The robot is used every day to clean both the ground floor and the 1st floor of a 3 bed semi. It is very effective on carpets and laminate floors. It is very easy to use, light to move and collects amazing amounts of dust every day. It is low so goes under sofas and beds; a simple wooden block can be added to the feet of furniture if necessary to raise it a little.
I would monitor it for the first few outings as it can get snagged on stray cords from carpets or curtains, or stuck under an uneven piece of furniture. It this happens it just bleeps and then stops. Once your space is robot friendly it can be programmed to work every day. I set it for 6am so when I come down the ground floor is immaculate.
It is good with flat rugs and door mats but does not get on with long straggly rugs. Another review called it ‘life changing’ and to my amazement I totally agree.
I would recommend the basic model as it’s lightness and simplicity are valuable qualities.

Bought for daughter and she named hers Jennifer. Daughter loves Jennifer and sings her praises and now says she would be lost without her. She is upstairs showering and Jennifer busy downstairs cleaning. Does a great job and Jennifer is part of the family now.

You definitely need one of these if you share your house with dogs or cats. I’m amazed at what it picks up. Can get stuck on door saddles and tends to go into certain rooms in the house over and over on auto mode and leaves others out. Needs to be kept clean and an eye kept on what may be laying around your floor. This hoover gets stuck on phone wires socks, makes so much noise if it tries to suck up money. I really love this as I can let it hoover away while I clean elsewhere

I was persuaded to buy one of these by my son but I was hesitant because I thought it was gimmicky! However, after 3 months use I can say that they are a brilliant invention. We have two cats and one dog and this is a 7 people household so you can imagine there is a lot of dust and hair and this gadget is a huge help in keeping the place clean, it is set to go around twice a day and I can never believe the amount of hair and stuff it picks up. This was true from the first day when I had hoovered carefully 4 hours before its maiden voyage.
But be aware that after just 3 months of use, Oddbod as we call him developed a fault and would not go more than 20 seconds without stopping and beeping. So the manual told us that it was 4 beeps a MAIN BRUSH MALFUNCTION which persisted even though we did a thorough clean out. Reading other reviews, it seemed that we were likely to face a torturous and probably unsuccessful effort to get a refund other buyers who were successful in getting their money back were told to just purchase another Deebot. I paid 129 for mine, now they are retailing at 210.
Anyway, youtube Ecovacs Deebot N79 Main Brush Error Fix – Four Beeps, Erik Komurek gives a great demonstration in how to clean the part that causes this problem. It takes about 45 mins but really works and my Deebot is back in full operation. It was probably headed for the bin otherwise.
    UPDATE
So it is now 3 months since we had to do the Main Brush Error Fix – Four Beeps and Oddbod is going strong with no further problems but what I have taken from this is that you really must keep this thing clean. Now I try to make sure and check it every day so not just emptying it out but cleaning the brushes as well. When it developed its fault, the main brush was really bound up with hair and thread etc. Don’t let that happen and it probably won’t develop that main brush error. We’ll see.
People have commented here that keeping it clean is an overhead but it really only takes about 2 minutes to do a good clean out. Worth it for all the work Oddbod gets done!

I saw a friend had one so I bought one. It does works very well especially on a wooden floor or any flat floor. It does work on carpet but I think not as effective as a proper vacuum cleaner like my Miele one. Just to sit down and watch this little cleaner go around and collect top dust is amusing.
If you are a gadget freek then get one.

I must admit, I was sceptical – but got a good deal and I’m a lazy whatsit… so thought I’d give it a go!

I’m very impressed so far. I moved into a new flat recently, and have discovered that perhaps it wasn’t *entirely* my ex-girlfriend’s fault that brown hairs were everywhere in the place we shared! The Deebot takes care of that well, and the amount of dust it picks up is phenomenal. It’s a little bit haphazard with it’s directional sense, but then so is Jordan Ayew – and I’d have to pay about 3m up front and then 50k a week if I wanted him to vacuum the place.

All in all, very happy with this mercurial little dust buster so far. So much cheaper than having a girlfriend – and it never makes me watch rubbish documentaries on Netflix.

Very pleased with this product, it is preforming very well and is so easy to set up, the motor seems very strong and has no problem hopping over saddle boards or up onto thick rugs, the suction is very strong and keeps the floors nice and clean.
Becareful of animals tho as sometimes it won’t see there littel paws and ram right into them, also watch out for certain types of furniture as it may mark or scratche it from riding up on it or bumping into it.
Overall a fantastic product at a great price

Deebot, or Toby as he gets called (for obvious reason) is great! Tireless enough to vacuum for 90 mins he gets on while I’m doing things I actually want to. Small enough to go under beds and low furniture he gets where I wouldn’t bother. He does do a midnight clean, even though I’ve reset to factory settings but there is an off switch. What makes the difference for me is my floors get cleaned much more frequently so everything looks and is cleaner than a once-a-week vacuum.

Added bonus is watching the cats’ reactions. Toby uses the Mr Magoo driving method, randomly bumping (or sensing) objects. He does the edges really well. Easy to clean. Just sweep out the box and brush the filters every so often. The roller only needs cleaning if it picks up long hair etc.

Spare parts. I got a set of 4 x rotary brushes, 2 x filters, 1 x roller and a cleaning tool for under12. They look fine and cheaper than the 54 official set. His brushes get a bit splayed. I just twist them and peg in place for an hour. Good as new. Don’t think I’ll need those spare parts for ages yet.

A definite YES from me. Worth waiting for a sale. I paid 129 just after Xmas.

Great little cleaner does the job I don't want, and does it well!

This is the most ever better thing I’ve bought recent days. I have 2 young children and it was hard to clean the house (especially the floor under the dining table) everyday which I was not able to do. With this robot, it takes only 10 mins for me to clean the floor
It is also unbelievable how it cleans the hair on the floor.
I’d highly recommend if you are looking for a robot which is not so expensive but doing great.

Easy to get up and running, easy to charge, and easy to empty and maintain. Deebot has been a great little addition to our household. Successfully lifts pet hairs dropped by my cat and Irish Red Setter, and crumbs dropped by my kids. Slightly noisier than I expected but not so noisy that it’s an issue. I bought this as my son is disproportionately scared of the noise that a regular vacuum cleaner makes but this one doesn’t bother him. In fact, he likes to watch it move around. Had to create a new channel on my broadband router in order to use the app but that was easier than i thought it would be. Would definitely recommend.

A gift from my son. I was rather skeptical about the robot but it’s brilliant doing a great job of keeping the house tidy. It’s saving me a lot of time & great to hear it trundling around while I’m getting on with other things. Highly recommend if you have lots of floor space to deal with.

    Update:
Recently deebot had a malfunction with the driver wheel, customer service was second to none with reply time & suggestions on how to fix, but unfortunately nothing worked and ecovacs arranged collection for repair, it was super easy! Just print label and drop off at collection point.
Although it was only a short time that I had Deebot (3wks) I was completely lost without him all in all it took 2.5wks for his return but I’m happy to say he is working away making my life so much easier! After my experience with ecovacs customer service & repair I would have no hesitation in recommending or purchasing from again
The best purchase of the decade!

Ive had deebot for nearly a week, and he’s been put to work twice a day, upstairs mainly carpet and down stairs mainly tiles and wood flooring and its an absolutely brilliant little machine, yeah it goes randomly around the place, but when you go to check, your floors are clean and at an affordable price! Every morning I wake up to clean floors do yourself a favour and get one
My BEST BUY of the Decade!! I just love it, and would already feel lost without i

I’ve had this for around a year now and it’s changed my life. I hoover ‘manually’ every 3 days and have this going everyday on a timer in between. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do and does it very well. For the price you can’t get any better. I do a little service on it once a month, cleaning out the filter and removing any tangled hair from the brushes, my consumables (brushes, filter, roller) is still on 48% so I expect to change them every 2 years.

I have asthma and both dust AND vacuuming can make me unwell. The idea that I could put the vacuum on and leave while it does its thing is amazing, but I’ve discovered that I now vacuum more frequently too, so it’s a double win. If you do decide to stay in while it vacuums (I did this the first time to check it worked okay) then you’ll be pleased to know that it’s nowhere near as noisy as a normal vacuum. 🙂

This was worth the buy. Now I have spare time to do other things .
It does the job. We use the remote control to even clean the small patch of dirt.
The only thing is this will require regular cleaning of the parts( video on youtube). It is easy to do as well. The frequency of it depends on how much dust and hair are there. The more there is, the more frequent cleaning is required.

Really don’t know how I managed so long without one of these. Great value for money and does the job perfectly. I turn it on before I go out and when I get back it’s hoovered the lounge, bedroom, hallway, bathroom and kitchen. It picks up everything, dust, cottons, fluff and anything else that gets dropped on the floor.

Fab robot that can be programmed to come on whenever you want or just set off when you want. It’s good on carpet and especially on wooden floors. Great at getting bits of fluff and hair at the edges of rooms too. Highly recommend. We will never do the hoovering ourselves again! Fab time saver when you’re busy with kids and work and would be great for those with health and mobility issues too.

Absolutely life changing! Owned a previous robotic hoover but after it died we replaced him with ‘Clive’ (blame the kids for the name). He is absolutely superb. He’s programmed to come on everyday while I’m at work and does an incredible job all around the edges and takes himself back to the docking station when he’s finished which is quite entertaining to watch sometimes especially when being chased by the dog! Absolutely love love love him!

    I absolutely love DEEBOT.
A friend of mine had one trundling around her floors….. her dog seemed quite un bothered by it and she was very positive about it.
Knowing i wouldnt get much of an anniversary gift after 20 years of marriage and seeing it was on special offer before Christmas i treated myself.
    What a joy.
I have wooden floors downstairs and 2nr large dogs and this little fella means i dont have to get the hoover out at all.
I was thinking of naming him after my husband ….
I empty the tray and always blown away with what this chap picks up.
Have recommended to anyone who will listen.

Absolutely brilliant! I can’t rate this enough, it has freed up so much of my time.
I have 2 pugs who shed their coats so much that I’m surprised they have anything left to shed , I’m super particular with my floors being a dog owner and always hoovered on a daily basis , I doubted that nothing could do the job as well as myself but I was wrong !
I set it to come on early morning before everyone gets up , it doesn’t wake us and my floors have never looked cleaner .
Deebot can be set up with a routine timer and also activated manually with the controls or on the unit itself, it glides around easily and can also be set to do edge cleaning as well.
I would highly recommend this handy gadget.
I have also purchased the washer as well to complete the clea

I’ve been using this now since before Christmas and I absolutely love it. With 2 dogs, I did wonder how effective it would be but it actually does a great job. Setting up with Alexa was a bit of a faff but great once it’s done. The first few times it did seem to wander about a bit aimlessly and took a while to find it’s way back to base. Leave it alone and it definitely seems to learn it’s way around. Can’t ever see myself wanting to be without one now.

Really good bit of kit this… We set it up and straight away he was off cleaning the whole of our downstairs. He did just under two hours and came back with a very full drum of dust and general bits and pieces. We only had him on the lower suction setting and it still pretty powerful. I was not sure if he would navigate round the whole of the downstairs as several rooms but he managed. We will still get old vac out from time to time I’m sure but its good just for leaving the house and leaving him going while you are out. Highly recommend.

Been looking at getting one for ages — then my wife told me her sister had got this model and she was happy with it. So like a good husband got it for her as a Christmas gift. We set it up and its fantastic. Does a great job and very quiet so can run at night while;st we sleep in peace. Appears to be learning the rooms well we are going too try and mount the cock under a sideboard so the robovac is hidden. Copes well with the changes of surface -carpet-tiled hallway-wooden floor kitchen and the thresholds

Almost perfect! Makes keeping the house clean much easier although there is room for improvement. If you’re thinking of buying one of these, there are a few things to think about. It’s great for hard floors which I have plenty of but it doesn’t like thicker rugs and the brushes are starting to wear out quicker than they should so I’ve resorted to pulling up the thicker rugs and hoovering them separately which rather defeats the object. It doesn’t like rugs with tassels as they get caught. You have to spend quite a bit of time preparing the room before you can use the hoover as it needs to be able to move around easily so using the autoclean isn’t really an option. The battery life is lower than I wanted and as I have quite a bit of floor space, the hoover can’t clean my house in one go. It does pick up alot of dust though, I have to empty quite alot so it’s doing its job. It has a mind of its own, it goes over areas it’s already done and is a bit random. Having said all that, I’m glad I bought it but probably should’ve gone for an upgraded version.

it’s incredible!! We took down the Xmas decs today and I ended up having to hoover 4x today already so I wasn’t expecting much but when I came to empty it it was almost full! We have a step half way through the kitchen (open plan house) but it’s so clever it didn’t fall off – very easy to set up on my phone (I’m not techy) so impressed.
Have never been so excited about a gadget – even the kids comments how fluffy the carpet feels again.

Best gadget I’ve ever bought! Easy it set up with WiFi and Alexa. I have wood and tiled floors throughout down Stair, does an amazing job of hoovering up, I was amazed how much it picked up (mainly cat hair from my two cats). Not as good on carpets but OK for a quick go over in-between using the big hoover. Timer function is great for when I’m at work, walk into nice clean floors! I have owned a more expensive well known brand in the past, and I would definitely recommend this one as a good match on performance, at a fraction of the price! Great value for money.

I got this on a Black Friday deal and honestly I would pay the full price for it, does miss some corners and I notice it goes over some spots 100 times and others 1 so sometimes have to put in on twice in a row but as an owner of 2 50kg house dogs this is the best thing since sliced bread! It’s so nice to be able to put this on everyday and not actually get the big bulky hoover out everyday and now if someone is calling round I don’t have to run in and try brush my floor instead of having food I can just turn this on from anywhere and come home to nice clean floors

We have a spaniel, this product has helped keep our hard floors and rugs grit and hair free. We use it to save sweeping / vacuuming every day – sounds lazy but great to come down from working / in from a walk to cleaner floors. Not perfect – in terms of we do still have to vacuum especially corners / edges – but has made such a difference.

Only real down is tendency to wedge itself under the side board (we now block it off). We empty the ‘bin’ after every use and hair does get round the brush (as it does with any vacuum) but overall delighted. We don’t use Alexa; we just set it going manually.

Robbie (the Deebot) is my new best friend. He’s set to hoover my living room every night at midnight. I’m not sure how long he takes, but the dust he collects is mind-boddling! There’s 3 humans, a dog and 4 cats live in our house (the hens and ducks don’t come in over the winter) and the carpet is spotless! You could hear my corded Hoover picking up bits after I’d used my cordless Dyson, but there’s none of that now, in fact the Hoover has gone into retirement and the Dyson the tip. Robbie can be asked to come out of his house and clean up on-demand, etc, and will connect to my phone, although I’ve not done this. I’d recommend this little robot to anyone.

  39. Ben Jones says:

What can I say? This is a must for any household. Especially a house hold with kids and dogs. We have set up a cleaning schedule for early morning and early afternoon, so the house is spotless when we get up in the morning and for when we return from work.
Our son has named our Deebot Barry and he is a most welcome member of the family. I would say that Barry is on par with our hand held dyson v8 and maybe even a little better. You can select different cleaning modes, turn him on and send him home via Alexa and even take control of him via the remote or the app on your phone if you need to target a specific spill.
All in all, Barry feels like a living breathing member of our family and he would be sorely missed if he was ever to go to the ECOVACS grave yard in the sky.
Barry’s been with us for well over a year now probably nearer to 2 years. With a few replacement brushes and filters over the years he’s still performing wonders. When his work is done each day he returns to his little base tucked under our coffee table and sleeps patiently waiting for his next shift to start. All we have to do is make sure he’s emptied daily and give him a pat of appreciation.
Make Barry a member of your family today and I promise you will never look back and your love will only grow.
God bless Barry and all the dust he removes.

I have 5 cats so l have a big problem with cat hair! I hoovered up the cats room before my wife let loose the “DEEBOT” on it so I was expectIng for it to come back with an empty tray!! Boy was I wrong it came back with a full tray!! Every time I set it going it always comes back with a full tray! I just don’t know were its all coming from!! Its has unbelievable strong power it won’t fall down the stairs and once its done hoovering it returns to its charge point to stay charge!! It may take abit for it to find the charging point but it does find it eventually! My cats seem to like it aswell but I just can’t believe how much crap it picks up! Its that great I’m even thinking of getting another one for downstairs!

I have had a robot vacuum before and it was so useless i sent it straight back. So I was dubious about trying another one. This one is brilliant, I am so happy with it. I have 4 shedding cats, and using this vacuum daily keeps ontop of the hair and tiny bit of cat litter they carry all over the house.
It’s quiet, cheaper than most others, just leave it to crack on, and the job gets done.
I don’t have Alexa so can’t comment on this.
I downloaded the app no problems, but tbh I just press the button on it when I want it to go. And take it upstairs and press the button, it gets everywhere eventually. Doesn’t use the most sensible routes, but if you leave it long enough it will cover the entire floor area.
It goes up and over door mats and from vinyl to carpet no problem.
It doesn’t have too many fancy features, but I think they’re unnecessary anyway. It vaccuums well.. what more could you want from this plucky little chap?
My hesitation before buying was that the suction is listed as 1000 pa, others are more, even up to 3000 pa so I thought the suction may be poor. However, it is more than adequate somehow. I have to empty after every use, and I use it every day. It helps me keep onto of the house work, as I keep everything picked up off the floor, and Herbert does the hard bit.

Ronnie our robot really is good, haven’t setup Alexa or timed programs etc yet in fact haven’t even read the manual, but just switch him on let him run round the house when you aren’t there and when his battery runs low he goes ‘home’ to get charged. Just empty before next use, goes from room to room over the sills and so far so good hasn’t gone over the staircase. Highly recommend, might get another one for upstairs and one for dow

What a great invention this is – it works far better than I thought it would. No more vacuuming for me. 🙂

Anyway, to my point re BT Home Hub 2:

This just would not connect – it was an absolute pig because it insists on a 2.4Ghz connection and despite the router having this it refuses to join.

You will need to do the following before it will connect:

WARNING – you must have the computer connected to the router with a cable, if it’s a WiFi link you won’t be able to change it back unless you are connected via 2.4Ghz.

    1. Go into a browser and type in the address of your router and log in (the address and password are on the removable slide on the back of the router).

    2. Click on WiFi connections and switch off 5Ghz, then change the Mode setting to Mode 3. Click save changes.

    3. Now set up as per instructions.

    4. Once it’s working you can then go back and reverse the changes you made – turn it back to 5Ghz and Mode 1 (or whatever it was on previously).

You owe me a beer. 😉

Would definitely recommend this as it has made life so much easier. The only issue I had with it was that it kept starting to clean each night at midnight even though I didn’t have a time scheduled. It took me ages to find out that I needed to cancel this via the remote control – not clear from the manual. Not possible to do via the App. You need to hold down the time button on the remote for about 3 seconds and it cancels the midnight cleaning. Other than that delighted.

I wanted a lightweight vacuum cleaner for a mid-week clean and had been looking at stick cordless vacuum cleaners. The reviews weren’t that great and mentioned poor suction- similar to our old car vacuum (which was rubbish). Then I looked at reviews for robot vacuums and they seemed much more favourable, I decided to give Deebot a try, I’m so glad I did. It is unnecessary for me to download the app, as I just use him when I’m at home. So easy, I just put him down in the room you want him to start, press auto (on the top of him) and off he goes, busily doing his stuff. He’s so thorough and happily goes under the sofas, the bookcase, sideboard etc. While I get on with something else. Then when I think he’s finished downstairs I carry him upstairs and put him down and off he goes. He cleans up to the edge of the stairs and never falls down.
After each clean I empty his dust container – always completely full , shake out his filters and make sure his roller brush under him is clean and clear, then wipe his sensors – only takes a few minutes, then he goes back on his charging dock.
There is a remote control (that comes with batteries) that gives more options – and while setting the correct time on that I accidentally set him to come out and start cleaning at 2 am – which he obediently did! This was my fault and very easily rectified by pressing one button on the remote control to cancel the setting.
All in all delighted with the purchase

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe wife is a stickler for hoovering. She does it every day and can spot a spec of dust at thirty paces. She is away on business quite a bit and loves her weekends away with the girls so I bought this for when she’s out. I keep it in the garage and bring it out when I need it. It does a fab job and cleans really well, so much so that she always compliments me when she returns and keeps asking why I can hoover better than her.

I selected this robot vac as it wasn’t too expensive and I was worried the dogs would eat it, hump it or attack it. Fortunately they did none of these, although they did eat the remote control, not the remotes fault. The Deebot has made an amazing difference, the floor is no longer continually covered in dog hairs. I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it. I just need one that can do stairs and pick up poo in the garden now and my life would be complete!
The only problem I had was connecting it to the wifi our router is on the wrong channel and I can’t figure out how to change it to be able to set up the Wi-Fi connections.
If you don’t have one I highly recommend it and only ask why I didn’t get this a long time ago.

This is the best robot vacuum cleaner I have owned and we have owned about 4 ( they only last 2-3 years)

The roller function on this assists the suction to ensure it picks up larger items. It’s so good it picked up a key ring that I had to remove from the dustbin!!

We did have to strategically place some items to block places where it could get wedged under the settee.

Alexa works well as does the app although it wasn’t clear which app to download and this vacuum wasn’t listed in the app but a different one worked and I can now switch the vacuum on when away from home or set the timer!!

Really impressed with this DEEBOT hoover you can clean on auto or manually which is great fun learns it’s way around my home even picks up hair from my cat who so far is not impressed. When the battery is low it returns to the charger hub or you can press the home button on the remote control. Just make sure there are no trailing wires on the floor mobile phone chargers etc.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWith a nearly crawling baby and toddler at home I just can’t keep up with the amount of hoovering that needs doing and decided to get a robot vac. Settled on this due to the good value for money. Really easy to use out of the box. Set it running in the living room on carpet and was very impressed how much dirt was collected – filling up the bin within half an hour (bearing in mind I’d hoovered three days before). Considering it has a basic random pattern of movement it gave surprisingly good coverage and got around and under all our furniture. I was debating whether to get an expensive model that can do laser mapping, virtual boundaries etc but it’s really not needed in our small home – sure you might need to shut a door to keep him out of certain areas but considering the cost this is a fantastic little bot who gets your floors cleaned whilst you do other things!

    Great first impressions

It’s easy to use. It has an option to clean corners that I found particularly useful. The carpet is clean.
