This a Which Best Buy, it is relatively expensive but has worked really well. It has a begel button so one side of the bagel or tea cake is toasted. Easy to adjust and you can lift the toast etc whilst it’s cooking to see how it’s getting on. Really pleased

Evenly done toast and plenty of width to fit crumpets and such, the high rise also making it easy to remove those. Push button to stop, can raise handle at any time to check or remove. I’d buy it again. Not cheap but good to use if you have the money.

This was a replacement for a similar model which failed after 12 years of daily use. Settings generally reliable. Occasionally one side is less toasted than the other but that could be due to the bread. A subseqent load tends to brown more than the first.

It does what it says on the box – makes great toast. The bagel setting is very useful as is being able to raise the toast to check how well done it is without turning the heaters off.

This toaster produces even coloured results every time I use it. When toasting smaller items such as tea cakes, you can lift the them with the slider control so that you do not burn your fingers. Toasts very quickly even when the bread is frozen. I’m really pleased with this toaster.

I love it, looks really stylish toasts well and fits a slice standard slice of bread longways, so no need to turn it halfway! Also got the additional toastie cages, toasties are now so quick and easy to make. Love that I can check how toasting is going without stopping the toaster which is a plus.

This is the best toaster that I have ever had use of.
    Good points
1 – the bread area is evenly toasted,
2 – the dial that controls the length of toasting is well graduated. Too often with other toasters a slight touch of the setting can result in the result going from burnt toast to hardly toasted bread.
3- I like the feature where you can examine the bread during the toasting process.
    Bad points
There aren’t any really a part from the fact that the toaster only does two pieces of bread at a time.
    Other points
I haven’t tried the defrost feature, one sided toasting or the bagel feature.

Very expensive but worth it. We’ve had cheap toasters before but this thing looks like it will outlast 20 cheap toasters and there’s a 5 year guarantee.
Only disappointment was that I’d read that you would find the name of the person who made it on the item and we couldn’t find that anywhere, so we gave the toaster our own made up name.

We’ve used this just for bread, two slices not just one, not for bagels etc. It toasts bread from frozen without using the defrosting function. It has taken all the slices from our large shop bought loaves and from loaves made in our breadmaker machine. It is only slightly bigger than our previous toaster which didn’t take full slices from many loaves. I’ve not been a fan of toasters because of uneven colour and not toasting the bread brown enough, this one does them to a well done dark brown evenly on all sides at the setting one below the maximum. I did think the price was a bit high but I’m very happy with the toast. The lever to lift the toast and check progress without stopping the heat is very useful. It does specify to unplug the toaster when not in use to avoid any fire risk. It is easy to forget to do this and difficult to understand why they can’t make toasters that aren’t prone to catching fire.

Great roster so far. There’s no settng up – just plug in and go. Produced really nice twist and automatically compensates for changes in bread and ambient temperature so you get fairly consistent browning without having to adjust the setting.

The real test though will be in 6 to 12 months time when most low end toasters are already failing. We’ll see how this one goes.

Perfect golden-brown toast, and the toaster looks fab. I found it odd that the instructions specified not to store it underneath a cupboard, which I have always done in the past. On checking the Dualit website, it seems there is nothing unusual about the toaster, it’s simply that these manufacturers are very safety conscious: “Of course we realise that toasters will be stored under cupboards in a large number of homes. However we do ask that the toaster is pulled forward away from the cupboard when used.” Am grateful for the safety tip and making sure to follow the guidance.

This is our second one, after the first died with an electrical fault, but that was very well used and it was given to someone who thought that they can repair it.

This one seems to be better than the first one, it does the toast brilliantly, not had a single burnt slice, bagel or teacake yet.

Expensive yes, but it looks good and works well.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m really happy with this toaster. After using it for two months I’d say it’s worth its price. The slices are toasted evenly as shown on the photo. The slots are wide enough for thick slices of bread and the setting dial allows you to easily set how you want them to be toasted. The peek function is very useful, you can have a quick look at how the toast looks while it’s cooking. Lastly, the bagel function is useful for roasting the pieces only on one side. Easy to clean as well, with the standard removable tray.

    Great toaste

Loving this toaster. It’s not too big for my compact kitchen yet looks nice. Seems v sturdy in comparison to previous toaster. Very simple to use.

Like that you can pop up toast to check without interfering with the program you’ve set it to.

Also like that it’s wide so you can make toasted sandwiches using one of the toastie bags.

Thought it was a little pricey until the first few times used and had to recognise perfect toast was no longer hit and miss. Recommend this item highly and forget the price as it rock solid value for money.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe design has a touch of elegance which means the toaster makes a statement, as far as a toaster can, with a retro-1950’s look. It is an attractive, rounded design with fairly simple controls. There is a button for bagels, which, with cut sides to the centre, will toast the cut side and warm the crust, a feature also useful for muffins, especially thick northern affairs, and there is also a defrost button, As well as slices of bread you can also defrost bagels and muffins by pressing both buttons simultaneously.
Completing the set is a browning dial (1-8) with a cancel button in the centre. Around 4 or 5 seems about right for me, depending upon thickness, but it is worth remembering toasting is faster if you are doing a second or more rounds in succession as the elements start hot for subsequent slices, so browning needs to be turned down a little.
I suspect 8 would be at the charcoal end of toast but don’t knock it, I had a colleague at work who liked his toast to be just short of being in flames, so each to his own.
The toast is lowered with an attractive lever with a colour co-ordinated knob and can be lifted during toasting to check on progress without cancelling – just a quick look and carry on toasting or cancel and eat.
The slots are particularly wide, 36mm, 1.4ins in old money, so will fit doorstops if that is your choice. As for Warburton’s Toastie, which seems to have become the unofficial British Standard for toasters, the slices fit . . . just, the top sitting just about inside the target area of the elements — but, if you are concerned by the Warburton’s test, the slices fit comfortably sideways, dropping well into the element comfort zone to end all debate.
So how about toasting, which after all is why you buy a toaster? Attractive design and good looks count for nothing if it can’t toast bread and on that score it is superb.
I must admit, we have been fortunate with toasters over the years. This replaced a Krups’ model we had had had for probably 15-20 years and which had started to toast unevenly and would no longer cancel. Our past toasters have all been good quality and did their job well, but this takes toasting to another level.
First of all it is consistently an even toast, with slices of bread an even colour from edge to edge and both sides virtually the same colour. Wider slices and items such as thick Yorkshire muffins need to turned down a little or checked regularly as obviously the surfaces are closer to the elements so will toast quicker, but again the toasting is even.
The toast itself even tastes a little different, or at least has a slightly different texture than I have found with any other toaster. The outside of the toast comes out crisp, yet the inside is warm and still soft, which becomes more noticeable the thicker the slice. You see this claim on the Dualit videos and think it is just marketing spin, but it is actually true. You get crisp toast with a soft centre.
So far I have found no problem and I am delighted with the toaster’s performance. It is certainly not the cheapest toaster around, and does not have the bells and whistles some toasters can offer, there is no LCD browning control or digital countdown, no motorised lift, no reheat function, but it has everything you are ever likely to need and more than that, what it does have is the ability to make superb toast, and that, after all, is all you really want from a toaster.
The four star on cleaning incidentally, is not because of any inherent difficulty in doing the job, but simply because the shiny chrome demands a bit more effort to keep clean and looking pristine than coloured panels that are happy with merely a quick wipe over.

Have used a few toasters over the years and this is by far and away the best one. Previously, until it burnt out one side kept knocking out the electricity trip switch, I had the Dualit 4 slice but it was never satisfactory as it always seemed to burn the edges. Went for this 2 slice and it’s almost perfect. One slot does toast slightly more quickly than the other and the inner side is slightly browner than the outer but I think this is the same with most toasters. Small niggles though, so still think it is excellent.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersWe purchased a very nice looking ‘4 slice’ Morphy Richards toaster from Amazon about one year ago and I have never been happy with it for a variety of reasons. I have now decided that enough is enough and it was time to buy a slightly more expensive toaster – in this case the Dualit 2 Slice Lite. It was a good decision. At 1.1Kw it produces more heat per slice and so cooks the toast very quickly. Cooking the toast faster means that it is nice and crisp on the outside without drying out inside. Instead of waiting more than 4 minutes for the toast to cook it now takes between one and two minutes. Another benefit is that it takes full sized slices of bread so we no longer have part of the slice sticking out of the top of the machine – this results in evenly cooked toast. The optional use of the bread roll setting is great. With this setting only one side of each slot heats up, which allows the inside of the roll to be toasted without cooking the outside which is already browned – good for for burgers etc.

It is well worth reading the instructions for this toaster. In doing so the user will understand the benefit of warming up the toaster for 30 seconds or so before cooking the first piece of toast and also, if cooking only one piece of toast at a time, why one side will cook slightly more than the other. If one side of the toaster is empty then effectively there is a lot more heat getting to one side of the bread on the side which is being used. This is not rocket science and should be understood by those complaining about both sides not being the same. This is not an issue when cooking two slices at the same time.
I particularly like the ability to lift the toast ‘mid-cook’ without cancelling the process.

    In summary:-
Was it worth paying twice the price of a basic toaster? – Yes.

How long does it take to make toast?- between 1 and 2 minutes per two slices. It definitely pays to heat the toaster for 30 seconds or so before starting a toast making session.

Does paying more for the toaster mean tastier toast? Yes in my opinion. The high power rating cooks the toast faster in a way which crisps the outside without drying out the inside.

Being a two slice toaster will it take longer to cook four slices than using a four slice toaster? – Not really because it toasts so much faster than most cheaper toasters and I was able to restart toasting in quick succession without having to wait for the release mechanism to cool down as with my previous toaster.

Does it take thick rolls etc? – Yes

Can it take the extra height of ‘Non-Square’ supermarket breads – Yes.

How even is the browning? – Very even but be aware that there will be a slight difference on each side if only toasting single slices.

How does the D-Frost button perform? I don’t know because I have not used it yet as I make all my toast from fresh bread.

In a moment of madness I finally treated myself to the toaster that matches the Dualit kettle that has served me well for 15 years. I am happy to find that it is as solidly and simply built as that old reliable 15 year old kettle and just does what it is supposed to do, makes nice evenly browned toast. A worthwhile investment, I just wish I hadn’t waited so long to get it.

I have a Panasonic bread maker and bake a large 500gm loaf. I have tried a number of toasters recommended by Which but they all fail as many of the toasters are too small for larger slices of bread. This dualit toaster got a poor score for toasting larger slices of bread, but having read a review from a satisfied customer I decided to buy it. I’m pleased I did, the slices fit perfectly and the results are excellent. You can lift the toast to check whether it is toasted enough without interrupting the toasting cycle.
Recommend this toaster to anyone who uses a bread maker or buys large loaves of bread.

I’ve bought this toaster a few months ago and have used it a lot. It produces great toast for many different types of bread including white bread, home made bread, wholemeal bread, thick slices, thin slices etc. I’m not sure how east it’s going to be to clean – I haven’t tried yet apart from removing and replacing the tray that collects the crumbs during toasting – but I expect it’ll be easy. I can thoroughly recommend this product.

Had a need to contact the manufacturer because they wouldn’t register the product unless I gave them a mobile number (something I didn’t want to do). Rather bizarre. However they replied almost immediately and confirmed they had taken my mobile number off my registration details.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI did a lot of research before buying this toaster, and as I do with any purchase, I scrutinised the worst reviews carefully. I decided that on balance the good reviews looked more reasonable than the worst. I’ve now been using the toaster for around a month and can report that my decision was correct. The toaster is easy to use, it does the toast quickly enough for me, it browns it evenly and like many reviewers, I agree that to be able to check progress while toasting is a great feature. A big thumbs up from me!

The toaster is easy to use, it does the toast quickly enough for me, it browns it evenly and like many reviewers, I agree that to be able to check progress while toasting is a great feature. A big thumbs up from me!

After a couple of cheap toasters that just didn’t toast bread properly, I decided to go for this one by Dualit …mainly as it came top on Which best buy. It does actually toast the whole slice of bread pretty evenly, and is fairly quick. It also takes a tall slice of bread & it’s well made. So yes it was worth the money, I’m pleased I went for it.

Quite apart from the fact that it’s just a beautiful, stylish piece of equipment that matches my kettle and makes
my kitchen look even better….this is the first toaster I’ve had that produces consistently cooked toast! It’s also
much easier than any other I’ve used to release those awkward broken bits of toast that get stuck inside! A star!

Great little toaster. Produces even and consistent results. Best of all, it can take oversized bread from my bread maker.

Looks good and the crumb tray is easy remove and replace.

Maybe a bit expensive for a toaster.

Love this toaster. It’s the 2 slot model as there are only the two of us now. (Empty nest syndrome!)

The heat settings give a fine degree of control whilst the ability to pop the toast up for inspection without it turning the heat off is a excellent facility.

Very competitively priced too. All in all, very pleased with it.

I bought this item from Amazon Marketplace as ‘used in acceptable condition’ so was expecting cosmetic scratches/blemishes on it. However, the item arrived in perfect condition! I am delighted as saved a small fortune on it from the new price. The box was in acceptable condition but who cares about the box anyway? It’s what’s inside that matters and that was perfect! Happy customer!

We’ve always found toasters to be time consuming and dried the bread out making toast that was too crispy. Not this one, it’s brilliant, we love it. Can’t believe we’ve waited so long to try again, we’ve missed out. Toaster technology has obviously come on a lot over the years, and this one is a leader in our opinion. It looks classy, not too bulky, easy to use and clean, and takes no time at all to deliver hot evenly toasted bread. We also bought the separate toasted sandwich racks – made the best toasted sandwich we’ve ever had.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersI deliberately left it a week or 2 before posting this review. There are a lot of pluses for this toaster.

Firstly, it was wide slots. I’ve have no issues with bagels or burger buns. We haven’t used it for “taller” sliced bread yet but the slots are nearly 6 inches long so shouldn’t be a problem.

Secondly, our last toaster made it very difficult to get the bread out. It was constantly catching on the inside which was infuriating. No such issues here.

Also it feels well made and the bagel function is genius.

Ive seen a lot of people mention even toasting. My only criticism is that at the lower timer settings it doesn’t toast very evenly but this is a very minor issue for me as when it is set to the mid to high settings (4+) is toasts really well and pretty evenly.

Very happy with this and would definitely recommend.

The product is good, however I thought the ‘silver’ part would be made from metal, hence buying it. I was a bit disappointed that it is made from plastic as, given the price, I thought it would be. However, it does nice toast and I can use the toastie maker cages with it, so no problems there. I bought it because we had a traditional Dualit toaster for many years, but as the elements start to go they are expensive to replace; it was cheaper to buy a new one. Neat size, looks good on the counter top in the kitchen and easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersThere are several times in life that it’s important to spend a bit more to get a better product. A toaster is a good example of when to spend a little bit more. There are plenty of toasters that you can get for 30 but they won’t produce the consistency of the Dualit and almost certainly won’t last as long. First class quality toaster that produces good toast. I like the Tescos wholemeal bread which is a bit wider that a normal loaf.

We worried that metal would become a finger print magnet. But due to the ease of raising the toast a little bit higher using the handle this hasn’t become a problem and after two weeks of use there are no finger prints.

The only issue I’ve had is cooking bread from frozen is hit or miss using the defrost button. All I do to get round this is toast it at a lower setting and then at a medium setting once it’s done.

All round a first class, well made toaster.

Very good toaster. My wife has had problems with getting consistent levels of toasting when toasting a second piece of toast immediately after a first piece. When two pieces are toasted together the level of toasting is very good. The ability to review the level of toasting mid cycle without interrupting the timing is excellent. A very good piece of kit and looks good too.

I’ve had this little beauty for a couple of weeks since my previous toaster gave up the ghost. I choose a Dualit toaster to go with my Dualit kettle, the kettle that thinks it’s a rocket!
Before buying these items I had no idea that Dualit were a British company, but they are and they place design, as is obvious, alongside usability and practicality as a key feature for all of their products. But back the the toaster. It has wide slots and fast heat-up so you get toast that is still squidgy in the middle, just as it should be. It’s a joy to use. Like its sister kettle, it may only get used once or twice a day, but it looks good 24/7.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter a lot of review checking for best part of a week on amazon & other sites, I decided to purchase this dualit toaster in black even after seeing few negative reviews, majority seemed positive.

I knew I wanted a 2 slice and had to be black. I needn’t have been worried as the toaster arrived in good condition, well packaged and toasts toast great. I have the toaster set to just below 4 and toasts great, just how I like it.

I have included a picture which shows the toast evenly toasted with both slices that have just popped up and are ready to eat. I put one slice in Vertical and the other horizontal to show both ways toast really well.

I think I’ve purchased the best 2 slice toaster and it looks really stylish and shiny. Very easy to use with great pop up and look function, pricier than some other toasters but dualit are good for toasters (had a 6 slice at work), so worth it. Very happy with purchase and would definitely recommend.

    Great toaster.

Golden Review Award: 48 From Our UsersA great product. Produces edge to edge browning, copes with a range of bread slices, makes succulent toasties and properly cooks bagels. I do suggest, however, you carefully read and follow the instructions for optimum performance then you will be giving it 5 stars too. Before buying this toaster I read a number of the 1 star reviews to see if there were likely to be any issues. Having used the machine for a couple of months it appears most of the problems were caused by failure to follow the instructions. Happy toasting!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersPicking a toaster is overly complicated so I’m gong to keep this very simple. This browns toast faster than an average toaster and it’s evenly brown. Fits large warbutons type bread long ways no problem. Not as heavily built as the high end tank like toasters but is well made looks good and good value definitely a peg up from the average 30quid range.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersPerfectly brown slices in quick time. Defrost mode defrosts and toasts in maybe a minute or so longer than fresh bread and still tastes good.
Easy to clean and looks good.
Fits in most sliced supermarket bread – yet to find one that doesn’t fit, this was my main aim as my old toaster struggled with large bread.
The bagel mode is pretty cool.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI recently bought a Dualit kettle (the most expensive kettle I’ve ever bought!!) and decided to go the whole hog and have a matching toaster. I’m not disappointed, this toaster is also a thing of beauty and as well-made and designed as the kettle. It has great features (like popping the toast etc up to have a look at how it’s doing without stopping the programme) and works well.
I would point out that the kettle was classified as ‘canvas’ in colour but I bought the WHITE toaster which is the same colour and cheaper!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersReplaced its Dualit Lite predecessor of some considerable age which, like some of us, had become rather creaky and a bit erratic although, although still making excellent toast. Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersOur family is strangely critical of toasters that don’t toast bread evenly on both sides. This is one of the more expensive toasters out there but thankfully it’s passed the family toasting challenge toasting evenly on both sides in all four slots regardless of whether your toasting just one of four slices at a time. Phew! It looks good too, is robust and the ability to lift the toast part way through the toasting cycle to see how brown it is, is really quite handy. 4 stars rather than 5 because it’s a tad on the expensive side.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our Usersvery nice toaster lovely gloss to this product. I also bought the kettle but the 2 creams are slightly different colours which was a bit disappointing. Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe have bought some rubbish toasters over the years, none of which seemed to last long. So we decided to spend more than the usual 20-25 and go for something heavier duty. This toaster is a well-built piece of engineering, not a flimsy, seemingly disposable item. The bread is evenly toasted, I love that the slots are wide enough – and automatically adjust – to take fairly big doorsteps of homemade bread. The one-sided bagel toasting feature works fine should you want it, but I especially like that you can just lift the lever to check how things are doing without interrupting the timer.

One word of caution, but not a criticism: the timer knob is fairly sensitive. Where 2 may toast lightly, 3 may be darker than you would like. However, there are several degrees marked between each number on the dial, and the knob will comfortably click onto any of them. It’s just a question of figuring out what you like, then remembering to reset it from whatever your kids/partner/housemate has left it at, and the toaster will reliably repeat your last experience.

We’ve had this for over two months now, and I’ve a feeling it will be around for years.

love this dualit lite toaster for the reasons that it cooks really well and most importantly it cooks evenly when doing crumpets and all types of bread ie white, brown, sliced, unsliced thick thin etc it does the lot to perfection!

it is very simple to use and does lovely toasties with the toasting rack which is an optional extra and well worth it,and is much better than those sandwich toasters no mess and better tasting.has 8 browning settings a defrost setting which i love and it works perfect.also has a bagel setting which i have not tried yet.

one other thing, its the smartest and best looking toaster that i ever seen, and looks really sleek in black and good looking on the work top hence i have given it 5 ***** for all the reasons above and can recommend this toaster to all,and i think its worth the money!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersWhat are people complaining about? This is a well made, beautifully designed, inexpensive and fully functioning toaster. I had one of the old metal ones which was lousy because anything wider than a pencil just got stuck and caught fire. THIS one is GREAT – it’s light and nicely designed and will take ANY width of bread. We can do crumpets and Hot Cross Buns and wide bread – even toasties. It also has a great ‘peek’ function which allows you to see how you’re getting on so that nothing gets burnt.

For my money this is the best looking toaster one can buy (for the money). None of them is perfect – there is no such thing as a toaster which gets every type and every thickness of bread perfectly brown – eveyone knows that – but this is the best I have seen (and I am a product designer). I have had this for a couple of years now and it’s been great.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersOk it’s an expensive toaster but not as expensive as a fully grown Dualit which will cost you an additional 100! Have owned it for 5 weeks as I write this. So far so happy. Spring mechanism working ok. Toasts evenly and the graduations of the settings are fairly predictable in effect. Accommodates variety of thicknesses confortably. Bagel setting (which also works for teacakes) is helpful in not drying out the product. Crumb tray slides out and in smoothly. Outside of toaster can be cleaned with slightly damp or even dry soft cloth. Largeish footprint on your worktop so plan for that. Looks good and working well so far. You can buy a perfectly satisfactory toaster for half this sum, but if you fancy the brand and the look and can bear spending the extra, give it a go.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis was a house-warming present – I’m not sure I would have spent this much on a toaster ordinarily – but it’s a real treat!
The colour matches the Whirlpool Max25 cream microwave – a lovely rich vanilla cream – but sadly does NOT match the Dualit jug kettle…. WHY?!

It does everything I need it to – ie toasts sliced bread evenly and consistently, and looks great in my kitchen.
I’ve not tried the bagel function (toasts one side and warms the other) or the defrost yet. It’s handled my extra-thick home-made bread beautifully. You can lift the toast during the toasting time to have a peek without disrupting the toasting duration.

Positives: toasts perfectly, lovely design, quality “feel”, just the colour I wanted!

    Negatives: none yet.
(If I was being really, really picky, I’d say that it would be useful to have more sensitivity between browning settings, and there is a tiny ridge between the chrome bit and the cream surround that catches crumbs. No big deal.)
