Unglaublich wie schnell diese Diamanten das Material abtragen ! Ohne jeglichen Druck auf die Klinge, ohne Wasser und ohne l. Tolles Zeug von DMT !

I’ve sharpened several chisels now all of which were dull and ineffective. They now are very sharp and even trim end grain. I also recommend a honing guide for good results.

So far the DMT duosharp seems to be working great. It’s much better than the Trend stone that I’d tried previously. I will likely order more DMT sharpening gear after I perform a couple more tasks on the duosharp.

I’ve been using DMT whetstones for decades – originally the 8″ interrupted-surface bench stones (the ones in natty wooden boxes) – now these similar-surfaced double-sided plates.
This particular one – Extra Coarse/Coarse – is just about perfect for flatting-off paring-chisel backs, or plane-irons; then making a nice regular bevel, before honing.
Quick-cutting & very long-lasting – so long as you lubricate (cheap window-cleaning spray), don’t push down hard, wash & dry after use, & above all don’t use it for flatting-off your Waterstones. That quickly dulls the ‘bite’ of the DMT plate.
I find these interrupted-surface plates more reliably flat & regularly-surfaced that DMT’s solid plates. Both are incomparably superior to any cheapo diamond stone.

Piedra diamamtada de la casa Dmt, Extra gruesa. Como se espera, come mucho material y rpido aunque me da la sensacin de que no durar mucho para el precio que vale, creo que el desgaste del material es algo rpido. Ya iremos viendo.

DMT works great. Have several combinations of grits. I think if you are going to Diamonds DMT is the only brand you should chose.

    Trs bonne pierre d’affutage.
Le grain diffrent sur chaque face est trs pratique : un ct pour dgrossir, le deuxime pour affiner.

This removes metal like it’s nobody’s business.
I can repair any edge extremely fast without much effort.
I also have a duosharp fine/extra fine. That combo is amazing and highly recommend them.

A friend showed me his DuoSharp stone. Bought my own right away. Sharpens fast, easy to store, doesn’t require flattening all the time like my water stones.

Works very well. I have had one at home for several years and ordered this one for my son. I like sharp knives in the kitchen, and this DMT diamond stone makes sharpening quick and easy.

Great diamond stone work fast. Can use as lapping plate for conventional stone.

I bought 2 of these, one extra-fine/fine, one medium/coarse. The grit’s a bit off compared to what one might expect; I’d call fine “medium”, and extra-fine “fine”.

Still, you can put a good edge on a blade fast. They are held by the base securely, and one of the stones came with a slightly sticky pad so you could use them without the stand.

I would, for normal household use, recommend the 6″ stone instead; these are huge. There’s no functional issue, a 6″ would be more than enough for pocket and kitchen knives and easier to store.

I’ve owned these in the past and you cannot beat the quality of the edge and the short time it takes to get you there. Always use fresh water as the cut lube and rinse the dust off the stone, and it will last for years

Seems to cut pretty fast. Its hard to keep in place without some sort of base. I have only used it half a dozen times so time will tell if it is worth the price.

I have used a variety of sharpening stones over the years.. This is not a stone but a type of diamond grit, bonded to a perforated metal backing.
This ‘stone’ sharpens FAST ! A few swipes on each side and your knife is SHARP ! Chisels and plane irons take little more work, but nothing like a water stone or an oil stone. Plane irons come away ” wicked sharp” as they say in New England.

If you own cutting tools, you should have one of these !

This is one of if not the best combinations to get. The course side can be used to easily grind down edges to erase nicks or chips in the blade, and the extra fine side can be used to hone the edge to razor sharpness fairly quickly.

Excellent for bringing back neglected edges. Prepares them for the finer grits.

I have tried many sharpening systems with little success. This is by far the easiest and cleanest way to sharpen a knife. I have used oil stones, a Tormek knock-off (too much trouble for a quick sharpening), electric as well as hand held countertop sharpeners.

I was able to move from extra-coarse (very bad knife) to the fine stone in just a few strokes and was working with a very sharp knife in minutes with minimal clean-up. Try that with oil stones or the Tormek system.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was using sandpaper to sharpen my tool blades and while that process worked well, it was a long, tedious job most of the time. After reading about sharpening with diamond stones and researching on the net I bought one of these in the double sided coarse/extra coarse. Considering the high price I was concerned about the performance. I was really pleasantly surprised as it reduced the sharpening time more that half. It worked so well that I spent the extra bucks and got the Extra-fine/fine stone. Of course, as you progress upward to finer grit the sharpening time on each stone is less as you are not trying to establish an bevel, only grind the one you made with the original honing. But this process is made significantly easier with the DMT DuoSharp stone. One caveat, get the bigger one. My coarse/extra coarse is 10 inches by 4 inches and I wish I’d gotten that size for the EF/F. It gives you a lot more sharpening area and that makes it easier to maneuver the blade as you sharpen.
It’s a great product. Highly recommended.

This is a great tool for getting a knife sharp. It works fast and easy, just a few strokes and you can have a razor edge on your knife, and there is no mess. You are getting great value for the cost with this item.

This is the best bench stone I have ever used. Puts an incredibly sharp edge on any blade really quickly. For kitchen and field knives the extra-fine side is over-kill – you will be better off selecting a DuoSharp course / fine stone. Extra-fine is a good choice for woodworking tools, but not necessary for anything else. You will actually get a better working edge for kitchen applications from a fine stone. Regardless of which stone you choose, be sure to order a DuoBase for it. You will be glad you did.

I’ve used ordinary oilstones for 40 years of my working life – it’s a pity I didn’t discover Diamond stones before.
For anybody starting off in carpentry or joinery I would recommend this for achieving the grinding angle and buy a finer stone for final honing.

I read an article in Fine Homebuilding (March 2011 No. 217) about sharpening and they recommended this sharpener as a part of a system with other finer grits. They also recommended a honing guide that is fancier then the one I bought. This bench stone is very aggressive and very efficient. However, you need to have a way to hold whatever you are sharpening at the correct angle or this bench stone will ruin you edge. I would recommend this stone to anyone using it as a part of a sharpening routine.

First unit received was slightly bowed making it useless for any sharpening. Amazon was great about replacement. Second unit works well. Have used it to flatten all my plane irons and chisels.

I like the product as far as its ability to sharpen cutting tools.
the one problem I had is shortly after receiving it it fell off my work bench
onto a concrete floor and the colored plastic button was lost. Now I have no indicator as to which
surface is on which side. I can’t tell by feel as they seem the same to me. I will have to find
someone with sensitive touch to help me identify the different abrasives.

I’ve been using this stone as one of many to sharpen my chisels and handplanes. I’ve found that they remove material quickly and they take longe r to clog probably because of the small holes they have. I’m pretty happy with this stone and would definitely buy again.
