Powerful unit with a variety of speed settings. Great for wood carving ect. The little thumb lock pin grip on the flexi shaft bit holder lets it down as it tends to ware and does not engage into the hole in the shaft. It stops locking the grip when you need to remove and fit new bits. Don’t know if this is a problem on all the range, and I make sure my thumb is well away from the lock when I’m carving. I’ve had my unit for nearly two years, and I’m on for my second flexi shaft. At the moment I can not find fault with the unit itself. If you’ve got the skill .It will do the job.

I’ve had a dodgy 30 equivalent device from Aldilidl that promised much but delivered little. This is 3 times the price and 50 times as good. So good in fact that as soon as you’ve put it away, you want to get it out and use it on something else. Recommended.

Bought for carving wood which the Dremel does really well but put the flexible cable on and it works even better, being smaller it is easier to hold for longer periods and gets into smaller places. I purchased the Dremel drill stand to hang the Dremel 4000 on which also works really well. The handy carry case is useful for taking out and about but to be honest I just leave my Dremel hanging on the stand and cover it with an old pillow case when not in use to keep the dust off. There are loads of accessories that can be used both from Dremel and other manufacturers. So I am sure it has a million and one other uses. Yes I would recommend the Dremel to anyone, you just don’t know when you’re going to need one and when you do need it you’ll be glad you bought one. A great present for the man in your life, birthday or christmas

Very good, the flexi attachment came into it’s own when cutting off a nut on a car exhaust manifold in a tight spot. The main unit would never have fitted. Cutting disc (1 of 2) was about half used. That same disc was used to cut some sheet metal, about 10cm before it expired. Used about half of the other to finish off the cut, about 10-15cm. Worth the extra money to get more variable speeds and the flexi attachment.

I bought this to replace my old dremel professional. The old tool, from new, had a speed feedback characteristic that overcompensated, so it was always snaping small drills. The new dremel behaves perfectly.

It comes in a cardboard box. Inside of the box it has a nice zipped case to store everything in. The zipped case has elastic sections to keep everything from moving around. The case contains a box with an assortment of common Dremel toold, the Dremel obviously, and instructions.

Some of the tools are quite expensive ones such as the speedclik mandrel and wheels. There are other tools for buffing and sanding, and the spanner for tightening the Dremel. It has all typical Dremel core tools, but unusual or special in the box so it’s basically a starter kit.

The tool itself is wired. It has a good rubber grip, and variable speed which gives good fine control over tasks.

The speed click tools are very powerful for the size of the device. It’s Also powerful as an ordinary drill too.

As cool as Dremels are I think you have to decide if you really need one. They are good on micro-tasks but you need to have a regular need for it to actually justify owning one.

I currently have 4 of these with flex drives hanging beside my carving bench . As a professional I can vouch for their 35,000 rpm performance. As a tip don’t run them longer than 10 min at a time without allowing them to cool for 5 min and if you hear the rpm fluttering then immediately change the brushes.

Dremel 4000 drill seems to be a good quality unit and is easy to use.
The workstation 220 & router I bought to complement this drill are absolute rubbish, poor quality and both broke within 3 uses and spare parts are impossible to find.
I only do light modelling and these are not fit for purpose, cheap & very nasty and now in the bin!!!

Got this tool as it was recommended to remove a very inaccessible plastic nut , which held the toilet seat on.

This tool is very easy to use, even though it came with no instructions.
You tube vids helped me figure it out.

The easy fit cutting disks are great ( it comes with 2 of these)…. but the plastic toilet nut broke one.
don’t even try the paper thin 250cutting disks for this job… they shatter.
i ended up just using an old soldering iron to melt the plastic nut off , and then prying it up from the top. … in case anyone has to change their toilet seat.

This Dremel 4000 Rotary Tool 175 W, Rotary Multi Tool Kit with 4 Attachment 65 Accessories is a great piece to add to your collection. I can well see me using this in the summer months for many projects.
Especially after i get some practice in with the many different heads.
The box it comes in has a guide to the uses of the different heads on the back of it.

Yes i would recommend this tool. It may not have done what i bought it for, but i can see me using it for many many more fun projects.

My old cheaper unit gave up the struggle so I treated myself to the “proper” one. What a revelation! So much more powerful and smooth. Anyone needing to do fine grinding/drilling/polishing work should splash-out and buy one. A shame that only one collet size is supplied as standard and you need to spend a little extra to get a much more useful adjustable chuck.

Whilst I’ve been pleased with my FERM cordless units I wanted something with some grunt, mains powered and that was versatile. I wasted my money on a non Dremel unit and figured I’d finally make the leap to a Dremel.

Yes, it is as good as people say, massive amounts of power that with the right bit will eat through what you are working with. Longevity I don’t know about, but I have registered it for the additional warranty. My only gripe is why the heck don’t they include a more flexible cable? It is very solid and not easy as in colder weather the cable is very rigid like.

Really versatile tool. Come in a great box with formed insert to keep things tidy. Great little set up with a number of attachments that are pretty useful for various applications. Comes with a fair variety of dremel bits. The large range of adjustable speed is really good helps with better control. My only pick up point is the instructions are pretty poor. I found you tube to be the most useful when trying out how to get best use out of the attachments. Great for DIY and as it stands fairly heavy application.

Felt great in the hand and accessories looked and felt quality. When starting it off I was shocked by the terrible noise and had worries it was a dead one. It took a number of starts and continuous use for the noise to go. Tried using a number of tools it runs straight but rough on slow speed. Changed to this from the run of the mill cheaper one. Don’t feel the price difference to be honest, better but not fantastic. Should have tried the ones between cheap and expensive.

You will need a flex shaft to use the flexible extension. Then you’ll need a universal chuck because it only takes one tool size. The drill body is probably a bit heavy to hold and the speed and on/off controls are not conveniently placed for repeated operation. You may be better with something lighter.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve had my trusty Dremel 300 for about 14 years, and I’ve been delighted with it, but unfortunately recently it had started to operate erratically, finally giving up completely. So, I decided to go for this model. The Dremel 4000 has a number of improvements- firstly, it’s more powerful, having a 175W motor as opposed to 125W for the 300. The speed range has also been increased- the 300 had a range of 10,000-33,000 RPM, while the 4000 goes from 5,000 to 35,000 RPM. In practice using the slower settings, I found that there was a lack of power, and the speed was a bit unstable. But increasing the speed a little solved this problem. There is now a separate power switch which intelocks with the spindle lock button, preventing you from pressing it while it’s running. I havn’t found the EZ-twist nose cap wrench to be very useful, as it doesn’t work well with the multi-chuck, which I much prefer to using collets. The speed adjustment dial works fine, and isn’t too different from the previous model. In use, the 400 is a bit bigger & heavier than the 300, but it’s still easy to use for fine work. The drill came in a blue soft case with a zip-up accessory pocket. It came with a number of accessories for grinding, sanding, & polishing, and a flexi-shaft. I havn’t tried this attachment yet, but I’m sure it’s going to prove very useful in the future.

Since writing my original review, I have now repaired my Dremel 300, which turned out to have a faulty speed switch & field coil. The spares are not too expensive if you shop around, and quite a few sellers stock them. The drills are easy to fix, as everything slots together, and you can easily test for open circuit faults with a multi meter.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFor years I have used a B&D Wizard, bought as it was much cheaper then the Dremel, and it had served me well but had given up the ghost. As it is no longer available and I tend to avoid brands I have never heard of before, I went for the Dremel — and what a revelation.
The Wizard was good, and was admittedly now old, but this is in a different league. I also bought the circle cutter and was then bought the router attachment as a birthday present. Christmas brought a the gift of a pillar drill attachment.
The unit itself uses collets to hold attachments such as grindstones, cutting or sanding discs, burrs, drills, buffing, wire and polishing wheels and there is a variable speed from 5000 to 35000 which covers pretty well every situation from cutting bolts to drilling glass.
The Dremel 4000 must be a Godsend for model makers but for the rest of us it does have limitations. You might plug it in but it is not really a power tool in the sense we tend to understand the term. It can’t compete with full size drills, routers, grindstones and so on when it comes to big jobs, but then you would struggle to do a bit of fine sanding on a piece of scroll work with a DeWalt SDS drill.
It is a question of horses for courses and the Dremel is not designed for big jobs needing power and brute strength but it is remarkable just how many jobs for which it is the ideal tool and just how often you will find yourself using it, so much so that it becomes an essential bit of kit
It is light, easy to hold and can be used at any angle plus there is a huge range of accessories for everything from cutting tiles to engraving.
On the attachments I have it does a fine job as a small router and can cut circles or straight lines with ease on relatively thin wood so, if that is something you need, or something you want to do those are worthwhile attachments.
The drill stand, sold as the workstation, also doubles as a holder. The mounting for the drill can be turned 90 deg to hold the Dremel horizontally as a small grindstone or as a rotary detail sander. It also acts as a hanger for the main body when using the flex shaft.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersRight seeing as it was 109 I was expecting the dogs, and to all intents and purposes IT IS, but FORGET the instructions they are worse than uselesss, I could not even work out how attach a routing tool. After going through it with a microscope (the instructions ) I gave up on them and went to you tube on the net. If you put the name of it in and how do I use my Dremmel, there is a 14 minute video by some guy up north, who is meticullous in his explanation and after 10 minutes I had not only attached a tool bit, the are no spanners, its built in to the collar bit, but they dont mention the lock bit.He runs you through all the attatchments speeds, and how some pieces are not what you thought they were. So you may as well chuck the instruction manual and watch a video and it will be explained in graphic detail and you will be able to start using it. Other than that its great.

I bought an Amazon warehouse reduced price saving me about 30. It should have cost about 180. I thought I would get the bigger kit as I liked the look of the Dremel toolbox it came in. The tool box is rubbish. Very cheaply made and the draw that keeps the spare parts in keeps opening when i walk around with the box. Have had to add some velcro to keep it shut.

  54. Michelle Naranjo says:

I previously owned a cheap knock off that lasted a couple of use and made a strange smell right out of the box. Really useless. This genuine Dremel is in a league of its own.
Very well balanced and just the right weight for fine work. Nice and stable. Outstanding build quality as you would expect. Useful carry case to keep everything organised with some good starter tool bits.
I’ve used the tool regularly for various polishing, grinding and cutting jobs. It has the power to do quite tough jobs. like cut and grind metal, with ease. Just be prepared to work up to (but not above) the maximum rpm for the tool bit as there is a marked increase in power available as you ramp up the rpm.

No regrets for opting for the no-nonsense always available mains version – ideal for my needs in the home and garage.

This model seems to be brushless as well as the access screws for replacing the brushes are blanks with no slots. (Going to double check this with Dremel.)

Its a Dremmel, has a good amount of attachments (depending what version you buy)

However… When using the grinding stone – don’t push against – it kills them… that’s why I bought this one, I killed my last one. I was trying to put a hole in a tool, so using the grinding stone, I was pushing against the tool, it was working its way through – but then just died… it had melted the internals .

I have been using a Dremel 800 cordless for several years. The 800 continues to give great service for most jobs, but struggles a bit with heavy jobs such as routing for which I decided to buy the 4000. Reading other reviews, it looks like to price has doubled in a year or so.
The 4000 has plenty of power for routing. So far it has performed very reliably and the tools that came with it that I did not already own have proved very useful.
I have given “only” 4 stars because it feels like the price is now relatively high. I also want to know if it has any problems that I have not yet experienced. If it works as reliably as my old Dremel 800 I will update it to 5 stars.

I never used other rotary tools – in fact, I’m new to this whole rotary tool thing, so take my review with a grain of salt and with understanding that I have nothing to compare it and don’t have decades of experience with tools.

This is overall a great set. Not perfect, but great.

    Good:
    – a storage box. Yes, this is important, because all of those drill bits and other stuff takes up space, so having a place to store everything at the outset is awesome
    – documentation. If you’re new to everything rotary tools, it has a quick reference for RPM and types of materials you would use attachments for.
    – lots of attachments. This doesn’t have every attachment out there, but it gets pretty close to that. If you want a set you can do pretty much anything with (bar some very specialized jobs), this is the one to get. The snake-like thingie is particularly useful for very fine jobs.
    – good variety. It doesn’t have everything, but it has a lot to try out and decide what you want more of.

    Bad:
    – the box is cheaply made (it is not metal). The middle joint already prevents the box from closing, so I have to push it in every time. Retractable shelf is a nice touch but again, feels very flimsy.
    – lots of wasted space. Honestly, all this foam is using up space which could’ve been put to better use
    – light on accessories. It has a lot of attachments, but doesn’t have nearly enough raw materials (grinding stones etc) in it to last a while. Get a cheap twenty quid box of Dremel-compatible accessories with your order.

Overall, great value for money. It’s a shame that the box isn’t as good as it could’ve been.

The very first thing I did with my Dremel was……. ‘fix’ my Dremel.

Or to be more accurate one of the attachments, the line and circle cutter. Everyone knows that you cannot mark/cut an accurate circle if you are pivoting around a slanted pivot pin, no matter how small a deviance, you will end up with ellipse… Oh Dremel… You make good tools, but your quality control is all over the place.

I did what everyone (I would imagine) does when getting something new, I examined it, everything was fine except for the line and circle cutter. As you may have already gathered the pivot pin was slanted, which I only noticed because I intend to cut the smallest circles it can do ~19mm Dia. So when I brought the pivot pin as forward as it would go towards the tool cutting bit, it got caught on a screw that holds the tool clamp, because the screw itself had been screwed in at a slant and was raised above it’s hole which in turn made the platform the pivot pin was welded to slant, and therefore the pivot pit itself wasn’t vertically perpendicular to the horizontal. So I got out the flat grinding bit and proceeded to true up the screw head.. All’s good, yeah?…. No.

The pivot pin was still at a slant, Ahhhh, I notice there was a slight bump on the platform that the pivot pin was on because it poked through to the other side, ever so slightly, because of it’s weld.. so again, I ground that out. “Finally”, I thought, and examined it again.. now it was slightly slanted in the opposite direction. Obviously Dremel had tried to compensate for the inaccuracy introduced by bad welding, by making the screw head protrude slightly (or that’s what I tell myself).. So in the end I had to introduce a thin shim to under the pivot pin platform to compensate for it’s overall slant, something I could have done to begin with, without the grinding… Oh Dremel.

To be honest, I love this little machine, it’s handy, versatile and will do the jobs you need it to do.. it’s a 5 star product. However I do not expect to futz with it out of the box in order for it to be able to do it’s advertised functions accurately.. so you lose a star for that… Oh, Dremel.

This is a brilliant DIY kit, particularly with all the tools and attachments provided in this set.
It is very robust, well-made and a high-quality handset.
May not need it ‘every day’, but it has a ‘bit’ for just about every task you would expect (and even some you wouldn’t).

Had a small issue with this after some time, but this was very efficiently resolved (via Amazon), and back up and running in less than 24 hrs.

    All good so far!
I expect many years of high performance from this tool.
I chose this one over the 4300 because I just felt it might be the better choice. Can’t remember exactly what the reasoning was now, but it was complex!

It was a flash sale, almost 50% down.

Arrived at Xmas holidays, sturdy, powerful enough to cut, grind and polish. Tested it thoroughly at about an hour and worked super fine., even with the extension cable.

    I would definitely recommend it.

Brilliant little drill set. I have already stripped several vintage oil lamps with this and works a treat. Very low vibration levels even at high speed. Super sturdy and comes with a nice carry bag which is big enough to include all your other bits and bobs. If it doesn’t break within the next few months of heavy usage, then this is a very good product. I would recommend.

Been thinking and mulling over for years. Never quite need it often – weekly basis- but when it’s required, it’s a lifesaver. 4000 is probably the best in corded Dremel. Had it for almost two months, did some work on it, nothing to complain about. It’s working well. Love it.

Its battery operated and works great.
Holds the charge in storage and last a good while.
Plenty of starter tools come with it.

For this amount of money you would expect perfect product but unfortunately when you set lower speeds the regulator doesn’t work as expected. The speed is not steady and you can feel strange vibrations.

I still would recommend this rotary tool because of the high power and overall quality.

Thank you for taking time and reading my reviews

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this as a replacement for my old Dremel 3000, this is the usual Dremmel high quality and well presented.

My only criticism and it is more of Amazon than Dremel is that I ordered a discounted version from Amazon Warehouse advertised as some damaging to packaging but otherwise perfect. No where on the advert did it say the warehouse version is fitted with a European 2 pin plug and not a UK 3 pin plug.

It’s not a big enough issue for me to want to return it but I would have probably paid for a full price model if I’d have known at the time.

Why didn’t I get one in the first place? After all, they are not that overpriced. It is better and does feel like it is doing the job rather than trying.

Still, I’ve got a load of ‘dremel type’ attachments now to go with it..

Absolutely fantastic piece of kit, I waited for prime day deals and got this at a brilliant price, I won’t say how much because I don’t want peeps to lol

Is it worth buying at the full price, most definitely, the tool box on its own is very nice and it’s very well built and with all the accessories, bits & bobs etc. Bargain!

Definitely worth getting one for all the jobs around the house or buy it for your workshop etc.
The 4000 has great control when using it and there just so much you can do using this little baby!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOnly really wanted the Rotary tool but when I saw this package I couldn’t resist. The tool box is as good as tool boxes get. Had noticed a number of reviews complaining they couldn’t fit anything in the drawers other than the supplied tools. I just took the foam out and I fitted in all of my model making stuff with ease. I live in a flat so have no workshop but now I have everything in one place so making stuff is very much easier. The rotary tool itself is spot on and the accessories are useful. Plenty of different bits too along with a good selection of expendables. Price wise it was luxury end and a bit steep but as a package it was just what I needed so I can live with that.

Literally had no reason to buy this, always want d one and pretended to the wife she was going to benefit as I was going to do all sorts of D.I.Y jobs for her….sadly so far all I’ve achieved is to cut a deep hole in her new table by total accident. Oh and I tried to use it for a really quick way to get grout out from between the bathroom tiles….on reflection though I should also have brought eye protection and a breathing mask.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’d been after a Dremmel multi-tool for ages, and this package popped up on a deal and my first impressions are positive and I’ve already used it for a mini project which has saved me quite a bit of time.

    PROS

    – Excellent case external finish (see below)
    – Excellent selection of accessories (128 in total)
    – Good control offered by the 4000, not sacrificing power

    CONS

    – Instructions could be clearer
    – Case leaves no room for adding new purchases, pre-cut ‘pick and pluck’ foam would encourage owners to add to their collection of accessories
    – No mention that top lid need to be open before you open the drawer (it has a security locking feature)
    – Adding accessories can be expensive

So overall very happy, but I will revert back and update this review when I’ve had an opportunity to play around with the Dremmel 4000 a bit more.
