I have always loved Bosch products based on the quality of build, durability and reasonable value for money.
As I mentioned above the quite generous detachable mains cord has been manufactured using a very visible colour (Red)
This particular model is nice and easy to handle with my arthritis ridden hands.
The blades cut though my privvet hedge with ease and handled larger steams up to 15mm .
Whilst the trimmer is available in a longer length I stuck with the compact version 45cms
I’m really chuffed and would recommend to anyone with compact hedges where a long reach wasn’t an issue.

Bought to replace a heavier duty model which had a faulty cable (after 12 years and being severed several times) not quite as much power but still cuts through bushes and light branches with ease, easy to operate and lightweight. Good safety features and I especially like the fact the wire plugs firmly into the machine (and stays fast) and it is not wired directly into it (this would make it easier to replace wire if it were accidentally cut) good length of wire and with an extra extension easily reaches all of the garden. Recommended.

Great tool, very sharp, good long blade, double safety switches, handy cable connecter , good value for money, probably not the lightest of trimmers but I used it for a few hours yesterday and no aches or pains today.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our Users* Physical

I have used one of these before. The previous model Bosch I owned was my father’s. He got it second-hand. And it still lasted over two decades before it died on me. This new one has the same lightweight, quality feel. It’s easy to handle as it’s balanced in your hands. The cabling on this is longer than my previous model. I still recommend you get a cable extension reel to extend its range of usage. If you feel hard done by having to buy this cable reel just for this, think it will help you hoover your car and mow your lawn?

    * First looks

It came within 24 hours. i saved 15. I decided to set up a three-year warranty. To do so you’re required to surf the Bosch website. I entered into this online warranty form, two serial codes. This has a single letter in its number code. And the other code is on the box it came in. This has just a string of 9 or 10 numbers only. Then I printed out and scanned my Amazon bill and uploaded it in the form as part of my three-year guarantee warranty. This proof of payment is uploaded at the end of the creation of the warranty and then if it is sorted, you can download and print the tailored to your customer warranty document for safekeeping. I would staple the warranty and the bill of sale and keep these somewhere safe.

    * What is it like?

These cutters are great. I recommend the application of a lubricant – such as WD-40 – to the blades. This one is cheaper, and i.m.h.o, just as good as the own brand Bosch spray-on lubricant. I say this with confidence. As I used this same spray on this same Bosch model hedge cutter and it lasted over two decades! This Bosch hedge cutter can be loud when you’re using it. If the hedges are wet, I suggest you wait for a dry day. They can cut more than fresh growth. It’s easy to cut verticle and horizontal level cuts on well-established hedges. Not all cutters can do this on strong growth. The way it is not too heavy helps when using it. It has a plastic scabbard to protect the blades. If required to put it in storage.

The blades on this Bosch hedge cutter are the same length as on my previous model. It feels great build quality. Please take care and try not to cut the cable you’re powering it with! My dad and I did this a few times! I have discovered that a replacement cable for this hedge cutter can be sourced from Amazon suppliers. So if you must maintain the safest usage of this tool, and you do cut the cable, you can buy one for less than 20.

    * Summary

This hedge cutter feels and handles with great control and balance, with not being too heavy. And it has a strong enough motor to handle well-established hedges, and to trim them back. I expected this device to be around 90. This is based on checking with a nearby, well-known physical DIY store, the one spelt with three characters. It’s great it’s sold on Amazon at a more manageable price.

Due to ill health my hedge had got a bit out of hand but this cutter did a great job. Cutting cleanly without tearing the hedge and not straining the motor. Nice to use easily and safely. The cord unplugging is a handy touch, makes it easier to put away after use and store till next time. Happy

This is not a heavy duty hedge trimmer, but it is a useful tool, and I have been strong enough to use it myself on some of our hedges. Which is what I wanted it for.
So probably not the tool for cutting your sixth foot hedges, but a useful tool for periodic tidying up, even if like me you are 5ft 3 in without strong wrists. I did buy myself some ear protectors and a visor, and make sure I am otherwise safe when using, so don’t forget those steps too.

This electric trimmer is so much lighter and easier to use than our old petrol beast and makes trimming and shaping hedges quite fun. My husband says he’d prefer a battery operated one to avoid the hassle of extension leads and the risk of cutting the power lead but as a battery adds so much weight I’m happier with this version (and an RCD plug on the extension lead just in case!).

This is a nice lightweight and powerful small hedge cutter have the name of best power tools. Bosch always provide a quality, performance, longlife tools. This 45cm hedge cutter is ideal for smaller hedges, branches and bushes. The high-torque motor of 420 watts delivers excellent results. Compact and ergonomic, comfortable handles to grip for horizontal or vertical cutting. The tool weight is only 2.6 kg so the load to your arms and back is a minimum.
I use this cutter very often in my garden. Because I have a Carpal Tunnel syndrome and I cannot hold anything heavy in my hands so this cutter is perfect to me. I had other one which is bigger and heavier what causes a lot pain to my hands.

I have a lot of Bosch battery tools and they are great. I have the 18 volt hedge trimmer and it is fine for tidy ups but not powerful enough for more heavy work. This corded trimmer comes in handy with bigger cuts and more ambitious cutting. I would recommend getting a long extension cable to go with it. It cuts Privet, climbing roses, conifers and all of our hedges very well. I keep them neat with the battery one as it is much lighter.

    Overall.
A good mains trimmer that has been in action all summer. just the odd spray of oil is needed to keep the trimmer in working order. Bosch tools are excellent.

I don’t have a garden, but I sent this product to a friend who does. This is what she had to say about it:

Considering how efficient it is, the Bosch EasyHedgeCut 45 isn’t unbearably heavy. The blade is a good length and width, it’s nicely balanced and ergonomically designed, and it isn’t too hefty to hold in a horizontal position at shoulder height for the top of the hedge. You notice the weight of it quite quickly, but as a 5’1″ and flabby woman I could still manage to use it long enough to cut my 15-year-old yew hedge. The branches are generally less than 4mm in diameter, which the Bosch handled easily. The new growth was so soft and springy that it just flexed out of the way of the first stroke, but you could catch it going the other way. The hedge trimmer struggled with stems that were more than 5mm or particularly woody. For these, a sawing motion was required. It was sharp enough to give a good cut, and it’s not too noisy considering its power.

I found it too hard on my hands to hold down the on lever and the switch at the same time for more than about ten minutes, but that is more about the size of my handspan. My sister, who is a working gardener, found that she was able to continue for around forty minutes until the hedge was finished.

The power cable could do with being a little longer, so that the weight of the connector stays on the ground; it would then keep out of the way more easily. As it is, the weight of it causes it to get in the way as it hangs by the hedge, and it can easily get caught when using a sideways sweeping motion.

We have a very powerful hedge cutter that is cordless but I find it too heavy and unwieldy to use. I often want to trim back shrubbery or hedging and rather than calling on Mr. K I like to do it myself.

This Bosch Hedge Trimmer is ideal. It is fairly lightweight and has a 45cm blade and cuts through most shrubs etc with ease. Bear in mind — this is not a chainsaw and will jam up if you try to cut through thicker branches. However I find it excellent for my needs.

Like most electric garden tools the cable is too short — 10 metres — for most gardens so an extension reels is necessary. It is all too easy to become over-confident and cut through the cable — as I know from experience of hedge cutters in the past! So vigilance is needed.

I like the fact that a tip protector is included for using close to a wall or fence.

An effective and useful piece of kit.

This is the ‘upgraded’ model, we happened to have the older model of this and the weight difference is noticeable, and you do want a hedge trimmer to be lighter specially if you’re using it for a prolonged period of time.

The blade assembly has been upgraded as well, with a guard added protecting the moving parts from debris falling into them, and with a tip at the end to avoid direct contact with walls or fences, and it does help.

If you spend a couple minutes brushing debris off the blades and spraying some WD40 after use, you’ll prolong the life expectancy of your trimmer.

Overall: Excellent hedge trimmer that will last a lifetime with the right level of care, would definitely recommend.

I’m no great lover of hedges. Yes, they look very nice when trimmed but I find the trimming to be a real chore. So, this EasyHedgeCut 45 from market leader Bosch is very welcome. Out of the box you just know you’re holding a quality bit of kit. It may not be suitable for larger hedges but for most suburban gardens it is just the job. It is well balanced and easy to control keeping user fatigue to a minimum. The blades are a good length and make short work of the cutting chore. I also like that the cable can be kept separate from the machine. I also thought the cable was a bit thicker than my old machine, whether that is of any significance I don’t know.
Bottom line? This is an excellent hedge trimmer for small to medium gardens…recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI used to think that all hedge cutters were the same until I bought the Bosch Cordless 0600849F70 18 V Cutter which turned out to be a complete revelation! Exactly as Bosch’s own blurb stated, it cut (1st time) through dense hedge and even thick stems with consummate ease and even at a rather expensive 120, it’s one of the best gardening investments I’ve ever made (it really is that good)!

This one is the latter’s corded, little brother with a shorter cutting length, no sawing teeth on the end, mains power (as opposed to cordless) all for a cost that is near exactly half the price of its bigger brother, which begs the question as to which one is the better bargain? Well, the answer is actually pretty easy as it all really depends on the size, condition & thickness of the hedge your cutter will face. Typical solid Bosch build quality aside, in use, the EasyHedgeCut 45 is manageable, ergonomic & well balanced. It comes with a heavy duty, shielded mains cable and connector (far superior & safer as those used by cheaper brands) and just like it’s bigger brother, it cuts effortlessly through normal hedging, albeit with a smaller reach. Where it struggles slightly is on stems/branches greater than c.20mm. Yes it does cut them, but on testing, it took a couple of sweeps to shape some wayward hawthorn branches and the cut was less “clean” than that achieved by it’s bigger brother.

And that really is it, for once again Bosch’s own blurb tells you precisely what this hedge cutter excels at, namely “lightweight and well balanced hedge trimmer for trimming smaller hedges”. For such use, you’d be hard pressed to find a better built, better performing cutter in the market. Ergo, whilst I still would have invested the extra money to buy the bigger cordless version, for half the price, the Easycut is an easy 5 star award winner, offering excellent value & superb performance, as long as your hedge is not a mix of bramble, hawthorn and hedging like mine!

For a non-professional hedge trimmer, I think this Bosch covers all the basics and covers them quite well.

The size is about right, light enough to cover most garden hedges without causing too much hand/arm strain and powerful enough to cut through some quite thick branches. I would estimate about the circumference of my little finger.

Not too noisy so no neighbours complaining on a Sunday morning and with the Bosch name I have expectations of long durability. I am not sure there is anything else to be expected at this price point.

This hedge cutter is being rather under-sold! There – you don’t get that very often in an Amazon review. Firstly the build quality is excellent, far better than the cutter it is replacing, also marketed a for ‘smaller hedges’. That one was really for postcard sized urban settings. This one could easily handle larger jobs, and has. None of this level of product can do the work of those used by professional arborists and the like. However, it can definitely get through finger thick branches of hedging or equivalent. Just do not expect the same on the same sized tree foliage!

The 45cm blade length is part of the product’s secret. The blade also seems particularly sharp. (For which it has a standard heavy duty plastic sheath). The electric motor is also just that little bit more powerful than many equivalents. Otherwise it has a very standard safety system whereby you have to have pressed down with both left and right hand for it to function. The cable is also of a high standard and more robust than one would expect. Overall, the package leaves competitors in the shade!

One name you can rely on for power tools is Bosch. From lawnmowers to shredders to powered screwdrivers, the range always delivers.

This is no exception. You could not be more pleased with a purchase than with this range. Balance is perfect, with a chunky handle to hold onto, and, at least with the 45, the weight is manageable. There is a safety button, plus large trigger buttons on the handle, and the only thing it lacks is a battery operation.

The 45 is described as for a small garden, but what that really means is, for small jobs, such as trimming back the odd bush, not for a 100m hedge! For these, it excels, now the rain has stopped and I can at last try it out.

I have but one criticism, not enough to reduce my rating below 4.9/5. The manual is vague about oiling the blades, but, yes, you should.

Edit: I do not take kindly to equipment that trips my RCDs. This did so, and all power went off. I am reducing the rating to 1*.

What can I say, this hedge trimmer is great!

I made the mistake years ago by buying the biggest hedge trimmer with a huge reach as I assumed it would be better, this was a big mistake, with size comes weight and it made trimming my huge hedge a nightmare, it probably took a a day for my back to recover after sorting my hedge out.

The easyhedgecut is a life saver, you get a generous amount of cable (10m) and its just so easy to use and manouvere. The cut itself is great, goes through my hedge like a hot knife through butter. Its honestly made a horrible job so much quicker and easier, highly reommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhat is it?
The Bosch EasyHedgeCut 45 is the baby of the EasyHedgeCut range with a corded 420watt motor blade length of 45cm and 16mm tooth spacing, designed to trim smaller sized hedges.

While its bigger brother EasyHedgeCut 18-45 has larger tooth spacing to tackle slightly large hedges, it’s a cordless trimmer with a dry weight of 2.3kg. With a battery pack fitted it’ll be heavier than the 45 (16)’s 2.6kg weight, making our corded model the lighest operating trimmer in the range.

    How is it?
In my experience of trimming our garden hedges, the cordless ones have an advantage of being free from cords being accidentally snagged or cut, but they often feel unbalanced, heavy on the motor side. They also deteriorate in performance due to relying on the battery capacity, so recently I’ve been looking into more corded variants.

Out of the box, I can see that the trimmer has a short EU plug molded in and then the main orange cable which has a UK plug for us to connect in. This makes packing away much more easy as there’s no copius amount of coiling up required, the trimmer can be stowed away while the orange cable can be put away in a box.

This does feel light and balanced which gives me more of an even distribution across my body when trimming. Its ergonomic design is well made so it’s not tiresome to hold for extended periods and works well regardless of being left/right-handed. The 420watt motor is punchy, even though they say this model is ideal for smaller hedges, it acts like an angry puppy so it allows you to make good progress and glides really well. The corded variant offers consistent power so this is something I can clearly rely on.

    Conclusion/Verdict?
I honestly think this model punches well above its waist in terms of performance. Recommended.

    A great corded trimme

The first thing my brother commented on when seeing this Bosch electric hedge cutter was that he would be able to easily get another cable if he cut it this time; he managed to cut the cable of his old hedge cutter.

The way this hedge cutter is designed is that you plug the longer cable into a short cable need the handle and blades; it would be nigh on impossible to cut the short cable, but if you cut the long cable then it would be easy enough to purchase a new one/replacement from Bosch.

The blade length of the hedge cutter is an impressive 45cm and the hedge cutter is very lightweight and as a result very easy to use and manoeuvre. It made short work of a bushy shrub in the back garden.

My brother is very pleased with this product and says he is happy to recommend. He thinks the price point (64.99 at time of review) is very reasonable too.

  54. LarryRehfisch says:

Due to the recent bad weather these haven’t been used in anger yet so the review is purely on first impressions
First thing its the are pretty light and maneuverable in hand but that is then impeded by the strange and very bulky euro 2 pin to UK 3 pin plug adapter that is about 10 – 15cm away from the handle.
This plug adapter doesn’t appear to have any water resistance as the 2 pin just slots in and friction holds it in there is no cover or cap. Now in most cases this wouldn’t be an issue but sometimes moisture can be a little inside our hedge and this adapter is heavy enough to go through the outer branches so its a concern to me that the lack of obvious IP on this connector could lead to water ingress
This is the 45mm length blade and you can see the length difference from my current 60cm set which I go for the reach for trimming the tree and wide 1m hedge
So the bosch will require much more reaching but comparing hand in hand is much more easy to control – something to think about if you don’t have a lot of arm or upper body strength
In test there was an increasing amount of arcing from the motor visible when stopping but this is the same on my current set along with strong electrical burning smell which is pretty common for new electric trimmers
I think this will be a good set for the smaller trees as it has a good cutting width and will allow closer control on climbing plants etc so the trade off in blade length is probably worth it
My only reason for knocking off a star is the strange choice of 2 to 3 pin adapte

Seem good but why the euro to UK adapter?

I hate trimming the hedge I’ve inherited from previous owners but it does provide privacy from other neighbours. It’s so hard to do with with clippers I bought I ended up with blisters and an aching back.
The Bosch clippers cut through the hedge like a hot knife through butter. Taking a fraction of the time and effort just have to collect clippers when done.

With a 420 watt motor, this hedge cutter can easily break through smaller hedges, and its diamond sharpening blade ensures perfect cut and finish. But be careful of thicker hedges because they will get stuck in them.

I am delighted with this trimmer. We have a bigger hedge trimmer with a blade about 100mm/4″ longer but we can ‘t use that any more as it’s very heavy. This one is just right for trimming shrubs, it I s sturdy but not too heavy and it cuts through lavender well, trims climbing plants, neatens laurel, heathers, euonymus, etc. so I can keep the garden tidy again! The tip at the end stops the cutter from damaging the fence when I am trimming up to it, which is very helpful. My husband is left handed, I am not, but we can both use this as the switches are in the middle. Even on steps I can lift this to do the higher parts of plants so it is really useful. The blade is long enough to reach down the side of shrubs that do not have space for me get between them, so that helps too. The cable length is able to be extended with an outdoor extension lead if required.
I can recommend this for all light trimming work. We used to have a very thick, tall hawthorn hedge, and I would not recommend it for that heavier work, but thankfully we don’t have that hedge any more and this trimmer is ideal for our middle-sized garden.

Fantastic Bosch hedge cutters. We cut my grandads hedges this weekend and because this bade is so long 45cm it took absolutely no time at all. My grandad was very happy and said he cannot believe how light this is even though it’s a 420w motor, yes it’s only 2.6kg and I said it’s not like the old ones Bosch have made them as light as they can but still great quality and cut perfect. Great price at 65 grandad says it’s a bargain and brilliant value for money in his opinion and I agree. Make sure you do clean the blades after every use and lubricator on the blades will make it last a lot longer.

Bosch are considered by many to be the market leaders in electric garden equipment and that is further confirmed by this latest offering.

The 45cm 420 W lightweight cutter is easy to use and has excellent maneuverability. It is well packed and the instructions are good. Great caution must be taken when handling it as it can do serious harm if mis- handled. A sturdy pair of leather gardening gloves can save a lot of grief. Likewise you should always be aware of the position of the power cable …it is very easy to cut it and spoil your whole day.

Other than those I’ve mentioned the cutter does not have any vices so if you take care of it it should give
    years of good service.

Cuts very well, but trigger Spring pressure too strong causing lots of stoppages.

Great exactly as described and works thanks. Box came a little beaten up but that I think is the couriers fault but like I said it was fine and it worked

This is light, easily manoeuvrable, sharp and gives a nice finish. It is not a heavy-duty petrol powered cutter and is not a replacement for one. But for its intended purpose it is brilliant.

Item is good for small hedges and trees with thin branches and does what you’d expect. Don’t buy this with the expectation that you’ll be able to hack down thick tree branches or really dense overgrown hedges. You’ll need something bigger than this for that but for the smaller jobs, this is ideal. Lightweight and sturdy.

Excellent prompt delivery. Product worked well, the only drawback was having to keep the dead mans handle depressed to make it work. When using at an angle this proved very awkward.

Cuts shrubs like butter and not so bad on the thicker stems either. Very light weight, capable and easy to manoeuvre.

As a previous user of loppers to do the garden hedge and shrubs this is a godsend. Took about a tenth of the time too although my arm was still vibrating for another 20 minutes after I finished

We have only cut 3 hedges but this seems great. I don’t think it would cut through thickish branches – it’s probably not meant to – but is doing a good job of our twice-a-year privet cut.

As a hedge trimmer it does what it’s meant to, not too heavy and didn’t get much vibration through the hands which has been an issue on previous ones we’ve had.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersWe purchased this on a lightning deal as our previous trimmer was rendered completely unusable due to a fault that had developed after continuous use. I found the trimmer to be extremely versatile, lightweight, and efficient for cutting a variety of hedges with ease. I would personally recommend you purchase an extension cable as the cable is quite short (you can pick these up for less than 5 on Amazon) aside from this the trimmer is ideal for reaching hard to reach areas in the garden.

Overall the Bosch Electric Hedge Cutter is perfect for a variety of uses in the garden, and makes mince meat of hedges and hard to reach areas in the garden.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt is great for smaller gardens and hard to reach areas up high on the hedges/behind fences etc. My only gripe is that it will not cut through anything thicker than a pencil. I am glad to have it though. I just wish I didn’t have to get a different tool out to do the thicker bits. It is a handy tool to have around though and does the job. Just be sure to be extremely careful when using it. You could very easily chop through a cord or your finger (or someone else’s!). There are buttons for both hands that have to be pushed for it to work but still be careful.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis has tackled a very tough hedge that had some very thick branches. I have used others before that just broke or blew up. I did have to let it cool down for a bit but now the hedge is under control it will keep it nicely in check. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI have never felt so manly AND so creative at the same time. Admittedly it’s the “creativity” born of the chaos of destruction, but it still counts, right?
Yes, you might look at it and think, “45cm? That doesn’t seem long enough, there are 60cm options available…surely that’d be much more manly?” and you’d not be wrong. But my missus says what I’ve got is ample, and she thinks anything more would be too long.

It’s reduced hours of work with a pair of shears AND loppers to mere minutes. Sure, I still need the loppers for the thicker branches, at least until I’m allowed a chainsaw, but those are few and far between.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to use for everyone due to its lightweight operation. It’s a little shorter than our previous trimmer but that hasn’t made too much of a difference. The real boon is in the comfort of handling because it’s so light. Makes life easier, and safer, for those lacking a little in strength. Cuts a treat, but it’s new so should do.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersFor the price this hedge trimmer is good. Easy to use and nice ergonomic handle.

My only gripe is the cable really is very short. So short in fact, that with an extension lead at the bottom, you can barely get to the top of a step ladder without running out of length. A couple more metres would’ve made this 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery impressed indeed with the performance of this hedge cutter. I’ve used many different types from petrol to cordless and electric, also many different brands and I would say this is the best. I find it’s not too heavy and it’s compact and balanced, the blade isn’t too long. Reasonable length of lead but obviously an extension lead will be needed in most cases. I have a 100 foot garden with 5 large fir trees along one side cut like a hedge, I have just used the cutter and it has taken me 15 minutes to trim and tidy up the untidy bits sprouting out of the trees ( I was just quoted 240 for someone to do this for me), needless to say I’m very impressed with this tool and strongly recommend it. Great value for money.

My old trimmer (same model) was OK until the hand grip kept sticking, making it very dangerous to use. So I’m hoping this one will be better and last longer. I can find no mention of guarantee – is there one? It’s not what I would call lightweight but I knew that because of the old one. But I’d suggest that people with weak arms should think twice before buying this unless they’ve got someone to do the work for them!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this item to replace my old Black and Decker cutters, the blades of my old one needed replaced and it was going to cost nearly as much as a new set of cutters so I decided to go for Bosch as I have other Bosch Products. It arrived quite quickly and such a difference, my hedges were cut in no time, so far I am not disappointed with any of my Bosch electrical tools. The price would have been about the same if I had used my over 60’s discount card in B & Q. I would recommend this hedge cutter to anyone.
