light enough to push if needed saving a load of battery
I bought this for my elderly dad so that he didn’t have to push the lawnmower as his grass is a bit uneven so it is quite difficult to cut. This is great as not using petrol so that’s a plus for the environment 🙂 It goes a little too fast for him on the slowest speed. It is a great mower though. The batteries (2ah) don’t last as long as the 4ah (that I got with my previous Greenworks mower) but that’s why you get 2 but I think one 4ah would have been better so that you don’t have to change battery half way through and then you wouldn’t then have 2 batteries to charge also.
I thought that a rechargeable mower after a petrol one might be a backward step – how wrong I was.
We have a big garden split into 3 so an extra battery was purchased to cover the larger area (approx. 20m x 70m) -I.e. using 3 batteries.
The other areas 20m x 40m and 20m x 20m could be done using just over 1 battery each.
Great cut and surprisingly easy – mower is not so heavy as the petrol unit so hardly use the self propelling function.
Good value for money.
My wife needed self propelled due to her age. Having moved home that had artificial grass.
We now have 2 large lawns. The only fault battery life is short would have been good to have choice of larger capacity.
Good lawnmower. Pleased with ease of charging and operation. Astonished to find my brother- in- law had also bought one unbeknowst to me!
Heavier than I was expecting and battery doesn’t last as long as I was expecting
I spent a while looking for a decent petrol mower replacement that has both a self propelled mode and the option to switch between bagging cuttings and a cuttings mulching function. I have used it multiple times through the summer and have been happy with the results. My only concern however is the capacity of the 2ah batteries… I found that 1x2ah battery would only last about 10mins and possibly less if using the propelled function on top. The mower is supplied with 2x2ah batteries so if your lawn takes more than 20mins to cut its not the best solution, particulary when recharge time can take over an hour. I have have since purchased a 6ah/40V battery from greenworks which was not cheap but definitely required for a medium to large sized lawn.
Lightweight and easy to manoeuvre. Cutting heights easily selected. My one niggle is with the battery running time. Haven’t got a big lawn but need 11/2 batteries to complete it. But so much easier to use than my old petrol mower and will extend my grass cutting years.
Really pleased with the mower. Extremely well constructed and excellent battery life
This seller has been very helpful, machine was delivered on time, package well. I found the instructions were difficult to understand, it didn’t say I needed to hold start button and hold the blade bar together to get the blade to spin. The seller was very helpful and Curtis. Thank you Greenworks for a lovely lawnmower but can we have better instructions.
Quality bit of kit that cuts my 75sqm lawn with ease. Battery can run out quickly if you use the propel mode all the time and if grass is very long.
I am a big fan of Greenworks cordless products this is my 4th and although this is quiet a big mower its driven and cuts really well
much better than a petrol one
has two batteries and the charger included
5 stars all the way
Not as good as I expected but does the job. I have bought 4 other greenworks products and recommend my son to buy a mower and strimmerbut want be buying any as know body wants to know when you have a problem
This has to be the kit I’ve ever bought,I suffer from COPD and I could not push my old electric mower and the lead to was always in the way,my partner has been cutting the lawn and I always worry she would cut the lead. So I used it today for first time so easy and it’s the first time I’ve cut the lawns myself for 3 years. Thank you Greenworks.
Having a cordless mower is important to us, because our lawn is a bit of a stretch from the mains in our house and besides, let’s face it, a cord on a mower is a hinderance. When our Mountfield petrol mower had shuffled off its non-mortal coil, we decided to go for battery powered, partly because it’s a bit lighter and partly because charging batteries is more convenient than buying petrol and engine oil.
We ordered the mower and it arrived within about 4 days. Setup was fairly simple and takes about 5-10 minutes and so I was out testing it in next to no time. Now you will note that I gave this 4 stars out of 5. The reason for this, is that it has one slightly niggling design fault, which I will come to later.
Moving onto performance, we have a 70 metres square lawn and the mower comes with two batteries. I have cut our lawn twice. In both cases, I did the whole lawn twice. For the first run, in each case, I had to set the cutting height, almost to maximum, because the lawn was a tad overgrown. On the second coverage of the lawn, I set the cutting height to almost the shortest. The first battery was exhausted after the 1st full coverage plus a couple of extra stripes. The second battery was down to 1 LED (there are 4 LEDs lit on a fully charged battery) but not quite down to minimum charge. When the battery is run down to a minimal 1 LED charge, the mower shuts off and it beeps a few times. I don’t think you are meant to run the batteries totally flat. Recharging a battery, takes around an hour, give or take. Having the 2nd battery is a real plus.
The mower does a nice cut. Probably as good as our old Mountfield petrol mower. However there is the niggling thing I mentioned earlier, which I think, is a design fault. When you want to pull the mower backwards, you need to release the propelling lever. However, you also have to anticipate this in advance and leave room, if you are near the border, to push the mower forward another 1 – 1 1/2 feet. If you don’t do this, the rear wheels lock up when you reverse (pull backwards) the mower. This can be a pain. I exchanged the mower for a replacement, on the basis that this was a fault, but the replacement has the same behaviour and hence my assumption that it’s a design fault. That said customer services were superb and a replacement was provided promptly and without fuss.
Tips:
1. Remember to press the start button first, before pressing down the start lever, otherwise the mower won’t start.
2. Try not to overfill the grass box with clippings. The unnecessary weight wastes battery power.
3. I don’t have the spare battery stowed in the mower whilst mowing, to keep the wait down. Again this is to save on battery power.
I have added a couple of becore and couple of after pictures of a 2 battery cut.
Hope this helps.
