Arrived in a couple of days, half the price of other sites. Car had failed its test due to emissions, warning light would come on randomly. Tried redex with no results, popped a bottle of this in and ran the car for about an hour on and off, we put a cloth under the exhaust and loads of dirt came out. Warning light has completely stopped. Will definitely buy again.
Car failed its MOT on emissions, quoted 600+ to replace a part. Didn’t trust the garage, bought this, used with some premium fuel, drove up and down the dual carriageway for an hour in lower gears; had another MOT a few days later, passed with flying colours.
My Mini R56 petrol (2009 – 98000 miles) failed MOT on Thursday, Co emission 0.43 instead of max 0.20
Order the product, put it in the petrol tank, drove 40 miles on motorway.
Next day MOT test Co emission 0.05 !!! Had to read the result twice to believe it 🙂
Thanks !!!
I have a Mazda 3 mps that has borderline passed emissions on MOT in recent years, I’ve used this Product every few months (one bottle) this year and decided to add one a day before MOT. The car passed and was reasonably lower emissions than the previous year so a thumbs up from me, I’ll continue to use cataclean.
We have an old 2008 Mini Cooper D that had a failed MOT because of excessive smoke. One bottle of this product, 20 miles on the motorway and everything was OK at the end. No idea about the effectiveness in cleaning up your engine but it works as a bail out.
Added to the fuel but after a few weeks the management light reappeared. Can not be certain that the additive was good or bad as the fault may lay elsewhere.
I bought this product for a Peugeot 308 estate and was having problem with the dpf, bit after using this product really helped. Stopped using for a while and the problem came back so will be ordering more. Excellent produc
I had been getting pretty bad MPG since I last serviced my car, usually about 42mpg however now I was getting 39mpg – I checked the faults to find the egr and manifold were having issues.
To find out the problem I took about the EGR and opening to the manifold and sprayed this stuff some manifold cleaner (cleaned the valve separately – it was filthy). To aid this I also put this cleaner in the fuel tank which has had amazing reviews. Needless to say either one or both have made my car start doing beyond 46mpg! Quite amazing.
with not doing any caravan towing at the moment short trips of 40 minutes or less one of my sons suggested i put this cleaner in the tank . will be filling up next month so will put some more cleaner in the tank
Like many, I was, and still am sceptical, that additives do what their manufacturer says they will. Having had a flashing check engine light twice recently, (misfire) when flooring it, my immediate thought was plugs or coils – my car has just over 100k on the clock..I spent about 400 changing plugs/coils, only for the light to come back on briefly the next time I gave it some gas.. I then suspected a failing /dirty o2 sensor, or an injector issue. I could not afford to swap out the injectors, it s V8, so thought about some sort of cleaning additive. This may alleviate clogged injectors, and/or dirty sensors.
In the end I spent about 12 on a bottle of cataclean, and used exactly as per instructions. i only use premium fuel anyway but I think they recommend filling up with this after use..
I have not noticed any better fuel consumption, or magic increases in perfomance BUT the flashing check engine light has not come on since I used it.. so far so good. I may update this after another use of cataclean, which i will do in 2 months, not 3, as i cover a lot of miles..
My old 07 Saab diesel estate was showing a particulate problem it has done 156k . Poured this into a quarter of a tank took it for a 30 mile drive and suddenly it feels more responsive and less smoke on start up. And the warning disappeared all for about 12 . Winner.
My car fails on emissions every year when I take it in for an MOT. this year I bought and used this product in a quarter of a tank of diesel, took it for a 15 mile drive and passed the MOT first time
I had some problems with my vehicle being sluggish when accelerating, so I bought to see if it would be a quick fix, the sluggishness has been somewhat improved but not completely resolved. However I did see a noticeable increase to my average miles per gallon so I will continue purchasing to see if there’s any further improvement.
Im a scectipal person.I take a punt,if it doesn’t work out, no worries,it’s only 12.
Listen up folks, this product fulfils every promise. My MB 500sl has been transformed;it now starts, idles, accelerates like an new car;it’s 28 years old ! Buy it, carefully follow the instuctions. BINGO! your cartransformed!
I used this product for my petrol car, it was very helpful it made emissions much cleaner. But I did not see any difference in mileage. The bottle is very easy to use because of its long neck shape. The seller is very good fast dispatch and timely communication.
I kept getting the engine light on my Subaru Forester turbo, and the code said that the catalyst wasn’t working to the required efficiency. I think the previous owner had always used cheap super market petrol and lots of short journeys. Anyway, a bottle of this, a tank of super unleaded and a 300 mile round trip sorted out the cat. Car went through the MOT well within the limits. Cars still fine a year later so this is well worth a try before replacing the cat.
I bought this after my 10 yr old diesel car failed MOT test last time..this time after using it, it went the MOT straight away..I’m.very pleased with the product.
Joh
Well this was purchased as my car had failed mot on emmisions, and I had seen this on shelf at ecp with a money back guarantee if your car failed on emmisions after using. Quick delivery, easy instructions, stuck it in my tank(mine was half full rather than the quarter they recommend) and I set off on my 15 mins drive as instructed (I ended up going for 30 mins) after a fair run, driving speeds from 35-70, staying in 4th keeping revs high to help.
Day after I’m pleased to say I passed my mot. I’m sure it won’t work for everyone, but it definitely helped me.
Amazing stuff. My dpf light had been on for ages and started to go limp but this stuff has sorted it. Put I’m the full tub in when you’ve got 1/4 of a tank left then use it for about 20 miles and fill up. Saved me hundreds of ‘s.
Cataclean is the only fuel additive that I know works … Twice now My car has failed the mot even after giving it a good thrashing along the A roads …add cataclean drive around for a hour …pass mot emission test well under limits …done this two years in a row …well worth 12
Update 2021 …had the same old scenario car fails mot …cataclean added and a 45 min drive and passes well under limits …think I’ll be adding it before MOT time each year from now on…till I can afford an electric ca
I have used this on every car I’ve owned since 2009, it has proven it’s worth every time I’ve used it, restoring engine performance, responsiveness and smooth running, my latest car, a 2006 Hyundai 1.5 turbo diesel developed issues, very poor cold starting, lots of smoke, torque was poor, it ran rough and was lacking power, put a bottle of Cataclean in with 5 gallons of fuel and a couple of days on she’s running like new, some lads on Youtube say it’s a placebo effect, that is definitely not, the case, it might take a few hot runs to sort your fuel issues out (unless you’ve got seriously worn injectors/pumps) but it definitely works.
I used this just before taking my car to the mot test, it’s good to use with half a tank of fuel and then fill so it all mixes well and then give a good drive before the test to let it get to work. It’s a great product though and can be used with all fuel types and just gives everything a real good clean up saving on costly maintenance bills! A good option for any driver, just pour in and let it do its magic at keeping your car running smoothly and lowering your emissions!
Bought this as it was recommended on a focus forum group. I needed to buy this as my car was due to an mot and I noticed exhaust was not a clear as it had been really easy to use and took the car on a long drive. The car passed mot on emissions with no issue and also noticed on my long drive that my average mpg went up from 45 to 53 so saving me money as well
Did the job on my 1997 BMW 540i .
My BMW is 22 years old, with almost 200,000 on the clock and although it always drives like new, it rather annoyingly failed its first ever MOT on emissions. Knowing that a new Twin Cat (V8) would potentially be a 400 job, I thought I would try a good clean first.
I put in 2 bottles of Cataclean (450ml) , as I already had half a tank of fuel. (recommendation is to mix 1 bottle with quarter of a tank / ie. approx 15 litres ) .
Took for a 30 minute drive at normal speeds, and it passed the MOT re-test the next day. No fuss. Highly recommended.
This product is really fantastic. Used it in my 2004 Suzuki jimny. It was running OK but was a bit sluggish. One dose of Catclean and there was really a noticeable improvement almost straight away. It is still not the speediest of cars but much more responsive than it was. Try it yourself. Follow the instructions and I am sure you that you will notice a significant improvement in your cars performance. Certainly it worked for me and I will use it regularly in future.
Not entirely sure if this works to be honest. I did see what I thought was an uplift in engine performance but my turbo injection is inconsistent anyway on an aging Ford focus so it may have just been placebo effect. I have seen performance dip again a few times since putting this elixir in, maybe that’s because it’s been a few months. There are cheaper alternatives I will be trying
my check engine light kept coming on after I reset the cars computer disconnecting the battery after reading reviews on this product I wasn’t sure it would work but touch wood the engine check light hasn’t come back on after 200 miles:) I jut hope it will pass the mot now .I will et you know. 500 miles and a new mot 12 it worked for me just I was dubious at first now im a convert mot passed happy days.
Needed this as I was told my cat had become sulphurized and after searching online I found this is because I haven’t been pushing the car as much due to me driving in a lot of stop start conditions. Poured in when my tank was at 1/4 and drove the car in low gears to get the engine working hard. Due to not being able to hit the motorway and not being able to drive above speed limits I found this method very effective and many people online suggested it as part of the “Italian tune up”.
So I stuck to 40MPH routes, starting off I would shift through gears 1-3 until I reach 40MPH, my car would sit at 3k revs, done this for approximately 15miles which was adequate time to warm up the engine. Later I decided to push the car further and drive in 2nd gear to get the revs even higher, I done this for another 15 miles and my revs would sit at 4.5-5k revs doing 40-45MPH. There came a point where I wouldn’t even have to shift to gear 1 due to redlights working in my favor. But at one point where I did have to stop the vehicle, the engine was super silent and was purring and setting off again was super effort less. So I definitely believe this works, I will be trying it again on the recommended cycle of every 3 months as it’s already made a noticeable difference, I also had a K&N installed and the car feels alot better now.
Used in a bmw 530d with increased emissions warning. Having checked and replaced some vacuum pipes, replaced maf sensor etc. Only possible issue was lambda/02 sensors pre and post cat in the exhaust. Used one bottle of this with a quarter tank and following day, engine light had cleared itself and remains off most of the time so did it’s job. Passed MOT 2 days after use with no engine light on or emissions problems. Recommend i
Had to reset my VW T5 as the Cat light had shown that there was a fault, so have given this product a go to see if keeps the Cat and the sensor from sooting up. Too early to tell at the moment but seems to be doing the job. Might buy another bottle later just to keep it in check.
I bought this to help my Mini Cooper S get through the MOT emissions test which it did. Minis seem to err on the rich side of running and I wanted help to reduce this which it did well enough to pass.
Would the mini have passed without it? That’s a difficult question to answer but I believe it certainly helped.
Some people describe these types of products as snake oil or worthless but seemingly not in my case.
As a tool to reduce emissions it gets the thumbs up from me and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
The ratings for scent and mileage were academic to me so I’ve rated low solely for this.
Have used this several times now to seemingly put out an erratic DPF warning light on an 10-year old Citroen C5 prior to the MOT. Add to a one-third full tank 100 miles or so before the test is due and several times this resulted in the light going off for a while, enough to get through the test now that this warning light is included as part of a categoric MOT test fail as part of the engine management system, even though it relates to exhaust emissions control, which in our case passed ok. Doesn’t of course mean that the DPF isn’t faulty, but it has been cleaned. Prevents writing off a perfectly otherwise roadworthy car only doing 2000 miles or so a year that would go on for several years more without this unreasonable change to the MOT regulations.
I drive an 11 year old Skoda 14 TDI with a PD diesel engine fitted to it. I have used this stuff for near on 3 years. I personally believe it is a top quality product and has helped improve the performance of my car. I was travelling less than 5000 miles per year and was getting worried the DPF filter would eventually become problematic. Not so, when Cataclean is used. Just run the fuel level in your tank down till it reaches the red mark, then add a bottle of Cataclean. Give your car a blast up the motorway then fill it up. Never had a problem with an MOT smoke test. I use every 4 months.
This stuff is fantastic! Ordered on prime for next day delivery but came 4 days later. Anyway once it came I poor the whole bottle in to my tank and let it sit for a min to do it’s job. I mainly fill up at Tesco and their fuel has more crap in it than a festival porter loo. Once in the car I pull off and start driving to run the fluid through with the fuel. Didn’t even get 3 miles away and my engine light that has been there for over a year has vanished. I was amazed and kept driving to do the recommended 15 minute drive. As I was driving through Leicester a massive Nissan 4×4 decided to drive up my back end so far I could almost taste his dash board. After 3 or 4 minutes of driving under the speed limit to wind him up a head appears out his window shouting. I laughed as his turban almost blew off. Just as that happened a large single cloud of black soot came out the back of my car covering his nice white Nissan. After he turned off I drove normally for the rest of the way home noticing the light is still off and the engine seems more responsive. This stuff is fantastic and worth the money but it didn’t do anything about the crap drivers round Leiceste
The engine management light came up on the dash so thought I would give it a try, the light went off but came back on a few days later so put another dose in, same result. The car test was due so decided to give it one last go, the light went out the car flew through the emissions test and so far the light has stayed off. The problem might have been caused by putting cheap petrol in I am now back using the premium stuff.
I thought this might be snake oil but for the sake of 13 I thought I’d give it a go. I have a Volvo V70 with the D4 engine and the infamous “check engine” light problem. The light had come on again (seventh time in 32000 miles). I followed the instructions, i.e. added the whole bottle to a quarter of a tank of diesel and ran the car up and down the dual carriageway for 20 miles then filled up with diesel (it was BP Ultimate) and went home. The next morning I started the car and the check engine light was off. I am well pleased with this stuff and I’ll use it every three months as they recommend from now on.
Sceptical is not a word I use as normally I can not spell it.. But this product works wonder when using it on 04 1.0ltr micra and I went out the next day to see a 17 plate Ford mustang in its place.. Amazing it really did work.. Then I noticed I had parked my car further up the street and it was still there with serious rust to all wheel arches.. I took it for a spin and can confirm that apart from people staring at me and my micra mainly through jealousy this product does actually work..
You may be buying this because your MOT is coming up. Well this will definitely help you through the MOT, but more than that, it does actually change the way your engine runs. Used this for a couple of years now and each time I find my engine runs smoother afterwards and sound better too. Also passes MOT test with ease. I’d say it’s good value because it actually works. Get it and see
Purchased this after reading a lot of reviews and decided to use it. It certainly seems to have improved the performance in the engine, from ticking over smoothly to a feeling that the car is smoother through the gears. It went in for an M. O. T., a few days after adding it and the emissions test was no problem, and my car is 15 years old! I will definitely use it again.
I have a 12 year old BMW Z4 which was showing an intermittent “check engine” warning light on the dash. A diagnostic check indicated that the catalytic converter was not functioning properly. My mechanic said that the cat may need replacing, but that it may well be worthwhile trying Cataclean as a first option. So I bought a twin pack (21), followed the instructions and it seems to have sorted the problem. The “check engine” light hasn’t shown itself for some 9 months now. The car also had no problems passing its MOT emissions test. I daresay the cat will need replacing at some point, but I intend using a bottle of Cataclean annually in the hope that I can delay replacement for some time yet.
Got a 2015 Suzuki DL 650 V-Strom with 16000 miles on the clock. Really didn’t feel it was down on performance and I am very sceptical about fuel additives ( don’t believe they work ). However, a friend recommended this Cataclean product for the favourable results she got from her bike.
I poured the full can ( 500ml ) in to my freshly filled tank ( 20 litres ) and had a planned ride out with some friends. We covered 120 miles of fun. WELL, I was pleasantly surprised at what I witnessed. The engine become soo much more responsive & smoother on acceleration and normal unloaded running. I am soo impressed with the results I will try it in my other bikes. It has transformed the bike. NOT extra speed, not at all, but soo much more responsive & smoother. Love it!!!
This product had good reviews. I used it in a 2002 Porsche 911 with 95k miles. The car has no known issues except a smoky first time of the day startup (probably an AOS issue), but it is used for quite a few short journeys. So I decided to use Cataclean before last weeks MOT, just as an insurance, and it passed with no issues. So I don’t know how much the treatment helped, and it’s too soon to judge any mpg benefits, but the car is certainly running very smoothly.
I’ve tried all kinds of cleaners in the past and to be honest this isn’t really any different from any other product on the market. This product does work though and you know that your dpf and cat are being looked after. Good buy
My daughters Aygo EML came on and was showing the P0420 code just before its MOT, Not having the time to start pulling it apart i took a gamble on this and it paid off (Albeit temporary) I reset the code and it flew through the MOT emmision test, The EML came back on about 3 weeks later so ive still got to sort it out though can be a bit more leisurely about it!
I purchased this as my car (a 2005 Citroen C4) was behaving sluggishly. It struggled to start on some mornings and my engine check light was coming on. After taking it in to the garage and them changing sensors etc there was no real change in behaviour. I thought that I might as well try cataclean because of the positive reviews. I used as instructed and my car seems more responsive and has not struggled to start. Frankly, I am amazed. I will be looking to use quarterly as suggested.
My son’s 1.0 2007 corsa marginally failed co2 emissions. Fast idle limit 0.20 result 0.56. Garage quoted him 380 to replace both o2 lambda sensors.
After searching round for a solution, I found good reviews for cataclean.
I used as instructed. Full bottle to 15 litres. Then over the next 2 days I got the car hot and drove it really hard.
Took it back for a retest and it passed with a result of 0.08.
This product is definitely worth a try before starting expensive repairs.
I failed my emissions with very high co and also failed lambda reading. I replaced the lambda sensor, changed the oil, ran through cat cleaner, and went for an ‘italian tune up’ i.e. drove it at high revs for several miles with lots of hard acceleration to get the cat very hot and burn off excess carbon build up. It passed.
Who knows which of the above helped the most but try the above combo before mot if you are worried about failing.
I have a mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 petrol I suspected I had a fuel issue as car started running lumpy and had an idling issue this all came about after fuel ran low one day car coughed and spluttered and issue disappeared until fuel went low again so I thought I’d give this a try to clean out the fuel system so put this in and it seems to have done the trick for now car is running and driving much better now and even after 5 mins I could tell it was making a difference I ran car for 20 mins and then another 20 on different road types and put fuel in… I’m going to try it on wife’s car now would recommend it seems to work so long u put it in with 1/4 tank of fuel in tank. So product seems to work well
Although I first used this product just over a month ago I felt my Land Rover Defender needed another clear out. I followed the instructions again and again I have found a noticeable difference in the car.
My Defender has done 195000 miles and I didn’t expect to notice some much the second time round. I now have gained about 20 miles per tank in fuel economy. Pick up in all gears is vastly improved and the exhaust gases are so much cleaner.
Highly recommend you use this product especially if you have a diesel DPF regeneration issue. This could save you money.
I have VW Golf MK4 TDI 1.9. 125k miles on the clock. I observed that the pick up of the car has detoriated and the smoke of the car started smelling. No other issues. At full service, the mechanic told me that the reason for low pickup can be clogged jets and the reason for smelly fumes can be clogged catalytic converter. I did some research and found this product. I was about to go on a 250 mile trip. So when the fuel was quarter tank full, I emptied the bottle in to the diesel tank. I Drove at 70 mph speed on 4th gear. After the trip, pickup improved noticeably and the smelly fumes problem vanished! So this product does what it says on the tin. I recommend this product to anyone with similar issues with their diesel cars.
I figured it was worth a try, no reason not to when facing a 115+ price tag for a new catalytic converter. I had been doing a lot of short trips over the winter, just to and from work. And thus my car started to experience symptoms of a failing or clogged cat. I caught it in time and ordered this stuff, and it completely reversed the problems i was having. It was such a huge relief, i cannot recommend catalean enough.
If it works for you, great. If not, then at least you tried.
Appears to have worked for me, Range Rover sailed through emissions test. Follow instructions carefully regarding amount of fuel in tank, too much and you will dilute the cleaner too much. Run the tank down to when the low warning light comes on then top up as normal. I had a spare can of fuel in case I ran too low. Also I ran the car along the motorway to ensure the engine and exhaust were nice and hot while the Cataclean was in the cars petrol tank.
I’m really surprised with this product. My 2006 Focus 1.6 petrol was constantly hesitating and I would never have guessed that this bottle would fix the problem. Replaced to many components without success. Pouring this cleaning agent down the tank pipe was my last resort without expecting anything. But I couldn’t be more wrong.
This product is a regular purchase for me and I can thoroughly recommend it as it keeps the fuel lines clear and holds an ongoing O2 sensor issue at bay.
One small detail worth noting … these are 500ml containers and not 450 as stated in the title – I`m surprised the sellers haven`t picked up on that fact.
Oh well, this product is just amazing. I used it on my diesel car and what I found was impressive. My car was well smoother to drive, fuel consumption was lowered so it was more economical (can save that money to buy another bottle in 6 months time), and finally my MPG increased. So if you really want to improve your car efficiency get this product and you will not regret it.
Just make sure that you have around 1/4 of your tank with diesel and then fill your tank with the Cataclean and drive for about 15 mins.
What an amazing product . My car failed it’s MOT due to emmissions. I was told it would be cheaper to scrap the vehicle rather than get it fixed. I bought this product used it and took my car for a good run . I then went to another garage for a second opinion & it passed that mot without any problems. Would definitely recommend buying this product .
I am a courier and bought my latest van last November. I run it 6 days a week for an average of 8 hours a day and in that period I might turn it off 5 or 6 times so you can imagine how hard the engine is working. The van has been chucking out thick black smoke whenever you rev it a little to hard so I thought i’d give this product a go ( last van cost me two new converters )
I added the cataclean this morning and just left the van to idle for 20 minutes as I won’t get round my routes on a quarter of a tank. Ran the van as normal all day and when I got back to the depot in the evening I put her in neutral and gave her a bit of a rev… and …
NO SIGN OF ANY BLACK SMOKE!!
excellent product which I would recommend all day long.
Excellent product. My volvo diesel xc90 was quite smocky and smelly when I would start my engine in the morning. Especially in winter you could see and smell the smoke. Since I used the product is can assure you the engine is clean and clear. Wonderful. I will buy anothet one for my petrol car.
Used under advice from my local service technician and it seems like this has had an effect. Primarily on fuel economy. It has increased from 43MPG to 47MPG mixed which is pretty significant.
Also, starting is easier. I did use a couple of other products so it is hard to isolate which one worked but taking that into account, pleased with the product.
Performance? Hard to say because it was alright before, but certainly no negative effects. I feel like the engine is slightly quieter.
I am very sceptical about these products and their claims, however I thought I would give this a go.
My car is a 2011 Peugeot 207 1.6 turbo diesel with FAP (Particulate filter), 5 door
Most of my mileage is on out of town ‘B’ roads and I do about 14,000 miles a year for leisure. Driven gently and carefully.
The car is an ex-demonstrator that I bought at 1 year old with 8,000 miles on the clock, it has now done 72,000.
It has been regularly main-dealer serviced from new and has Michelin Energy tyres and is run on standard BP diesel.
My MPG, as per in-car computer (and verified by mileage/fill-ups) was around 65MPG but had been falling over the last 10,000 miles to around 55MPG. On a specific run the MPG dropped from 64MPB to 56MPG.
I followed the instructions and at 1/4 tank emptied the full bottle into my fuel tank and drove for about 80 miles at regular speeds (average about 50MPH) and then refilled the tank. I noticed no difference when driving on the mixture.
That was a week ago. I have now covered the specific journey where my MPG had dropped (see above). On the journey today, under the same conditions I got 68MPG and the car felt smoother and more eager to pull. My conclusion is that this product does indeed work.
Some say this and products like it don’t work. My 1.3 cdti Astra had an intermittent egr fault and was generally not right, running rough and hesitant. I used cataclean and after a few miles the egr light came on constantly for about a week, however the car felt better to drive. After a week the light went off and has been off for 2 months. Not sure how it works, I can only asume this stuff has cleaned the inlet and injectors allowing the engine to properly burn off or clean out all the crud blocking the exhaust part of the cars engine. I can’t think of anything else that could have fixed this problem, the next step was stripping the egr off and cleaning/replacing, so result!!! The cars running great still
As I write I know I will have to come back to this review after enough time has passed to check out the results properly. I must say that it seems to have been an instant fix, even though I didn’t use it as specified. Some explanation – I have a VW that uses oil like it’s going out of fashion and nearly ran out of the stuff (new to me and never had a car that is an oilaholic) so in a panic I overdid the refill; Engine management lights, misfiring and all sorts of stomach churning stuff started to happen, changed plugs and cleaned up the air input; things a little better but still not good. I was running the tank down to a quarted so I could use the Cataclean (as specified) but father in law taken into hospital for an emergency operation, wife understandably wants a full tank of petrol so I tipped in the bottle and drove randomly for eleven miles on way to fill up, tank over half full. All yellow lights off, one brief reappearance, but generally amazing change. I bought the duo pack of Cataclean so as soon as the hospital situation is resolved I’ll drop the tank level to a quarter and use the other bottle. After that I’ll revisit this review and update. as a note I have seen some pretty dreadful reviews but it goes without saying that if the Cat is dead then it’s dead – I think my cat had a nasty cold from breathing in too much oil.
I bought this as my Mazda RX-8 had failed it emission test on the MOT. I was recommend to purchase this to clear out the rubbish.
I put the whole contents into the fuel tank, as directed on the bottle. After driving around for a little while, I took the car back the next day, and it past the MOT emissions test!! Job done.
I highly recommend this product for RX-8s before you go for an MOT. Could save you lots of money.
I don’t understand how this stuff works but it does! I have a 2009 Suzuki Swift Sport which was displaying the engine management light for an in-efficient CAT. Clearing the fault would last a maximum of 2 weeks before it was back. Using this product kept the light off for 6 months! honestly this stuff works! I have just used it for a second time and again the light is staying off. Both times I have used it I have taken the car for a decent motorway run with it in the tank.
My car had been running like an old dog, coughing and spluttering, sluggish acceleration etc. Came across this by accident and thought it’s worth a try. Emptied the bottle in to 1/4 tank of fuel, not expecting to much. Anyway, yesterday went down the road and immediately, the throttle was responsive, iddle was perfect, no rattles or shaking, the rpm was constant and not fluctuating. The drive has been a pleasure, the power restored and my mpg had gone up to 31mpg, and haven’t seen that on the Beamer for a long while. Liquid science that really works. I would recommend this before the alternative and costly garage bill. I will be using every 3months as directed, and subscribe and save it shall be. Well done on such a perfect product that says and does exactly what is on the tin/bottle.
Ok, first things first. Wh did I buy this? My Saab 9 e 1.9 tid was running badly … Lumpy and the mpg had dropped to 25.3!! Had wafts of black smoke from exhaust. I did some looking online and found this only to discover I had one in the garage!
Followed the instructions and emptied it into my tank, which was a little over quarter full.
I started the car and let it idle. The revs on tick over were up and down for a few mins. Then I took the car out for a drive. To start with it was not that responsive but got it on a dual carriageway and took it through the gears, then hit the hills. I could tell it was smoother after about twenty miles. Got home and checked the mpg .. Up to 43 which it where it normally is.
Been running it for a few days and the power is back. Running around country roads it is showing me 44 mpg now, no black smoke and smooth running.
I am very pleased and will order another for the three month treatment as recommended.
Simply amazing. My automatic Astra H SRI has never run better. The engine management light was on but has not been on since i put this in 4 weeks ago. Its like driving a new car. Along with putting decent petrol in the tank, this stuff has saved me a few quid no doubt that the garage would have charged me to fix the fault with a diagnostic check. Will use this every 3-4 months without fail. Really has made a massive difference in driving the car and so much more responsive now.
So, I was prepared to be disappointed by this product. I had an annoying issue where my Merc diesel would go into limp mode sometimes. Having a google it pointed to a bunged up cat (due to only town use by me). I chucked this magic potion in a nearly empty tank and had a vigorous drive for an hour, gave her a good ‘Italian tune up’ down the motorway. Voila! No more limping! I think the car pulls better now (but that could be placebo effect). I’d give this bottle of witchcraft a try if you’re getting limp mode or a check engine light.
I’m a very skeptical person in general towards anyone who promises anything but it would be remiss if I didn’t say what an incredible change this product has made in my car engine’s performance. I added it to my 3/4 empty diesel tank, and my car is racing so fast, it almost scares me!
Here are a few things I did which might be useful tips. I also added STP 61300EN Oil Treatment for Diesel Engines to my oil tank and I drove full throttle in second gear which spewed out all the soot and the residue in the Catalytic Converter and in air manifolds. Bare in mind, this product is not a mechanic to repair or change your faulty catalytic converter so if your car needs a spare part, this product is not gonna make a big difference. However if your converter is not faulty but rather clogged by residue, you’re gonna be amazed by the massive change this product will render to your car’s performance.
I was a bit of a non believer in the the old snake oil but thought for the sake of a few quid I would give this a try, I was having a cylinder misfire and suspected it would be the coil pack, computer said cylinder 3 so swapped coil pack for cylinder 1 to see if the fault would follow, the engine was running like a bag of spanners and engine management light came on when idling (BMW 320i normally sweet as a nut) Anyhow, the computer also reported the Cat to be ‘dirty’ (I can’t remember the code) so I poured a bottle of this in a quarter of a tank of fuel and took it for a leisurely Sunday drive (Yeah right!) anyhow, next thing the engine is picking up like it hasn’t for a long time and on return and plugging the analyser back in, all the faults are cleared! Now it may be a coincidence and in swapping the coil packs we may have corrected a bad connection etc but as I say, this stuff seemed to work, I will be using it at the 3 monthly intervals as suggested as a part of my maintenance regime.
Engine Man Light was constantly on Code was saying Cat was below performance level. I have 2003 Vauxhall Omega 2.2 Lt which has done 96,000, it was running sluggish and erratic tickover. I bought this product after reading the reviews although I was sceptical due to mileage on
my car. Well I couldnt have been more wrong, I followed instructions on Bottle to the letter I then too car for 40 mile motorway drive and kept
car restricted to 4th gear averaging 70 mph. Just about after 32 miles car gave an almighty misfire and immediately returned to normal running, by time I got home car was running maybe 60 % – 70% better both on acceleration and idling was 100% better. That was 4 Days ago and just seems
to be about as good as new, accelerates well through all gears and is quieter overall. Anyone who has same problem don’t take my word for it all
I can say is 13 for this or listen to Garage telling you that Cat is knackered, there’s no choice what have you got to lose, fantastic product, it does exactly what it says on Bottle.
Cataclean brilliant gear sorted my car out and saved me 600.00 for new Cat. As I only do short journeys must have been clogging things up, well I will be buying this CATACLEAN regular now, also I suggest if you only do short journeys give your car a treat and get down the motorway once a month for about 15-20 mile blast.
After doing much research this helps get the crap out of everything. What happens is especially the catalytic converter with its tiny holes get bunged up and then it will over heat then you have a drastic melt down very expensive replacement.
Like many people I had read reviews on this before purchasing.
So after reading mainly good reviews and a few negative I decided to delve in an buy the cataclean. My engine management light had came on which after checking on my reader gave me a p0420 code (basically catalytic converter issue)
I follower the instructions for use, letting my tank go down to quarter full and putting the cataclean in. Drive it until the light comes on and the fill back up.
I took the car on the motorway for about a 40miles for constant driving to help the cleaning process.
I would say after about 80-100 miles my engine management has now turned off and stayed off since.
My Audi TT failed its mot on emissions, the CO was too high, after reading about this product thought it might be worth a try for the money as the price for labour for engine diagnostic would be alot more that 15. I added to my tank on the morning of the retest and ran the car on A roads and town for about 45 mins and dropped it straight in for mot. Result the car sailed through the test, CO fell from 1.11 to 0.05, HC 132 to 17 and lambda was about the same at 1.000. I did give the car had a longer run b4 the mot, but the drop in readings was quite a bit so Cataclean must of done something good.
This stuff really does work. My 15 year old Vauxhall Corsa failed it’s MOT on CO emissions (0.57%) so, on recommendation, I added a bottle of Cataclean to 15 litres of fuel, then gave the car some welly (high revs) in 3rd on the by-pass a couple of times, clocking up about 10 miles, just enough to get the engine hot, allowing the vapour to strip out all the gunk in the system. Magically on the re-test the CO emissions were down to 0.22% and a pass (that’s a reduction of nearly 40%). I’m sure this could be improved on with a bit more driving and a re-treatment.
I bought the item so could clean the sensors before trouble starts! Only real show I have seen is that idle speed as gone down at idle from cold start ( as they used to say auto choke) but least I know my car , bought three months ago Toyota avensis petrol 06 full dealer history, will resume running good like my mk1 avensis which I kept for 14 years , bash ali, was well packed , and came goid
OMG wow! I just used it. Put in the whole bottle at quarter tank of petrol, took it on the motorway and belted my MG TF and kept her on gear 3 at 60mph as recommended by my mechanic and reviewers here. All i can say is, alot of smoke came out for a minute from the exhaust, and now my car growls like a tiger, glides like a kite, and feels smooth like butter. I’m getting more miles to the gallon (i noticed this several hours later) and she starts PERFECTLY from cold! Its freezing today and my car started up with a perfect growl and laughed at the cold. It was just epic. I’ll defo be using another bottle next month just to kick start it and then once every three months as recommended!
No exaggeration here, but my car does have ALOT of it’s sexy engine qualities back
Excellent product that actually works, used this for a over three years now, a few days before the MOT add it to a quarter tank of petrol give the car a blast up the motorway and its guaranteed to reduce your emissions, just as a point of interest put the car in for a MOT this year ( 10 year old Suzuki) without cataclean and emissions were all over the place, used the product took it back and passed with flying colours, some of the readings were actually 0.00 as good as a new vehicle, try it you won’t be disappointed!
Hello, I had a 1999 reg Toyota Corolla that failed miserably on its emissions during it’s MOT. Having read the reviews on Amazon I thought it was worth a try given what the alternative costs could have been. So, I put 10ltrs of fuel in, a bottle of Cataclean and I set off for a 50 mile drive to let it filter through. I took the car back to the MOT centre and it sailed through it’s re-test. Brilliant!! Job solved for next to nowt. I would recommend this product to people facing a similar dilemma to my own.
Added this to my 16yr old 4ltr Jeep Cherokee. I’ve had the car from new and love it so much I cannot part with it but I have noticed it having an uneven idle and a feeling that it is working harder than normal. So far all my emissions tests have been well within limits but at this age I thought – what the hell.
Amazingly from the start the engine felt stronger & smoother – normally I have to give a bit of throttle to back up my drive but after allowing the engine to run a little it reversed up without needing to touch the throttle.
A 20 mile run seems to have given the car a bit more pep. It sounds quieter and pulls more easily.
I’ll be monitoring the effect in the longer term and may throw another bottles worth in in the next month.
Additional comment
Now in Feb 2015 and just added another bottle. Again the car seems pepped up. I think I will add another in 3 mths – it will clear out the Cat and after so many years of adding nothing, plus its a 4 Litre engine, there could be plenty of gunge to clean out.
My 1998 Mazda Xedos failed its emission test on MOT for the first time this year. My car is only used infrequently and most of the use is stop and start visits to the gym 4 miles away. Every three months we have a 250-mile blast to London and back, but due to family illness, no more. The CO results on the MOT were twice the legal limit on the latest MOT.
Explored my options and ordered a service of oil/filter, air filter, fuel filter and plugs change. But before taking in, I reduced my fuel tank to below 15L (a quarter, on my car’s tank) then added the Catacare.
WOW! It was like driving a new car. I got that “pressed back into the drivers seat under acceleration” feeling that I’ve never had in the 7 years I’ve owned the car!” It was a beast, and its performance equalled its V6 24v roar!
Just got notice from the garage that it passed its emission test, passed the MOT and can’t wait to pick it up tomorrow for some TLC wash and polish. My pride and joy!
Cataclean REALLY impressed me. I will be using it every 6 months from now on, then just before the next MOT.
I can’t recommend this enough. For a few weeks now the check engine light had been on.
The folks at the auto shop ran the diagnostics and told that the catalytic converter wasn’t doing its job.
I decided to buy an OBD2 Bluetooth scan tool and installed Torque on my Android tablet. The error code stored on my car’s ECU was the well known P0420.
The vehicle test result showed that the O2 sensor 2 had an output of 32, when the mininum acceptable was 50. I don’t know the specifics, but this was obviously a bad thing.
I waited for the gas tank to lower to a quarter capacity and went for a 70 kilometres run. The result? The check engine light is no longer lit!
I checked the vehicle test once again and the 02 sensor output had gone to over 200.
Every single test is green. Cataclean really worked for my case and allowed me to save a lot of money. Highly recommended.
After an engine rebuild and knowing that one the cat’s was ‘in trouble’ I embarked on a 3 week journey with Cataclean. First bottle started the process but not enough. A further 2 bottles (at the same time) resulted in the engine management light going out for a day. A further 2 bottles seems to have finally done the trick and cleaned out the left hand cat on my V6. Like many I initially believed that 1 bottle would suffice. In my case that was not so. I recommend you persevere before putting hand in pocket for a new catalytic convertor. For less than 100 I have not had to spend 900 plus fitting plus VAT on a new cat.
I have been having issues with the engine and exhaust, a misfire and bad running to put in a nut shell and I was advised it could be a blocked o2 sensor and cat so this product could help.
I was of course sceptical as so many products make claims they never fulfil but I added this to the fuel tank as instructed and ran the car for half an hour at normal speeds and the next day the noise had almost gone ,the engine ran smoother and the car was like a different vehicle.
I then drove a 90 mile round trip to Silverstone and the misfire has now stopped and the exhaust which had a rattle is now silent, it really did work.
All this in 4 days and hopefully better fuel consumption over time.
The car is a 2001 Peugeot 206 and does mainly short runs hence the advise to try to clean the system.
Very happy, give it a go.
Anybody who lives in United Kingdom knows all too well MOT time and Road Tax. My car, Lexus ES300 had the code P0420 code for a year. I needed a new cat converter but was not in a position to shed more than 300 UK sterling pounds for a new one. After shopping through Amazon, I saw this chemical which had a lot of ratings and decided to use it as recommended. At the same time, emission tests had just been raised by 2% and I worried that my Lexus was going to fail. Well it never did. It passed with flying colors and have not seen that Engine Light again. I did not care if the engine light would come ON after my MOT test, but I have been driving more than 100miles without it. This chemical saved me countless amounts of money and frustrations. Thanks very much. In fact I just bought more for use.
It works just give it a trial.
For the last couple of years I’ve had trouble getting my car through the MOT emissions test due to the bore being worn on one of the cylinders so it burns a bit of oil. Last year it took 15 minutes to get it through and it just scraped through.
A few weeks ago I had it just emissions tested at the MOT garage and it was over so I ordered some cataclean and put it in my car. I took my car back three weeks later for its actual MOT and the CO was 0.1 for both idle and fast idle. I’d use it again in any other car that was having trouble with emissions.
I took a punt, bad reviews and all, apparent court case too.
Little 2005 Corsa 1.0 has done 116,000 miles and the previous owner used it for commuting to work, he said it was leaking oil, it hasn’t used any in the year since we bought it so I asked him why he thought there was an oil leak, he said he had to keep topping it up to the top of the metal bit on the dipstick…. oh dear… overfilling it so the oil has to find somewhere to go! Anyway, it was lumpy on idle and chattery when in between gears, it also sounded like the cam followers were worn, clicking like hell.
Well, I did as the instructions told me and now it idles smoothly, it doesn’t chatter and the followers are working as I would expect. Personally I always thought these additives were ‘snake oil’, until I tried some oil additive last year which made the Corsa run smoother, now it runs like a watch, well not quite but you get the drift I hope.
You can call me an old fool but the stuff worked for me. Will it work on wifey’s L200? If they give me a free bottle I would report back.
ive seen a lot of negative ratings for this product
but not 1 has stated they put it in and run the car as normal for 7 days first witch you have to do to get the best results from this
i only put this in my fuel tank ( full tank ) on the day of it arriving i have seen a mark difference already with my car i have more power better acceleration and better up hill speeds now
i always get a warning light on with an EGR failing witch in turn messes up the O2 censer on the car i still get the EGR problem its not going to fully clean i gunk up EGR that rely needs changing but even after 1 days driving i no longer get the o2 censer failing all the time
Well, I guess that we’ve all got reservations about fuel additives but I’m going to buy more of this product ‘cos it works for me. I did as directed and poured the bottle of Cataclean into 1/4 tank of fuel (in this case, diesel) and drove normally for the recommended mileage.
My vehicle is a Renault Scenic 1.9 DCI with 225,000 kms on the clock (I live in Spain) which I bought new in 2001. Obviously by now it has slowed down considerably (especially in hilly country) and it had a pronounced hesitation at 2,750 revs when going up through the gears.
I must admit that really was surprised that after about 75 kms, this flat spot had completely gone. After about another 100 kms, I dieselled up and have now done a further 200 odd kms.
The car is now much more tractable especially in town. It goes up hills like it did when it was much younger and the tickover is much smoother. So far the fuel consumption remains the same, I put it down to the fact that the engine is now more free revving so it tends to get used as such.
I will repeat this procedure at least once a year and hopefully maintain an improved drive.
Audi A4 2004 Avant 1.9 TDI 130 6 Speed Sport. Each time I fill up the computer usually projects on previous driving style about 605 / 615 miles on a full tank this has dropped for some bizarre reason to 545 or there abouts? I have used just one bottle of this potion and it projects 660 – never done that before but the turbo lag is less pronounced and a slightly crisper acceleration has been noticed I will check the overall mileage next time when filling up with a full tank and see what the actual mileage has been but based on what I’ve experienced so far ‘brilliant’ I’ve just purchased another 2 bottles which I wouldn’t do if I had any apprehension about it.
Recommended by my mechanic who used it to get through excess unburnt hc test on MOT. Because of constant short trips, this has been a major problem for some years, finally leading to failure. This stuff cured that, and I don’t need a new cat. Plan is to use maybe quarterly to maintain condition, at that rate it’s no more expensive than other additives or posh petrol and it really does work. The engine even sounds better, the exhaust smells better and although it’s hard to tell yet, it looks like mpg is going up. There were no problems at all with the packaging. Money very well spent.
I received the package as stated, but, it was leaking. I contacted the seller and they promptly sent me a replacement and I disposed off the earlier one.
Coming to the product – what should I say???
It exactly does what it is supposed to do and what’s on the tin.
My car is a E39 530d with about 114K on the clock, you can imagine the clogs or blocks..internally after 10yrs. After putting the CATACLEAN in the tank(the approx. fuel in the tank is about 15ltrs and the engine is at its optimum temp), I took it for a spin in the town and pushed the pedal hard on the motorway. I could see black smoke initially, but after 10-15mins it’s like NEW again. Really impressed. Next day the major difference I noticed was that the car was reaching it’s optimum temp very quick which was good. After refuelling, I was amazed to see the improvement in MPG as told by ‘OnBoardComputer’. Will have to wait a month or so to confirm the actual improvement anyway.
This is a very good product, I beleive.
“This stuff is amazing I did exactly what it says on the bottle and my TDI Golf Diesel MK 4 runs smoother and has more response and I hardly have to change gear I would recommend this to anyone I’ve tried fuel additives and to me they don’t work this stuff really does. This is what I did I ran my car until I got a quarter of a tank left made sure my car was warmed up then put cataclean in then ran my car for 15-20 miles driving normally then refuelled and I was blown away with the speed power of the car just like when it was new at first you don’t know whether there is a difference but after a little while you soon realise that it worked where as a fuel additive does not. Remember this stuff is not a fuel additive and can be put into Diesel,Petrol or Hybrid engines.
If your a bit hesitant to try this in your car try it first on a old car that you don’t really care about. I took a gamble and put it in mine and I’m glad I did.
I’m pretty sceptical about these wonder potions and I took the plunge with Cataclean for my beloved and pampered RX-8, more as a precaution for the Cat rather than trying to fix an issue that existed. Consequently, its difficult to know if I’ve gained anything!
What I can say is that I feel it was money well spent and sub-consciously its nice to know that the engine has had a bit of a “detox” and the Oxygen sensors and Cat have had a good old clean. I fully intend to use a bottle every six months going forward.
I know of some guys who have had dramatic success with this stuff too, whereby it has cured engine check lights and thereby saved serious money forking out elsewhere.
Definitely worth a go even if you have no current engine problems. Just ensure you follow the usage instructions closely.
Great product I have a ten year old Hijet van which when I bought it had just been run around town. Within 100 miles of a long journey home to France the engine management light came on and was diagnosed as Lambda sensors. The computer was re set and it did another 300 miles before coming on again so when I got home I traced Lambda sensors but spoke to my friend who has a garage near us and he re set the computer again and suggested Cataclean to clean the sensors. Hey Presto no more trouble. So every year she gets a dose of Cataclean.
Only downside was the packaging when shipped which caused damage and leakage to one of the containers not so good but hopefully the supplier will improve packaging. CATACLEAN Catalytic converter EXHAUST CLEANER
Cataclean was recommended by my garage to try getting rid of the smell of bad eggs coming from the Catalytic Converter, before carrying out the expensive remedy, i.e. replacement of the Catalytic Converter. They advised me to follow the instructions on the bottle, which I did and the results were amazing. I refilled fuel tank, as per instruction, then did a 200mile trip, the smell deminished to an acceptable level, I have since given it a second dose which has resulted in no smell’s at all. The bottle also recomend this to be done three to four times a year, depending on types of journey (lot of stop and starts etc). So with a product that works (not forgetting my garage) it has save me a few quid and I shall be treating my car with Cataclean the recommended three times a year.
Did as it says. My Defender had more power. Ran quieter.
Will purchase agai
I may update this after another use of cataclean, which i will do in 2 months, not 3, as i cover a lot of miles..
so, does it work – I will go with a yes.
No idea if this works! But it arrived I out it in the car and the car still works so we can assume good things have happened.
Poor it in. Drive for 15 minutes minimum. Can not see inside the CAT so we can only assume it works and goes like a scolded cat. Good Luck, James
It won’t swap your car but it will work
Good product
Just wish I didn’t drive a micra
If they give me a free bottle I would report back.
ive seen a lot of negative ratings for this product
but not 1 has stated they put it in and run the car as normal for 7 days first witch you have to do to get the best results from this
i only put this in my fuel tank ( full tank ) on the day of it arriving i have seen a mark difference already with my car i have more power better acceleration and better up hill speeds now
i always get a warning light on with an EGR failing witch in turn messes up the O2 censer on the car i still get the EGR problem its not going to fully clean i gunk up EGR that rely needs changing but even after 1 days driving i no longer get the o2 censer failing all the time
would recommend to all with new and older cars
Cataclean,,,,,
It works 100%. Im one of those people who see things like this on TV and think what a load of bol****s,,
WRONG ! Its works, Ive used it for the last 6 years in my cars !!
I own a R reg 1997 VW Passat with 182,000 miles on it, I use cataclean every 3 -6 months in it.
Its a diesel, 1.9, I get 700 miles out of a full tank to empty !!
Cataclean !! You are the best !! I would advertise your product for free if you gave me the stickers !! Im that impressed with it !!
