Firstly, this machine does dry. There are 3 drying levels and the pre-programmes only use level 2 drying which does not dry thoroughly. You have to adjust the drying level for it to dry properly, I also leave the washing in after drying as the drum stays really warm for up to 1 hour.
Secondly, the grey water hose at the back of the machine that takes the waste water away to your drain is the shortest that I have ever known on a washing machine. My washing machine sits under the kitchen worktop, with panels at either side of the machine – it was impossible for me to connect the hose to the waste pipe without disconnecting the hose from the clips at the back of the washing machine, which is ok, but then you cannot clip the hose back into the clips. It states in the manual that the height of the hose has to be about 100cm, this is the height when it is clipped to the back of the machine. I had to remove a kitchen side panel to be able get in and clip the hose back to the machine. Alternatively, if you have this problem, then you might be able to get a hose extender. I think a lot of machines might have been fitted with the hose not clipped back in at the right height – due to the hose being so short – and therefore causing drainage problems and other problems.
The timer delay is a bit confusing, it sets the time for when the washer should end, which isn’t too bad but it’s not clear on some washes how long the wash is and so you don’t know when it will start. It’s not a big problem and you can work it out.
The spinning is really nice and smooth, a lot quieter than our last machine. The load weight of 12kg is fantastic. I am basically doing 1 wash instead of 2 washes in the old machine. It also seems to get the clothes cleaner than our last machine.
One great feature is that on most of the programmes you can adjust the water temperature – which saves time and money – this gives you a lot of flexibility to create your own “wash” as you can also adjust drying level, spin level and many other features. It takes time to get used to but once you understand it, it’s great.
There are only a few washing programmes (about 2) that you can select that will allow you to dry at 8kg – this is ok, but you need to watch out for programmes that wash at 12 kg but only dry at 6kg or 4kg.
Overall, I am really happy with the machine – so long as it remains reliable.
As for it smelling, as some people say, it does say in the manual to run a programme first, without washing, to get rid of the smell. You also need to clean the filter every month, which is easy to do (its on the bottom front right of the machine).
I would just recommend to read the manual and re-read it.
First and foremost, if you have never had a direct drive and you are looking for a new washing machine then this has to be at the top of your requirements list. It is so quiet, hardly shakes or rumbles on a full cycle, we can sit in the kitchen and easily have a normal conversation. The machine itself looks stunning, the controls are easy and intuitive and has everything you’d ever need and the drum is a decent size. The LED lit drum is also great, very handy for spotting the odd missing item lurking away at the back when emptying and overall just makes the appliance look more premium. It is also quite narrow in regards to depth which made it very easy to install, we don’t have a large space so this fitted in a lot better than our old one.
It washes our clothes perfectly as you’d expect, but to be fair most washing machines do this pretty well. Its cycle time is certainly quicker than our old machine which is another great benefit, I like how you can adjust the cycle time to your needs. Even though I hadn’t really heard of Haier I was able to register for a 5 year parts and labour warranty as this appliance is part of their selected range on the additional warranty scheme which makes this even better value for money!
Overall, this is a fantastic alternative to an LG Direct Drive that offers some great unique features. We have been using for a few weeks now and I would not hesitate in recommending this, everything is perfect so far, hopefully we will have many years of happy washing.
I have not been disappointed – it’s quiet, reliable and so easy to use.
Would definitely recommend this brand
I read a lot of reviews and watched some videos before purchasing this machine. It’s a big investment for me after all. The quality of the wash cycle is great. Compared to the machine I replaced it with. The washing smells so fresh and clean. I was concerned about the reviews regarding the drying cycle and was worried about using it. Some reviews said the clothes either get burned to a crisp or weren’t dry enough. So I tested it out on something I wasn’t worried about ruining. I had nothing to worry about. I just set the machine to the 30 minute auto timer and the clothing was perfectly dry, crease free and unaffected. The touch screen and dial control is so intuitive. Options are perfect for selecting the type of wash and dry cycle that suits you. Especially if time is of the essence. I live in an open space type of apartment and the things that really amazed me was just how quiet this appliance is. The build quality is super sturdy and was so easy to install. There’s also a 10 year guarantee. A very satisfied customer here.
After owning a washer and dryer, I can’t believe how quiet this machine is. OK, the clothes may need a little linger on the drying cycle but its so quiet on wash or dry. It’s bloody good.
Just a warning my washer dryer court fire due to a fault with the dryer up until this the washer dryer is great it could of just been a one off so don’t let it put you off from buying one my washer as no gone to the scrap ma
Really happy with my purchase, it looks amazing and easy to use. Paid extra for Amazon to install and take away our old one which I’d highly recommend!
The only thing I’d say is that when a cycle has ended it doesn’t beep or make a noise to say its ready, minor negative but not a reason to avoid purchase!
Compared to our old washer dryer that our landlord refused to replace its amazing.
Very quiet machine. Wash programmes are great. Only tried the drier twice and it was good for a small load like underwear and socks. I tried towels and it would have taken hours. Great machine so fa
I love my new washer dryer. So worth the money. Dryer does not take long at all. Most washer dryer take for every to dry not this one 100% recommend. Looks amazing and all touch screen. Very good warranty.
Needed a smaller depth washing machine/dryer to go into a cupboard. This perfectly fit the bill, but be aware that the size quoted isn’t the actual(add approx 80mmto include door and hisesat rear.) The machine is easy to use and extremely quiet. Unable to comment on energy efficiency as still to early into owning it. I would certainly recommend on noise reduction alone
All in all extremely impressed with this Washer-Dryer. Drum Noise is almost silent until its doing a heavy spin. Most of the noise appears to be from vibration in where it’s situated, so may even be a bit quieter once I use the sticky muffling pads provided. Speaking of the drum, the size is huge compared to my old one, more than enough to accommodate the weekly wash of a small family, let alone me on my own!
Dryer also dries the capacity as it should, I half loaded the drum and it had no problems on the Smart Wash/Dry getting my bedding dried. The dryer itself isn’t too loud either, can barely hear it from the next room. The interior light for the drum is also very helpful in loading and unloading, especially in low light conditions.
The Cycles are all of variable lengths, and all settings like Temperature, Spin and Dry Time can be changed. It is also possible to completely customise a cycle to whatever you are washing so you can really get what you want out of a cycle.
My only complaint; the touch screen buttons. It can be a bit temperamental and fidgety. Might be my big sausage fingers but it always seems to lack any responsiveness without pressing hard on it. Would’ve been nice also to have had some functionality to connect it to WiFi and run cycles from an app like some other brands have, but that’s not a feature I’m overtly worried about.
All in all quite happy with buying!
Machine looks good and works well. Not noisy except when its running in SPIN-DRY mode.
I was afraid that the dryer function may not be good as in the past I have noticed that washer-dryers are not very effective and people still install a separate dryer. However, this machine does a very good job of drying clothes.
With 2 weeks of usage, as of now, I am happy with this product.
The dryer take to long and it’s not very efficient.
Glad we bought the 10 kg version as it lives in a cupboard upstairs and it’s with plenty of space about it. It sits on one of those vibration mats, 6 from a diy place. Same as a normal washer no extra things to worry about. Drains washing and drying down the pipe. The lint tray seems to be around the door and this is then washed down the drain on next wash. The same little door on front for the penny trap. I’m not sure how it keeps the condenser clean as I was always cleaning out the wet lint from the condenser on my stand alone condenser tumble drier unit.
I drain the penny trap filter every couple of weeks after I’ve finished just to eliminate any smells. Never found a penny either.
Performance. The menus take some getting used to. I stick to cotton then select speed, 1400 presently, then temp 40-60 depending on clothes. That’s it, when finished I take out the stuff I don’t want tumbled then shake the other stuff about a bit, place in my woolen drying ball things and stick it on 1 hour. I also remove the powder tray when drying and have it removed when the machine is idle any how.
I notice that when I start the drying function the machine uses some water. The clothes come out dry enough it still get stuck on the airer over night. I don’t like drying things crispy. Cuts down upon moisture in the home until I can dry outside again.
I’ve used gel pods, powder, liquid all seem good. I’ve used soda crystals, white vinegar and dettol stuff, all seem good. I’ve used tumble dry sheet and those woolen ball things, all seems good.
I don’t use the fabric softer liquid stuff.
Noise. It is quiet. Washing is loudest when it’s getting up to 1400 rpm, once there it’s fairly quiet. Drying is very quiet. I keep the cupboard door shut on washing but not drying.
Finally, it does look nice but more importantly it washes well and saves space. Quieter than my old separate machines. Doesn’t seem as robust, with more to go wrong, as it does more jobs but time will tell.
If it lasts at this current performance then I’m very pleased.
A big downside is the manual-it refers to lots of different models and functions and it is really poorly laid out and confusing to follow. I still haven’t figured out what all the machine does and how the steam function works but I think I will get there eventually given time.
Overall it is a great value machine.
So easy to use looks great plus I love the light inside the drum helps find the dark stuff also looks good very quiet machine brilliant so far only had it a few weeks but totally worth the money
I would suggest to choose the installation option in the “service options”, I did not see the one fits me, so I chose standard, but it turned out the guys who delivered would not install it for me. (A total shock!) they just unpacked and removed the simple package (it did not come in the full box but plastic wrap and some pieces of protection). one of the guy was nice, he advised me to contact Amazon customer service and buy separate service, or I could order to return then re-order.
However, having contacted Amazon Customer Service, they did not have sufficient installation services. I had looked everywhere online and in the borough, not many options as Haier is not majorly within the service scope. So I decided to call Haier customer service to see if they could guide me or perhaps they have such services.
The lady at Haier customer service was very kind, who advised me that if I follow the steps on manual, I could also install it myself as she had done herself, she said “if I could do it, everyone could do it too, so not to worry, it is not hard”, I was happy, just worried if I would do something wrong. So having read manual repeatedly and went through youtube Haier videos, made it! I was quite proud of myself that it worked.
Having used it quite a few times in the first week, the washing noise level surprised me. It was quiet especially when it was spinning at the last stage. Previously living in house sharing, the washing machine shook quite bad and made noise when spinning. But this one is quiet.
Definitely recommended to purchase, however, it would be ideal to have 5 years warranty to be honest. Currently I think it is only 2 years.
All that said, it’s really quiet on both wash and dry sequences, gets everything nice and clean and feels like a sturdy unit. We were impressed by the build quality of a Haier fridge freezer purchased earlier in the year, which influenced our purchase. I would definitely recommend this machine if it fits your requirements.
I spent a lot of time looking at reviews, and I have to be honest, all the negative points are written by people clearly over filling their machines.
You have to remember that the wash weight is different to the dry weight, so yes, if you fill the drum to the brim and still expect it to dry you’re going to be waiting a very long time, as well as damaging your machine.
As I learnt from my previous washer dryer – never select “wash and dry” because things never come out dry. I always select a wash cycle and program a dry to start straight after. The cycle is considerably quicker than my previous machine despite having a larger capacity. I can do a full wash and dry in 4 hours, my last machine took 5 and a half!
I love the touch screen, makes the machine feel so high tech! And the light inside the drum; of all the unnecessary features I never knew I wanted, this is it.
Yes, this really is as quiet as it claims! My last machine was so loud and violent that I caught it trying to run a marathon in my kitchen on several occasions and there was no way I could put a last minute load in at night ready for the morning without it waking people. I barely hear this washer dryer. I don’t need to close the kitchen door anymore just to hear what I’m thinking in a different room.
The settings in my opinion are very straight forward. I double checked the instructions just to be sure but everything was self explanatory.
I’ve had this less than a week and so far it has been a god send! And it comes with a 2 year warranty so even if something does go wrong Haier will cover it.
So far, I highly recommend this.
