My pond is 6ftx6ft and 2ft deep.
I was going to buy 3 of these but I’m glad I only got 1 which is sufficient for my needs.
Initially I attached it via a 3 pin plug to an outside garden proof box but have now attached it to a Blagdon outdoor safety unit.
On both occasions all that was needed was a screw driver. It works fine and comes on automatically at sunset however there is an option to cover the sensor lense and keep it on permanently if required.
I’m not an electrician and shy away from most DIY jobs, but these lights were easy to install and have been a great addition to the pond. Strong and powerful, they provide another pond experience. In fact, seeing the fish at night time is like observing another world. No regrets and the five light set up is exactly what I was after! My only criticism would be that there is just one of each colour filters (e.g. one red, one blue, one green)… for aesthetics, I would have preferred two of each as allows for symetrical lighting displays… but this is a small gripe, and I believe I can order additional filters online.
I purchased this item for Blagdon half moon pond.
So today is first day of use and waiting for it to get dark to switch on – the unit is factory set to permanent on mode -so be sure to flip up the rubber sensor cover if you want the dawn to dusk auto feature.
This was so easy to install it took me about 20 minutes in total -including wiring the plug!
Mine is at the bottom of the pond , the tray the light unit is fixed to is simple genius -weighted down with clean 20mm flint chips and is going nowhere.
I love blagdon products and cannot recommend them highly enough.
Work really well, brighter than I thought they would be., great value for 5 lamps
Quite expensive- but does give out a good light. Plenty of cable.
Makes the pond look lovely at night. I bought the unit with three lights. The kit comes with three little trays that link together, each containing an individual lamp. Each lamp can then be moved both up and down and left and right, in order to aim the beam exactly where you want it.
It’s perfect and I’m very happy indeed.
Used Blagdon products before, again not disappointed, robust and quality product with loads of different attachments in the same box, sharp quality light beam, certainly buy again, better than a lot of other lights, well packaged and shipped
Only just installed these lights, so far so good! One complaint the wires from the lights to the 3 way splitter are rather small, having a deepish pond made it difficult to get the wires to reach!
Great lights but only get three colour lens caps for five lights , what if I want all coloured in pond you don’t get that option you have you pay for more , but if you get the 3 light pack you still get 3 lens that’s the bad down side for me
At last, an excellent quality underwater light. We’ve tried cheap Chinese imports & totally wasted our money, you certainly get what you pay for. It looks great in our pond & I’m now considering going for the multi lamp kit. Well done Blagdon.
Pleased it these lights. They look good in the pond and on the flower bed.
As described Easy to set up. Cold do withave more wire between lights. But this did not cause any problems
Very pleased with the light set very robust and well constructed.
Pond lights are great but the garden light option showed it not to be robust. Probably my own fault but grandchildren playing football and hitting the lights was probably not in the design spec!!
Arrived quickly and well packaged, easy to fit just slightly disappointed that then used underwater they are not as bright as expected (especially if you use the coloured lens). Would better suit a fairly shallow pond. Going to try different bulbs myself to improve but overall a good product.
These LED pond lights are far superior to the old bulb type
Arrived in record time, strong sturdy lights that were easy to install, my garden is now lit up at night and looks lovely, also my elderly dog Cassie (15) is no longer falling over her paws when she walks down to the lawn area 🙂
Lights turned up this afternoon and I rushed to get them working before sundown. All are in pond and will leave them overnight. The output from each lamp is better than I expected with a range of around 2 Metres at 1 foot deep with a pure clear beam. The only problem I encountered was one of the lights screw connection was too small for the securing plastic bolts so had to adapt a way to secure myself. That said will probably buy another set for the next pond I have planned for this year.
Only had the light for a month or so. Very pleased with it so far. Easy to set up and is submerged in 4ft of water and performing well. The light output is great considering it’s less than 1 watt. I have purchased another light to give the pond a more balanced look. Beware that if your buying this light to try out before committing to buying the 3 or 5 light set that as far as I’m aware they are different. The 3 and 5 light sets are 3 watt bulbs in each light and they don’t have the dusk till dawn sensor on them. Alot of sites do state this but it can be a little confusing as you’d expect them to all be the same specification.
On unpacking the lights I was struck by how solidly-built they were. You can’t really tell this from the photo. In fact, it’s all good-quality, well-thought-out design with these lights. Setting them up took a while but that’s down to our elaborate pond, stream and waterfall setup rather than a problem with the lighting system. Just to make things clear, what you get is a length of cable leading from the mains to a weatherproof transformer. Another cable plugs into the transformer (with a waterproof seal) and leads to a three-way connector. Here you attach (plug in) shorter cables to two of the lights, the other connection being to another length of cable. This leads to another three-way connector and the remaining lights plug into this. One of the light cables is much longer than the others, incidentally, which helps. Also supplied are two types of stand for each light.
I set it up so that a light was in the pond, another illuminating an arbour, another lighting up the stream and path from afar, another close to the stream and another in the top pool, focussed on the waterfall.
We had decided that the coloured lenses would be tacky and unnecessary. But in fact we used all three, as the colours are fairly subtle and help give a softer effect. Turning the lights on in daylight you could hardly tell the difference. But as soon as it’s dark they give a lot of illumination, and are all much stronger than the solar-powered one we were using (which also only lasts a couple of hours at this time of year!).
Since I bought them, they’ve been in use every evening to great effect and really finish off our pond project.
These lamps are great when installed in the pond, we have 3 on the bottom and around the stepped sides and they look great at night…
Well made solid items from a top manufacturer, and very easy to set-up and install – any DIY’er could easily complete..
So far so good…Seem to be very good quality and bright. They are quite a cold bright white colour, I’d have preferred a warmer white – they only supply one red, one blue and one yellow filter lenses – A bit mean, you’d have thought they could have at least supplied one for each lamp… Very easy to set up – (God knows how people who say it was difficult manage to get dressed in the morning?!) Each lamp illuminates objects upto about 2 metres away… Only time will tell how long they last…
