The 3000 is perfect for just about everything you could use a rotary tool for. The only way I would recommend to upgrade to the 4000 is if you are doing routing on hardwood. I would highly recommend the multi-chuck for faster switching of bits and a cutting bit, but otherwise, this Dremel 3000 kit is perfect to get you starting.
It’s a dremel ! I would have given it 5 stars except the mains cable is a very stiff plastic especially when cold .A few pence more for a silicon sleeved cable would have made all the difference possibly better to buy the cordless model .
Brought to replace a cheaper model that packed up for use in my model room ,Light easy and comfortable to use.plenty of extras with the kit and plenty more on my Christmas list.
Bought this when it was on a lightning deal. Good value for money at the normal price but on offer, it was well worth it.
Having suffered 3 cheapo versions it was time to pay-up and look big. Bought when there was a deal going on and it has surpassed everything that I expected of it. Fabulous range of special this and thats for every job you need to do. I am really delighted and my only despair is that I wasted so much money on cheap alternatives before this.
It had everything I needed in it and a very handy tool to have
The Dremel is possibly the best tool on the market for many applications.
The accessories that come with it make a good adaptable addition to the toolbox.
All rounder brilliant bit of kits, helps out so much at home with DIY and at work being a mechanic
Loved the dremel but the locking collet thingy stopped working, so couldnt tighten any tools. Thought it was something I’d do, but it happened to the replacement.
eplacement for my very old worn out one ,has come in very handy over the years would be lost without it for many of those little jobs
You only buy cause you know what it does…..well
Excellent tool, i use it mainly to engrave glass ( and other , around the house type stuff ) would highly recommend this versatile tool !
Great unit. I’m a bit disappointed that there was a big manufacturing decfect in the casing of the Dremel itself. A laceration effect has occured when something dragged accross the surface while still hot. While still functional, I like to keep my tools in great shape and it’s disheartening when they arrive in bad from. I also had to keep my mouth shut to the Mrs – as I sang like a canary that it was worth the extra spend, over a non branded rotary tool.
Been meaning to purchase one of these for year’s now I have one have found it very useful for all kinds of small job’s, comes with an array of fittings that very useful.
Well built and easy to use and at a good price.
so I got the dremel to mod my pc case. I aint gonna lie it was a bit scary as I have never used power tools before but it worked great cutting the aluminium. super happy
Granted I do not use this daily, but maybe once or twice a month something comes up that a Dremel is perfect for. In the two years I have owned one, I have used it to cut and sand pvc pipe, 4mm solid steel rods, 20mm steel square pipe table legs (took a few discs though (SpeedClic metal cutting discs), some water on the work, a lot of sparks and a bit of patience), sanding and carving curved grooves and smoothing edges into american white oak, cutting and then smoothing the sharp metal (steel i think) to modify some undercabinet light houses, routing some dado cuts (with the router attachment), cutting rusty screws left from a floodlight sticking out of the brickwork of our house, polishing tarnished brass, buffing up and tidying edges on tough plastic (HDPE (high density polyethylene)) and many other small little jobs.
No signs of melting, and still going strong. I do recommend you research and then buy the correct disc/grinding/sanding bit for the task in hand. And buy official Dremel if you want to have decent results. There are lots of cheapy discs and sets, which can be fine for rough stuff that you don’t really care about. The supplied cutting discs are a bit rubbish, but they have some use for the short amount of time they last. But if doing any significant cutting, then get the SpeedClic discs (and mandrel) for the task in hand (wood, metal, pvc).
Always use two hands, not just for safety, but for control as it has some pull. Safety glasses and a mask. Unplug when changing bits, it is very easy to knock the speed controller when handing the Dremel as you try to fiddle with the bits and there is no safety “push this button first then press this button to start” type of feature, it just slides on and and then you have to manually slide it back to turn it off. It will do some serious damage if it turns on when your hands are anywhere near the spindle.
I have already got one of these machines so I bought it for someone else
I love this tool, don’t know how I have managed without one. Originally I just wanted one because I like a good gadget and thought it might come in handy one day, however since my first play with it, it has become my ‘go to’ tool so instead of struggling to file, grind or polish awkward little corners, I just fire up the Dremmel, soooo much easier.
Bought this for my partner who likes doing small practical projects in house and garden. The many different attachments available (with this kit and also available for separate purchase) seem to cover most tasks a hobbyist comes up with!
Described as ‘used’ not that it is evident! So excellent value for money.
My partner has uses this load for 6 variety of things so ideal gif
Used it to help restore a staircase and newel posts that had about a century’s worth of wear and tear. Did the job great. Bought it to get into the detail on the spindles etc but it Can actually handle bigger tasks. Ended up completely reshaping parts of the newel posts that a previous owner had cut down to box in. Pretty sure the previous owner of this house did stuff like that just to annoy future owners. Anyway it’s fine now and it looks amazing. Very handy tool. Very versatile. I’m currently carving a life size statue of Norman Coburn AKA Donald Fisher from a single mighty oak.
The Dremel is a good piece of kit, I used it for removing grouting from the wall in the shower, and for cutting wood.
I bought this tool as a Christmas present. I thought it would contain all that was needed to get a project started but a stand would have been useful and more tools. I’m sure it can all be added to. The quality seems good.
This is a good product. The only down side is the speed on low would climb without adjusting to the speed settings. But all around good produc
Much quieter and smaller than I expected! Though noise will of course differ depending on function, materials used etc, but using the sander attachment on wood its much quieter than the cheapo tacklife rotary tool I was using before.
I expected the size to be ergonomically difficult to control but it isn’t at all.
The main con I have is the stupid layout of the box it comes with, you have to precisely lay everything (including wire positioning) into its spot like a jigsaw puzzle for it to close securely, if you don’t do it exactly as it was when first opened with the instruction pamphlet layered into the right place and wires following the box’s plastic groove slot for them, the items just won’t fit. Seems really unnecessary to be such a cramped situation, can’t just quickly pop things away.
Great powerful tool that is handy for multiple little jobs.
After using a cheap ‘look-a-like’ dremel for year highlights the quality of this tool.
Needed this to help with sanding down a 1930’s door easy to get into those hard to reach places would definitely recommend
This is a great bit of kit! Defiantly worth getting the add on attachment, makes it a lot easier to handle. I used it to trim my stormtrooper armour. Very happy with the results
comes with UKs power cable, if you are in australia you need an adapter or to modify the power cord
Everyone needs a Dremel or equivalent – they’re a life saver in so many situation, from drilling, to sanding, polishing, grinding…
This kit supplies all you need. Apart from the tool itself, you get a handle wall mount, a flex shaft, a box of assorted bits, and a plastic carry case.
The flex shaft is a real boon here – it allows more controlled use of the tool, especially in tighter areas or while working on fine jobs. I’d recommend a hanging hook as an accessory while using it makes the flex shaft positioning and movement a little easier and more predictable..
The other available accessories for Dremel tools means that this could be just the start of your journey, with a little drill press and router among the attachments which make this so flexible!
Compared to the 4000, this is a little less powerful, but the overall rotation speed range is pretty much identical. The 3000 also lacks the master switch, with just one control which goes from off through various speeds up to top speed. But, for the difference in price, I don’t see that as being all that significant.
If you fancy one of these, don’t hesitate – just buy it!
This tool is the main piece to my cosplay armor building, so far this is my 3rd dremei, the prev one, it just died, yes lt gets lot of use in the course of crafting, sanding and bevelling, the extension cable is versatile in getting fragile pieces sanded, it doesn’t like low density foam as it can rip it, but high density it leaves a a perfect sand and smooth finish, no dislikes, thanx amazon, with out the prompt delivery, my armor builds will grind to a hal
Excellent bit of kit – every bit as good as it looks and very daptable.
Delivered promptly and all in good order. Thanks.
First time user and I’m surprised how powerful and sturdy this tool is! great product!
The daddy of tools.
I previously bought a cordless version but due to the poor battery I ended up not using it putting it in my attic.
This one is a proper one. Not worth buying a clone at this price.
Good product. Potty I had to return it. I’m still waiting for the refund. I was returned to you on the 7th August.
I bought this for when I cut bottles for making presents, it’s so good and really easy to use. The quality is superb.
Ok there are cheaper rotary tools out there, but I am more than happy with this product and the quality is superb. Mainly used by my teenage sons to do all manner of jobs from modelling to DIY. So many attachments and ways it can be used, it really is a handy addition to our power tools. I wanted to buy one for years and I am so glad I finally did.
Handy little tool, very neat. Multi speed but no ‘dead mans hand’ off switch which means you have to be careful. Came in a good case with a few tools but not very generous in that respec
It is a superb tool. Light weight, easy to use and exceptionally useful. I am restoring a car and this tool makes getting into all the small hard to reach areas a breeze. The flexible drive just adds to the versatility.
Would I recommend it? Most definitely.
Got this with 20 off on sale so real bargain. No need for a more powerful version as this has what you need and a bit more . All the tools to start of and you can add extra. Reliable make as well
I purchased the 3000 Dremel Rotary Multitool with the extra 25 accessories and flexi tool. Excellent piece of kit. The drill is much quieter and smoother than my previous rotary tools, and the quick lock system makes it easier and quicker to change tools/attachments when working on large projects. Does exactly what it says on the box. Very happy.
This is the best tool for all those awkward little jobs, it’s very powerful and easy to change tools for different types of work also it’s really good value and has a good carrying case.
.. During lockdown I have not been able to get a dentist appointment, but my mentally unstable mate decided that he was annoyed with all my toothache moaning. After we both consumed loads of rum it seem a good idea to use this to drill out my back molar. On reflection this might not of been the best of ideas.
First time I’ve used one of these and it was easy to use, made a rather complicated task very simple, I would definitely recommend this to everyone. It fitted perfectly in my hand and was a pleasure to use.
Better than the cheaper versions but still a bit pricey. Hand for the smaller jobs.
Got this for my other half and he thinks it is great.
Excellent powerful machine. Easy to operate and control. Good choice of accessories.
use this mainly for engraving had to go on you tube to find out how to fix up the extention engraver as the instrutions and not as helpfull But overall it’s a great item when you get use to it, and there are plenty of tools you can get to use with i
I like this very much and found it very versatile. My husband loved it too and purchased the bigger one!
Fantastic service and arrived exactly on time. Great piece of equipment and essential for everything I do .
Thank you for your service.
Birthday present for my cousin and she described it as “more than perfect”!! Very happy
Love the drill. My second one as the first one burned out after 27 years.
Please read to the end, my original review is somewhat different to the updated one.
Great piece of kit for a reasonable price. I have a similar tool from a different manufacturer which is okay, but lacks the fine speed control & level of torque of the Dremel. These units have previously priced themselves out of the market for me, as I didn’t use them often enough to justify the price. This one, however, cost around 30 & is worth every penny.
Nicely presented, only little niggle is the plastic box that holds the accessories, which is a bit rubbish. No complaints really though & the outer case is very nice.
If I could get a cordless version for a similar price I would be tempted, as I tend to twist the cord, but that’s down to me & not the equipment.
Recommended.
*Update*
I should have updated this 2 years ago, I didn’t realise I could!
After fairly minimal use & certainly less than the own-brand version that I own, it stopped working.
Pushing down on the speed control would sometimes get it going again, but it would cut out after a few seconds.
I’m an electrician, so took things into my own hands, stripping the tool down & cleaning up the contacts. It worked for another couple of months (not in constant use, of course) then failed again.
I haven’t bothered with it since, will probably open it up again & do another repair, but I now see the reason that a tool that cost 100 in the 1990’s can sell for a third of that 30 years later.
Avoid it! You may as well buy a copy unit from Aldi etc & at least if that fails you’ll tell yourself it was because it was own brand & you didn’t expect much of it!
Someone suggested buying a 20 year old used unit instead & I think they had a good point.
I bought this as a Xmas gift, and the recipient was absolutely delighted with it. As for the handling and versatility of the gift, I couldn’t tell you. But I bought and still have the original model when they first came out, and it really is still going strong, and is versatile in so many areas. So I hope this updated version still maintains its predecessors qualities.
Wanted one of these for ages, great bit of kit.
I absolutely love my Dremel. I use it for my hobby of jewellery making and it makes life so much easie
This product is excellent it was on offer so as I had wanted one I thought u would treat myself and I’m not disappointed
I needed to remove a nut from a stud on an exhaust manifold, and there was very little room available. The dremel made the task easy, slicing through the nu
Love the handiness of the tool and all the little accessories which I enjoyed figuring out which ones fitted to which and how. However, I did experience a problem with the chuck which had, in-transit, become buried within the outer casing. The instruction booklet was confusing and not helpful as the pictures and wording were not, (in my opinion), in a user-friendly manner. In desperation, I borrowed a friend’s Dremel to see how his worked. Having established the problem it took less than a minute to resolve the issue and be able to test the machine and I’m know looking forward to using it in earnest! I would REQUEST that Dremel revise their instruction booklet such as it is. My problem might have been an isolated case, BUT if there had been clearer pictures and instructions I could have saved myself much frustration and disappointment at not being able to use my new tool for several days and therefore unable to provide a valid response to Amazon!
Great product . Easy to use . I recommend this product.
Good value, great build quality .
Excellent piece of kit. And was much cheaper than in diy stores. Over the moon with it.
Great tool bought for my daughter. Can be a little bit heavy after using for a while but great extension tool with it so you don’t have to hold i
Best little tool and a welcome addition to my tool collection. It will help me start up a little side earne
This was a Xmas present my wife as earlier in the year she had great difficulty cutting through the back of a piece of furniture. She’s also is attracted to power tools. So I bought her this and she loves it.
In my mind Dremel is the only rotary tool worth buying. I have tried cheaper other makes but they were no where near as powerful.
Great product for a good price. Allows me to everything I need
Easy to hold the flexible drive – the Dremel itself is quite heavy. Bought this as a gift for a daughter taking up woodcarving and she hasn’t really had it long enough to comment. I have an older one of my own which, even after a number of years, I am very pleased with.
Christmas present for 12 year old Grandson. Last seen in his dad’s garage making spatulas for his mum with it.
Excellent small tool for those little jobs and modelmaking crafts
This little drill is a must if you are doing any work on a smaller scale, buy the extra items ie sanding disc and cutters, works very well. Great product.
I have only had this a few days but am really pleased with it. I am a Lampwork artist making glass beads for jewellery designers to use in there creations. As such I have to clean the hole of each bead from the bead release that lined the mandrel the bead was made on. The add on part of the dremel is the perfect weight and size for doing this. It is not much bigger than a chunky pen but does everything I need it to. I wish I had bought one of these years ago ! I would recommend it to any lampworker out there .
I cant believe it’s taken me this long to get one.
Great tool with good accessories which do the job.
The Dremel range, and especially the 3000 tool, are first rate; but the written instructions are exceptionally poor and cheapen the purchase, big time.
First, as might be expected, they bundle a huge wadge of worthless regulations, etc., in several languages together before you get onto the illustrated instructions which are almost a parody of themselves. Drawings by engineers for engineers and reference numbers scattered all over for various models, etc., which have no obvious home in the badly laid out accompanying text. (So bad are the instructions, I have almost accidentally burned my 3000 out on its first go.) You have to go online to get any understanding and even then it is not easy for first timers. Thirdly, there is no information how you can buy any of the hundreds of accessory tools you will need and fourthly, there is no warranty. A poor and unnecessary show which can and ought to be rapidly put right. Casto
What can you say other than Drexel the best there is!
I’ve used my Dremel to sharpen knives and garden tools
I am very happy with my Dremel 3000. It comes with a extension by which you can do the smaller and finer works. The bits are sufficient for basic work but for router and cutting you have to get additional which are available on Amazon.
One thing you must remember that this tool is not for big projects. It is more for art and craft type of projects than serious woodworking like smaller cabinets and tables.
If you are working on decorative projects like name plates and wish to do some wood carving or small cutting this is great machine. Please consider this before buying.
Hope it is useful to you.
It’s a Dremel need I say anything more! It does exactly what it says on the tin a multi task bit of kit which you can buy nemerous attachments for. Well pleased with my purchase.
One should be clear on the purpose of usage before buying this. This is lite in weight. Not ideal as typical wood cutter. But only for carvings.
Fantastic product.
Even if the box is broken, don’t complain because the remaining product is healthy.
Hope Amazon will publish this Non-profen remark. Hope it will help build a GREAT MARKET IMAGE too.
What a Produc
Got this for my son along with other attachments and it did the job in hand brilliantly.
Love this gadget, has saved the day on many occasions, also perfect for intricate work!
GREAT SELLER —o00o—//{‘`(_)’` }\—o00o— WILL RECOMMEND TO ALL
Great deal on black friday, what a fab little tool, power in minature.
Good piece of tool but it vibrate to high revolutions.
Best tool I’ve ever bought would definitely recommend this to my friends great service
Does what its suppose to do, excellent piece of equipment.
You’ll never know when you need it. I bought this on an Amazon deal as, let’s face it, they are a bit over-priced.
Sat in the cupboard for months until I suddenly realised I could use it to grind the corners off a work-top that’s been bugging me for ages. Did the job perfectly. Next I used it for a little engraving task. Again it came up trumps. Check out YouTube for how-to’s on this subject; I ended up printing the design onto labels that I stuck onto the metal surface, and then used the Dremel to go over before peeling the labels off afterwards. MUCH easier than freehand.
DO NOT THROW AWAY THE BOX. It has the guide to using all the attachments so keep it. Also take note that first time use, you’ll need to force the attachment into the head as it’s a bit stiff (and doesn’t look big enough – but it is).
Does everything I need, and although there is not much accessories with it, it has the basics. It was also a very good price considering what the prices are elsewhere, and the flexible drive extension is an added bonus. I have used it off and on over the past 6 months, as it is not something I have a habit of using, but it is dependable easy to hold and use, and always delivers what I need to do.
I’ve never had one of these before but I needed to get access to a really tricky space so needed a small yet powerful grinding device. This doesn’t disappoint and got me out of a tricky situation. I haven’t done anything else with it yet but am constantly on the lookout…
Been wanting one for so long. Arrived promptly in a solid case with a cradle to attach to workshop wall. The extension is a must if you’re doing extended, detailed work. Got so many little jobs lined up for this guy. Works well even on the lowest power setting and has got excellent build quality. If you’re considering other brands because they’re slightly cheaper, don’t bother. For this price this is a very well made little tool that will last a long time
Great bit of kit. I ordered lots of titanium tips for it so am able to engrave wood easily. Takes a bit of getting used to the weight of it, but it’s easy to use, easy to change the tips, and makes wood carving fun!
Useful tool to have around the house. Bought as a gift so not used myself but recipient very happy. Great price too
Well put together kit in a sturdy case. Good value for money.
excellent buy. very handy and useful tool with so many uses.
Excellent value for money. Hard to understand how I managed some jobs before I bought this.
Replacement for a well used, but now deceased Dremel.Along with a new set of diamond point bits,I can now continue with my modifications, and make most other items bought from here and elsewhere over the last 3 or 4 years almost usable. No more completely smooth, and slippery handled pliers or toenail clipppers flying out of my hand and across the room……yaaaaaay
So usually the Hardcase you get with these type power tools is that soft Chinese injection mounded rubbish, but when you pull this out of the box OH MY !!! This is a whole different level the quality shows why Dremel is the Rolls Royce of Errrrr Dremels 🙂 its smooth purpose built case feels more like a Pelli Case than a cheap hardcase inside it has accesory trays and considering this is designed to be mounted on wall you look at it and it’s a shame to take it out of this georgous box.
It comes with the excellent quick connector which if you haven’t used yet it’s a must basically it pushes down the cutting disk goes on only one way and with a twist it’s locked into place in seconds no need to mess around with screw drivers etc (Just word of caution when cutting don’t letting the top where it locks in get close to items your cutting as it messes up the mechanism).
The Blue holder to fix on wall looks good and sturdy perfect for mounting above a worktop or workstation to be stowed away neatly.
The Flex Shaft well this is soooooooo cool no more need for the big unit in your hand (But saying that this particular Dremel isn’t that big) this is very thing and fits perfectly in your hand like a large marker pen allowing greater control whilst using the Dremel.
Into the Dremel now I was expecting the 3000 to be a big clunky unit but wasn’t too worried as I knew it came with the flex shaft so when opening the hard case looking in to find a seriously cool compact Dremel perfect for holding to be honest you could actually use this with ease just as well as the flex shaft Amazing has the usual RPM slide so small it really is excellent.
So conclusion Amazon you have gone Mad literally Mad this kit is amazing
I’ve always wanted a Dremel but previously the price was way too high. I could not turn this down. The description makes it sound like you get a ton of tools but, in reality, you will find you need to buy more. I bought circular saws and wood drill bits. The blue holder in the picture is , I think, intended for mounting to a wall. I’ve used it a lot and remain impressed by it, and am very glad I bought one. It comes with a plastic case, as you can see, so when not in use I pack it away.
