Purchased this impact drive as I had to build a decking 4.2m x 3.6m in our back garden. Didn’t want to pay large prices for fancy names but wanted something that would do the job. I got this and as soon as I started building I knew it was a quail it’s product. Fits nicely in your hand and doesn’t weigh a lot so easy to use. If you are thinking about buying this for using in a trade I would probs get the bigger battery but for smaller jobs this is so ideal. Noise rating I would say it’s quieter than some impact drivers I’ve used in the past but it’s an impact driver it’s not going to be silent. I have put in hundreds of screws now since owning this product and would highly recommend it! Good quality purchase and very happy with its performance. Check out the photos on this review – don’t think the dog approved on it though

Great Impact driver for the average DIY job

The impact driver does the job used it to put in wooden support surrounds for a driveway, made the job alot easier. the tool has great quality and is easy to use with a light and usable switches, the battery last along time. The screw bits that are also supplied are a bit soft.

I’ve had this for a while now and it deals with any tough job.
I have used it for smaller jobs like screwing in smaller things and the larger jobs like screwing sleepers togethes.

Battery life is very good, I charge it once every so often. On the whole this is a solid tool

I found using this impact driver very easy. It’s small in hand but handles well giving amazing performance. I’m a diy person so cannot comment on tradesmen performance but I will give it plenty of use. I think the light that glows when you switch the machine on isn’t necessary and will probably run the battery down. And I do wish it came with two batteries. But for 70 what a bargain.

Bought this to build some decking in my garden and wanted an impact driver for the coach screws. Thought i would grab a cheaper one for the job and its honestly not been a problem to use and its great! The M8 100mm screws flew in and i managed to get 120 screwed in before the battery needed charged again. My recommendation is to get a second battery if you are buying one.

Great addition to my drill set as it does certain jobs better than my normal handheld drill. Bought a impact driver based on YouTube recommendations and I was taken aback by the power with this light drill. To be fair, the YouTube videos talk about proper branded ones like Makita etc., but the price difference is huge and for my use, this is really well made and I am really happy with it.

I will be using it for other stuff from now on and highly recommend it to others.

This is the 4th or 5th Wesco tool that I have had the opportunity to use and once again, I have been impressed with the balance that Wesco strike between performance, functionality, build quality and value. If you already have a Wesco cordless tool and want an impact driver, this really is a no-brainer as it shares the same battery platform and performs well.

I recently put it to the test on a decking project and it did everything that I asked of it having sufficient power and torque to drive in the decking screws time after time, board after board. The tool has a nice semi-rubberised drip and is well balanced in the hand. The little light in the base fires upwards to illuminate your work area which is a nice touch. My only real complaint is that the supplied 2Ah battery is a bit stingy for a tool of this sort as driving tasks can be very demanding. I was able to hot swap the battery with another that I have when it depleted so was able to continue working, if you intend to use this for larger jobs it is advisable to have at least one spare battery as you are unlikely to deplete one in the time that it takes a second to recharge. Impact drivers are pretty noisy in use, not a tool to bust out at 7am on a Sunday morning but I did not find this product more or less noisy than others that I have used.

I like the charger which is a nice compact design and does not take up a lot of room, it charges at a decent rate but is not what you would call fast. The supplied sockets and bits were a nice touch, not the best quality but enough to get you up and running if you do not have any in your collection. I am not a fan of soft cases as they offer very little protection but at least they are compact and easy to use with the ability to throw in other small tools when tackling a job.

Overall then, this is a very decent tool and delivers good performance and value. If you have other Wesco tools, just buy it, I am sure that it will not disappoint but if you are looking for the ultimate impact driver, there are better products out there but do be prepared to open your wallet a lot wider to secure them.

If you do repairs to you own car, an impact driver can make life easier. Most people think impact drivers only work on wheel nuts but you can use them on things like suspension, steering and general DIY, especially anything with long bolts.

The driver is rated to 180Nm which should be ok for most uses on cars. Jut remember to check the fixing with a proper torque wrench when finished, especially on critical areas.

There is only one speed setting but a variable trigger helps.
The bit are held in a 1/4 quick release check but I would have preferred a 1/2 mount. The driver comes with some bits/sockets but you’ll need to buy larger one. Don’t forget to but bits that are impact driver rated.

A 2Ah batter should be enough for most users but if you plan on using all day, a 5ah battery could be better.

If you have never used an impact drill it is very different and you have less control over how tight you do things up but for fitting door frames or removing old bolts with ease they work well.

Many online videos showing the use of impact drills.

The drill ships with the battery already fitted which seems a little odd and comes with a basic charger (they do several tools using the same battery / chargers but don’t seem to be on sale as a bare tool (if you already have a charger and battery).

The battery also has no charge level gauge and it seems to just go from working well to just no longer working.

The electronics in the handle look a little exposed to the elements so I would avoid getting it wet.

WESCO 18V 2.0Ah Cordless Impact Drill Driver with 21 Accessories
At first, I wondered about the durability of this impact driver, I had reservations about the quarter-inch hexagonal output coping with larger accessories like impact sockets. However, having used the tool for several tasks, my apprehension has proved to be unfounded.
I thought I would jump in at the deep end, so to speak, by using the WESCO impact driver on the wheel-nuts of my Qashqai. I remember, having changed a wheel on this a while back, that the nuts were quite tough to undo. The WESCO impact driver made easy work of this task, it did take a few blows from the impact mechanism before the nuts were loose but that’s how impact drivers work. After the initial task with the wheel-nuts I had little doubt about the impact driver’s capabilities so I set about driving some 5mm woodscrews into an oak beam I have in my workshop. This was no challenge for the tool’s capabilities. I drilled small pilot holes for the first few screws and they went in very smoothly. I tried the next screws without pilot holes, although the impact driver had to work a bit harder it still managed the task with ease. The screws I used have a Torx head so there is no likelihood of any slipping one of the screws hit a hard patch in the wood and the impact driver sheared it off like it was made of butter. That is maybe the only thing to be wary of when using the WESCO impact driver, it has oodles of power so you need to take care when driving screws home.
Despite being quite powerful, the WESCO impact driver is comfortable to hold and not unduly heavy and the two amp hour battery provides quite long working time before needing to be recharged.
The WESCO impact driver is certainly a powerful, versatile and very useful tool to add to your workshop. It has a quarter-inch hexagonal output drive which makes it compatible with so many tool bits and accessories. I got a set of quarter-inch hexagonal adapters to use with the impact driver which allows me to use square drive sockets of 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch drives and 1/2-inch, a very useful addition for this impact driver.

This impact wrench has been well and truly tested whilst building a 14′ x 8′ timber workshop in our back garden, first of all, this tool looks and feels like quality, I have a Makita brushless impact wrench at work that is bells and whistles but is twice the price plus and this WESCO wrench fits just as good in the hand. It has a quick-release chuck that is commonplace with impact wrenches.

The tool comes with a nice kit bag complete with bits and charger, the bag is nicely made with a zip fastener.

There is only one battery supplied with this tool, two would be nice but would ramp the cost up, the batteries are only 2Ah compared to more powerful pro tools that are now running at 5Ah, on the first charge the Wesco battery seem to die fairly quickly but this is normal with a new Li-ion battery. The battery has no charge level LEDs on it and I feel this would be a nice addition. The battery is fully charged in around 1 hour from flat which is fairly quick for a cheaper tool. Strangely I found a Worx 20volt Max Li-Ion battery fitted the tool and worked fine with no detrimental effect.

The LED work light is bright and stay illuminated for a few seconds after the trigger is released, a very nice feature found on much more expensive tools.

The impact wrench tackled 4″ screws with ease, what I would say is forget the supplied bits, they are very soft and don’t last long in such powerful tools, the sockets are OK but again they may not be the best, I have a tub of WellCut bits made for impact wrenches and these along with this WESCO wrench powered through the building of the workshop.

One thing I did notice was the trigger control was a little vague, when starting a screw I like to gently pull the trigger so it starts slow and then builds up the speed with the trigger, this Wesco seemed to be a little unpredictable when doing this, sometimes starting too fast or jumping on start-up, sometimes quite worryingly starting in reverse when in forward?? Comparing with the Makita this is quite strange as the Makita is constant with no fuss.

This tool uses a brushless motor this will be extended the serviceable life of the tool and makes a more compact tool, it also increases the power of the tool compared to brushed motors, less moving parts = longer life.

I great kits for keeping around the house, has bags of power (too much in some situations) and feels and looks good quality.

Review for Brushless Impact Driver, WESCO 18V 2.0Ah Cordless Impact Drill Driver with 21 Accessories,180 Nm,0-3600bpm, Drill Chuck 6.35mm (1/4 inch), 2-Gear Shift, with Belt Clip, Battery and Charger,WS2320.

I have and have reviewed several Wesco tools and continue to be impressed with them compared to other brands I own, this being more of the same. Compared to my current brush motor driver this is in a different class, the much lower noise levels and more power from the battery is great. I recently had to fix a fence posts and cross pieces together requiring extra long driver wood screws. My combi drill struggled to either fully drive or kept having slippage, this made easy work of them, due to the hex bit. Although you get a set of common driver bits provided I opted for a proper set of impact driver bits to properly test the tools capabilities. The compact nature of the driver makes for efficient work especially in confined spaces. Comes battery + charger built in belt clip for carrying as well as soft storage pouch. Overall a well priced brushless cordless impact driver.

I like this compact driver, it has a strong and robust feel. Although it is pretty heavy, which does put a strain on your wrist if using for prolonged duration. Having used this a fair amount the battery life is ok for 18v. But may benefit from larger or prolonged battery life. Having only 1 battery isn’t ideal. Overall a strong product, which is comfortable to sue with good hand grip. Comes with a handy bag to store charger and accessories in keeping it all dust free.

Good product but a little heavy

This is an excellent Impact driver. It is better built and just as powerful than the brand name one I have been using for a while. I tested it (see pic) by driving some Tek screws through a 1.5mm galvanised skin into a 3mm beam, and they went in no danger.
Also great value for money. Buying other brands would only get you the body only at this price point. But this comes with battery, (charges from flat in under an hour) charger, a great range of bits/sockets and a nice bag to carry it in.

    Makes an impact.

I am wowed by this impact driver, this thing is powerful!

The brushless motor is great and I haven’t had a situation where this drive has failed me yet. Even when I doubted that it would be up to the task the Wesco drive has proven me wrong.

I have mostly used it for woodwork, but I had to put in some bolt into masonry and this impact driver did not break a sweat.

As a DIY tool it is fantastic, I would worry about the weight if I needed to use it for extended period, as it is on the heavy side. I can’t comment on the battery life as I haven’t used it for a long enough session to completely drain the batter.

Lastly being over 100, I would have expect a nicer case, throwing in a soft carrying bag seems like an after though.

First thing to establish is the name which, isn’t well known, at least in the UK. I did a quick bit of Googling and found that Wesco is an own brand owned and produced by Positec, a Chinese company that makes/made tools for other brand name owners as well as it’s own under the name Rockwell and Worx. Rockwell is sold in the US in big box stores and Worx is sold there and here in the UK.

WESOCO is I believe their attempt to move into the good quality but value for money battery tool market inhabited by the likes of Ryobi, Bosch, Black and Decker (AKA DeWalt) etc. By the looks of it in direct comparison the price point is a little lower which, of course is the bit that will grab people’s attention.

So, first off the bat, comparing this Wesco tool to the newer (and more pricey) Ryobi gear without a doubt the quality is similar. Maybe even a tad better. And I love Ryobi regardless of what the detractors might say. I’ve been a marine engineer for decades and used and abused every tool under the sun and Ryobi is in my opinion the best bang for buck power tool on the market. Yes, the likes of Makita is better but not double the price better. People pay big money for Milwaukee not realising that it’s a tool owned and made by the same Hong Kong manufacturer in the same factory. You pay a lot for that red case… Bottom line is that price vs quality vs longevity is a balance.

The materials used in this tool are very good. A quick knife test demonstrated that the case is PA6 glass fibre impregnated plastic which, is very hard wearing.

The drive end casing is alloy not plastic and the whole tool has a sense of quality about it.

It’s brushless too which, slightly shortens the overall length and makes it balance in the hand better. A brushless motor is more efficient as well, although in my opinion not so much that I’d pay a huge premium over a brushed tool for my use. I’d save the money and buy two batteries.

Still, it’s brushless for no more money than some brushed tools so a big positive there.

To use it works very well indeed. Loads of power despite the rather small battery – more of that later – and operates with a positive action with plenty of ability to drive in large screws easily. See vid.

The design is understated and professional looking and beats my Early Learning Centre lurid lime coloured Ryobi collection.

Now, the two negatives, one of which is the battery mentioned before. The biggest problem overall with Wesco and this tool is the battery or rather the lack of an additional range of batteries to build up a reserve. This tool comes with a small 2Ah battery unit which, is fairly normal for a packaged tool. However, unlike other brands I can’t find extra batteries to buy and that’s a big negative. All I can see is 2Ah batteries that come included with the tool and no means of adding powerpacks if you want spares.

I would imagine that if the tool picks up traction with people Wesco will increase the range of tools and add secondary battery support but right now that’s not the case.

The other thing is the charging unit. It’s really low rent. It’s a cheap clip over charging cap not a base unit as used my most other manufacturers, and that gives the impression of cheapness the tool does not deserve. I guess to meet the price point Wesco have to make some sacrifices and this is one. Once again I suspect that if these start to sell in reasonable numbers more options will be introduced. I will say that despite the less than pro feel of the charger is works fine and does have the advantage of being small and easy to stick in you tool bag.

Overall, this is an excellent tool easily well enough made to compete with far more expensive items but it is let down by lack of battery options and to a lesser extent a cheap charging cap. However, if you want at well made tool and don’t need a load of additional batteries for not much money, then this would be a good option.

Well Made - Couple of Niggles

If you are like me, then you are a tool obsessed lover, then this is one addition which you will be happy with.
I had a task to erect some shelves which are all nut and bolts, and frankly, my old hands would have needed a lot of moisturizers if I did the old fashioned way, ie socket set, and a spanner.
So we have here a powerful great to hold, and convenient multipurpose impact driver. Weight and balance are good, didn’t feel any ill effect after a session of use. The brushless motor is a minimum I would use for any power tool, and this is no exception and worked perfectly as expected. No horrible wine or noise above the normally expected sounds.
The battery is acceptable for the weight and handling, yes the bigger brands have these giant size batteries but I would class them as Pro-Level users. For us average Joes this is more than good enough.
I like the supplied bits, a good selection, and it just saves you to go hunt out them for an expensive additional which you would with other brands.
I see from others you can use another battery brand, so this is a bonus.
Like all toys tools, you now go find other things to use with. Very pleased with this unit, a welcomed addition to my shed.

Quick summary: high build quality and it’s performance is good enough. This won’t win any awards but it will get the job done.

    WESTCO:
Ive had the chance to review a few of their cordless tools now and one good thing has been common to all – a solid build quality. In those other reviews, one criticism I always had was, the tool is good – little to complain about BUT! not good enough to ditch whatever battery corporation you’ve been locked into.
While this impact driver isn’t anything special enough to answer that criticism by itself, the growing line of tools IS starting to make a case for investing into the Wesco brand. All good quality and decent pricing (with batteries) – with a line of tools growing to meet most standard tasks. it poses the question, is DeWalt or Makita worth the extra? In terms of build quality or pricing, I think that’s a no. If you need more from your tools, like a builder or some professional, maybe you need to stick with your brand. For hobbiest, DIYer and the like, Wesco is definitely worth looking at now.

    FORM & PERFORMANCE
It came with a little handbag, which for the more sensitive of us is a delightful little accessory to match our blue overalls. Also a set of drill bits (standard, not great), set of nut bits (magnetic to my surprise, might be useful) and charger/ 2Ah battery (slight disappointment, 4Ah would have been a win). Oh and also a belt clip – gotta love those belt clips (it’s no better than any of others that come with drills). The driver itself is solid, well built and simple with just a trigger, forward/reverse and auto lights.

Note, at first I thought it was defective as when I stuck a bit into the chuck/clip/holder thing, it just fell out. Turns out you have to pull the bit holder up, place the bit in and then release for it to click into place. Usually with those holders you just click it in and pull it to release. No problem, just different.

I didn’t have my DeWalt impact driver to hand to directly compare it to so had to make do with the combi (around 180+ with a battery). It performed just fine, probably not Leagues ahead of the combi when driving a screw in with an impact but it does well enough. I haven’t used it long enough to judge the battery life but, going by the other Wesco tools and that this is brushless, I would guess that the 2aH would provide a days medium duty work (e.g. building a shed). I like the Westco chargers, small simple and quick enough.

    OVERALL:
Now that they have more tools, more opportunities to get spare batteries – I would be happy to reccomend these to everyone below a builder/contractor/professional level of use. I think the build quality might be good enough for a pro – especially a leccy or plumber (less clumsy and demanding than builders 😉 ) and the performance would be sufficient, not legendary but will get the job done.

Making the case to buy Westco stronger.

As a dyed in the wool Makita man, I can honestly say that I am impressed with this impact driver.

It has the clout / torque to handle most jobs. For example today, I have been driving 4 inch masonry bolts into brick without any problems (using my own Torx bit) and also four inch screws into oak. The driver coped very well.

However, the supplied PZ2 bits just weren’t man enough for the job; I broke two of them on a dozen screws.

The only thing that I would have liked that isn’t included, is something to show ne the state of my battery. I have now just finished for the morning and have no idea whether the battery us 99% charged, or only 1% charged.

So, apart from the battery meter, I would happily recommend this, but do get yourself some decent impact bits as the supplied ones aren’t good enough.

This is my third Wesco cordless power tool in this range so I now have 3 chargers and batteries. First time I’ve managed to actually get tools that use a common battery.

This impact driver is a pretty standard design, and is well made and finished.

With the battery fitted it is not too heavy and nicely balanced. Worth noting that unlike my Bosch cordless drill inserting and removing the battery are very easy. Charging is a fairly fast affair, with the indicator light on the charger clearly showing when the battery is ready.

Controls are standard. A variable speed trigger and a push through button to select direction.
In common with the Wesco drill/driver there is an LED which illuminates the work, and stays on for a short while after the button in released.

Bits are fitted by sliding the sprung collar then inserting the bit which holds them firmly.

In use it made easy work of everything I tried. It effortlessly drove a 4″ screw deep into a 2×4, so much so that there was an inch of screw out the other side. Lacking in power it is not.

It comes complete with a selection of bits in the most common sizes and some sockets too. I’m not sure they are the best quality, but driver bits tend to be a disposable item anyway. I’m sure they will be good enough for a while. I have many spares.

There is also a soft case to hold everything in, with plenty of room for the drill, charger a spare battery and bits.

All in all this is another great Wesco tool. The pricing is again on the higher side for a ‘non name’ brand, but they appear to be well made, and work well.

I just need a cordless angle grinder to complete my set.

UPDATE: As expected the driver bits are not great quality, I got through 2 of them building one wooden planter.
The driver itself though is still working great and makes jobs much easier.

    Powerful driver.

This is a pretty good looking bit of kit and it feels good in the hand. It’s just like a typical cordless drill to hold and use with a little central switch to change the rotation direction and lock the power button. It seems to have plenty of power (the more you squeeze the trigger the faster it goes — in about five or six steps) and, as I’ve learned from watching countless YouTube videos of people working on old cars, is a boon when you need to persuade a reluctant nut or screw to come loose, and we’ve all come across those many times. After seeing those videos I knew I had to have one of these.

You get some good accessories. A set of screwdriver bits in both Phillips and Posidrive types. And a small socket set, with some duplicates (presumably in case they get worn out) from 6mm to 13mm. Nothing big enough the nuts on a car wheel so I guess this isn’t intended for that sort of thing. The hexagonal ‘bits’ just drop-in and lock when you pull out the spring loaded ‘collet’ so there’s nothing to screw tight. I like this — you can change bits in a couple of seconds. You get a charger for the battery of course.

Instead of a hard case, this comes with a small zipped bag to store the driver and accessories. In some ways this is good because you can just throw everything in, but it’s not as neat and maybe not as tough as a hard case. It has pockets inside the bag for the smaller accessories.

The motor is brushless so you don’t see sparks like on some drills and drivers. It’s fairly noisy but not terrible. If you were using it continuously for a long period (unlikely) you might want ear protection as the manual suggests, but for occasional use I think it’s fine. Build quality seems solid with rubber coatings on the bits you touch and solid metal elsewhere. It’s fairly heavy but not cumbersome. One of the screws that attaches the body was missing on mine but I’m sure that’s just a slightly ironic one-off. Time will tell if it’s really as tough as it looks and feels.

    Should come in very handy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a nice impact drill driver that is going to come in handy for many jobs. I like working on cars and this is going to be great for removing and replacing wheel nuts. The unit is a nice size and weight so won’t get your hand/arm tired out by using it. It is quite powerful and the trigger is very sensitive so a bit of practice before using for real may be required here.
I also like to mess around with building wooden things in my garage and I’ve been using a lot of old sleepers these days and my old drill would sometimes struggle to get the screws through it. This fantastic impact driver makes light work of this particular job.
It comes with a nice carry case and some nice screw bits and sockets and it’s very easy to lock your bit into the driver just by pulling the ring and inserting the bit before releasing to lock the bit in place, a real time saver.
The battery life and charging times are great which just adds to my liking of this great impact driver.
So for all of the above reasons I am giving this 5 stars.

ice size and weight, very powerful

This is very nearly as good as my American branded red and black impact driver. What it lacks is 2 speed, what is has is directly comparable build quality and a non-naked appeal -ie: it arrives with a battery and charger that would top twice the price in my other brand.

Will it do the job? for my DIY / semi-pro approach yes – as a trade tool perhaps not, but then this is not for the trade. If you are at home, wanting professional quality tools at half the price, rest here, this is a good item, genuinely built to last and plenty good enough and powerful enough for impact driver jobs. Value for money is a 5.

I’ve used Wesco products before, the last item being a power drill, and have been well impressed with what they have to offer. So when I got a chance to try this driver I jumped at it like a hungry dog on an unguarded roast chicken. And I’m so glad that I did as this Wesco product is as good as I’ve come to expect.
First thing’s first. This is a driver, not really a drill, although drill bits can be bought to fit the hex chuck on this)
This is a good sized driver, 210mm by 150mm by 55mm and weighs in at a mere 1.4KG. And has the power to do most jobs in and around the house. If you’ve already got a drill this is a great addition to use as the driver which means you don’t have to keep changing the bits in the chuck. Although, if you do have hex drill bits then changing them in this chuck is as easy as pulling one out and pushing the other back in there’s no turning of the chuck, the hex shape is all that’s needed to grip the bits
As with as drills/drivers of its kind it has a reverse option which is controlled by the little black button above the trigger.
The trigger is nice and smooth, turning on the little light above the battery at the front clicks on and points to where you’re driving a screw in or drilling a hole. This helps in those awkward places you can’t get the normal light into.
The power is excellent and runs so smoothly, and, compared to some drivers I’ve used, this one is fairly quiet although I wouldn’t go using it in the dead of night as it may well annoy the neighbours
I like the fact that it’s not too heavy, so using it for longer periods doesn’t mean you need to have muscles like cage fighting steroid addict.
The bits which come with this are made of strong metal and can stand up to a bit of pressure without flaking apart like some bits I’ve used in the past.
A good thing about this package is that they throw in a bag to carry this in. This bag is a nice size, 340mm by 120mm by 240mm and easily takes the driver all its bits, including chargers, and has room for more.

In all, you may not know the name of Wesco but believe me they are as good as the heavier costing names which are on the market.
The driver works as well as any I’ve used and gives me more confidence when buying more products from Wesco.

Drive with confidence .... and drill if you want to

Glad I decided to buy this Brushless Impact Driver WESCO. I have a drill but needed something with a little extra power. This thing is a beast! Had a little project that I had to out on hold because I was waiting for this impact drill to arrive, it was delivered very fast.
Cost-wise, this one is much price-friendly compares with other well known branded wrenches. The quality seems pretty well-built. 18V Lithium battery, charger, different sizes sockets plus a hard carrying case, it just makes it very handy to carry around. I like the size of this impact. It’s great for small tight spaces and the light is super helpful. We used this to help build the base of a shed that is elevated off the ground. The battery is strong and lasted as long as we needed it.
I recommend this impact drill for all, pretty handy to have for any projects around the house.

Brushless Impact Driver WESCO - Powerful and good quality!

This has been a life saver around the house and with lockdown DIY has been a top priority list. This is perfect for the tight jobs where a normal drill/screw driver wouldn’t fit.

Battery has been much better than I had expected. When it does need a boost its faster with the included charger. You can even buy another battery as they are swappable.

The first thing you notice with this impact driver is the weight. It is a necessary good weight, obviously made from solid materials, making it hard wearing and hard working.

In use the driver does a really good job and has power to spare. The trigger is responsible for the speed and when the trigger is pulled all the way, this driver makes very short work of screwing in those repetitive screws, like when building decking. Not too noisy and with a weight that is similar to more expensive drivers, this gives a good result especially as the battery shows, so far, that is does an excellent job and seems to last more than long enough for most jobs – charging is OK too, not the quickest, but faster than some.

The driver comes with charger and battery, a useful bag to keep it in, a belt clip and several useful bits and drivers.

Is this a 5 star driver, no, but it comes quite close. For an extra 30 pr so you can get a DeWALT or round about the same price, an Erbauer (from Screwfix) – however, don’t let the fact that you may have never heard of this manufacturer before, they are an established company and produce good quality products at a competitive price. As I also have a cordless drill/screwdriver with the same battery, I find that I am more than happy to use the two together whilst working in the workshop/outside in the garden as they seem to compliment each other well.

Bottom line – I am happy to recommend this impact driver to you.

Having got the WESCO 18v Drill, which I was impressed with, I was looking forward to trying out the WESCO Impact Driver.
I have a couple of friends who have the Makita 18v Brushless Impact driver, which is rated the the same 180Nm and costs nearly twice the price without a battery, so I could see a comparison coming up !

It comes in a nice box, which includes a carrying bag (as did the drill), I het getting this type of tool without something to carry it around in so I was very happy to see the bag.
Immediately you take Impact Driver out of the box, you can feel it is a quality product, and as it was a cold day when it arrived, you could feel the cold metal, no plastic build with this.

It felt really nicely balanced too with the ‘neoprene like’ grip on the handle, it was very comfortable too, plus it was just the right weight, not to heavy and not too light … the whole Impact Driver felt “right” in my hand.

The battery had enough charge to be able to try it out straight away, although I will be using the included charger to fully charge the battery overnight when I have done the short test.

I decided to remove some wheel nuts with it, which it did easily, and then I retorqued them back on and did the same with the borrowed Makita… absolutely no difference so 10/10 for use.

The only thing I noticed was that the Makita had speed control on the switch, the WESCO has not got that feature to my mind, but would I pay twice the price for that function .. NO !
Other reviewers says the switch is ‘sensitive’ but to me it was either on or off, but that is just my opinion.
In actual use I personally didn’t find the variable speed switch to be an advantage, it may be if you are a professional user, I don’t know.

You also get a selection of extras, and it says “21 accessories” including a “50mm double ended bit” which was definitely not in the one I received plus a Carrying bag, user manual and 2 years warranty.

I loved the 1/4″quick release chuck, which made changing the bits really quick and easy, a great feature.
Like most kits though this only came with one battery, and like I did with the drill I immediately bought another
WESCO WS9928 18v 2.0Ah Battery as a spare, nothing worse than running out of battery power when you are halfway through a job and personally I always buy when manufacturers battery, having had a bad experience with a 3rd party battery a few years ago, just to save a few pounds, just not worth it !

Summing up : This is a very capable and ‘torquey” impact driver and can hold its own with the competition, especially at this price and a joy to use.
Certainly for the DIY’er is a welcome addition for the toolbox (or tool bag ?)
I am just so impressed with WESCO and in the past I have always stuck with the big names but this firm is definitely one to look out for in the future, as it delivers a quality build and top performance at a very, competitive price.
5 stars all day long for this.

.. the impact driver itself. Construction of such is as good as any so called famous make. Vibration is low, noise level also does not displease. Ergonomics are excellent, although I would add that I have large hands. The trigger needs a firm pull to increase speed; and indeed there is a slight judder, a lack of sensitivity to being with.

The lock/clockwise/ counter clockwise/ switch is in a good place; I didn’t find that I triggered it accidentally such as happened on other cordless drills that I have. There is a slight looseness before the mechanism clicks over say, from locked to either clockwise or counter so.

The drivers themselves are less than satisfactory. In the heads of the sockets there are magnetic posts. However they protrude to a degree that the head does not get as good a deep purchase on a nut as a traditional, no impact driver set, would get.

I find the power supply cheap. Charging time was about 1 hour. It is recommended to only store the driver if the battery is charged to at least 50%. The storage bag seems generic to me. It is far too big for this tool. Also being made of synthetic canvas I can’t see it affording much protection, either to the impact driver of the power supply.

    What is it?
The WESCO WS2320 impact driver has a brushless motor which means there is less friction, no spark and smoother operation. This works well for those with electrophobia as other DC motor powered drills and wrenches wouldn’t be considered.

The package contents include the impact drill, a battery, charger, drill accessories, a belt clip and a handy carry bag.

    How is it?
I particular enjoyed using a previous product from WESCO so was excited to see how this fared. The build quality is equally high, a super sturdy and comfortable build quality and shaped to use in an ergonomic grip.

It has 180Nm of torque which is enough for what I wanted this for – to change my wheels on my car although I did need to purchase the right size socket to fit the wheel nuts. The impact drill spins up to 3,200RPM and the impact frequency is up to 3,600RPM. I figured having a 1/4″ driver might be problematic for higher torque or heavy duty work over the 1/2″ driver but it’s proved its worth and performed flawlessly.

The battery is removed from the drill and connected to the supplied charger for its first charge and what is considered to be a nice touch is the charger has lights to indicate when it is charging and when it is full. While the marketing mentions multiple times of its low noise operation, it’s still quite a loud drill. I’ve not consider the noise factor when looking at drills but it’s worth mentioning in case others wondered.

    Conclusion/Verdict?
This is a a great and inexpensive impact drill, it’s perfect for my automotive use for wheel changes and other maintinence and fixes. Highly recommended!

A great impact drill, I needn't have worried about the 1/4" drive

I already use a Wesco 18v cordless circular saw, one of their cordless drills and their green line laser level so I know the brand is pretty good and I’ve had no problems with anything. My son and I are renovating a property at present and he has just about every DeWalt power tool ever invented. I can honestly say the Wesco brand is just as good with a few minor differences.

For those of you who are unsure what the difference is between an impact driver and a drill, impact drivers are superior at directing their force downward, making them more comfortable to use over a long period of time. Drills are most commonly used to drill holes, impact drivers are for driving in screws and fasteners, not drilling holes. However, in a pinch, if you have the proper bit, you can drill a hole in light-gauge steel or softwood with a standard hex-shank drill bit.

This is a really good tool. The 18 volt battery is powerful enough for most jobs — we have a zillion screws to fit in — and the battery is interchangeable with other Wesco 18v tools. The instructions are comprehensive, the box and packaging it arrived in was excellent and the tool is certainly of a high standard. The Wesco brand is part of the Positec Tool Corporation, a manufacturing company that specializes in the production of power tools and lawn and garden equipment. The company’s corporate headquarters are located in Suzhou, China and the head of its North American division is located in Charlotte, North Carolina (see photo).

The tool came with some great bits, the battery charger, a belt clip and carrying bag. I find the bag particularly useful for keeping all the bits and other oddments in place and also protecting the tool from water, dust and dirt. I just wish all power tools came with a bag. They can’t cost that much.

The price on Amazon was 109.99 and funnily enough a few other Wesco tools are exactly the same price. However, I’ve just noticed the price has gone down, which is good. It’s about the same price as other impact drivers though the top brands are much more expensive. I like it and I’d certainly recommend it.

Impact drivers have a distinct place in the toolbox, especially for mechanics and those working on framing etc. where you’re driving long screws and want to avoid cam-out on Pozidrive heads.

This unit has a higher-end 180nm torque and a decent RPM so should should make short work of driving decking screws etc.180nm should also to be sufficient to release bolts up to 6 to 8mm without needing to use spanner. The torque could break cheaper bits and chrome sockets, although I had no problems with the supplied screw bits and nut drivers.

The unit has some heft to it but is well balanced and feels comfortable in the hand with soft-touch grips. All the switch-gear feels robust too and the quality of plastics is a notable step-up from bargain Chinese-made units.

If you ‘buying into’ the WESCO tool range, the 18V battery is interchangeable with other tools in the 18V range

    Negatives for me –

For the price, a 3Ah battery would have been appreciated
There’s no LED power indicator on the battery pack
No magnetic bit holder on the body or battery
No 1/4 or 3/8 Socket Adapters supplied
No extension bit holder with locking collar supplied
The lead from UK socket to charger is flimsy ‘bell wire’

All in all, this would be a good addition to the toolbox of a keen DIYer doing home mechanics or house-remodel. Loses a star for going above the 100 price-point, so I’d say just fair value.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this tool for working on cars. I used it last night to real the lug nut on all four wheels of my z4 project car. The tool performed very respectably. I only had to use a breaker bar on 2 of the lug nuts. It saved me so much time and effort. The driver has a small profile and is also light in weight which is great if you have to use it for an extended period. There is no speed selection which is the difference between a more affordable tool and the more expensive premium brands, but you do get some speed control in the trigger. The trigger is very sensetive, i had seen a few reviews saying that and its true it is very sensetive so if you are planning to buy this for applications which require a lot of speed control with the trigger then this is probably not the best tool. For my jobs where im working on my project cars this is good enough. Lastly this tool works with Bauker batteries which i have shown in the photos. That was the reason I chose this over other drivers so thats a plus if you already have a bauker tool. Great value for money.

Great Tool. Great Value For Money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery impressed with this Wesco Impact Driver. Really well built power tool for the price with the added benefit of being brushless.
Pros are the ease at which I’ve been able to drive 4″ screws through timber, battery life is good and the battery compatibility with other makes i.e. Worx, Bauker etc. is a bonus.
Cons are the difficulty to control the speed as the trigger is very sensitive. This may improve with practice, but spending more money will get you a driver with speed settings. The provided bits are useful but the screw bits haven’t lasted long. However I think this may be due to the high torque this driver provides.
Overall a great piece of kit that probably out performs more expensive impact drivers.
