… may even be the best tool I’ve got given it’s convenience and nature of work I’ve been doing.
I’m a pretend carpenter/joiner… much more in the spirit of enthusiastic DIY’er (who has mechanical skills – being an engineer), point being I cannot comment on the quality of this machine vs say a DeWalt or Makita. I can confirm that this mitre has done everything I have asked, from installing Vinyl (LVT) flooring, under staircase storage, lounge and dining room cabinets and some garden storage – (currently using it to build an outside garden office). It has survived and excelled at all of this so far. I haven’t had a moment when I have thought to myself, “ah, if only I had this”. Great value for money.
Accurate, easy to use. Great value for money. Used so many times now
Use,d this power saw before one of the reasons I bought it. It does every thing required
I bought this machine to lay a laminate floor and for some general carpentry. It immediately gave me the impression of robustness and cutting accuracy. My very first mitre joint was perfect! Thoroughly reccomend this machine
Having experienced various models and makes, I have to say this saw stands out a head and shoulders above the others.
Damn good value for money all round, Single multitype blade that does what it says, generally deserves a five star.
I was the best wife this Christmas, my husband loved this.
We are doing a big house project and my husband uses this daily.
Brilliant buy, nice and strong and sharp
Well worth the money, the laser makes cutting very accurate and easy. set up takes a while but that’s normal.
Excellent product worth the money and does exactly what it says on the ti
My first mitre saw. Love it, makes wood projects a dream.
Bought for a kitchen fit. But great for other diy projects. Lazer is real handy.
So easy to use and I now wish i had brought one years ago.
We have been so glad for having this, as our house has needed some major refit work – some we’re having done professionally, but in other areas we’re doing things like replacing skirting board, internal doors, door frames, and architrave ourselves. This is much quicker, easier and neater than trying to do some of the same jobs by hand using a mitre block. The saw is well made and solid, though not heavy. It arrives in need of a fair amount of assembly and (for those like me who haven’t used a mitre saw before) it takes a bit of getting used to all of the parts. The assembly and usage instructions are all in diagram form as well as having a written description, and a double-ended Allen key (needed for assembly and adjustment) is included. The diagrams are detailed, accurate – and a little on the small side. Collection bag takes in some of the mess created, but not by any means all of it.
Good build quality and accurate cutting angle. Adjusts nicely, with controls that move freely but remain fixed when set to the desired position. Blade holder articulates easily to give bevel cuts. Supplied with a single 20 tooth multi surface cutting blade suitable for use on wood, metal, and plastic. Cuts easily though timber, including some stuff with nails in that we had reclaimed (a bit of caution is needed here, as you do need to avoid galvanised metal), and plastic. Includes laser line guide.
Should have bought one years ago.Made various jobs including 5m x 5 m decking easy and a joy to do rather than a chore.
The saw is very easy to use and very good. A bargain for the price. Great purchase at a very good price
In all honesty this is a cracking mitre saw and it does exactly as described. It comes supplied with a multi material blade which is extremely handy. I have cut pallet wood with the odd nail in it and it does the job brilliantly. There are a few things that need to be assembled after unboxing with the Allen key that is provided. I also purchased the diamond cut blade and stand both are still pending delivery so I can’t review those yet. The only quibble I have is that it tends to blow out a lot of sawdust especially when you cut a lot on it.. The dust bag supplied isn’t great and it would be better to connect it up to a dust extractor or Hoover. All in all a great saw
As a DIY enthusiast (I’m not a trader or professional in any official manner) I jumped at the chance the review this saw. I’ve previously owned a mitre saw but without the sliding mechanism, which was bought at Homebase many years ago — that was some unknown brand, but I must admit I’d also not heard of Evolution before getting this.
Anyway, I’d clearly say this is for home use. The setup was a little laborious, but it’s been perfect once complete, and although the instruction were a little unclear it wasn’t actually that hard to figure out what to do. It’s proven, for me, to be a good all-rounder, cutting through the various wooden beams and occasional metal pipe at the angle required. The sliding mechanism feels smooth, as does the rotation, both secure without any sign of wobble. The blade that comes with the gear hasn’t failed me and the motor packs enough power; I’m not sure why I’d need anything more powerful.
I would also recommend buying the stand that suits this — the Evolution Mitre Saw Stand with Extension. The stand is lightweight but very sturdy when erected, and very compact when collapsed – perfect for sliding away when not required.
I’ve wanted a decent mitre saw for so long – literally about 5 years now. It’s one of those things that I knew that I’d use if I had it, but I kept telling myself I could get by without one. In the two weeks that I’ve owned this Evolution F210SMS I’ve already used it several times, once to replace a rotten section of decking and again to make a run for my kids Guinea Pigs. I’ve always meant to get round to replacing some of the old skirting boards in my Victorian Terrace and this tool seems to be perfectly designed for that job.
I didn’t think the instructions were great. They seemed to rely on either very small illustrations or large passages of text without any illustrations at all. I found myself looking at the larger colour pictures on the side of the box for confirmation of what they were trying to tell me. The one off assembly took about 20 minutes and really only involved attaching a few pieces using the supplied Allen Key (which has a handy storage place on the tool) and inserting the blade.
This is a really versatile tool and as I figure out its various functions I find myself thinking of even more things that I can do with it. You can basically use it as both a sliding saw where you push the saw through the wood or a chop saw where you lower the saw onto the wood. The mitre table can be turned through 50 degrees in either direction so you can easily make 45 degree mitre cuts. Even more impressive is that the whole head can tilt to the side for 45 degree bevel cutting or a combination of bevel and mitre cuts. Those tall Victorian skirting boards in my hall are going to be a breeze.
I’ve only used it outdoors so far. There is a clip on dust bag supplied, but on each occasions I’ve used it I still managed to create quite a bit of mess that didn’t end up in the bag. More successful is the laser guide which is a brilliant little helper that projects a red line onto your substrate so you know exactly where the blade is going to cut. So far I’ve only used the tool on solid wood, but the standard blade supplied can also be used to cut through all different types of wood product as well as wood with nails, plastics, aluminium and steel. A friend of mine from work has the same model and he’s been schooling me in all the things I can do with it. He has another blade which you can buy separately that allows you to cut through stone. Maybe one for the future.
My wife was always worried about safety when I said I wanted to get one these. Having seen me use it though, even my harshest critic seems confident that I’ll be OK. There’s a guard that automatically retracts as the blade engages which keeps your hands safe and also seems to stop a lot of dust and debris from coming in your general direction.
This is such a practical and straightforward product to use. Many jobs that I would have used a handsaw for before I can now do with this tool, quicker neater and with less effort than ever before. It’s also opened up a whole new range of jobs that I feel I am now able to tackle for the first time — knowing I’ll be able to achieve a quick and professional looking result.
I was no DIY enthusiast – DIY was because I couldn’t afford a tradesman. This is the first power saw I have ever owned although I’ve long wanted one for ease and accuracy.
Took care to read the instructions and assembled the saw – not daunting if take time and attention.
As I don’t immediately have any tasks, I used pieces of wood I have and gave it a go. Using in my garage and not outdoors on a mobile bench, I found it sensible to wear a mask and to also have my old Dyson turned on as close as possible to collect extraneous sawdust.
Accuracy was excellent – I would have loved this when I fitted new skirting rather than a jig and handsaw. At the price, it doesn’t break the bank – usually a negative if not doing lots of work (return on investment) but just need for a one-off job. But these days, we are replacing carpets with boards and redoing skirting more often so, if that is you, buy. It will improve your workmanship, save labour and probably cash on mistakes.
Very impressed with this saw for many reasons, the main being how accurate it is.
The second is just how easy it is to use, even for an amateur like me. The instructions are straightforward and explain exactly how to use it safely.
I also really like how the angle setter is very accurate.
5/5
This arrives partially assembled. I found it easy to put together and so easy to use. It’s so user friendly and cuts smoothly and accurately. Best used in the garden as it does create a lot of sawdust but that’s to be expected. I’ve only used it for wood so far but am planning on using it on other materials soon. Its fantastic at the price.
I do a lot of DIY jobs with my dad and this saw saves on time and effort and makes cutting a breeze. We have used it on loads of different jobs such as indoor flooring, mdf and decking.
The cutting edge is brilliant and efficient. It comes with a dust catcher bag which is handy but there is still a lot of dust and wood particles around so use proper protection and make sure the area is well ventilated.
It took me about half an hour to assemble the saw. I found it to be really precise and well adjusted right out of the box although there are instructions on how to check and correct alignment if necessary.
I used it to cut some multiple 45 degree angles on some oak. The results were very crisp and accurate. The saw cut through with absolutely no problems. All of the angles were accurate and easy to select and the smooth action helped to make cutting a pleasure.
I am saving up for the stand as I find the guide to be a little bit shorter than on my previous saw so it’s just a bit harder to hold the wood steady without one.
Aw man this thing is useful. All I had to my name before I got this was a garage full of rusty old hand saws that to be quite frank are a nuisance to use. I wanted to fix my mum’s bird table for her, which was going to require me to cut up a hefty length of wood in order to make a new base with angled supports. It would have taken me hours to do it with the hand saws, but with this bad boy I had the entire thing in pieces in minutes. And I’ve literally never used a power saw before. My point is, it’s crazy effective and crazy easy to put together and use.
This is a real cracker. I broke the housing of my last mitre saw and have been managing with a less than satisfactory item since. However, this is excellent. There’s a certain amount of assembly but the instructions are clear and it doesn’t take long. I have a stand already (from the broken one) so no need to invest in a new one and it’s perfect. The first thing I noticed was how smoothly the saw operates (maybe I was just used to a bad one!) and the safety guard makes sure you’re safe at all times.
There is a level of mess with sawdust, even if you’re using the bag to catch it all, so be careful and use it in a clear area. Make sure you use a facemask and safety glasses too. I like the blade that comes with it — it’s cut everything so far, even the odd nail — and there’s a range of blade types you can purchase. Overall this is a top machine and will do you proud. I consider the price to be good and the saw is certainly worth it. There’s a lot of more expensive machines on the market that are really no better.

This saw arrives partially disassembled meaning a few pieces for the owner/user to put together, however despite other reviewers opinions, I find Evolutions pictorial assembly guides very poor. The instructions supposedly guide you through assembly but it takes a fair time deciphering the drawings to be sure you’re doing it correctly and it is not the matter of moments some have said it is. Once it’s assembled though, it’s ready for use
I would recommend using this saw in a very well ventilated area. The reason being the large amount of airborne dust particles created by this saw (as with most circular types) when making lots of cuts
I found that, even with the dust bag fitted, there is still a lot of saw dust that goes absolutely everywhere. And of course you should always wear a particle mask and eye protection especially when cutting MDF (nasty stuff if you breathe it in)
With an extraction vacuum attached, matters are improved but there’s still a fair amount of inherent dust.
The cutting blade supplied with the saw is a bit of a general purpose affair but it cuts pretty much anything and everything you throw at it. Even using reclaimed timber (I use a lot of pallet wood) it chomps through any missed or broken nails without a hiccup.
Having owned an evolution sliding mitre/chop saw before, I would say that they are basically everything the company says and they are perfect for the home diy and woodworking enthusiast.
In use it’s easy to set up for different angles and cuts; the help of an in built laser guide line making it even easier to achieve more accurate results.
It has a trench cut facility, 230 mm slide, 0-45 degrees bevel and 50-50 degree mitre settings, covering all common cutting angles.
You can also purchase an optional diamond blade (sold separately) which enables you to cut stone, concrete, roof tiles and slate.
If you’re setting up a workshop and/or simply deciding on a new saw, it’s a must have, multirole saw for any woodwork project, and as I say, if you’re using reclaimed timber, the no-worries cutting through missed nails is a great benefit..
The price is also fairly unbeatable.
Having had one of these before they are perfect for the home diy enthusiasts, so easy to set up and use, cuts multiple angles with the help of a laser light and is very accurate, a must for any woodwork project, also cuts through nails and metals at a certain depth.
My father has used many saws and even had a previous model from Evolution. The general consensus with this one is that it’s much more accurate. The angle setter works perfectly. And for anyone not familiar with using this kind of saw the good news is it’s very easy to use. It only took about half an hour to set up too. It looks good and it works as well as it looks.
This arrives with a few parts to be put together, the instructions guide you through this process clearly and it takes a few minutes, it’s simple and easy and your saw is then ready for use.
I have the evolution stand for this saw and highly recommend getting one as it frees up where you can use the saw, making it much more mobile, it means that I can take this saw out of my shed and into the fresh air where I have much more space to work with larger pieces of wood.
The airborne sawdust created by lots of cuts is also another reason to use this saw in a well ventilated area as even with a bag on to catch it I have found there is a lot of saw dust that seems to go everywhere, I haven’t tried it with a vacuum on, but the bag has only collected around 30% of the sawdust I have made with the cuts.
The saw is excellent, it is easy and safe to use with a safety guard, which only exposes the blade as it cuts once lowered, and retracts as the saw is raised off the work piece.
The cutting blade that comes with the saw is a bit of a jack of all trades, it cuts pretty much everything you throw at it, I make garden furniture from recycled scaffold boards, this cuts the banding off the ends with no problem ( or sparks) and it has gone through the odd nail I have over looked without making a fuss.
The mitres have been good, they don’t have the pin point accuracy that a material specific blade would give me, but if I needed them to be that accurate and neat I could always buy a separate cutting disc for each material that delivers neater “dress” cuts that don’t require any sanding at all.
Price wise this can’t be beaten, it is easily as good as the more expensive saws I have used at work, but it costs much less, the fact that a blade is included is brilliant as you have everything you need in the box with no further outlay.
