It’s great machine for the money, has great suction, and is very easy to clean.
As a tradesmen it gets well used picks every thing up really good suction. Easy to use and can get reusable bags for it.
I’ve owned one before many years ago. 1st class piece of kit, ideal for cleaninig gutters.
outstanding product use it for the car and general use indoors, well worth the price
Going by some of yes reviews I’m sure they haven’t brought the same item.
To start I’m 6ft2 OK I had to bend a bit but the handle is long enough for most.
If it falls over its your fult . DON’T PULL IT SO HARD. And put all 4 wheels on
MY 4.5 by 16 Mt’s of artificial grass has never looked so good.
I honestly wish I’d got this 2 years ago when I put the grass down.
his Is good product only I need very good which I head last Thx
To be honest not that’s my first wet vac from that brand but i though wet hoover should keep the water inside! The last 3 was leaking on suction pipe inlet! Not major but on carpet few drops is more than what you want!!
Cleans my carpets so well. I’m very pleased with it.
Wish I had brought it ages ago. Super light and powerful. Makes cleaning the cars really easy with lots of attachments. Even used the blow function to clean out the garage. Can’t fault i
Apart from the heading information, I like the clear instructions and accessories for using it for collecting dry or wet material, with an option to use with or without the bag (supplied) for dry use.
I’m really pleased with my purchase of this vacuum for the garden. I’ve only used it once but was impressed with the suction power given it is so lightweight. It is very user friendly and I also like the various tools which come with it as standard
. . . no but, seriously, the thing I noticed most when first using, was the inflexibility of the flexible hose. It’s actually fairly rigid and wants to straighten out when you want to get into small corners. Being used to the more modern cyclonic vacuums like e.g. Dysons, the lesser suction power is noticeable so, it’s a bit rough and ready and probably best confined to workshop use, which is what I bought mine for. Oh, and it’s nice and shiny!
Has done all the jobs it’s been asked to do very well. Good suction and light weight, very pleased with the product.
Would like to start by warning non-UK buyers that even tho this is 230v unit, it will come with an UK plug, makes no sense to me but hey, its there.
Apart from that, works as expected for the pricetag from the little use i gave it to it so far.
Didn’t purchase it on here but 3 years on and it’s not let me down. Good blower and good suction if well looked aftered.
Unlike most reviews I see on here if you don’t look after or maintain it then it won’t give you that performance back.
For the price it is it’s a good, cheap vaccum cleaner.
Would be 5 stars if the hose didn’t get slightly ripped one day (I currently have duct tape over the slight rip). This is annoying as it works so well! It is all so solid apart from what has happened to the hose. Still using it regularly though.
However, after a few hours of using it, the outlet filter became blocked up with some fine dust. Getting the filter out is an actual nightmare. There is a tab to release the cover for it, but the cover is very flimsy it ended up snapping. I ended up having to dismantle the entire vacuum to get it from the inside. An absolute nightmare.
A great cost effective hoover for a DIYer, Yes make sure the wheels clip in, push them hard until they click. It works really well with a good suction, the only thing I find a pain is no where to store hoover tools and cable appears to have nowhere it could be wrapped, but overall I am very happy with the product. I do find it you’re carefull you can re use the paper bag one extra go, you’ll need to use a clip to reseal it. (just don’t let the bag become full on it’s first use)’ Only 4 star due to storing of hoover tools issue.
Very very strong suction in this product it was incredibly useful for a renovation project I was doing.
The one downfall I have found of this is that not all of the wheels clip in tightly enough and so occasionally fall out and I have intact lost one of the wheels in transportation. I would recommend to people buying this to glue the wheels in place to ensure that they do not fall out.
Other than that I have found this vacuum cleaner to be exactly what I was looking for and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great suction, tough and sturdy vacuum cleaner.

Got it as a present for my brother in-law. He loves it and uses it all the time!
It’s so good. Our son in law bought his wife one!!!!!
This is just brilliant! Have lof of loft space to clean before insulation is being fitted, including monster spiders & their webs, and this hoover is making the job so much easier and faster. It’s light weight, has great suction and seems sturdy enough (without unnecessary bells & whistles of modern domestic hoovers) to last for a long time. Most of the additional suction heads have also turned out to be really useful, which I hadn’t really expected. All in all a great product for an unbeatable price (at least for what I could find) and would happila recommend.
As a big bonus, delivery was super fast: ordered in the afternoon, arrived the next day!
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase
If I could I would give this more that the 5TAR.
The item over succeeded my expectations I brought this to vac up water in the base of my hottub really good tool small enough compact not to big easy to carry around.
If I had to pull a remark about it & this is very minor it that the unit has holes in the base for casters but these are not in the box OWell no big loss. Will use this to a lot even concidering purchasing a 2nd for work. Go Buy Now highly recommended item for small jobs.
Thanks very pleased buye
very good vacuum, the black water filter that you have to put on when you want to suck up water is a bit fragile for inexperienced hands. It did tear off with me on the first use.
This is a very well built tool, smart, sturdy and very efficient. Everything looks and feels robust. I like the chrome plated collection bin.The only assembly needed is to fit the castors and top handle. One minor annoyance was that the castors – which are supposed to be a “firm push fit” were impossibly tight to fit by hand.
I bought it mainly for wet work, for which it’s absolutely superb. I have just used it to empty a header tank filled with filthy, slimy algae. It sucked the whole lot up effortlessly and with absolutely no leakage or splashing.
For dry vacuuming you have to fit a cloth filter over the motor housing, and also use disposable paper dust collection bags. I thought paper collecting bags had gone out with the Ark, but it seems they live on in these small drum vacuums. The jury is out on these – I can’t see myself replacing the bag every time I use it, especially in the workshop or garden when it can fill up in seconds! Maybe one side of the bag could be cut and replaced with velcro, so that it can be emptied and reused. I’ll give it five stars when they make it bagless!
Smaller than I expected, but works very well. I kept the old large pipe from my previous Wickes vacuum, and it fits perfectly. Good for hovering up the garden leaves. I use the supplied pipe for doing the car. Woks very well, no complaints especially at the price. My old Wicks unit has lasted more than 10 years but it is difficult to get new bags, so it has gone to the dump!

It worths every penny: it’s powerful, capable and works better than described. The size is really ok, and it’s more lightweight than you should think given the size. I’ve been going through an extensive refurbishing and remodelation upstairs at home and this little one saved my life from all the rubbish several times.
Two minor cons:
– Getting the wheels attached is hard, and they fall off quite easily. Needs to be improved.
– The bags are expensive: a set of 3 goes for about 15 quid.
EDIT: I’ve found a set of compatible and better bags for a better price, which brings the machine even better; I’m using now the PTX Universal filters 20-30L, which you can find in any B&Q ([…]). You’ll get 5 bags for 12 quid, they seem thinner (they are) but they work perfectly like the originals (I’ve noticed the vacuum sucks even better with this ones). The hole is a bit thinner, you’ll have to play a bit to get it in, but nothing really tough. Fantastic!

This has coped with everything I have thrown at it so far, plaster, brick, garage debris so much better for DIY/ Garage/ Shop than a domestic vacuum. I do use the bags to maximise dust suppression. Only niggle does not come with brush attachment but these can be had for a few quid and for info the attachments are 35 mm.
-Very Good suction when using it for dry cleaning, the small tools supplied are perfect for getting into “most” nooks and crannies. The vacuum has enough power to make the seats and carpets look “fresh”.
Using as a wet vacuum after the dry cleaning was tedious. You need to empty the cylinder and dust off the dry filter (because its so dusty). Then put on the wet filter. Then find that the suction is not enough to suck the water out of the wet seats. It will only suck some moisture out if the seat is soaking wet. And after the cleaning, you find that the seats are still very wet and the cylinder has got some sludge in it (thats all it sucked in).
Bare in mind i have not tested it on anything accept for cleaning a cars interior. I purchased it for that reason and i have mixed feelings about it. Also the power lead is a bit short (but it doesnt really matter since you will always use a extension for such jobs).
A small advice: The easiest way to clean the hose after use, is to put it in clean water and suck the water up through the hose.
I selected this product because of the brand & it’s a very sturdy machine, not too big but enough for my needs. Good suction & easily picked up wet dog hairs from my patio; beware of sucking up things that will clog the pipe though. Cable could be longer – had to use an extension lead to reach to the far end of the (not very big) patio!! (hence the reduction of a star in the rating).
First, the pros:
* It sucks. like really sucks. The DC500 is 500W and this is twice as sucky (in a nice way). I wanted something that could be left on (when clearing swarf from a mill, for instance), and even 1000W is kind of a lot for that sort of job, but you get your W’s worth with this.
* The hose has freely rotating ends. Blinding idea which makes a big difference, but see the cons.
And the cons:
* There is no simple and neat stowage of the cable. Sure, there is a nice velcro tie, but it’s too much of a drag to wrap the cable round your hand and then tie it off every time, and then have it dangling anyway. What it needs is just some hook things around the top/bottom joint so you can just wrap the cable around the whole thing is 5 secs.
* The hose is terrible, being stiff very stiff and not at all flexible. Saved from being binned only by the neat rotating ends that allow it to be usable. Much prefer the brilliant expanding hose the DC500 has.
* The tools fit on semi-circular cuts in the top casing. Or should – the fit is much too sloppy so what actually happens is that the tools fall off if you even breath on them, never mind catch them with the cable or hose. A nice interference fit would have worked wonders here.
* The top is held onto the bottom with two catches that rely on the plastic tab bending to attach (or detach). I am expecting the tabs to either break or not catch at some point. As a consequence of this design, and the lack of a gasket between top and bottom despite there being a channel for same, the fit is sloppy and the top rattles if you shake it. Well, the bottom rattles if you’re holding the top, but you get the drift.
* It is not ‘wet and dry’ but ‘wet OR dry’. There is a specific filter for dry, and a different one for wet use. The DC500 has a single filter for either, so you don’t really care whether stuff it wet, dry, damp, whatever, you just switch on and suck it up. You need to be a bit more circumspect with this one.
Overall, I am disappointed when comparing this to the DeWalt (there’s a surprise!), mostly because the problems I see could so easily be fixed. Nevertheless, it is great value for the money and, despite also having the DeWalt, I still use this one as well.
Love & hate it. Having only used this as a dry vacuum cleaner in the house, I find this to be powerful but the brush head is too small & need a longer extender tool if using as a vacuum. Filter gets clogged too quickly, which renders the vacuum cleaner useless unless the filter is cleaned often, and I am not talking about big floor areas being cleaned. This vac leaves carpet and floor clean but leaves me frustrated still. Overall, an effective cleaner if cleaning small areas eg car (lots of tools) or possibly as a wet vac (although I haven’t tried it yet). The blower is powerful, but don’t see a need to use it. Very noisy too.
I use this vac for valeting and it’s does the job pretty well, It has good suction and the miniature attachments are good for all the awkward little places you find in cars. It’s light to carry which is good but because the hose is a little stiff it does tend to knock the vac on it’s side but in its defence I’ve only used it a few times and it has been pretty cold so perhaps with more use and warmer weather the hose will be a bit more flexible. It sucks and blows and it does both very well.
until it is removed and cleaned.
The castors are quite hard to fit. It needs a gentle tap with a block of wood and a hammer to make them CLICK into place; I couldn’t do it with my bare hands.
The tools are thin plastic and bend and come apart (the tube is in 3 pieces that simply push together (and come apart with over vigorous use). I’ve learned to use the tools very gently (on building rubble!!??) and it works OK. But I think the size is the same as many other vacs so I may look for a cheap replacement metal tool set. A longer flexible hose would be nicer too, as the supplied one makes it difficult to even reach a window cill without lifting the vac. Fortunately the vac is light weight.
Overall I find this good value for money and it does the job. It was recommended by a friend who has had one for years.
If you want the most powerful vacuum or largest vacuum then this ISN’T it. But at the price (45) it’s great as a compact vacuum that will work wet or dry. I used to dry off rug’s after shampooing and it was fine for that, but probably wouldn’t want to use it over a larger area such as a whole floor carpet.
Only really two small negatives, one is that the clips on the side do seem a tad flimsy and it can take a couple of tries to reattach the top after emptying, the other is that the blower hole can start to chuck out water once it get’s about half full, not a problem once you know about it, but be aware ,otherwise you can be oblivious to the fact you’re soaking someone behind the machine at one end while hoovering up at the other!
i have bought two of these and they represent very good value for money. Excellent suction – but I have not used them to suck up liquids
The vacuum does what it says. The change over between wet and dry is slightly fiddly, but not too difficult. I only use it as a wet vac, It gets up most of the water and is very good on ceramic surfaces. It will get most of the water out of a carpet, but as you would expect the rest of the water still has to evaporate. It can be stood on the ground or supported by its shoulder strap. It is rather noisy, but this is not a problem if you don’t have to run it for very long.
This was bought to replace a cleaner bought over 20 years ago(Not Draper)
We have been very pleased with it. It is very efficient and was a good price and seems to be very well made
Not a bad vac although the plactic pipe and parts feel cheap but they serve there purpose . Make sure you get extra dust bags
as they can be tricky to get them .
very good suction as many have said the power lead & vacuum hose are a bit short. I purchased this to connect a orbital sander to for sand a ceiling dust free. The vacuum coped with the dust extraction, excellently. But where the vacuum suction hose being so short it meant having to place the machine on a cabinet to enable the sander to reach the ceiling which is a standard 8′ height very pleased with machine have used it many times to vacuum up small concrete debris wood shavings and general D I Y mess excellent for use in the garden and patio areas, sucks up most mess. also excellent for wooden floors and through the house. and in the garage not used the wet side yet but am sure this would be no problem. found it hard to get dust bags locally and when I did the price was a bit steep. Would suggest taking old dust bag to shop and getting some non Draper bags if possible I’m looking into a re- reusable dust bag which costs about 15-18.
Does a great job but the design and the quality of the tools leave some doubt as to their longevity.
does a good job, useful tool. I had a great time cleaning out the dusty, spidery garage. recommend this vacuum
he pipes are very bendy feel as if might snap
sucksion very good but will us in work shopnot house
Use this in my workshop as a dust extractor and in the garden to keep the deck tidy, it’s light, powerful and easy to use
Is what I expected. Not as powerful as the last one I had but adequate for my needs as a machine to use to clean up woodwork waste and small rubble. Only comes with one disposable bag but then I never used bags in my old model and that lasted 20 years!
This item arrived really quickly. It took some (easy) assembly before it was ready for use. I was really surprised when I used this product to find that the suction power was extremely good. The vacuum picked up tiny hairs and fluff from my cream carpets. The only thing is that the vacuum is very noisy- however this must be due to the suction power. I would defiantly recommend. Also I should note that it’s very light to carry around. I haven’t used the wet function yet, so can’t comment on this.
