We simply don’t have room for an actual piano, and the yamaha ones are so pricey. We looked through lots of reviews and this one came up as being a good buy – and we are really pleased with it. We don’t know much about pianos, but the sound quality of this seems excellent and the weighted keyboard element is spot on – we have to put pressure on the keys in the same way you would with a real piano. I did find the instructions confusing – so far I’ve only tried setting the metronome to help my son with his pacing, but I simply can’t work out how to do it. This could just be me though – I’d imagine someone who knows their way around a piano would be able to easily figure it out!

This piano is excellent value for money. I love that it is slimline and lightweight as I needed to be able to lift it and move it by myself. It’s 88 keys, fully weighted and has a USB midi connection. It’s exactly what I wanted. The only downside is that the metronome is very quiet, even at the maximum volume. I’ve just downloaded a free metronome mobile app to solve that.

    Excellent value for money

This is a brilliant digital piano for anyone starting out. It’s compact in comparison to it’s competitors, and the sound quality is really good. The key action is very similar to a real piano with the fully weighted keys, and the build quality seems to be really good. Little touches like the ebony and ivory feel keys makes it feel like a premium piano. It’s a bit limited on the different tones with only 10, but I’ve not found it limiting.

Mi ritengo soddisfatto dell’acquisto in sostanza.

I’m a complete novice so haven’t the knowledge or the experience to compare with similar products.
However it seems to work perfectly, it does everything it should and lives up to the very positive independent reviews on the internet. I am more than pleased with it and especially like the keys which feel (to me) just like an acoustic piano which is what I wanted.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersAfter lots of research, I decided to buy CDP-S100BK digital piano. My crush was with Privia PX-S1000 but it is above 50k which is beyond my reach. On the other hand, this machine was not available in amazon and Bajaao.com declined to deliver in Namchi, South Sikkim.
CDP-S100BK is almost 17k less than Privia PX-S1000. It was available in amazon on pre-paid order, so ordered it on 15.11.2020 and safely delivered on 23.11.2020. It cost me Rs. 35,194/-. Thank you amazon for timely delivery and reliability.
Very good sounds with acurate tones. Some may feel less sound as its speakers are backfacing. All the features work well.

When you are alone at home, just put it in chorus and reverb and press the keys randomly using both the hands, you will find music everywhere.

The only problem I am finding these days is I am not finding its wooden stand CS-46P. Putting it on X-keyboard stand doesn’t looks nice.

    CDP-S100 sooths your Heart!

Playing live though, I’ll use its midi output to put it through a DAW/ performer to use a bigger sound library. As a controller, it’s fantastic. Note velocity, touch and sustain pedal all output through midi well….Perfect for a home studio.

I was surprised how much this piano has made me reassess my playing style, because the key action is so realistic – far more effective than my old upright piano. The actual tone is ok though not brilliant, and the alternative sounds (organ, harpsichord) are nothing special either, but it is made up for by the quality of the action and the way it makes you think about touch and expression because it is so responsive. On top of this it is really easy to practice whenever you want without bothering the neighbours, either with the volume down, or on headphones – with the latter you can also play along to an iPod or phone really easily, and if you need more sounds it just plugs in as a controller via USB, also linking to Garageband or Musescore which will do all the work for you. I’m not sure how robust it would be on the road, and it is really not very portable (it is very heavy – balance it at your peril on an X stand on stage), but if you are looking for a natural-playing keyboard with a decent basic tone to practice and improve your technique, it is superb value for money. I agree with other reviewers that the grain on the keys does have an oddly plastic-y feel, but it doesn’t put me off. A 1/4″ jack output would be an easy improvement, as would more accessible input and output jacks, and the foot pedal is also pretty basic (but works fine, and can easily be replaced with a more “realistic” one if you want), but on the whole these are minor gripes. If you are spending lockdown learning or improving piano, and are learning a proper technique rather than just getting the right notes in the right order, this seems an ideal instrument.

This is a great compact digital piano with a full set of keys. The keys play really well, if a touch noisy, and the piano sounds are good. However they are weighted and this makes the whole instrument quite heavy. It’s still portable but I wouldn’t want to carry it very far.
All the functions are accessed by the function key plus one of the piano keys. However this beeps when you use it and you need two hands so difficult to activate in the middle of playing. There is an app which can be used to change the functions but I need a USB adapter to connect to my phone and haven’t had much success with it. It is only available on Android so I can’t use my laptop. A Windows app would be appreciated.
You can layer two sounds together which is useful. You can also transpose the sound 6 semitones up or down. You can’t record into the piano itself but you can record via the app.
For the money this is an excellent piano. Just need to get the connection to my phone sorted and then it will be even better.

I was looking for a weighted key piano keyboard for ages for the right price so that my child can exercise during lockdown when having no access to a proper piano at her teachers.

This item has very straight forward function without having to go through the guide every time.

The keys have a nice grip for beginner and plays like a piano. You do have to use your finger strengths.

I have viewed several independent reviews About the keyboard and as they have mentioned it is a bit quiet when using the Grand piano function but the volumn goes up once turned over half point.

I got this keyboard few days before the price went back to 300 from 279. So got a good deal but from the reviews 300 is already a good price for this item.

Back to the piano after many years off. This has good weighted keys. A very good starter piano with a true piano feel to it. I tried a Rock Jam, big mistake and no comparison to this keyboard. I honestly believe this is the best value keyboard for the money. Some very minor observations, a small reverberation on very low and high notes (rarely, if ever, played at this level) and the odd key needs firmer pressure than its neighbours. This brings me to my main gripe, the price fell by 11 a day or so after I had bought it and on the day it was delivered, can’t win them all I suppose. Would recommend, particularly at the lower price.

The digital piano is lovely and as expected.

However, even though this review is not about the product, but about the delivery, I must say that Amazon used Hermes parcel service (since it was one-day delivery) to send this keyboard. However and the delivery guy was too lazy to come to our place and called us and we missed the call. Our place has a reception that works 24/7 but he was too lazy to come to our place and we missed the delivery on the 1st day. On the second day, we finally managed to contact him (same guy) but he was very rude, he parked somewhere else and asked me to find him, (which was roughly 20-30 m to my home) and he dropped it on the road and left. This is very heavy and with the box roughly weighted around 12 kg and it was hard for me to carry it for 30 m without any help. If you every order this, never use other parcel delivery services but prefer amazon delivery service.

Like the sound and key texture and the simplicity of setting up other sounds (organ, harpsicord, strings etc) – coupled with an iPad and skoove free membership its ideal. This piano has probably the best feeling keybed you will find anywhere near this budget. It feels almost the same as a non digital piano with slight differences in the force needed to push the keys down and the keys material themselves. Nevertheless it is a very good piano at this price point. The sound quality is lacking slightly, im not sure how it is with headphones, but the speakers sound cheaper than the rest of the keyboard feels, it’s not a big thing and its not that bad but either way this was no issue for me as im mainly using it as a midi keyboard which it is excellent for all you need is a usb lead.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersSome back ground….
Up until this point i have been using a Yamaha psrf51 which was given to me by my Nan to learn piano. i was using it with flowkey and simply pianio apps which was working until i started to play multiple notes and chords. At this point i found that the Mic pick up was struggling to identify what i was playing. since the Yamaha didnt have a Midi output i decided to upgrade to a piano with a Midi output.

    Casio cdp s100 verdict ……
My god what have i been missing! the step up in quality is unbelievable. First thing you notice is the weight, its says its portable and usable with batteries but its a pretty big lump to move around. When i plugged it into the Midi it was recognised instantly by my computer and by flowkey ( havnt tried it yet with simply piano).

Now playing the Yamaha was a simple matter of pressing the keys, on the Casio you have to put more into it to get something out, the software picked up the keys easy enough but if you want to hear what your playing you have to really push those keys down due to them being weighted like a real piano. Already what i have played some pieces more expressively (probably more by accident than on purpose) and the feel of the keys is lovely. for what i can remember of the feel of a real piano this isnt far off.

If your thinking of learning do it right, get a decent beginner piano, the Casio was 1 of three i was considering but since this had a deal on when i brought it i went with this one. ( wasnt my top choice but the price swayed me ).

Do i regret going for the Casio over the other options i considered? Absolutely NOT its a top piece of kit that i wish i had from the very beginning, I feel like i have lost out by simply playing on the Yamaha and i now have to learn how to play what i had already learned all over again in the correct way.

There are some good comparison videos on youtube between the Casio and its competitors which would be worth checking out but i am very happy with my choice!

For a beginner digital piano, this is hard to beat.

Compared to more budget options – like gear4music, this piano focuses on what is important – a good build quality, realistic feel and a decent piano sound. All of which the casio pulls off to much avail.

While the keys feel a bit plasticy, the feeling of the weighting is pretty spot on, with the velocity response being great, making practise more rewarding for players.

The sound quality is pretty good. The speakers have a good frequency response, and the stock piano sound is convincing enough – which is most important.

Some nice features include reverbs, some different instrument sounds and options for headphones and sustain pedals.

A really great, streamlined option for a beginner or the more experienced player who is on a budget.

After 4 months use the power would not switch on. Turned out to be AC adapter that failed. Casio sent out a replacement within a few days, so no complaints there. I see at least one other reviewer has had this issue.

Your opinion of this digital piano will depend on how much of a purist you are about sound quality.

To my amateur ear I think it sounds great, although obviously more expensive models will give you a more natural sound. I bought as a gift for my partner looking to get back into playing after years away from it. She loves it.

Most importantly this piano is 88 key, has weighted pseudo ivory keys, a foot peddle, and a metronome – everything you need to simulate a real piano. It has plenty of additional sounds, although we just use the grand piano setting mostly.

It has a quality feel and looks the part. It takes up minimal space as well.

Overall, this is great value for money and a good choice for amateurs looking to get back into playing, or for someone who wants a full 88 key piano when space is tight.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI’m new to keys, in a way. We had a yamaha piano keyboard when I was a kid that travelled everywhere with us, and it was a gorgeous thing and I’ve had a good opinion of yamaha ever since. It wasn’t weighted however. The weightedness of these keys is good, you can feel your thumb awaken to the idea of being more than a thumb. As I play other instruments I am aware that instruments awaken things. As a young violinist my fingers experienced this, the same way a guitarist’s would. There is something a little greasy about the keys though. Maybe it’s because it’s brand new. Maybe the fact my thumbs are feeling the weight is making me overthink the experience of the keys. Maybe when my fingers are more accustomed I will be happy. But I’m guessing it has something to do with the fact they are weighted, and the keyboard is in my budget, and this is a good thing.
The keyboard looks sexy. I’ve been playing for a couple hours now and I’m sooo pleased with the purchase and the option of installments.
It’s heavy. I wouldn’t carry it around on my back but if I was a talented keyboardist I might load it into the band van to take to the gig. If you’re going to have qual. and want weighted keys I can’t see onyerback portability being that possible. She can definitely move easily around the house. Unless your house is a spiral.
She’s good for beginners that’s for sure and she’s good for the music writing I want to be doing with her. I’m pretty happy with her/it.
If I decide to take piano further it would be with an actual piano, I think. But that’s a long time away. I think I made a good choice. But if it breaks before it’s time I’ll let you know…

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s an 88 key piano so not the most portable item but it does take batteries and they last a good while actually. I’m loving learning to play on this… it’s solid and the keys feel great. Really nice

The biggest surprise for me, was the feeling of keys there are really like a real piano. The weight, structure and mechanics is so natural you can forget that this is just keyboard not Piano.

Not the greatest sounding piano, especially in the upper octaves, but a weighted keyboard at this price makes it worth the money. Would’ve liked a vibraphone sound as well

Nice tidy piano, feels nice, looks good, not overly complicated like a keyboard, nice how shallow it is.

Thought it was quiet at first but it’s just because the keys are weighted!

Well, that is what I felt with this piano.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersAs a practice keyboard, I can’t recommend this.
The speakers aren’t good, and plugging in headphones reveals how unimpressive the piano sound is.

HOWEVER, I’ve been in the market for a weighted keyboard to use as a midi controller. The CDP-S100 is perfect for my needs so far! The keys just feel great to play; this price point and the quality of the keybed are quite exceptional. The CDP-S100 is comparably light and has the smallest form factor of any other 88 key weighted controller on the market. This makes it ideal for studio use.

The keyboard’s been plug and play for my DAW use. The only limitation of using the CDP-S100 as a controller is the lack of faders, mod wheel, pitch bend. In my case, I wanted a smaller keyboard (88 keys at a desk is already massive anyway); therefore I’ve preferred to simply use a nanocontrol.

Anyway, hope this helped. Pretty poor sounding practice piano. However, everything else is on point.

    EDIT:
Ok the black keys are noisier than the white keys
And NO HALF PEDALLING! Oh dear. Even with a continuous sustain plugged in. The output is limited to 0 or 127. shame.

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersL’ho comprato per mio figlio.

Golden Review Award: 36 From Our UsersI live in a very musical household. I personally can play guitar a bit (and I do really mean a bit). My wife has a decent electronic piano (a Yamaha that she has had for years) my son play Cello and Oboe to Grade 8 standard and my daughter is doing a music degree. My daughter is really a violinist, but since she has left home she has missed playing the piano at home…so whilst we were looking for a Christmas present I came up the idea of a keyboard. This arrived and was opened and used extensively by my children until I took her home with it yesterday. There are a few gripes with it

    i. I don’t like the feel of the keys, but nobody else had a problem with them, they are ever so slightly rough – it should help new players so their fingers don’t drift off the keys, but it takes a bit of getting used to.

ii. The tone isn’t bad, it’s certainly acceptable, but it’s nowhere near a concert standard piano, but it’s a cheap electronic piano so you can’t expect miracles.

iii. The sustain pedal is a bit rubbish, it works, but it doesn’t look good.

iv. They say that it’s portable. Somebody is having a laugh as it weighs in at 15Kg and is a full sized set of keys….you aren’t going to carry it anywhere!!!

There are some cool bits. Midi interface, as you would expect. A normal headphone socket, not a 1/4 inch one! It’s dead easy to transpose pieces, there is a transpose option so you essentially play a piece as it is scored and it will change the key for you.

Overall, for the price, it’s a decent keyboard and I have a happy daughter! If she can get the midi connection to work with Sibelius she will be very happy indeed

Sobre el pedal de sustain, hay que poner buen odo.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersI’m slowly falling in love with my digital piano! When it arrived it was surprisingly heavy and surprisingly long. The full 88 keys of a concert grand! I mainly use the electric piano sound, this is why I bought it! I have no issues. She has become a well loved piece of furniture in my room! The sound is almost there, and the feel described by the same comment. But all in all quite pleasing to play. I would buy it again if I were to know now what I know now! She’s a good bit of kit.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersA great piano for students or any musicians who need a full size piano to practise on. The keys feel right and the action is firm. It also sounds good. The three acoustic piano voices are all very usable and there are some other good voices available too. It would have been better to have had a full size jack socket for the external output and serious pianists will need to buy the optional sustain pedal (as the one that comes with it is not brilliant), but these are minor issues.

Very good keybed . Awful sound. No half pedal . Its a basic piano ok, but don’t put other voices than piano and put half pedal. re. After some practice with the keyboard and paired with my JBL 305 . Well, I give 5 stars for my needs.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis digital piano just replaced my Yamaha P-45. The same sort of instrument however this is smaller, lighter and more portable. The depth of this piano is tiny for a weighted piano (6cm smaller than the P-45), it is unusual to be able to house a weighted, touch sensitive digital piano in such compact casing. The usual basic sounds you would expect to find on an electric piano, Grand, Electric, Organ, strings etc. There are 3 different grand piano sounds, the best being the bright grand piano. The piano comes with an impressive music stand, an AC adapter and a pedal. The piano is comparable with an app called Chordana which allows you to control your sounds from your tablet. The keys have a matt grain effect on them which I do not like they are meant to stop your fingers from slipping, they feel quite plastic and cheap. I much prefer a smooth key. Compared to other electric pianos I have used this one does not sound great but that is the price you pay for being so compact. However at 325 this is a good buy if having a compact keyboard is important to you. If you need a case for this and don’t want to spend 109 for the Casio made one, you may struggle as it is very compact. A standard keyboard bag will be too big.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI have been playing the keyboard for just over a year now, teaching myself. I’m not really interested in a keyboard having many different voices so I personally don’t mind that the keyboard doesn’t have very many. I really liked the keys themselves as alongside the hammer action that mimics that of a piano, they didn’t have a ‘clicky’ sound like others I have tried- if that makes sense. It also comes with a sustain pedal, which elongates the notes. It is quite heavy- getting it up stairs by myself was somewhat of a feat (though I am not very strong). Overall, I do really like this piano. The sound quality isn’t great but is very good for the price.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThe first thing I need to point out is that this keyboard is heavy. The box has 15Kg written on it. It’s manageable but awkward. Out of the box, the keyboard is roughly 4′ 4″ x 9.5″ x 3.5″. I have to admit it doesn’t look much compared to fancy keyboards with all sorts of voices and functions, but it sounds amazing. It’s also a much more manageable size than a real piano — even if you added Casio’s digital piano stand, which turns it into a permanent piece of furniture. Mind you, if you can cope with the weight, it is also portable, and Casio will sell you a bag to carry it in.

I’m not a musician, I’m just learning to play, so I have no experience with any kind of piano other than tapping a few keys on the odd occasion I’ve found myself in a room with one. The keys on this digital piano are reminiscent of those keys on real pianos. They are weighted and the movement feels solid. The feel of the keys under my fingers is good too. All in all I’m very happy with it and may well abandon my smaller keyboards, with all their complications, for this much simpler instrument, while I struggle to learn to play. They key feel is much better than those other keyboards, and I really like not having to mess about with different voices, and rhythm accompaniments and auto chords and all that stuff that makes playing more fun, but ultimately detracts from just getting down to practise.

It does have a few tricks up its sleeve though. Apart from the default Grand Piano, it has two other Grand Piano voices (I can’t tell much difference between them), three electric pianos, harpsichord, strings, pipe organ, and jazz organ. After the grand piano the pipe organ is my favourite. In my headphones, it takes me back to school choirs and singing hymns in church. Since this doesn’t have an LCD screen, accessing these functions seems simpler to me than with the multi-function keyboards. Hold down the function button and press whichever of the keyboard keys is assigned to the function you want. The keyboard gives a little bleep to let you know it’s accepted your input and off you go. All the functions are printed clearly on the surround adjacent to the appropriate key. It’s quick, simple, and works very well. As you might expect there is a built-in metronome and it is fully adjustable via the keyboard keys.

This keyboard comes with a pedal. The instructions say it makes the note reverb. I tried it and failed to detect any difference when I was using it from when I wasn’t.

Even though it has a limited number of instrument voices available, it does permit you to assign any two of them as the tones that sound when a key is pressed. I’m not sure how useful this is, but it’s fun to play around with.

One last thing that I especially liked. The music support, that slots into two holes in the keyboard surround, has a metal frame. This means that the load bearing bits aren’t plastic, and this stand is likely to last as long as the keyboard.

So if you want something that sounds good, and feels good, then I believe this digital piano to be worthy of consideration.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersIf you want several hundred instruments, sound effects, rhythms and multi-track recording, this isn’t for you. If you want an affordable, portable, full-sized keyboard that replicates the experience of playing a piano, this is pretty good value.

Full-sized, but with a narrow depth, this isn’t exactly light, but it’s more portable than many. It doesn’t come with a stand, but does have a sustaining pedal. Many piano keyboards have very plastic, shiny keys. This one attempts to create a more ivory-like matt surface and feels slightly odd at first, but it makes the keys less slippy. The keys are also more heavily weighted and the touch-sensitivity feels more responsive.

There are three piano voices, plus some three electric piano and a harpsichord, pipe organ, jazz organ and strings option, with an additional reverb and chorus option. There is also a metronome.

Overall, I was impressed, but felt that the sound could have been a little brighter. By making the keyboard more compact, I feel that the sound is slightly less rich than a CDP-120 I had, but my memory could be playing tricks on me.

I would still recommend this keyboard for anyone who wants the experience of playing a piano, but doesn’t have the space, or needs something transportable. It has a relatively limited number of functions, but it is possible to plug the keyboard into a computer or tablet, if you want to be more adventurous. For me, the most important thing is its musicality and the fact that the weighted keys will help to keep my fingers up to strength, so that I can easily play a real piano if I wish.
