So much easier for me to use because it’s so much lighter.

No complaints: excellent product. However, as an RCD is recommended for safety, perhaps product should also be offered for sale with a Residual Current Device.

Brilliant product, strims really well. Light weight. Easy to use. Very sturdy when put together. Well worth the money I spent.

For what it is and for my intentions it’s absolutely fantastic, the 10 knocked off for prime day helped as well. Lightweight, easy to put together ( less than 10mins) and certainly powerful enough for my garden ( 25 square metre ) can’t fault it.

A great product for the price easy to assemble easy to use the strimming cord is strong and quite thick so can cut most weeds as well as grass and not that noisy it will annoy the neighbours

Easy to assemble. The bosch strummer reel is easy to use, better than the plastic prongs which snap at the slightest twig.

Only downside is the power lead is a little short. Still plenty.

Bought this product despite the fact the majority of people were moaning about the cord being easy to snap when you clip something like brick or anything hard.
So I simply read the reviews, clocked that people had been using 3mm wire, and simply drilling out the spool whole to be able to take the 3mm wire and bobs your uncle, it’s a completely different beast.
I believe the spool hole is 2.5mm so you could avoid drilling and just get 2.5mm wire and replace the 1.6mm the item comes with, but for me 3mm is the sweet spot.
The take home message is to read the reviews and don’t just be a divvy and say something is rubbish because you can’t be bothered to adapt it and save about 60 on an improved model

I saw many negative comments about this product, but with me its working well. I used only once but it can cut all grass types.

Was very sceptical after reading many bad reviews but I found it works well. I have a large back garden and a good sized front garden and it cut the grass with ease. Wire did snap with thick weeds and brambles but that’s expected with any strimmer. Glad I purchased, well worth the money.

Pretty lightweight and easy to use, easy to extend the cable further after some cutting. My grass is if the thick blade type, grew almost 2ft high, so I gave two or three passes with this and it worked perfectly well! Comes in really compact storage, fits in my tool bench outside.

This strimmer is powerful enough to cut through grass and some weeds, but the supplied string ran out within two days, it snaps too easily. I have bought stronger filament to tackle weeds but I would recommend a refill pack of string and use the supplied spool to wind it onto as the bosch replacement spools are a waste of time for the money. Overall it did what I wanted at the expense of an entire reel of string, but thankfully third party accessories at reasonable prices are available, Oregon is a good brand, don’t try any string hacks, that’s a mugs game and you could break your strimmer.

I brought this because of the great price it was being offered at.
I was slightly unsure how good it would be after reading some of the reviews but I took the chance.
I only have a small garden, but it had become overgrown.
The strimmer cut through it without any issues.
Thistles, bramble long grass were cut with no problem
    I was more than happy.
In my opion and my experience I would certainly recommend it.

It’s a cheap strimmer, it works fine IF, as other reviewers have already said, you fit a thicker line. I used a 2.4mm and it works fine for some quite heavy duty strimming.

  31. My Subscription Addiction says:

Before buying it I read in the comments that the main issue was the cord breaking in one second. However, a user said that after he bought a 2.4mm cord the problem was solved. I must said that it worked for me as well. I don’t know in the long run, only have it for two weeks now but I didn’t change the cord yet.

  32. Anonymous says:

I was skeptical about buying this after seeing some of the reviews, however I thought I’d risk it as only 31 quid. Great and works well. I get what everyone was saying the cord it comes with is flimsy and breaks a lot but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I bought some different cord HOWEVER you will see reviews saying get 3mm cord so I did….its doesn’t fit through the hole where the cord comes through unless you drill it out yourself so be careful with which cord you pick.

  33. AidenPulleine says:

I have arthritis & spinal injuries, this easy to assemble, folds for storage and is very lightweight but powerful and perfect for a small to medium garden. I’d recommend getting a sturdier cord though, as the one supplied breaks (not horrifyingly weak, but a slightly heavier gauge would negate that)

I was recently in the market for a cheap budget strimmer to trim the edges of the grass when I came across this one, after reading through some of the initial reviews I nearly did not buy it. However thanks to the user who said about replacing the cord, for 20 odd quid I thought it was worth a punt. I didn’t fancy drilling it out so replaced the standard cord with a Oregon Round Heavy-Duty Trimmer Line, Orange, 2.4mm x 15m. Wow what an improvement it has made! I left the standard cord in at first and like everyone said it kept breaking every two seconds. But with the thicker cord you have a much better machine, I only use it for trimming the edges of the lawn but it works a treat for me. The strimmer itself seems pretty light and is straight forward to use. If you don’t mind replacing the cord and only have a small area to strim I highly recommend this.

  40. RogelioCardella says:

For the money this is spot on for a small to medium garden. Yes the cable is short but most strimmers are.
If you use the pathetic stimmer line that comes with it then yes its not great. However add OREGON 110985E Nylium Star Strimmer Line, and OMG it never snaps. I did my full garden and no breakages. If you want something more heavy duty spend some proper money, but if you want a cheap and branded strimmer that does the job just up grade the line to something quality and you’ve got a little beast of a strimmer.

  41. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Easy to set up and use. Struggles with the longest grass. The cutting line is only just strong enough for manicured lawns, rather than heavily overgrown thick grass.the electric cable is a dark red so hard to spot in the grass. Does not twist to do edging or vertical cutting

  42. JasmineCooke says:

     United Kingdom

Trims grass on edges. Certainly can not replace a mower. Whenever you hit a wall with the thread it needs to be re-threaded. Takes about 2 min to do so.
The only thing I would notice on the cons is a bit of a short power line. Only about 6 meters. Had to buy an extender.
The rest meets my expectations so far.

  43. webteam-tb says:

This was under 25 quid. It is a Bosch but a cheap one. It is not the best ever strimmer but does the job in a small garden. I don’t find it particularly comfortable to use. It helped tidy a small but unruly lawn fairly quickly. I wouldn’t want to use this for more than about 15/20 minutes at a time.

  44. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

It’s very lightweight, and even easier to assemble and fairly manoeuvrable. However, one minus is the yellow string that actually spins and cuts whatever you need to cut; it always breaks off if you use a certain angle and in general jus breaks off very easily. Very annoying if you’re cutting small corners of grass near fenses etc, as when it hits the fence it will most likely break off.

  45. UKQThaosapyidh says:

This is a light weight and cheap strimmer and it does the job but you spend lots of time resetting the cutting line as it wears or snaps quite quickly

I have a Bosch lawnmower which is fine so thought I’d get the same strimmer. I read other reviews saying the plastic cord provided was weak so ordered something a bit thicker. Perfect!

I’ve been looking for a grass trimmer for my parents’ gardan for a while and came across this one.
Looked at the reviews as many do and there are some bad reviews that put me off at first, but the price wasn’t going to do a dent in my pocket so I bought it.
Only thing you might have to do is change the cord, the rest is FANTASTIC.

If you’re not going to use it for the Queen’s garden, you don’t expect it to cut trees or rocks, just change the cord and it’s a perfect little trimmer for your back garden!

Just used it for only once. Although the original 1.6mm cord was used, the grass trimmer was still working in good order. My lawn is a relatively small, probably half of a tennis court and have to cautiously avoid the hard objects when trimming. Thanks to advice of other customers, if the cord does break in future use, then I will replace the cord with a thicker one.

I have had numerous strimmers over the years ranging from bad to worse. This tool is absolutely great, its quite powerful and the cord feed mechanism is excellent( push a button on the spool hub and pull out the required amount of line) no messing with an auto feed that usually does not work! It has a single cord so everything is kept simple. The tool is easily assembled and I would recommend this strimmer to anyone with a medium sized lawn.

I’ve seen this strimmer getting a lot of flak in the reviews here, and coming from a very similar strimmer, from my experience, its not as bad as they say… compact in the box, quick to assemble and reasonably cheap… the lines a little short, but its in spec, you get what you pay for… in line with other reviews, first piece of line broke almost instantly, but after pulling out another length, proceeded to do the rest of my approx 40m garden with little issue, just grass and the odd weed here and there, one snap when I asked it to go through a chunk of bramble, but thats maybe asking too much…
I’ve only used it once or twice, but for what i payee, just under 30 on sale, you can’t ask for much more out of the box performance, its not a petrol weed walker, or lawnmower, its a cheap simple strimmer, and if the line you get in the box is bad, spend a fiver and buy something a little better quality, and a little thicker and it might not break so easily… how it holds up, time will tell but my last of an older model has lasted several years, and if I only get 3 out of it, its done well

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this product after 20 year of avoiding ‘strimmers’, and my experience has in many ways both been vindicated but also has also overturned my misconceptions. Consequently this review does not come down strongly on either side.
I had read the previous reviews which suggested that the cutting cord should be upgraded to a thicker grade and I duly followed this advice. I have been using the machine for about 1 month, during the growing season in order to give myself some experience of using the equipment.
Despite upgrading the cord, it can only be regarded as a consumable item, and you will need replacement cords quickly, because the usage rate remains high. The reason is that this type of machine is difficult to accurately target, and you will hit immovable and hard objects causing the cord to break. The inaccuracy of judging the cutting point is caused by the varying length of the cord as it wears, and variation of the edges in a garden. This leads to the cord cutting into the lawn surface, leaving cut marks in the soil.
The inaccuracy and the potential for marking of a lawn, leads me to conclude that for small gardens and lawns with cut edges, the best results are obtained from long handled edging shears.
The draw backs mean, that the purpose of the ‘strimmer’ should be more closely defined, if you want to have a tool which is ‘fit for purpose’.
My conclusion is that this tool is ideal for cutting longer grass, especially if close to a masonry wall, or other hard vertical surface. Regard the trimmer as a replacement for the scythe, rather than replacement for shears. However, remember that the very high revolutionary speed of the cord effectively mulches the grass and vegetation, and will stain any light coloured adjacent surfaces. The spatter pattern of green mulch can appear several feet away.
Finally, remember to clean the grass mulch from the machine at the end of each job, it hardens and sets when dry, and will block air vents if not quickly removed with a stiff brush at the end of each job.

Finally, remember to clean the grass mulch from the machine at the end of each job, it hardens and sets when dry, and will block air vents if not quickly removed with a stiff brush at the end of each job.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this product after 20 year of avoiding ‘strimmers’, and my experience has in many ways both been vindicated but also has also overturned my misconceptions.

Can’t complain about it for the price. Only used for light work if you want to tackle tougher gardens I would advise using a thicker line.

I bought this after checking the number of stars it received and not the bad revues it got. Yes the line does snap but it also cuts grass well certainly better than any fly-mow version I have had where the line snapped before it cut grass. I will watch how long the line survives and purchase some other line if needed. For the price I paid I cannot complai

The strimmer is well made as expected from Bosch. It works well and it has to be remembered that it is intended for use on grass, I have found no problem with the cord size. It seems to work well but again is intended for use on grass and if thicker items are met then you may have a problem. It is important to say that the electrical lead wire has to be of a three cord type with a green earth wire included, if a two cord type is used you may have a problem. It’s a good buy at the price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter reading the reviews I was very weary to buy this stimmer BUT I’m very glad I did. It’s a great bit of kit and I also took note of buying the 2.4mm wire to go with it even tho the wire that came with it did the job. I haven’t got a nice garden more of a jungle and it even went thru the toughest of weeds. It was very easy and straightforward to put together.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI only have a small garden so there was not much point me paying for a high end strimmer.

I have the Bosch ART23 before this and it lasted me about 10 years.

It’s functional, does the job, haven’t encountered any major issues with the cutting cord so far, seems to chop the grass fine but there is another viewer with a suggested mod for making it better which I may do at some point.

Not sure if this strimmer is heavier or just more awkward but I get more arm ache using it than my last one…..and the biggest downside for me which is why it doesn’t get 5 stars is the cord length, it’s about 2/3 the length of the old model I had. With that one I put the extension reel in the middle and did the entire garden, this one I have to keep moving it and for the sake of a a few extra metres of cable it’s a bit disappointing.

If you purchase remember this is an entry level product, don’t expect miracles.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this product cause my previous way more exspensive electric strimmer broke down
After years of usage. Tbh i did not fancy buying a +100 strimmer for the amount i use it in a year.

So i bought this one. My first experience while putting it together was bad. Its very easy. The tube exist of 3 parts press a button in the tube and find the hole in the other tube and it clicks together. Simple right. No. I managed somehow to push it so far in it just disappeared. Fine no worries ordered a return and got a replacement. And the second time after being more careful it connected. So that my only thing i suggest to watch out for. But when everything is put together is feels realy solid.

I write this extensive review cause i really dont get all the negative reviews over this product.

Yes the wire what comes with it is not as strong as a my 1.65mm wire i have in my shed. But i used the whole roll. Before writing this review. It doesn’t disintegrate when you use it like some reviews claim. If used the whole roll now. And cut down very long thick grass. Thick weeds, Edging close to rocks etc. And it went all fine.

Yes, it works way way better with a 1.65mm wire. So after you finished it and just put a 1.65mm in it. You should be fine. This product does the job. Even for his cheap price. For extensive every day usage i don’t know. I just use it once every 2 weeks for about 3 hrs and everything it needs to do it does. I hope this review is helpful to some people to make up their minds

EDIT: i said instead of 1.65mm wire use a 2.5mm wire. That was a genuine mistake. I mean 1.65mm. A 2.5mm wire wont fit. I tried.
    Then you guys know

After reading reviews I was worried it would keep snapping the line as many other strimmers have done.
Used once and found no problems. Although no bump feed it is easy to do by pressing release on the line drum.
    Quite happy with the performance.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersEasygrasscut26 – read the reviews before buying this item most of the negative reviews mention one common issue with the wire. The provided spool of wire is terrible so beforebyou even start it get some 2.4mm trimmer line (wilko sell it for 1.50) this will save you the hassle of broken wire every 2 mins. The Strimmer is lightweight with an ambidextrous safety and with the wire guide its easy to know where you are strimming. Assembly is easy and tool free. For 29 I don’t think is as bad as the negative reviews say it is. Ohh and you get a 3yr manufacturers guarantee! I’m not complaining at that at all

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersThanks to an earlier practical reviewer I also purchased some 3mm cord to prevent the dreaded 1.6 mm breakages. I drilled out carefully the metal grommet to accept the wider cord and then spooled up and trimmed to fit. The strimmer has been thus converted from a wimp to a Hercules and doesn’t snap at the slightest hard obstruction.. an excellent fix . The strimmer is robust and seems well made and for a little extra DIY effort turns out into something extra.

Nice item IF you treat it to a little DIY

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was somewhat concerned before purchasing this item, having read other’s reviews of it. However for the price I thought it was worth a gamble. I’m glad I did. I have just strimmed my medium size garden (mostly edging and around decking as well as the sides of the path and around the shed and trees), and it worked an absolute treat. No problems whatsoever. The cord that comes with the strimmer did the job perfectly and only used up a small amount, with plenty left for future use. The cord easily cut through the grass (quite thick grass in places) and the weeds (dandelions, mostly) without trouble.

A much better product than I had expected, I can completely recommend.

Then installed it all when it arrived. Then set about destroying the over grown chaos that was my lawn. It worked brilliantly!! Not a problem! So get it bought and update the cord and there you go! Well happy.

good delivery and light and powerful to use. the only drawback that i found was that the cutting cord was not very strong and is prone to breaking, however the fitting of a stronger cord has overcome this problem.

Golden Review Award: 265 From Our UsersExcellent product!!! After reading bunch of bad reviews I’ve decided to give a try and prove that is fantastic tool. As most people said the cord is the weakest spot and that was the case over all. What I did , change the lead straight out of the box. Included cord is only 1.6mm thick and could break quite easily if you go too close to something hard ( don’t expect miracles on this price point). I bought 3mm the cheapest available cost about 4-5 for 15meters and with little DIY ( required to drill the lead exit because is about 2.5mm diameter, if you replace with 2.5mm cord doesn’t have to drill) . The results is more then impressive , works like a charm. To all people who want to get something decent with little rework that is the way. For all other people just spend about 100 and don’t complain.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe mains cord could/should have been longer, and is NOT detachable. The spool nylon is a bit brittle, probably due to a plastic length cutter, and not a metal one. The motor cracks on at a fair speed, and it cut my edges with no problems. I have a large corner plot garden, front, side and back. The motor head is slightly heavier than I thought it would be.
But it is cheap, and it works, so far.
I will just have to wait and see how long it lasts.
My last one lasted 23 years, with a few repairs along the way.
    Only time will tell.

Very easy to assemble and handle, compact and straightforward to store.
One area I would suggest could make the lawn trimmer 100% would be to do some work on the nylon cutting cord.
It does not appear to be as sturdy as the Flymo cord.

This is a super tool. Brilliant for weed disposal, really does the trick.
The only downside is the spool you have to be careful when using to set spool length shorter so it doesn’t break off. . . . . . . ! !

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI have an arm/ shoulder injury so bought this to save getting out the lawn mower. I found this difficult to manage it does a good job when held properly, but you need fairly strong arms/shoulders to hold it correctly, although well made as with all Bosch Products I regret buying it.
