Bought this cable for my Ring stickup cam elite camera. As the one supplied by ring was to short for my needs. Cables seems to be good quality a little stiff as its solid core but fine for running through my loft space and pinning to my wall. Cable works well with my camera and works as it should.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSpot on cable. I saw some reviews for this item saying it would not go straight, constantly wanting to twirl itself back up. Ignore them. It is coiled up in the packaging. Just unwind it and straighten it out. Reverse the loops and twist it straight. It’s simple. If you want cable this length, you are probably restraining it in trunking or with cable grips anyway.

The job I used it for involved going through tight holes in external wall, through conduit, buried in soil and through fairly tight bends in timber stud work. The first cable I used broke (that was a copper coated aluminium cable). A mistake. This one with solid copper cores is much much better. Very pleased.

I was putting my own RJ45s and network socket jacks on this and only bought this finished cable because simple cable although plugs in was more expensive. For anyone doing the same, this cable was simple to work with. However it lacks a drawstring thread to pull on. Easy to strip back the ‘hard way’ though and crimps fine.

I ran 90ft of this cable outside, down two floors, and through about 20 holes where some holes where sharp metal. I can say the casing is very durable for what you’re paying. Also I’ve put ethernet head on many different ethernet cables and this is by far the easiest I’ve ever come across! No struggle or frustration at all crimping.

My times from my PC in the attic to my router in the basement went from 30 ms (powerline) to less then 1ms (wired). I have 200 Mbps down from the isp and I’m getting about 150 Mbps on average now. If you connection is sub 1 Gbps, I would highly recommend this cable.

Sheathing is OK (feels a little thin) and is nice and flexible. Tried and tested with the plugs intact (perfect), although I cut them off and terminated the cable into sockets.

This exterior Cat 5e cable was required to run from a cctv camera across the back of my home and then through the loft. The cable is strong and the connectors are good but what was a pain was the fact that it wanted to retain its coiled up shape which made it difficult to route. For instance I could have done with a second person to feed it through a hole while I pulled from the other side.

I think this is a good economical UV resistant cable. While I haven’t had it long enough to prove the casing is UV resistant, I believe it probably will be. I have a POE security camera that only runs 100MB, so I can’t prove that it would it will run 1gb but I assume at 100′ feet (1/3 max distance) you will probably be fine on speed. And it appears to handle the POE power just fine at 100′; The reason that I gave it 4 stars rather than 5, is that at the time purchase/review, they advertise “… for perfect outdoor use and burial” I think that is misleading on the burial. I’ve had some ‘direct burial’ cat6 cables before and I know there are several different construction techniques to direct burial cables, but they all share that they are thicker and stiffer than an indoor cable. This stuff isn’t even as thick as most of my indoor patch cables. So my guess is its probably fine for what I used it for (Running outdoors around a building), but I don’t think its direct burial rated, but like most uv resistant cables, it would be okay in a conduit for burial. So I would buy it again for what I used it for, but I would keep looking if I wanted to do direct burial.

Here’s the situation. We got two houses out here on the oregon coast, one of them has a router, one of them doesn’t. Our solution was to run this cable from one house to the other through a window. I initially bought two because I didn’t expect the first one to last a year. … .. .. . that was 4 years ago. The second ones still just sitting in my closet ready to go. Over the years this thing has been sitting in mud and snow. It’s been stepped on a hundred times and tripped over once. A bush has grown over it and has been cut down and allowed to grow back TWICE. We live right next to the beach so the salty air has also had its way with the cable as well. And it still works! This cable rocks! If you need an outdoor cable that will partially be outside do yourself a favor and get this one. Money well spent! Normally this is the part of the review where I say if it breaks I’ll buy it again but this things determined to last.

At this price you would expect copper-coated aluminium, but I can confirm this is solid copper core. The outer sheathing is weatherproof, which on the plus side means that unlike normal sheathing it doesn’t rot away in sunlight or when buried, but on the downside, together with the solid core, means that it can’t easily turn sharp corners (it is not very flexible; you have to use some well-anchored cable clips to make it travel around the corner of an exterior wall). Had no problems punching it down to network sockets or fitting network plugs. Previously with WiFi-N150, the PCs in my study were topping out at 25Mbit/sec; now with this cable I get the full 70Mbit/sec from my fibre router two rooms away, with SMB file transfers inside the LAN running far faster still. Total cable diameter with sheath is 5mm, so get either 5mm or 6mm cable clips. Note that this is unshielded, but it is twisted pairs so interference wasn’t a problem for me even when passing the household mains fusebox. If you’re planning to run alongside mains wire for a long length then consider shielded instead. Note also that it is not armoured, so if you bury it, one forceful spade could chop it. If you don’t need shield nor armour, then for outdoor network cable running through and along walls, or under paving, this is about the best you can get for the price – expect to pay double or more to get better.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersRather than deal with odd lengths of ethernet I’ve collected over the years I prefer to run my own cable for a tidy fit. This stuff does the job…decent shielding for exposure running under the crawlspace to get a switch out to the devices on the entertainment center and nice and tidy for cutting lengths to all the gizmos in my home office. The shielding does make it a little “stiff”er than just laying a cable down…but it tidies up nicely with some zip ties along with the other cords running around.

I used to buy ethernet cables at the cheaper end until I found out the wires were mostly cca (copper clad aluminium), which is quite vulnerable to breaking, and has a higher voltage drop on long lengths when powering PoE devices.

We found WiFi a little too weak even with extenders to service our home office with the door shut so I plumbed this from the router, through the wall, up the outside of the property, round the corner, through another wall and along the skirting. What can I say? I wanted a robust CAT5e cable and that is precisely what this is. It is very well made and well suited to indoor/outdoor use. I especially like the fact that the end plugs (RJ45) are very secure and will last a long time. The cable can be easily clipped to walls/timber without too much curling. However, if you are after a very flexible CAT5e cable, then this will not be for you as it can be quite stiff as a result of it being so strong. I am using this to power PoE (power over Ethernet) devices around the home and is well suited to the job.

I ordered this cable to run from my router (in the kitchen) to my rather old but reliable desk top computer in my study (garden shed)!!

I should have ordered longer but that is my issue.

I have to say that this cable has so far proved to be fantastic. I have had others that just have not stood the test of time. I bury the cable to the edge but under a gravel pathway and find that other cables have become damaged where this one has not,

I have noticed no difference in speed I am more than happy with this product. I am not technically minded but know what I need and this fulfilled my simple requirements.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI think some of the other reviewers have misunderstood what an outdoor ethernet cable is. The key difference between an outdoor cable and a normal ethernet cable is the outer sheath on the cable. The outer layer of a normal ethernet cable is PVC, for an outdoor cable it is PE (Polyethylene). The reason is that UV (ie. sunlight) degrades PVC, it does not affect PE in the same way. PE is also generally most resistant to punctures. This cable correctly has a PE sheath, so is suitable for outdoor use.

Some outdoor cables are also gel filled. Gel is used so that if you have a puncture in the cable, the water does not permeate through the whole length of the cable (potentially ending up indoors if you’re unlucky). This cable is NOT gel filled. That seems acceptable at this price point, but if your use case involves the cable installed in a way that there is a high risk a puncture could happen and that the water entering the cable would exit somewhere undesirable you may want to look for a gel filled cable instead.

If you are making an outdoor connection, you should buy a suitable waterproof junction box to protect the connection.

I used this cable with a PHYLink PoE IP camera which came with a very good waterproof junction box. To make it easier to feed the other end of the cable through the wall I cut off the connector and inside connected it to an RJ45 socket (eg. kenable RJ45 Face Plate Wall Sockets Cat6 Single 1 Port with Keystones Jacks ).

The conductors of this cable are solid (ie. not stranded); that means it is good choice for permanent installations, but not a good choice for (say) a laptop that is reconnected daily where the continuous flexing might cause one of the conductors to snap through fatigue. The conductors do appear to be solid copper – this is good, a number of cables in this price range use CCA (copper-clad-aluminium) which is cheaper and has various disadvantages compared to pure copper.

One thing I am not entirely happy about is this cable has very little in the way of markings on it. Normally at manufacture time a cable has the manufacturer’s name and specification printed onto the cable every meter or so, so you can identify the cable type (if you look at any half decent network cable you should see an example of these markings) and be relatively sure that you are getting the type of cable you have paid for. The only marking on this cable is ‘BK151123-41’, which as far as I can tell has no known meaning. As best I can tell from inspection, it is actually a cat5e cable with a polyethylene outer.

Note that there has also been an issue with anti-snag boots; at the time I bought (June 2016) the product photos were showing a cable with anti-snag boots (to protect the ‘tab’ on the connector from damage) but the cable I received did not have these. Apparently the manufacturer had removed these without the seller knowing, and they have now updated the photos to show the cable without the anti-snag boots. I understand the next batch of cables they have requested the manufacturer to fit the anti-snag boots. I was tempted to deduct one star for this, but the seller has taken full responsibility and agreed to refund or supply a cable with anti-snag boots I think they have handled the issue very well.

Many of the other reviewers for this cable seem to have received cheap/free samples, I actually purchased this cable at full price and to fulfil a genuine need! I highly recommend it, I’ve bought another 3 since.

First impression, very thin and flexible Cable. No problem with the bandwith on my gigabit network, delivers the same speed as my other cat6 cables. I used it on my loft going outdoors through the soffit to my 4mp POI ip camera. Only had it installed for a couple of weeks, not sure how it will do over time with frost and exposure to the sun. Because it is so thin compared to other outdoor cables i have i am little bit sceptical if it will last, also the coating on the cable looks and feel more like an indoor cable. THIS cable arrived well packed and promptly. It looked well made and suitably sturdy and it went straight into use.

After only a week it’s hard to say much else. The thing hasn’t been quietly working away for years, nor has it been plugged or un-plugged many, many times but it certainly looked the part and it’s doing its job.

It’s not too difficult to find cheaper 10m cables advertised and when I did they were usually click-and-collect which kills the saving in cost or convenience or both, not described as solid copper or too often “from 99p” turned out to mean for a sample

I got mine for favour of review but I would have been happy to pay the 6.99 asking price.

    Great Cable, good quality!!

I got this as now the weather is getting better I would like to spend more time in the garden but still be able to use my network on the laptop as it is much more stable than the wifi – my cable provider has oversold the wifi in my area and it is very delicate and not reliable. It is so much easier to simply trail a cable out to the end of the garden, sit in the shed or under a tree and get some fresh air while you work.

This cable is brilliant, it is plenty long enough to reach right out to the end of my garden, with plenty of slack to drape it out of the window without putting pressure on any of my connections. I can leave it in the grass, even when it is damp, as it is fully waterproof and reliable. I tried this this afternoon and had no problems at all. I just wiped it off when coiling it up to come in again and it is ready for next time.

The connections are solid, the rj45 clips are strong and there is no risk of dislodging them when you can’t see the connection from where you are. I can see this being very useful for my teenagers when they want to use the shed for their friends but there is no wiring available for any connection. They can just take this through the window or door and connect no problem. I’m considering getting another as it is long enough to take up to my son’s room so that he doesn’t have to rely on wifi up there.

I have received this product in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The cable arrived quickly and was as pictured and described.

I work in the IT sector and my job involved lots of work with cat5e cable. This is indeed proper outdoor grade cable with good quality strain relief plugs properly fitted.

I tested the connections using an LED ethernet cable tester and all the pairs lit up as they should.

I’m happy that this is a genuine, quality cable and I’m quite happy to use it for a job.

Thanks for reading. Please note that I was kindly sent an evaluation sample of this product at a reduced rate by the seller in return for an honest and unbiased review. I know that people rely on Amazon reviews to make informed decisions and as such my reviews are always representative of my true impression of a product.
