateur is not objective but subjective. This said the carpets looked brighter, the pile softer so subjectively "cleaner". The colour of the dirty water was disgustingly brown
Drying: we selected cold dry (5 to 8C with <70% relative humidity) winter days with the heating on 18C and windows partially open.
Dependant upon the type of material and structure it took about 3 hrs to be no longer wet with 9hrs to no discernable moisture left.
Tiled floor: On tiled floors the vacuum effect left the floor almost dry immediately with very little steaks, much better than "Mop and Bucket" and considerably quicker
Likes:
Simple removal and replacement of water containers
Easy to use
Easy after use cleaning, rinsing under running water was quick and effeicient with the tool provided
Useful Storage Tray which allows drying of dissemled components.
No dislikes
I would recomend this product to anyone for small areas or those with patience and endurance for larger areas.
I am so pleased with this! A couple of tough stains were removed easily something other spot carpet cleaners couldn’t do. It really is a breeze to use too. I live in an edwatdian cottage so rooms are 4mx5m so didnt have to add more solution. Maybe emptied dirty one. Very good quality and design. Very Happy
So so pleased with this. It’s quiet ,it’s small. The drip tray and general ease of removing and cleaning parts shows a great deal of thought has gone into this. For such a small motor it really sucks up the dirty water and cat hair that I thought I had been vacuuming up !! You don’t need much shampoo ,on express clean it really did a good job ,and was dry ,on a January day, in about an hour. The retractable handle is a great bonus.I love it !
Says that you can use it on stairs – a bit heavy to lug up stairs. Brush head is too wide for my stairs. Could do with a larger waste water containe
Excellent machine which left the carpet virtually dry. Easy to use with the machine travelling forward on its own steam ( which took my husband by surprise). Need to pull it backwards yourself though, just like other carpet cleaners. I do not like the smell of the carpet cleaner though, but that’s just a personal thing. Much lighter than our older Bessel carpet cleaner, but still rather heavy for me being elderly with arthritis. Overall a great little machine that’s very powerful.
Highly recommend. Well made and a great design. It’s lightweight and powerful. Some people don’t like the fact it has a smaller tank compared to bigger machines. I’ve had a bigger machine and found them hard work. Yes, you will have to stop many times to refill and empty the tank. It doesn’t come with tools but I managed to clean my stairs. I think it’s the best carpet cleaner I’ve bought. It stores away neatly and taking parts off to clean was a breeze. Good price too.
Got my new hydrowave sat used it today Monday, it is fantastic my lounge carpet looks like new and the spot cleaner saves me getting onto my knees, best buy in a long time. Only complaint is you have to keep stopping to empty dirty water it only let’s the tub not even half fill, but thats all other wise great tool to have around the house, my daughter coming to borrow it at the weekend.
I am thrilled by just how good this carpet washer is. We have thick cream carpets throughout the house, and until we bought this we had not had them professionally cleaned for about three years. They were certainly beginning to show the need for a clean.
This carpet cleaner was about half the price of one professional clean, and to my mind has done a better job. The carpets look as good as new again and all with really little exertion. The cleaning fluid goes in a clear container – about 80% water to about 20% cleaning solution.- which is very easy to lift from the cleaner, fill, and put back again. Then you pull the cleaner back and forward across the carpet with less effort that you need when vacuuming.
The difficult spots on the carpet need a little spray of cleaning solution which is super easily administered by pressing a button on the controls part of the handle. The dirty water from the cleaning – and we were amazed by how much dirt it was taking out of the carpets – goes into a separate container which is very easy taken off the cleaner, emptied out, and put back again, ready for the next cleaning session
The cleaner has two programme strengths – easily controlled by buttons on the handle. We have been using the more intense one because it had been too long since we had our carpets cleaned, but the less intense one, which uses less cleaning fluid will do fine from now on, as we can clean the carpets as often we like. It worked well in rooms that aren’t used much.
This is an incredibly easy thing to use. It is very light , so easy to take up and down stairs and to manoeuvre around . Carpets are dry again in just a few hours after cleaning and the the cleaning fluid and water is so easy to add and then pour way when dirty
I am amazed by how effective this Bissell carpet cleaner is – dirty carpets are clean again, and all so easy to do. It is actually quite fun to use as you can see the carpets getting cleaner as you use it.
Great machine but the water box is just to small. Too many chamges needed. Otherwise, it’s got to be the best cleaner out there (next to the professional ones).
A brilliant cleaner and deep cleans better than a professional cleaner. I have a long hair dog and it worked wonders. It is light weight and easily stored. Very easy to clean after use. The only negative is the time it takes for the carpets to dry after a deep clean as mine took 24 hours. I would recommend this cleaner for anyone with pets.
Wow!
You can hoover your carpets, you can clean them with a steam cleaner, but nothing goes near this cleaner!
Its ready to use out of the box!
First bottle of cleaning liquid is free, so happy days!
As soon as I tried I was impressed! I thought they were clean… Nop,now they are!
Is a bit noisy, like a normal hoover I would say!
It’s easy to move around, but doesn’t dry in 30m, not even close… Might depend of kind of carpet you have…
Overall, looks expensive, but it works great and cleans your house! If it lasts for long, is very affordable and important to any house with carpets and kids or dogs…
The thing that appealed to me most about this is the simplicity of it. There are no nozzles, attachments, brushes for cleaning anything else. It’s much smaller than my previous cleaner, much more compact. And you pick it up and clean your carpet, and only your carpet. This may be a downer for some but I used to look at my old cleaner and all its attachments, think that I really ought to clean the sofa, armchair etc as well, while I’ve got it out – and never actually get round to getting it out.
And what it does, it does well. On arrival it was quick and easy to assemble. On use, my carpet was definitely touch dry within 30 mins – the hall was dry before I finished the living room. The instructions however are pretty poor and obscure. The key to a fast drying carpet is to go over and over after the cleaning stripe just sucking up the water (as people who’ve had a cleaner before will know) but that’s not made remotely clear in the instruction leaflet. It’s easy to see whether any more fluid is being sucked up and move on to the next bit when it’s done (2 or 3 back and forths at maximum).
So it is pretty small but to be honest, it’s still pretty heavy (maybe it feels that way because my Shark vacuum is so light). The dirt in the collection container shows graphically it’s doing its job. I was particularly startled too at how much cat hair it removed, given that I literally vacuumed the carpet just before I started (and my vacuum is a top brand, well-regarded one which had always seemed to pick up every last hair and speck of dust), so its claim to do what vacuum cleaners leave behind holds up. I had to stop and clear out the brush head halfway through. Cleaning up afterwards was a doddle and very quick.
I would *definitely* get this out to suck up a mug of spilt tea and then clean it – it would be quicker than kitchen towel and spot cleaners. All in all, it does exactly what it says it will do and if that’s what you are looking for, you will be satisfied.
This machine boasts the effectiveness of a full-size carpet cleaner in a more compact and lightweight form. That size issue is both a strength and a weakness.
Out of the box, assembly is very straightforward and it took only a few minutes to get from unpacking to being ready to start cleaning. The cleaner comes with a first bottle of cleaning formula so you can start using it immediately. The instructions are entirely pictorial — more and more manuals are like this, with pictures but no explanatory text. I prefer some explanation but the pictures were clear enough to enable me to assemble the cleaner, fill it up with warm water and cleaning fluid, run a session of cleaning and finally empty the machine. The instructions are less clear on exactly how to operate it — pressing a button and holding a trigger on the handle, as I found out by rethinking the pictures and experimenting.
The cleaner is self-propelling which makes it easier to get around the room, and overall it is relatively light. Its small size helps with this, but means that the tank is also small so you will be refilling it partway through a thorough clean of a medium-sized room carpet. There is no adapter for cleaning stairs and upholstery or getting into small and awkward spaces, so for those jobs it is too big. If you need to do stairs frequently, and/or your rooms are large, this may not be the right machine for you. As a plus, according to the water tank, this machine cleans hard floors as well as carpet — a real bonus for us as we have a lot of tiled flooring.
Cleaning performance is effective — our basement carpet is now brighter, softer and much nicer smelling. The carpet doesn’t end up too wet, even on the deep clean setting, and drying time seems reasonable but this will depend very much on the conditions of your home, the weather, and ventilation. The machine picked up and filtered out a surprising amount of pet hair — for the best cleaning, a thorough vacuuming before cleaning would be a good idea. Finally dismantling, emptying and cleaning the machine after use was easy.
In the right home this compact machine will be very useful and a good alternative to the much bigger and heavier full-size machines. It is simple to use and effective, but may not be large or flexible enough for some homes.
I’ve wanted one of the small hand held Bissels’s for some time but can’t quite afford it at the moment, so I was very pleased to try this one. I only have carpet on the stairs and i honestly feel it would be near impossible to use this unit to effectively clean the stair carpet, in the same way that people don’t use upright vacuums to hoover stairs. What i do have is some long rubber backed runner mats in the hallways that i used to jet-wash outside in the summer. Using the cleaner on those was quite messy and a little awkward but i think with more practice it would be little more effort than hoovering, cleaning of the unit after use aside. I was concerned about the amount of water dumped into the carpet during use; again practice with the unit would reduce this to sensible levels but i was glad i hadn’t used it on fixed carpets first time. After the mat had dried which took a day, it really did feel very clean.
I’ve mostly used the hydrowave on the express clean setting for my kitchen and lounge rugs. I used the deep clean setting on the landing once and thought the carpet would come up to suffice to say it’s quite powerful!
The Hydrowave does exactly as described. It’s surprisingly lightweight when I compare it to other carpet cleaners I’ve used in the past. The “CleanShot” which effectively shoots bursts of cleaner into the carpet fibre like some sort of cleaner’s water pistol is a decent touch and adds to the range of use for this. It’s great in the kitchen as mentioned for targeting problematic areas.
It’s not too bulky to store away and is surprisingly efficient with power.
This Bissell Hydrowave is a great carpet cleaner in a relatively small package. It compares favourably with the ‘Rug Doctor’ carpet cleaning machines you can rent. In use it spews out water and cleaning fluid into your carpet and then sucks it back up again taking a lot of the grime with it. I found it fairly easy to use, and certainly less clunky and easier to manoeuvre than other versions, including the ‘Rug Doctor’. It pulled a lot of dirt out of our carpet, which now looks all the better for it. It is no miracle cure though and won’t remove deeply ingrained stains. You need to leave a day or two for your carpet to fully dry though – the claim of a couple of hours to dry is nonsense.
This was a real eye opener. When we moved house three years ago we got new carpets in every room, we vacuum regularly but have never used a carpet cleaner before. Well wow we couldn’t believe the amount of gunk and grime the Bissell found in our carpets! We have also managed to remove some tough mud stains away from our hallway carpets and breathe new life into our home!
The Bissell is not like any traditional carpet cleaner I have ever used, it is so lightweight and so effortless to manoeuvre. Out of the box the Bissell is already assembled – all you need to do is raise the retractable handle, then fill the water tank with water and a small amount of the cleaning fluid (which comes provided with the cleaner) and then you are ready to go. You can choose from a express clean or a deep clean. As you are cleaning your carpets first pull in the small red lever to soak the carpets in the water cleaning fluid mix. Next release the red lever and go over the same patch of carpet again and the Bissell will suck back the water so your carpets are left only slightly damp. Using this technique your carpets will be completely dry within 30 minutes even on a winters day. The motorised brush head spins around while cleaning and helps to dig deep into the carpet pile and remove all the underlying dirt and grime. There is also a third button to release the clean shot fluid to add some extra treatment to tackle those tough carpet stains.
Once it comes to cleaning your Bissell and emptying the waste water tank you will be shocked at the amount of dirt and grime that has been removed from your carpets. For anyone who suffers from allergens this is a essential purchase, although I would highly recommend this cleaner to anyone who wants clean carpets with their true colours restored. Don’t be put off by the price – this is well worth the money and once you have completed your first carpet clean you will be thankful for your purchase.
Having not had a carpet cleaner before, this was an eye opener. We have a dog, so expected a lot of gunk, but were not prepared for how much this will shift. Firstly, if you do have a dog that sheds fur, then the bristles will get clogged, no matter how hard you try. removing it is straightforward (albeit gross) and the process of clearing the dirty water away is easy. It does appear to wallop through the cleaning fluid, but it does come with a small bottle to get you going. It is quite bulky, but does certainly seem compact compared to the ones you can hire. It dribbles relentlessly after use, so the stand is essential. Overall, this is a great product.
Ok so maybe my wife didn’t quite read the instructions right but we ended up with a soaked rug that doesn’t look all that much cleaner. HOWEVER, the colour of the water that came out of the collection tank would suggest otherwise.
The instructions aren’t particularly helpful and could do with some improving. Otherwise this is a great piece of kit.
Oh and I’m not sure about the 30mins but the mode we tried definitely didn’t dry that quickly.
Twice the power and half the size
Coming from an older huge Vax carpet washer, this is an absolute dream. It’s like a third of its size and really powerful. Plus, I can actually wash my stairs now without having to mess around with attachments making the job so much quicker and easier.
I love the clean shot feature that sticks out at the front which allows you to squirt cleaning fluid directly on to tough areas like doorways that get a lot of traffic or If someone has accidently spills a drink like coffee or red wine.
Storage is a massive plus on this Bissell cleaner. It’s so much slimmer than my old carpet vax, much easier to get in and out of our under-stair cupboard which is already full of clothes horses and an ironing board. It used to be a massive pain getting our old large vax out so rarely got used but this so much easier. The cleaner comes pretty much already and weighs only 6kg which is lighter than a lot of standard upright hoovers.
It also really easy to move around due to being lighter yet the powerful suction literally pulls the carpet up as you move it around leaving little to no water in the carpet and drying time is really quick.
I’m really impressed. Its so easy and quick to use.
I really can’t believe how much dirt a carpet can hold even if you try to clean and hoover every day
This powerful carpet cleaner is great
Very easy to use and clean with it
It has the brushes aswell which makes cleaning a lot better and deeper
It takes quite a lot water from the carpet but not a chance to dry in just 30min as stated
It takes up to 24 hours to dry completely and all heatings on for now in winter
In summer I can wait and see think with be easier as you open all the windows and doors
Very high quality is worth every penny as it works very well .
I still have and still use my StainPro 10 and I had no problems with it at all, until this much better model came along and made life so much easier. It’s smaller and with a more practical design that makes me question how I ever suffered with the older model.
It’s more or less complete fresh out of the box with a tiny bit of assembly involved. I was so pleased to see how compact it all is, especially as I don’t have a lot of space. It’s honestly about half the size of the older one and the filling/draining method is easier and more logical. With the StainPro 10 it was virtually impossible to drain the filthy water without accidentally draining the unused cleaning fluid. However, on the hydrowave, both compartments are separate. The suction on the carpet is so strong that when I turned it on it dragged me across the floor like a herd of horses. I’m not even joking.
My carpets are very much reaching the end, END, E-N-D of their lives and I need a good vacuum and cleaner to revitalise them as much as possible. My Shark does a good of that but this new Bissell managed to graft an unbelievable amount of filth off the carpet even after using the older model to wash a couple of weeks ago. As you can see from the attached picture, the container was filled with a noir latte of nasty grime.
With a smaller build and more practical design I will be using this one way more often. Hauling out the gigantic StainPro was such a hassle. Top marks for this model.
