I have recently purchased these to replace an old pair. I love the comfortable grip, they are nice and light too as well as sharp enough to cut through quite thick stems.
I have bad arthritis in my hands and these are great to both hold and use. Only one minor downside is that they are difficult to fastern shu
Bought for my wife for the allotment and she loves them. Look smart, sharp and ideal for a multitude of uses. Decent price for what you get. Soft handles and good for arthritic hands. Easy to use.
I have a large garden and a lot of gardening tools. On the secateur front there is always a trade off between something big that will cut through thickish branches and something small for delicate trimming.
For the big stuff, I’ve never found anything better than the large Felco units which are frankly worth the money. For detailed work I personally prefer the Japanese bonsai cutters, which have superb quality steel and a lovely hand-feel.
That brings us in to the box full of also-ran secateurs that many people have picked up from garden centres, garden shows, Homebase, Amazon and the local supermarket! Mostly they start off OK and blunt or fall apart – or get left in the garden to rust by various members of the family (allegedly!).
I’ve bought loads over the years but these budget secateurs are great in the hand – super comfortable and lightweight – and have a razor sharp cut. Time will tell, but I can understand why these get high sales and glowing reviews: a very good product.
I bought these to replace my old ones which had been well used and would say that these are great value. Better quality than my old ones and cut through small branches like butter.
Nice lock mechanism to keep them closed when not in use and comfortable grip handles.
Used these a couple of times now, mainly rose and woody herb pruning. Easily up to the task. Sharp blades cut cleanly.
Comfortable hands n the hand (large hand may be less so for small hands. Well constructed and solid feel. Very impressed so far and a great price and usual
Speedy delivery.
I’d been struggling with blunt, loose secateurs for ages, but when I saw this pair, heavily discounted and with such good reviews, I just couldn’t resist them. Oh joy! When they arrived (in easy to undo packaging) I tried them out straight away on the hydrangea bush that needed deadheading. It was like cutting through butter. Now I’m a secateur ninja, pouncing on anything that needs pruning! Great product.
Looked high and low. Didn’t want cheap ones with springs holding the handles together. Found several. Some priced that would have expected a gardener to be included. Buy cheap pay twice. These fit the bill and expectations.
This gardening product boasts excellent quality, making it easy to handle. Both my husband, with larger hands, and I, with smaller hands, find them easy to use. They cut effortlessly, arrived in great packaging, with a prompt delivery, all at a reasonable price.
You gets what you pays for. These are well enough made and powerful. I’ll be amazed if they last 5+ years in the way Fiskars do. For now they’ve done fine job heavy pruning. Muscles are requires where the branch is more than 15mm but that’s to be expected right? The foam tube on handle can be stuck so it doesn’t keep slipping off and put a drop of oil on the coil spring when storing away
My Am-Tech ratchet pruners (two pairs) finally gave up the ghost after many years’ hard use (unfortunately both at the same time as I’d bought them at the same time) and I needed to replace them immediately, before it became too late in the year to do some final essential pruning. Unfortunately the Am-Techs don’t seem to be the same beasts any more (how often does this happen?…) so it was back onto Amazon to look at the reviews of other ratchet pruners.
Impressed with the reviews for these Gonicc (who?) pruners I sent for a pair – fully intending to return them if they didn’t do the job because, having previously bought pairs from garden centres and thrown them across the lawn in frustration, this time I was not going to end up with more duds.
I’m back here to buy a third pair of these pruners (so I can keep a pair to hand at all key locations in the garden)…
What pruners need to do is cut (and so many of the damned things just don’t – they chew) – and these cut like a hot knife through butter. They cut through pretty slim twigs (not all ratchet pruners do) and they cut through amazingly thick branches (for pruners, obviously) using the ratchet mechanism. I had a lot to do because of the failure of my ancient trusty Am-Techs, but these pruners did it all. And my hands weren’t even tired.
Pruners need to cut. obviously, but they also need to sit easily and comfortably in the hand, have a ratchet mechanism which can be used without strain, not get stuck in thicker branches, and be easy to lock and unlock (a hurdle at which many ratchet pruners fall). These babies do it all, effortlessly.
Obviously, having just bought these three pairs of Goniccs, I can’t speak about their longevity but I can’t see any weak points and I haven’t felt any of the wrong sort of ‘give’ which would lead me to believe the pruners won’t last. They are easy to clean and they seem pretty resistant to moisture.
I’m always replacing garden clippers. So far these seem very well made and are comfortable to hold with the foam like covering to the handle. The touch of red colour makes them easier to spot when you’ve laid them down too.
These Secateurs have been so good to use. They are extremely sharp & well made & they just do the job!
They are the first Secateurs i have ever purchased, & I’ve gone through dozens over the years!
That DO NOT give me blisters on my hands after use & No aching/painful hands after using either.
Which is such a relief!
Buy them, you won’t be disappointed.
I liked the overall design, except the way the secateurs were unlocked. The slider was not clearly denoted and was quite stiff at first for arthritic fingers to operate. However once unlocked they were excellent in operation – sharp, and good for woody lavender stems.
I would recommend them highly to seasoned gardeners.
hey are quite comfortable to hold and seem quite solid, the spring between the handles is soft but manageable. Obviously for brand new blades, they slice through the garden brambles with ease, but they cut nicely so far. I’m really pleased so far. They have a lifetime guarantee so I’ll see how long they last. Overall they are very easy to use.
I had been using cheap secateurs for years and decided to try a decent pair. These said “Professional ” in the description so I thought I’d give them a try. So glad I did. Very sharp blade with a good grip make cutting branches easy.
Spend an extra couple off quid, it will make your life easier.
Only one little niggle: the blade locking lever has no anti-turn device so the screw losens quickly. Having to check it on each use is a nuisance.
Handle pads are great because my hands bruise easily.
Not yet used but held in hand and not a brilliant fit.Have to loosen grip to open suckerteers to operate which means slippage. Will update when used in garden.
I have a small hand span and so on tougher bits to snip had to use both hands to cut through as didn’t have the strength or grip in just one. That’s not to say these are not sharp. More my small hand span and grip strength I think. It tackled the overgrown roses with ease and made easy work of it. It was just on some bigger cuts I struggled to use one handed. Nice to use and not too heavy.
I received an Amazon voucher for my birthday and bought these secateurs using it. I have previously had several others before and these are by far the best I have ever used. They are lightweight and cut through branches easily. I am very pleased with them and would recommend them
They seem decent. The blades are sharp, and time will tell how durable. The sponge covers on the handles are okay, but for me not great. I work in garden maintenance for a living, and much prefer a harder handle cover. These sponge handles make the span wider to grip around and might not suit the smaller hand. They also creep down the handles a little, over time.
These secateurs are really comfortable in the hand and cut through stems at ease. I recently trimmed our almond blossom tree, mimosa and roses using these cutters and it was really smooth and easy to do – they are sturdy and I’d definitely recommend
Over the years I’ve used numerous brands of secateurs, only to find many are flimsy, blunt easily or the tension spring breaks. These are outstanding: sturdy, super sharp, with a soft cushioned grip and capable of slicing through tough stems and vines. They put other brands like Wolf into the shade.
Maybe it’s because they replaced a Poundland pair, but these felt well-balanced and we well-made Nice heavy and robust feel yet easy on the finger joints. Has stayed pretty sharp so far.
Used to try to use a succors to cut stems off flowers and it was always more “hacking” then anything else.
These cut through the stems like a hot knife through butter!
These secateurs have only been used for a day, but so far I’m delighted.
I’ve dead headed shrubs and a couple of thicker branches and they’ve been perfect for the job.
I have small hands but the grip adjusted just fine. I was used to my old cutter, which I had not realised how dull they had got or how I had struggled.
These cutters are so sharp. I’m now on a thick stem pruning frenzy. 🙂
I’ve been buying a more expensive name brand for years and periodically the spring on them always breaks. These are just as good as named expensive brand but give me some time to feed back on the spring. Have a good day all.
Good value for money so far. I’ve went through a few pairs of cheaper ones just for easy pruning, Always failed quickly. These seem well made and tackled a very overgrown (over years) mixed hedge. Cut through hard 1-2.5 cm branches with ease.
These really are the sharpest secateurs I’ve ever had and I’ve had loads. I was so surprised at how easy they cut and have now been hiding them from my husband. Maybe I’ll buy another pair for him so that I don’t feel so guilty.
Highly recommended
Does what you would expect. Easily cuts through up to 30mm branches. Good hand comfort and strong/well made – overall very pleased with this quality item.
These are a great pair of pruning shears. comfortable to use. With other pairs I’ve had have caught knuckles due to the metal handles, these just don’t do that due to the covered handles. Would recommend.
Used an old pair and they snapped when I was trying to cut through branches! My fault! Got these though and they cut through plant life and small branches like butter. Highly recommend.
These are great, so sharp, comfy to hold – the only downside is the clip that keeps the blades shut – it is very stiff to close properly, often I cannot get it closed.
Easy to use on fairly thin stalks, very sharp, but when trying to cut thicker more woody stalks, had to exert quite a bit of pressure and with some, I simply gave up, not because the secaturs wouldn’t cut but I simply didn’t have the necessary strength. Good for general gardening.
This is a good pair of shears – easy to use and sharp. The closing mechanism isn’t very strong, and it can struggle with very thick stems, but it has worked well for most normal uses in my garden. Good value for the price and would buy again.
Unless there are (unlikely) quality control issues or they have been used incorrectly, it is hard to see how this item can break during normal usage. If you come across a thick branch and twist and wrench these secateurs, you’re going to break them and any others you could buy. Used sensibly/properly they are hard to beat. They are garden secateurs for garden enthusiasts, they are not really suitable for professional gardeners or tree surgeons – you will pay 3x as much for ones to suit that purpose. After reading the poor reviews for many of this type of product, I opted for these for the price and the perceived quality and now I should be really pleased to recommend them. It is fair to say that they are best fit for largish hands.
Compared to my previous secateurs I find these a bit harder to use because the handles spring so far apart. I have average size hands but if you have smaller hands I really don’t think these would be suitable. Once you’re using them you can keep the handles sprung a bit more comfortably but you need to have them wide apart to really get leverage on a thick branch. The good news is that they cut through almost anything you throw at them cleanly and easily with no sticking and no tendency for the blades to push apart sideways which cheap secateurs suffer from sometimes. The neoprene sleeves on the handles protect you from blisters though I find they slide off over time and are fiddly to slide back down the handle. I’d recommend these to anyone with medium to large hands only.
These have been used daily since purchase, I have large hands with good grip strength.
Although comfortable the blades show signs of damage and heavy wear.
It should be noted that titanium is not that hard, yes it can have a high tensile strength, but strength and hardness are two different things, the point being I have old secateurs that are a high quality steel and are European made and they are far sharper with a cleaner cut, you get what you pay for, but you will struggle to find quality on Amazon at this point as they only shill Chinese products these days, very disappointing I will be leaving them shortly because of this.
Very sharp!.. didn’t realize how blunt our old ones were..cuts through a little finger size branch easily…only one thing miss having a cord to hang it up
Really sharp and very comfortable to use. Cuts a dream. Look and feel nice quality too. I’ve used to prune gooseberries, raspberries and some very woody gnarled rosemary so far.
I’ve survived off budget secateurs for the past 39 years but I was wary of the damage my rose bushes and hydrangeas took last year after I’d hacked at them. I vowed to invest in a half decent pair of pruning scissors this year so after a quick look at the reviews, I opted for these. They’re very comfortable in the hands and slice through even the woodiest of stems with a clean cut. I’m hoping with some TLC, they’ll remain in top condition for a good while yet.
Used to cut thick brambles out of the garden, very sharp and cuts very thick stems easily. Cannot fault them in any way, a very high quality garden tool!
hese are easy to use and slice through even thick twigs vey easily.
They fit nicely in the hand and don’t hurt when slicing through tough branches or twigs.
Easy to maintain and keep their sharpness.
These are really good secateurs and I’ve dropped the stars in comfort as I have small hands and these seem more suitable for man hands. Otherwise they work just great.
I find the handles too thick to be really comfortable. Haven’t used them in earnest yet so may update later. UPDATE – I’ve used them a lot now, the handles are comfy and the pruners sharp. I’ve ordered a 2nd pair as I am so pleased with them and the price is very good value. Hence upgraded from 4 star to 5 star.
I have recently purchased these to replace an old pair. I love the comfortable grip, they are nice and light too as well as sharp enough to cut through quite thick stems.

Does it’s job, very sharp
Full review to follow, after using it for a few months
Not as sharp as hoped. Stems often got caught within mechanism.
Spend an extra couple off quid, it will make your life easier.
Strong and good value Secateurs, handy for all types of pruning
A good replacement for my worn out cutters. Hopefully they will last for many years.
Great set of secateurs so sharp makes pruning very easy. Nice touch with the padded handles.
easy to use and best ive bought and used, cuts thick branches
Handle pads are great because my hands bruise easily.
Not yet used but held in hand and not a brilliant fit.Have to loosen grip to open suckerteers to operate which means slippage. Will update when used in garden.
These good value pruners are comfortable to use but do need a strong grip on harder woods.
I received an Amazon voucher for my birthday and bought these secateurs using it. I have previously had several others before and these are by far the best I have ever used. They are lightweight and cut through branches easily. I am very pleased with them and would recommend them
Great secateurs. Very sturdy and cut quick thick branches with ease. Perfect for winter pruning and tidying.
They look good, they feel good and they work – well worth the price on the ticket!
Really good set of secateurs, cuts really well (even thicker branches) and the grips are comfortable. I Very much recommend.
These have come in for some heavy usage since I bought them a couple of months ago. They cut and operate well and are comfortable to hold
Good sturdy easy to hold and good cutting opening. Really good professional secateurs strong bladed edge
Bought as present for husband, he’s more than happy with them. Would recommend.
They seem decent. The blades are sharp, and time will tell how durable. The sponge covers on the handles are okay, but for me not great. Starts off working well will the point of swivel wear like all the rest have time will tell. So far so good.
Having always bought cheap ones I decided to buy a better pair while it was on offer. Glad I did the best I have owned
Too big for my hand, can’t open them enough, if they open fully I can’t reach to close them. Seem good quality but only good for large hands.
What a difference a decent secateurs can do when you have a lot of pruning to do.
These secateurs are really comfortable in the hand and cut through stems at ease. I recently trimmed our almond blossom tree, mimosa and roses using these cutters and it was really smooth and easy to do – they are sturdy and I’d definitely recommend

Very good secateurs, easy and comfortable to use. Thank you.
My previous secateurs would not cut through butter! These cut through small branches, which is what I needed.
These secateurs are excellent. They’re very sharp and cut both thin and thick stems very easily. I’m really pleased with them.
These are the best ones I have had in 30 years. I feel like they should last a long time.
These secateurs have only been used for a day, but so far I’m delighted.
I’ve dead headed shrubs and a couple of thicker branches and they’ve been perfect for the job.
Do the job, nice clean cuts, manage to get through quite a bit of chunk and have the foam covered handles meaning its not so much pressure on my hands
Nice soft to grip handles and really sharp. Not too heavy either which is good, seem very well made. If they do not last or any issue I will update
Wish I’d bought these sooner instead of struggling with my previous rubbish secateaurs. They make light work of branches.
I have small hands but the grip adjusted just fine. I was used to my old cutter, which I had not realised how dull they had got or how I had struggled.
