This is great fun for all ages. Would recommend to all.
Got this for my 14 year old grandson. As a beginner he took to it like a duck to water. Great videos, distance etc. Follow the set up instructions gps etc no issues.
Got as a beginner drone, handles well in moderate wind, good camera, with auto return on low battery and loss of signal only way of losing it is crashing.
I followed all instructions step by step , downloaded the app but still couldn’t make it work. Drone itself is very light and looks nicely built.
The drone comes in a decent box that keeps each part well protected and safe.
AAA batteries are required but that’s easy to deal with.
You need to download and app to use it and to pair, but it’s not too difficult to do.
It’s important to be aware that in the U.K. you need to get a license in order to operate a drone. You must register with the CAA to get an operator’s ID because it has a camera on it . You must attach this ID to the drone.
All good fun to use and the whole family enjoy it.
Really good starter drone, relatively easy to use but does have some complex things to get your head around but the more you use it the easier it gets. Easy to fly and the image quality is good.
What you get in the box is straight forward; apart from the batteries no real construction is required to get this ready to go. The remote-control unit requires 4 x AAA batteries. Its battery compartment lid is screwed on and the provided screwdriver (which is probably aimed more at replacing blades) was not effective to undo it. I needed a different screwdriver for this.
You get two rechargeable batteries for the drone each with its own recharging lead so the first thing I did was to get these both charged up. Lights on the battery let you know charging status. Other than the batteries you just need to fold out the four propeller arms away from the body.
There is an instruction leaflet provided that provides a lot of information which it is worth looking at in detail to familiarise yourself with it as there is a lot to it. At the start there are general points about where to fly the drone which are worth noting. There are several stages required before the drone is ready to fly the completion of each one is marked by changing LED lighting on the drone or audible signals. I did not find this totally intuitive, and it took a while to work these through. The main stages are: pairing the controller with the drone, calibrating the compass and calibrating the gyro (GPS searching I think the drone does on its own). There is a phone app that allows you to manage photo taking amongst other things but I did not get this set up for the first flight and I still need to investigate this part of it.
One the preliminary stages were complete I operated the controls to start the propellers and was impressed that they started up. I then pressed the take-off buttons, and the drone did not rise and after a few seconds the propellers stopped. After a few goes I tried the up control immediately after pressing the take-off button and up she went to a very reasonable height. Once there I was not sure what to do as I could not use the camera functionality and I had not checked how to steer the drone in the instructions. Instead, after a minute or so, I moved the control to bring the drone down and it descended very close to the take-off point. This was enough for the first flight, and it is clear to me that there is a lot to investigate for the next drone flight.
First impressions are that this is a very capable device, and I will update the review when I have more experience with it. I do think that you do need to set aside a bit of time to use it. Having two rechargeable batteries extends the time you can use the drone as you probably want to go to an open space to use it and may not be able to recharge there. Spare propeller blades are provided in case the fitted ones are damaged.
Review for Foldable GPS Drone with 4K UHD Camera for Adults, Quadcopter with Brushless Motor, Auto Return Home, Follow Me, 45 Minutes Flight Time, Long Control Range
Having owned a few drones over the past few years, I always love testing the capabilities of new models. My previous one was of a similar design, however had a lower resolution camera. The drone is fully foldable and using the packagaing you You can use the packaging to transport install the drone easily. This does Make a difference as you’re not having to assemble/disassemble everything when you want to fly the drone which is which can be a real hassle.
The package comes with two decent capacity batteries which indicates 45 minutes flight time, whilst testing I got about 40 minutes total out of the pair. The modular battery design means they can simply be pulled out and plugged in for charging using supplied charging cables. I keep a power bank with me when I’m out to recharge the batteries and allow me to make more of a day of it than saving a trip home. What I like about this package is the drone as well as the control all fold up quite neatly and can be put back into the box quickly and taken out for a quick flying session. This drone features GPS for convenience so allowing the return home functions and also signal is lost it manages to locate it so back all the battery is low managed to locate itself back to its lost a point of origin.
The main camera is a 4K camera giving you HD quality video which in conjunction with the accompanying smart phone app can be used to both control filming as well as controlling me the actual flight of the drone it’s self. The 4K camera can also be tilted Remotely to allow more controlled Ariel filming.
One of the nice features is it has a headless mode, ideal for beginners as it allows you to concentrate the directions of controls rather than which way the drone is facing, which can be a point of confusion for beginners. The main remote control features a secure mounting point for any suitable smart phone. The drone can be controlled solely using the remote control, however the accompanying app gives so much more possibility. A few spare rotors are provided as Inevitably some of them will become damaged during flight or landing, and are easily replaceable. The drone features a number of different configurable flight modes such as follow me as well as custom flight paths, however I have not fully explored these and just concentrating on improving my basic flying. Overall a good compact and convenient drone package which works well once configured and won’t break the bank.
You will need some AAA batteries to get yourself started as these are not supplied. Do you need a screwdriver to be able to access the battery compartment and handily they include one for you which is a nice touch. However you do get a couple of rechargeable batteries which is excellent as you can be charging one by using the other. Also get spare blades which is very much appreciated too. Need to download the app in addition to connecting the drone to your phones Wi-Fi to get the functionality of the camera. Downloading the app is easy enough to do onto my phone from Apple’s App Store. I had no problems with connecting the drone to the app. Pairing went very smoothly. We are relatively novices when it comes to drones and the learning curve here was pretty steep but I have to see as a first-run it is pretty decent and certainly one to consider at this price range. Flight time is pretty decent the return to home feature is appreciated for us. We also were pretty happy with the camera and the quality received. No major issues for us and we’ve been happy with it so far.
This drone is very good. It came well packaged in dense foam that is quite durable and holds everything perfectly in place. This also makes the box it comes in great for storing it and keeping all the pieces together.
Included are two batteries as well as two usb leads to charge them with. This is great as it means you can fly the drone for longer and if you are near power, you can charge one whilst using the other meaning you can pretty much fly for as long as you want. It also comes with a set of replacement propeller blades which are nice to have. One thing I wish they had included was the AAA batteries required to power the controller as this meant I had to go out and buy some before I could start flying.
Before flying, I would highly recommend reading the instructions as it is a bit confusing to get started with and isn’t just pick up the controller and start flying as with other cheaper drones I have used.
In order to fly, it needs to connect to a satellite which means that you can not fly indoors.
Once the drone had connected, I first tried to fly it using the app. I could find very little information on how to control it using the app so I just connected it and started playing around. I pressed the take off button and the drone started flying up vertically. I could not figure out how to move the drone so instead I tried to land it again. I tried several attempts at pressing the land button and nothing happened except the drone continued to rise up vertically getting further and further away. Finally I pressed the return home button and fortunately it began to land. Despite this, the drone held up quite well, the day was quite windy and it still managed to rise up vertically and come back down landing in almost exactly the same place.
After this, I decided to use the controller for future flying. I tried to just take off with the controller at first but nothing happened. It turns out that you need to pull both the joysticks down and into the corner to start the drone which is something I have not encountered before. Finally, I was flying the drone around my garden using the controller.
The first few flights, I inevitably crashed into some things around my garden. A couple times I thought the drone had broke as it wouldn’t turned on however it turns out the battery had popped out of its socket. I then pushed the battery back in and it carried on working fine again. I was very impressed with how durable the drone was as some of the crashes were quite hard and yet they had no noticeable impact. The battery compartment is a good idea as it is super easy to slide the battery in and out allowing you to quickly swap the battery however as I explained, it does mean the battery can pop out. Once you have learned to fly though, it should be fine as you will crash less often.
Overall, I was very impressed with how well the drone stayed stable in the air. The day I used this was quite windy and when I didn’t move the joysticks, it stayed almost exactly the same place in the air. Despite the app which I think could do with some fine tuning, I would definitely recommend this drone to beginners.
The built quality is good. The drone looks beautiful. Foldable design, very small in size and great for portability. Lightweight for easily carrying it around. A good drone for beginners.
All great but I must say that the process to make it fly is a bit complicated. Though, it came with instructions set which was helpful. The remote has no batteries and requires 4 AAA cells. For the main unit, also included an extra battery in the box. Flight time is around 20 mins on a single charge. Photos and videos have decent quality.
Arrived well-packaged as shown in the attached photos.
The price is ok for such professional drones in my opinion.
Overall, I am happy to own it.
The short version of this review is that YES, it works if you follow the directions!
Some people have commented that it was impossible to use due to the app being in Chinese. That was not the case for me. I can confirm the app IS, in fact, in English and relatively easy to use. It’s possible that the app which is directly linked in the directions is the thing causing the problem so I recommend checking the Apple or Google Play stores directly and doing a search for Q1 GPS.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
=============
This product contains a set of spare propellers, 2 drone batteries, a screwdriver, the remote control and the drone itself, and of course, directions. It was well packaged and nestled in polystyrene.
The remote control requires four triple A batteries which are not included. The battery compartment for the remote control is located in an area at the bottom of the controller which must be accessed by opening the screw in a screwdriver is provided.
The (included) batteries for the drone itself require about 3 hours to charge. They will flash alternating red and green until fully charged. At that point, they will go solid green. They will give you about 22 minutes of flight time each. Although there are two batteries for the drone you can only install one at a time. Because you have to charge the drone batteries, it is not possible to just take the drone out of the box and immediately start to use it. (It’s recommended that if you’re not planning to use the drone for a while you should take the batteries out of the drone and also out of the remote control.)
The phone holder on the remote control will not work if you have a larger mobile phone in a case. You may have to take your phone out of the case in order for it to fit.
MAKING IT WORK
=============
The directions are straightforward and fairly easy to understand, even for a novice drone flyer.
Once the drone batteries are fully charged, simply insert one in the back of the drone and push in, then press the on/off button for three (3) seconds to power up the drone. Place the drone on a level surface with the head forward. The drone’s LEDs should flash; at that point turn on the controller and you should hear a beep. The green light on the front arm should go from flashing to solid and the red lights on the rear arms will keep flashing indicating that the controller and the drone is now paired. Simply follow the directions for pairing, connecting the app, and calibrating the GPS and Gyro.
It’s important to note that the drone needs to be placed on a level surface or won’t pair with the controller.
There are quite a lot of steps to setting this up and getting it to work but this isn’t just a toy, even though it is technically classed as one. Once everything is calibrated, you’re ready to fly.
It has the Return to Home feature, and also has a Fail Safe and low battery RTH features. It has a follow-me and Point Of Interest/waypoint function.
Drone weight: 219 grams
Flight time: 22 minutes per battery
Max flight distance: 500m
PROS AND CONS
=============
Long flight time with two batteries
Good quality (4K) photos and video
Has a Return to Home feature
Has fail safe and low battery RTH
Has POI and Waypoint functions
Weighs just 219grams
Great first drone
The drone only holds one battery, so you need to RTH to change the battery.
There is a definite learning curve if you’ve never operated a drone.
The phone holder will not work if you have a larger phone in a case
I hope you find these comments helpful. 🙂
