I am so impressed with this. I have it in a rather large open-plan kitchen living area and it does the job perfectly.

I have it attached to a smart plug so that I can switch it on remotely, say forty mins before getting home.

The heat is excellent. And it’s portability is great. I absolutely love this.

Both my lounge & living/dining area are very big & difficult to heat. The downstairs living/dining area is open plan with lots of windows & part glass doors, so is always very cold, even with the central heating on. I’ve found that this radiator does take the chill off the room, but because it’s open plan, it doesn’t heat it completely. However my lounge, which is closed off, after about 30 minutes it is starting to get really warm in there & after a couple of hours, it is really cosy. I chose large radiators like this, as I have large rooms.

The radiators were recommended to me by a friend (who has a large lounge) as they were recommended to her by her daughter. I would in turn recommend them to anyone & it is worth paying the extra for this larger more powerful radiator, as they heat up quicker & warm up a larger area. I haven’t received a bill yet, so not sure about how economical they are to use, but my friend says she’s found her bills are fine using the radiators.

The controls and timer are easy enough to use. It arrived with a dent in one of the panels but it with a ok.

As for portability, the wheels are fine. The problem is that there is only a handle on one side of the radiator so it is very hard to lift up off the floor to move it around.

Bought as an emergency heater when boiler broke down before Christmas. Good heat output for small-medium room, best value at low setting, virtually doubles useage at the medium & high settings. Also came with a 10 year guarantee, which can’t be bad. This is the 2nd delonghi oil radiator I have bought, and suits me for backup or additional heating if really cold outside.

This replaced an old Delonghi heater that had broken.
It heats up our large kitchen quickly and keeps heated up for a long time after being switched off.

I am so pleased with this purchase. The radiator works perfectly easy to set up and is silent and well-built.
During the freezing weather, we use it to warm up the upstairs floor and it does a perfect job making our living room, small bathroom and kitchen warm and pleasant instead of using the central heating. This is my first Delonghi appliance, and I am impressed with the quality of this product.

I have had one of these (an earlier, similar spec. model) for ten years. It is still going strong so I opted to buy the De’longhi again. They are much more expensive than many similar models offered on Amazon, but I think they are well worth the extra cost. The construction quality is very good, and they work very well and are reliable. They are used in situations where the property is often empty; so it is important to be able to trust its reliability.
The tech hasn’t changed much in that decade. I control mine via wifi smart energy monitoring plugs. Its time for Delonghi to offer options for digital wifi control, it would make these radiators more versatile.

I now have two of these and thinking about number three! I find these heaters really efficient in warming up a room quickly and giving maximum warmth. Heating costs are so high and I find adding one of these heaters to a room soon warms it up. I have three rooms that need warmth in the daytime so I use one in the kitchen when I get up and then move this to my living room when I light the open fire. It’s soon really cosy so turn it off and move it to sitting room for a good warm up! Cold in the bedroom so if I bought number 3 could stay upstairs while it is freezing ?! My central heating (gas) is very antiquated in an old cottage, so while gas costs so much my De’longhi Dragon 4s are my saviour.

This is compact, solid and yet streamlined (much more so than many cheaper models with ‘fins’), and heats up very quickly, throwing out a good amount of heat.
The thermostat works very well to regulate temperature, and the heater retains heat well.
    Very pleased and thoroughly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIts certainly well made – good heft/wheels, the wire is slightly shorter than you expect for a portable heater. Heats up the room steadily; consumption is slightly lower than our electric wall heaters; I guess you can move it where the heat is needed most (say couch / dining table). Simple timer function.

It’s neat, the timer works perfectly, just needed something to take chill off abedroom which is over the garage and our grandaughters when she stays over, we are all electric but only use our log burner to heat rest of house so this heater is very economical

Superb – not too big but a reasonable size and you really notice how it heats up an average room. I never got the odour some people have reported. It’s an additional heater for my little girl’s room, and runs for an hour in the morning and an hour at night on timer (which is very easy to operate, one of those ‘dial’ timers you pull out 15 minute slots throughout 24 hours). The room is north facing and easily the coldest in the house previously, has one double central heating radiator on the wall, but now it’s nicely warm whenever this unit is on. Haven’t noticed much in the way of extra cost on the smart meter either. It looks good too – recommended.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI bought this heater as an aid to reduce heating costs at these high energy prices and to test its efficiency versus gas heating. It’s a very well made product and it uses around 1.75 KW of energy/hour if put on maximum heat and medium thermostat setting. This will be around 50-60P/ hour at current capped price of electricity. We are intending to instal solar panels soon with storage batteries and hope that by next winter we will be close to self sufficiency in electricity and this will reduce our dependence on gas by then when prices will rocket to more than double to what they are now. I haven’t used this heater often as it costs us the same to heat our modest house for half an hour using gas. It will be important to consider new costs of energy from April and working out what will be more efficient for every house/flat to use for heating your abode. We may consider buying the larger heater next year to use for heating the other side of the house and infrequently use our gas central heating if our electricity production proves high enough.

When my aged father’s central heating decided to pack in on Christmas Eve, and couldn’t be immediately fixed, I had to do something. I’d already given him an older Delonghi Dragon heater that I’ve owned for years, and whilst it still works perfectly, it doesn’t provide enough heat in the middle of winter to heat a two bedroom bungalow – hence buying this.

You can but similar looking heaters for a fraction of the price of this, but I guarantee you’ll regret it. The unit heats up quickly and radiates very well. I know some reviewers have complained about a “ticking” noise as it heats up – do they not realise that metal expands as it gets hotter, or are they expecting this to magically ignore the laws of physics?

Yes, it’s not cheap, but it is well made, works well, and judging from my past experience should last for very many years to come.

I got this heater after wanting it for heating up my small front room. The heater is incredible!. It takes around 30 mins from cold overnight to get warm properly but after that, the thing pumps out some serious heat!. I’ve been very impressed by it so far and Its been a great buy. I haven’t used the timer or any of the other settings, just max heat and leave it on. After 1 hour, you will be boiling hot if the room is fairly small. So far I’ve had zero complaints with it and It’s been one of my better buys over the winter. I’m not sure what it uses in electric but I did see online that it’s around 42p hour on max but once you have heated up the room, turn it off and it still pumps out heat from around 20 mins after it’s been turned off. Awesome heater!.

Now that I’ve gotten two of these because my previous lasted 12+ years (they come with 10 year warranty), decided that it was ideal if I rely’d upon two. Spacing them out across my pad means I don’t have a hot zone & cold area that due to convection rotates heat. Now its even & the main bonus is the level of heat can be lowered because of quicker equilibrum.

I bought this some months back but didn’t get a chance to use it properly till now. (1 year of my 10 year warranty wasted). However, product works as described. Much faster at heating up than my previous oil radiator (which malfunctioned within a few months). There were some ‘clanging’ and metal popping noises briefly when heating up – but unit still seems fine.

I am not surprised the brand is so well known, I didn’t think I couldn’t get this level of quality from a little heater: it warms up my room very efficiently, quickly and evenly in very little time, it’s not noisy in the slightest and the timer is a great addition (I set it to turn on early in the morning and just before I get back from work at night). 5/5. Both are godsends at this time of year when we don’t need the heating on throughout the house but just need to take the nip out of the air whilst cosying up in the lounge in the evening. Excellent and efficient quality oil filled radiator. I kept this on timer switch and adjusted the little timer notches as the days shortened and then same again as they lengthened. This has been the first year that my drafty home has not felt cold due to my being more mindful of the timer control settings. Also, my electric bill hasn’t risen anywhere near as much as I thought it would. Usually I have high energy bills and am cold most of the time so am happy to recommend this radiator, and to use it on timer switch mode and set the thermostat on it too. I have not had to use it on fan mode to keep my home warm just on the thermostat and timer modes.

I have two other males which are both very good but this is the best. It arrived well packaged and there was no need to assemble any parts as the feet/castors just fold out. Once plugged in I set it on a high temperature and after an hour the not unpleasant smell from the paint system disappeared. The chimney effect works very well. It heated up my lodge in very quick time and once the temperature was reached the thermostat kept the living room very comfortable.
Well pleased with this and it appears to be quite economical too.

I bought this to heat an outdoor wooden cabin. I was pretty sure it was the correct output for the space and generally it is ok, but I found that when it was really cold it took quite a while to start heating the room and I sometimes needed a convector to supplement it. Overall it is a neat and tidy heater and does a good job when it’s not really cold outside. The thermostat work well and it shuts itself off when it reaches the temperature you’ve set. The settings on the dial are quite hard to see (as they’re engraved in quite small font on the dial). I haven’t used the timer yet so I can’t comment. I do think it could (should) come with a longer lead as that does restrict where you can place the heater within the room.

  39. JoesphBobb says:

Bought this to replace use of expensive electric heaters at home. This heater is very powerful and heats large rooms no issues. It takes a little to heat up but much more economical than electric heaters and mostly use it in the lowest 1.1 kw setting. The timer is fine a bit fiddly to use the dial would be the only negative but it does what it is supposed to. Agree with some reviews that the cord is quite short but just use an extension cord. It’s super quiet and the fact you can wheel it around from room to room if you wish is great. It did arrive with small dent but no impact on the heater and honestly couldn’t be bothered to change it. Would recommend this heater.

Hard to get excited about an oil filled radiator but the De Longhi Dragon 4 I bought a few days ago has revolutionised the relationship I have with my garden office. Much better ‘heat’ than a convector or fan heater as it seems not to dry the air. Wish I had bough one before. Energy consumption, according to the display that comes with my ‘smart’ meter, suggests it uses a lot less power than a convector heater and, once warm, it seems to tick over without gobbling electricity. The built in timer is great as I set it to kick in about 30 minutes before I start work and to set it turn it to turn it off in case I forget. The thermostat has numbers as opposed to a temperature scale but I just set the heat level I like and now it just clicks in and out without me really thinking about it. Mine is completely silent apart from a little click now and then as the thermostat trips in or out. Has three manual heat settings, high getting the unit really warm quickly. Used it to warm my workshop and I was down to shirtsleeves when it was still frosty outside. Portable and efficient sums it up. Would recommend to anyone.

NOTE: The timer decided not to work and my office was freezing as a result. I arranged a return with Amazon to get a replacement (EASY). As I was moving the heater to prepare to send it back, I noticed the small switch on the timer looked offset from where it should be for the timer function to work. How it moved I don’t know but fiddling with it made the ‘clock’ do its job. To check, wind the timer around manually and see if it turns the heater on or not. I think the latest models are ‘digital’. Perhaps the easier set-up will stop people like me sending working items back!

First I ordered this from Amazon marketplace at a discount, it was supposed to be in perfect condition but it had a dent. No problem.. Hermes collected it the following working day. I ordered it again from Amazon, the price was very competitive in comparison to all the other large suppliers, and this model is not available on many as it is the older one… after studying numerous reviews this was the one I wanted.
I love the idea of a digital timer but not if I have to reprogram it every time it’s unplugged.
This radiator has been on constantly now for a few weeks. It’s fantastic.. it keeps my long draughty hallway from becoming cold when the heating is off. I am leaving it on minimum/1 all the time. If it’s very cold I may turn it up to 2. It kicks in when the temperature drops. It continues producing considerable heat after switching off. If you turn each wheel in it looks much tidier – the wheels don’t show you just see four ‘feet’.
    I haven’t noticed any noise.
When first delivered it should be turned up to the max for a few hours and any initial aroma soon disappears never to return.
I know they probably don’t recommend it should be left on 24/7, but technically it isn’t on all the time, and my electrician says it’s the best way rather than turning it up high when I get home from work.

This is a great radiator, that works really well in my cabin, but it does take a while to get the temperature up if the cabin has not been used for a week or so. (It recently was as low as 5 degrees C inside the cabin.) However after a few hours the cabin was at 21 degrees C and very pleasant. The following day the cabin was only 11 degrees C, and it didn’t take long for it to heat up.
As these radiators should not be used with an extension lead, the key thing was getting it near to a socket that was actually the wrong side of the room. That power lead would be the only thing that I would change about the radiator.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI currently own three of these 2kW heaters, which are very stylish and provide excellent heat output, no doubt enhanced by the chimney effect of the panel design. Gone are the days of wobbly-wheeled radiators which used to bend under their own weight; the folding caster wheels on these seem quite sturdy and enable the radiator to be moved across carpeted areas without a problem, albeit slightly hindered by a single handhold.

For myself, the mechanical time-switch is a bonus, being simply operated by flicking in or out the quarter-hourly pegs. Its pattern of settings can be easily seen without the need for wading through menus and settings of those radiators having digital settings.

Some reviewers, appear to be affected by the smell when hot, which has not been a problem on any of my own, following an initial burn off; the recommendation for doing this is for an initial operation at full heat for 2 hours.

These radiators appear to be very quiet in operation, apart from an occasional, yet typical, unobtrusive on-off thermostat, or time-switch click.

A useful note for those chasing energy efficiency, is to operate these at the lowest of the three selectable heat output settings which is capable of heating your space to the desired level and to set the thermostat accordingly, in other words do not operate the radiator unnecessarily at the highest heat output, causing frequent on-off cycling.

I am of the opinion that the review of an item should provide enough information for prospective purchasers to make an informed decision, and as such it should encompass more than just how the item operates, but also the buying experience itself right through to delivery and customer services should there be a fault.

Unfortunately, as other reviewers have noted, both my recent radiators were also received with dented side panels, which in my opinion are the fault of either the manufacturer for not providing suitable packaging with side impact protection, or the mishandling in storage, or mishandling by delivery courier.

An additional let down in the buying experience was caused by the delivery chain itself; although sold by Amazon, the radiators were not delivered by their own courier, but by a third party, who managed to leave my radiators outside at an incorrect address, unbeknown to the owner at that location at the time. The third party courier then added insult to injury by claiming that they were handed directly to me and signed by me!
I must however complement Amazon Customer Services, for their swift response and offer of two replacement radiators or a refund. This was not taken up as we managed to track down the location of the missing radiators at a nearby property which was being renovated from the photo where the courier had left them!!

So summing up, excellent radiators, incompetent delivery chain.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI use this combined with an Amazon Alexa to heat up my outdoor garage before I go to workout. It heats the whole garage from 0 degree to an ambient temperature in under one hour. **Please note this set up won’t work with the more advanced digital version of this heater as you need to manually turn it on via a button. This one is analog so once you turn it off and then on again it remains on the previous setting.
