Next Level USB-C Gen.2 Dock
Built on the concept that more and more of us are working remotely from home the SOHO, or Small Office Home Office Dock, helps bring all of our devices together wherever we are.
Double The Performance Of Gen.1
The benefits of a 10Gb/s USB-C device over a 5Gb/s device set it apart from the vast amount of hubs on the market. Whether you want to take full advantage of a 4K 60Hz monitor or connect an ultra-fast SSD, the SOHO Dock has all the features you need.

Single 4K 60HzThe SOHO Dock offers full 4K 60Hz² resolution for those looking to get the most out of their 4K monitors. In order to achieve 4K 60Hz your computer’s USB-C port must support DP 1.4. | Dual Monitors on macOSmacOS users looking to add dual monitors can add two displays up to 4K 60Hz² in Mirrored mode. Dual Extended displays are not supported on macOS. | Dual Monitors on WindowsWindows users looking to add dual monitors can add two displays up to 4K 60Hz² in Mirrored mode, or dual Extended displays at 4K 30Hz. |
At Your Desk or On-The-Go
The SOHO Dock has the ability to be bus-powered, making it an ideal solution for users that need to expand their connectivity on the road. In addition, the SOHO Dock’s dual video connectors and pass-through charging capability make it an ideal desktop docking solution.
iPad Pro & Tablet Compatible
Not only can you use the SOHO Dock on a traditional computer, but you can also use it with an iPad Pro or Windows tablet. This allows users to connect a single 4K monitor and all the various devices that the SOHO Dock has to offer.
Dual SD Card Readers
The dual SD 4.0 and microSD 4.0 card readers both support UHS-II speeds that will significantly improve your file transfer speeds.
HDMI 2.0b & DisplayPort 1.4
By including both HDMI and DisplayPort connectors, users have the flexibility to connect to the type of monitor that’s best suited for them.
Just the Right Amount of Ports
Unlike cheap USB-C hubs, the SOHO Dock has been designed to have just the right amount of ports in order to not exceed the power output that your laptop’s Type-C port can provide. Cheap USB-C hubs with an excessive amount of ports will exceed the power provided by your aptop’s port.
- USB-C 10Gb/s (Data Port)
- USB-C (Power Delivery)
- DisplayPort 1.4
- HDMI 2.0b
- USB-A 10Gb/s (Data Port)
- SD 4.0 UHS-II Card Reader
- microSD UHS-II Card reader
Pass-through Laptop Charging¹
The SOHO Dock supports up to 100W Type-C charger which is used to charge your laptop, in addition to powering the SOHO Dock and its attached USB devices. The power supplied to your laptop will vary based on the wattage of the charger you use and how many USB devices are connected to the SOHO Dock. A USB-C charger is not included.
Full Speed 10Gb/s Data Port
Anyone that has used a traditional Gen.1 USB-C hub will know that the USB ports offer limited performance capabilities. The SOHO Dock’s front-facing USB-C data port offers full 10Gb/s performance, double that of traditional hubs.
USB-A 5Gb/s Data Port
Whilst the 10Gb/s USB-C port is great for connecting fast SSD storage, the USB-A 5Gb/s port, allows you to add any USB-A device to the SOHO Dock such as a keyboard, mouse, smartphone, or any other USB device.

I’ve been using this for a number of months now and have had no issues with it. It was very quick to connect and links with my Mac seamlessly. My only issue is that it does get rather hot so you need to make sure its not used were it is likely to be touched.
I have been using this with an M1 MBP for about six months now- and have found it utterly invaluable.
I’ve used a nice chunky Anker 100W rated USB-C cable between the dock and the PSU. Then the dock is connected to the Mac via a (nice short Caldigit) Thunderbolt cable. I have the dock running an external monitor over Displayport, which works like a charm. The card reader is pretty good- generally getting solid speeds.
It’s a shame that it doesn’t have more USB-A sockets, so I hang a little four port Anker unpowered USB 3 hub from the one that’s present. That’s where I plug in keyboard, mouse, Da Vinci Resolve dongle and external soundcard.. that mostly works fine, sometimes needs replugging on boot before I can use the keyboard to type my encryption password. It mostly works OK though, it’s not annoying enough to work out if it’s the Anker hub or the dock being squirrelly.
Generally, it’s great. Being able to plonk the MBP down, plug in one thunderbolt cable and be ready to go is really nice. I’m very happy with this device.
I’ve used this with my iMac and iPad and I haven’t had any issues with it. It’s very sturdily built and everything I’ve connected to it has worked flawlessly. The only negatives are (1) that it’s pricey, but I guess that’s what you pay for the full speed USB 3.2, and (2) the three different function USB C ports are scattered around 3 sides, so you have to really think what is going where. It also means you have cables sticking out the 3 side at times which is a bit untidy.
Overall, very pleased with it.
Great dock, delivers 129htz to my 144htz screen, is fast and passes through power effectively.
Just wish it had an extra few usb type a.
Very quick delivery and I am very satisfied with the product and I recommend it to anyone!
Echt gutes Teil!
I’m using this with an iMac Pro mainly to run a second screen via DisplayPort. It replaced a Caldigit TB3 dock when that one was co-opted to add ports to a new MacBook Pro. The SOHO dock doesn’t need to have external power to work unlike the TB3 so that’s a plus, and it has a microSD socket which saves faff. It also works great with my iPad Air. Slight minus points for me is the dock to computer socket is on the right which is the opposite to what I’d like, and a very short USB 3.2 cable, but both fine for laptop use.
I was initially disappointed how this performed with 2019 16″ MacBook Pro but looks like Apple finally fixed it’s stuff.
Initial problems:
My 4k60 BenQ display refused to work with this via both hdmi and display port. A wide 4k60 LG display did work, bit it was kinda weird: it took 5-10 seconds for the display to get the signal then it’d work for 5 seconds then the display would go black for a few seconds and after that it would work just fine. Until you disconnect or go into sleeping that is. After that I’d have to go though that weird ritual again. I end up using this doc with LG display but overall the impression was average at best. My girlfriend needed a dock and I did not recommend her buying this.
After Apple rolled out MacOS Monterey:
Now this doc works freaking flawless. Both BenQ and LG display work (via hdmi at least), it connects instantly and doesn’t go black anymore. Looks like Apple finally fixed it’s connectivity and I retract all the negatives I have said about this dock. The reason I’m writing this review almost 6 months later is because I got back to this page to buy another one for my girlfriend. It works really well now.
It’s a decent product and provides some ports to an otherwise lacking selection on the m1 MacBook Pro.
I wish this had at least another USB port, and I seem to have an issue where the video connection sometimes stops working altogether if I’m doing a cold start.
Really happy with this device until today. Micro SD slot (which I’ve never used till now) doesn’t hold the card in place. I am inserting the card correctly btw. I’ve emailed them so we will see how they resolve it. Tech issues are commonplace..its customer service that is the deal breaker for reputation.
I got this about a month ago for my Macbook Pro (2016, touchpad).
I attached velcro tape to the place right beneath my monitor. It is connected with two monitors (HDMI, Display) and a webcam (USB-A) (every now on then micro SD card).
It serves me perfectly as it designed for. No more than that or less than that
I would continuously use my next upcoming MacBook pro 2021.
Has better pass through power cabability to the data USB A/C ports than most (meaning my iPad pro can charge on USB-C even when being used as a second dispay (Duet))
Video capability solid
4 stars as for me it really could do with one more USB-A port. Would have been happy to loose the displayport port for a second USB-A
I moved from a different hub just to get the data USB-C port capable of charging my ipad, so quite happy
Am using to connect to network/display/power/hard drive for backup and keyboard whilst working from home. Can be slightly temperamental with the DisplayPort/hdmi on iPad Pro and some tv configurations but works great on MacBook Pro and no drivers to install. Sometimes makes MacBook crash if detached whilst lid is closed but if you detach whilst MacBook is active no such issues. Better than most docks I have tried.
Superbe boitier,
Belle qualit de fabrication. Connexion fiable.
I have been using this CalDigit USB-C Gen2 Dock for a few months now. I have a M1 Macbook Pro and an LG External Monitor which I have been connecting it to. It works fairly well and the connection remains stable which is great. I like how it gives me the ability to charge multiple devices as well plus it is very small and portable. For the most part it works as well as it is intended to do. I have noticed that it can get quite warm sometimes but I don’t consider that a massive issue as it does not get hot enough to burn you.
It does have a few issues though. Firstly it can be quite hard to get it to connect to an external display. Sometimes i have to remove and insert the USB-C cable which connects the dock to my Macbook multiple times before my external display shows the second screen. Also I have seen it fail to work a few times. The display shows up as a second screen but then the colours are completely off and it looks like the screen is broken. And I have also seen it display static on the screen like those old TV’s when the connection fails to work too.
Fortunately it does work eventually but it can be annoying having to fiddle around with it to get it to work. One more thing to mention is on occasion the dock fails to show a picture if your computer went into sleep mode. You might have to do the whole reconnect and disconnect the cable routine over again. However I think that if you either shut down or restart your computer the dock usually works as you would expect it to. No reconnecting required.
The dock works exactly as advertised and my experience/use case is a bit nich. I own a Macbook Air M1 and had a Dell U3421WE monitor (the one with the USB-C Dock built in) and one of the issues with the new M1 macbook is that not all displays work in RGB mode. I have read on a few forums that in order to RGB to work some people have employed a dock to overcome this issue – with limited success unfortunately. Unfortunately the dock still displayed everything in YPbPr instead of RGB, making the text look blurry, rendering the display unusable. The same display connected to a Dell Laptop work flawlessly. So overall, it’s a great dock and I love what it offers but it’s not for me (until Apple fix the issues with some external displays).
By *far* the best USB C dock for my needs:
– compact
– USB C power in and out (100W)
– 4K@60Hz DisplayPort and HDMI
– 2 x 10Gb/s USB
– all at the same time
I’ve had it for a few days now and it works flawlessly with an M1 MacBook Air. The metal build is great. I love it.
