FAQ
Can Floodlight Camera record 24/7?
No, Floodlight Camera records motion activated events. Floodlight Camera has a longer detection range and supports 10s pre-buffer to make the recording prompt and complete.
How does the 10s pre-buffer work?
Floodlight Camera stores a rolling 10s of footage. When it detects an event, it starts recording and adds the previous 10s to the beginning of the video.
Does Floodlight Camera support an activity zone?
Yes, Floodlight Camera supports up to 2 activity zones. Users can set the activity zone to exclude unnecessary event alerts or avoid recording non-priority areas.
Does Floodlight Camera connect to eufyCam HomeBase?
No, Floodlight Camera is a standalone product which connects to the user’s home Wi-Fi network.
Does Floodlight Camera support AI?
Yes, Floodlight Camera supports human detection; it can distinguish people from objects.
Does Floodlight Camera support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant?
Yes, Floodlight Camera supports Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant. Users can stream live video onto compatible Alexa or Google display devices with voice command, like “Alexa, show me the garage door” or “OK Google, show me the garage door on living room TV.”
What’s the capacity of the internal storage? Can I upgrade it?
We use eMMC for storage. Floodlight Camera has 4GB local storage built in for motion-triggered recordings. In the scenario of 30 video clips per day, 1min length per recording, the 4GB eMMC can store about 20 days of recordings.
What’s the wireless range of Floodlight Camera?
Floodlight Camera connects to home Wi-Fi. It works with any 2.4GHz wireless router, mesh system or modems. Depending on the user’s Wi-Fi transmission power, distance, and walls in between, the floodlight camera range varies. In our field tests in the US, it works well in most 3000sqft houses.
Note: This product’s name has been changed from “Floodlight Cam 1080p” to “eufy Floodlight Cam”.

Camera is a fantastic option for outdoor security. The resolution and 2500 lumens provide great clarity, and the built-in AI enhances the security features. The app is super easy to use. The weatherproof design and non-stop power ensure reliability, and the lack of monthly fees is a big plus. Installation was easy as long as outdoor power was already there, the inclusion weatherproof junction box helps. Highly recommended for anyone in need of outdoor security.
Good bright lights, easy to install and a very good price.
So pleased with this, I can watch from my phone anywhere in the world. Other members of my family recommended it and we are not disappointed
Coming from someone who isn’t great at DIY I found this camera easy to wire up and install. The app is slightly annoying with alerts all the time till I figured it out properly but that was mostly my fault. Very good produc
This item comes well packaged, all parts to fit and feels like quality .It has no subscription for the usage and was easy to set up with the App. It needs to reach a wi-fi signal so bear that in mind but you can turn the quality down for weaker signals. Its A.i can differentiate between humans and other types of movement or you can capture any movement. The lights are good but can look oddly placed at certain angles as they don’t move as fluidly as possible ( my beam spread is very wide ). It might seem expensive but quality often is.
I purchased this to replace a motion sensor light. Wiring was already in place. Good instructions and they include a hook to support the light fitting while completing the wiring.
Once connected setup was v easy and I thought I may have to install a wifi extender but it picked up my network with ease.
No subscription and great facility to review and converse with visitors. Have used it while abroad without difficulty.
Simple set up and installation, clear instructions for hardware and app which is very intuitive and easy to set up and use. Very impressed initially (time will tell)
The smart AI for identification needs improvement but overall a good product.
There’s a lot of choice out there. I wanted no subscription, decent resolution and a light. So far, all of it works well. The app isn’t perfect but it’s good enough and no major gripes.
Product arrived on time but not packaged in Amazon packaging as requested.
I wired a plug into my light to set it up indoors on the table and was surprised how easy the WiFi camera set up is.
I installed the device as per the instructions in my chosen location where there was an existing floodlight. Installation is straightforward and easy for any competent person.
What I don’t like, due to the bracket on the camera it would tilt down enough so I have an upside down picture on the app. Not the end of the world.
The other more important issue for me is you can only view live footage while your device is on the same WiFi as the camera. It would be better to be able to view from anywhere but bearing in mind there is no monthly subscription I guess this is probably why.
It would be difficult to identify a person on the play back, a bit fuzzy, also was disappointed with the one I received, as I think it had been used before, as it had brick dust on the back and the wires had been used before.
Installed today, very well made, strong construction, after installation the pic quality is excellent and so is the app, very easy to use and very good. No hidden costs or subscriptions which is real change these days. Excellent company. Highly recommend
This product is heavy. Spotlights are bright enough. Camera is good quality. Motion sensitivity had to be controlled with activity setting as it was going off all the time. App control is good to easily switch off. Let’s me watch back garden wildlife in real time, with decent zoom. Took existing floodlight down and replaced with this
Initially set this up on Vodafone automatic dual band (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) router. Never worked great. Then after about a month I spent a couple of hours messing around with it. Found an old TP Link power line range extender which operates only on 2.4Ghz. The camera’s performance immediately improved. So proximity to Wi-Fi and 2.4Ghz is essential to get the best from this floodlight. Also – don’t forget to remove the protective lens strip. I thought the night vision and sound was rubbish until I saw I hadn’t removed it doh.
+ Unit seems sturdy and well made
+ Floodlight is bright & adjustable
+ Daytime picture quality is good
+ Optional cloud subscription
+ Good deterrent
+ Original unit was faulty but Eufy had a great call centre and shipped replacement out within 48hrs
+ Nightvision excellent
+ Microphone is sensitive
+ Doesn’t miss much. We’ve seen lots of cats, foxes and a badger. We can see visitors & tradesmen coming and going. Very re-assuring to keep an eye open when away from the house. No criminals… yet.
– Frustrating set up. Should be simple but when it lost connection to live feed, it took a very long time to reset and set up again.
– Motion detection will fill your memory up quickly in windy weather
– Cloud may be optional but no SD card slot and only small internal memory
– Floodlight sensor has a short range though my unit is installed higher than 8′-12′ recommended height position (probably 20′ up)
+ Unit seems sturdy and well made
+ Floodlight is bright & adjustable

+ Good deterrent
+ Original unit was faulty but Eufy had a great call centre and shipped replacement out within 48hrs
– Nightvision is next to useless (see video example)
– Cloud may be optional but no SD card slot and only small internal memory – so just a marketing ploy?
– Floodlight sensor has a short range.
* My unit is installed higher than 8′-12′ recommended height position (probably 20′ up)
* Considering buying an IR floodlight to see if that resolves nightvision.
Covering our property front and back excellent picture quality pictures and notification of any movement around the property
Bought following a recommendation from a friend. Excellent piece of kit. Amazing quality easy set up. highly recommended
Installed this yesterday. The mounting is fine and the camera quality is excellent. However I was having a nightmare setting it up. Wouldn’t find the set up wifi from the camera. For over and hour I tried and tried. Then eureka. Used the greyed out QR code on the bottom of the camera and it alerted me to the fact my bluetooth was off. Clicked it on, 5 minutes later all up and running!!!! Save time and follow this advice!!
Easy to fit and connect. Took a while to pair with phone at first but once paired it has been fine. The light is bright I only need to set to minimum. The app is good, easy to understand and control the floodlight with. Local storage of footage good and can be deleted easily. Overall very happy with the product and would recommend.
Got this for my rear garden as the quality is good. The only thing that annoys me is the human detection just does not work! It picks up my closed parasol as a human and sometimes the corner of my covered bbq set, which has a tarpaulin cover as human.
Really like this product.
1) easy to install
2) looks well
3) great light
4) great camera (wide field of vision/clear picture day & night
5) excellent app
6) no subscription
Buy this , it is an excellent product. One of the best purchases I have ever made.
So good I got the eufy battery doorbell which works great too & from the same phone app.
Think only problem I had was scanning qr code. My Samsung phone wouldn’t recognise it but my iPad did. Plenty of videos about it on the net.
Took me 30 seconds to get this connected. works great. Picture quality is ‘Fine’. features work well – no issues. ! would recommend
Night vision is amazing and the sensor light brightens up a good area of our front garden ..I also like the variations, for example the siren and the brightness of the sensor light itself ..would highly recommend and I was fortunate enough to purchase this half price !!
Bought the floodlight and several 2k indoor cams to help keep an eye on my dads property with him living alone with dementia and carers coming and going. Motion alerts if he goes wondering off so various family could log in as guests. Because he lives remote have them all connected to a 4G dongle and no issues what so ever. Also record so when he has fallen can show carers and various safe guarding teams. Perfec
Great as it lights up the full back garden, camera is clear day and night, only problem is that the sensor is set of easily even when reduced to its lowest sensitivity as AI only works during daylight and all motion is on at night, when steam from central heating system comes on it sets it of even though it’s two mtrs away from sensor but overall very good.
A nice looking unit, many different scenarios available once the app is installed, lights are bright and camera is clear and zoomable. Essential to have a strong wi fi signal. Easy to set up before you install. Bought on a special offer so I’m pleased.
Ought mainly because I wanted a floodlight but figured I’d get a camera with it at the same time. Can’t really fault it. It does exactly what it says it will. Very easy to set up. Would be great to see a few minor tweaks to the software though to allow certain activity zones to be only active during specified times and to add integration into the homebase system to allow it to be used as a 24/7 security camera. If it had these small improvements then it would be easily s 5 star produc
Good quality video which records to internal hd on rolling overwrite. Still have over 2 months of recordings accessible completely free.
Only lost a star as can be slow to connect at times and needed a few reboots. Poor WiFi penetration through stone well.
Recently somebody suspicious was seen poking around in several of our neighbours gardens late at night and subsequently arrested (ha ha serves him right), which prompted me to get one of these.
I had previously bought a similar floodlight camera, but it absolutely refused to reliably connect to our WiFi, so reluctantly I sent it back and bought one of these instead. It duly arrived and I was somewhat apprehensive that this one may also not like our WiFi, but happily I was wrong. Rather than try to set up the camera whilst dangling precariously off a ladder, I fitted a plug temporarily on to the wire “tails” and plugged it in on the table. Thus I managed to easily get it connected to our WiFi and all set up before fixing it onto the wall, where it lives now. I then tottered around on a ladder and drilled the 3 holes for mounting the device, bunged some wall plugs in and screwed it to the wall. I then thought that I had got it all connected to a waterproof junction box, turned it on….. and absolutely nothing. (To spare myself too much embarrassment), It transpired that one of the leads was not properly shoved into the “chocolate block” connector, but when it eventually was, the floodlight / camera burst into life and all was well. I can watch it on my phone or an Amazon echo show and the camera image is excellent, an App allows you to set: sensitivity, floodlight brightness, zones, record time and a whole host of other things. It seems to be an absolutely excellent device, but if it subsequently explodes or goes mad, I will add to this review.
UPDATE: Having now had the floodlight camera for a while I had noticed that it was dropping the internet connection occasionally. However, since we have now installed a new super duper router with far more range, hopefully that is a thing on the past. One thing that would be useful is a timer to define a time range where the camera ignores triggers. We recently bad a BBQ in the garden and the camera recorded every moment of it, which was somewhat annoying. But it was very useful when it was getting dark to just ask Alexa to turn on the floodlight.
FURTHER UPDATE: Now with our “beefed up” WiFi, the connection to the camera is very stable. However it has been hot weather for a few days so we have been in the garden a lot and I noticed that the lights tend to start to come on at dusk, even when nobody is seen by the PIR sensor, then they go on and off for some time before eventually going off (well I think they go off, I have not sat up all night to watch them). I have the sensitivity on minimum, but I don’t want to annoy the neighbours with an involuntary disco light show.
Really like the product, only thing I would say about it is, the alerts can sometimes be a little slow. But still quicker than other systems. Had to upgrade to a WiFi mesh system to increase the coverage to pick up the camera ( 20ms from the base unit)
This camera has to be connected to the 2.4ghz channel on your Wi-Fi, the BT smart hub 2 will not allow you to split the channels and lock the devices so it constantly drops out and you cannot connect to the camera. Eufy customer service seem unaware of this issue and I’ve had to go back to running the older model hub with split channels. Otherwise now works well.
*update after several months* Motion detection is just inconsistent, it alerts me to people walking on the pavement 7m away from the light (outside the set activity zone) but sometimes I can walk within 2m of the camera before it picks me up.
Also for some reason the lights are activated but the camera is not on many occasions. Also now both my lights come on very dimly all the time its dark. All in all wouldn’t buy again.
Great bit of kit, loads of functionality, motion detection is excellent as is night camera etc. Only issue was mine wouldn’t connect to set itself up for nearly 2 weeks – it seems it only wants to connect to 2.4ghz WiFi bands so you may need to adjust your router to temporarily disable 5ghz bands during setup. Once I did this it connected in no time and has worked reliably ever since. Cheaper than the well know competitor, no monthly fees and better camera quality in my opinion, knocking off a star as setup issue could be difficulty for someone less tech savvy – customer service were diligent trying to helo but not overly helpful ultimately.
Works as it should, very good all round camera/ floodlight. Only reason I have knocked a star off is that I brought Eufy as I have the doorbell and the home hub but for some reason, this still stores to its own memory. The night vision and the recordings are very good but again seeing the motion detection zones isn’t as good other Eufy devices.
The camera works, and the floodlights are bright enough. Setting it up with the wifi was tricky, and required lots of experimentation with the app. The app did not work on my 5 year old Samsung phone, but did work after changing the settings on my wife’s two year old phone. It did require that I buy a wifi extender which was also tricky to set up. It does not capture every visitor to the front door for some reason, but most of the time it does capture people within the activation zone.
Installation is simple enough if you’re comfortable working with electrical cables.
The video quality is decent and the lights are bright enough for my back garden. The junction box is quite bulky but does the job.
Motion detection has been fine for me but I’ve set towards the lower end of the sensitivity.
My only real issue with the device is that the motion detection lighting does not seem to be in sync with the video capture events. The light regularly turns on for no apparent reason and no motion event is recorded. Ideally they would be in sync and every time the lights come on, a quick clip is captured showing why.
I bought and installed an Eufy doorbell and floodlight camera after neighbours reported having people interfering with cars. Within 2 days my floodlight camera recorded a person testing my car door on my drive. The video was provide to the police who identified the culprit. Having just heard that the culprit was charged, pleaded guilty and has been sentenced I feel the investment was worth while.
We got the eufy floodlight and camera. Easy to install if you’re happy getting up a ladder and doing some basic diy fixing and wiring connection. You need a power supply to the floodlight. The floodlight connects via our UK BT wifi and has been online continuously since we connected it. Happy with the floodlight and camera, coverage, image quality, sensitivity. The floodlight includes an app which lets you sound an alarm or talk to someone outside. It’s also very good to be able to receive an alert on your smartphone and respond straightaway from wherever you are. We’d previously bought a eufy 2k video doorbell – this is working perfectly too. We like the data privacy – your video capture stays with you not elsewhere in the cloud.
This product was purchased to give a little security for my mums property. While installing this product, I was so impressed, I started to think of how I would word a product review.
From unboxing to installing, it all looks and feels premium, yes, at the price you would expect that and it doesn’t dissapoint.
Installation is plain and simple with everything required to do the job. Connecting to WiFi was equally simple as was device set up.
All in all a 5 star product.
This camera and floodlight is a direct replacement for the more well known Ring model – the only difference in operation (I have had both, and the Ring became faulty quite quickly after purchase) is that this model doesn’t have a built in person v animal recognition setting which when it was working worked quite well in the Ring offering (a newer model is apparently on the way) – it also does not allow for irregular shaped detection areas, but this is not really an issue as you can select several rectangular areas, at the same time, that allow for any shape you would really need to cover anyway, the floodlight output seemed to be significantly brighter also (this can be adjusted to lower intensity if required in settings).
Their customer services responded to a query I made the same day and the company provide regular firmware updates, which is to me a promising sign.
All in all given the fact that this stores your video clips for free (no monthly charges) and the lower initial outlay, this is a no-brainer as its only real competitor – the Ring floodlight – has almost identical features (nothing extra that is a game changer for me) is much dearer and has a monthly charge.
One thing to bear in mind for either floodlight is that you will need a 240v power supply to run the item (they are not battery powered) the cable entry on each is to the rear (no side entry, without some modification), you will also need a good Wi-Fi signal at the intended fitting site as you will be streaming video from both cameras.
Absolutely brilliant. Plain and simple. Best security product on the market right now. Does everything we need and gives us peace of mind. Only negative is that it needs SMART MOTION DETECTION to prevent false alerts. Smart detection means it can recognise people or pets and differentiate to give more accurate and useful motion detection alerts. EUFY PLEASE PROVIDE SOFTWARE UPDATES TO ENABLE SMART MOTION DETECTION ASAP
Pros:
Good quality video
Good quality audio
Good quality night vision
Good detection range (even picks up the birds on the feeder)
Bright lights
Easy to setup and connect to.
No mandatory subscription (optional if you want cloud storage)
Cons:
Rear mounting plate has no factory side entry, however this can be corrected with a sharp HSS drill bit and appropriate sized sealing grommets
Camera and sensor bracket not straightforward to adjust and come preset with the camera mounted the wrong way with no depression beyond around -5 unlike the images. A quick Google identified that the manual has been rewritten and for some reason they have inadvertently removed a section on how to rotate the mounting ball for the sensor 180 so I need to get back up the ladder at the weekend to fine tune it.
Put simply, I bought one as a test for a few months. loved the quality, the way notifications can be tailored and the ease of installation. The outdoor light is bright and can easily be moved so it doesn’t bother others. The range of the Wifi reception is outstanding. I have a TP-Link M9 router separated by a pane of glass and 50m line of sight and it works perfectly. My other half loves the way you can turn the lights on remotely before you leave the house if you have to go outside in the dark.
An excellent product and I’m steadily replacing most of my outdoor PIR flood lights with this unit.
The app also works really well and no annoying subscriptions.
And finally, no, I haven’t been offered any free products – just good honest research after an initial trial purchase.
Top notch bit of kit. Floodlight is hardwired and I purchased this to replace a long defunct IR floodlight. Disconnected the old one and connected the existing cable to this one.
The camera and the floodlights are linked but distinct – if that makes sense. You can turn the camera off and leave the floodlight working and vice versa. Very good app to go alongside.
CCTV is recorded to an internal storage but transfer by Wi-Fi. You can also view live. Speaker and microphone built in.
Lighting (LED) is very powerful. Very flexible in how you can adjust the 2 floodlights.
Very good bit of kit.
I have this mounted on the front house wall looking across the front of the house and down the front drive.
It was very easy to mount and connect to the internet.
I like the brightness, which can be varied if needed and the quality of the colour images at night due to the floodlights is excellent.
I have played with the detection settings and have found that due to the 3 second buffer, I can afford to bring the detection area with inside my garden boundary but still see where somebody comes onto the property.
The only down side I have experienced is when the internet went down. I thought the camera had its own internal storage but even though there was still power to the camera, when I got the internet back on line, there were no events (there had been a lot of movement infant of the camera while the internet was down …. I have e-mailed Support so will hopefully get an answer soon).
This has been installed for a couple of months now. I was specifically looking for something which would connect to a 240V power supply, as I wanted it to replace an existing lamp at the front of the house. This was really easy to install and set up, and has worked well ever since. The lighting is super bright (the level can be configured in the app). Video quality is excellent, and there is no monthly subscription to pay if you want to view saved clips. The motion detection is configurable, but is not able to distinguish between humans and other movements (e.g. shadows of people walking outside the motion detection zone in the late afternoon). Other than that, the motion detection works well. So far it hasn’t dropped off the network either, which is a relief. Highly recommended.
I brought one of these to replace a faulty pir spotlight and instead of a ring doorbell.
These spotlights are well made and easy to install , the camera is very good and I have no complaints at all with the software.
It’s so good in fact I brought another to cover the rear garden of my house.
The night vision is so good it’s picked out some foxes that appear to be regular guests we never knew we had.
No subscription and footage easily download to my iPhone.
Simples!!!
This Camera is really good. But it has a really big flaw. The camera itself cannot be downward facing at any significant angle, when we installed we had to cut a piece of wood at an angle and fit that to the wall before then mounting the camera to the wood to allow us to get a half decent angle on the image.
No such problem when tilting it upwards, really is a poor oversight in the engineering of the product to limit the downward tilt so significantly.
From unboxing to watching myself on my phone it took 20 mins. Easy! Easy! Would highly recommend and not having to pay a monthly subscription and being cheaper then competition why would you not buy this camera! Notifications are quick and the app runs smoothly, no issues so fa
Had the unit a month now and finding It very reliable with virtually no false triggers and finding the storage more than adequate , after 1 month the storage only half full so much more than expected but this obviously depends on how many visitors you have .
No issues with internet connection or down loading images etc. The 3 second recording add on is a very good feature as it adds 3 seconds before trigger which means in reality You see someone before they enter the activation zone . Picture quality is good enough to recognise visitors , the voice and microphone also work surprisingly well. Overall would recommend
Did my research and decided to go for this Eufy camera over the Ring Floodlight. It’s considerably cheaper and the lights are also brighter.
Installation: Pretty easy to install (my estimate is 1 hour if you need to install into masonry). I used longer screws than the provided ones as they are quite short. They include screws and rawl plugs, I picked up Rawl Plugs + Screws + masonry drill bit for under 5 at Homebase (they sell a pack that includes all 3 parts).
Configuration: I’d give it 3/5 for setup. You have to go through the app which is fine but it takes about 15 mins to get connected if you are new to Eufy and need an account etc. The app also forces you to see screens about installation which are not required if you have read the quick-start quide included in the box (repetition).
Quality of Materials: The build quality of this product is on-par with an Apple product. It uses metal and glass for some of the casing and feels like a long-lasting product.
App: Once you have setup the app it’s pretty easy to use and connects pretty quickly to the camera (this will likely vary as per your internet connection). One slight annoyance is some adverts but the app in general is pretty good.
Lights: The lights are very very bright and complement the overall quality of the unit.
Camera: The camera records in 1080p which is crystal clear for a camera and unit of this size. The clips are stored in the device itself and you can download them if needed to your phone/tablet. It would be good to see some cloud storage options in the future including personal cloud upload options.
I give this camera an overall 4/5. I will recommend this product to friends/family.
First of all its actually quite a good looking light/camera. I was contemplating putting up a floodlight at the front of my garage overlooking the drive anyway to illuminate the driveway in the mornings and evenings in winter, so combining with a camera was a no brainer in my opinion. The lights are really bright and I actually have them set to their lowest setting.
Wiring it up and connecting it was dead easy and I have no issues there.
My two main issues are as follows:
The first issue is that it gets activated too easily. Heavy rain activates it. Its overlooking my driveway, if a car passes by on the road at night with its lights on, the headlight reflections off my car sets it off. Reducing the sensitivity to a point where it doesnt do this means a person can actually walk down the side of my property undetected. Having “person” detection would be a good thing here as you could put it in its highest sensitivity and would only be triggered by a person.
The second slight annoyance is that I also have some eufy cams with a homebase 2. But you have to set their detection/running setting separately either, if youre at home or away. I have also found that the geofencing function doesn’t work, as that would also overcome this problem also.
** May 2021 update after using this device for almost a year, and purchasing an additional one, I found that disabling the 5ghz frequency on my router resolved delays in the app opening and streaming. This is because this device, like most tech, still only works on the 2.4ghz frequency.
This is still a great bit of kit.
Had this floodlight camera for over a month now and it is excellent. Very good detection both day and night. Definitely a good alternative to another more expensive competitor and it doesn’t have the monthly charges forced on you, although I do like it that you have the option to you if that is something that you want.
Installation was easy, I was replacing an old standard halogen floodlight, the instructions were very easy to follow and setup wasn’t a problem.
The quality of the product is very good, definitely not cheap construction of the unit.
I am now planning to get another one to have complete coverage for the front and rear of my house.
In short. This is a great camera with fantastic quality and works so easily, loads of options for setting it up to suit how you want. The lights are super bright and so easy to adjust. Even better there are no monthly fees. Something people don’t mention about is how clear the audio quality is, it picks up my neighbour from 2 doors down wind chimes, normally I can’t hear them when I am standing where the camera is I have to be further down the street so it shows how much it picks up.
I did have an issue with the camera coming and it was faulty. I spoken to eufy support and I must say they were so helpful, even through the current covid 19 pandemic. They tried to fix it remotely but couldn’t, in the end they sent me out a new one with no issues and this one worked perfect as soon as it was plugged in.
Handy thing to note is it does not come with a wire or plug so it is best fitting the electric before. I wired up a plug to go into the junction box and works fine.
Really like this camera, from the easy to follow installation instructions, to the great app and features, this is a winner in my books.
Quality of the video is great beats my other security cameras (but this is my first wired camera).
Love that it captures 3 seconds before the motion starts, you don’t miss anything.
Now thinking of buying another for my back garden, just got to clear that one with the wife!
Well worth the money and would recommend.
Update to original review after 9 months
The unit developed a fault where the light would come on all the time and couldn’t stop it. (This was after a power cut to my house) Tried resetting and removing from the app but nothing worked. I contacted Eufy via email and had a very quick response asking for details and a short video of the issue. After a brief email conversation with them they agreed to replace my unit after sending back my faulty one and returned my postage costs. Whilst not ideal when things break they unfortunately do and can only applaud the company for dealing with this quickly. I am extremely happy with the light (and wireless cameras i purchased) I was expecting a battle to get this problem sorted but they have been excellent. Highly recommended product and business
Firstly, this was a breeze to install and set up. A lot of Youtube video’s suggest it is to replace an existing light and if not, you would need to purchase an outside junction box to fit it. Mine was a fresh fix to the side of my garden shed. The box contained everything, the only thing I had to purchase was cable and a plug as I was going to plug it in to a plug socket and not hard wire it.
Now for the issue.
Everything appeared to work fine, I could access the video files but could not get the camera to live stream. I could turn the lights on and off etc, simply could not get it to live stream. I had it connected to my home wifi through a wifi extender that was in my garage, only about 8 feet away. I have a Blink xt2 camera in my garage, also connected to my home wifi through the same extender. When I disconnected the Blink, I could still not get the Eufy to live stream.
I had a flash of inspiration and tried another extender, the same make and model. BINGO, no problem live streaming. Re connected the Blink and both working as expected. Just like blink, you need a relatively good wife connection to live stream, even though your recordings will still be saved regardless. With the blink, you can downscale the quality if you have connection issues, not ideal as you would want the best quality from a cctv camera or what’s the point? The quality settings of the Eufy cannot be changed.
The video quality is exceptional, far better than I thought. The night vision (with lights off) is also very good. The infra red light emitting from the camera, is so good it sheds loads of light for one of my other camera’s to see much clearer.
Everything you want from a floodlight CAMERA!
I have tried both the Ring & Swann Floodlight cameras, this is by far THE BEST!
Why…?
Installation, Set-up & App
– Easy installation, use the provided manual or it’s shown on the app, step by step.
– Set-up is using the EUFY Security App. Download the firmware update first, then the camera connected first time to my WiFi network (I do have 2 WiFi extenders in house)
– The App is very easy to use, adjust parameters and has a lot more settings to it that the Swan or RING app. Very intuitive to use.
Video Quality & Detection:
– The 1080p quality is spot on, good sharpness, colour and clarity. Both in daytime and colour Night mode.
– Detection can be adjusted on 5 levels but also the app has GeoFencing and Scheduling, which is very useful!
Build Quality:
– The unit is solid, equal quality to that of Ring and Swann Floodlight Cameras.
– Main differences are the lights are in a bigger housing, which I don’t prefer, but it’s a small price to pay for a better overall product.
– LED brightness can be adjusted and is equal to other brands.
Recording & Cloud:
– Built in memory to the unit (4GB) means a easing recording is fast and reliable.
– Free cloud recording and pay for more options, but in my opinion don’t need to.
Best desicion I’ve made! Very happy with my purchase, I will provide another update in a couple of months!
Wow, what an amazing product this is. I had electrician to install this for me, social distancing was maintained at all times.
I was amazed by the quality of this product and would 100% recommend it to anyone who are security minded and are looking for something to ensure their property is safe. The alarm is really loud and motion detection works a treat. I have to test few other things but so far this has won me over. 2500 lumens dual lights are very bright and the function where you can leave them on is use them as lights is amazing.
I have linked my account with Google Home, issue I have is I could only use them as lights and Google is not supporting camera features. Eufy please help
Good service , good company.
The first unit was installed by a professional. At my expense. But the lights did not work.
I contacted Eufy and their CS team were excellent they sent a replacement (as quickly as possible given Corona virus issues).
The second unit works fine (I installed myself).
The device is well built.
The set up to my phone was done in 2 mins.
So 5 stars because I think you can judge a company by how they manage issues and these guys did well.
I was looking at alternatives for floodlight camera that has no subscription model and came across this. Did some due diligence and tons of research before I committed and no regrets so far, very happy with it. Image is clear, straightforward installation, two way audio is fantastic and encrypted local storage. Having previously worked in the cyber security field and from what I have been reading with the flaws in Ring cameras makes this choice even better.. My next door neighbour has the Ring so it was close to side by side comparison. This Eufy one definitely is waaaay brighter and product quality is very good. I have this and Reolink NVR setup around the house. Just buy it, you won’t regret it. I’ll be buying the Eufy 2K doorbell camera as well once it’s available in Amazon.
Eufy Floodlight Camera.
Owner for 3 weeks.
This is the UK/EU version and so it comes with a white plastic mounting box. My only issue with the mount is there is only one entry and that is from the rear. I would have liked a side entry option as well, as that would suit me better.
Actual camera and floodlights … Floodlights are great and much better (brighter) than some others with the same supposed spec !
Motion PIR detection sets floodlights only when dark which again is better than others that ligh up day and night ??
Motion detection zones work and I have had almost no false triggers e.g. from wind movement. Car headlights outside the capture area do not trigger either.
I have set the detection level so that animals trigger as well as humans, so I can see what the local critters are up to.
Overall a great camera and floods.
More to follow …
Bought to install in back garden – The app by eufy is good the lights provide plenty light I’ve had to reduce to 35% and still sufficient to light area well. The image from the camera is not bad and colours are good.
My only gripe is it does not detect motion from the gate of the garden until you get to about 3 meters away and whole garden is max 7 meters but it managed to detect neighbours further back.
Thi means I get no light until half way down garden although as camera buffers 3 secs it will capture the person from gate forwards.
Even if motion not detected would be nice if light just turned on from further back.
I have linked it to Alexa and other works well with echo show.
I’m happy to support early product with hope it will improve over time.
I have two regular wireless EufyCams but, as they are battery powered, they only record when motion begins. I wanted to add something to make sure I captured every part of the movement.
We had a regular PIR floodlight out the front that was wired in, so it was ideal to replace it with this.
The install was easy, even for a relative electrical novice like me (although obviously if you’re not sure, get an electrician). Just cut the power off, wire in the junction box (simply connecting the wire to the terminal), and screw the box into the wall. Then you just wire the cam to this and screw it on. It was really easy to do if you already have the wiring there. Once done it looks really neat and feels secure.
The actual floodlight itself is very bright “white”, whiter than our previous floodlight, although I don’t think the light spreads quite as wide / far as the dedicated light did. Having two lights allows you to direct it, which is nice, and overall it is definitely bright enough.
The video quality is very good, even at night, and of course the lights allow you to view in ‘colour’ at night too. Even if the lights are off the infrared is good enough, although obviously not as crisp as during the day. I like that you can manually turn the lights on / off even if you’re just viewing it (no motion), or schedule the lights to come on anyway as a security feature. Two-way voice is good although in reality I don’t use this much.
My favourite feature by far is the rolling three-second buffer, so recording clips have three seconds before the motion began. This means, for example, you see people coming round the corner before they come onto your drive, and you can see their face and movement from the beginning. Ever since getting this cam it has become my go-to camera to check, and the wireless camera in the same area is just for backup.
The negatives for me are the storage space is “only” 4gb. As I have a HomeBase for my other cams I’d much prefer to be able to save the recordings to that (128gb micro SD). I think this might be coming in an update (?).
Additionally, the PIR range doesn’t seem to be extremely long (hence 4* for motion detection). For me this isn’t a huge problem as our drive isn’t much longer than a car and a half, and the PIR is able to cover the areas I want. If you have a long drive it might only trigger once they have begun to approach. Again, I believe Eufy is looking at ways to improve this with software updates.
Lastly, I had a problem with my camera in that it had a ticking sound audible on the recording. I contacted Eufy and they have replaced it with no trouble, and this hasn’t affected my impression of the camera at all.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this and would definitely recommend it, especially if you already have wiring in place as it is an easy fit.
Motion detection is a bit of an issue as I need to be about 13ft for it to activate on level 4 sensitivity which it has 5. So I leave it on 5 and I get about 30ft which is great, but even using the zones it does give a few false detections. The floodlights are excellent is a shame I have to be close for them to switch on when I walk from my garage to the back door. I do also have the eufy e cam which are excellent and a better picture and detection, can’t see why this won’t be rectified with an update. Obviously Wi-fi signal needs to be pretty good for better service I’m lucky enough to have 80mbs so no issue with camera quality. You can schedule the lights to come on when you like in the settings. Big miss is not having IQ for faces.
