These lights are economical and look amazing. We’ve used two pairs to set up as ambient lighting in our living room, and it looks great.
If you are planning to purchase these light bars (2 per pack) keep in mind that they don’t go very far apart, and are best suited for furniture such as units and desks.
Another thing to note is that if you group multiple of these lights together and use automation to turn them all on/off at once, you’ll notice a delay between the lights turning on/off. Given the price range, this shouldn’t bother anyone very much, but it’s worth noting.
Overall, I love these lights and will continue ordering products from Govee.

I was impressed by how bright these lights actually get. They were very easy to install, I opted to stick these onto the back of my monitor – it really changes the look of my setup. They are easily hidden behind the monitor too due to their size.
I would definitely recommend these and you can also connect them to your wifi so you can control them via the app
The initial install is very easy and tidy with minimal wires because it operates via Bluetooth and WiFi. After that the Govee app is very easy to use and I was quickly able to connect it to my Google account and sync it with my other devices.
The razer syncing works perfectly and I’m not able to get really really impressive ambient lighting that reacts to what’s on screen. I’d tried Razer’s own ambient light strip and it was terrible, really poor brightness and colour syncing. These are fantastic with great colour definition and brightness. They’re perfect for what I wanted and I really can’t fault them. When you look at their price Vs the Razer own brand it’s crazy how much cheaper and better these are. Highly recommended
I’ve set up the Govee light bars and loving them at the moment. Control over the color’s is really good and it’s broken down into really specific area of each bar, which allows you to show off some cool lights. Govee app is great and ties into Alexa for easy to use functionality.
I am using two of these in conjunction with a LED light strip. The strip is attached to the back of my tv and the two bars are set to each side. All are Govee branded and it works really well. I have the bars displaying random colours and the whole set up looks great. Obviously you could ask questions of the longetivity but for now I am very pleased. These are the only lights I have on in the living room at night when I’m watching tv and they are more than enough.
The product themselves are good quality with a broad range of colours. However what makes or breaks something like this is the software. Happy to report it met all of my needs. I can schedule them to turn on/off automatically (such as waking my up in the morning). I can quickly toggle them with Siri Shortcuts. I can create me own colour schemes and dynamic patterns, whether it be for a calming session or party. Very happy!!
The products are neat. They have strong lights and are very adjustable. Inside the app you can change every aspect and design to your desires. However the pre set options do make me wonder who programmed them, they are either really dull or way too in your face – very few warm background options unless you just wanna cycle between two colours. Would be better if they had some more adventurous but casual light programmes. The sticky back adhesive also is good but not perfect. Twice they have fallen off the back of my TV and had to reapply. All in all though excellent value for money – if these are on a deal definitely a must-buy
I currently have this light bar set up behind my TV and its fantastic it creates a mild ambient hue in your room and is great for films/tv to set the mood including gaming you can create custom presets to be used in different settings which is good I like having lots of customizable settings to tune to make it unique.
Only downfall is the price think its a bit expensive for a light bar should be about 30 in my opinion as they also do light strips that are a similar price I think.
Not just that the lights are not that bright even at 100% you would think it would be so bright that it would light up 60% of the room but no only lights up about 20% of the room wanted to fill one wall with colours.
The adhesive is okay but now I am very scared to pull it off the back of my TV just incase it breaks the plastic or bends any components inside so If I never need to remove it I probably most likely leave the base on the back I have one under the tv stand and one on the back so it lights up the floor as well as the wall.

Inside the box, you get plenty of mounting options, even an option to mount these to the back of your PC monitors (Which I did) and found them to look very sleek.
One thing that was a pleasant surprise was the lights come with an inline remote control, so even though these are smart, and will work with Alexa, this isn’t a requirement to change colours/brightness.

I like that the light bars are slightly more subtle than the led strips, but I would like it slightly brighter than it is, as it hints that it should be a stronger colour than it shows off of your walls.
The white light is a lot brighter than the RGB lights, so much I tend to adjust the brightness of the white light to below 30% for general use. The bars do get a bit warm with the white lights on full brightness, although they barely warm up for just the RGB lights.
Set up is quick and easy. You get a small control box which allows you to control the light bars, although I use the app and Alexa instead so keep this hidden behind the TV unit. Both light bars are connected at the ends of their generously lengthy cables to a single USB-C plug which goes into the controller. There is also a separate wall wart power supply with a typical DC power barrel connector that goes into the controller.
The app is available I believe for both iOS and Android, I only used the iOS version. Whilst the app is flexible and offers a lot of features, it’s not that intuitive and there are no instructions on how to get the best from the light bars with it. It took me a lot of trial and error to figure out how to save custom colour patterns for instance. There are also a number of preset colour patterns and effects, some are even triggered by sound (there’s a microphone in the control unit). Once you’ve set a colour pattern up on the light bars, you can use your smart speaker to turn the light bars off and on (they will resume the previous colour combination set), adjust the brightness and set the bars to a single solid colour using your voice. There might be other voice controlled instructions but in the Alexa app they appear as a normal RGBW smart bulb.
Overall this is a great and non-instrusive way to provide comfortable backlighting behind your TV – especially if you don’t want to attach them to the back of the TV. You can either stand the light bars vertically as I have done using the provided stands, sideways or even hand them on a hook/screw using the side clips provided. They seem very well made and reliable, I’ve had no issues at all controlling them now for over a month. The app is ok and enables you to do most things, but there’s only a phone version so it looks a bit tardy when used on say an iPad. It would be nice to have more customisation over dynamic light patterns such as speed, fade and transitions – the current customisation seems a bit limited. It would also be nice for instance to design chaser patterns that could fade each segment in and out so to create moving light patterns. I couldn’t find a way to do this. Overall though a really great product and a great price if you compare it to the competition.
Worked well for a couple of weeks before one of the lights started flickering constantly. Contacted Govee support, very friendly, and they quickly sent a replacement set. Fingers crossed!
Aside from that, they’re pretty good lights. They seem designed to face a wall behind your tv/monitor/desk/etc, as they are far too bright to face you, plus that’s how you get the backlight effect. The app offers LOTS of customisation (connects via bluetooth), but i find it very awkward to use.
There’s definitely better lights out there, but for this price range, these do nicely (when they work).
I ordered these on a whim and half expected them to be rubbish as they are so much cheaper than the Hue equivalent. However to my surprise they are excellent. Set up was simple and they connected to my WiFi easily which is rare!

Very bright and great looking. Using the app you can create your own light shows or use ones that are already created. Very happy with this and thinking about buying another for my bedroom.
Well worth a buy. I bought 1 set and after testing them I bought 2 more. Loads of colours and lighting effects to choose from and the app works flawlessly. And they are much cheaper than the Philip’s hue alternative. What more do you need to know.
Amazing Product I will say Govee is one of my favorite light companies and they do an amazing job on their lighting which so many options to choose from and it definitely is better choice in terms of money.
Yes the Philips Hue bars are brighter 480lm vs Govees 400 lm brightness how ever they are still bright with Philips you are a bit limit as govee you have more options at a more affordable price which Philips you need to purchase a Hub in order to control and connect the bars which is an extra 80 to 90 euro.
I bought two sets of govee light bars for 120 euro if you bought Philips ones just for one set of two it will cost you about 90 euro and then the hub and extra 80 euro so in total you paying an extra 50 euro if you went for 2 sets of 2 of govee your saving 50 euro and getting an extra set.
I highly recommend govee as I enjoy them alot and I bought 4 bars for my PC Set up which shown in photos as you can have each bar customize to what ever colour you want.
I have these behind my TV! Absolutely amazing! && the customer service from them was amazing too. I did have a issue with one of the lights flickering and I contacted them directly and they said a replacement – and it came the NEXTDAY! Unbelievable service from them, would definitely buy again.
I have bought a couple of govee products now and the reliability and value compared to nanoleaf is incomparable. Not had a single issue with my govee products disconnecting always responsive with my Google home. Top notch
Excellent bit of kit , really flexible to use. I have placed one light bar behind the TV the other is in the Hi fi cabinet. The app allows you to control both light separately, so you can switch them on and off independently.
App is easy to use. Really pleased.

Having wanted a set of Philips Hue lights for a while, I thought these may be a good alternative. I’m so glad I gave them a shot. Govee products never seem to dissapoint, do right what they say they will straight out of the box and are well made, well priced, and well specced. Don’t hesitate to take a punt on these – worth every penny!

This product looks great behind my tv it’s super bright and the app is great you can easily make your own light functions they are a bit overpriced but it’s Govee and setting up was soooo easy just scan the QR code to download the app and it scans for your light and boom done it looks great is really easy to use and is overall really cool

Really nice bit of kit. Light spreads a fair distance without washing the colour out.

This is my personal opinion. If my opinion changes or I find something I missed previously then I will update this review.
First things first. You get 2 lights. One for the left hand side, one for the right. Or top and bottom. Your choice.
Now don’t get me wrong. These are nice. they look fantastic and are quite bright (bear in mind these should be pointed at a wall or the ceiling for atmospheric lighting, NOT directly at you). They are solidly built and work with Alexa. The mounting options are generous.
But…
Outside of the presets on the app, there appears to be no way you can make animated light setups yourself. DIY mode only allows you to animations based on the presets -not freestyle. This is such a shame.
The Effects Lab within the app is a joke. It just allows you to pick colours, nothing more. Colour Lab would be more appropriate.
If you were expecting a bit more, you will be disappointed much like myself.
In fact, you might be better of buying some RGBIC strips yourself and mounting them in a diffuser. You will probably find you have much more animated choices than here.
NOTES: If you want something to match your TV picture, this is not it! You need the one with the camera.
You will need the mobile app installed in order to use these properly. (The remote only has 3 buttons)

Would I recommend them? No. I’d recommend something else – even though I got them cheaper than normal retail due to the Black Friday deals.
Would I buy them again? Probably not. Definitely not at 60+!
Should you buy them? Personally, I prefer animated displays and the small selection on offer here does not meed my needs. Your needs may vary.
Value for money? With the aforementioned caveat, I’m unsure. I paid 48 at time of purchase (Black Friday). Perhaps at that price they are, but 60+? No.

Firstly these lights are pretty cool. Remote app is very responsive and you can have unlimited light patterns and styles. The lights build quality isn’t great. I’ve chosen to use the stands. This means the lights face the wall. On the back of the lights are two fixing holes for the wall mounts. You would’ve thought there would have been some kind of bung provided to hide these. This ruins the sleek design of the lights. They look great apart from the two great big holes the back!
So far very impressed with the product. I was close to buying the Philips Hue version but pleased that I found this alternative. Much better value for money and from what I can see does the same thing!
The only negative so far is that the app feels a little clunky but I’m just being picky. Easily synced to Alexa and schedules applied. Really has elevated my desk setup. Will likely buy another one for our living room.

These smart light bars have made my gaming setup go from a solid 5 to a 10 they are insane. They are bright and the ability to use custom scenes is a game changer. I will definitely be buying more of these soon. Great value for money easy to setup.

Colours are really beautiful and vibrant and the app is just perfect way better than any other app out there .
Ok. Camera sometimes doesn’t pic up colours correctly but I can live with it. If you take the time to calibrate correctly then it is surprising good at matching colours on screen. Adds a whole extra dimension to watching movies for the fraction of the price of an Ambilight equipped TV. Definitely worth it.
Just needed some bias lighting for the office. The Phillips one, is almost twice the price of this but with the same purpose.
