Bought to cut down some branches that I had acquired.
Learning to woodturn, and was given 4 large branches, this chainsaw made light work of cutting them down to usable sizes. Easy to use.
Took me a couple of attempts to assemble but found thats much easier with 2 people just to make sure things are in place before tightening.
I would recommend, cable is a decent length and it’s not overly heavy to hold / use

My third petrol chainsaw refused to start and I was fed up with repairing it. So I researched electric versions and found an online review highly recommending this model, saying it was his day to day machine.
Amazed at the price, I went for it. I have cut up a winters supply of logs with it already and it has never missed a beat. Two things that impress me the most, first is the instant stop, a great feature, as chainsaws are very dangerous beasts. Secondly is the power, the two stroke used to falter, this does not, it just powers on. And thirdly (I know I said two things), no messing with petrol, two stoke oil, running out of fuel, just a heavy duty extension lead is requited (it is 2KW after all).
For the portable jobs, I have invested in a 30cm brushless battery Ryobi chainsaw. I do the cutting with this, and drag the wood for the mains variant to log … works for me.
Very impressed with this, the plastics make it look like a toy, which it certainly is not.

Final point, so worrying reviews about chains coming off the bar and chains breaking. Chainsaws are very very dangerous, do some reading and learning about checks, usage and maintenance before starting off. I am constantly, checking tension, sharpening and topping up the oil and never had a problem.

If you need a reasonably priced chainsaw without any doubt I would recommend this Einhell GH-EC 2040 Electric Chainsaw.
Super simple to set up (with NO tools) really easy to use and very sharp.
It feels very solid in the hands with no flimsiness, just remember to adjust the chain regularly especially when new and use proper chain saw oil and I’m sure this saw will give years of useful service.
I am very pleased with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve taken down 2 trees with it so far and not had any issues. I was a bit apprehensive because of some of the other reviews, but the chain is great and the whole machine cuts through trunks and branches easily. Don’t forget to add Chainsaw Chain Oil to your order too, you have to fill up the tank before you start using it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWhat a great bit of kit I was worried about quality before I bought this saw but totally unfounded. After I assembled it I set about cutting up a tree trunk I had been given, this saw went through it like butter at this price I would recommend this to anyone

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFor the price this is a really good chainsaw.
I have used it to cut logs, branches etc and has cut really well. As long as your expectations are not too high, it’s definitely worth the money.
Shame you have to buy oil before you start be a nice touch to have a small bottle to get you started.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersInstructions were good, I made sure to read them slowly and throughly for obvious reasons. I got the chain on ok, I made sure the tension was right, added the oil to the reservoir. Got to cut my first branch and it was incredibly hard work. The next one during the cut the saw started to smell and smoke. The wife told me to put more effort into it! I told her I’d watched videos and it shouldn’t be this hard, something was wrong I looked at the blade that the chain was wrapped around and noticed a very small indicator that enlightened me to realise the chain was on the wrong way around. The silver cutters in the chain needed to face away from the device at the top and towards the device at the bottom. After the switch the chainsaw cut through the branches and trunk like a hot knife through butter! Small conifer felled in around 30 mins! I note many 1 stars reviews have probably been due to the chain on the wrong way. Great product!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought one of these to cut up logs in my garden. Was a little hesitant but the machine does cut very nicely. My only issue is that it is easy for the oil lubrication system to get blocked and so every 20 minutes or so I have to check the chain and sometimes disassemble and clean before proceeding. I plan to sharpen after every 1 hour session.
Continued to cut up quite a few trees now, all with the original chain. The saw behaves quite well. After each 2-hour session I give the chain 4 or 5 licks of the file to sharpen, followed removing it for a clean, and then leaving it dis-assembled to soak in a tub of chain saw oil until needed.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI looked at hiring a chainsaw to take down 3 20ft trees in the back garden, but had a quick look on here and this worked out cheaper.
Very easy to assemble, first undo the outer housing by unwinding the wheel, then back the chain tensioner off as far as it will go, then fit the chain and bar (making sure you get the chain the correct way, there is an indepth book with it also), there is a locating lug on the body which helps line up the bar, then fit the outer casing back on and adjust the tensioner wheel making sure you leave the smallest amount of play.
Don’t worry about buying separate chain oil, i put some 5w/30 engine oil in and did the job fine.
What i would advise is after a few cuts, tighten the chain again by pushing the adjustment wheel down to the + symbol.

More than enough power, had the trees down in a few minutes, then after doing the typical bloke bit standing there, foot on the trunk admiring my achievement !!! proceeded to spend the rest of the morning cutting them into logs for the wood burner.

If you want a chainsaw, will use it a couple of days then probably never need it again like me, then this is a belting bit of kit for the money.
Next doors trees look like they need a bit of trimming now 🙂

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this as it was cheaper to buy outright than to hire one for the day. It arrived quickly, well packaged. It was a little fiddly to get the chain on properly, and, although great value, it wouldn’t have hurt to have included some oil. As it was, I used olive oil, as this was recommended elsewhere. This isn’t light! But I needed to chop down a palm tree that had suffered weather damage. Took me all of 10 minutes to remove the branches, and cut the trunk down into log sized chunks to be dried and used as bbq fuel in the summer. Went like a hot knife through butter. It may not be able to withstand industrial use, but for occasional cutting this is a fantastic addition to my tools.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this saw to cut down a 60 year old Apple tree in my daughters small garden, never used one before but I know how dangerous they can be so I was very careful using it.
I found it cut through the tree with ease you don’t have to put pressure on the blade for it to go through the wood just the weight of the saw is enough, make sure you read and understand how to set it up and check the chain tension now and again as you use it, all in all a great product and I would defiantly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Saw

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have never owned or used a chainsaw before and needed to remove (fell and dispose) 8 over-grown conifer trees. I was going to purchase a Bosch unit as I have always used Bosch power-tools, however, I spotted this for more than half the price and decided to take a punt. It performed brilliantly and delivered everything I asked of it. The only time it failed (chain jumped off) was because I didn’t read the instructions properly and hadn’t set the chain tension correctly. I would highly recommend this unit for general home garden maintenance.

Bought to tame a very substantial garden with a lot of lopping to do.
So far it has made large jobs easy and fast, cuts like a knife through butter.
I have had no issues with chain adjustment so far.
Lots of tree trimming and log cutting done with no problem.
I rate this little saw, it’s easier than messing arround with a petrol engine, just be aware of the power cord at
all times and buy the correct safety equipment – I doubt you will be dissapointed.

Quotes from aborists to thin and reduce the beech tree in our garden were becoming quite excessive so purchased this as a potentially much cheaper solution. The chainsaw was easy to assemble and it worked extremely well, cutting through thick branches without any problem. So for 25% of the cheapest quote we achieved our aim and will be able, with more frequent pruning, to keep on top of the problem in future years with minimal cost, such as a new chain. Very happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have an old petrol chainsaw, but was becoming fed up with mixing the 2-stroke mix and the noise, although I have ear protectors. Decided on this mains powered saw rather than a battery powered one because of the longer usage time and no recharging to do. Obviously the need to be connected to mains electricity limits where it can be used, but with a long extension cable and circuit breaker I can reach most of my garden; but I would not use it outside in wet weather! I should heve realised the electric motor would have been fairly heavy, but I can cope with that. Overall, I am very pleased I purchased this saw.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery impressed with this chainsaw. Made short work of an old, thick ivy trunk which I cut down in sections.
    Good points:
Fast braking, chain stops immediately when you release the power switch.
Long power cable (not measured it but probably about 10 metres).
    Some niggles:
Setup instructions could be a bit clearer, especially around the fitting of the chain guide.
Tensioning wheel is flimsy and is difficult to use because it’s recessed (doesn’t sit far enough out from the chain wheel cover). Tensioning wheel seems to drift so chain needs retensioning quite often.
Doesn’t come with oil (I had to go out and buy a 1L can before I could use the saw), a small 50 or 100ml bottle would have been useful so that the saw could be used out of the box.
    Safety:
I’d say this piece of kit is probably one of the more dangerous ones in my range of DIY tools, so make sure you wear protective gear, especially a hard hat with ear defenders and face protector (there can be quite a bit of flying debris in use), and thick gloves. Read the instruction booklet carefully.

This bad boy chopped up my almond tree effortlessly .. You have to be safety conscious while using it..you must plan the task carefully, always beware of the power cable and where it is, and take your time, but it’s so powerful..hot knife through butter analogy…essential to keep checking the chain tension as when it heats it stretches..but the screw adjustments on the saw made on the go adjustment so simple..the auto chain stop and brake are excellent safety features. My advice is to take the chain off after use and immerse it in chain oil..keep it well lubricated..brilliant chainsaw, can’t recommend enough.

Bought this as my battery powered saw wasn’t lasting long enough. So glad I did. Obviously it can be used without worrying how much power is left but the difference in the cut is remarkable. It flies through decent size trunks. As with all wired power tools you need to be extra careful where the wire is but the difference in cut is well worth the extra care. Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI have used the Einhell chain saw a couple of times, now, both for extended periods of time to cut back the tops of overgrown Laurel bushes in my garden. Assembly instructions are more than adequate for putting the chain saw together and filling up with chain saw oil (bought separately). The power chord is plenty long enough too.

The chain saw feels a little heavy but manageable. Because the operating handle is set to the right, it complicates cross cutting from left to right because the body gets in the way a little. I am particularly impressed by the safety features. The chain stops rotating immediately the button is released, and the guard at the front prevents it being operated when pressed forwards.

It’s been effective at cutting off about a metre from the tops of my 3.5m high Laurel bushes – about 30-35 metres across. A good test severing the tangled thickish branches. The chain has come off 3 or 4 times, which is a bother, and I see other feedback has reported the same issue. Straightforward to reassemble the chain and an opportunity to clean out under the chain cover and fixing screw. I’m hoping this issue is down to how I am using the chain saw – cutting a tangle of branches at odd angles – rather than something more sinister. I do check the chain tension at intervals so don’t think it is because the chain is too loose. Maybe when used in a more conventional way, like cutting logs, it might not happen. Time will tell.

All in all I am more than pleased with the power and performance of this Einhell Chain Saw particularly when taking into account the price I paid, Great value for money.

This made short work of a tree I wanted to chop down and pruning a gigantic bush. I would say that you tighten the chain more than you perhaps think you should and it goes through oil quite quickly, but it took something that would have taken hours and made it a job lasting mere minutes.

Chainsaw was perfect for me. I wanted to cut some large branches into logs. I got chainsaw trousers at the same time, wouldn’t use chainsaw without them. Never used one before, but very easy to assemble and use. The chainsaw stops instantly you stop pressing the trigger, perfect, and has a daft lock when stacking logs or whatever, thus preventing anyone from just pressing the trigger and starting it up. You need chainsaw oil, but it’s not expensive. Very good quality for the price. I would recommend this product to my friends.

I cut through 8 trees with a diameter of 200mm and it worked very well.
FOR IDIOTS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ITEM: IT IS NOT FOR LEAVES OR TWIGS OR BUSHES. IT IS A CHAINSAW. IT IS FOR LARGE PIECES OF WOOD.
If you cut small stuff, it will simply jam the chain so if you need to cut small stuff (up to 10mm diameter), hedge trimmers are surprisingly powerful.

Love the 5mtr lead and it works great. Only downside is when I release the trigger it makes a really rough noise when the chain comes to a stop. I always make sure it’s fully topped up with oil so don’t know what’s making the noise but it’s still working fine, hopefully it won’t stop it worrying because I love it.

You must check the tension of the chain as 3rd time it was used it all came apart and was tricky to put back again. We use it to cut quite thick logs for firewood which it does ok. Definitely would recommend.

Nice and powerful, cut through 20 cm green oak like butter, with no stalling. Includes a reasonably long lead. The tool-free chain tensioning works nicely- components are all plastic, which concerned me a bit- but so far I’ve had no problems (I suspect there may be metal bits moulded inside the plastic). Safety latch and trigger both work fine. Chain has a powerful brake on it too- stops almost instantly after releasing the trigger. This is my first electric saw- I didn’t realize that electric ones still need chain oil (seems obvious now)- this is not included.

The item arrived on time and the packaging was in a pristine condition and with an excellent manual giving clear pictures of how to assemble the chain element of the item. Overall assembly was quite easy although at times an extra pair of hands would have been useful to steady the main body of the machine. That said, it was manageable. The machine is substantial but not overly heavy and was very easy to use. I was impressed with the speed that the chain stopped when the cutting had been completed. Very easy to use although as with all chainsaw the appropriate PPE should be worn. Safety first.
