Bosch Professional 601217170 GSB 13 RE Corded 240 V Impact Drill, Navy Blue
Bosch Professional GSB 13 RE: Compact Powerful Impact Drill
The GSB 13 RE Professional impact drill from Bosch stands out because of its easy handling. With a length of less than 27 cm, a height of 18 cm and a weight of just 1.6 kg, it is a very compact tool. Despite its compact design, the GSB 13 RE Professional is a extremely powerful thanks to its 600 W motor, with sufficient power reserves for demanding drilling and screwdriving tasks. The drill is always comfortable to hold thanks to its ergonomic slimline design.
Comprehensive Accessories and Better Technical Data
The GSB 13 RE Professional is delivered with a comprehensive range of accessories. These include an additional handle and a depth stop. The technical specifications of the GSB 13 RE Professional are likewise impressive: With a rated power input of 600 W, this drill from Bosch Professional provides a power output of 301 W. It has a no-load speed of 0-2,800 (rpm), with an impact rate of 0-44,800 (bpm). As such, the drill is designed for a maximum drilling diameter of 13 mm in concrete, 15 mm in masonry and 25 mm in wood. The metal keyless chuck on the GSB 13 RE Professional can be used for drill bit diameters of 1.5 to 13 mm.
Highly User-Friendly
One of the advantages of the GSB 13 RE is that it is always comfortable to hold, even when used with only one hand. Firstly, the softgrip on the handle ensures comfortable handling. It makes certain that the impact drill will not slip out of the hand, even during complicated tasks under difficult conditions. Additionally, the impact drill is optimally balanced, meaning that it cannot deflect away when drilling, even when working on hard materials such as concrete. The integrated electronics with speed pre-selection and accelerator switch ensure optimal drilling results, even when tradespeople need to work with tiles or other delicate materials.

Power for Working in Difficult-to-Reach Areas
The small dimensions of the GSB 13 RE Professional from Bosch are a particular advantage when working in difficult-to-reach areas, because users of the GSB 13 RE can bring its power to bear in places where there would not be enough room for other impact drills. The drill bit can be changed in an instant thanks to the robust metal keyless chuck. Another advantage of the Bosch GSB 13 RE Professional is its high level of flexibility: The impact drill can also be used to drive screws, because the rotating brush plate provides the full power of the motor in both forward and reverse rotation.

Product was exactly as expected, powerful, light weight considering the power and easy to use
This is an excellent drill does exactly what it should, my old bosh drill that I have had for years finally gave up after the key less chuck gave up, however I decided to stick with a product that has served me well for years this one however is the professional brand and I must say so far I do prefer the key less chuck on this as it feels far more sturdy, did quite a bit of drilling in concrete garage wall and it did the job no problem I would highly recommend this product.
Bought it to put blinds on window. Haven’t been sure it will cope drilling in concrete above windows. I would say excellent all around drill. Enough strong for concrete. Lightweight and universal. Metal mount for drill bits easy to use. Remember to buy Bosch drills for concrete if you want to drill in walls. In few words universal, lightweight drill for everything. Priceless tool in household.
The drill is very good, woks perfectly haven’t had the chance to try the hammer function yet. Good value for money and does the job around the house
I bought this drill to fit in to a drill stand, I needed a drill with a collar ( where the handle fits! ), and this drill had the longest collar I could find, very suitable for what I wanted. You can’t buy battery drills with collars so a corded drill is the obvious choice.
The drill arrives in a cardboard box with a handle, depth stop, and and instruction book and that’s it.
Fairly heavy, but compact, this is a powerful drill. It’s just perfect for the drill stand.
Everything works as you would expect. It’s a very smooth and relatively quiet drill. One tiny disappointment is the cable. I would have expected a silicon cable for a drill of this quality. This one is just ordinary plastic, but it is a good length.
Very pleased with the purchase. It’s a very good quality item.
The price corresponds to the quality. A worthy gift to relatives and friends.
Only dislike, chuck a bit hit an miss. Otherwise as hoped.
The drill has a good range of torque for drilling into different materials. Only thing I found annoying was the keyless chuck. Loosened off a few times during hammer drilling so you have to really go for it when tightening the chuck.
Great drill.
No problem to drill through concrete.
Light and easy to use.
Would recommend
eeds 10 stars but they don’t allow that. works STRONG and powerful..i will buy another soon. hammer function and regular drill functions are flawless.
Had one of these for years before I turned to cordless. Which I’d keep this corded version.
These Drills are great useful tools.
Well as its a power drill I think I may drill some holes in things
For a DIY drill it’s good quality and does the job well. Pleasantly surprised since most tools are made to a price (as cheap as possible), happy to say Bosch have maintained their standards. Well Done Bosch and thanks to Campbell Miller Tools Ltd for a speedy service. One Caveat for the price tho, a plastic storage box would have been nice.
This is a very impressive tool, surprisingly small yet powerful enough to get plenty of work done.
This drill had little use at first as I bought a Bosch PSB 1800 LI-2 Cordless Combi Drill at the same time. As cordless is more convenient and that thing is a beast I have not needed this drill at all. Recently I have had the task of drilling a lot of holes into brick, something nearly all cordless drills struggle with, so out came the GSB 13. The house I was working in is a Victorian house and Victorian bricks are much denser and harder than modern house bricks, so a really good drill is needed; this thing proved well up to the task.
I had misgivings about buying drills with key-less chucks as they have a reputation for letting go of drill bits during heavy drilling tasks, but there have been no problems. If I ever have that kind of trouble I will come back and edit my review, but so far no problems with either of the Bosch key-less chucks I have. I found this one very awkward at first but it became easier to operate as I grew used to it.
I found the drill easy to control. The trigger allowed me to regulate the speed very well, and the speed limiter let me lock the drill down to a lower speed to avoid overheating drill bits. All the controls are easy to use and I didn’t have any problems with slippage or accidental movement. I did find the action on the switch for the hammer drill mode a little vague, and the same goes for the direction control. The direction control is used to reverse direction for use as a powered screwdriver, and it has a middle position that can lock the drill so bits can safely be changed without unplugging the drill.
Because that switch has such a vague action I quickly stopped trusting the locked position and instead uplugged each time. I might change that habit when I grow used to the drill but I would definitely prefer it if each of the three positions had a solid click-in. The vagueness of those switches is the one flaw in this drill, a minor one but certainly a flaw. I really hope Bosch put it right in future versions.
The other great feature of this drill is that it is very small for such a powerful drill. It is considerably smaller and lighter than the previous mains-powered drill I used, but also more powerful. This is particularly useful when working in confined spaces like cupboard interiors.
When I registered for the three year warranty I was very surprised to see what Bosch provide. There are disassembly diagrams for the tools you register and spare parts can be bought once the tool is out of warranty. Not only that but the spare part prices are actually reasonable! In addition I looked around the web site and found spare parts for power drills discontinued 25 years ago. That’s proper backup for customers and gives me great confidence in my Bosch tools.
I consider this drill to be a bargain. It was more than twice the price of the last mains drill I owned but worth every penny.
Great Easy to use
No chuck needed
Good power and torque for larger diameter long holes inc concrete
Powerful corded drill. multi variable speed with hammer action. Not too heavy and easy to handle. the only drawback is the keyless metal chuck which is difficult to grip to do up and undo.
This is a great drill, makes light work of the walls in my house. It’s capable of drilling through an external wall with ease. Would recommend.
Quality product! Perfect around the house for small and big jobs!
Light and powerful for its size. Good chuck. Drills 5mm smoothy into concrete.
Nice lightweight machine with plenty of power. I like the fact it’s not huge and is easy to store in a tool box where space is at a premium. It doesn’t come with a storage case, which for me is ideal, as these can take up a lot of space unnecessarily.
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this for light duty work.
It is lighter, smoother and easier to use the keyless chuck than my 400wtt Bosch predecessor.
Really pleased with this drill
Good all round drill. It’s good for driving wood screws or for drilling masonry. The chuck is good, and bits don’t seem to slip any. Only downside is that the red slider on the top for hammer or drill is easy to knock accidentally.
Quick delivery and well packaged. I bought the Professional Bosch as I needed to drill into some stone and wanted to make an easy job of it. A great choice as it turned out. No problems with stone. With a metal chuck you can feel the difference when you tighten it up. Variable speed setting on the trigger and reversible also.
Good bit of kit for the price. Don’t be put off by the price, this is a top notch DIY drill, or occasional use pro drill too.
This is possibly the best drill i have ever owned, it just oozes quality, yes it’s quite weighty but feels like it will last a long time.
Good drill for the price, but does not hold constant speed under load.
I like that is it compact and has a good length power cable. Used it with a paddle mixer to mix self levelling compound.
Pretty good and compact, I also got the box for it Bosch 2605438607, it’s huge but you can fill it up with drills and stuff
Fed up with cheap and low quality drills that don’t last five minutes so decided to give this a try. Solid build quality but compact and light, so great for drilling joists for cables. Best hammer action on any non SDS drill I’ve used, okay for wall plugs, so can save my SDS for conduit and cable holes. Metal chuck is easy to use and has a positive action. Slow start function is great and you can regulate the maximum speed as well
Doesn’t get hot even with prolonged use, heat is the enemy of anything electrical, the hotter it gets the shorter the life which is why cheap drills run hot. No case, but Bosch do a special one to fit it (Part 2605438607), Amazon stock it.
So to sum up a high quality drill which is light and easy to use. It should be reliable, you can extend the 1 year guarantee to 3 years by registering it at the Bosch professional website and commercial use is NOT excluded, so Bosch must be pretty confident.
only used it a couple of time but has done what i asked it to very pleased
Good tool, worth spending a little extra to get the ‘blue’ professional range from this reliable German manufacture
Great drill and smaller than I expected. The chuck runs true, so bits don’t wobble unlike cheaper drills.
Having owned a green Bosch drill before, the blue one has better quality. Used it already for small diy jobs, works really well
I wept tears of joy when i used this – turns out i was drilling into my hand.
It’s great, i’m very pleased with it. Bosch wins again!
EDIT: It’s been a year since I bought this and it’s been so handy for many DIY jobs. I have to say though, I wouldn’t recommend it with the screwdriver attachments for Bosch drills (this drill does have a drill vs hammer setting), as it spins just a little too fast even on the slowest setting. It means you CAN screw in screws, certainly faster than doing it by hand, but you’ve got to be careful and really take it easy.
It does a fair job of mixing with a mixer attached to it (for e.g. plaster)!
Overall, I feel very safe using it; the plastic graduated stick helps gauge the desired drilling depth; there’s no batteries to worry about charging so long as you are close to an outlet or have an extension cord, and it’s a nice, versatile piece of dependable equipment.
Excellent quality, usually buy green bosch products which are non-pro. The metal keyless chuck is great, very grippy machined surface making it easy to tighten – clicks when done. Came in a cardboard box only. The depth stop is plastic and a bit bendy – the only bit that lets it down the kit, though I hardly use it anyway. Size is nice and compact, making is easy to hold with accuracy in tight spots.
I like, did not use much, however is not professional.
he best electric drill I have ever bought. A sham there is no carrying box.
A functional and well designed tool that does what is asked of i
just get 1! ! have used this drill day in day out for 3 months. small, light wait, powerful and comes with a hard plastic case and set of free drillbits! as a electrition i use this tool for drilling joists with a core bits up to 36mm! i have also used it for a drill powered pump and mixing plaster it never misses a beat, dose not get hot and has a really nice feel to the handles!… this is a better drill than my 250 Fat Max SDS!
The GSB 13 RE is an excellent piece of kit, chosen because its features suit my needs. One irritation is that it doesn’t come with a storage case. Looking around, I did notice that the 110V version of this drill does. I checked the specs for that version, and found a BOSCH reference number for the case (2-605-438-607). Not entirely sure that case would suit this model, I invested in one. That case is the well suited to this drill: Right size and is contoured just about ideally for it. With shaped spaces to keep drill, auxiliary handle and depth stop stored securely and safely when not in use or while being carried. There is also space for a small set of accessories of course. Because of the hinge, the box does lean back slightly if I stand it on its side but that should be no problem with normal use.
Early days but this GSB 13 RE seems to be as good as I expected, and the case completes the set.
This is typically Bosch: strong, well-engineered, reliable and easy to use.
The keyless chuck takes a little practice the first time you use it, as most folk like a chuck key, but with this model that’s one thing you can’t lose, anyway. Changing the drill or screwdriver bit involves holding one part of the bezel whilst unscrewing the other. There’s a satisfying click when it’s locked on, so there’s no fiddling about wondering if it’s tight enough.
The Drill comes with a depth stop which you can use to prevent accidentally drilling deeper than you ought – a very useful addition for the practically challenged, such as me. It’s also comfortable to hold and use.
I’ve now used it to drill wood and concrete and it accomplished both easily. It comes only in a cardboard box, but that box is fairly strong and I use it to store the drill when not in use. It’s also supplied with a side handle, making drilling steadily fairly straightforward.
I bought it as a replacement for a Black and Decker hammer drill and so far it’s faster, quieter and more efficient than the old one and bits don’t fall out any more…
