The BLACK+DECKER 18 V Anti-jam Hedge Trimmer is lightweight yet robust, designed to feel comfortable and secure when in use. Powered with 18 V Li-ion battery, and kitted with 45 cm hardened steel dual action blade with 18 mm blade gap, this trimmer can cut through small to medium hedges.
Anti-jam technology

Simply press the button at the top of the tool and blades re-track themselves from the jam.

Definitely not fit for professional gardeners but it’s surprisingly strong and Luckily I already have a few B&D batteries so that’s not an issue for me but even without any spares the battery still lasts a decent 40 minutes to an hour. Convenient yet efficient. would recommend.
Was using a hand me down overly large heavy long reach unit to mow small hedges, nothing too substantial. It was getting to be a bit exhausting lugging the big unit around. Invested in this baby unit which uses the same batteries as my old unit and my strimmer and I’m pleased I did. It’s light but still gets the job done easily and without complaint.
An excellent piece of equipment. Easy to assemble and charge and simple to use.
Just the right weight and blade length to do all the jobs I need round the garden, added bonus I can swap batteries with my other B&D tools.

I have a 50 foot long by 6 foot high privit and the battery still has plenty of life in it once the privits have been cut.
These are much slower than mains powered trimmers but they still cut great. Well pleased with these.
I was able to cut my hedge myself. Didn’t have to employ someone to do it.
Battery life is about 20 to 25 minutes. If your hedges are as extensive as mine that’s a bit restricting. An excellent cutter of box and holly. Requires two hands to use. Awkward if up a ladder. Very pleased with it.
I own several other Black & Decker battery powered tools so ideal as batteries are interchangeable so works well for us. Also easy to use and does what it says on the box.

This is lightweight, easy to use and has an excellent battery life. It is quite sharp and coped well with the jobs I needed it to do.
I’m happy with this. We have connifer hedges not big by normal standards but big to me. This cuts them a treat. After messing around with an expensive unusable petrol trimmer that was so heavy them didn’t start then an equally heavy, bulky electric trimmer gave this a try. Obviously didn’t have the torque to get through bigger branches but cut through more than expected. Don’t know why I’m surprised my other b&d 18v tools are brillia
If you’ve never had a hedge cutter before then just buy this one. It slices all my hedges like they’re butter and I’m grinning the entire time.
I had a very similar model previously but cabled and it was just a massive pain in the arse. This charges fast, lasts at least 30 mins (my longest session so far) and cuts through everything I’ve thrown it at, has been bramble up to 2cm wide.
It’s not too heavy (although I’m quite weak).
So far I’ve just cut square edges but honestly, this thing is so amazing it has me watching topiary videos and dreaming about creating hedge art.
I also bought an edge strimmer that uses the same battery pack and don’t regret it all.
It’s light, easy to control and permits a sharp, accurate cut. The battery life is excellent and recharging is fast. Very pleased with this tool. Unfortunately the plastic guard to the blade is cheap and not brilliant.

Lightweight, easy to use, quicker than a mains unit as no cable logistics.
This is a brilliant piece of kit, that is easy to assemble and use. It’s a good weight, the battery was powerful enough for what I need to do and it made pretty light work of some reasonably thick branches on a bush that I was cutting.
I also have a Black & Decker drill and the battery from the hedge trimmer and the drill at the same which is very handy. I endorse this product.
However, the lower power also means significantly less noise – definitely no earplugs required. And the convenience of being cordless means much time and effort is saved by not having to roll out metres of electric cable up the drive or down the garden. As someone who sees gardening as a real chore, being able to just grab the thing, clip on the battery, get the job done and get back inside, has made me less inclined to put things off.
Another plus is it’s really light compared to a mains one.
Battery life is about 45 mins of continuous use. Charging is not very fast, and will take a good few hours if expended, so charge it up in advance.
So glad I didn’t get a cheaper, smaller 12v version (this is 18v). I doubt I’ll ever go back to a mains-driven one after this, but next time I’ll look for an even higher voltage one.
This cutter has performed very well so far and I hope it has a longer life. One benefit is that the battery is interchangeable with the one for by B & D strimmer. Only criticism I have is that the blade protection is with a soft plastic case (H D bag), however the one supplied with my previous cutter fits and is superior.
This machine is excellent for gardeners of a certain age, light, sharp and good battery life, just have to remember it cannot do the clear up.
Nice battery operated trimmer. Light and durable. Battery charged quickly and holds a good charge, nice little unit.

So much less hassle than having to worry about cords, extension reels etc. Just pick up & go. Battery compatible with the B&D strimmer I have too, which is handy – now have two batteries if I needed.
Pondered long before paying more for a cordless than with cable, my word I’ve actually done something right, this is fabulous, so much easier than dragging and tripping over electric cables , takes the hard work out of trimming, and on Health and Safety grounds a must have.

Best little machine I have owned . Was going to get the 36V machine but thought I would try the 18V first. Great decision, I have also bought the 18V strimmer. The batteries are interchangeable.

Very happy with this hedge trimmer. Ideal for new growth but not so good for woody branches. Cuts my box hedge perfectly.

Very good product but a chainsaw is needed for the harder stuff.
Like a hot knife through butter. Battery charge lasts for a good hour. Easy to use.

Great product – I was fed up with trailing cables and the risks of cutting them with normal electric trimmers. This unit copes very well with all normal hedging and bushes – batteries last as long as I need to complete the tasks in our garden. Basically I love this product!

This was for someone and they are pleased with it.
Bought as a gift for my partner & he loves it. Has made clipping of large hedges so much easier & battery charge lasts quite well.
overall very good and works well for my medium size hedge.

Previous questions asked if a charger was included and the answer was yes. I did not get a charger with my order??? Arrived very quickly
Have cut my two hedges twice and still have not had to recharge. Excellent cutting power and well suited to normal hedges. The cordless aspect makes this extremely easy to use. Highly recommended.

Pretty powerful cutting action (at least as good as the corded job I replaced with it). Lasts long enough on a charge to cut the bushes I need cut in one sitting. Reasonable weight too. One star off for slightly finicky button / switch to turn it on but good kit otherwise.

With this fine piece of kit, I can easily cut both hedges in 40 minutes and I actually don’t mind doing it now!
