This thing is so nice, good quality and so comfortable to labor on…however, almost to pushing stage I felt it wasn’t firm anymore and it began hurting my tailbone. Somehow it was leaking air and deflating while I was on it. I ended up having baby on hands and knees but think I would’ve had her on this cub thing had it not leaked. My poor husband was rushing to inflate but baby was already crowning.
As long as the people with you make sure it’s staying firm and air tight, this thing is awesome.
I didn’t get to use my own but did end up getting to use one in labor!!
I purchased one for my planned homebirth. My midwives and doula were so excited to see that I had one!
I ended up going to the hospital instead but while I was there I got to use theirs! It was great for laboring over. I was in transition when I was laboring leaning over it, and having the additional support while I was laying on the hospital bed was so unbelievably nice. 🙂
I used this while I was in labor during my homebirth, and it was amazing. Much better than a birthing ball because you don’t have to use core muscles to keep it stable when sitting or leaning on it. It allowed me to rest on it between contractions instead of balancing and trying to stay upright while on my knees leaning on it. Highly recommend!
This was my main tool to transition me till I was ready to push. I gave it to my doula to give this magic pain reliever exposure.
Every time I mentioned it, nobody knew what I was talking about. Every woman having natural birth needs one!!!
Very easy to blow up too!
Love love LOVE my CUB birthing chair!!!
Pump was kind of noisy while inflating.
One thing to note is that in order to place the cover on the CUB, it must be only half-inflated 🙂 Finishing the inflation process once the cover is on is a little tricky without a second set of hands.
At home I’ve used my chair to show women how to get comfortable for birth and how to use it in labour. It’s great to store away in a small space and use again when you have another baby or it’s just great to sit on even when your not pregnant.
I use the cub every day I’m at work because it’s so good. We started off with one in our labour ward and had to ask for more because they are so popular to use.
The cub is much better than a ball because it takes away the pressure you feel when the head is moving through the pelvis where as the ball doesnt. Also you can give birth on the cub chair and pass your baby straight up skin to skin if you would like it.
I use a cover on mine at home but in Labour you don’t need it. But the cover adds to the comfort in the house. Having your own at home means you know you will have one for your birth.
I can’t prasie this chair highly enough. It’s my go to favourite thing to use at work.
