Debatable Party Game, People Who Love to Argue – Mindmade Games

Quick Overview

The first round of the game a random player is selected to be the Moderator, and receives the Moderator Card.

In the following rounds the Moderator is always the player who lost the previous round.

The Moderator

The Moderator draws a Topic Card which contains 5 different topics to debate, and selects 1 of them.

The Moderator then selects two players who they want to see debate the selected topic, and gives one player the YES Card, and the other player the NO Card.

The player who receives the YES Card must argue for the selected topic, and the player with the NO Card must argue against, regardless of their own personal feelings.

Strategy

To make it interesting, both the selected players must first draw two Strategy Cards and read them without telling anyone else.

The Strategy Cards all contain different strategies that the debating players MUST use while trying to win the debate.

Who’s the Winner

Start the timer and watch the debaters in action!

When the time is up, all non-debating players, including the Moderator, votes on who they think won the argument, regardless of their own personal opinions about the actual topic.

Although the subjects are serious, throwing secret additional characteristics in the mix makes the game hilarious. Great after dinner party game.

Bought as a gift from Santa for the whole family. Really looking forward to Christmas day now. Nothing like a good debate over a roast.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood collection of questions. 4 stars as there are some cards that are marked as potential to be offensive – I think these types of questions should all be on the same cards so that if you want to remove them from the pack, you’re only removing the potentially offensive ones, otherwise I find that I’m removing loads of cards that could have been useful to have in the pack. I am a teacher and tutor and use these cards for persuasive writing/ speech.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI absolutely love this game! I’ve been looking for a game with a difference for a while and something with a bit more to it. This definitely ticks all the boxes and I had so much fun playing it for the first time! I’m a person who loves to argue/debate so this is definitely my top pick for games night!
Cannot recommend this game enough! If you are debating getting it then just do it! You won’t regret it!

This is a very fun game – I think the structure is a bit rigid and it could be longer (the time limit for arguments is a minute) so that it could be a more real debate, but the questions are fantastic and you can always choose to take longer for the arguments if you so please, of course.

Excellent topics and fun instructions on how to make it into a game.
Warning: not for people who don’t like to argue

A fun game, worked well with four people. I liked the challenge cards as it means that the game isn’t too personal when debating and I like that you don’t choose if you are arguing for or against as otherwise things get a bit heated!
