No leaks. Very heavy of course and I have mounted it on a support to help the wall bolts. Can’t believe they could bear the weigh forever. Otherwise as it says on the tin.
once installed this is a great garden hose and is super effective. However we found it quite difficult to hang as getting the base into brickwork was not easy and the hose is surprisingly heavy though all worth it as it is proving so useful.
A part of the unit broke. The bit that the hose clips on to.
I asked for a refund and Giraffe sent me a new unit. So, good product and very good after sale service. I would recommend it.
It was easy to install and high quality. It’s so easy to wind the hose using the motor and there are no hose tangles. One of those products you wish you’d found years ago.

Haven’t yet used as put away for the winter, nevertheless am sure I will be pleased when I do use it.
It works well pleased with it to heavy for me to lift had to pay to get the wall drilled but is worth it , when it rewinds you have to run the hose through the had to control the speed or it could hit you or a window worth watching it on YouTube before your purchase it’s shows you in a video so there are no surprises will stress it is heavy get the delivery man to perhaps put the box in your shed or garage I’m a retired female and I struggled with the weight .

For me the worst part of using a hose pipe is getting it out and putting it away. No longer, with this it’s so easy and more pleasant to use.
This is one of the best tools I have acquired. A high quality long hose with a clever mechanism for easy retraction, and an excellent spray head with several different settings. The unit is quite heavy and the bolts for fixing it to a vertical surface are a bit awkward to drive in, so I have supported the unit on bricks as well to take some of the weight. But it still rotates enough to enable the hose to be taken out at an angle left or right. It has revolutionised our ability to water distant plants, and especially tubs. Strongly recommended.

I have wanted to get one of these for a couple of years. I had high expectations – I am not sure about this thing yet.
It arrived in a cardboard box and was packaged inside with styrofoam. Everything arrived in good condition and was well packaged.
The first thing i did not like when I opened it is the leader hose. It was bend and kinked and is likely to never really flow correctly. The hose itself (and the leader) is of rather poor quality. It is a pretty hard nylon and will kink easily. It is also likely to have trouble surviving the weather changes in Connecticut. The ends of the hoses are all metal and “ok”. Nothing particularly special, the kinds of garden hoses you would expect from a “mart” store. These are not professional quality hoses.
The reel seems decent. It is made of plastic and, unfortunately, the mechanicals inside of it appear to be also. I am very concerned about it holding up, but i have not used it enough yet and am still hopeful.
Installation was fine – no instructions were included, but it came with lag bolts and they were easy enough to put into my deck. The mounting bracket is also plastic, but it seems reasonably heavy-duty.
Overall, i am not thrilled with everything being plastic. It may be fine and the price was reasonable, but I am going to give this a couple of weeks of testing before I determine if i am going to keep it.
To begin, the product is super sturdy and very well made. I purchased this in 2020 and shortly after buying it I sold my home and decided I was bringing this with me. In my new home we used it for our garden and was very happy with it. Over the winter I left it outside and although I had detached it from the water line it must have had some water remaining in the hose and it froze and cracked the feeder tube that leads to the reel. Almost two years after purchase I contacted Giraffe and two day later I received a new reel FedEx no hassles no worries. They even followed up to make sure everything was okay! That’s customer service and you just don’t see that anymore so I was amazed to say the least.

This is a serious bit of kit. Well made and very sturdy, looks and feels like it’ll last for years and years. The unspooling/spooling mechanism works very well too. Highly recommended.
This hose reel is well made with ss fittings and sturdy hose. The recoiling seems to work fine and the unit’s appearance is neutral, not sticking out like a sore thumb. One thing I find lacking is the swivel. It is plastic on plastic, which in my case of being in a garage is much easier on it but in an outdoor setting could be lacking due to weather and uv conditions. My suggestion to resolve this is a ss sleeve to withstand these conditions.
I’ve only had ours (90 ft, 5/8) a few weeks but I like it well enough to buy one for the back yard. I had read a few comments about it not working when reeled in and am glad to report that the water flows reeled in just fine. The water pressure reeled in or out appears the same as with my old hose. If I had a complaint it would be that they should at least offer an adapter that fits under the mounting bracket to allow the unit to fold completely next to the wall its attached to and a 45 degree hose attachment where the supply hose fits into the side. Other then those minor things, I highly recommend!

Update to this review: the mounting bracket is already showing signs of stress fractures and warping. I have used the hose about 10 times and was gental with it. Definitely disappointing to have mounting bracket beginning to fail this early on an expensive product.
Overall great product, super easy and fast to install. Makes any chore that requires a hose so much easier. The hose itself is much more flexible than I thought it would be even when it’s cold out. I may buy another one they are so convenient.

Downgraded easy to install as no hose washers were installed in the connector hose. Had to make a trip to the hardware store to get some. Easy enough to do, cost a dollar or so, and another hour of time.
The hose seems a little flimsy and had a kink in it when unpacked. But since one must turn off the water at the faucet and depressurize the hose to enable the retraction spring, the hose will not have pressure in it unless left extended.
After installing my new Giraffe Hose reel, i found the lock-in-place feature did not function as described. I contacted Giraffe Customer Service via email and was connected with “Grace”, who asked me to make a brief video with my IPhone and send it to her. Grace was in contact with me (throughout the weekend), at which time she made arrangements to send me a replacement product. I was kept informed regarding the tracking number and projected arrival date and time. I received the new product two days later, and the lock-in-place feature DID in fact function correctly. Giraffe Tools Customer Service Department and its representative, Grace, were wonderful-efficient and very friendly. In these impersonal times, it is a pleasure to find a company that really seems to care about customer satisfaction.
I deducted one star because the feed mechanism in the first one I received jammed up after 3 months of use. Fortunately, the company has a 2 year warranty on their product and stands behind it. It took a few days to process as you can only contact them via e-mail but they replaced the product quickly and I had the replacement in a few days. The new hose reel works perfectly and if it holds up over time, I will write off the first one as an manufacturing aberration and adjust the rating to a 5 star, because when it works this hose reel a great product. One more thing. Be sure you have two people when installing this. It is somewhat heavy, after all it has 90′ or more of hose in it, and its helpful to have someone to hold it in place while you bolt it down. They provide a mounting template and the necessary hardware, which makes installation very easy.
I’ve been looking for a QUALITY hose reel to replace my failing, leaky sidewinders for years. Giraffe is the one! I ended up getting 2 of them. Installation was easier than a sidewinder, and the result is just what I’ve been seeking. Operation is smooth and reliable; the hose is durable and flexible, and the reel winds flawlessly and evenly even with the hose under pressure. Customer service is excellent! After about 8 months, one of the nozzles malfunctioned. Giraffe Tools sent a replacement immediately–not just the nozzle; the whole reel! I highly recommend this seller and this product.
Have a horse barn with 4 stalls and it was a hassle each day to water horses and drag a water hose thru out barn and then back out and then hang it up out of the way.
Hated the price of this one, but reviews were great…..so I bit the bullet.
So glad I did. I LOVE it!, so dang easy to pull out and use and so dang easy to walk it back out of the barn and walla…its put up!

I was sceptical of this retractable hose reel, but with a 2 year warranty and the plethora of positive reviews i decided to plunk down the money and get it.
I sunk a 6×6 four feet into the ground and mounted this thing to it. It works like a champ. But, the male threads on the hookup are a pain. I purchased a female to female hose adapter, and a 90 hose adapter with a shutoff and now its perfect.
Giraffe, are you listening? Ditch the male connector and put a 90 on it with a local shutoff.
If you’re considering purchasing this i recommend pulling the trigger, but order the adapters at the same time. You’ll thank me.
So far so good. I’m only in week one but I’ve used it’s a handful of times to water my front yard and nearly used all 90ft since we have a decent sized yard. I will break down my experience and update if anything goes wrong or well!
Install: easy packaging but this is def a two person job as the reel is heavy an “mounting while drilling” accurately is difficult when hold both. The supplied hardware worked well for my brick wall I drilled into.
Function: it is plastic but seems to be pretty sturdy and will hopefully last much longer than my three previous versions that were ground boxes. It reels smoothly and with force so be careful not to just “let it rip.” it may damage the reel I feel. The nice part is the water pressure and all the connectors were solid. I did apply grease on the O rings and some anti sieze.
Overall, there are a few doubts but I am enjoying the mounted reel and the easy ability to water and clean up.
Pros: I really like this product. The lead hose is extra long and the ability to swing the hose carrier is very creative and useful. I would be hesitant to install into sheetrock with the mollies that were included. I mounted mine on a 2×6 that is secured to a wall stud. The hose pulls out and retracts easily. I love the nozzle that’s included. I mounted our unit higher up so no more back strain moving water hose.
Cons: Instructions are vague and metric measurements. Nowhere do the instructions mention the small locking screw that holds the unit on the mounting bracket. And the product is Chinese. I still can’t believe American ingenuity cannot produce a similar product for the price.
I initially had an issue I ran into, however the customer support team proactively reached out to me and was able to resolve my issue by explaining what I was doing wrong. Because of this it’s 5 stars.
The hose reel is really nice. It’s built out of a plastic material which makes it lightweight and easy to hang, yet strong. I put this in my barn and it makes pulling the hose out to refill animal water buckets in each stall very quick and easy easy, and the simple pull to retract makes hose storage so simple. It’s also great for a quick spray down of my tractor or the stalls.
Overall given the level of Service I received and the way this reel operates it’s definitely recommended.
Very good love the almost 180 degrees of movement the auto retract for the hose my only 2 bad things are the hole guide in the manual is not to size almost 4mm off in the length and only other problem is the holes of the mounting screws are very tight to the frame have to force a socket over it or use an open ended spanne

UPDATE…I contacted the seller with an issue, which was quickly resolved. I received email responses right away (over a holiday weekend), by a dedicated customer service agent.
SECOND UPDATE….I removed one star since this product faded rather quickly (mounted on a south facing wall) and after a freeze, the nozzle leaks at the seams, despite leaving it open to drain. I’m still happy with its overall perfprmance. I will probably paint it in the spring and get a new nozzle.
Positives are that hose is fairly lightweight which makes it easy to handle, as you pull out the hose it does a good job of stopping/locking at various intervals so I can make it “not retract” about every 10 to 12 feet as I pull it out. I often only need 30 or 40 feet of hose to come before wanting it to lock (no tension on pull out operation). It rates 5 stars in operation. A little less for overall design due to all plastic parts and actual hose being a little on the light weight side.
Sprayer that comes with hose is fairly useless. I put mine in a drawer and bought a new one that operates easier and has better flow streams.
I am happy with this purchase. It is definitely better than my last retractable hose reel, but not ideal.
UPDATE: I’ve had this almost a year now and it’s amazing. It’s true it never gets tangled and winds itself up. It’s so easy snd glides nicely which really helps my back issues, to not have to fuss with it. Thanks to whoever invented this I am very satisfied with this purchase.
I can now quickly water my micro garden with no mess and without the hassle of manually winding up the hose. This one is well built and you can swap out the lead hose. I’m extremely pleased!
