Used a few times and works very well. This is a first time for me and although have found mainly rubbish it is fun and is easy to use. Seems well put together and the instruction video is useful.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI love this detector. If you are new to the hobbie and serious this is a perfect purchase. I would have loved to get the AT PRO but couldn’t justify the extra. Plenty for the newbie to learn and just enough to keep a pro enticed. Highly recommended but make sure you have a pin pointer as well, saves lots of time.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe other day I dug out my 1972 Fisher 1265-X and (surprise) found the batteries had corroded and eaten away the contacts. We live in a property built in 1420 (Suffolk) but the garden is covered by lawns and weed suppressant. I will now take out my new machine and dig up the lawn while my wife is away and blame moles when she returns. Living in the East of England I am hopeful one day of finding Boadicea’s chariot wheel or suspender belt ! I read the reviews and the Garrett seems to be the best in its class. I am hopeless at putting things together, but surprisingly I had no problems. I was surprised that no change from my 1972 machine in that the wire still has to be coiled up the pole – why not inside the pole out of the way? The machine is quickly ready to go – also surprised the batteries are already installed (obviously they are not worried about leakage). I rushed outside with machine set to ‘coins’ and got several signals in the immaculate lawn (oh, dear). So all looks good and sounds good. The machine is lightweight and great to use. In the box is a waterproof see-through cover for the “controls” and a haversack. In 1972 I only remember finding ring-pulls and one half-crown (that dates me!). Enjoy and have good success (Remember to remove those batteries if you are not using for extended periods).

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe company I bought the detector from did me proud by including in the purchase a bundle of great accessories.
My last detector was a toy compared to this one.To make sure it was working I had a quick scan of my front garden and its accuracy in pinpointing objects is mind blowing. Can’t wait to do some serious metal detecting.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersI’ve been using this intermittently for a while now. One day I’ll get round to getting a claim of my own on a nice piece of old roman road, but until that day on my local beach, no balled up piece of tin foil, no abandoned crisp packet, no old 2p pieces and no tiny NO2 gas cannisters will remain unfound by me and my trusty detector!
    (63p and counting found!)

Well made, easy to assemble, air test on most metal coins 10 inches, easy to use and set up, some cool features, about the right price for a metal detector with the spec
What I liked is you get free headphones, free instructional DVD, a rucksack and book and a waterproof cover.
It would have been a better detector if it had the number value on the display as some cheaper metal detectors have but you can’t have everything for a beginners detector.

Like many others I bought this detector a fair few years ago as my first detector to “get into it” and it’s great, you learn to understand the beeps and can set it up to your taste as it were and have it beep for the items you are looking for the settings are simple to navigate and set up and for the price you can’t go too far wrong, wet sand isn’t great for this machine but it works well enough to scan the beach but a pro pointer is a much needed addition to help navigate your finds and save you wasting time on possible false beeps. But it’s good quality give you what you need to get started from a good brand with a strong base for metal detecting
