Played a few games since I bought this, and I’m quite in love with it. There’s a bit of story-driven investigation as you explore a manor, some puzzles to solve, some combat and some looting. The game is quite atmospheric and I think succeeds beautifully at building up some tension. The presentation is quite nice, the game comes with a bunch of decent-quality miniatures I’m excited to butcher with my absence of painting skills.
It comes with a rules booklet and a “learn to play” booklet – I feel like every game needs one of those. Unfortunately, the latter lacks some fairly basic information in places. It’s not awful by any means, but it will leave you searching around for stuff as you scramble to learn the basics of the game. Still, I suppose it’s not too bad: after 2 games played, we all felt like we had a good grip on the rules.
I was a bit averse to buying a game this expensive not having played it before or knowing anyone who did, but I’m loving it!
As somebody just stepping into the world of tabletop gaming, I cannot emphasise just how much I am enjoying all aspects of this particular title: creating new maps, placing tiles and tokens, rolling dice based on your character’s qualities, desperately trying to escape danger it’s immediately immersive and very satisfying.
Getting to grips with the technical aspects is easy enough – beating the game not so much. But this is why I bought it.
The app is excellent and there is scope for further improvements.
I managed to grab a deal at 53. Don’t see it lowering much more. However, I can honestly say that if you are a fan of this genre in any way, shape or form, do not be put off by the price tag. A fantastic addition to any collection.
Really like the concept and app is a lifesaver. Limited number of in app puzzles. Should be at least 20 or 30 rather than 3 or 4.

Lo hemos jugado muchas horas, es genial, por mucho una de las mejores compras en juegos de mesa que podramos haber hecho. Tiene muchas reglas, pero son fciles de aprender, la aplicacin es intuitiva, fcil de usar y excelente. Si buscas un juego de mesa largo, emocionante, que de verdad genera suspenso y que podrs rejugar bastante, recomiendo este al 100%. Si bien las historias solo las puedes “jugar una vez” con las sorpresas y los plot twists, es muy divertido revisitar los escenarios en especial con amigos nuevos. Las expansiones son buenas, pero incluso con el juego base tendrs unas buenas horas de diversin.
Lo unico malo es que la caja es de carton muy delgado comparada con las expansiones hermanas, pero es genial

Bought this for my birthday. Figures and pieces are amazing. App makes it easy to play!
The reason this is not 5 stars is because it’s missing a small stand for one of the monster figures. You pay almost $100 for a game, the pieces should all be there. I went to the manufacturer’s website and they won’t send replacement pieces. Instead, you have to return your game and exchange for a new one. Incredibly inconvenient when you’ve already have most of the pieces and everything put together.
Aside from that, the game is a ton of fun and has great stories to follow. Played a round by myself and it was still a blast. Highly recommend for any Lovecraft fan and still think it would be fun and horrifying for people unfamiliar with Lovecraft.

Not the easiest game to learn, but so much fun! Once you play a couple of times it does get easier. We love it and it takes us at least an hour to get through which makes it worthwhile. I’ll definitely purchase the expansion packs!
No idea why the review categories for this game are “thickness’ and “sheerness” but never mind.
The game is a lot of fun. It is a cross between the dice rolls and stat checks from Eldritch horror, but crossed with a sort of escape room game where you have to solve puzzles and investigate the mystery. Also the general atmosphere the game creates is brilliant
I haven’t bought any expansions yet but the base game alone is worth the price tag with the starting 4 scenarios and the ability to buy 3 more just as paid DLC for a few .
The scenarios have low replayability due to the mystery solving nature, but each will take several hours and all are a lot of fun. A good game to lend to friends once you’ve played through all the campaigns!
Also the models are very good quality although 1 or 2 were slightly broken for me
This game took a little bit to learn, but immediately cemented its spot as my all-time favorite board game. I love the way you move through tiles and investigate things using the app. Yes, it’s expensive, but the quality of the pieces is so great. There are multiple expansions out for the game which I fully intend to buy all of them in time. I love love love this game!

There is a bit of a learning curve if you have never played cooperative strategy games before. First time players, spend some time getting familiar with the rules. Once you’re familiarized, the game moves pretty quick! It really is crucial to have the App when playing the game – use a device that is mobile (passed from player to player) has good sound amplification (to set the mood) and a large screen (for selecting options).

Great game, just wish there was more scenarios for base game
All items of this game are superbly made down to artwork, printing and ‘feel’ of items. The game plays well as a solo game as well as for groups and the app with many choices of decieion to make makes the game eminently replayable.
This game kept the family entertained for hours on end. Really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to families that enjoy games together.
Very nice set it comes with everything mentioned and would make a great gift to anyone who’s into the Cthulhu mythos.

This figure on the left has a broken arm, and the figure on the right don’t even have a head. It’s suck after because I have waiting for this a long time to arrive. I will rate 5 stars if this get fixed.
This game is amazing. The app help to install a strong atmosphere of thrill and horror. And for those who ask for the replayability, i ve played 5 times the first scenario now and it’s still immersive and intense, cause the map tiles change, there are new monsters every time and even the mission change sometimes. The last time i did it was the best. So, always surprising.
This is a very enjoyable game. I’m still learning the rules as I play thru this and home to get my wife to join in. There is a lot to assemble and put away when done. I downloaded the Mansion of Madness app from Steam for free. They do sell 3 DLC expansions which give a LOT of game options and variety to this one game for repeat playability.
So it requiring an application to use and some of the adventures gated behind a paywall isnt a great look on a 100 game but it is honestly pretty fu

Great product, very good quality tokens and game pieces with a nice amount of detail. Easy to learn game instructions and helpful app to guide you along the story.
This game is great! It’s almost like having an escape room in your home! I suggest using a tablet for game play as a phone would be too small for all players to enjoy and interact with. It is very easy to learn and is basically self explanatory. The cards are great quality and the artwork is nice! Only downside is the miniatures do not fit on the base very well and fall off frequently. Other than that, fun and interactive.
I was skeptical at first because of the price tag, but decided on buying it anyway. I am glad I did. To briefly summon it up: it’s like Scooby Doo for adults, and very unsettling in the best way possible!
Minis are detailed AF.
All the pieces, cards, tiles, are awesome quality. Not cheap.
App integration is surprisingly easy, straightforward, and immersive.
All in all, 10/10 would recommend.
I have been playing MoM since 1st edition and they never fail to please with the quality and fun with each new expansion.

My partner and I sunk about 10 hours into this game on the first day! It is very fun. Sort of D&D lite, but still complex and involving a good amount of choice-and-consequence. My only quibble is that there are *not* 22 scenarios included in the price. There are 4 scenarios that come with the game, and then a few you can buy on the app for $5 each, and then even more that involve buying more physical products. For $90, you’d think they would include a few more scenarios! There is some replay value, but it’s less fun when you already know the plot.
This game was everything that I had expected and more. Fun and challenging!
Great game, need a lot of time to sit down and commit to play a game. We’ve found it quite challenging, especially when someone goes “insane” and ends up with an alternate win condition. Have yet to beat any of the storylines.
This game has to be played with the app since the app controls the npcs and the mythos (monster) phase. The game brings a bunch of scenarios which will keep you busy for a long time, plus you can save your progress in the app if you need to take a break from playing. Amazing game, the only bad thing is that if you are a collectionist, you’ll have big trouble finding recurring nightmares and suppressed memories to add to the collection.

This game grows on you. It crawls into your brain and rolls around for a while. What could we have done differently? How should we have played that one encounter? What is the best starting lineup?
Excellent family game for families with teenagers. Lots of fun. Excellent theme. And unlike many games that utilize apps, this app really adds quite a bit to the experience. The app is sort of a DM for the game, which is really cool way of doing things.
This game looks very complex however when you get going it is actually not too bad. Have a quick read of the rules and then away you go. The app works well with the game and keeps it flowing. On a negative note though the figures are not brilliantly made and are flimsy plastic which bend and would break without much force. That aside and keeping them safe it is fine. A must buy for anyone after a good RPG
The gameplay was great. The new investigators added much needed spice to the core game. My eleven year old son was able to learn the new bits very easily.

Nice game. Quick delivery. A bit on the expensive side. But worth the price. The game has a good build quality. Needs a lot of patience if playing for the first time.
It’s a brilliant horror/mystery board game to play with your friends. Initially, I’m kinda scared by the price tag, 100 bucks are really not cheap for a BG. I personally am a huge board game fan and owned many Fantasy Flight Games so I decided to try it out. And after playing it for extensive times with my friends, I can confidently say that it is truly worth buying. Not only me but also my friends who never played this type of BG (they do like playing poker and Monopoly, etc.) are now begging me for more.
The best part of the game is the scenarios. Some of them are story-based, some of them focus more on strategy and some of them require your party to solve a mystery … you can experience many play styles in this game and never get bored. Normally this type of BG has very complex rules that will scare many people off, but luckily this game comes with an app that you can use which reduces the complexity a lot. So as long as one of the player spend some time read the rules and follow the app instruction, everyone else can just go with him with minimal efforts. The only thing that might bother you is the length of the game – most scenarios require around 2-3 hours to finish and some very long ones can take up to 6 hours.
Overall I highly recommend this game. Gather some friends, grab some beer and enjoy your board game night!

Expect somewhat of a learning curve, but it is well worth it! This game is amazing, immersive, and great for getting friends together. I love the variation in how you can run each scenario. It’s a top game for our board game group and is a must have for all collections.
It’s pretty hard and it has a really long set up and tear down and there are a couple rules that pop up that I have to refer to the manual to remember how they affect gameplay. Otherwise an extremely immersive and addicting experience set in the Lovecraft universe, it really couldn’t be a cooler theme.
On the pricey side, but an amazing game. After playing through once you get the hang of it. The app helps guide you along so it is very easy to follow.
Great game, scenarios change when played multiple times making it different each time. Have time estimates are much shorter than actual play time but otherwise we love it.
The companion app is amazing and helps out a ton with learning. However, but sure to read the rules carefully especially regarding movement so that you don’t handicap yourself.
This game is fun and lasts anywhere from an hour to three so far. We have yet to finish a campaign because my husband keeps dying. If an investigator dies you can’t complete the mission. We’ve done two so far. It’s still fun. Eventhough we have played the same campaign the story hadn’t been the same because the choices seem to change the outcome.
I loved the first edition but that was a pain to set up. The second edition’s make set up a breeze!
And let’s you play solo, which I’ve done and had a blast.

First of all, this isn’t a criticism of Amazon, Amazon have handled this issue very well, but I would like to mention that similar to other reviews, I have also experienced poor quality control issues.
The key issue is that one of the plastic monsters was missing from the box. Unfortunately, Amazon is currently unable to provide missing pieces so would require the entire box (it’s hefty) to be sent back in order to provide the new one which unfortunately is still likely to have quality control issues. I was reluctant to do this, especially when the game is playable without the Ghost (there are two monsters, one was already provided, one was missing). Amazon were kind enough to provide a discounted price as a result, and I am now in contact with Fantasy Flight Games to get the piece replaced directly by the supplier (who presumably will be able to send a piece direct rather than reshipping the entire game (did I mention it was hefty).
I also discovered that the different decks for the games had been jumbled up in two separate packs within the box. I’m really not sure how that was even able to happen, but it did take a while to sort through them all and then count them to make sure nothing had been missed.
It’s not major, but it’s just disappointing to see a lack of good quality control going into such a premium product. I would advise that any future buyers check through the contents as soon as they get the box and to count off the contents against the inventory.

i bought this for my husbands birthday, and i buy him a board game every birthday. we have game nights often and my friends and husband absolutely LOVED this game. it’s so fun and has so much potential for more storylines. not a single dull moment. so fun. became a game night favourite fast.
Great board game to do solo playing and with friends or family. It works with a companion app that makes the game more interactive and fun. The game will require sometime and tries to fully understand the gameplay, but i. The end it is a lot of fun. Aslo this games has expansions available that uses the same app by just enabling them.
A story you and friends can get involved in without having to spend hours DM’ing and creating a story yourself. High learning curve but once you get the hang of it you’re set.
I’ve bought this for myself, my sister, my brother-in-law. Everyone that comes to our houses and plays with us loves this! Its a bit pricey, but oh so worth it! The mobile app is like having your own Dungeon Master, and it changes up the scenario enough to feel different every time you run the same scenario again. Its great!

Great game with a lot of cool stuff. The only negative for me is that I received a 3rd monster platform for the riot mob instead of a second platform for the Star Spawn mob.
I really like the creativity and story telling incorporated in the Mansions of Madness 2nd Edition world. We enjoy the iPad integrated “Keeper” role and well-done graphics. “Mansions” is a board game that leads players through the adventure with a mobile app.
My friends and family love the adventures of cosmic horror intrigue and mystery, but we don’t have time to build our own and appreciate this Fantasy Flight alternatives.
This is not just one game, but a portal for many games. The basic set gives a few great introductory storylines, with a few in-app-purchase options using the core game pieces. Each adventure is very challenging and can unfold in myriad threads, so each can enjoyably be played multiple times.
These adventures are challenging and can be difficult to win, so with each replay the players learn new strategies and aspects of the game that make it even more fun. The game balance is appropriate for the “Mansions world”, where humans are fragile creatures in the face of ancient threats.
Downsides include a lot of moving pieces, so at least one player needs to organize and manage the game board and game pieces, configured to give players the situational awareness during play.

Played this for the first time recently and I found it quite easy to pick up with the help of a youtube video and had so much fun. I was actually scared and kept jumping at the app when a new scenario was happening. My friend loved the game and took a lot of joy from me being a scardey cat. There are so many games it will not get old any time soon!
So immersive. Get ready to lose track of time for 3-4 hours at a time. Never slow. Never boring. By far my favorite board game.

This is my all-time favorite board game. The first edition was really solid, but the second is SO much better. The app-based version makes the game easier to learn, set up, and provides a bit more mystery to the game. An overall high quality experience.
The only downside I’ve encountered is that figures and cards don’t sit very firmly in the base and tend to just cause a big mess in the bottom of the box.
But overall it’s a very enjoyable game that I’d recommend to any tabletop gamer and horror enthusiast!

My favorite thing about this game is not only is the gameplay never the same but how easy it was to pick up. I didn’t have to google anything if I had any questions they were all answered with what the game provided. It’s extremely immersive and the different style of playing with an app and a board is amazing and done so well. Looking forward to buying the expansions!!

Gave this game a go with my 5-person gaming group. The app works really well at guiding players through the game, and makes learning the game fairly easy. Many of of the rules come down to “when X happens, follow the instructions that the app gives you.” The map-boards are beautiful as well as sturdy. The miniatures don’t have the best detail, but they certainly get the job done; when a Star Spawn is bearing down on your investigators, you will be afraid!
The game itself is a lot of fun. Basically, your group of investigators move through a location, revealing new map tiles and other clues along the way, and occasionally horrifying monsters. There is a pervasive sense of dread that persists throughout the game, punctuated by nice musical stings from the app. It’s not an easy game; we managed to win our first game by the skin of our teeth.
Final analysis, I will be spending a lot of time playing this game, and have already started picking up the expansions!
