We hated the sound on our TV but this has totally improved our viewing experience. Excellent sound quality. Also great for playing music from my phone via Bluetooth. Was a great Black Friday buy but I would have been happy with it even if I had paid full price
Easy to install. Sound makes you feel like you’re in your own cinema. Bose never dissappoint!
Easy to setup sound quality of the product is amazing
Very pleased, has improved the quality of the sound and controlable with tv remote control
Looks good & sits nicely on my tv stand. Good volume for sky stuff & gaming.
Easy to setup and use sounds great gave 4 stars as I think bose will always be beaten value wise . However I am happy paying for there quality cheers
It really does add to the sounds quality when watching TV.
Usual Bose sound quality and product build.
It can be very hard to hear speech so you might have to make adjustments.
But worth buying for the quality.
There is absolutely nothing to dislike regarding this little beauty. I have the larger 500 downstairs and have had it a few years, it is still as good as new and that is exactly why I bought the 300 and the sound from such a compact unit is unbelievable when you compare it to your built in Tv sound.
great sound bar, fits well under the TV and the sound is fantastic (vs the old goodmans we had)
Bought as a Christmas present for my son and the sound is great and so easy too use.
Great product and certainly improved the sound quality. It’s a shame that you cannot see the volume adjustment on the tv screen.
I compared quite a few soundbars within my 300 budget before buying this make and model. This won hands down in performance against other more expensive units and the price left me quids in. Now I just have to convince her indoors to live somewhere else so I can use it to its full potential without the ever present cry of, “Will you turn that down”!
Everything is good apart from the volume button reacts slowly but this is a very small issue and should not dissuade you from pruchasing.
Neat and tidy on the front of my TV with excellent sound reproduction without deafening the neighbours. Well worth the investment.
No need for the big woofer box, as other makes, with adequate base for a TV programmes that I watch. Do you really need to shake the foundations of the house while watching TV?
Absolutely superb quality and great for voice in movies, really is exactly what I needed to fit under my Sharp Tv, which has poor speakers. Strongly recommended.
This sounds great and looks good as well for size of speaker you couldn’t ask for much more
Just brilliant sound box; works really well and connection by optical fibre means the best signal is transferred. Only slight grumble is that I would like a better indication of volume and state the unit is in.
Needed a compact sound bar to fit my stand. This is nice and compact but still packs a nice punch of sound for a small bar.
This bose is absolutely brilliant. My husband has Hearing problems but can hear every word with tge Bose soundba
What a difference this has made, i can hear the tv dialogue like im 18 again.
Its not fancy , no network, no gimmicks, just an excellent, budget friendly simple soundbar that makes tv a joy again.
Hands down, it’s the best thing i’ve bought in a long time.
Thank you Bose.
Wanted a fantastic sound bar that enhanced voice clarity but doesn’t break the bank and still delivers good enough sound for movies. This sound bar exceeds my expectations and delivered what I wanted.
i brought this to support audio for samsung tv as the audio isnt great as most modern tvs seem to suffer with.my only issue is you cant see on the tv what the bass level is or the sound level, apart from that its grea
With the speech enhancement feature, suddenly you can hear all the dialogue in the big blockbuster movies. Wish I’d bought one years ago! In addition you still have the depth of sound and strong bass.
My wife has some hearing problems and finds it difficult to hear clearly the spoken word from the tv. Now we are using this product the sound has improved vastly and it is one of the best purchases we have made.
I looked at various sound bars and I have always trusted Bose for good sound and quality. Upon looking at reviews I decided that this was all we needed for our bedroom tv. If it was the main room I’d probably look at the 300 or 500. I have just bought a new 4k tv for upstairs, but decided that the sound was too tinny and needed a boost.
The Bose certainly lives up to my expectation and for the size it give clear speech and although not the 300, the baby of Bose sound bars is a big improvement on the Bose Solo range and massively improves on the sound from the tv.
The build quality is excellent and looks much more expensive than it is.
If you are looking for a movie all singing all dancing sound bar then look at the 500 or 700, or even a Sonos, but for what I needed as a smaller room sound bar, this really delivers.
Easy to set up and a great sound. Really enhances viewing.
Its bose just buy it..
I would recommend you get the base speaker to…
I own a bose solo 5 sound bar so knew the quality I’d get buying another bose sound bar and I’m not disappointed. This really does fill the room with quality sound and the bass is decent as well. It’s not going to shake pictures off the wall but it is a really rich deep bass. No complaints from me at all.
All of the sound quality you’d expect from a bose product, with the added clarity of the speech when you use the dialogue boost function.
More expensive than similar sized speakers, but worth every penny.
Great compact soundbar, works great using hdmi ARC, great sound as you would expect from Bose.. yes it’s expensive but worth it.
Arrived in box that would have fitted six of these products but that’s down to Amazon and not Bose. After unpacking and plugging in, it was operating in seconds without any other intervention from me. Much better sound than my Samsung QLED TV, Bluetooth works with equal ease, very pleased.
Great sound and very easy to set up. A lot of the reviews are saying that you can’t see the volume level……. Well! …….. I am using mine with a 2 year old Sony Bravia and its connected via the ARC hdmi socket. I can see level of Bose speaker when changing volume….. See photo…. This does not show if connected just by the optical cable. My only gripe is the teeny weeny tiny light which changes colour when changing bass sound or speach clarity, I personally can’t see it from 3 metres away. The speach clarity function works a treat, love it. Hope this was helpful.
Bought in error but fitted it anyway. Very happy with the quality sound from this compact unit. Recommended.
So I bought this in 2020 and thought I’d posted a review?!….
I purchased this to use in bedroom to boost TV speakers as I watch TV at night and the Clear Voice setting on my other speaker is brilliant for late night tele. This connects via HDMI or optical, using hdmi cec you can control speaker with TV remote, or with the supplied remote control for speaker, it’s simple, small and a few buttons so in a few uses you don’t even need to look at the remote.
Tonight I decided to plug this speaker to TV in lounge (I don’t know why, 6 westons cider might explain it) and I cannot believe how incredible it sounds, the attached photo is this speaker sitting atop my ST300 which is connected to 2 wireless satellite speakers and the sub, first off I immediately noticed sounds pinging from around me (something I’ve taken for granted with bose surround sound) but coming from this small speaker!! It’s an absolute joy to listen to as a stand alone sound bar. Don’t expect thumping sub bass but it’s fantastically bassey on its own and excellent mids and highs and volume is as loud as you’d need, Vocals are crisp and clear, I’m honestly thinking about disconnecting my ST300 setup and just running it as a sound bar again for a bit to experience this again on a bigger scale.
For 240 quid I don’t know how you won’t be utterly impressed!! Not dolby atmos but who cares unless you have a home cinema.
Sound is so clear, makes a big difference. Wish I’d bought it earlier.
Pros
Noticeable upgrade from Solo 5
Nice boxy (compressed) cinema Sound (no surround)
Perfect for bedroom or average semi detached lounge size
Well built and easy to assemble
Arc control (goes on and off , controllable by tv)
Excellent clarity, speech mode is the best there is from my experience, so excellent for people that have trouble discerning it.
One of the best tuned bass ports I’ve heard at this size, hums without being over bearing, obviously dependant on room size and shape. (Able to adjust bass level)
A sub can be added , but I wouldn’t recommend that for the sorts of rooms this is likely going to find itself in, mainly because it will ruin sound quality in smaller rooms (bass frequency will kill the upper ones) But also be nice to the rest of the family and your neighbours!
Cons
Not a con but expect to use this in smaller rooms or the compressor will become noticeable.
Harsh compressor effect (a compressor limits dynamic range to stop volume boosts and distortion) loud sounds will start to make a pumping / breathing sound effect at high volumes. Negligible for most use cases, I.e. constantly having the volume at max.
2.0 system so no surround , while a much bigger stereo field than solo 5, it’s still very narrow , expected at this size though , so be relistic with your expectations. However better than a half baked surround effect all Soundbar have at this price which is normally little more than a reverb effect and will wash away voices.
Very good for music , but because of the voicing , more suited for TV and Film.
Conclusion
Sound is effected strongly by room size and shape and where your TV is situated. So mileage may vary.
Overall I think this Soundbar , while expensive , is priced well for the performance you get.
It doesn’t have a very big stereo field but that’s expected at this size , plus it is only a 2.0 system. I have the large original SoundTouch 300 unit with the glass top, which has a pseudo surround which throws the sound much wider and is very effective , think the 700 is the equivalent today. But you will pay three times this.
Music sounds very nice , but because of the way it is voiced and the heavy compression , it has a much more closed boxy (in a good way for tv and movies) sound , so you’ll get much better dynamics from a midrange dedicated stereo system. Then again it is stereo which most Bluetooth speakers are not, so swings and roundabouts.
This is a Soundbar aimed at bedrooms and smaller lounges with excellent clarity , while you don’t get the booms a dedicated sub unit will give you, it’s the best I’ve heard at this size by a long way, I much prefer it to the Yamaha units even with the subs.
Don’t expect surround at this size , if a bar has a ‘surround effect’ it is normally at the expense of clarity so don’t be sucked in. Better a quality 2.0 system than a rubbish surround effect to try and negate the 2.0.
This is a quality not quantity unit that is reasonably priced for the quality you get, hats off to Bose , this is a clear upgrade from the Solo 5 and addresses all of the Solo 5s shortcomings, even has slightly more stereo field.
Most of the expense seems to have gone into dsp (digital processing) to great effect. The bass port has been tuned and doesn’t interfere with the rest of the frequency range , as long you don’t mount it close to the wall so the bass port gets to do its job effectively.
Highly recommended!
Got fed up using subtitles on badly recorded UK programmes.
Apart from the overall sound being warm and forward, the effect it has on speech is it’s best feature. A winner all the way.
Not very bassy but that ain’t a problem for me. Looks good too.
A typical classy Bose product.
Bought this Bose TV speaker as we were struggling to hear some voices, especially, but not exclusively on US programs – police dramas (& Vera). We have an extremely good Samsung 40″ TV, a few years old now and Sony surround sound (minus one speaker as one of the cats had chewed through the cable). We didn’t believe both of us were suddenly going deaf, but it was very frustrating to be unable to hear certain words and phrases. This bar is terrific. Once we realised the Sky and Blue Ray players needed to be plugged into the HDMI sockets at the back of the TV, (the huge Sony woofer had originally housed them), it was very simple. Even without the vocal enhancement on, the sound is SO much clearer.
We also added the Bose Base Module 500, which utterly compliments the system. (why is the light showing its on, out of sight at the back?) Simply turning up the volume, which is much greater through the module, let’s know its on. The sound, when playing music from my phone, a Galaxy S9 is terrific, very easy and is similar quality and clarity I get when playing eg Fleetwood Mac very loudly through the iPod and Bose sound system in my car. The depth is there, treble and vocals too.
We may, one day, upgrade the speaker bar and add surround sound speakers, when we can protect the cables from the kits. Otherwise, we are impressed by how much tidier the front of the TV looks, with just one discrete bar and not 3 of the 5 Sony, very small, speakers which lived there before.
Base module is again discrete and simple in appearance and very pleasing to the eye. Well done Bose.
Playing music via Bluetooth is ultra easy.
Switching back to TV sound is by simply pressing one button on the small and simple remote.
Blue ray discs sound great, as we’d expected. Adjusted the lip-sync minimally via the Sky sound settings to bring fully into alignment.
Would recommend.
Replaced a Sony TV soundbar with this Bose soundbar and the difference in sound quality was huge. Much easier to pick out dialogue. Also no need for a separate sub woofer as the sound bar has plenty of bass built in. Very quick and easy to install too.
I can imagine people being disappointed with this if they are expecting a sound bar with all the normal settings.
However if you have a TV where the speakers are not very good this effectively moves the internal speakers to the front of the set.
There is a dialogue setting, one press on the controller which boosts speech frequencies and works well particularly in seperating the dialogue from back ground music.
There is a base control which gives very limited increase/decrease in the base level.
Overall it does give an increase in audio quality and I found it was a sufficient improvement over the TV speakers to make it worth while.
Installation was very straight forward I connected the power supply, and used a HDMI lead between the TV’s ARC output so the TV’s remote also controls the volume and on/off of the Bose.
I use it mainly for a Sky Q Box via the TV.
You don’t realise how flat your TV speakers are until you connect this sound-bar. It provides such a deep rich sound backed by bass. It’s easy to connect and the remote control is really neat with a handy dialogue boost button to heighten the sound even further. I would definitely buy it again!
Brilliant just what i was looking for as i was struggling to hear the speech during a film, this soundbar cures the problem and you can switch it back to normal when playing music through your TV. Its the best all round soundbar for the money as you would expect from Bose as they only make quality products. Some people said there is no LED to show changes but this is not BOSE style , whats there is simple and perfectly adequate .
No dislikes. Easy to set up. Provides that rich Bose sound.
Bought as a replacement for a failed speaker, so a distress purchase. It’s much better than the previous versio
I bought this for our second TV in our office and have been amazed at the sound quality and is the ideal answer if a cinema system is too complex.
I should know as we have that in our main living room.
As above, Great Quality Soundbar with more than enough bass. I dont know what people are talking about with the lack of bass with this speaker. It will really depend on your source. Some sources can sound flat whilst other sources sound supurb!!
Listening to music via apple music app on apple tv sounds great. but some of my concert video’s can sound a little flat. That has nothing to do with the output of the speaker and more to do with the compression of the music. I have not tried bluetooth as i have no need as eveything sounds better streamed via airplay or via other wireless means. Music sounds rich, whilst televison and movies sound great. Great Stuff
I linked my tv and Sky Q to the Bose tv speaker
The sound is great and very easy to connec
Superb soundbar. Enhances TV speaker sound extremely well and the dialogue facility is a real bonus. Does not produce cinematic sound but that is not what it is designed for. Great for living room/lounge TV viewing.
