For my first child I only tried to hand express and also bought a very pricey electric pump with all the bells and whistles. However, I never successfully managed to collect milk with these. For my second child, I heard everyone raving about this hakaa so thought, why not give it a go? I am so glad I did, I have never collected this much milk so easily!! It even helped in the early days to gather colostrum as my baby will only take the one favoured boob, so every time I feed I have the hakaa going on the other side so I don’t have mismatched sizes and both produce for my baby equally.
There’s a lot of youtube videos with tips and tricks to use this and make it more comfortable, one thing I’ve also found helps for comfort is placing it in the fridge before your milk is about to come in as this is when you’re most delicate and the cold silicone grasp actually helps. If you find your baby kicks it off, you can actually have a more secure hold by folding back the mouth of the hakaa and then popping it on.

It is compact and comfortable, easy to use. However, during breastfeeding my wee one has a tendancy to kick it off and milk spills everywhere.
Suction can be quite painful and takes a bit of adjusting and getting used to.
Would like a lid to come as standard as you can’t seal it once it’s sterile, therefore you have to sterilise before every use which is an inconvenience with a screaming child wanting to be fed.
Actually got some milk out, but the MOST painful. could not bear it.
Amazing buy. Works well to catch any milk from breast baby not feeding from and also useful for when breast is feeling too full and you want to remove some milk before little one feeds from it.
I have had no luck with breast pumps so far, even the expensive electric designs. But this pump has been brilliant. I don’t have to do anything other than attach it to myself and then let it do it’s thing. While I’m feeding my baby I can get around 2-3oz each time, which for me I really good! I’m now going to buy a second one as a spare!

Perfect for catching the let down while feeding or pumping one breast at the time. I catch about 1-2oz with every feeding. It helps me at night when I feel engorged so I don’t need to get up and pump.

It’s easy to clean, and it has some strong suction. Definitely recommend. It’s quick and easier to use than my other pumps that have cords. I would recommend having one of these along with your electric pumps
I bought this little hand pump and started using it on one side while I nurse on the other and I just compress it one time then release, it gets a good amount of milk that would normally go wasted into a pad!
I use the haaka to catch the letdown on the other side while my son nurses. It’s a much easier way to collect a little bit of a freezer stash. Super easy to clean and once you get the hang of it the suction power is great.
I did not discover this product until my third baby but it is a game changer. I place it on the other breast while my baby nurses and it catches the letdown. I easily get 3-4 oz each time that I can freeze or put in a bottle for a later feed. Much better than soaking up a nursing pad! Highly recommend!
This is not a pump! This is a milk collector with a little bit of suction depending on how you put it on! It’s great to use on the other side when you nurse!

I attach when I’m feeding from the other side as my little one needs topping up, I get a good yield from doing this, it’s completely comfortable even if it does look a bit brutal. My nipples were chewed by baby and this was a comfortable device especially when compared to the breast pump. I should imagine this would be amazing to use if you are engorged or have mastitis too x

This hand pump is comfortable, (at least as comfortable as it can be), suctions well to the breast, and is a hands-free way to collect letdown while feeding on the other side. Though not as efficient as an electric pump, it is much more convenient. If you want to collect more than just the letdown, you can also massage the breast to release the milk. The silicon material also makes it easy to transfer collected milk into a bottle or storage bag.

This has been my main source of milk collection as pumping is too time consuming. I definitely recommend it, very convenient.
This thing is amazing!! Before I was set up to double pump, I used this on one side while I pumped the other and then would switch sides. I can often get 30-40ml and it’s mostly pain free. I can understand how some people have issues with the suction being strong and painful, but if you mess around with it a little it’s possible to find many different “levels” of suction to fit your comfort level. I wish they had two packs of these honestly.

Usually with breastfeeding and pumping we all have the one side that has a hard time producing any milk, this handheld pump really gets it to work and I love that.

I loved my haaka. I was able to suction one breast and let my baby feed off the other, but when it got a little older, maybe 2-3 months in, the suction wasn’t the same. Try not to sterilize it too much
I ordered this literally from the hospital after the lactation consultant recommended it. She told me to use it to hand express if I ever felt I was getting a clogged duct. Honestly I’ve just been using it suction on to the opposite side on which I’m nursing and collect the milk that I would otherwise be wasting. It stays on so well and I’ve been able to collect quite a bit of milk without even having to pump. I would definitely recommend it to any nursing mom.
Absolutely love this product for breast feeding! I sometimes use this in place of my pump while I’m feeding. I have two of these and definitely can not go with out. It does take some time to get used to and doesn’t not have the same strength as a pump but 10/10 recommend to anyone considering it!
I loved this product and had to buy a second one. It really comes in handy when breastfeeding. It helped me prevent wasting a lot of milk to the nursing pad. The suction is pretty good and I am able to collect quite some milk.
This one is cheaper because it’s the first model. The new ones have a suction cup on the bottom so it doesn’t fall over and they come with a lid. Just spend the extra money and get the new ones.
I absolutely love both of my Haakas. I use one during every feeding to catch the let down. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t have a freezer stash because cleaning pump parts was exhausting. The haaka is super easy to clean.

I thought this thing was going to be bogus but I was wrong. It has saved me so much milk that would have otherwise been lost in a nursing pad. All of the milk pictured was captured by just using the Hakka on the opposite side while I nurse my baby. It’s only been 2 weeks since I’ve given birth and I feel so secure knowing I have a growing stash for my baby! He’s exclusively breastfed straight from the source at this time, but when we’re ready to add bottles too I know we’ll have plenty of milk.

This is incredibly helpful for catching let down on the breast opposite the one I’m feeding with. I just have to keep on eye on it to make sure it doesn’t fall off when my baby hits it or that the suction doesn’t loosen. If I can do that, it’s a cleaner experience for us both plus some bonus milk to store. I only wish I researched a little better and got the Gen 2 with the wide suction base because I have definitely knocked this over several times when it’s sitting on a table.
Only down side to this product is when suction stops you are at risk of losing milk. Lost freshly pumped liquid gold at least 3x due to suction loss. Other than that I love this product. They are very convenient for on the go unforeseen pumping while out days. Or even just pumping anywhere around the house.

I am super bummed I didn’t buy this sooner. My son is 4-months old. I use this when he’s nursing and I don’t have to manual pump. Instead, I just latch this and it does the work for me. I’ve gotten so much excessive milk I would have lost otherwise.
I love love my Haakaa. I am a working mom and having a stash for baby was very important to me. So I use this to collect any extra milk from which ever breast baby is not feeding on. Such a lifesaver!

It does the job but I’m sensitive to it. It causes me pain so I stopped using it.
Why this is better than pumping:
– easier and more comfortable
– collect milk that was usually go to waste
– doesn’t make a horrible noise when you use
– more time efficient as you use while you are breastfeeding, rather than having to pump after you’ve finished feeding

I like it but don’t love it. I’ve tried multiple times to get good suction but not getting the hang of it. I’m thinking it’s because I’m very big chested. I’m still going to try and figure it out because it’s easier to clean than my electric pump.
I lived this thing so much when I had my baby helps with engorgement and storing milk much easier especially in the early weeks. For some it doesn’t really work once your milk is well established and you stop leaking 24/7 but it still worth the investment just for how helpful it is in the early weeks! I buy for everyone I know having a baby!!
The haakaa has been so helpful at collecting milk from the side I’m not nursing on. I’ve collected a nice sized freezer stash of breastmilk for daycare that way! It is easy to use, easy to clean, and very portable!
If you are breastfeeding, this is such an essential! I use it at least 3-4 times everyday. It was great to relieve pressure and pain from engorgement from the moment my milk came in easily collecting milk without having to deal with using my pump.
An absolute must have for breastfeeding moms!! I use this on the breast I’m not nursing from to catch the let down and usually get 2-3 ounces on average, sometimes more. You can squeeze it to apply the suction you need while nursing on the other breast. I usually keep it on for at least 15 minutes. I actually bought two so I can rotate and not have to constantly wash one. I am saving and freezing what I get from the haakaa, to start my stash for when I have to go back to work. 10/10, five stars, favorite product for postpartum/newborn stage.
This thing has saved a lot of leaking milk. It’s a little tricky to figure out, but it definitely worth the price.
