I love mine on my desk. Comes with sticky tape already applied- and insanely easy to use. Will order again.

This does not come with the adapter kit, its only the light strip with the power supply and wifi head

When I first got this in, I appreciated the eco-friendly packaging and the general quality of everything. The lights diffuse pretty well, at least in my use case where they are mounted to the sides of my desk, and they don’t flicker on camera. There is a wide range of color adjustments and the software is easy to use. However, I had a lot of trouble trying to get it connected to my network using the phone app and eventually had to use my computer. That worked right away, no issues, and now I can control it from my phone, but it’s frustrating that I couldn’t just get it to work on my phone. I then set about attaching it to my desk and it comes with very nice, very sticky tape for that. I can’t speak to how well that will hold up over time, but it seems to be very nice so far.

However, the cable that connects the light strip to the power supply wasn’t connected very well. I carefully bent it so that it would come off at a right angle, as I have done many times in my electronics work, and that was enough to break it. I’m not sure if I just got a bad one where the soldering wasn’t up to snuff or if that is a more universal problem, but it does seem to me that the strain relief isn’t very good there. I went out of my way to be extra careful with my replacement unit and it is working fine, but I still think that is an area that Elgato needs to improve. Another improvement I’d like to see is some way to turn it on and off without a PC/phone or maybe Google Assistant/Alexa/Siri integration. It’s not the end of the world, but it seems like they assumed that only streamers would buy this light, so it’s less useful without the rest of their stuff.

If you cut off the shrink wrap you will see that the wire cable on the end is plugged into the same light strip that comes in the extension box. If you catch this on sale, or your strip is fine but need to replace the box/power brick, this can be a good alternative to importing the extension.

I’m very happy with the Elgato lightstrip, it does what it needs to be done. I had it bought with in mind i would using for my Twitch streams but knowing me I don’t stream that often anymore.. So now I’m using to light up my room 🙂

It has a nice brightness touch on it so it can light up a bedroom pretty decent with only a 2 meter strip, if you say hmm but i want it to be less brighter so to the darker side then that is also possible and it still gives enough lighting to see what you doing.

On webcams and other camera’s at recording or videocalls you don’t see the lights flickingering what it can happen with other strips so thats a plus size 🙂

It also has normal white LEDS so for warm white and cold white, those leds are seperate on the strip from the actually color LEDS.

I think its a downside that if you cut off a lane from the strip that you cant ever connect more to it so keep that in mind. Yes you can buy extension strips up to 10 meters but don’t cut off the end..

Also you cant have seperate colors on 1 strip / controller so if you looking for a rainbow effect then this is not your kind of strip. You can only choose 1 color at the time with a choice of 16 million colors.

It works great with the Elgato streamdeck and ofcourse controlling it with your pc / notebook is also very easy 🙂

If you see a great deal for the lightstrip and you thinking hmm but im not sure if i want it? Then i should say if the deal is great enough just go for it 🙂 (i bought it off from a lighting deal with 20 bucks off thats a great deal and i wasn’t 100% sure about if i would like it or not)

For the software it uses there is no need for filling in any login information it only needs access to your wifi network but the instruction manual should say how to set it up and there is enough youtube videos about it too 🙂 so that is also a good thing 🙂

For me it was deffentily worth every penny

    It works amazing!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to install. The sticky backside holds the LED strip in place. Can connect to Elgato control center to adjust colors, hue, and brightness. If you are a streamer these are compatible with Lumia stream. Have alerts trigger different light colors and patterns.

I like this light – until I figured a way to mount it to give indirect lighting, I was unsure of whether I was going to use it. Now I think it’s really good! I opted to mount it with gaffer’s tape every 20 inches or so

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSon las primeras luces led que compro.

Love everything about the lights except the software to control the actual light strips. (I ordered two). Have issues at time connecting/configuring the color+brightness due to the lights not being found. This happens on my Windows PC, iOS phone, iOS tablet and Android phone. Otherwise works great. Also could use a breathe pattern or the like to make it do more.

The light strip was way brighter then I thought it would be and lights my whole room up, really good. The only down side is the length, it isn’t very long.

Setting up the software was much harder than it should be. It just would not recognize my wifi at all. Overall its a really good product, but definitely not worth the price. For $60 there could at least be a power button.

My philips hue items were producing flicker or banding on video with a Sony A6000/A6400. You can try messing with frame rates and shutter speed to get the philips hue working… but I rather just buy this Elgato Light Strip!!

Works great for Streamers and Video Makers who want some RGB on camera.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDas Produkt macht einen sehr hochwertigen Eindruck.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI purchased 2 of these to use as lighting elements for my office to make my videos and work-from-home meetings more visually interesting, and to light the room when I don’t want to have a more direct light on. I bought them expecting to dislike them and want to return them — now I’m looking at investing in 3 more.

    PROS –
+1. They work! the light they produce is (fairly) even. This is even smoother if you’re mounting on the back of a bookshelf and bouncing off a surface like a wall and ESPECIALLY if you can get an inch or two of space between your bookshelf and the wall.
+2. They’re nice and long – the 2m length runs the length of my shelves and even wraps around a little bit. (I wish it was safer/easier to shorten them, but that could probably be said of most LED strips.)
+3. The app just freaking works* — I’m using Android. Once they’re connected*, the Control Center app on my phone (Android) allows me to make the lights separate colors, or control them together. That’s a REALLY big deal — not having to set each one individually saves a ton of time, and the app is VERY intuitive once you get the lights linked onto your WiFi.
+4. They’re NOT bluetooth — which means I don’t have to, say, disconnect from headphones to try to change my lighting! (Yong nuo I am looking right at you buddy.)

    CONS
-1. The price. Elgato stuff is pricey — but the catch is, the Control Center makes it worth it. (These are actually making me reconsider the Key Light, which I used to think were just horrifically expensive compared to the Yongnuo panels I have. Then I tried to control those Yong nuo panels with a bunch of 3rd-party apps and realized how big a deal app control really is.) I think the cost is offset by the fact that the app, again, works*.
-2. Connecting these to my WiFi wasn’t intuitive and was slightly problematic. Not sure why, but adding them to wifi from my phone didn’t work particularly well. Downloaded the Control Center app for Windows, and that turns out to be GLITCHY. It even seemed to make my wifi behave a little strangely — a reboot fixed it, but keep this in mind. (You only have to do this part once, though.)
-3. They’re not Bluetooth. They ARE wifi, so you can’t use these without a wifi network in place — so keep in mind that if your wifi goes down, you’re stuck with whatever lighting you had or manually unplugging them.
-4. No extenders are currently available (March 2021).
-5. There’s no way to add more distance between the control brick and the strip itself, so if your situation means having the little white box is going to be an issue, you can’t run a “blank” strip of wiring. Not necessary for me but something to be aware of.
-6 The power bricks on these are way bigger than you want them to be. Interchangeable power plugs are cool and all, but since I don’t intend to travel with these, it makes it convenient for Elgato — at the expense of the bricks taking up too many spots on my power strip. Again, nit-picky, but a real concern when considering whether or not to have *5* of these things in my office.

    THE VERDICT
Yes, I would recommend these to anyone willing to have a couple of minutes of patience during setup. Once they ARE set up, they work wonderfully and add a great visual element to videos or work-from-home meetings. App control is easy and actually pretty fun, and the fact that you can choose whether to link controls or use each one separately — and save presets for future reference — makes setting this up for video time a snap.

NOTE: I haven’t yet used the adhesive backing to attach these to my shelves.

Good, Smart, Simple, Great for accent lighting

I just installed them and it took a while to get synced up. I already have a Key Light so it made sense to get these lights for the background. Everything ended up working but the tape on the strip was not as sticky and the ends roll. So maybe before you install you let them sit unrolled for a while with a book on the ends.

Long term review will come too. I have not used them in a stream but will record something soon.

I have had a few rgb lights setups and these strips are a great fit for my setup they work on the same systems my key lights work in tied into stream deck makes working with it and other items at my desk seamless.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersYes, I know, the obvious response to this product is “too expensive!” and judgment befalls upon all who would dare purchase such a thing.

It’s not a bad argument. There’s a lot of other cheaper versions–indeed a lot cheaper–that cover a similar basic feature set. That’s not a review of the product to say that, though.

I work from home going on a few years now teaching graduate level courses online. I spend 1-4 hours on Zoom every workday, and record lecture videos and other tasks for online teaching and administrative work. I have the key light, key light air, and stream deck (12 button). Pricey, yes, but they entirely work. Over the years I’ve had the key lights and stream deck they have given me zero problems. They allow me to adjust my lighting in the midst of video calls and recording without fiddling with my phone. They keep wifi connections better than just about any other device I have. I can also control them with a phone app or pc app with ease.

Yes they are more expensive but they are high quality that can be depended on. I moved homes (and thus my office) and have built in cabinets above my desk. This light strip really seems designed for my use. Very simple to install and I found the tape to be more than adequate (though I had to be careful to peel off just the backing and not the whole tape. Turned on right away, connecting to wifi was extremely easy, and getting it onto the stream deck was just as easy. Everything just works, works well within the ecosystem, is dependable, and it’s bright enough to light up my desk for reading. Crazy amount of color options, of course, and easy to adjust in the app, both any color and any shade of white.

There are a lot of other LED light strips for cheaper and if you you’re just wanting effects or accents and not really looking to trust them or easy adjustment they are likely a better option. For me, and my needs, this made sense and I’m pleased to be able to control all my lighting from one dependable app and my dependable stream deck.
