I bought this capo around 3 years ago and only am getting around to reviewing it now.
This capo has been everywhere. Hooked onto guitars both electric, acoustic and ukuleles. It’s been on tour, regularly gigged, and recorded with.
The thing about most capos is that you hook them onto the guitar and you have to watch your tuning because it’ll make the tuning of the guitar quite sharp, but with this capo it doesn’t do that whatsoever and instead stays in tune. May have to do with the adjustable pressure you can apply to the fretboard compared to those clamp-style capos.
Regardless, I’m quite pleased. I originally bought this one because it was one of the cheaper ones I could find (capos are expensive) but I’ve got to say it was worth every penny.
I don’t often use a capo, but my old one was ancient so I got this D’Addario Capo. It works as it should on both my Electric and Acoustic guitars, is well-made, and is easy to set up. Good value for a capo that should last for years.
– Mise en place rapide.
– Dosage serrage, rapide du la
molette.
– Faible encombrement facilite le
placement main gauche (accord)
It’s perfect! So cute! It’s small and compact. Works well. I recomend!
Easy to use but not as quick, as sprung loaded units
Appears to be a smaller / lighter version of the D’Addario Pro Plus capo (~$40) Works as it should, although I wonder whether the small tightening thumbscrew will last compared to the Pro Plus version. Much better than spring-loaded capos. Not obtrusive to fretting hand.
Den hr fungerar utmrkt, ltt att stta fast och lossa och klmmer perfekt, kpte den som ersttning fr en liknande som jag tappat bort. Dessutom vger den knappt nt.
Better than clip-on or spring-loaded kapos. Easy to use and fully adjustable.
Esperaba menos pero me encant, es pequelo y facil de llevar porque no ocupa mucho espacio, aprieta mucho y funciona perfecto en guitarra de 12 cuerdas con el brazo ancho.
This is my second capo from D’Addario and is perfect.
Great!
Doesn’t fully clamp down on an Ibanez RG wizard neck, so just be mindful
I bought a spring loaded capo first. I am a novice to guitar so I just went with something… but I didn’t like it at all. I couldn’t adjust the tension, where as with this you completely control the pressure.
It’s for 6 strings max.
The product is easy to use but could do with being a bit sturdie
Really good product, light, strong enough to grip strings and small enough to play around. I have 5 of these 🙂
Good, solid and easy to use Capo. Can’t complain at all, very straight forward and does the job well. Can be used on 7 string guitars too
Wonderful addition to my guitar accessories. Rigid and very easy to use.
I have played guitar with various capos over the years and this is the lightest one I have found and is just what I needed.
Unlike other capos I have, this works well on twelve string guitars. While you have to tighten it with a screw, it’s pretty fast to do.
Lightweight but tough. Quick to put on, screw tight and take off. I doubt it will last forever but is great value and the first one I bought a few years ago is still in great condition. This is a spare.
No negatives, well perhaps one, it doesn’t drive me home after a gig.
I have a few different capo’s and for acoustic guitars they are just fine. However, finding a capo that works well on electric guitars has been a problem. Either too bulky, or they just totally mess the tuning up really quickly due to the pressure of the strings. This capo is just great on electric guitars. No tuning issues and you can vary the pressure applied to the neck and strings very easily. It’s not bulky and works great. A good option and does what it says” On the Tin”.
Great cappo that I use on a 12 string acoustic. does not get in the way. Fits perfectly and does exactly the job it’s suppose to really in pressed with it.
It does exactly what it says on the tin, and it looks good.
Perfect Capo, neat and unobtrusive. Great quality at a reasonable price.
Good little light weight capo. I have two now and they work well on all types of guita
Light as a feather.
Quick to adjust, and no string vibration at the fret.
A great fan of “G7th”, one handed operation on my classical guitar for a long time; these are as good.
Hope the screw threads last – only time will tell.
Great little capo, so small and light but ‘grips’ well and easy to use / move.
I like the compactness and lightness of the capo , also the micrometer style adjustment is just special , it really suits my two epiphone acoustic guitars
Looks tiny but works well on a six string acoustic. Haven’t used it enough to comment on its sturdiness
i’m over the moon with how well this item works with my acoustic guitar. i bought this as my other capo was having issues with covering all of the strings properly. this just works perfectly and looks cool too. if you need a capo i would highly recommend this one 5/5
Incredibly light, but feels robust enough. Very adjustable “grip” on neck, but I’ve still never met a capo that doesn’t affect tuning to some degree. Overall tremendous value. One caveat: it needs a little care placing on neck of 90’s Telecaster or the low E isn’t pushed down well enough not to buzz. Don’t know why as it fits my other guitars instantly.
I had 2 G7th Capos each I bought for over 30. One was a thumb screw version, and the other a spring clamp.
the metal under the screw wore very quickly and the screw slipped. this meant you could never tighten it enough and it ended in the bin. The spring loaded one never sits properly, slides up the fret and is a pain.
This D’Addario capo is brilliant. It was 13/ it’s neat, well made and sits perfectly. There is loads of play, so even if the screw wears, there is still plenty left to keep the cap tightly on the strings.
This is a good capo. Relatively low profile and easy to use. A single screw to tighten of loosen. Screw is located at about 45 degrees angle to the fretboard. Changing frets is a two hand operation. But, like every other capo I have used, I still find it interferes with the movement of the fretting hand. I play acoustic guitar and I find the bar of this capo extends (unnecessarily in my view) about a quarter inch beyond the fretboard on the first string side of the fretboard. I find that for me, it interferes with hand position when trying to fret a C or a D minor.
I am still looking for the perfect capo. Lowest profile possible with a locking mechanism that projects towards the neck of the fretboard rather than the side.
Best capo I have ever used.
Absolute total control of string/fret pressure.
Not big and bulky.
Guitar stays in tune.
Easy to install.
Well made piece of gea
This Capo is amazing, I had a clamp style capo before this, but it would not sufficiently “capo” all the strings with the same strength and there was constant buzzing sound. This capo solves for that, and looks very well built, will last a long long time!
I already use a Planet Waves aluminium capo on my Mainland tenor ukulele. They are very well-made and don’t get in the way of your fretting hand.
I needed a tension-adjustable capo for a crossover nylon 6-string with a radiused fingerboard. My Dunlop trigger capo clamped too tightly onto the strings. The clamp on the trigger capo was so strong that it was like opening a bear trap to put the capo on. No way that it could be done with one hand and even using two hands was awkward. I was looking for a simple, low-profile capo that would allow me to control tension. The NS Pro capo is exactly what I needed. The capo is easy to put on and you can fine tune the tension so the strings are clamped just right…no more than needed for nylon strings. You could use one hand to put the NS Pro capo on, but I hold the top of the capo to keep it in place while I tighten the knob. The profile of the capo is very low and doesn’t get in the way when playing down near the capo. This adjustment knob is below the plane of the fretboard and in no way impedes playing down low. I have several capos, mostly trigger types. Wish I had bought this first. I’ll use it on my steel strings, too.
Have used this on acoustic, telecaster, stratocaster and revstar necks, and it’s perfect. It’s very easy to put on and it’s compact so can be put close to the fret without getting in the way of my chubby fingers. Works a treat.
Seems to do the job but I’m not confident the screw will hold – the capo as a whole seems too thin and I feel like the screw to tighten the capo will go eventually but we will see
As a guitarist and teacher, I have gone through so many capos in the past. From the very expensive to the really cheap. I have always been a massive fan of Planet Waves and have appreciated their constant drive to find solutions for guitarists in all areas of playing. This is very evident here too, I am delighted to say. The capo fits comfortably, securely and evenly across all strings. It instills a confidence that you need when moving it in all positions on the guitar. By turning the screw/knob to a finger tight pressure it will apply just the required force onto the fret and strings with causing stress to the neck. The additional fact that it is very lightweight and robust came as a pleasant surprise to me. i was so impressed with the quality at the price, that I made it my first recommendation to all students, and bought myself spares for every guitar I own. Strongly recommend!!
I like these as you can get the tension spot o
I have two types of these capos. They work very well, do not get in the way and do not add any appreciable weight. I have one for 12 string (more expensive pro lite) and it works perfectly. This version is for a 3/4 size classical with a slight fingerboard radius (Fender ESC80) and is perfect for the job.
Provided you are not over zealous tightening the adjustment wheel it should not break. Just position the capo just behind the required fret and finger tighten until none of the strings buzz. If you over tighten you will push the tuning sharp and also risk breaking the adjustment screw.
This is the tiniest and tidiest capo I’ve found. It’s so neat and lightweight you wouldn’t know it’s there but every bit as effective as any capo I’ve used. I fixed a self adhesive foam pad to the back of my headstock which gives it enough width for the capo to attach to when not in use on the neck; I keep it fixed there all the time. I find it so much more inconspicuous and convenient to use than those unwieldy spring loaded grip lock things and the overpriced and overrated G7th capos; they’re nice and tactile to fidget with but like a lead weight on a guitar neck.
With a little practice I’m able to use this one handed but it’ll never be as quick to move as the grip lock style capo. However I doubt I’ll ever find this a significant limitation; I value the advantage of its compact size much more.
great capo at a sensible price…it’s thin profile is the deal-sealer for me….
My only gripe, I’ve had 2 so far and the screw has sheared off on both of them after about a year… OK, I use the capo a lot so it get’s plenty wear and tear and I will definitely buy another one… just be aware that this can be an issue..
Great capo. Very small profile and easy to fit it adjust – fits any fret on the guita
Excellent capo, thought the one I had was the best ever, but it’s now 2nd best! Easy to put on, tension control method allows you to adjust for the right amount of pressure needed, holds strings without bending, discrete, easy to move up and down the neck. Slight concern (reading some reviews) about cases where screw broke and capo was stuck on neck. However, overall, the reviews were overwhelmingly good. I spent a bit of time getting used to putting it on, placement, etc. Pleased to find that very little screw pressure is requred to get best results.
I have used virtually every type of capo on nylon strung guitars and this is by far the best…no muting whatsoever.
After buying loads of cheap, bad capos, finally purchased this and my awkward capo problem was solved. Let’s you adjust the tension of the capo to get the perfect fit. Not sure on the difference between this ‘light’ version and the standard, other than being cheaper. I use it on both acoustic and electric.
This is a really good capo and its radius is 10″ ,so I do not have to always use my Thalia capo on all my guitars.
The ones that have a 10″ radius are perfectly in tune.
Really great capo. It’s not unlike the g7 but is a great capo and brings out the treble more than any capo I have had.So I’m really pleased with this capo and will be purchasing it again. It compliments the D’Addario strings EJ16 which I have used with my Yamaha acoustic guitar since I got it years ago.
This is a very smart capo. I like the minimalist design. I don’t use it much but it works and is there when I need it.
Adjustable, light and sturdy. For the price an excellent capo for acoustic or electric guitar. Works on my ukulele and probably other string instruments too.
Fits perfectly and holds all strings just tight enough. Very happy with the product.
Best capo I’ve ever used (and I’ve used many). Easy to use and it’s cheap. Buy one.
Very useful, especially as they do not damage your fretboard and make indentations on the frets themselves. Keep them to hand though as friends tend to love them as well and they suddenly disappear !!
Perfect for my needs. Well made and very good value
my son loves this for his guitar….his instructor advised me to purchase it.
Fantastic product – well made, easy to use and not bulky. Not much to say otherwise
