Great Pet Flap
Our second one, we chose this for familiarity, it’s clean and tidy and the pets bowl through it with ease.
Sturdy
It’s a bigger than a cat flap and our cat uses it easily along with our dog. It has a additional cover to lock the door. It’s weather resistant and easily cleaned.
Good but could be bette
It does what it says however, only got 2/4 bolts so had to use my own and it would be better if you had a proper insert as you have 4 plastic inserts which you have to cut to size but that’s just me being picky.
Looks good, functions well, pain to install
Good sturdy dog door, puppy zooms though and seems to withstand the force on it. Lock is just a plastic plate that slides down internally, pointless really. Installation not so easy with one person, took me 2 hours on my own. Securing bolts are way too long, had to cut with angle grinder to make shorter.

Bought as a replacement but easy to remove old one and easy to fit the new one. Works really well.

Excellent delivery & product as described. Had it for a dog but then ended up with my dad’s cat . She gets through it easily but can’t get her to push the door, have to leave it propped open but that’s her not the product. Would recommend heartily.
Locking easy and secure
Not the easiest to install when you have arthritis in your hands. Also fiddly to tighten nut.
Wind can cause problem
Great flap ideal for both our cats a springer. Downside strong wind of 35mph will blow flap open, so when it rains as well floor gets wet.
Stands up remarkably well
Very sturdy. Previous one lasted 6 years and that was with many many ins and outs. Finally cracked due to plastic becoming brittle on the outside. Would recommend.
Does the job
Bought the medium for our long legged Springer Spaniel and it’s been almost life changing now that he can access the back garden whenever he wants, took a bit of time to get the fitment right, with lots of measuring and adjusting but does the job really well.

Works really well
This has been installed for about 4yrs now. Not had any problems. The removable internal door cover means that you can choose when to give access (we keep our dogs in overnight) and it is secure if you go away.

uts and bolts were not compatible, nut didn’t fit, no thread, had to buy one’s that did, not a happy customer.

Good to be able to block off
Easy to fit & being able to block off is useful if you are away for a few days or more . Only bad thing is the length of screws & I had to cut them down but this is a small inconvenience
Decent product will need tweaks
Liked fit. Had to buy longer screws for door. Top edge not watertight so purchased waterproof tape and used inner lining as outer flap. So much better. Great size would be good to have longer screws and spare inner liner to cater for all doors

This is the best thing that I have bought my puppy. A nine month old Yorkshire Terrier. It gives him independence and I don’t have to keep getting up every time he leaves the room to see if he wants to go out. Totally love it and would highly recommend.

I purchased the exact product before and this was a replacement, unfortunately my dog broke the 1st one charging like a bat out of hell through the flap. It’s a good sturdy dog flap and is very easy to install with a little help when fixing the front to the back.

Pleased with purchase, so are the dogs, it’s just the right size for two cocker spaniels, easy to install but could have done with another pair of hands to hold steady when aligning the screws

Strong and so convenient.
Should have had one of these years ago, would have saved standing by the back door 20 times a day ! I chose the medium size flap for my two Boston Terriers and set the bottom cut 50mm below the bottom of my bigger dog’s chest and it’s worked out perfectly for both dogs. It took around an hour and a half to fit but well worth the effort. I had a spare handle knocking about that I fitted to the door, just to make it a little easier for putting on and off. It took a couple of days for the dogs to get used to it but now they dont use the back door at all. All in all a strong and convenient flap, I’m well happy.

Really good sturdy dog flap. I had been looking at some for ages now, but went with is make. I’m very pleased I did. It does not let in any drafts at all which I was most worried about coming up winter. I really am pleased with it.

Dog flap fitted - yipee!
It’s a great, sturdy dog flap and fitted easily. And it really is silent (next door has a cap flap that we can hear banging all the time!) After having pugs for over 10 years, we are finally going to have a ‘warm’ winter – we will actually be able to shut the back door! Why we didn’t think of this before is beyond me!
The plastic locking panel is a super bonus. It feels very safe.

Makes life so much easie
Bought to replace same existing model which broke due to exuberant 8 month old working cocker spaniel puppy using. The day without it waiting fir new one to arrive made us realise how useful it is. It makes life so much easier & means animals can go in garden when home alone!
We have 2 cats & 2 dogs so it gets plenty of use. It’s a bit too stiff for cats at the moment but will soon loosen up.

Perfect for my staffy(short legged) and 3 cats to fit through. Nice and quiet, not too heavy for the cats and all used it within hours. Had to have glass changed to add a panel to my patio door for it to be fitted(glazier did all the work). Very happy with it and would recommend
How did I ever live without it?
This is used by two cats and a beagle.
It took very little practice for everyone to use it and now wonder how I did without it previously.
It seemed easy to fit (husband kindly took over this part) as I watched a bit of measuring take place!
It takes a little bit of force to open otherwise it would blow about in a breeze but none of my pets have had problems.
Easy to keep clean, sliding cover locks into place when access is denied and not at all draughty.
Bought this for my daughters working cocker and size is just about ok, larger would be too big.
As you can see there was fake beading on the original panel so it was easier to replace this with a plain panel, which I got at a local upvc window company for 38.
It’s easy to take the panel out you just prise out the clip in beading around the edges on the inside. It’s then much much easier to cut out/fit than doing it in situ vertically. It helps to be relatively handy to fit it.
Then buy lots of chicken pieces to train your dog 🙂

Good product, installation a nightmare
Unbelievably difficult to install. I have fitted several pet flaps and this was by far the most difficult. You have to be incredibaly handy to install this. Once fitted I was quite happy with it though.
Professional cat flap fitter.
Used to upgrade my existing dog flap. Reasonably easy to install for a professional. Rubber seal a bit fiddly to keep in place whilst trying to bolt everything together. If it could be made with telescopic liner it would make installation much easier.

Great, dogs love it. It’s plenty big enough for my two cocapoo’s who barrel through it many times a day. For the price, you cant get better, we have 3 cats who also find it just fine. There is a shutter you can use for the inside that blocks it off (winter / hurricane/ holiday) a very small child could fit through (my 5 year old daughter can make it through, just) anyone bigger cant.

For the price, I can’t fault this door. As someone with very limited DIY experience, I was able to fit it, with my partner’s help and the occasional swear word, saving around 100 (the amount it would have cost to have someone else do it).
Only thing that could have improved the installation experience would have been if the door included an installation template as opposed to sticking the dog door to the human door and marking the human door through screw holes and tracing the flap.
Besides that, definitely recommend – has made puppy toilet training SO much easier! Our dog now only wees inside when it rains as he gets confused and thinks all floor surfaces should be wet..
Does the job.
I had one of these in the old house. We moved and I bought a petsafe door for the new house – not up much and broke within 8 months. I decided to go with dogmate again as the old one had been in 5 years with no problems.

Doesn’t have a lock which is a pain but it’s cheap and you get a slide down bit of plastic.

Sturdy dog flap
Had this dog flap for approx 7 months now and it’s great, still works with no damage as for 2x little doggies running through it constantly day and night. Would highly recommend as this is a sturdy product. Was looking for an alternate as my previous dog flap split and the draft excluders fell off not long after. But with this one 7 months later they are all intact, very happy.

Sturdy pet door for boisterous dogs
The door is sturdier than those previously had and the brush seal stays closed even when windy. My dogs are in and out all the time with no problem but my older cat does struggle to push open! I had this professionally fitted to avoid mis fitting.

Large frame but obscured plastic flap which means nervous pets cannot see outside.
This was bought to install in a masonry wall, so it involved additional lining of the wall. The flap operates on the external side, with the plastic bezel on the inner wall. Construction of the plastic components was adequate, but due to the size the flap needs to be installed level to operate correctly in the lining. Make sure you install the (small) robber seal to the external flap bevel, its easy to miss.

I always buy this one
This is the best dog door I have found as others seem to disintegrate after about 12 months (due to dogs charging at the door to get in); it is also more wind-resistant than other dog doors (useful for those chilly Winter months). Every time I need to replace the dog door (usually due to eg moving house or new back door) this is the one I go for and it has never let me down. Only negative is that installers seem to have issues with the lining of the door (not essential to the working of the door but aesthetic) – it can be a bit fiddly

After studying reviews for various flaps I opted for this one in a size medium for my 25lb Tibetan Terrier. My partner fitted it and it took a couple of hours but apart from initially taping the frame to the door upside down – doh – it was quite straight forward. As pictured the screws are too long and need to be cut down to size but our TT was using the flap confidentally within 24 hours and loves her freedom. We ‘lock’ it at night so she cannot go out and bark and she can easily tell when it’s blocked.

Needs a hole template!
As others have said, a template would be helpful for cutting the hole. Took a person on either side of door for fitting. Ended up taping it to outside to get level markings on and drawing inside but once removed you have to cut 10ml in from the pencilled in outline of inside aperture. Surely the makers could include a template! Once fitted it is whisper quiet and the door is frosted with a clear view panel. Magnetic close and slide in white blank plastic panel which clips in and then you put pegs in for locking if needed.

Kind of fiddly to fit it, but got it sorted in the end. Shame that it’s not lockable, the only way to lock it is to put the cover over the door. Otherwise, pretty decent item.

That’s NOT to say it is poor quality, just that inevitably, anything plastic, submitted to temperature extremes over months/years will eventually break. ‘Sooner’ with two large pups crashing through it hundreds of times a day! Good that Petmate have not changed the size and design over the years making like-for-like replacement a comparative doddle.
